This vehicle has developed an exhaust manifold leak/problem. When I have taken it to the dealer, they inform me that although there is no recall pending, it is so prevalent that Ram has developed a repair kit for what is a known widespread problem. I believe that there is a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning to all users of vehicles that have developed this problem.
Lost power steering- got it back. Had some warnings lights come up then went away. Power steering went on and off while driving. Dealer working on repair said it’s not warrantied. $4500 repair. Dealer claims electrical connection to power steering rack failed from corrosion. How can a sealed connection corrode. Need help.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle experienced a loss of power steering assist. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the steering gear needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V812000 (Steering) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
Vehicle stalled and forced the transmission into Park while driving. Vehicle came to an instant halt. If this would’ve happened on a highway speeds this could have posed a serious safety risk. Vehicle very often stalls right after starting and the problem has been getting increasingly worse and more often. The vehicle has not been inspected by anybody and there are no warning lights.
While under warranty brought my vehicle to the dealer because I could not pump gas. The pump would continue to click off while fueling. Dealer told me that it may be the gas station that I'm going to and that they could not replicate the problem. Fast forward 6 months, the vehicle is now out of warranty and the problem has continued to the point where I can't put any fuel in. Brought it to another dealer and they said I need a new fuel pump and a new fuel tank at at cost of $2500. This should have been covered under the warranty but the first dealer was less than honest. I'm sure they knew what the issue was since there are numerous complaints similar to mine on this site. NHTSA should investigate and/or open a recall because RAM won't. This fuel issue isn't just related to the 2019 1500 but other years as well. Consumers are paying for repairs that RAM should be covering through the recall.
7 inch instrument cluster does not come on....started after a software update. This houses all information for safety concerning the truck.
When turning at low speeds to the right the steering will make a vibration and shake a little. At firts I thought was the abs or traction control acting up but now you can definitely feel the vibration coming from the electric assist.
The sway bar bushings failed under 36000 miles. I had been hearing a clunk since 25000k, and it was only diagnosed at 35000 miles. The issue started in Feb 2022, fixed in July 2022 under warranty. Initially looked at by Lindsay CDJR in Manassas VA. Second look by Farrish CDJR in Fairfax. June 2022. Repaired by Lindsay CDJR in Manassas VA.
The plastic frame at the top of the rear back glass has two cracks causing significant leaking into the cab of the vehicle.
my power steering doesn't work properly on my 2019 Ram 1500 classic. when i drive it goes in and out of power steering. i see there is a recall for FCA US has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain Electric Power Steering (EPS) gears intended for use on 2013 – 2019 Model Year (DS) Ram 1500 pickup trucks. Some EPS gear assemblies may have been built with a contaminated circuit card assembly that may short circuit. A short in the control circuit components may result in an intermittent loss of power steering assist which may cause an inconsistent steering effort, especially during lower speed maneuvers. Inconsistent steering effort can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning but both FCA and Duluth dodge refuse to inspected the vehicle because they say its not part of the recall.... but it was manufactured in 11/18 which falls into the time period
wipers arms keep coming loose and disconnecting. Spoke to Ram representative and they state that Safety Recall W25 / NHTSA 20V-208 does not include my VIN. Until more people complain about having the same safety problem they will not address issue.
Rear view camera first began blanking out in the morning, when the temperature was below 64 degrees F. About 6 months later, the camera began blanking out completely (regardless of temperature). The camera image is supposed to appear on the left side of the rear view mirror. Now, instead of the picture, there is an image of a camera icon with a slash through it (indicating lack of input from a camera).
I was driving my truck home and while approaching a stop sign I proceed to apply the brakes, my vehicle drop out of drive, the D on my shift knob began flashing and a message was displayed on the panel that stated " select the P (park) and then desired gear". I looked online to see if I was the only person having this issue and it turns out that this issue is all over the forums. I considered this to be potentially dangerous issue since this could also happen in traffic. I contacted the dealership and they stated that there was no recall notice for such an issue. They stated that they were backed up with service issues and could not look at my truck for weeks. I think RAM (FCA) should look into this issue asap.
Rear window shattered after using defrost
My passenger side wiper will quit working due to the nut loosening itself it has happened several times since I bought the truck. I noticed there is a recall for the year of truck I have but when I input my VIN it does not show a decal but I am having the same problems as the recall
During a rain storm wiper went out if sync then driver side either working erratic or not at all
AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE TRUCK WAS TOTALLED, AND I SUFFERED INJURIES.
Starter stopped working and needed to be replaced
Fuel injectors are misfiring veichle on multiple cylinders. Replaced all spark plugs and change fuel injector on misfires cylinder. Then 2 weeks later now another misfire on cylinder. Now changing all fuel injectors. Don't even have 10000miles on truck.
Rear window has a defective frame that cracks. These cracks allow water into the cabin of the truck where electrical components are located.
The navigation system has the car traveling in the wrong direction. The compass does not work and the navigation says the car is 100s of miles away from its actual location. It’s has been fixed once by the dealer and broke again. This will be my second radio. A compass not working or telling a driver to turn into a ditch could cause harm.
exhaust manifold cracked on both pass/driver side replaced at dealer now cracked again 85k miles don't pull or haul anything
ENGINE FAILURE: The engine is currently available for inspection. While driving approximately 50 mph, the engine quietly shutdown. The truck was immediately towed to a nearby Chrysler Dodge dealer and a tech tore the engine apart and claimed the #8 cylinder is bent, which caused catastrophic damage to the engine. No manufacture rep, police, or insurance rep or anyone else has inspected the engine so far. For almost a year, following a significant warrantied repair, a CHECK ENG light continued to illuminate. The same dealer (Jim Browne Chrysler Dodge Dade City, FL) the truck was towed to had previously completed a major warrantied repair to the engine. And the dealership reps continually claimed (at least 12 times) that the light was a "ghost" error code from the previous repair and that it wasn't anything to be concerned with. Since no additional repair was made, the dealership did not document a single one of the service calls regarding the 12 or so CHECK ENG light service visits. Jim Browne refused to repair the engine, because the vehicle now has approximately 5000 more miles on it than is covered by the 60,000 mile drivetrain warranty. A dealership rep also called their manufacturer rep and was told they were not interested in repairing the faulty engine. The vehicle has never towed a heavy load, never been loaded down with anything heavy, nor has it been used off-road.
Transmission falling out of gear when transmission fluid temperature under 100 degrees, error message "Shift to P then to desired gear" on dash when slowing to a stop, puts vehicle in neutral and the driver must shift the vehicle into park then put it back in drive to continue. The vehicle can be inspected upon request. This fault is has put me in danger multiple times a day, more notably when slowing to a stop at a red light, the vehicle was still at 12 MPH on the brakes, the light turned green and I had to pull over or get rear ended. The problem has been replicated multiple times by the technicians at my local CJDR dealer, and with live diagnostics the vehicle produced no error codes. I have contacted Ram Cares and they have said they would elevate it to a STARs case but my service advisor said it would be a drawn out process and said I should just get rid of it if I can make my money back. The vehicle has not been inspected by someone employed directly by Stellantis. The problems first appeared a week and a half after I purchased it.
Fuel tank won't take fuel in tank at almost empty it will only take 30cents of fuel and fills up neck and shuts off pump and spills all over the ground
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving 60 MPH, the steering wheel was difficult to maneuver. There was an unknown warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 11,861.
My steering wheel, at high speeds of 60+ mph, would "stick" when turning left, at approximately the 11 to 10 o-clock positions. This stickiness meant the wheel would not return back to center when releasing left turn pressure on its own. It would actually require small amount of force back the other way in which it would "pop" out of the sticky position, causing some very unsafe and scary jerk of the wheels. Both my wife and I experienced it every time the truck was driven on the freeway until we parked the truck due to it being unsafe to drive. I sent the vehicle to the local RAM dealership and they diagnosed it to be an entire "steering rack failure" that would need to be replaced at my cost because the factory warranty time period of 36 months ended, though the mileage period did NOT end as the truck only has 32,000 miles on it. There were no warning lamps or indicators and the truck is 100% stock with no modifications to the wheels, suspension, or drivetrain. The price quoted (not yet the final price) was $4,200.
Was driving, hit a moderate sized pothole and lost all power steering. Steering became extremely stiff and hard to turn. Was almost impossible to make turns to get out of the roadways. Vehicle had 42000 miles on it at the time of the incident. Steering rack needed to be replaced. Power steering rack should not fail under normal use conditions, especially when hitting said pothole did not damage any other suspension components, nor knock it out of alignment.
Just left my house. Came up to the second stop light, about 4 blocks away from my house , slowed down to stop for the red light when the truck just shuts off. The lights came on in the information center and stated to put the truck in park and restart the truck. There was a red lightning bolt displayed in the info center as well. This is about the 5th time the truck has done this, just stalling and shutting off for no reason. Seems to only do this within 5 minutes of starting the truck after it has been parked for hours.
I was Driving On the Highway doing about 70MPH and the truck shut down on me and i had to Coast to the Sholder across 3 Lanes of traffic. Truck would not restart and had to have it towed. Had to Have the Truck towed to Dodge and when they looked at it they put it on the Computer and there were no Issues. This is scary
The direction signals will only work when taking a right turn. The signal stalk will not return to the neutral position and the signal will not shut off after making a right turn. In order to shut off the right signal, I must pull the signal stalk to the left turn position. However, the left turn signal will not operate. Further when making a right turn the signal will begin operating even though I have not engaged the turn signal. The truck is only 38 months old, with only 18,600 miles on it. The turn signal is a lifetime part and should last decades and hundreds of thousands of miles. It is dangerous to operate the vehicle in traffic especially at night as I cannot signal a left turn. I took it to the dealer, but the service agent wanted me to pay $145 just to diagnose the problem and then parts and labor. The vehicle is just beyond the 36-month warranty, but at only 18,600 miles, the dealer should repair this as it is a safety issue.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while attempting the refuel the vehicle fuel would splash out of the filler neck and outside the vehicle and also the fuel nozzle would continuously shut off. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the fuel filler neck needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 15,000.
The dashboard cluster frequently goes blank. This is where I can see the speed I’m driving, if my oil needs to be changed, my backup camera and warning messages etc. this is a complete safety hazard. I went to get my inspection and emissions done and they couldn’t complete it because they couldn’t gather the information needed because the dash was blank. I also see that this an ongoing problem with rams and I’m not the only one, there have been 100s of people stating the same thing. I feel like this is something that needs to be rectified. My car is only 2 years old it shouldn’t be having these major issues already.
The rear window frame has cracked due to chasie flex. It's been repaired one time already.
I was dropping my child off at school. She said the seat belt was stuck. So her brother went to help her . Then she started screaming the seat beat was stuck around her waist . She could not breath. I parked the truck and ran around to help her. The seat belt was locked up I could not get it to release. The school principal saw the commotion and asked if she could help . I told her to grab a knife or scissors we need to cut the seat belt off. She ran and grabbed scissors and I cut the seat belt. She could have died if I was not at the right place at the right to me.
Power steering intermittently failing, then completely failed and is very hard to turn.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while the fuel tank was empty, it would not accept gasoline, and the gasoline overflowed out of the fuel tank and onto the contact's arms, which caused chemical burns. The contact received medical treatment for his injury. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed with a faulty fuel filter neck. The fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not provide any assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 58,000.
WILL NOT ACCEPT GAS FROM THE GAS PUMP AND THIS IS BEEN HAPPENING FOR THE LAST APPROXIMATELY SIX MONTHS THE GAS ATTENDANT TOLD ME THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH ALL RAM TRUCKS
1) The Fuel Pump broke on our 2019 Ram Big Horn. It only has around 40,000 miles on it. We had it towed to the dealership. They are going to replace the fuel pump mid to end of February due to part shortage. My wife was on the entry roadway to I95 when without warning the truck puttered and died on the entrance ramp. There was no warning lights, messages etc. Luckily she puttered to the side out of the way of speeding cars getting on I95. According to the dealership they have no idea how the fuel pump died. The dealership is the only party that inspected the vehicle. 2) The second problem we are having with the Ram, is the dashboard lights flicker on off for no particular reason. It just happens when it feels like it. We brought it to the dealership and of course it didn’t happen to them so they have no idea why the dashboard lights are going on and off. The rear defroster isn’t working. The battery died as well. We feel there is some type of electrical problem with the truck. We do not believe a vehicle with only 40,000 miles would have the fuel pump die. I know other Ram trims (2500, 3500 etc)have had recalls due to fuel pumps dying and dashboard lights going on and off for no reason. I think this is a problem that needs attention! My wife could have been killed on the ramp to I95
on January 1/23/2022 my vehicle was traveling at a speed of approx. 35mph in wintery conditions. A vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign and slide into the road way, and my vehicles front end collided with the side of their vehicle. All of the other vehicles air bags, front and sides, deployed. None of my airbags deployed at all. The vehicle had significant damage and was a total loss. The highway patrol, tow truck driver, the EMS, the Insurance adjuster, and the body shop all said "I can't believe your airbags didn't deploy". My VIN number does indicate a recall related to airbags, but indicates it was fixed. I feel there was definitely an issue that prevented them from deploying. The people commenting are experts as they respond to accidents of this nature as a career, so I feel their opinion warrants an investigation in this matter.
1. Rear glass seal failed as a result of manufacturer defect allowing water to leak into back of passenger compartment, just below the airbags in the rear/roof of the cab. 2. Concern is that increased moisture inside the passenger compartment may impact the functionality of air bag or other electronic systems. 3 & 4. Rear glass was inspected by the manufacturer and replacement was recommended. Defect with rear glass seal/cracked window frames is documented in MOPAR Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 23-016-21. This is a known issue to the manufacturer. 5. No warnings other than moisture build-up on the windows inside the passenger compartment and a saturated back seat and carpeting after wet weather.
Fuel tank has a cap less tank system that sprays gasoline all over the person pumping it. Most fuel pumps will not let fuel into the tanks causing the person who is fueling the vehicle to be splashed with fuel. The dealership wants $200 just to look at it but a local mechanic says the system is faulty. The emissions are fine and the tank will fill at certain gas stations. There are no warning messages or indications of any kind. You start fueling and bam! You’re covered in gasoline
While driving the truck it will randomly put itself in neutral and the dash will indicate it must shift to P then desired gear and the Gear selector will be blinking D which can only be done by stopping the truck completely. My dealer is unable to duplicate the issue. It has happened 4 times since i,ve owned it new. I have video of it doing it. I see others having the same issue on youtube and on ram forums if you google ram truck must shift to p to select gear. Imagine trying to cross lanes or merge with traffic and have your truck randomly go into neutral.
While I am driving my Rebel the transmission pops out of the driving gear while driving which makes me have no power when on the road. I have to come to a complete stop and put my truck into park and then back into drive before I can take off. Every time this has happened I have almost got hit by other cars with my family in the truck with me. Chrysler customer service rep hung up on me today and said there is nothing they can do about it. My dealer told me they can’t duplicate the problem so come pick up your truck. Not sure what to do, but I know I’m scared for anyone to drive this truck because it can be deadly. DCH Dodge of Temecula Ca sold me this truck I hope they can fix this problem for me. Chrysler has been useless they obviously don’t care about there customers lives. This is my 2nd transmission with only 35k miles on my truck
The rear window frame cracked. Water leaks into the interior. The window could fall out while traveling and create a road hazard or strike a vehicle behind me. It is a known issue as Ram has updated the part to correct the problem, but refuses to replace due to vehicle being 2 mos out of warranty and only 15k miles.
Timing chain cover leaking oil for 2nd time with only 32,000 miles on the vehicle. Ram dealer repaired once already in 2022. Loosing antifreeze but dealer says the vehicle is not. Service def system comes on at random and says see dealer. While this is happening it does a count down on the temperature gauge in the dash and check engine light comes on. Dealer say they can’t find anything wrong.
Both sun visor have failed in the past 3 years. The mount fails, causing the visor to fall out of the headliner and hang by a non-detachable wire. Closing the visor and trying to re-seat it does not always allow it to stay up. When if falls it hangs in the line of sight, obscuring the view of the road. Dealer service commented that this is a big problem. Needs redesign.
2019 ram 1500 continually shifts into park while the vehicle is moving. The problem occurs when slowing and the Ram attempts to downshift. The shift occurs when the vehicle speed is slowing below 25 mph. I have had the vehicle serviced for this issue and the dealer cannot solve the issue but “upgraded “ my software for $300 with no resolution. The dealer is now saying they can’t help me as they don't know what the issue is and their transmission expert isn’t available. I have almost been involved in over dozen accidents due to this happening. When slowing or coming to a stop at an intersection or in heavy traffic, when the vehicle malfunctions I either have to quickly shift the electronic knob to park and then back into gear. If that doesn't work, I have to stop the vehicle completely then shift into park and then drive. In 4 separate instances I was performing a left turn against oncoming traffic and the vehicle shifted into park came to a stop while crossing in front of other vehicles. This issue started to occur last year, would stop happening, start again, and recently occurs daily. Video of the issue is available.
The contact owns 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the leather on the dashboard near the windshield had bubbled up and risen due to the heat. Due to the failure, the contact's vision was obstructed while driving at various speeds. The contact called a local dealer and was informed that there was no recall on the VIN. The contact was provided an estimate for a new dashboard. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided the same information as the dealer. The contact was referred to the NTHSA Hotline to report the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.
The 3.6L Pentastar V6 oil filter housing assembly (found on 2011-2023+ Jeep, Dodge, Ram, Chrysler) is a common failure point where the plastic housing cracks, causing oil leaks, coolant contamination, and overheating. Replacing it with an upgraded aluminum unit is highly recommended for durability. The assembly is located under the intake manifold and requires removing the upper intake plenum and several components for access. Key Details for Replacement Common Failure: The OEM plastic housing becomes brittle from heat cycles, leading to oil/coolant leaks in the engine's valley. Upgrade Option: Upgrading to an all-aluminum housing prevents future cracks. Required Parts: New assembly (e.g., Dorman 926-959, 926-876 or Mopar 68596317AB/68596318AB), new O-rings (should be included), and new intake manifold gaskets. Process: Requires removing the upper intake manifold, removing the old housing (held by 5 E8 Torx screws), and cleaning the engine valley before installing the new unit.
