power steering unavailable pops up on dash while driving. truck steering locks up was able to pull truck off the main highway on the shoulder call a tow truck
2 cracks by the back sliding glass window, water seeps in and get on the head liner and in cabin causing water to get all over.causing damages.
My 2019 Ram 1500 Classic came with the optional 20" tires and rims. Had a flat and when the spare was taken down it was only a 18" not a 20". This spare should match the other wheels and tires to drive safely. Yes Rams can come with 17" or 18" but when you upgrade with the option should the spare be as well. This is a recall on other Rams but not mine, please look into this.
Hello, I was driving on Highway 99 three days ago and my truck came to an abrupt halt after making some horrible engine noises. I hadn’t been driving my truck because it won’t pass smog due to check engine light on. I had taken it to a dealer in Lodi Dodge Dealer and they Did one recall on the fuel injector pump. I’m still not positive. What happened but I strongly believe after Research that the magnetic strip for cam timing failed. I’m trying to find an independent Agency that looks into things like this as I do not trust the dealer for a couple reasons. Not saying it here. Anyway, if you have any idea how I should move forward after that frightening experience losing all power to my truck, the dash turned red, no oil pressure no anything is what it was saying. I was able to get a tow truck to bring the vehicle to my home where it sits now and it’s been two months since I’ve really had a vehicle. I had to make an emergency run to get two bales of hay for my animals. I paid the registration, but I don’t have the tags because it will not pass smog.
Came to a stop on the highway, truck decides to stall. A/C and radio stayed active, but engine stopped. Had to put vehicle in park and press the start button. Luckily it started back up but not something anyone should have to deal with. Standard 5.7 Hemi, no E-torque. At this point, no clue what caused the issue.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact became aware of a failure with the power steering. The contact stated the steering wheel became difficult to turn and the contact also noticed a whistling sound coming from the steering wheel. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
Exhaust manifold bolts broke off on my 2019 Ram 1500. Dealership said it’s a known problem affecting all models.
My steers assist failed so I had it replaced by dealership 6/14/24, Now here it is 8/16/24 truck has to go back to dealership to have it replaced again.
Good morning, My vehicle was brought in based on a check engine light on or about August 6 2024. The vehicle is under full factory extended warranty. It has been in the shop for over two months awaiting parts. I have been told that a defective DPF is the problem, and the truck requires over $4600 in repairs. They claim none of this is covered by the "Bumper to bumper" warranty. I explained that the system never worked properly, that the truck only went into "Regeneration" one time. That is was serviced consistently by the dealership and is in perfect condition. So far, no replacement vehicle has been offered or provided. There was a summary judgement on these trucks and the sale was delayed pending correction of emissions problems. * I believe those problems were never addressed and this failure is widespread in the 2019 EcoDiesel RAM 1500. Further RAM has failed to maintain an adequate supply of spare parts to remedy a common failure in the vehicles. I was told there are currently 18 claims before mine. It merits consideration from NTSB that this judgment against RAM should be extended to 2019 vehicles, although they claimed to have: Fixed. them". I have written RAM, emailed the dealership, called customer service on numerous occasions and copies of letters are available on request.
The issues started with the sunroof not closing. And the uconnect touch screen inoperable ( it went black and no options available ) It seemed to be a fluke and resolved itself. But within a few weeks the icons for the driver and passenger seat heaters were no longer on the screen. Now that the season has changed and temps have dropped, the drivers side heater will automatically come on when the truck is started and it’s below a certain degree outside. It gets crazy hot and will only shut off when the truck is turned off. This was followed by the icons for the radio options resorting themselves and the one for USB disappearing as well. The usb connection still works, but it has to automatically switch over when plugged in, it cannot be manually selected. Lastly the ParkAssist seems to have a mind of its own. Sometimes it will function as intended. Other times when I start the truck it flashes a warning that the park assist is unavailable and the lights on the switches are on showing it’s been disengaged. When pushed they will flash and then turn solid again. Other times it will happen while I’m driving. There will be a ding and the unavailable warning will flash on the screen. When the icons first disappeared I called mopar/uconnect customer service. They tried to walk me through some diagnostics but none of it worked. They suggested maybe getting a software update. But couldn’t tell me if that would fix it or not. When I asked if it didn’t they just said I’d have to replace the whole uconnect system.
On Friday August 2nd. 2024 approximately 11am I was driving my 2019 ram 1500 laramie. At about 28 mph my truck lost power steering. Message in my dashboard says Power steering unavailable. The steering was very hard, harder when the engine is not running. I pulled over and waited 10mns and restarted the truck and everything went well. And I drove off it happened again within 10mns or 5mi. Same thing pulled over waited 5mns and restarted the truck and the message is gone and truck drove like normal. It happened 3 times within 15mi of driving. Take it to the dealership and they confirm my steering wheel rack electric module has failed and quoted my $3500 for repair.
The transfer case warps unproportionary on one side without any type of driver error or reason. There isn't a correct seal which causes water and damage which ultimately damages the cv axel as well . Was checked out by garage and plan on taking to dealer. Temporary fix but needs replaced completely after only 90000 miles.
To whom it may concern, I am making a safety complaint on a component that failed while operating the vehicle. My vehicle is a 2019 Ram 1500 Bighorn DT. The component that failed and almost cost me to crash my truck while in reverse and parking is called The Park Sense and The Rear Parking Assist . I started to have this problem back in the Summer around August 2024. I have brought the vehicle in to my dealer ( CHRYSLER, JEEP, DODGE OF PARAMUS N. J.) several times already, the first time they replaced the Park Sense Sensor Module and reset the computer. No sooner then I got home from the dealership and was reversing in my driveway the error messages came on and the truck did not sense the garage door and continued to back up thankfully I was able to brake hard and stop 6 inches from the door. Not only did the Park Sense warning come on but also The Rear Brake Assist did not stop the vehicle like it has in the past. I brought the vehicle back to the same dealership and they worked on it for about 6 hours gave it back to me and said they rerouted the wiring harness for the park sense module and it was working fine. As I get into my truck to leave the error messages came on the dashboard so I walked inside and showed the service manager and the tech that just finished working on my truck. They said to bring it back, they had no regards for my safety or the safety of others letting me leave the dealership with the truck acting up cause from time to time the brakes would suddenly come on causing the vehicle to stop abruptly. Nevertheless I strongly believe that there is a safety issue with the truck's Park sense sensor and Rear Brake Assist too. I do not know what to do can someone please help me? Thank you.
Was driving 40mph when my power steering failed, came up with a warning message: “Power Steering Unavailable Service Required,” then the engine shut off WHILE STILL DRIVING. I had two of my kids with me in the truck. Fortunately I was able to coast through a green light and muscle the powerless truck into a parking lot. Waited for about 15 min and the truck started back up with no check engine lights. The risk of crash or injury is huge - I’m extremely thankful this didn’t happen on a highway or while towing my travel trailer. My truck is useless until the dealer takes a look. My fear is that the dealer won’t be able to replicate the fault when I have the truck towed in. This is the second of two times this has happened in 2 days. The first was in the driveway with the exact same symptoms.
UNKNOWN. Has an investigation been opened into the delamination of the Leather dashbords, in the RAM LIMITED 1500. Concerned how the disfigured dash surface will impede the function of passenger Air Bag deployment. A review of U Tube. Will have pictures / videos.
The truck with provide warnings "front/rear sensors temporarily disabled" and "service shifter" before starting to shift itself back and forth between 1st and 3rd gear. When it does this it will often stay in whatever gear it is in when accelerating and not shift with no regard for speed.
The contact owns a 2019 RAM 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V653000(Service Brakes, Hydraulic, Electronic Stability Control); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated while driving at various speeds and depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal made an abnormal sound. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. An independent mechanic diagnosed the vehicle at the residence. The mechanic determined that the vehicle failed to start because it did not recognize that the brake pedal was being depressed. The mechanic related the failure to the recall. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed with alternator, tension belt, torque sensor, and CV axle shaft failure. The contact was informed that the alternator, tension belt, torque sensor, and CV axle shaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 82,032.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at slow speeds in the driveway, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power but continued running. The contact became aware that the vehicle was unable to shift into gear, prompting the contact to turn off the vehicle. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the rack and pinion that had created an electrical short. The vehicle was repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V812000 (Steering), but the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was 125,000.
My windshield wiper speed slowed down then stopped in the middle of my windshield and stop working completely when it was raining. I had to pull over and wait for the rain to stop so I wouldn't cause an accident. I know there is a recall on the ram 2500 and 3500 hundred. I was wondering if the recall expanded to 1500 built around the same time?
I was driving and the truck shut off causing me to stop in the middle of an intersection. I had to steer the the truck with no power steering. If I was going faster I would have crashed. This is what the Dealership found. CONFIRMED NO START CONDITION. SCANNED VEHICLE AND FOUND DTC P0340-CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT - BANK 1 SENSOR 1. VERIFIED GETTING FUEL AND SPARK. PERFORMED COMPRESSION TEST. 0 PSI. HAS FAST CRANK. REMOVED PASSENGER VALVE COVER AND CRANKED ENGINE. NO MOVEMENT. REMOVED TIMING COVER TO INSPECT. FOUND TIMING CHAIN SNAPPED. TENSIONER IN PIECES. CHAIN GUIDES DESTROYED. ENGINE OVERROTATED. BENT VALVES. DAMAGED CYLINDER HEADS. CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. RECOMMENDING REPLACEMENT OF LONG BLOCK
My power steering went out when driving on the highway. I had it towed to the dealership and was told the power steering rack fried and it would be almost $5 to fix. Taxes LINE C CONCERN: Power steering warning pops up on dash at startup and I have no power steering. The light goes away after a minute or two and the steering comes back. The truck sat for five days and this issue started on my first startup after (6/19/24). The battery hasnt been changed or jumped POTENTIAL CAUSE: Confirmed customer concern. Found DTC U0131 -00 - Lost Communication With Power Steering Control Module "A" and the EPS module is completely unresponsive. Removed connectors to the power steering rack and found that the main power and ground has been hot and has melted the connector and is full of corrosion. The power steering rack has internally shorted causing these issues. The steering rack needs replaced and the connector is not serviceable and the harness must be replaced.
Cruising at highway speeds while turning left the steering wheel sticks and does not go back to center. The driver has to turn it right an inch or two before releasing and goes back towards center.
Air bag light need service
The instrument cluster is having intermittent issues where it does not work and when it is not working it does not display essential vehicle information.
1 The vehicle’s dashboard upper trim panel (leather covering and stitching) has failed. The leather is lifting and separating from the dashboard surface, and the stitching is coming undone. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. 2. The lifting and peeling leather creates a safety concern. The leather separation is present at all times and continues to lift from the dashboard. The condition becomes significantly worse during hot and humid weather, as the material expands further. This can obstruct the driver’s forward or peripheral vision, including blind spots, reducing the ability to clearly see passengers, other vehicles, or road hazards. Additionally, if the material continues to detach, loose sections could interfere with steering wheel components or dashboard controls, creating a distraction or potentially affecting safe vehicle operation. 3. Yes, the issue has been inspected and confirmed by a dealer. The dealer acknowledged the dashboard leather separation and stitching failure. Similar issues have also been reported in other vehicles of the same make and model. 4. The issue has been inspected and confirmed by an authorized dealer. It has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives. The manufacturer has not directly inspected the vehicle at this time. 5. There were no warning lamps or dashboard messages prior to this issue. The first symptom was visible lifting of the leather and loosening of the stitching on the dashboard. The condition has progressively worsened over time and becomes more pronounced during hot and humid weather, although the separation is present regardless of weather conditions.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact became aware that there was water leaking from the driver’s side rear window. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed; however, the dealer inspected the vehicle and confirmed that there was a water leak coming from the driver’s side rear window. The dealer suggested that a Glass repair facility be contacted for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 43,458.
Truck takes itself out of gear and goes into Neutral stalling the engine while driving you have to place it in park and restart. Normally happened at slower speeds, turning in an intersection/ slowing to enter a parking lot, accelerating onto ramp. Took it in and couldn't find an issue.said could be a door sensor maybe?
Recall 44A I contacted Promaster Case Management Case # [XXX] Their reply was that I go to Wilson Motors 425 N W Buchanan Corvallis, OR 97330, a 5 hour, 14 minute round trip, of 246 miles. I live in a population of approximately 26,000+ people. This is wholly unacceptable when there are 5 dealerships who sell Ram vehicles (2 much closer) closer to my location. A major auto manufacturer should not be selling vehicle for which they don't provide reasonable service for in a populated area such as the ORegon coast. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact became aware of a failure with the power steering. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the steering wheel seized and would not function properly while attempting to make a turn. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 33,000.
Vehicle developed the infamous "hemi tick" chronicled in multiple news articles, bulletins & complaints. Defective exhaust manifold design causes it to trap heat, melting the bolts and cracking the manifolds. This leads to loud ticking when engine is started from cold and can eventually lead to engine failure. Had to have both manifolds replaced, along with gaskets.
Service antilock brake system on, told by dodge dealership that the problem is the abs module needs replace. Tech at dealership stated this is a known problem by chrysler but no recall has been issued. Due to this problem the part is on back order. And unable to be fixed at this time. Tech also stated that replacing this part. In the future could have the same problem again.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, he became aware that the instrument panel was not functioning as needed and failed to display pertinent vehicle information. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V556000 (Electrical System) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.
The Instrument cluster in my 2019 dodge ram 1500 Bighorn edition has been dark for about a month no longer see any information as to tire pressure or warnings or alerts to the computer system because it is completely dark. I have seen multiple complaints on this site and I would like to know how to proceed, I can’t continue to drive this way
Hemi 5.7L ticking. Took the truck to another mechanic to assess and the engine is filled with metal shavings from a failed assembly at 50k miles. A power train assembly should get at minimum 100k miles before any issues would arrive. A STAR report has been generated on this very issue. However, we purchased this vehicle used with 91 miles on the odometer as it was listed as the previous owner being the manufacturer itself and was used and moved around from showroom to showroom as a floor model. We have no warranty and now must replace the entire engine due to the metal shavings found throughout the engine. Cost to replace is 10k+ which is horrifying an engine must be replaced at 50K miles due to a known product design flaw causing so many of us to experience the same exact issue around 50k miles. Fiat only replaces those under warranty with the same flawed/defective part only to have the same issue reappear...that to me means the part design is flawed. Both of our mechanics said this is a known defect that many of their customers have experienced. Our check engine light came on prior to a scheduled visit to our mechanic on July 8 as we were hearing a ticking noise. Magically, the morning of the 8th when I first went start the truck to take to our mechanic regarding the light the light was not on any longer. We still attended the appointment to check out the tick. He recommended engine replacement. When I left the mechanics and got 5 miles down the road the check engine light came back on. Since then we took to another mechanic who dismantled the engine somewhat to check the lifter assembly and sure enough there it was, completely disintegrated, hanging on by a thread left of an actual bolt, metal shavings in the oil pan too. He indicated to us that when that small thread left from the bolt finally failed the engine would seize up and we would lose power immediately. Extremely dangerous at highway speeds or driving up and down the mountainous areas.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel intermittently became firm, and excessive force was needed to steer the vehicle. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The local dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V812000 (STEERING). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
RF Module lost connection to CAN Bus and caused the vehicle to shutoff while driving. Symptoms include messages about key fob not within range and TPMS not able to communicate with sensors. RF Module was replaced however the issue returned. Other symptoms include parasitic draw caused by RF Module that in turn causes the system to report low voltage while driving. Vehicle has left me stranded on more than one occasion due to RF Module failures. These situations where preceded by no starts and shifter errors. Most of these issues can temporarily be resolved by disconnecting the main battery for extended periods. Dealer or service center has not reproduced the issue. Dealership inspected the RF module during installion of a new RF module after a water leak. The issue first appeared after the dealership repaired the "backlite" window, which was leaking on to the RF module. I suspect this might be related to system updates installed during the window installation service call. All of this started in early 2024.
The speedometer gauge cluster of my 2019 Ram 1500 truck stopped working after the truck sat in 90°F weather. The truck is always stored in the garage, but when I went to work between 8 AM and 5 PM, the gauge cluster stopped working.
Quick hard accel (less than 5 seconds), followed by emergency braking, caused the brakes to not respond for more than one second. Brakes would not emergency brake, only had minor stopping force. This occurs on the first time, so brake fade is ruled out. Starting the vehicle, than rapidly putting into gear D or R, while brakes are applied causes vehicle to lurch forward or backward depending on the gear chosen. Movement of over a full truck length is possible. I suspect it's a problem with the logic in the electronic braking. I can reproduce it whenever I'd like, but no accidents have occurred yet.
Loss of power steering.
Water leak from inside back window
The alternator bearing is failing. Stellantis no longer has a supplier to order new alternators from. There is no option to replace this part. The vehicle is 5 years old. I feel this is a safety concern because if and when I eventually lose all electrical power, my passengers and me will be in an uncontrollable vehicle or, best case, a broke down vehicle on the side of the road.
Front portion of panoramic sunroof exploded suddenly while traveling at highway speed.
The dash instrument cluster on my 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie had issues intermittently working and not working. Now the display is completely blank. Important vehicle information is not available due to this issue. This issue seems far too common after reading complaints online. This is a safety issue and should be a recall for Ram trucks.
Driving the vehicle and out of no where the power steer failed and the steering wheel locked up. Had 3 young children in the car with me and was blocking traffic due to being unable to drive the vehicle. The dealer inspected the vehicle and said it would need a new power steering rack and that he has never heard of this problem before when it’s all over the internet. The part is not available and it will be a minimum of 30 days with no estimated date. Vehicle has only 62,500 miles and has never been involved in any crash. This issue put my children at risk with no indication it would happen.
Loss of power steering.
I was about to make a left turn and the power steering stopped working in mid turn. Luckily there were no cars in the path of travel or behind me because it was so sudden. And I didn’t have full control of my truck.
Upon acceleration from stop, and even while driving at speeds between 30 & 40 mph, the vehicle shifts from Drive to Neutral and displays "Shift to P..." on the display. This occurs repeatedly. You have to stop the vehicle and shift to Park then back to Drive. But it keeps occurring, over and over. It first occurred when I pulled out into traffic, the vehicle shifted to N and I had absolutely NO EXCELLERATION with oncoming traffic behind me. I immediately put on my hazard lights and steered towards the curb to attempt to get out of the way... traffic behind me was able to slow and avoid collision but this is an extremely dangerous issue.
The 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 experienced a similar malfunction as is stated in Recall B2A, which is for 2023 Ram Pickup Trucks. This instance also deals with the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) and the SCCM does not meet the "requirement for original equipment" as per Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard #108. When it malfunctions, the left turn signal flashes when the turn signal is in the left turn position and the neutral position. No signals turn on when in the right turn position. The SCCM was diagnosed with an "Internal Failure" by Mopar technicians at the local dealership including the vehicle flashing test code B2225. The new SCCM took about a month to come in and in that time, sometimes the turn signals functioned normally, which resulted in false confidence as it would again malfunction while driving. This issue is particularly dangerous because sometimes it works as it should and sometimes not. You can account for a completely broken SCCM with arm signals, but when it malfunctions at intermittent times, it results in an unsafe driving environment that you cannot plan for. In getting my vehicle repaired with a new SCCM, I requested for them to save the original SCCM that came with my vehicle at the time of purchase for an organization to further diagnose the problem if desired.
Driving my [XXX] old son to daycare [XXX] and my power steering quit working. this is very dangerous and I fear for our lives. I have read online that many other people have had this problem and there should be a RECALL!!!! INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
