WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT THE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER START BLINKING FROM DIM TO BRIGHT, THIS MAKE IT EXTREAMLY DIFFICULT TO SEE. THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT TO STOP IS TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART IT. THIS IS EXTREAMLY DANGEROUS WHEN YOU HAVE TO PULL OFF THE SIDE OF A HIGHWAY.
I LEFT THE TRUCK RUNNING WHILE IN A STORE, I CAME OUT TO SEE IT ROLLED FORWARD INTO A BUILDING WHILE I WAS IN THE STORE AND TRUCK WAS IN PARK ( OR AT LEAST I THOUGHT) THIS CAUSED $1800 IN DAMAGES LESS THEN A MONTH LATER WHILE THE TRUCK WAS RUNNING AND IN PARK IT COMPLETELY DIED AND HAD TO TOWED BACK TO DEALER. THEY SAID THEY FOUND A LOOSE CONNECTION IN THE DASH
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THERE WAS A DRASTIC REDUCTION IN SPEED AND VARIOUS WARNING INDICATORS FLASHED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT HAD TO COAST THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FROM THE MIDDLE LANE OF A MAJOR HIGHWAY. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. IN ADDITION, THE VENT CONTROLS FAILED TO WORK FOR THE AIR CONDITIONER AND HEATING WITHOUT WARNING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A GRINDING NOISE EMERGING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD JUST BEEN PICKED UP FROM THE DEALER AFTER BEING REPAIRED ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V661000 (SUSPENSION). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,933.
I PURCHASED MY 2015 RAM 1500 OUTDOORSMAN BACK IN DECEMBER. I HAVE BEEN HAVING NOTHING BUT ISSUES WITH IT NOT EVEN 5 MINUTES AFTER THE TRUCK WAS DELIVERED TO MY HOUSE AND I SIGNED THE PAPERS, MY SALESMAN HAD JUST LEFT MY HOUSE I GO OUT TO START IT AND WOULD NOT START. THE TRUCK KEPT TRYING TO TURN OVER BUT WAS NOT GETTING FUEL TO THE ENGINE. THE TRUCK WENT BACK TO THE DEALER THEY REPLACED THE TIPM, I I WAS TOLD NOT TO WORRY IT IS A COMMON ISSUE. I BRING THE TRUCK HOME FROM THE DEALER THAT DAY I AM NOT HAVING ANY ISSUES I THINK THE TRUCK IS BACK TO NORMAL UNTIL THE NEXT DAY. THE VERY NEXT DAY I HAVE THE SAME EXACT ISSUE THE TRUCK IS TRYING TO TURN OVER AND START BUT STARVING FOR FUEL. AFTER 15 MINUTES OF TRYING TO GET IT TO START IT FINALLY STARTS NORMAL AND I TAKE IT RIGHT BACK TO THE DEALER. THIS TIME IT HAS A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WHICH SAID IT HAD A BAD (FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE). THE TECH INFORMED ME THIS IS A NEW PART FOR LATE MODEL 15'S AND GOING TO BE PLACED IN ALL OF THE 16 MODEL RAMS AND THAT HE ORDERED ME A NEW ONE. I RECEIVED A CALL 2 DAYS LATER MY RAM WAS READY TO BE PICKED UP. THIS IS AT ABOUT 170 MILES ON THE TRUCK. NOW AFTER I PICK IT UP FROM THE FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE BEING REPLACED, THE TRUCK IS RUNNING PERFECT. JUST WHEN I AM JUST STARTING TO GET COMFORTABLE THAT THE ISSUE IS FIXED, AROUND 2500 MILES I AM DRIVING THE TRUCK I GET STUCK IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. I AM AT A STAND STILL FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES THE TRUCK BEGINS TO SPUTTER, SHAKE, AND MY RPM'S ARE VERY LOW AND IT IS MISFIRING. I AM TRYING TO GET OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE TRUCK WOULD NOT GO OVER 5 MILES A HOUR. AS I GET OFF THE ROAD IT SHUTS OFF AND WILL NOT START. SOUNDS THE EXACT SAME AS THE FIRST 2 TIMES. I TAKE IT TO THE DEALER AGAIN FOR A 3RD TIME AND IT HAS MISFIRE, AND FUEL CONTROL MODULE CODES AGAIN. NOW THEY ARE REPLACING THE PCM IN MY TRUCK, HOPE THIS IS IT.

THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED THAT THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE WAS EXCESSIVELY CORODDED AND RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,500.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, THE SERVICE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE WARNING MESSAGE 'SPEED LIMITED WITHIN 96 MILES' ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS TOLD TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER BECAUSE ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT DOWN, IT WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER AND THE DEALER REFUSED TO DIAGNOSE IT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,778.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 RAM 1500. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND UNATTENDED, IT ROLLED FORWARD AND CRASHED INTO A BUILDING. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I HAVE A 2015 DODGE RAM 1500 EXPRESS, I'VE HAD MECHANICAL ISSUE WITH THE TRUCK FROM THE VERY START OF OWNING THE TRUCK. THE BIGGEST AND LONGEST LASTING ISSUE HAS BEEN WITH THE KEY FOB GETTING STUCK IN THE TRUCK. THE ISSUE HAS BEEN THAT THE TRUCK ISN'T TELLING ITSELF THAT THE IS IN PARK SO IT WONT RELEASE MY KEY. THIS CAUSES ME TO HAVE TO TURN THE TRUCK ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES MOVE THE TRUCK AND SHIFT BACK INTO PAR BEFORE IT WILL RELEASE THE KEY. THE DEALERSHIP HAS SEEN THIS PROBLEM HAPPEN IN PERSON BUT THEN TELLS ME THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IS CAUSING IT. SO THEY REPLACE SOME RANDOM PART HOPING IT WILL FIX THE ISSUE. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE 03/2016 AND HAS REQUIRED THE TRUCK TO BE IN AND OUT OF THE SHOP FOR DAYS AND WEEKS. DODGE HAS BEEN UNABLE TO FIX THIS SAFETY ISSUE. I'VE CONTACTED DODGE CUSTOMER CARE TWICE OPENED TWO CUSTOMER CARE TICKETS AND ALL I HEAR FROM DODGE IS TAKE IT BACK TO SHOP SO THEY CAN LOOK AT IT. I'VE HAD CLOSE TO SEVEN DIFFERENT ITEMS REPLACED ON THE TRUCK AND HAVE TO SPEND MY OFF DAYS DRIVING BACK AND WORTH TO THE DEALERSHIP OVER THE PAST SEVEN MONTHS. I'VE BEEN SPEAKING WITH DODGE CUSTOMER CARE SINCE 05/2016 TRYING TO GET THIS FIXED BUT THEY DON'T SEEM WILLING OR CARE TO GET THE TRUCK FIXED. THEIR ANSWER IS THEY CANT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE SO THEY CANT FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT I'VE SHOWN VIDEOS, RECORDED EVERY TIME THE KEY GETS STUCK BY NO ONE SEEMS TO CARE, DODGE DOESN'T SEEM TO CONCERNED WITH FIXING MY ISSUE. WHEN MY "CUSTOMER CARE" REP CALLS ME FROM DODGE SHE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW WHERE MY TRUCK IS. I HAVE DETAILED RECORDS OF EVERY TIME THE KEY HAS GOTTEN STUCK, I'VE DROPPED MY TRUCK OFF AT THE DEALERSHIP, OR I'VE SPOKEN TO SOMEONE REGARDING Y TRUCK. I JUST WANT MY TRUCK FIXED. *TR
ON 5 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS THIS TRUCK HAS GONE INTO WHAT THE DEALERSHIP IS REFERRING TO AS LIMP MODE. NO MATTER WHAT SPEED YOU ARE TRAVELING THE TRUCK INVOLUNTARILY DOWN SHIFTS INTO A SPEED AVERAGING 20 MILES PER HOUR WITHOUT WARNING. THIS HAPPENED TWICE WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY DOING APPROXIMATELY 65 MILES AN HOUR. THE OTHER THREE TIMES THE SPEED WENT FROM 30-45 MILES PER HOUR DOWN TO 25 MILES PER HOUR. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE DASH BOARD LIGHTS UP INDICATING AN ELECTRONIC THROTTLE LIGHT PROBLEM. EACH TIME THIS HAPPENED THE TRUCK WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT WE PURCHASED IT FROM. THE FIRST TIME A PCM UPDATE FOR THE VOLTAGE CODE 18-19-04-EH WHICH DID NOT REMEDY THE DEFECT, JUST A FEW DAYS LATER, ON MARCH 10, 2016 THE VEHICLE SUFFERED THE SAME DEFECT WHICH CREATED A POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS SITUATION SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING OPERATED ON A MAJOR ROADWAY. AGAIN, FREEDOM CHRYSLER LOOKED AT THE VEHICLE AND REPLACED THE BOOST SENSOR (68211211AA SENSOR-INTAKE MANIFOLD) AGAIN 1 DAY AFTER THIS WAS RETURNED TO US IT WENT BACK INTO LIMP MODE. THIS TIME (3-21-16) THE INCIDENTS WERE REPORTED TO CHRYSLER AT 800-423-6343 AND WE WERE GIVEN A CASE NUMBER AND A CASE REPRESENTATIVE. THE CASE MANAGER OFFERED AT THIS TIME TO REIMBURSE US 1 MONTHS PAYMENT DUE TO THE LOSE USE OF THE VEHICLE. WE DECLINED PAYMENT UNTIL WE KNEW THE VEHICLE WAS FIXED PROPERLY AND THAT NO OTHER ISSUES WOULD ARISE. THE FOURTH TIME THE TRUCK WENT INTO THIS MODE ALL OF THE INJECTORS WERE REPLACED. 1 DAY LATER THERE WAS A VERY LOAD NOISE COMING FROM THE TRUCK SO IT WAS RETURNED YET AGAIN. THIS TIME FREEDOM CHRYSLER SAID WE HAD RECEIVED A DEFECTIVE INJECTOR AND THEY CHANGED ONE OF THE NEW INJECTORS OUT FOR ANOTHER ONE. WE ARE NOT WILLING TO RISK OURS/OTHERS LIVES BY DRIVING THIS TRUCK. WE HAVE ASKED FREEDOM CHRYSLER AND CHRYSLER MOTORS TO REPLACE THIS VEHICLE TO NO AVAIL.
THE VM MOTOR HAS NUMEROUS FAILURES RESULTING FROM THE CAMSHAFT GEAR ON THE FUEL PUMP SIDE OF THE MOTOR SLIPPING AND CAUSING CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. THESE PROBLEMS WILL OCCUR GENERALLY AFTER 70K MILES. THERE IS A PROCESS CURRENTLY PERFORMED BY D&J DIESEL IN MIDVALE UTAH TO PERMANENTLY FIX THIS PROBLEM. ECODIESEL OWNERS PAID A PREMIUM FOR THE DIESEL UPGRADE SINCE DIESEL MOTORS ARE RENOWN FOR THEIR LONGEVITY. THIS ACHILLES HEAL MARRING THE RELIABILITY AND CAUSING AN UNSAFE TIME BOMB SHOULD HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURER TO RECALL THE VEHICLES. THUS FAR RAM HAS NOT TAKEN ACTION. ON 2-24-16, AN ACCIDENT WITH THE VEHICLE HAPPENED DURING WHICH THE DRIVER HAD NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. PER THE POLICE REPORT, VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A PARKING SPACE FACING SOUTHWEST. UNOCCUPIED VEHICLE BACKED UP FROM ITS PARKING POSITION IN THE NORTHEAST DIRECTION COLLIDING WITH A BUILDING COLUMN. THE REAR BUMPER OF THE VEHICLE COLLIDED WITH A BLOCK COLUMN CAUSING CEMENT BLOCKS TO BE KNOCKED OUT OF POSITION. THERE WERE NO INJURIES ON THE SCENE. DRIVER LEFT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, TURNED OFF THE IGNITION TO THE VEHICLE, EXITED THE VEHICLE AND LCOKED IT WITH THE KEYS IN HIS POCKET. HE THEN ENTERED A STORE.AND APPROX. 15 MINUTES LATER, SECURITY LOCATED HIM AND INFORMED HIM THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BACKED INTO THEIR BUILDING JUMPING A CURB AND ACCELERATING. DRIVER ADVISED THAT HE HAD THE KEY FOB IN HIS POCKET TEH WHOLE TIME. HE STATED THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE CRANKED AND WOULD AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF IF HE WAS A CERTAIN DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE. HE ADVISED HE DID NOT KNOW HOW THE VEHICLE CRANKED, TRAVELED IN REVERSE AND THEN COLLIDED WITH THE BUILDING. HE ADVISED THAT SOMEONE TOLD HIM THE VEHICLE'S REVERSE LIGHTS WERE ACTIVATED WHEN THEY OBSERVED THE CRASH. SECURITY VIDEO WAS OBTAINED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. LATER HE LEARNED THAT THERE HAD BEEN SIMILAR INCIDENTS FOR SIMILAR VEHICLES AND CONTACTED CHRYSLER. ON MARCH 17, 2016 OWNER OF THE VEHICLE RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FIAT CHRYSLER AUTOMOBILES (FCA US LLC) STATING THAT THE COMPANY DOES NOT BELIEVE THAT IT WAS DUE TO A MANUFACTURING RESPONSIBILITY. HOWEVER, UPON FURTHER RESEARCH, INFORMATION SHOWS THAT A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR WHAT MAY HAVE CAUSED THE PROBLEM. ON AUGUST 14, 2015 CHRYSELR ISSUED A RECALL FOR RADIO SOFTWARE SECURITY VULNERABILITES. OWNER DOES NOT KNOW IF THE DEALERSHIP HAD SERVICED THE VEHICLE FOR THE ISSUE.
FOLLOW-UP TO COMPLAINT NUMBERS: 10809870 & 10818694, 2015 RAM 1500 LARAMIE LIMITED 4X4 COMPONENT PART OR SYSTEM THAT CAUSED THE SAFETY RISK - UNKNOWN I TOOK DELIVERY OF MY TRUCK FROM THE SERVICE CENTER ON 01/20/2016. THE BODY CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED. ON 02/14/2016, MY WIFE AND I WERE HEADED OUT FOR VALENTINES DINNER AND I STARTED MY TRUCK IN THE GARAGE. THE TRUCK SUDDENLY WENT DEAD ELECTRONICALLY AND ENGINE-WISE AGAIN, IN THE GARAGE. AGAIN, THE TRUCK COULD NOT BE RESTARTED AND AGAIN NOTHING WORKED. THANKFULLY, WE NEVER GOT A CHANCE TO DRIVE OUT OF THE GARAGE AND THERE WAS NO SAFETY CONCERN. MY TRUCK WILL BE TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN TOMORROW.
ORIGINAL COMPLAINT FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED WAS FILED WITH THE NHTSC ON 9/10/2015. THIS IS THE SECOND IDENTICAL INCIDENT. ON 2/14/16 MY KNEE HIT THE IGNITION KEY AND THE IGNITION TURNED OFF WHILE TRAVELING AT 55 MPH. I LOST ALL ENGINE, BRAKE AND STEERING POWER AND COASTED OFF ROAD WITHOUT AN ACCIDENT. THE LOCATION AND OPERATION OF THE IGNITION KEY AND IGNITION SWITCH WILL EVENTUALLY CAUSE A CRASH AND FATALITY LIKE WHAT HAPPENED WITH THE SIMILAR GM / CHEVY IGNITION PROBLEM. I REPORTED THIS TO MY DEALER, RAM HQ CUSTOMER CARE AND YOU (NHTSC) IN SEPT 2015 AND GOT NO RESPONSE FROM ANY OF YOU AND NO ONE SEEMED TO CARE. I ALSO CONTACTED LIEFF CABRASER LAW FIRM IN SAN FRANCISCO THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED ON 9/10/2015 AND GAVE THEM A HEADS UP THAT THIS DEFECT WILL EVENTUALLY RESULT IN A CRASH AND/OR FATALITY AND THEY ARE ON NOTICE AND PREPARED TO SUE AS SOON AS THIS ISSUE KILLS SOMEONE. LIEFF CABRASER LAW FIRM SPECIALIZES IN THESE TYPES OF DEFECTS AND HAS SUCCESSFULLY SUED SEVERAL AUTOMOBILE MANUFACTURERS FOR NEGLIGENCE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A DATE THAT THE PARTS MAY BE PROVIDED TO THE DEALER. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD BE REPAIRED FOR MONTHS. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

TWO ACCIDENTS AND WAS DENIED RECALL - EVEN THOUGH MY 2015 DODGE RAM 1500 STEERING COMPONENT HAS BEEN DEFECTIVE AND CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. ACCIDENT #1 FEBRUARY 16, 2016 BRAKES DID NOT FUNCTION WELL. CAR DID NOT BRAKE WELL IN THE RAIN, WAS COMING TO A RED LIGHT WITH A CAR IN FRONT OF ME, HAD TO PUSH ON THE BRAKES AND THEY WERE NOT BRAKING. DODGE RAM 1500 SKID AND HIT THE BACK OF THE CAR IN FRONT. ACCIDENT #2 MARCH 12, 2016 LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AND BRAKES DID NOT WORK. I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND IT WAS RAINING. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I STARTED A SLOW LEFT TURN WHEN: (1) THE DODGE RAM LOST TRACTION, (2) DODGE RAM OVER STEERED TO THE LEFT FROM THE STEERING INPUT SUDDENLY LOSING POWER, AND (3) THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND (4) MY BRAKES STOPPED WORKING. I TRIED TO COUNTER STEER TO MOVE THE TRUCK TO THE SIDE TO THE STREET BUT THE TRUCK WOULD NOT STOP. THE TRUCK THEN SKID, WENT OVER THE CURB AND HIT A LIGHT POST THAT FELL ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE DODGE RAM AND DAMAGED THE CAR HEAVILY. IF IT HAD FALLEN ON THE ROOF MY PASSENGERS AND I WOULD BE DEAD. POLICE REPORT AND FOUR WITNESSES. ELEVEN DAYS AFTER THE SECOND ACCIDENT, A RECALL FOR DODGE RAM 1500 MODEL YEARS 2015-2016 CAME OUT FOR STEERING. THE RECALL IS FOR THE IDENTICAL MALFUNCTIONING STEERING COMPONENT THAT CAUSED MY SECOND ACCIDENT. CALLED MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT MY VIN # IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL, WHICH MEANS FOR THEM THAT MY CAR WAS MADE AT A DIFFERENT FACILITY FROM THE RECALLS AND IS NOT OF CONCERN FOR THEM. DESPITE THAT MY 2015 DODGE RAM 1500 IS THE MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR OF THE RECALL AND DESPITE THE FACT THAT I TOLD THEM I HAD JUST HAD THAT EXACT STEERING MALFUNCTION, I WAS DENIED THE RECALL.

A MONTH AFTER PURCHASING THE TRUCK, I RECEIVED A NOTICE OF THREE RECALLS,AIR BAGS, LEFT REAR AXEL, AND MIDDLE COMPARTMENT DOOR.
VEHICLE WAS IN PARK RUNNING AND UNOCCUPIED FOR APPROXIMATELY 4 MINUTES WHEN THE VEHICLE ROLLED AWAY BACKWARDS STRIKING A LARGE TREE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE CHROME LATCH USED TO OPEN THE CENTER CONSOLE REELECTED SUNLIGHT INTO THE CONTACT'S EYES. WHEN THIS OCCURRED, THE CONTACT WAS BLINDED AND UNABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT WAS THE ONLY TYPE OF LATCH COVER THAT THEY OFFERED FOR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,000.
THE RAM 2015 PASSENGER SIDE TOW PACKAGE LARGE MIRROR OPTICS ARE POORLY DESIGNED FOR VIEWING TRAFFIC ON THE REAR AND SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT LARGE PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR IS MAGNIFIED,AND PROVIDES POOR VIEWING COVERAGE OF OTHER VEHICLES. IT CREATES TUNNEL VISION WITH MANY BLIND SPOTS. IT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO ADJUST THE MIRRORS TO SEE TRAFFIC AROUND THE VEHICLE. I HAVE TRIED TO GET THE MANUFACTURER TO REPLACE THE MIRROR BUT THEY JUST GIVE ME THE RUN AROUND, AND REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS SAFETY CONCERN. THE STANDARD MIRROR FOR 2015 DODGE RAMS IS PARABOLIC WITH THE WORDS PRINTED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE MIRROR "OBJECTS IN MIRROR ARE CLOSER THAN THEY APPEAR" IS OK . THIS IS SAME AS MY LAST PICKUP A 2005 RAM 1500 AND THE MIRRORS ARE GREAT, BUT MY NEW 2015 RAM PASSENGER SIDE MIRRORS INCLUDED IN THE TOW PACKAGE ARE VERY UNSAFE TO OPERATE. I WOULD THINK PAYING AN EXTRA $410 FOR THE TOW PACKAGE MIRRORS OPTION WOULD IMPROVE THE VIEW, BUT JUST THE OPPOSITE IS TRUE THE MIRRORS ARE UNSAFE. ANY DAY I USE MY NEW RAM 2015, GIVEN THE HIGH AND LIMITED VIEW OF FULL A SIZE PICKUP I RISK GETTING INTO AN ACCIDENT. THE DEALER PERSONNEL HAVE DRIVEN THE TRUCK AND AGREE IT IS UNSAFE BUT CAN'T GET THE MANUFACTURER TO DO ANYTHING. I HAVE OPENED A CASE NUMBER WITH CHRYSLER, #28409386, ADMINISTRATOR "ANGEL", AND TRIED TO GET THEM TO TAKE ACTION BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. AT THE DEALER RECENTLY I NOTICED 3 TRUCKS IN THE BODY SHOP WITH THE SAME TOW PACKAGE MIRRORS ALL WRECKED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BY RUNNING INTO VEHICLES. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND A RECALL WHERE CHRYSLER REPLACES THE TOW PACKAGE MIRROR WITH A STANDARD PARABOLIC MIRROR, USED BY ALMOST EVERYONE IN VEHICLES. CHRYSLER DOES NOT HAVE THE MIRROR AVAILABLE, NOR AFTER MARKET PARTS, WITHOUT CHANGING OUT THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY AT A COST OF $1,100 - WHICH IS RIDICULOUS.
TRUCK HAD A LEAK BEHIND THE DASH WHICH COULDN'T BE REPAIRED AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS. MOISTURE WITHIN THE CAB OF THE TRUCK HAS CAUSED ANYTHING METAL IN THE CAB TO RUST AND HAS ALSO AFFECTED SOME ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS. I NOTICED THE LEAK MORE WHILE THE TRUCK WAS STATIONARY DURING HEAVY RAINS/SNOW. LEAK WAS NOTICED IN OR AROUND 11/2015 AND CONFIRMED IN 1/2016 AND IS NOW ASSUMINGLY REPAIRED. RUST IS A MAJOR CONCERN ALONG WITH MOISTURE THAT MAY HAVE AN AFFECT ON ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS OF THE VEHICLE.
I'VE HAD A WOBBLE/SHIMMY IN THE REAR END OF THE TRUCK FROM THE START. HAVE ALIGNED, BALANCED AND ROTATED TIRES AND NOW NEW TIRES. TRUCK REAR END WOBBLES AT SPEEDS ABOVE 50 MPH. DODGE DEALERSHIP SAYS NO PROBLEMS WITH TRUCK AND NO RECALLS ARE AVAILABLE. I SEE INFORMATION OUT ON THE WEB OF OTHER OWNERS AND SAME PROBLEMS.

2015 RAM 1500 LARAMIE LIMITED 4X4 COMPONENT PART OR SYSTEM THAT CAUSED THE SAFETY RISK - UNKNOWN MY TRUCK WAS PURCHASED NEW WITH 115 MILES ON THE ODOMETER ON 10/13/2015 AT HEBERT'S TOWN & COUNTRY. ON 10/16/2015, WITH JUST OVER 200 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, MY WIFE AND I WERE RETURNING HOME FROM DATE-NIGHT. WE WERE TRAVELING AT 60 MPH DOWN LA3132 WHEN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WENT BLACK, THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN, MOST ALL ELECTRONICS, TO INCLUDE THE HEADLIGHTS, CEASED FUNCTIONING AND THE RPM & MPH GAUGES CONSTANTLY BOUNCED UP AND DOWN. I WAS ABLE TO COAST SAFELY TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AS THE TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT. I COULD NOT RESTART THE VEHICLE SO, IT HAD TO BE TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. FIVE DAYS LATER, I TOOK RE-DELIVERY OF MY TRUCK WITH AN ADDITIONAL 200 MILES ADDED TO THE ODOMETER AND A VERBAL EXPLANATION (NO PAPERWORK) THAT THE POWER DISTRIBUTION CENTER HAD TO BE REPLACED. UPON RE-DELIVERY WITH MY SALESMAN PRESENT, I ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE AND THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER BLACKED OUT AND THE GAUGES BOUNCED. MY SALESMAN WENT TO GET A SERVICE TECH BUT, WHILE HE WAS GONE, I HEARD A CLICK IN THE DASH AND EVERYTHING STARTED WORKING AGAIN. ON 12/11/2015, WITH JUST UNDER 60 DAYS OWNERSHIP AND RIGHT AT 700 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, I WAS RETURNING HOME FROM SHOPPING, TRAVELING DOWN A RESIDENTIAL STREET, WHEN THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS SUDDENLY HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME, I WAS TRAVELING AT 30 MPH AND APPROACHING AN S-CURVE WITH NO HEADLIGHTS AND NO STREET LIGHTS. I LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AS THE BRAKES WERE VERY HARD TO APPLY AND I ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT BEFORE FINALLY GETTING IT STOPPED. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN BECAUSE I COULD NOT RESTART IT AND THE GAUGES WERE BOUNCING. MY TRUCK IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP. I'M NOT SURE I WANT TO TAKE RE-DELIVERY OF THIS PARTICULAR TRUCK.
12/2015 I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK AND WENT TO TURN INTO A BANK ATM AND COULDN'T SLOW OR STOP MY TRUCK FOR THE TURN. THE BRAKES WENT ALMOST ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I STARTED PUMPING THEM AND WAS FINALLY ABLE TO SLOW AND STOP THE TRUCK. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO A DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN 2 WEEKS LATER AND I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE DEALER THAT I PURCHASED IT FROM. THEY ALSO COULD NOT FIND ANY ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES BEING SOFT. 5/4/2016 I AGAIN HAD ISSUES. I GOT INTO THE TRUCK; STARTED IT UP WENT TO PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO PUT THE TRUCK INTO DRIVE AND THE BRAKES WERE SOFT. I HAD TO PUMP THEM BRAKES A FEW TIMES BEFORE I COULD PUT IT IN DRIVE. I LOVE MY DODGE TRUCKS; BUT THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE.

IN FACT ON 4/8/16, IT JERKED ME UP ONTO A CONCRETE STOPPER AT TACO BELL, IN DADE CITY, FL. ONE YEAR LATER, UPON ACCELERATION A CLUNKING NOISE IN THE REAR END STARTED HAPPENING. SO ON 10/10/16 (ONE YEAR LATER), 25,000 MILES LATER, AND AFTER NUMEROUS TIMES IN/OUT OF THE SHOP, WHERE THE TECHS CLAIMED THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE IT OR SAID "THAT WAS THE WAY THE TRANSMISSION WORKED AND THAT THEY HAD NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER DODGE RAM TRUCK DRIVERS ABOUT THE SAME THING, INCLUDING EMPLOYEES THAT OWNED THEM" THEY SAID THE DRIVESHAFT SLIP STICK WAS CAUSING THE CLUNKING, SO THEY REPLACED THE DRIVESHAFT OR PROPELLER SHAFT. THE CLUNKING AND JERKING STOPPED. FOUR MONTHS LATER ON 2/23/17 THE SAME STRONG JERKING STARTED AGAIN. TECHS CONTINUALLY STATED THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE JERKING, BUT THE MINUTE I WOULD LEAVE THE DEALERSHIP IT WOULD JERK. I HAVE A DISABLED PLACARD AND FREQUENTLY PARK IN A DISABLED SPOT. UPON PULLING UP, THE TRUCK JERKS FORWARD AND I'VE NEARLY HIT THE DISABLED POLE. MY FEAR IS THAT IT IS GOING TO JERK FORWARD AND CAUSE ME TO HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE OR WORSE YET, A PERSON IN A CROSSWALK. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
I WAS TRAVELING ON I-35 FROM AUSTIN TO SAN ANTONIO IN MY BRAND NEW 2015 DODGE 1500 WHEN MY 'SERVICE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM' LIGHT CAME ON, THE TRUCK STARTED SHACKING SO HARD I COULD BARELY HOLD IT ON THE ROAD, WHEN I GOT PULLED OVER THE DRIVER SIDE BACK TIRE WAS ON FIRE, RIGHT UNDER THE GAS TANK. THE LEFT REAR CALIPER HAD A MASSIVE FAILURE THAT CLAMPED DOWN ON THE PAD.
BRAND NEW TRUCK WITH 4412 MILES ON IT AT TIME OF OCCURRENCE. MY TRUCK WAS PARKED AT WORK AND I HAD STARTED IT TO WARM IT UP. IT WAS 32 DEGREES OUTSIDE AND TURNED ON MY REAR DEFROSTER FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE OWNING THE TRUCK. WITHIN 2 MINUTES ONLY THE DRIVERS SIDE OF MY 3 PART REAR DEFROSTER WINDOW WAS WORKING. IT GOT HOT ENOUGH THAT IT BROKE THE GLASS. THE CORNER WHERE THE WIRE CONNECTION IS WAS HOT TO THE TOUCH AND IT BURNED THROUGH A STICKER I HAVE ON THE REAR WINDOW. I TOOK IT TO MY DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN THAT BEFORE. THE NEXT DAY I WAS TOLD THAT CHRYSLER DENIED MY WARRANTY, BECAUSE THEY DON'T COVER GLASS. MY QUESTION TO THEM WAS IF I PAY OUT OF POCKET TO REPLACE THE WINDOW WILL THE DEFROSTER MALFUNCTION AGAIN? THEY TOLD ME TO FILE A CLAIM WITH CHRYLER WHICH I DID. ON RAMFORUMZ.COM SOMEONE ELSE WITH A 2015 RAM 1500 SAID THEY HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN TO THEM. IT IS STARTING TO GET COLD IN THE US AND I THINK THIS PROBLEM IS GOING TO BE SHOWING UP A LOT WHEN PEOPLE GO TO USE THEIR DEFROSTERS.
WHILE THE TRUCK WAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FROM OCT 5TH TO PRESENT, THE UCONNECT SYSTEM SENT ME AND EMAIL WARNING AT 4:30PM ON OCT. 16TH ABOUT A MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT REGARDING THE POWER TRAIN. WHEN I WENT TO PICKUP THE TRUCK ON OCT 20TH THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ON AND THE SERVICE MANAGER COULD NOT GET IT TO GO OFF -SO WE LEFT IT THERE. THIS WAS AFTER THE DEALERSHIP FIXED THE OIL IN THE COOLANT SYSTEM, WHICH WAS FOUND TO BE CAUSED BY A BROKEN OIL COOLANT PUMP. THE NEW WARNING MESSAGE THAT WAS SENT STATES "POWERTRAIN: PROLONGED DRIVING WITH THE MALFUNCTION LIGHT ON COULD CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM. IF THE MALFUNCTION LIGHT IS FLASHING, SEVER CATALYTIC CONVERTER DAMAGE AND POWER LOSS WILL SOON OCCUR. HAVE YOUR VEHICLE SERVICED AT YOUR DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY."
BOUGHT NEW LAST WEEK. DROVE AT NIGHT AND THE HEADLIGHTS ARE SO DIM I HAVE TO USE HIGH BEAMS RATHER THAN THE STANDARD HEADLIGHTS. SAFETY ISSUE FOR NIGHT DRIVING.
WENT TO DO AN OIL CHANGE AND NOTICED OIL IN THE COOLANT EXPANSION TANK. TOOK PICTURE AND SHOWED DEALERSHIP. THEY ASKED US TO HAVE IT TOWED IN. THIS IS A LARMINE ECO DIESEL WITH 9,600 MILES ON THE ENGINE. DEALERSHIP STILL HASN'T FIGURED OUT WHAT THE "DID NOT TRAIN" ERROR MESSAGE WAS -PREVIOUSLY REPORTED ALONG WITH THE STEERING SHACKING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 50 AND 70 MPH VEHICLE HAS EXCESSIVE VIBRATION THAT SEEMS TO BE FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. HAD TIRES BALANCED BY A TIRE SHOP AND PROBLEM PERSISTED. DEALERSHIP REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES AND WHEELS AND THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. INFORMED DEALERSHIP OF TSB SB-16-001-1, WHICH IS EXACTLY THE PROBLEM I HAVE. THEY INFORMED ME THEY'VE NEVER HEARD OF THE TSB. SIMILAR TO OTHER COMPLAINTS FILED AND RESEARCHED CONCERNING REAR VIBRATION ISSUES WITH 2015 RAM TRUCKS.
NOTICED DURING MY FIRST OIL CHANGE AT APPROX 1580MILES THAT BOTH FRONT WHEEL HUB BEARINGS WERE LEAKING GREASE. I DID NOT THINK MUCH OF IT AT THE TIME, CLEANING IT. AFTER APPROX 6000 MILES OR SO, I CHECKED THE FRONT TWO HUB WHEEL BEARINGS AND AGAIN THERE WAS SEEPAGE OF BEARING GREASE COMING OUT OF THE WHEEL HUB SEAL. CLEANED IT AGAIN. I LAST CHECKED AT APPROX 12000 MILES AND THERE WAS LITTLE RESIDUE STILL EMITTING FROM BOTH FRONT WHEEL HUB BEARINGS. I CHECKED FOR WHEEL PLAY BY RAISING FRONT OFF THE GROUND AND HOLD 9.15 AND 12.30 POSTITIONS BUT NO PLAY WAS NOTED. CONCERNED THAT BOTH WHEEL HUB BEARINGS WERE DEFECTIVE FROM NEW SINCE THEY LEAKED FROM NEW. I AM ASSUMING THE NEXT STEP WOULD BE PLAY AND WOBBLE ONCE THE FRONT HUBS FAIL, THEN EVENTUALLY FRONT WHEELS FALLING OFF.
I purchased this truck brand new and am the original owner. This truck has been in the dealers procession probably over 50 times and in the shop probably close to 200 days. Most all repairs have been about computer, smog, or other engine problems. Chrysler has extended my warranty out into 2025 and extended the miles to 125k . I currently have 82k miles. It just was in the dealer 1 month ago and currently has check engine light on again. They state it is for a recall they have no current fix for and it sounds like their not even working on one. I was told that this years model with the 3.0 diesel will be the last. I went to then ask for a trade in value from a Ram Chrysler dealer, and was told they could only give me low auction value. I have an additional over $7k in improvements that I will loose. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you
