Vehicle would not shift out of first gear. Turned off vehicle and turned back on, still would not shift out of first gear. Our safety was at risk because we could not drive the minimum speed limit. We have not been able to get into a mechanic yet, we pulled it over at a shop nearby and they are booked out so we are waiting inspection and without our vehicle, but wanted to report the issue as we have seen online that many people have had the exact same issue and they also report that it is hard to replicate, that it is random when this issue occurs. Police witnessed our inability to drive fast. Based off of how many people I have seen have complained about this issue online I would hope a recall would be made as this is clearly a malfunction of this vehicle and a safety issue. The vehicle is undriveable and we do regular maintenance checks for this vehicle. This issue just came out of the blue. There was a light that came on at the time of the issue that said "service trailer break" and "service electrical stability control", we have not tried to turn it on since we had to leave it at the shop.
Wire harness is available for inspection Wire harness for rear parking sensors needed to be replaced. Sensors not active which could have caused a collision. Service tech at dealership says they have seen many wire harness failures. Parts have NOT been inspected by any party Dashboard showed need to take front and rear parking sensors in for service
Excessive play in steering, especially during turns, truck tends to slightly drift
Only 65000 miles I wash everytime all the truck undercarriage is rust easy especially the oil pan in the engine. And I check too many people make complaints about the oil pan. Now my oil pan is crack and rust and it's $3000 to fix its insane. 4 years and gone. Car value over $45000.
RAM vehicles that are equipped with the 5.7 L hemi engine are known to have cracked exhaust manifold. This has been an ongoing issue since the 5.7 engine was introduced. Ram has done nothing to remedy. This RAM is continuing to charge consumers for Repair for a known issue. The consumers who do bring this to the dealership to have this repaired, or on a waitlist for at least 4 to 7 months for the part to come from manufacturer, while they are still producing 5.7 L engines with the same manifold why consumers are waiting a lot of 4 to 7 months, they have now elapsed their manufacture warranty and are not covered under that warranty and now need to come out of pocket for this repair This is a money grab and RAM. Needs to be Held responsible for this.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH, the windshield wipers were activated, and the passenger’s side windshield wiper arm started striking against the hood of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V208000 (Visibility). The dealer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The contact was referred to the manufacturer for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 62,500.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the power steering assist failed to operate while starting the vehicle with the "Power Steering Unavailable - Service Required" message displayed. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure but offered no assistance. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V812000 (Steering) which he linked to the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000.
Unsure to what's causing the issue, dealership will look at it but feel it is a customer issue not a truck issue however among further investigation this seems to be a common issue amongst these model trucks, I have spoken with other people who have experience the same issues as well as researched it online where many people have also experienced the issue. The seatbelt light alongside the airbag light will come on intermently saying that the passenger side seat belt is unbuckled and it is in fact not. I have spoken with individuals who have gone to the dealership for this issue and they have found it to be a wiring issue.
Defective shifter. Vehicle is automatically shifting in Park while in drive causing vehicle to stop moving while driving, in traffic or at a stop light. Vehicle accelerated and cut off in the middle of an intersection and almost got rear ended because vehicle would not move. When shifting to drive again it immediately switched to park stranded me in the middle of on coming traffic. This is horrific especially if it would happen on an interstate. This happened also at a gas station putting the truck in reverse backed a little bit than automatically shifted to park stranding me in the middle of the parking lot. I had to turn off the truck and start it to shift back in gear. The truck shifted by it self multiple times. This safety issue could be detrimental. I was scared to continue driving my truck. Turning in front of someone had me nervous because when I tried to accelerate the truck shifted in to park and stopped moving multiple times. Reaching the internet to find out why. I found multiple people had the same issues. This need to be fixed before it cost the life of someone
The sun visor fails to stay secure and falls from its mounting post - obscuring vision. My driver side did this while under warranty, and was replaced. The passenger side is now falling. Online forums indicated it is a common problem others have as well. Other posts on such forums indicate that dealers know this is an issue and have replaced them out of warranty because of this. I called and reported this to the dealer that did the first repair (covered by warranty) and they said it is no longer covered. I have not had my vehicle inspected for the failure. There are no warning lights or sensors indicating the failure.
Parked vehicle for 2 days and when I turned vehicle back on power steering was out. Vehicle had to be towed to repair shop. Power steering module went bad.
Vehicle after driving and shutting off, fails to start. Only having an audible click noise. Truck required to be towed to home. Battery provided sufficient voltage and shows to have continuity from starter relay to solenoid. Disconnected the negative battery connector overnight. After sitting unplugged from battery overnight and reconnecting in morning, the truck started 1st attempt, however now has several codes popping up P1DF3, P2111, P2017 and U0402. (There were no prior issues: as truck would start and drive with no delay and no service engine lights.) After the 3rd attempt to start the truck after previously having the negative cable disconnected, it failed to start and would only have the audible click sound. Vehicle milage is less than 36,000. This is a risk to consumers as the faulty start may leave a party in unsafe environment, or cause financial burden risk due to a required need to tow the vehicle, or may cause damage to components for continued attempts to start the vehicle. In researching this have seen multiple forums that disconnected this to be a large issue for the Dodge Ram, this should be required to be a Recall to fix the ESM/TCM that is causing this issue.
Good morning, I am the proud owner of a 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 Hybrid, which is one of 4 I have owned over the majority of decade. While I obviously have put my trust in Ram for a really long time, that trust has been being betrayed since I have owned this one. In the last 6-months alone, my Ram has been down awaiting one spare part or another. Parts that Ram recognized as a problem shortly after the 2019 Hybrid 1500 was released and made several mid-model-year engineering changes, but never issued a recall, and because those replacement parts like the New Alternator Harness, are only just now being released with most having a 6-12 week lead time. The Alternator Harness being one of the parts that my Ram has been waiting on now for more than a month. That said, if that had of been the only problem, there’s a strong probability that I wouldn’t have mentioned it! With this being the 3rd time in 2023 and another on late 2022, and not having the new (used) Ram I just bought and pay $850 a month for (not including insurance), and it with it seeming to be more of a systemic issue, with literally thousands of people dealing with similar issues on their 2019 and it’s something that needs to be addressed, as even if it wasn’t thousands, but only hundreds, or even 1-person having these issues, if Ram saw these as significant enough issues, that they felt it necessary to re-engineer them, then Ram’s customers shouldn’t be stuck paying out their hard earned money, for vehicle that should have never been released with the original parts design. In the instance with my 2019 Ram, having it be out of commission for almost have 2023 is hard yo chew! Especially when it has less than 50,000-miles, with only roughly 10,000 coming since I bought it in October 2021. When you add the fact that Ram redesigned the number of parts they did, then never did a recall, but still force the Customers to pay for those parts! My Ram has been down for almost 6-months just this year
I believe it is related to the mild-Hybrid (eTorque) setup as this appears to only occur on those models of pickup trucks. Steps to reproduce: - Car sits all day outside my office in Virginia summer heat - Turn on car without A/C so the Start/Stop can engage. - Approach stop light and Start/Stop engages for the duration of the stop - After waiting ~4 minutes for the light to turn, when I release my foot from the brake there is a sharp jolt/lurch and the truck appears to stall or fall out of gear. There are times, where it will not fall completely out of gear, but will jolt violently from a stop as the engine restarts. - The instrument clusters displays "Shift to P and then desired gear" - After applying the break and following the above direction, the truck will resume normal operation Safety Concerns: While this happens to me at a stop light while turning onto a main road, there is nothing stopping this from happening when I attempt to accelerate into traffic or across a busy intersection without a light. Dealer Reproduction: The dealer is aware and has seen the truck many times, but has been unable to reproduce the issue. They have tried various PCM and TCM updates, but, so far, none have resolved the issue. Inspection: The dealer has inspected the vehicle and has found no trouble codes Other notes: - No warning messages or indications prior to this happening. I first noticed this at 34K miles and am now at 46K miles. - I am curious if this is related to: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2023/RCLRPT-23V265-2735.PDF but slightly less severe in that it doesn't happen while moving. Reports have indicated that cleaning the throttle body may offer some relief which would support this hypothesis. - I have and can provide video of my truck exhibiting these symptoms
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel) and 23V411000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and a case was opened. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available. The contact stated on 1/15/24 the engine blew up (hole in engine) and axles broke while driving on the freeway. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to fix and they will not cover it.
Exhaust manifold bolts broken on both banks and warped manifolds because of inferior product, common on all 5.7 hemi, exhaust gases get in the cab of truck at times, Dodge is aware and elects to do nothing about it after getting my 70000 dollars, complete bullshit, look on any ram forum and you will see
It is 4-13-2025, current milage 40,000. 2019 Ram 1500 classic Hemi 5.7 Bighorn 4x4 crew cab short bed. I have had an ongoing problem with fuel refilling for over a year and after 26,000 miles. I contacted Gary Barbera in Phila PA with out any info if this will be still under warranty. Refilling less than 0.5 gal and the pump shuts off. No codes, No check engine light. This has been a headache with no answer. I found a service bulletin to adjust the fill neck and that was unsuccessful. Everything online is leaning to roll over valve and the dealership wont touch it or explain if warranty still applies.
The safety warning light came on when starting the vehicle. We checked the owners manual and called the dealership to schedule an appointment. Advised of the recall by NHTSA they said no recall under our VIN. Took it to the dealer on [XXX] they did not schedule the appointment for the recall, showed them online the NHTSA recall but said Chrysler hadn’t notified them of any recall under our VIN. However, when the service advisor looked up the error code it shows the same code as the recall by NHTSA, codes V61 and V71. Our vehicle is a 2019 Classic Ram Dodge Pickup VIN [XXX] . We have also call FCA/Chrysler Fiat and advised them of the problem, Cesar referred us to NHTSA saying you send them VIN’s of vehicles that have incurred this error. Vehicle makes a grinding noise every other start. I believe this si the rack and pinio might be failing. An even louder grinding noise when making a right turn. Showing sign of a defective Rack & Pinion with shake ride again at high speeds on the highway not constant lately but higher frequency has accured. I noticed there's a recall for the rack & Pinion but it shows that my vehicle is not affected. Please add my vehicle to that recall and or further investigate
OBDII Codes P0300: multiple/random cylinder misfire detected P000A: A camshaft position slow response bank 1
exhaust manifold bolts broke allowing exhaust gases into truck.
The Motor Generator Unit stopped charging the battery, which in turn made my battery die. This can be inspected. I was put at risk due to being broke down out of town on the side of a main street. The vehicle was inspected by a local mechanic shop as a Ram dealership was not within their city limits. They were the only ones to inspect it. Prior to the battery completely dying, my check engine light and low battery light came on within 10 seconds of each other. My battery died within 15 to 20 minutes of that happening.
was driving on turnpike with family in the rain going 70 when my truck shut down.I coasted to the side. truck had no power. Seems rear window leaked on electrical components causing short. the seems to be common in these trucks
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 MPH, the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The contact was able to pull off the roadway. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 100,300.
Rear window leak
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost power steering assist. The contact stated that unknown warning lights were illuminated, and messages were displayed. Additionally, the windshield wipers activated independently. The contact pulled over and waited before restarting the vehicle. The vehicle was driven to a local dealer however, the dealer was unable to diagnose the vehicle successfully. The dealer had made repairs for the failure previously. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The approximate failure mileage was 54,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving on the highway at 60 MPH the messages "Service Air Bag System", "Service Electric Stability Control", "Service Trailer Brake System", "Service Park Brake", "Service Anti-Lock Brake System" and "Service Power Steering" were displayed and several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that soon after, the transmission failed to shift into gears as intended, and the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The contact also stated that while driving and making turns the transmission will slip into neutral(N) upon depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact stopped the vehicle, shifted to park(P), shifted back to drive(D) and drove to the residence. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the Electric Harness and RF Hub had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage approximately 154,000.
I was driving 70mph on the freeway when my power steering stopped working. No warning lights came on. I slowed to 55 mph and it seemed to help. Steering is working currently but not sure for how long.

Parts distribution disconnect for NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the power steering assist intermittently failed without warning. The contact used excessive force to steer the vehicle during the failure. Additionally, the power steering assist would return while using excessive force, causing the vehicle to oversteer. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V812000 (Steering). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 67,000.
While driving at highway speeds on I-80 we first received a warning that the TPS system had failed and needed to be checked. I began looking for the next exit which was luckily not far away. Just as I excited the highway every other system started coming in the dash as failing and the windshield wipers began operating on their own. We lost power steering and brakes. This was especially difficult to a paid a crash because we were also towing a 4,000 lb camper at the time. We barley a wooded a crash and we were able to ring the vehicle to a safe spot before it finally shut down completely. The entire electrical system died while driving and all systems related to it malfunctioned simultaneously. The vehicle did not start back up and a tow truck was needed. The contact stated the Radio Frequency Hub needed to be replaced.
I was in a car accident and my airbags did not deploy. No warning lights on prior to the accident.
The sun visor/shade attachment to the roof is broken on both passenger and driver side. This is a known issue, which when the sun visor is down to block the sun, the visor will become dislodged from the ceiling causing the visor to drop suddenly into your line driving vison. This issue has been reported to RAM and is on all RAM forums. The forums indicate that RAM fixed this issue in future models but has not addressed this issue with all vehicles. This is a significant safety issue that RAM has failed to address.
2019 Ram 1500 Laramie. Currently 23,040 miles on odometer. Warning light comes on indicating failure of electronic braking control and trailer brake failure. This condition renders stability control, antilock braking, cruise control and trailer braking inoperative. Very dangerous situation when you lose your trailer brakes when towing. Dealer diagnosed as ABS module failed, part not available until approx. March 2024 (8 months). FCA part number 68295368AC. I consider vehicle unsafe to drive. This is a well known problem with no indication of desire by FCA to remedy issue.
Power steering was intermittent. And had to be towed to the dealership. There was an internal short in the power rack found. Similar to the recall on around 150,000 of the same year male and model.
Having trouble putting fuel into the tank. While attempting the refuel the vehicle the nozzle will constantly shut off and sometimes fuel will pour out of the filler neck onto the ground. I have to VERY slowly fill up the tank. Not sure if this is related but the fuel nozzle does not fit into the neck properly. Thank you
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 25-30 MPH and attempting to make a left turn, the power steering failure message illuminated. The vehicle became difficult to maneuver. While driving at slow speeds the steering wheel was slightly swaying from left to right. The failure occurs while idle as well. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Ram Rebel suffers from “Service Shifter” warning frequently; occasionally pits itself into neutral and requires to be put into park; front and rear park assist seem to be associated with this fault as well as it disables and enables randomly. Major electrical issue with shifter/transmission issues and parking sensors.
The power steering on my 2019 Ram 1500 stopped working while driving on Interstate Hwy 94 in Wisconsin in heavy holiday traffic on Friday, June 30, 2023. The steering wheel vibrated, I heard a warning sound, and a warning message came up that indicated the power steering needed servicing; there was immediate loss of the power steering; this all happened in 2-3 seconds. It was only because I was strong enough that I was able to exit the Interstate and return to my home about 90 miles away. Had my wife or another person with not as much strength been driving, they would not have been able to manage the situation. It is a definite safety issue. The next time I entered the vehicle a day or two later to have it inspected, it was working again. But, again, on Saturday, July 8, 2023, the same issue occurred on Wisconsin State Hwy 29, after driving approximately 80 miles. My wife was with me this time so she witnessed the event. We pulled into a truck stop to eat. When we returned to the vehicle, it was working again. On Tuesday, July 11, 2023, we had the vehicle inspected by Chilson’s Corner Motors of Cadott, Wisconsin. They determined that the gear rack and pinion system needed to be replaced. The cost was estimated to be $2500. They indicated (and we verified) that the VIN# was not included in the 2019 Rams that were recalled for this issue. After checking other possibilities to correct the issue, we called Chilson’s to order the Gear rack and pinion for the vehicle. Interestingly enough, they did not know how long it would take to receive the part as there was a back order on these parts.
Ram stated they fixed a previous 29 recall bcrm and pcm. Car will not turn off now bcrm failed 12 of 24 modules and engine won’t turn off.
This is an emissions issue. The exhaust manifold bolts have failed and are failing. This ultimately releases nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, benzene and formaldehyde fumes into the cabin area. Broken exhaust manifold bolts directly causes failed manifold gasket(s). Failed exhaust manifold gaskets causes emissions (nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, benzene and formaldehyde fumes) to be released and to build up in the engine compartment and into the cabin rather then safely through the exhaust system and catalytic converter and out the rear end of the vehicle. This problem has been confirmed by the dealer (documentation forthcoming). This problem was denied warranty repair by the extended warranty purchased at the dealership and by RAM customer service by phone 7/7/23 8:41 am. There were no warning lights or messages. The problem was identified by the dealer technician when inspecting for another unrelated issue.
Front part of moonroof just broke/exploded.
Merging onto highway at approximately 65 MPH, the sun was bright and I moved my driver’s side sun visor down and started to move it to block the sun from the driver window. The visor fell off and hung by only the electric wires. The visor hung blocking my forward vision as I merged at high speed I had to take my hand off the steering wheel and physically hold the visor out of my field of vision until I could safely exit the highway and park on the shoulder of I-5. I was able to push the visor support arm/rod back into the ceiling and hook the end back to the visor snap hold. The passenger side visor broke in the same fashion last summer and repeatedly falls out if the passenger attempts or use the visor. I’ve check web sites and see many others reporting the same safety issue. Very fragile plastic part.
My vehicle stalls on me and shuts off while driving. Brought it to the dealership at Quinn motors Gloucester, VA where I get all my oil changes done. They couldn't duplicate it. But it happens a couple times a month. I'll have to pull off as it's stalled. Turn it completly off then back on. Sometimes it starts back up and sometimes I have to wait a minute or two. I have blocked traffic numerous times because of these incidents happen at idle in drive at stop lights or stop signs. I have also recently had my dash go completely blank on me. No codes pop for either one of these events. Any help or advice would be great.
Steering wheel is getting stuck at 10 o’clock and 2 o’clock positions causing the wheel to not return to center without force drastically increasing the possibility to crash.
The Dodge Ram that I had just suddenly stop and not restart. Had it towed to the Ram dealership. Belt tension broke. That's what the dealership said.

The truck has stuttered since I bought it when downshifting when cold. Sometimes when it sputters during a downshift it will display the message “ship to p and select gear”. Meaning the vehicle has shifted from drive on its own. The only way to engage drive is to stop and select drive. This has happened on the freeway a couple of times and the dealer says they cannot isolate the issue.
Power steering has gone out twice while driving making it extremely hard to turn. A light comes on stating that "power steering is unavailable". I see that the same year, make and model has a recall for this, but my VIN does not. I have not taken to a dealer do to the expense that may occur.
There is a presence of a moldy smell in the car. After closer visual inspection, rear window frame had cracked in two spots allowing water from outside to get in and go behind the rear seats, making a carpets wet which produces the mold. Water also getting onto electrical systems like radio amplifier and rear seat ventilation making them corrode. There is no way an owner can find a problem under normal conditions making car occupants inhale harmful mold. This is a safety hazard and a common problem of a 5th gen Ram 1500.
