STEERING WHEEL OCCASIONALLY DOES NOT RETURN TO CENTER WHEN TURNING LEFT. I CAN LET GO OF STEERING WHEEL AND IT WILL STICK IN THE 10 O'CLOCK POSITION FOR EXAMPLE.
WE TOTALED OUR TRUCK 7/21/2019 AND THE PASSENGER AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY I HAD TO HAVE A CAT SCAN ON MY HEAD AND STILL HAVE A KNOT WE WERE IN THE TURNING LANE ON HWY 281 IN PALO PINTO COUNTY ,TEXAS SLOWED AND NOT SURE IF WE TURNED INTO A PRIUS OR SHE HIT US NO POLICE REPORT YET
TL* THE CONTACT CALLED ON BEHALF OF THE OWNER OF A 2019 RAM 1500 EQUIPPED WITH GOODYEAR WRANGLER DURATRAC TIRES, SIZE: LT275/70/R18 (NA). WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT. THERE WAS NO CRASH DUE TO THE BLOWOUT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A GOODYEAR TIRE DEALER TO BE INSPECTED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEEL BELTS WERE PUSHED OUT OUTSIDE OF THE TREAD ON THE TIRE DUE TO THE BLOWOUT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TIRE SHOWED DEFECTS TO THE TREAD BELT. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT SIMILAR VEHICLES AT THE LOCAL FCA DEALER SHOWED THE SAME FLAW WITH THE TIRES. THE TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED. TEAM ONE CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF GADSDEN (LOCATED AT 1149 1ST AVE, GADSDEN, AL 35901, (256) 543-9583) WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. AC IS NOT WORKING AND THE GPS/RADIO BLINKING ON AND OFF WITH A ERROR MESSAGE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 RAM 1500. AFTER THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED FOR A WHILE, IT WAS UNABLE TO RESTART. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, BUT IT INDEPENDENTLY SWITCHED BACK FROM DRIVE INTO PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO LITHIA CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE OF TWIN FALLS (1310 POLE LINE RD E, TWIN FALLS, ID 83301, (208) 293-8571) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE OR PROVIDE A PROGNOSIS FOR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110. THE VIN WAS INVALID.
COLD AIR BLOWING FROM WINSHEILD DEFROST VENTS AND SIDE WINDOW DEFROST VENTS WHEN AC IS SET TO FACE VENTS ONLY. THIS DEFECT IS CAUSING CONDENSATION TO FORM ON WINDOWS WHICH REDUCE VISIBILITY AND CREATES AN ADDED DISTRACTION. I HAVE HAD OPEN CASES WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND FIAT CHRYSTELR BUT NO RESOLUTION HAS BEEN REACHED. THE ONLY ADVICE OFFERED WAS TO TURN UP THE TEMPERATURES ON THE AC SETTINGS AND THAT IS NOT AN OPTION IN SOUTH FLORIDA. FCA CLAIMS THAT THE VEHICLE IS "RUNNING AS EXPECTED" SIMPOLY BEASIUE ALL LIKE MODELS OF THE RAM 1500'S ALL EXHIBIT THE SAME FAULTY DESIGN AND ALL ALLOW AIR TO BLOW FROM THE DEFROST VENTS WHEN THAT MODE IS NOT SELECTED. I DON'T THINK THAT COMPARING ONE DEFECTIVE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEFECTIVE VEHICLE IS VERY GOOD TO MEASURE OF DETERMINING IF SOMETHING IS RUNNING AS EXPECTED. I HAVE CREATED A FORUM OF THIS SUBJECT AND HAVE A SIGNIFICANT FOLLOWING OF MANY INDIVIDUALS ACROSS THE COUNTRY EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUES AND THERE HAVE BEEN NO SOLUTIONS OFFERED BY ANY OF THEM EITHER FROM FCA OR THEIR RESPECTIVE DEALERSHIPS. UNFORTUNATELY, IT MAY ONLY BE A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THIS DEFECT RESULTS IN THE SEVERE INJURY OR DEATH OF AN INDIVIDUAL OR INDIVIDUALS AND MAYBE THEN IT WILL BE WORTH FCA'S TIME TO INVEST IN A SOLUTION. THIS NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED AND IT NEEDS TO BE DONE EXPEDITIOUSLY.
DOESN'T MATTER IF TRUCK IS MOVING OR STATIONARY, THE DEFROST WILL CLEAR THE PASSENGER SIDE. I HAVE NOT HAD THIS TRUCK DURING THE WINTER, BUT THIS WOULD BE GREATLY PROBLEMATIC AND DANGEROUS IF OCCURRED DURING THE WINTER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2019 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE DRIVER WAS DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, ANOTHER VEHICLE CUT IN FRONT IMMEDIATELY AS THE LANES WERE MERGING. AS A RESULT, THE DRIVER DEPRESSED ON THE THE BRAKE PEDAL AND SWERVED TO THE LEFT DIRECTION CRASHING INTO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE WHO CUT IN FRONT AND INTO A CURB. AFTER THE CRASH, THE VEHICLE ENGULFED IN FLAMES INSTANTLY. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED BUT IT WAS UNKNOWN IF A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A BURN INJURY ON HIS ARM BUT DID NOT SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND DEEMED DESTROYED. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE INSURANCE COMPANY WAS CONDUCTING AN INVESTIGATION TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. WHEN TURNING TO THE RIGHT AT LOW SPEEDS (< 45MPH) THE VEHICLE'S LEFT FRONT WHEEL MAKES A GRINDING NOISE SIMILAR TO WHEN ABS KICKS IN. THE VEHICLE RESISTS THE TURN AND HAS RESULTED IN NEAR LOSS OF CONTROL MULTIPLE TIMES. DEALER CANNOT FIX THE ISSUE AND HAS BEEN INFORMED BY RAM THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH NO FIX. THIS ISSUE STARTED SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE AND HAS CONTINUED TO WORSEN OVER TIME. FROM RESEARCH PERFORMED IT IS CLEAR THAT THIS IS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE WITH NO RESOLUTION AVAILABLE AND NO ACTION HAS BEEN TAKEN BY THE MANUFACTURER RESULTING IN A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE FOR THOSE OWNING THIS VEHICLE.
DRIVING IN CITY TRAFFIC 45MPH AND LOST POWER WITH ENGINE RUNNING AND RACED UP BUT TRUCK WOULDN'T MOVE. I COASTED INTO CENTER LANE AND PUT MY EMERGENCY FLASHERS ON, WAITED FOR RPMS TO GO DOWN ABOUT A MINUTE THEN TRIED TO ACCELERATE INTO A LANE AND THE TRUCKED RACED UP BUT BARELY MOVED. I COASTED INTO TURNING LANE AND INTO PARKING LOT, SHUT OFF VEHICLE AND WAITED 5 MINUTES AND RESTARTED AND TRUCK WAS DRIVING NORMALLY THE NEXT 5 MILES TO MY HOUSE.
ENGINE WAS STARTED ON THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS PUT INTO GEAR WITH THE BRAKE PRESSED FIRMLY DOWN. THE VEHICLE STARTED MOVING EVEN WHILE BRAKE WAS PRESSED VERY FIRMLY IN. BRAKE PEDAL WAS ENGAGED AS FAR AS IT COULD BE, BUT THE TRUCK CONTINUED TO PICK UP SPEED UNTIL IT COLLIDED INTO ANOTHER PARKED VEHICLE. THE BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING AT ALL. IT CAUSED A CRASH WHICH CAUSED DAMAGE TO BOTH VEHICLES, MINE BEING A BENT UP BUMPER ON A 2 WEEK OLD TRUCK.
I HAD JUST FINISHED PUMPING GAS AND TURNED ON MY TRUCK AND SHIFTED FROM PARK TO DRIVE. WHEN I DID THIS, NOTHING HAPPENED. I THOUGHT MAYBE I DIDN'T TURN THE TRUCK ON SO I PRESSED THE PUSH START BUTTON AND TURNED OFF. TURNED IT ON AGAIN AND SHIFTED FROM P TO D AND STILL NOTHING. STILL IN D I VERY LIGHTLY PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL AND THE TRUCK JOLTED FORWARD. THIS HAPPENED TO ME ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. I'M NOT A MECHANIC BUT FROM WHAT I HAVE READ, OTHER PEOPLE WITH SAME TRUCK HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND IT SEEMS TO BE THE ELECTRONIC GEARBOX. I HAVE ALSO HEARD A NOISE EVERY TIME I PRESS THE BRAKE THAT COMES FROM THE ELECTRONIC GEARBOX AND ALSO A NOISE THAT COMES FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL ITSELF THAT SOUNDS LIKE SPARKS. MY TRUCK HAS UNDER 400 MILES AS I WRITE THIS ON 07/04/2019. HAVE HAD IT LESS THAN 10 DAYS.
THE TRUCK WILL INCREASE AND DECREASE ENGINE RPM'S FROM IDLING AT 6000 TO 14000 AT LOW SPEEDS WTH A/C ENGAGED. THIS HAPPENS IN ALLDRIVING CONDITIONS. THIS MAKES PARKING AND DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC MOST CHALLENGING.
ON A BRAND NEW 2019 DODGE RAM 1500 WITH LESS THAN 200 MILES ON IT, WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO DRIVE, WITH THE TRUCK STATIONARY, THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT ENGAGE RIGHT AWAY, BUT SUDDENLY ENGAGES AT 1,000 OR HIGHER RPM AND RAPIDLY LUNGES FORWARD. THIS IS AN ELECTRONIC SHIFT TRANSMISSION SO IT APPEARS THAT DESPITE THE VEHICLE SHIFT INDICATORS BOTH SHOWING THE TRUCK IS IN "DRIVE" AND READY TO MOVE FORWARD, IT IS NOT ACTUALLY SAFELY READY TO MOVE FORWARD. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SINCE THE SUDDEN LUNGING OF THE TRUCK MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AND COULD EASILY CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH IN ANY CROWDED AREA, SUCH AS A PARKING LOT OR URBAN STREET.
STANDARD HALOGEN LIGHTING NOT ADEQUATE AND IS A SAFETY CONCERN. HAVE REACHED OUT TO RAM CORPORATE FOR CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE AND HAVE BEEN DENIED.
STEERING KEEPS INTERMITTENTLY STICKING WHEN TURNING LEFT
Complete dashboard and guidance screen went black. Shut vehicle off restarted came back on. Happened again week later came back on by self. Happens on once in a while. Dealer changed radio still happens. Vibration in drive line dealer said it was road force on my tires said I need to replace my tires. I replaced all tires still have Vibration.
AFTER AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT ON MY 2019 RAM 1500 THE ENGINE DID NOT SHUT OFF AUTOMATICALLY. THE TRUCK ACCELERATED AFTER THE DEPLOYMENT DESPITE STANDING ON THE BRAKES. END RESULT WAS TRUCK IMPACTED GUARD RAIL AFTER THE COLLISION WITH THE OTHER VEHICLE MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE IT SHUT DOWN.

WHILE DRIVING SOUTHBOUND AT 50 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE WEST BOUND AND HEADING EAST CROSSED IN FRONT, CAUSING THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO THE REAR DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE TO HIS IMMEDIATE RIGHT. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FORWARD VEHICLE COLLISON WAS ON BUT FAILED TO ACTIVATE. THE CONTACT DID NOT SUSTAINED INJURIES. THE CONTACT MENTION THE OTHER DRIVER DID NOT SUSTAINED INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVABLE AND WAS DRIVEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC COLLISION CENTER FOR THE REPAIR OF THE COSMETIC DAMAGE AND AFTER THE REPAIR, IT TAKEN TO CHRIS MYERS DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP DEALER (27163 US-98, DAPHNE, AL 36526, (251) 621-8885) FOR AN ALIGNMENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TECHNICIAN COMPLETED TWO ALIGNMENTS ON THE VEHICLE BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED CORRECTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER: UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,900. *DT*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ABOUT A YEAR AGO, THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHERE HE T-BONED ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT WAS TURNING IN FRONT. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE SPUN THREE TIMES BUT THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES SUSTAINED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE INSURANCE AGENCY COMPANY TOWED THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO REPAIRED THE COSMETIC DAMAGES. THE CONTACT THEN TURNED ON THE VEHICLE AND ALL WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD FAILED TO ILLUMINATE AS THE DASHBOARD BECOMES DARK TO THE POINT WHERE THE CONTACT CAN'T SEE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE REAR WINDOWS WORKED HOWEVER, THE DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE WINDOWS FAILED TO OPERATE CORRECTLY AND THE 4 WAY FLASHER WARNING LIGHT THAT ILLUMINATES ON THE VEHICLE OR WORKS PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (TRI-STAR MOTORS 2 SUPERIOR WAY, UNIONTOWN, PA 15401) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND HAD SOMEONE INSPECT THE VEHICLE BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE APPROXIMATELY 150.
WHEN THE CAR IS RUNNING AND PUT INTO REVERSE THE BACKUP CAMERA RANDOMLY QUITS WORKING. GET A BLUE SCREEN. HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE I BOUGHT IT IN JANUARY 2019. DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THAT THEY HAVE NOT HEARD OF IT. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP YESTERDAY AND OF COURSE CAMERA WAS WORKING FINE. TODAY IT HASN'T WORKED ALL DAY. THE
WHEN TURNING ON THE DEFROST IN THE MORNING THE DRIVER SIDE WINDSHIELD BECOMES COMPLETELY OBSTRUCTED BY FOG WHILE THE PASSENGER SIDE IS CLEAR. TYPICALLY TAKES 15 MINUTES BEFORE THE WINDSHIELD WILL CLEAR. THIS IS OCCURRING IN FLORIDA DURING THE MORNINGS. IT HAS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY.
DRIVING AT 70MPH THE TRUCK WITHOUT WARNING WENT TO IDLE WITH CLICKING SOUND TOWED TO DEALER SAID NOTHING WRONG IT WAS BAD FUEL NOT TRUE FUEL WAS FRESH. TALKED TO CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE TOLD NOT AWARE OF PROBLEM. I KNOW THIS IS NOT TRUE TALKED TO OTHER RAM OWNERS HAD SAME PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS WHEN IT HAPPENS YOU SHUT THE TRUCK OFF AND RESTART IT, IT ACTS NORMAL. THERE IS SOME BUG IN THEIR SYSTEM THAT IS CAUSING THIS SHUT DOWN NO ONE CAN FIND IT I HAVE HEARD THEY HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH SOME OF THEIR VEHICLES. BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED THESE VEHICLE SHOULD BE TAKEN OFF THE ROAD UNTIL THE BUG IS FOUND. I NEARLY GOT MYSELF AND OTHERS KILLED ON THE FREEWAY. I HAVE TALKED TO THE DEALER AND CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM EXISTS THEY WILL BLAME FUEL OR ANYTHING. MY TRUCK IS A 2019 AT THE TIME OF THE SHUTDOWN THERE WAS 600 MILES ON THE TRUCK. FOR NOW THE TRUCK IS SITTING UNTIL I GET SOME ANSWERS. I KNOW THERE ARE OTHERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND NEED HELP OR THE PROPER REPAIR MADE WE THE PUBLIC SHOULD NOT BE THE TEST DRIVERS RISKING OUR LIVES FOR FCA.
VEHICLE WAS PRUCHASED FROM WALDORF DODGE (06/12/20190 WITH TWO (2) OPEN RECALLS, V07 & V71. AS THE CUSTOMER, I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE RECALLS ON MY OWN (INCLUDING ONE THAT HAD BEEN KNOWN OF SINCE FEB 2019) AND HAD TO CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP (WHO IGNORED THE WARNING ABOUT THE RECALLS DURING THE SALE AND FAILED TO TELL ME, THE CUSTOMER) TO FIX THIS ISSUE.
WHILE STEERING LEFT AND RIGHT, THE POWER STEERING SEEMS TO INTERMITTENTLY GO OUT, IT HAPPENS OFF AND ON, AND YOU HAVE TO HOLD ON TIGHTLY TO THE STEERING WHEEL OR YOU WILL LOOSE CONTROL, I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY TELL ME IT IS NORMAL FOR THIS TRUCK WHICH I STRONGLY DISAGREED WITH THEM, A NEW TRUCK OR ANY NEW CAR DOES NOT JUST LOOSE STEERING
WIPER MOTOR FAILURE AT 13K MILES, PARTS ON BACKORDER VEHICLE IN MOTION, ON HIGHWAY
I HAVE MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO GET THIS VEHICLE REPAIRED AFTER RECEIVING THIS RECALL NOTIFICATION. V61/NHTSA 19V-407AT THIS INCOMPETENT DEALERSHIP CROWLEY CHRYSLER JEEP IN BRISTOL CT. I CALLED THE RECALL NOTIFICATION HOTLINE ON 26 SEPTEMBER 2019 AND MADE THE APPOINTMENT FOR 30 OCT 2019 ONLY TO HAVE AN INCOMPETENCE AND UNPROFESSIONAL PERSON CALL ME ON 29 OCTOBER 2029 AT THE END OF THE BUSINESS DAY SAYING THAT THEY WERE CANCELING MY APPOINTMENT. I AM SO F'ING PISSED ABOUT THIS CRAP AND REALLY AT THE POINT OF CONTACTING DAIMLER CHRYSLER TO FILE A LAWSUIT AND HAVE THEM TAKE BACK THE TRUCK. MY REGRETS ARE MANY AT THIS POINT I JUST WANT ANSWERS AND TO BE TREATED WITH SOME MEASURECOF RESPECT. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN SITTING IN THE DRIVE WAY BEACSUE I DONT KNOW THE LEVEL OR HOW HOW UNSAFE IT MAY BE TO DRIVE. NO ONE HAS TOLD ME ANYTHING ABOUT THE [XXX] RECALL.. I HAVE RETAINED AN ATTORNEY IN THE EVENT THIS ISSUE IS NOT RESOVED BEFORE DECEMBER 2019. Notorious exhaust manifold & mounting bolts failure affecting ALL Ram pickup trucks with the HEMI engine. Exhaust manifold bolts are breaking and/or becoming loose causing a major combustion leak, exhaust manifold damage & posing a great fire hazard. Manufacturer is well aware of the problem at hand & has grossly neglected to issue a safety recall to mitigate the hazardous conditions, risking the lives of unsuspecting occupants. I first addressed this issue with the selling dealership service advisor upon an oil change of a newly purchased vehicle & was told the noise I was hearing was a perfectly normal “HEMI Tick”. Gross Negligence to say the least!!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS MOVED SLOWLY WHILE DRIVING IN A STORM. THE CONTACT COULD NOT SEE THE ROAD DUE TO THE WATER ON THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT HAD TO WAIT FOR THE STORM TO PASS AS THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS CONTINUED TO MOVE SLOWLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 424.

THEN 5 DAYS LATER I WAS I WAS TOLD PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER WITHOUT GIVING ME A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE. DURING NORMAL DRIVING OF VEHICLE WHEN COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, RELEASING THE BRAKE WITHOUT APPLYING ANY GAS WILL PRODUCE A "BUMP" OR A SLIGHT "JERKING" FORWARD. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY TIME BUT HAS BEEN HAPPING SINCE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN MANY TIMES TO REMEDY THE SITUATION THAT INCLUDED, UPDATING OF SOFTWARE AS WELL AS THE REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION WHICH STILL HAS HAD NO EFFECT. THERE ARE NUMEROUS CUSTOMERS THAT HAVE DOCUMENTED THIS VERY ISSUE WITH THE RAM PRODUCT THAT INCLUDE MANY YEARS/MODELS HOWEVER IT SEEMS THAT THIS VERY ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED NOR DOES IT SEEM LIKE IT WILL BE RESOLVED ANY TIME SOON. THERE IS A HORRIBLE ROARING SOUND WHEN YOU GET UP TO AROUND 50-70 MILES PER HOUR AND SLOW DOWN OR SPEED UP. IT WILL BE CONSTANT AT TIMES AND COME AND GO AT TIMES. TALKED TO THE SERVICE MAN AT THE COMPANY SAID THERE WERE CONSTANT COMPLAINTS ON THIS HE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT IT WAS BUT WOULDN'T SAY TO ME. Based on the inspections and investigation arranged by the insurance group (attended by the vehicle and braking system manufacturers), a “seized caliper” was the cause of a 2019 incident that nearly killed a family traveling from Illinois to Florida. A 2019 DODGE RAM was rented from Enterprise Rent-a-car (Illinois), for the purpose of transporting a family (and their personal belongings) to their new home in Florida. 8 hours into the trip, the truck was traveling 65-70 mph on I-65 South when smoke began emanating from the rear, drivers side tire area. The driver pulled to the side of the road to inspect the issue, and immediately spotted flames near the drivers side, rear tire. The flames were directly beneath the fuel tank, leading the family to abandon the vehicle. 911 was called and the county fire department arrived approximately 20 minutes later. The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames, and was a total loss. Fortunately, no one was (physically) hurt. Kentucky State Police also attended the incident, transporting the family to a local DQ for them to wait for their replacement rental vehicle to be delivered. This incident occurred on May 31, 2019. Disappointing is the best way to describe how Dodge and Bosch have handled this incident. Ilco, the insurance group acting on behalf of Enterprise Rent-a-car, completed a thorough inspection process, which suggested that a seized caliper was the cause of the incident. The family involved were verbally notified on the findings. End of story
ENTERPRISE RENTAL - WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY CITY FREEWAY, THE PICK UP TRUCK LOST ALL IT'S SPEED AS IF TRANSMISSION SWITCHED FROM (DRIVE) TO (NEUTRAL). THIS OCCURRED AT APPROXIMATELY 1,180 MILES (ODOMETER), AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE LEFT LANE (FAST LANE) GOING AROUND 75/80 MPH THE VEHICLE'S RPMS SPED UP TO 5000/6000 WHILE THE SPEEDOMETER SHOW THE VEHICLE SLOWING DOWN AS THE PICK UP TRUCK LOST IT'S SPEED. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS ON AS I ATTEMPTED TO PULL OVER ONTO THE LEFT SHOULDER. I ALSO PROMPTLY REALIZED THAT THE RPMS WERE AS HIGH DUE TO MY FOOT STILL RESTING ON THE ACCELERATOR, I ALSO CHECKED THAT THE PICK UP TRUCK'S GEAR WAS STILL LIT UP AS (DRIVE) - AND I CONFIRMED THAT IT STILL WAS, BUT THE PICK UP TRUCK WAS NOT RESPONDING. AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP THE PICK UP TRUCK WAS PLACED IN (PARK) AND NO WARNING MESSAGES/LIGHTS LIT UP (BEFORE/DURING/AFTER INCIDENT). AS I THE PICK UP TRUK WAS STILL RUNNING IN (PARK) I TURNED OFF THE (A) BUTTON LOCATED BELOW THE GEAR KNOB (AUTOSTOP MODE) JUST IN CASE THAT MIGHT HAVE PROMPTED THIS (HIGHLY UNLIKELY BUT - JUST IN CASE). AFTER INSPECTING ALL GAGUES IN DASHBOARD (ENGINE TEMP/BATTERY/TRANSMISSION OIL TEMP ETC) ALL OK, THE PICK UP TRUCK WAS PLACED IN (DRIVE) GEAR AFTER, THE PICK UP TRUCK RESPONDED TO THE GAS PEDAL'S INPUT (NORMALLY). OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS AROUND 100 DEGREES (F), PRIOR TO INCIDENT PICK UP TRUCK HAD BEEN PARKED FOR 6HRS IN THE SUN; INCIDENT OCCURRED AFTER DRIVING THROUGH A 1- 1 1/2 INCH RAISED CONCRETE BUMP (ON THE FREEWAY, TYPICAL IN TEXAS). PICK UP TRUCK HAD BEEN DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY 1000 MILES IN THE LAST 2 DAYS (HIGHWAY MILES).
VEHICLE OCCASIONALLY STICKS IN PARK WHEN YOU PUT IT IN DRIVE. IT RELEASES WHEN THE RPMS RAISE ENOUGH TO OVERPOWER WHAT IS HANGING. THIS CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO LUNGE FORWARD ONCE WHATEVER IS HANGING IT IS OVERPOWERED BY THE INPUT RPM'S, THE NATURAL RESPONSE WHEN YOU PUT IT IN DRIVE IS TO HIT THE GAS. IF YOU ARE NOT EXPECTING THIS TO HAPPEN, YOU CAN IMAGINE THE POTENTIAL RESULT. AT LEAST ONE PERSON (MANY HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN) HAS CLAIMED THAT IT OCCURRED IN HIS GARAGE WHILE HIS WIFE WAS CROSSING IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE NEARLY PINNING HER BETWEEN THE VEHICLE AND THE GARAGE. PROBLEM HAPPENS UNDER RANDOM CIRCUMSTANCES WITH NO APPARENT PATTERN AND CANNOT BE MADE TO HAPPEN ON COMMAND, IN MANY CASES THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT FIX ANYTHING BECAUSE THEY CANNOT GET THE PROBLEM TO OCCUR IN THEIR PRESENCE. I PERSONALLY VIDEO'D IT HAPPENING AND SHOWED TO TO THE SERVICE MANAGER. THEY HAD THE VEHICLE FOR ONE WEEK AND WERE UNABLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. I PICKED THE VEHICLE UP AND THE PROBLEM OCCURRED 5 MINUTES LATER. I CALLED THE SERVICE MANAGER WHILE IT WAS HAPPENING AND HE CAME TO MY LOCATION AND WITNESSED THE ISSUE FIRST HAND. THEN, WHEN I APPLY A LITTLE PRESSURE TO THE ACCELERATOR, THE ENGINE REVS UP A BIT AND THE TRUCK LURCHES INTO GEAR. SOMETIMES, IT'S HARD TO KNOW WHEN THE SURGE/LURCH IS COMING, HIN I HAVE MAKES THIS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE ENGINE IS RUNNING AND THE TRUCKS SHOWS THAT IT'S IN GEAR, SO IT'S NATURAL TO HIT THE GAS AND GO. THE LAG AND LURCH IS HARD TO DETECT UNTIL THE WHOLE VEHICLE CONVULSES. THIS COULD ABSOLUTELY CAUSE SOMEONE TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND HIT SOMETHING OR SOMEONE. I'VE ALSO READ A SERIES OF COMMENTS ONLINE FROM OTHER OWNERS WHO ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME FAILURE. The contact stated that while coming to stop, the steering wheel shook and then seized momentarily. The contact stated that several unknown warning light s were illuminated. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT STAFF INDICATED "INSPECTED UNDER CARRIAGE AND FOUND A RUPTURED AIRBAG ON RIGHT REAR, NO PHYSICAL DAMAGE REPLACED RIGHT REAR AIRBAG ON SUSPENSION AND FILLED WITH NITROGEN. TEST DROVE TO VERIFY REPAIR". THE SECOND TIME THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT STAFF INDICATED "SCANNED VEHICLE FOUND DTC C152-2A/C1562 INCORRECT OPERATION OF PUMP, RIGHT REAR SPRING IS BROKEN, DUE TO HEIGHT SENSOR FAILURE". THIS IS THE THIRD INCIDENT AND THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SINCE APRIL 29, 2019 (9 DAYS) FOR THE THIRD TIME WITH A SUSPENSION PROBLEM AND I HAVE NOT BEEN TOLD WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND WHEN I WILL GET MY TRUCK BACK.

I HAVE A NEW 2019 RAM 1500. ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS (APPROXIMATELY 6), THE TRUCK UNEXPECTEDLY LURCHES AND BEGINS ACCELERATING BY ITSELF, NEVER STOPPING. THIS ACCELERATION TAKES PLACE IN BOTH DRIVE AND REVERSE. THE VEHICLE CAN ONLY BE CONTROLLED WITH HEAVY BREAKING OR FLIPPING THE TRUCK INTO NEUTRAL. IF THE TRUCK IS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, THE ACCELERATION STOPS. HOWEVER, IT REOCCURS SHORTLY THEREAFTER, SOMETIMES IN ONLY A FEW BLOCKS. DURING THIS UNCONTROLLABLE ACCELERATION, THE GAS PEDAL DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. THIS CURRENTLY HAS ONLY OCCURRED DURING SLOW SPEEDS WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN. THE DEALER HAS ATTEMPTED TO FIX THE TRUCK NUMEROUS TIMES, UNSUCCESSFULLY. I CURRENTLY DO NOT DRIVE THE TRUCK ON THE HIGHWAY OUT OF FEAR ON HOW THE TRUCK WILL REACT WHEN THIS PROBLEM OCCURS AT HIGH SPEEDS. THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH STARTED FLASHING AND CONTINUED TO FLASH EVEN WHEN VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF. I DISCONNECTED WIRES FROM BATTERY TERMINAL TO KILL POWER SO THE LIGHTS WOULD STAY OFF. POWER DOORS WOULD LOCK OR UNLOCK
WHEN VEHICLE IS AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND GOING INTO LEFT HAND CORNERS, THE STEERING WHEEL STICKS IF YOU GO PAST THE TEN O CLOCK POSITION. IT HAPPENS ONLY AFTER DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN ON RIGHT TURNS, THE WHEEL COMES BACK, BUT INTERMITTENTLY. ALMOST FEELS LIKE A WOBBLE?
