Loss of power steering. Vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Difficulty steering vehicle at all speeds. The issue has not been confirmed by a service center. The vehicle has not been inspected. There were no warning lamps, messages or symptoms of the problem prior to failure.
The tailgate opens when not wanting to. I checked for recalls for this model year (2014) was not included although prior years recalled this item
I have a complete loss of power steering on my vehicle. At first it was intermittent. I could be driving the vehicle and lose power steering. I could have power steering, shut the vehicle off and restart it and have no power steering. Early on when I lost power steering I could put the scanner on which it would indicate code c2217, clear the code and power steering would resume. This no longer works and there is complete power steering loss. I contacted Ram customer service on 12/23/2024 and was given case id 91757632. I contacted them on 1/22/2025 and was given case id 91960594. I was promised that someone would contact me within 24 hours, no response. I then contacted them on 2/3/2025 and was given the same promise with no response. On 2/5/2025 I once again called Ram customer support and asked to speak with a manager. I was told that I would be contacted within 24 to 48 hours which they documented via email, no response. From my research I have learned that the probable cause is a manufacturing defect being a contaminated circuit board. Recall S19 has been issued for 2015/2016 trucks but to date not for mine. I am left with a life threatening vehicle and I cannot even begin to describe the runaround that these representatives have given me.
My 2014 Ram 1500 with a 5.7 Hemi is constantly displaying the check engine light. Computer scans reveal it is the fuel level sensor. This appears to be a very common problem for this era of Ram trucks. So many comments in Ram forums and on YouTube. This should be a recall due to the stock ones constantly being worn out. Videos and comments online show that mileage does not play a part in failure, as this is happening on vehicles with as little as 60,000 miles and up. This should also be a recall as this should not be attempted by vehicle owners without repair knowledge. So many videos online about jacking up the bed and being supported by 2x4 boards or if removing the gas tank, the static electricity concern. Though this code has come up at least twice before, I am including the most recent issue. I simply refill my truck with the highest premium to help clear the problem. It has worked thus far, but many others complain about the problem also resulting in a failed fuel gauge that constantly shows empty.
The electric power steering failed without notice on 12-12-24. I was driving all day with no incident. I stoped for about 5 minutes and when I restarted my truck the steering wheel was stiff. Received a warning light to service power steering. I had no choice but to drive back home without the power steering working with much difficulty. I then scanned the truck and it gave me fault code C2217 status:MIL/CONFIRMED - Electric Power Steering Module Internal: No Sub Type Information. After disconnecting all connections and confirming there wasn’t no corrosion present, I cleaned all connections to the battery as a precaution and once everything was put back the power steering worked. Everything worked perfectly until 1-3-25 when the power steering went out again with the same fault code. I was able to get the truck home where I reinspected all connections. Once I reconnected everything the power steering worked again. It continued to work until 1-6-25 and has not worked since. Mechanic confirmed that the power steering module failed and the entire rack and pinion assembly needs to be replaced. He also mentioned this is a common issue with these trucks and there was an open investigation on FCA due to it. When the power steering fails it creates a safety risk to everyone on the road due to the fact the truck is extremely difficult the steer and can lead to an accident. The truck is currently available for inspection upon request due to the high cost of repair.
ABS system failure. Unable to repair the ABS control module because the part is not available making the passenger rear wheel lose traction while starting to move and driving at highway speeds causing the rear of the vehicle to fishtail on dry roads. Even with new tires installed.
Had problems with the power steering failing for no particular reason. Ended up bringing it into the shop to find out what was wrong and there was an internal failure with the electronic power steering rack. They told me the whole unit needed to be replaced.
Took the truck to Larry H Miller Ram in Surprise AZ for the high pressure fuel pump recall on 29 Nov. Picked up the truck on [XXX]. About 1.5-2 miles down the road the truck started spraying fuel everywhere, losing traction. Was on a main road so I had to go about a mile before I could pull off the road safely. Called the dealership to come get me and the truck. Service advisor let me know the low pressure line fitting had failed! When I picked the truck up again on 3 Dec, the advisor told me that they are being pushed by the manufacturer to re-use one time use fittings and that is what failed on my truck! UNACCEPTABLE. Fortunately I was on a 45mph road not the freeway doing 70! INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Fuel sensor fail. Common reported issue amongst this vehicle that has not been taken care of.
Power steering would stop working randomly. Would need to restart the truck multiple times for it to start working again.
ABS module has failed. Traction control and ABS is not functioning. The module is on back order for over a year now. I’ve read on many forms that many people are having the same issue. I now have to be extremely careful especially on wet roads as the rear tires spin due to not having TC functioning.
Power steering failure when temperature drops below freezing.
Recently, I started having problems with my electric power steering. While driving I would experience sudden loss of power and the power steering service light would start flashing. This happened on multiple occasions without a warning. It also happens at random times so I decided to do some investigating on NHTSA’s website. I saw there was a recall issued for Ram 1500s models between 2013-2016 ( Recall VB9) so I contacted my nearest Chrysler dealer to obtain more information. I was told that my Vin is not related to the recall however, I feel like my vehicle should be included in this recall due to the fact that I am experiencing the same mechanical problems listed on the recall.
EPS system quit working and no power steering. Code С2217-00. It is available to be inspected. Currently being looked at by Tempe Ram service center in Az. System going out while driving can cause death’s and injury. No issues prior to lights and code and steering wheel stiffening. Also Intermittent cruise control issues with it not wanting to go into and out of cruise. Will not always come out of cruise control when cancelled with button. Previously took in for recall check and dealership said it did not meet recall criteria problem still persists.
I have a 2014 Dodge Ram with a 3 way heater valve causing check engine light concrens. I have read several Ram forum about this situation. people are replacing the valve and trucks run well after repair but the check engine light stays illuminated and will not reset. From what I'm understanding is there is a communication problem with the power control module. The 3 way valve issue is way too common among the Chrysler family and very expensive for such a small part. If possible please look into this issue it will be greatly appreciated for thousands of Chrysler owners. Thank you
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated while pulling out of the driveway, the steering wheel was significantly difficult to turn. The message "Service Power Steering" was displayed. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle; however, the failure persisted while driving at 25-30 MPH. The contact stated that upon turning off and restarting the vehicle at the gas station, the vehicle regained power steering functionality. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Action Number: RQ23003 (Steering). The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 194,900.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at approximately 20 MPH, the vehicle became difficult to maneuver. The power steering control module assist warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the place of residence. A dealer was not contacted and the vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 175,000.
On or about [XXX], I was traveling on [XXX] in Thomasville GA. As I turned left onto [XXX} The steering wheel suddenly, without notice, locked left a spun right to 12 o'clock,, straight alignment which caused my left risk to to snap and I believe would have been broken if I had not let go of the steering wheel. This caused the vehicle to veer into the left lane slightly across the center lane where oncoming traffic deemed it necessary to veer right to curbside to prevent a collision. Although almost impossible to steer, I managed to turn it around and get it back into my yard which is approximately 800 feet . The steering remained almost impossible to steer after a few checks and then and now it is permanently locked. There were at the time of incident, no warning lights. There after: the service power steering light appears. Thomasville Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram advised that the EPS rack and pinion is the cause and has to be replaced. I contacted Chrysler Customer service and spoke to customer service representative Ian who advised a recall for this issue is forthcoming and he allegedly tried to assist with this repair. However other customer service representatives deny Ian's statement to me and even claim that he does not work there. The claim number he provided to me is case #[XXX]. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The Horn and all push buttons on the steering wheel except for the cruise control on/off no longer work. The vehicle was subject to a recall for the same problem. The vehicle was supposedly repaired, but again the problem has come back. I believe the repair was either not performed or was done poorly due to the problem coming back.
The electrical power steering has failed for seemingly no reason. Multiple people have reported this issue and it’s a very expensive repair
-The ABS module failed, code reads internal electrical system failure. Vehicle is available for inspection. Component is not available as a replacement is not and has not been available from the manufacturer. -ABS and traction control are disabled as well as cruise control due to this failure. -The dealer is aware of the problem, it is widespread and they are not manufacturing replacement parts until the issue can be resolved. -The componant for my vehicle has not been inspected withb the exception of pulling fault codes and identifying it as a well known issue. -The ABS, Traction Control, and Brake warning lights stay on at all times and will not reset.
My truck has 57,000 miles it's a 2014 ram 1500 and overnight the power steering unit failed. Replacement part from mopar is $2,100. Luckily I wasn't driving when this happened but there were no early signs of failure. Tried to go to work and couldn't drive the vehicle because the electric power steering unit had an internal software failure and is not driveable
The contact owns a 2014 RAM 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering failed to function as intended. The contact stated while making a left turn, the power steering seized. In addition, an unknown warning light illuminated. The contact depressed the brake pedal and pulled the steering wheel excessively hard to complete the left turn and to avoid having a crash. The vehicle was driven to the contact's residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed power steering module. The contact was informed that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
My electric power steering stopped working at first it was intermittent only happening randomly but after restarting the vehicle it would work again then it finally stopped working while on the highway I sprained my hand maneuvering the vehicle safely out of the fast moving traffic cannot move the steering wheel it’s hard to do and it is very costly other vehicles just like mine have recalls over this why not mine
The Power Steering (All electrical system) is intermittently failing and I believe is a huge safety issue. The dealerships claim my vehicle does not have a recall for such an issue, but when I google it seems to indicate that the Ram 2014 (13-19 models) were part of a recall for a potential issue with the electronic power steering (EPS) circuit card. which could lead to inconsistent steering and potentially a crash.
Electronic Power Steering suddenly stopped working.
Lost all control to the Electronic power steering. There is no power steering at all. Very dangerous to drive.
I was driving the vehicle and all of a sudden lost power steering control and had a steering wheel with explanation point on dashboard. Later found that these 2014 Ram 1500 are notorious for losing the electronic power steering. No recall associated with my VIN number. Cannot get it to dealer or mechanic yet.
This truck has many issues including emmissions problems thst cussed the truck to go into limp mode related to the boost sensors. This happened to me 3 times on the freeway when the truck flashes service electronic throttle control and power is reduced. On October 28th I was driving the truck on 55 mph roads. As I came to a 45 mph road, the engine started knocking. As I got into stop and go traffic the oil pressure started dropping to 0 and back to normal and the knock got louder. I had the truck towed into the dealership where they verbally quoted me over $24,000 for a new motor. The truck had just over 118,000 miles on it. They stated none of the repairs would be covered by the extended emissions warranty. The dealership then allowed me trade the truck in for less than the value ($16,000) causing extra thousands of dollars to be spent instead of repair. The dealership stated it would be an auction truck. On 11/6 I found that the truck had been listed on the dealerships website for $21,325. There is no mention of the repair or defects on the truck and that price is less than what I was quoted for a motor replacement.
Eps has failed
Powersteering failure and can be inspected upon request When i drove up the road i had my heatead mirror turned on and when i turned on my highbeam i lost my powersteering and almost drove of the road when it was turning. As soon i turn off the heated mirriors the powersteering starts to work again. I can reproduce this failure multiple times and no warning lamps or messages luckely no accident occured
I am having an intermittent loss of power to the power steering system while driving, which makes it difficult to maneuver. After further research, the ECM is said to be the culprit.
Fuel sensor does not report accurate amount of gasoline in Tanks
Power steering malfunctioned and completely stopped working while driving down the road at 40 mph. Warning light came on. Significant effort required to drive it to a safe location to park.
Electric power steering system is faulty very dangerous I could’ve been in a accident the eps systems on these trucks go out with no warning I know of this happening to numerous of these trucks ranging from 2013-2019 models with only a few with a recall they need to recall all these trucks for this issue
I have had the electronic power steering rack replaced twice. Now Dodge wants to put a 4th rack in a vehicle that only has 65k. I bought it used, but by all means it is a lemon, as it is NOT FIXABLE, and has not been safe to drive for two years. It has spent over 4 months in 3 different shops this year, and is still currently sitting at Dodge.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 MPH, the "Power Steering" warning light had suddenly illuminated and the steering wheel became difficult to turn in both directions. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,300.
The ABS module is reporting an error. Numerous other Rams have recalls for this issue but not my specific VIN.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the ABS, BRAKE, and an unknown warning light were illuminated. The contact stated that approximately one year later, while driving approximately 5 MPH in the rain, the steering wheel jerked left and right continuously, and the brake pedal was depressed and the vehicle stopped facing on-coming traffic. The vehicle was driven to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was then taken to a dealer for an oil change and spark plugs replacement; however, after driving away, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired because the parts were on back order. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 68,000.
I was driving down the highway when my steering wheel locked up and a warning light lit up saying “service power steering”. Very scary and dangerous situation to be in during traffic hours and I was stranded for a few hours until a tow truck could come pick me up on the side of the highway. The truck was towed to the dealership and they informed me the problem was the Power steering rack, having to spend thousands since It’s not covered under warranty. As far as who’s inspected it is unknown due to it being at the dealer. There were no signs or symptoms prior to the incident.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel), and a partial repair was performed; however, after an inspection, it was determined that no replacement of the high-pressure fuel pump was necessary, and the additional repair was not performed. The contact stated that within 2,000 miles of receiving the recall repair, while driving at approximately 55 MPH the vehicle lost motive power while attempting to accelerate. The contact coasted to the side of the road however, the contact was unable to turn off the vehicle. After several attempts, the contact shifted to park, restarted the vehicle, and continued driving. The contact stated that there were several unknown warning lights flashing. While driving 40 MPH, the vehicle continued sputtering while attempting to accelerate. While stopped at a stop light and then accelerating, the vehicle only accelerated to 15 MPH and then stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after several attempts. The vehicle was driven to the dealer and the contact was informed that the high-pressure fuel pump could not be replaced since the VIN was no longer under recall related to the failure. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic who diagnosed the erratic reading of the fuel pump at the fuel rail and removed the fuel filter that was black and contaminated with metal and debris. The fuel filter was replaced; however, the vehicle was considered inoperable due to fuel pump failure. The contact was informed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 203,225.
The center of the instrument cluster has gone blank. You cannot see any of the mileage speed tire pressure any of the information that is located on the center of the instrument cluster between the tachometer and the speedometer
I was driving down the road and the electronic powering steering went out with the service powering steering indicator turning on. The power steering will no longer function below 40 Fahrenheit and will only activate when it's warmer outside.
Electric power steering failure. Very common according to internet research and nothing has been done to recall this issue
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 MPH and making a left turn, the power steering message was displayed, and the steering wheel became difficult to turn in either direction. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who diagnosed that the steering rack was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 28,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, the power steering assist became inoperable. The power steering warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V167000 (STEERING). The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the electric power steering unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted. The failure mileage was unknown.
The antilock brake system module ($1200) is defective and has not been available for more than a year after contacting four dealerships in Alabama and Florida. The antilock brake system warning lights are on the left side of the dash. When the center warning comes up on the dash the truck feels like the rear end is about to lock up and fall off. All the dealers I contacted stated this is a known and long-term problem. I called dodge corporate (1-866-726-4636) and said the modules are being reengineered then manufactured and may be ordered by dealerships after October 16, 2024. They could not guarantee it would be available to order if not I was told to call corporate back, and they would try to find one. I have an appointment to take my vehicle to the dealership due to excessive back logs at all dealerships, The center warning center comes up moments before the backend is affected. The lights on the left side are always on. Currently there are no recalls.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that when attempting to make a left turn, the steering wheel spun back to center and then locked. The failure caused the vehicle to move into oncoming traffic. The contact was able to maneuver the steering wheel with an excessive amount of force and drive home. The sudden movement of the steering wheel was so severe it caused the contact to have severe swelling for a few days due to the steering wheel twisting and popping their wrist. There was no medical attention needed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the power steering had failed. The dealer confirmed that it was a known failure for the vehicle. The vehicle had not been repaired The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a claim. The failure mileage was 166,000.
Electric Power Steering (EPS) Failure and it is available for inspection. I was traveling 45 MPH in a 45 MPH zone on a curvy two land county road. Truck totally lost all electric power steering assist immediately without warning, when entering a sharp 90 degree turn. I experienced loss of control of truck, but thankfully I reacted properly and hit the brakes and there was no obstacles and other traffic. I ended up all over the road before ending up on shoulder of road. The problem is constant and was diagnosed with trouble code C2217-00 Electric Power Steering Module Internal. Vehicle has not been inspected by mfg, police or insurance or representatives. No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the immediate failure of EPS. Warning was showing once I got vehicle stopped and looked at the dash. Incident happened on Sunday Sept 29, 2024, approximately 5PM.
My truck is a 2014 Ram 1500 Vin: [XXX] *NOTE: [This recall is for older models of Ram 1500] U04 / NHTSA 18V-160 Frame Bracket This recall should be related to Ram 1500 Gas Tank fuel tank straps on ,and corrosion to frame on 2009-2018 Dodge Ram.* The frame is rusted out that holds the bracket. Fuel tank is hanging off almost hitting the ground. VERY DANGEROUS... There is NO RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE YEAR AND MODEL. Thousands of people are online complaining of this same problem. So, much where the (BRACKETS) are sold out, and on back order. The frame now has to be welded with a support plate to attach to new brackets.
