driving on roadway in wet weather, SERVICE STEERING warning on dashboard and vehicle steering becomes very stiff to the point of being unable to turn vehicle at all. Currently waiting on vehicle repair.
Steering takes force to turn, making noise and feeling like turns are jolted while maneuvering. While making right handed turn, the truck requires a crawling speed, to ensure steering is on route. With the feeling worsening, the fear is that it will fail to turn at a crucial moment and cause injury to the driver or any other surrounding vehicles.
My cruise control is not working right, sometimes it don't turn on, but when it does, there are times that it will automatically shut off while driving., or it won't let me cancel it
To my best assessment I was driving and while turning the steering wheel was like it was locked and then it loosen up.I made it home and the next morning cranked up foot on brakes a red circle light came on red saying steering needs serving.I have scheduled a diagnostic appointment. Not Pryor to me leaving the house on 4/4/2026 did I experienced this incident which put me and my family’s life in danger.Intermittently the steering wheel will turn.I thanked God he didn’t allow me to panic.
Fuel Tank Strap Mounting Bracket failed on 2014 Ram 1500. Part covered under FCA Warranty Extension #X75. Due to failure, driveshaft was deeply scored and recommended be replaced due to safety concerns.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at various speeds, the steering wheel became stiff, and the vehicle failed to turn as intended. The contact stated that the message "Service Power Steering System" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the residence. An independent mechanic arrived at the residence and diagnosed the vehicle with steering rack failure. The vehicle was not repaired due to parts being on back order. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 201,110.
EPS light comes on intermittently and locks steering while driving at random. Checked all fuses and conctions all good. Battery was replaced 1 month ago so Battery good and power good. Wiring is good.
Fuel sensor failure. Began around 60,000 miles. Unless tank is full tank will display as empty. This also causes the check engine light to be on. Causes me to never know how much fuel is in the tank. I have nearly run out of fuel several times. This is a known issues across Dodge RAM forums for this era of RAM. It is not safe to operate at speed and run out of fuel unexpectedly.
I was driving normal and almost lost control when electric power sterring rack and pinion went out. And after doing some research looks like this is a huge issue with all these trucks. Amd dodge refuses to recall the vehicle. Someone can die from this
The vehicle experienced a sudden loss of power steering while in operation, creating a safety concern due to reduced ability to control the vehicle. At the time of failure, multiple electrical and control module faults were present. The vehicle was inspected by a dealership, which diagnosed the issue as requiring rack and pinion replacement. The owner paid out of pocket for this repair. Dealership documentation shows the steering failure occurred alongside multiple electrical system faults. During the same service period, the dealership also performed multiple safety recall repairs, including control module and software updates. These systems are integrated, and the steering failure occurred in conjunction with electrical and control module issues later addressed under recall. This raises concern that the original failure may be related to defects now identified under active safety recalls. The owner incurred significant repair costs prior to recall correction. This situation presents a potential safety related defect involving steering and electrical system interaction.
While changing oil, noticed the front fuel tank strap was disconnected from the frame. Upon closer inspection, the outboard front fuel tank strap mounting location on the frame rusted through, allowing the T portion if the strap to fall lose. There is a similar recall for 08-12 Ram 1500's, but clearly this issue persists for more than just those model years
Power steering issues
Odometer Fraud. The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. It was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a dealer sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 140,000; however, at the time of registration, it was discovered that the mileage was 238,999.
The ETC light came on and I brought the truck to my mechanic. The code for crankshaft position sensor came up. Apparently a faulty cps can cause the engine to shut down without warning. This is an obvious safety issue which Ram doesn’t want to repair.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. While driving approximately 15 MPH and making a left turn, the steering wheel and the check engine warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the steering became extremely difficult to turn. The contact stopped, turned off, and restarted the vehicle; however, the steering was stiff and difficult to turn. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the steering sensor and the rack and pinion gears needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 260,000.
The electric power steering module failed while driving and could have resulted in an accident. After searching online there are Alot of similiar cases with the same model truck and is a serious safety concern.
Intermittent power steering issues, especially at low speeds and in cold weather.
Power steering stopped working.
1. Front fuel tank strap bracket has corroded and strap no longer attaches, my vehicle is available for inspection upon request. (appears this was a problem for 2009-2012 ram trucks) 2. If the tank falls, fuel will let loose with the opportunity for fire. 3. Yes, (independent service center). My mechanic wants me to ratchet strap the tank up to run the fuel low (because the tank will need to be dropped to repair/replace). He can't do the work. I need to contact a welding shop to weld new brackets to my truck frame. 4. No, there was no physical accident up to this point. The strap is hanging and unable to reattach because the frame bracket is rotted out. 5. No, just saw the strap hanging under the truck. (Additionally, my truck doesn't come up as having a current recall for airbags but i have the airbag light on the dash. I see NHTSA recall #'s 17V302000, 16EO41000, 15V534000 and 15V460000 all apply to airbags with my trucks year)
So my truck has the abs module part that has failed on it. Over the time it’s failed we have seen things go out on it that directly relate to safety being a concern. First is the fact that sometimes the brakes fail completely and cause concern that I might hit another vehicle or person. Second is the issue of the truck very rarely accelerating without driver interaction this is a safety issue because the uncontrolled speed could cause additional accidents. Lastly is the issue where the truck will very rarely go into an undesirable gear will driving resulting in immediate action to be taken by the driver. All of these incidents were taken up with multiple dodge dealers and Stelantis motor corp without action taken on their part. All parties have stated that repair is impossible due to lack of availability. When asked to provided assistance to get truck repaired at a different location without cost to driver, driver was told no. Driver was also told no after driver stated this was now becoming an increased risk.
While driving into a turn at an intersection, the steering pulled hard, them completely loss all power steering with the steering indicator light on the dash. The vehicle has had no prior issues with steering. Due to slow speed, I was able to stop the vehicle and gain control over it. The vehicle now has no power steering and the light remains on the dash.
I was driving around 35 mph, the steering wheels suddenly have no power, really tight and hard to turn with no symptoms before and no light on dash, this was very dangerous if I was driving on the highway. Second thing is the famous "Hemi tick" happened on my truck, everyone have the Ram truck have exactly same issue but I really do not know why this issue still not have any recall yet. Please recall and make your product better and safer for your royal customer, please and please.
Odometer Fraud. The contact considered purchasing a 2014 Ram 1500 from a local dealer, with an odometer reading of 138,000. The contact stated that after obtaining a Carfax Report for the vehicle, the contact became aware that the odometer reading was listed at 251,000 in 2023. The vehicle was not purchased. The dealer was not yet notified of the mileage discrepancy.
Tailgate was dropping open while driving, and sometimes would not latch when shut without slamming it several times. Took it to Gupton Dodge Dealership 37172 and they performed the recall. A few months later the same problems started occurring again, then after a while longer the tailgate actually would not open at all anymore. I took it back to the same dealership to notify them that their recall repair failed. They told me the recall had already been done and it was working when it left their shop, so I would need to pay for any further repairs which would require replacing the entire actuator assembly. I brought the truck back home and removed the tailgate latch cover to assess the problem myself. I found that the original actuator was still on and had never been replaced in the recall work. I also found that by cleaning up the metal actuator parts with carb cleaner spray, and lubing it with dry lube and white lithium grease at critical movement spots, the actuator and tailgate latches started working perfectly again. I now realize that they very likely did the same thing for the recall, just cleaned and lubed it, and no parts replaced or added. I expect it will now work for another few more months before dust and moisture will cause it to need cleaning and lubing again in order to keep it working. Serious safety hazard, not just from dropped cargo! My wife closed tailgate once while my 6 year old grandson was standing next to her. As soon as she stepped away the heavy tailgate fell open hard, missing my grandson's head by inches. Dealers are just doing a quick, cheap, temporary fix to say they met their obligation, and are perpetuating the danger. Even if the actuator assembly is replaced with the OEM part, it will also fail from normal dust & moisture over time. The recall needs to require the actuator assembly to be REPLACED with an IMPROVED DESIGN that will not fail from normal dust and moisture, since it is not in a sealed compartment.
There was a previous recall for my vehicle July 21, 2015 R36 15V•459. The recall was handled at the dealership to fix the recall. But now I'm experiencing the exact symptoms of Recall R36. Steering Wheel: •Ghost right blinker - When engaged, all lights are on and in working condition and blink at a normal rate on the outside of the vehicle. •No menu navigation •No cruise control •Can't control radio •Can't control phone calls •No working horn •Active airbag light Symptoms are constant all angles of the steering wheel. There is no noise coming from the steering column. Airbag light is on all the time. Yes, the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. My safety is put at risk for having a failed horn, I cannot alert others. And with the airbag light on, either the airbag can spontaneously deploy causing an accident or if I'm in an accident, they won't deploy at all. If I can't access my menu, I'm unable to see any vehicle notifications or alerts for my engine, transmission, and safety systems, including Perform Service reminders, tire pressure warnings, oil life percentage, low oil pressure and potential emissions or electrical issues. No, it has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center yet. No, it has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. First appeared February 2, 2026
The recall for the loss of signal from the tone ring in recall 66A was supposed to allow the vehicle to use the signal from the camshaft positioning sensor. This recall was completed on my truck but the loss of signal from a bad tone ring has resulted in the same condition as the original recall which is inoperability of the vehicle. This still poses a safety threat as the recall did not correct the issue. The manufacturer is now claiming that the recall period is expired and the tone ring failure will not be covered. the repair is 1700 and may still result in a failure of the vehicle to maintain propulsion as it did for me on Jan 30th, 2026. I have a case open with Stellantis to try and get an answer to this, but it is still a safety concern. case number 895950295
Took truck to dealership, 2014 Ram 1500. They found front fuel tank strap has rusted out of its “T” hock position. Similar to the issue with 2008-2012 Rams. Very dangerous. Cannot drive in this condition
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the rear brake light, traction control, and ABS warning light were illuminated. The cruise control was inoperable. An independent mechanic was contacted, who scanned the vehicle and determined that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The local dealer was contacted, and it was diagnosed and determined that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the part being on backorder. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the air bag warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with an unknown air bag failure, and the air bag needed to be replaced; however, the part to repair the vehicle was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
As many other dodge ram owners are also experiencing anti lock brake control module internal electronic failure. Abs, traction control, and brake warning lights are all on on the dash so abs and traction control are disabled the 4 wheel drive won't function due to this either. Abs has fault code c2200-49 diagnosed at a local facility with fix finder diagnostic and doesn't seem to be any available control module replacements to even repair it. This truck is useless on the icy road at this time and dangerous for everyone's safety on the road under normal driving conditions without all of these safety features working as they should. There should be parts available at least if not a recall or maybe even customer pays for the part and dealership programs new part for free! The anti lock brake control modules are faulty on way to many generations of dodge ram vehicles for dodge not to recall all faulty abs control modules on all year models, please help with this issue THANKS in advance
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while his wife was driving approximately 45 MPH and entering the freeway, the driver heard an abnormal popping sound, and it felt as if the vehicle had been rear-ended. The message "Throttle Alert" was displayed, and the vehicle failed to exceed 50 MPH while depressing the accelerator pedal. The driver was unable to pull over to the side of the road due to oncoming traffic. The driver was able to drive the vehicle to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the crankshaft position sensor tone wheel had fractured and was missing. The dealer determined that the part needed to be replaced. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V475000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 199,000.
Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle to the dealer for service, it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, on October 18, 2025, the mileage was 113,000; however, a dealer later informed the contact that the vehicle was last serviced in 2024, at 204,000 miles.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the contact became aware that the vehicle was lower to the ground. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the air suspension needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.
The abs module has an internal short, yes. The abs, traction control, and trailer brakes stopped working as a result. Yes. No. The failure happed abruptly and only showed warning lights after the part failed. The failure appeared while driving resulting in reduced braking and some skidding.
The contact owns a 2014 RAM 1500. The contact stated that while driving 75 MPH, the ABS warning illuminated, and then the cruise control mode became inoperable. The contact was able to take control of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the failure had occurred on several different occasions. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 214,330.
The magnetic material on the tone wheel detached causing a crank position sensor error code (P0336) and subsequent misfire while accelerating into traffic. The software had been updated per recall W58 (NHSTA 20V-475). Vehicle could be restarted but lacked full power. The vehicle is out of warranty, however, Stellantis directed that a dealer make repairs, customer pays out of pocket ($3200), and claim be submitted for reimbursement. Stellantis promptly denied the claim, despite correspondence in writing and recorded customer service phone call. A BBB complaint has been filed against Stellantis.
Fuel tank bracket come off dropping the front of the fuel tank and got against the drive shaft and cut it in half causing the drive shaft to drop and bang around the under the truck to I was Abel to get stoped in the middle of the hwy this could had been a very serious. Have contacted Ram and this is a known problem that they do not want to repair the damage caused by the strap the drive shaft could had dug into the pavement cousin the truck to crash or bust the fuel tank and creating the tank to explode causing serious injury or death
Fuel tank strap fell out of the holding slot and came the strap came into contact with drive shaft cutting the rear driveshaft into. causing it to drop and slinging it self under the truck till I got stoped driving down the road this could have caused a gas leak and sparks igniting the fuel or the back half of the drive shaft could had dug into the road causing the lost of control or flipping the truck
2014 Ram 1500 lost power-steering while driving
I turned on the highway and power steering gave out and went back ima couple days went out again and have t driven it since
TICKING NOISE FROM 3.6l PENTASTAR ENGINE. SAFTEY CONCERN COULD RUIN MY ENGINE CAUSING STALLS AND MISFIREING AND SEZEING.
ABS Module … same as 100’s of other Dodge Ram 1500 Trucks! My 2014 is sitting the dealership rotten because there is no part available anymore or anywhere! Have a warranty which is useless and no help from Dodge or dealerships anywhere it’s so sad and pathetic that a USA made Truck isn’t worth anything but scrap! Why are they aloud to get away with not fixing issues with Ram Trucks! No Recall no actions taking and people just sitting on there hands waiting for any glimpse of hope to fix there trucks! Shame on Dodge and will never buy a Dodge, Jeep or Chrysler vehicle. Your service departments your representatives all throw up their hands and say oh it’s Dodge. You should just get rid of it. …. that’s really sad.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 30 MPH, the vehicle became difficult to maneuver. The red steering warning light was illuminated. The contact used force to maneuver the steering wheel. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The contact was later able to drive to the residence, but added effort was needed to steer the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact parked the vehicle and no longer drove the vehicle due to safety concerns. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
Steering wheel locked during a slight left hand curve and drove into the oncoming traffic! Thank God the oncoming traffic was far enough away to stop before hitting me head on! Upon researching this, it appears to be an ongoing issue and owners are forced to buy a complete rack and pinion set up of which are very limited in availability! An electronic EPS with no available electronic board Ever heard of right to repair but beyond that had oncoming traffic not been aware there could have been a major head on collision with serious injuries or even someone DEAD!
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 20 MPH, the vehicle became difficult to maneuver. The Power Steering warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the residence, and the vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.
The abs system is bad. I have 150000 on the truck. They are doing recalls on this system. But don't go back to 2014. There are other people having same issue. It's ashame that Dodge don't want to fix it. I'm on disability and it's a shame that a company can do this when you pay so much for a vehicle.
The power steering system failed & is causing safety issues.
Complete steering gear failure while driving. Son was driving truck and "steering wheel" icon warning light came on with loss of power steering. Was able to drive home without power assistance and I checked fuses and such to no avail. Did some online research and found quite a few issues related to steering gear failures. No one was hurt but definitely severe safety issue potential.
My vehicles steering wheel wiring harness rubbed against the driver air bag module retainer spring causing it to break and now the parts need to be replaced. This was a validated recall on other models but for some reason it is not appearing under my VIN. NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID: 15V459000 My vehicle is currently scheduled to get repaired by my mechanic but I believe this should be reimbursed as it was a reported recall on extremely similar models.
Any water will disable the abs, traction control. Water shorts out the abs module making abs system inop. I have replaced 2 abs modules. They work great until you drive in the rain. This is a huge safety concern.
