Was driving thru and turning right when my steering just started pulling and had to turn other way to correct my trucks path and then it just wouldn't turn much and got real stiff.... Afraid to drive it anymore and seen this issue was being investigated... This issue almost got me and my 3 boys into a wreck!
lost control of power steering pulled battery down and stalled vehicle
Intermittent loss of power steering.
Sudden loss of power steering at slow speeds. There was no warning lights prior to loss of power steering. I was able to avoid accident by moving quickly into a parking lot There is recalls for The EPS from 2013 to 2015 manufacturing date starting January 22nd of 2015 My truck was manufactured January 6th. There are two recall numbers s19 covers 2013 to2015 along with VB9 covers 2013 to 2019.
Power steering became stiff and eventually quit. After driving to destination steering returned to very stiff condition. Risk safety involved a 20 mile curvy 2 lane road. I do not feel safe continuing to drive this vehicle.
Driving down the road and the steering wheel light came on and I slowed down and tried to turn and it was locked in position and had to have it towed. Now I'm stuck with no vehicle as mine is about 3 hours away from home. Waiting on parts to come in.
Traveling at 60MPH on a highway in the middle lane when my truck lost complete power steering. It felt as if I had zero control over my truck at a high speed. I managed to slow down and made it onto the shoulder without crashing. Had my truck towed to Dodge Chrysler ram dealership. Before dropping it off I saw there were at least 10 recalls for my truck that I mentioned to technician. They plugged my truck into their scanner and the technician got in my truck and drove it right into the shop bay. I’m unsure how he was able to maneuver the truck after plugging it in. After diagnosing the problems with my truck they called to tell me that none of the recalls affected my vehicle and they weren’t repairing anything. My gas tank also detached from my vehicle while driving and I knew that was covered. Over a week arguing and proving they are responsible to repair it. They repaired the gas tank and refused to look into the rest of recalls. I could’ve died and hurt many others driving by the loss of power steering traveling at that speed. Truck was fine then randomly loses full control. There are open recalls for my exact truck with this exact issue. The dealership refused to acknowledge any of it.
The power steering was intermittently not working at slower speeds. This went on for 4 months. Now the power steering has completely stopped working which happened while driving making it extremely difficult to control.
My 2015 Ram 1500, Electronic Power Steering stopped working while driving on a two lane road putting myself and others in serious danger, the wheel abruptly became difficult to turn and maneuver the car, causing me to drift onto the shoulder. The car had to be towed as it was unsafe to drive, and once diagnosed by a mechanic the whole unit has to be replaced as they are not serviceable.
Sudden & unexpected power assist failure of the electronic power steering system (EPS). It had an intermittent failure for approximately 3 seconds before total failure then the steering warning illuminated in the instrument cluster. I feel that this absolutely is a safety issue, as the steering is extremely difficult to operate without the rack being powered, much more so than old style power assist, say if the belt came off of an older generation power steering system. There are no OBD2 codes associated with this failure.
The vehicle starts but the steering wheel won’t move. It’s very stiff and takes two pairs of hands to turn it to the left or right.
Steering locked up while traveling down highway unable to turn the Steering wheel had to be towed from highway. NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 16V16700. Electric power steering would randomly fail. No inspections have been done due to it being recently, no warning lights.
My 2015 ram ecodiesel is getting a brake light for ABS, traction control, emergency brake all not working. Dealership wants 4000 to fix it with a part that’s back ordered 2yr. I’m having a hard time understanding if so many people online are having this issue why it’s not a SAFETY RECALL. The stock part failed at no fault of the customers.
The power steering assist is not working and it can be replicated. Very hard to turn and over steering a safety issue, Accident risk as wheel does not return to straight position. There were no warning lights at all. I called stellaris customer service and documented but advised that my vin number was not on the safety recall list which is why I am reporting this. They said I can repair at ,y own expense which I can not afford to do. My case number at stellaris is 94706058
There is intermittent steering lock, that typically happens at slower speeds and when returning back to center/straight. When it happens, there is also a warning chime that occurs. It just started happening in Sept 2025 and has continued to occur since then.
Warning light for EPS and fuel pressure censor
Electric Power Steering Unit suddenly failed upon start-up of vehicle. This truck manufactured in Feb. of 2015 but DID NOT receive NHTSA 16V-167000. The Safety Recall indicates RAM 1500 trucks manufactured from Jan. 22, 2015 to Sept. 13, 2015. This truck is within manufactured recall dates so why isn't it flagged?
