The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while his son was driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel became stiff and was difficult to turn to the left or the right. No warning light was illuminated. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.
I have my 2014 Dodge Ram in for service for my ABS module replacement, part number 68228991AD, after the ABS light and traction control light came on. I have been told the part is on back order and has been for quite some time. The dealer has called other dealers to locate the part, and all are in the same situation, cannot locate that part. This is a safety issue to do with the braking of the vehicle and if continued driving with a faulty ABS Module, could lead to brakes locking up or vehicle not stopping when needed. How can this part be on back order so long and people having to take risks and drive their vehicles with the issue as they may not having anything else to drive. My vehicle has been at the dealer since July 10th, 2025 awaiting this part. They tell me they do not have a date as to when it can be expected to arrive or if it will arrive. They gave recommended to me not to drive the vehicle in this situation as I could be in accident when the brakes are needed. This needs to be addressed and this part should be recalled as I have done my own investigation online and there are lots of people with this same problem and unable to get the part. Some people have become desperate and purchased refurbished or used ABS modules for this same vehicle and paid a significant amount for it just to have it fail just shortly after installation. Driving with a faulty ABS module can be risky as it disables the ant-locking system, potentially leading to wheel lockup and reduced steering control during braking, especially in slippery conditions. This needs to be addressed by your organization as the safety of human beings and their families are at risk of accidents with potential deaths.
Intermittent Power Steering Faulire
Loss of power steering
My vehicle is saying please service the airbags on it. I have noticed that when I start it there seems to be issues with my odometer showing up at times. I have noticed then the vehicle to a dealer for this issue but when it goes to the shop I will discuss it with them.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the message "Service Power Steering" was displayed, and the contact disconnected and reconnected the battery and restart the vehicle; however, upon restarting the vehicle the power steering feature was inoperable. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact was informed that the VIN was not under recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 146,000.
Airbag light comes on and beeps then shits off intermittently. Happens every time we drive the vehicle. I noticed there were other past recalls about the ABS warning light coming on. The message on dash says "Service Airbag System". Our truck has never been in an accident, the horn still works, wiring looks secure for airbag harness, not sure if this is a common problem but I googled it and I've seen several Ram owners with the same light on.
Have a 2014 Ram 1500 that has a ABS malfunction light showing. Took truck in and dealership service department wanted $1500.00 for a new ABS module that has failed. The part has been on backorder from Mopar/Stellantis for months. I am glad I did not give them $1500.00 (+ future labor costs) to fix for something I have been calling the dealership for months on inventory status. My truck has been sitting in their possession for almost 10 months now, rendering me loss of my vehicle use for the entire time of 10 months. Ridiculous. I reached out to Ram Cares and filed a complaint. They have issues with the dealership returning calls as I have. Something is not right here. Again, this is a part on backorder for months that has failed according to dealership and truck is potentially unsafe to drive. I asked Ram Cares to verify if truck is road worthy to drive safely with the failed ABS module as is. Ram Cares still has communication issues with the dealership and even they are getting ignored. I am beyond frustrated and at a loss (literally) of not being able to use my truck for an excessive length of time. I filed a complaint also with the State of California BAR department and they said to file a complaint with you as well. The part number the dealership said I need is: abs module 68228991AD
The fuel pump in the 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 Longhorn Lemaire overheats while driving with less than a quarter tank of petrol. Stalling during acceleration, prolonged cranking durations prior to ignition, and abrupt power loss at highway velocities causes significant warning signs. Engine surges at times and cause irregular idling. Whining and buzzing sounds emanating from the fuel tank region. Decreased fuel efficiency without justification. The check engine light is illuminated with fuel pressure-related codes (P0087, P0190). Research indicates that 4th generation Rams (2009-2018) frequently experience failures owing to inadequate factory pumps and issues with the TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) relay. The fifth-generation vehicles (2019 and beyond) exhibit a reduction in failures; nonetheless, they remain susceptible to contamination from degraded plastic tanks when ethanol-blended gasoline is utilized over extended periods, and pressure below requirements indicates pump failure.
I started my 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 and began to drive it. Without any prior warnings, my power steering went out. Fortunately, I had not made it to a major road to put any others in danger by not being able to maneuver the vehicle or driving down the highway and possibly wrecking the truck. At this time, I'm currently looking for a mechanic that can assess the damage but was saddened to see how there have been recalls for the electronic power steering system on 2015 and 2016 Dodge Rams but NOT the 2014 when so many others have experienced the same difficulties.
We were driving down the highway and heard a weird grinding type noise. We pulled right over to check what was wrong and noticed the fuel tank strap mount had broken apart at the frame from corrosion. Causing it to rest against the driveshaft and creating a deep groove in the driveshaft its self .
the braking system abs failed, stopped at traffic light foot on brake petal holding then brake petal goes to floor and vehicle surges forward, take vehicle to brake shop told that rear brake pads needed replacing replaced things working fine next couple of months. then same thing happened again, get vehicle brake system inspected everything checked out. debate whether master cylinder or abs - later decided to replace master cylinder -working good for a couple of months then it happens again- needing to stop behind traffic at four way stop- brake petal goes to floor I don't understand how abs system can override human eyes seeing dangerous situation ahead 7-
this vehicle is equipped with 3.0 litre ecodiesel. truck has been in for numerous recalls--no problem. i have spoken to numerous buyers of these trucks with this engine and virtually everyone has replaced engine once or sometimes twice. i needed to replace toner wheel behind flywheel a couple weeks ago. this was a 1200.00 fix. stellantis's fix was to reprogram ecu so engine would not fail on highway but did not address the root cause of the problem. i find it appalling that stellantis has not been forced to extend the warranty on these engines since every customer paid extra for the longevity of diesel power. i am afraid to drive this truck since there are probably 2-3 rams every week on facebook marketplace locally with seized engines. this truck has 135000 miles and i am afraid the end is near.
The ABS Module, part 68228991AD in the 2014 Ram 1500 has failed on my truck and in a large number of vehicles i have found on Ram Truck forums. The failure of this part is impacting multiple systems in my truck and and has made those systems inoperable including ABS, stability control, trailer brake control, cruise control, and potentially others. I don't understand why a recall for this problem has not been issued. To add, the parts have been completely unavailable from Mopar or any supplier. I've had this problem since June 2025 and no part availability anywhere and my son has been driving the vehicle because we have no other choice but to drive this vehicle. Please advise soonest about what can be done to help remedy this situation, I am very concerned about the safety of those driving this vehicle with this problem. Thank you
I own a 2014 Ram 1500 and my power steering went out. I could not turn the steering wheel at all. There was no warning or error message. I looked on line and saw that there were a number of complaints for the same issue for the same year, make and model. There was a recall for some vehicles but my truck was not part of the recall. I paid over $3600 at the dealership to fix the problem. I contacted Mopar and was told that my vin was not part of the recall and that they could not reimburse me.
I purchased This truck new in 2014 and have had very few problems with it, but now the ABS module is defective which affects the brakes, traction control, cruise, with all lights on. In driving the vehicle under wet roads it has gone out of control and is dangerous. Ram has told me that the parts are back ordered and recently gave me incorrect information as to the extent of this parts problem. I paid over 50k for this vehicle to keep in my older years and I do not want to have to change now . This is a real problem that could get someone hurt or killed. They say it is not a recall issue but there are thousands of these parts needed and Ram seems to [XXX]. I don't usually voice a complain but this hits home to me. Thanks Ram has a claim pending with my vin # INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
ABS module for 2014-2016 Ram 1500 5.7l is (and has been) on ‘indefinite back order’. I researched and found that I am far from unique when it comes to this assembly. The ABS module failure also causes issues with traction control. Due to lack of parts, and high cost of repair, I was concerned with the safety of this truck. Over the last week, I was forced to trade in the truck.
The power steering on the vehicle is stiff due to a communication error to the right pinion. At highway speeds the vehicle’s steering wheel lock up resulting in abrasive movements and a loss of control of the vehicle steering. When the vehicle is at a low rate speed, the steering wheel is very hard to turn, which has almost resulted in a number of vehicle collisions. After extension of research, I have became aware there’s a pending lawsuit with no power regarding this issue. It is approximately three to $4000 to replace the power steering rack and pinion. There have been numerous complaint as mentioned in the lawsuit. I believe if this issue is not immediately addressed, and a recall is submitted from Mopar motor vehicle accidents will increase resulting into severe injury threat to the general public.
I currently have a failed ABS module on my truck. The warning lights have come on for brakes, ABS and traction control. I attempted to go to my local dealer but was told the part to replace has been backordered for over 2 years. I am unable to locate a new part, or a company that will rebuild the ABS module. I've had this condition for ~ 9 months. Additionally, just recently within the last 3 weeks I've been experiencing intermittent loss of power steering while driving. This issue has typically been lasting 1-2 seconds, which can be very problematic especially while in a turn. When the steering goes out, there is a quick flash of a warning to service power steering on the dash, then the warning goes away.
While driving on the expressway power steering went out. My wife was driving with my granddaughter in the car with her. Looks like there has already been a recall on this year ram 1500 but not my specific VIN? From what i am seeing here it should be included
The BRAKE, and and traction control module all illumated at the same time and stay on. The screen on the dash also says service anti lock brake system so I had it put on a code reader and it says the problem is the abs control module
LOSS OF STEERING
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the ABS light was illuminated. The contact stated that the braking distance was extended while depressing the brake pedal. Additionally, the traction control warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed and it was determined that the control module had failed and needed to be repaired. The contact inquired if the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V287000 (Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and the dealer confirmed the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V287000 (Electronic Stability Control (ESC) nor covered under warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 113,000.
While driving electric power steering stopped working almost having an incident. The steering gets hard and soft and when turning it has difficulties straightening outright on road. Not sure if this part of the ram recall.
Power steering went out while driving , took the truck for inspection, noticed that went turn either way power steering motor will do the opposite , very dangerous in my opinion , seen in the news couple head to head collision involving a ram going into the oposite lane on a highway , multiple casualties were reported, that makes me wonder if the power steering was at fault , making the truck turn suddenly , I can only imagine going 70mph and having the issue that my truck is showing , very dangerous, these needs to be look out , millions of trucks out there with the same type of power steering.
Vehicle is a 2014 Ram 1500 with electric rack and pinion steering. The truck has 96XXX miles on it. When starting the truck the "service power steering" warning comes on in the info center and truck does not have power steering and is very difficult to turn. There have been times that the steering warning lamp is on on startup (different than the "service power steering" warning) and the steering doesn't work . This is a widespread issue with this model of truck. After trouble shooting it has been determined the electronic module is bad and it is $4200.00 to replace at the dealer. There was a limited recall on the 2016 models for the same problem but for a very limited number of trucks. This is an ongoing issue for these trucks. It's not a mater of if they fail it is a matter of when. Most of the reports I have read is that they fail between 60- 100K miles. This is Very dangerous if it fails when driving. Since this has been not recalled the problem doesn't show up on a carfax or any other car reports so you have no idea this is a thing until it happens to you.
The electric power steering is faulty in these vehicles. 2015-2016 year models were recalled for this issue, but 2014's were not included even though they use the same electric steering rack. This repair is $3-4000
Side and front collision - no airbag deployment
I turn the truck on to leave said place, put the truck in reverse, try to turn steering wheel and it wouldn’t turn. Then a steering wheel light comes on with an ! Exclamation point. I start looking up issues on rack and pinion steering issues for the Vin number. That shows that a lot of people have been having the same issues so I take my truck to the dealership after calling and confirming that there was a recall, and after running their test or whatever now they’re saying that there is no recall so here I am filing report because I need there to be a recall on this. There’s multiple people that I’ve been going through the same issue. I also cannot afford a 4000to $5000 bill to get it fixed.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while reversing and turning the steering wheel to the left, the steering wheel seized. The contact stated that the power steering warning light illuminated, and the vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the rack and pinion had failed, and the electric power steering gear needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact became aware that the electronic power steering was not functioning properly, requiring increased effort to maneuver the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the rack and pinion. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V167000 (Steering); but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 156,000.
The ABS, Traction Control, Trailer Breaking lights are on also impacting Adaptive Cruise Control making them all inoperable, even though the truck is still able to be drive, albeit unsafely. I took it to my local repair shop and was told the ABS Controle Module, part number 68228991AD was identified as bad and in need of replacing at approximately $2000 and that the part is on indefinite backorder. I tried to locate the part on my own and there is in fact a nationwide backorder. After further investigation, I found multiple owners on Ram forums either having or have had the same problems. On one parts website, I found this message regarding the part: PART ON HOLD UNTIL ENGINEERING REVIEW IS COMPLETE, EXP - MAR 20TH, 2025. Located at: [XXX] This is not just an issue with 2014 Ram trucks, but extends to other model years using the same part number. This is a huge safety issue that should be addressed through a recall and the NHTSB has the power to right this wrong. Stellantis is doing what large corporations do and protecting their bottom line at the expense of putting customers' safety at risk. We are the little guys with limited financial means and power, to go up against a large corporation to get them to act and do what is right. Please advise soonest. The power steering went out with no warning which could have caused a catastrophic accident with possible death or a deadly accident!
The contact owned a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving 45-50 MPH and making a turn on a curvy road, the vehicle lost power steering functionality inadvertently, causing the contact to lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle crashed into a guardrail. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to drive to the residence; however, the power steering failure persisted. The contact went to the emergency room later and was informed that he had sustained multiple sprains and strains on the neck. The insurance company towed the vehicle from the residence and later informed the contact that the vehicle was most likely totaled. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 124,600. The VIN was not available.
I literally got in my the truck and the power steering no longer worked no warning lights just no longer worked.
Intermittent power steering loss.
Power steering completely went out steering wheel extremely hard to turn.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated while accelerating to overtake another vehicle at 55 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact was able to pull over safely; however, the vehicle was difficult to restart. The electronic throttle control warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed. The dealer informed the contact that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V411000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The diagnostic test determined that the tone wheel needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 235,000.
Electric Power Steering goes out intermittently. Common issue with these trucks. I believe the recall needs to be expanded. Doubtful I'll waste money fixing it myself. May just have to shop around for a new GM or Ford since Ram is no longer American owned.
The ABS system on the truck goes out which causes the truck to have no breaks. ABS module is faulty, your wheels may start locking, leading to a loss of traction. This could be especially dangerous in wet conditions, as it increases the risk of skidding. Another issue is there is no replacement parts avaible to fix this issue, truck owns now have vehicles that now is a ticking time bomb. Ram needs to fix this issue ASAP!! Dealership are saying they have no idea of when replacement parts will be available.
The Electronic Power Steering unit cut out intermittently causing loss of power steering. While the rest of the vehicle operates properly, the loss of power assist makes it difficult to maneuver the vehicle. I took the vehicle to the Ram dealership in Martinsburg, WV. There, the mechanic assessed the gear rack for the power steering needed to be replace at an estimated cost of ~$4,300. The power steering warning light it lit when it is in the failure mode. The symptoms first appeared in May 2025. The vehicles has less that 50,000 miles on it and has never been driven off-road.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel seized with the power steering warning light illuminated. The crankshaft position sensor and tone wheel failed which is the recall for 66A, was driving truck 45mph down heavily traffic roadway, truck died and stopped in the middle of road. took truck to dealership and dealer charged diagnostic fee explained to them that issue sounded like a crankshaft issue and was showing crankshaft codes. They refused to look into this and do the recall. Went and picked the truck up took it to a local mechanic, mechanic diagnosed issue come to found out it was indeed the crankshaft sensor and tone wheel that was the issue, purchased mopar oem parts and installed in vehicle, once repaired vehicle started and ran perfectly.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact was an independent dealer. The contact stated that upon receiving the vehicle back into inventory due to repossession, the contact was aware of an unrepaired open recall on the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to the dealer by the previous owner. The manufacturer was made aware of the unrepaired open recall on the VIN, however the manufacturer declined to approve the unrepaired open recall.
Computer reads CC2200-49. ABS internal electronic failure. Brake,ABS,traction control lights came on and electric trailer brakes and cruise control deactivated while pulling 5000# camper putting my family in danger. Dealer and Ram Care have been of no assistance locating new part. Part has been under engineering review for 2 years and is unavailable from Mopar.
My power steering stopped working down the highway at 70 mph. I almost lost control into a ditch.
I was on my way home from work in Texas and after a couple of turns and curves it suddenly just got really hard to steer. I looked down at my cluster in confusion as to what was going on and the steering light was flashing. Luckily for me I decided to take back way home, less traffic. Made it home safely and vehicle hasn't nor is going anywhere untill a solution is avaiable or next step. And truck is available for inspection. This was my first stop to see if issuse was on a recall list. Apparently I'm not the only one affected by this.. 2014 Ram 1500 5.7l hemi 4x4 lonestar 191,000 miles.
I was driving to the store and suddenly the steering wheel got hard, and I almost hit another car, but fortunately nothing happened. And from then on, the power steering in my car stopped working.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle veered to the right independently. The contact used force to turn the steering wheel. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that on another occasion, while driving 60 MPH, with the cruise control activated, the vehicle failed to operate as intended. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the steering box and rack and pinion had failed. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
ABS control module failed. I lost traction control while driving and spun out on the road. After that I found that not only does this failure affect traction control but ABS and cruise control.
