The engine dies while slowing down or immediately following a stop and start, dies in the middle of an intersection or just going down the road. It has died at a railroad crossing. This could be a deadly situation if it happened in heavy traffic since the driver can't get out of the way. It sets the emergency brake. It has to be at a complete stop before we can press the brake, manually unlock the park brake, then start the truck It's been back to the dealership numerous times. They tell me they don't doubt my word, but they can't come up with a solution. They told us it needed an electronic update. They came to pick up the truck this morning4/17/23 to do a scan for more updates. This is very serious!
Both RAM and dealership, after multple attempts, continue to give the same excuse that they don't have parts available. I have asked for a forecast of when this will become available and they have indicated they cannot at this time.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V263000 (Fuel System, Diesel) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The drive train in my truck has multiple issues that have been going on since I bought the truck last December. The rear end has a clunk when making a yield type turn or when applying gas after coasting. This clunk is heard and felt from the driver seat. There is a delay when shifting into reverse from park which gives a clunk when it shifts into gear. The truck is jerky at slow speeds (25mph and below) or when coming to a stop. The throttle has a delay when starting off. You will push the gas to go and the transmission is not ready. It will finally decide to go and give you a strong jerk. Sometimes when coming to a stop there will be a clunk which feels as if you got hit from behind. The engine will shut off before the truck comes to a complete stop during a auto start/stop sequence. I have had the truck in for service twice and both times I was told that nothing is wrong.
I have had two engine related issues during my year and half ownership of this truck. The first episode was when I was coming to a stop at a red light from highway speeds. The engine started shaking as if it was going to die. I was able to drive off and it was fine for the rest of the drive. The second time the engine actually shut off while making a left turn in a four-way intersection. Luckily there was no cars around because it died in the middle of the turn. It started back up, but it was a long start.
The engine of my vehicle shut down while I was driving. There was not any warning. The emergency brake turned on. The battery light icon turned on. I driving around 25 mph. I was able to pull to the side of the road and restart my vehicle. I was in the middle of the road with traffic in front of me and behind me. I could have been rear ended. I will be taking the vehicle to the dealership.

The local dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the Forward Collision Avoidance sensor failed to function as designed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer, Byers Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram (465 S Hamilton Rd, Columbus, OH 43213) and the dealer was unable to retrieve a fault code. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.
From day one when entering a roadway it would start to move putting me into traffic then just refuse to go leaving stranded for about ten seconds then move again, the whole time it would shudder and shake by engine and the transmission and it was like the system were all fighting for control. Next when entering a freeway I pulled on to the on ramp and immediately got up to 50mph and started to merge and it bogged down like it lost fuel and again I was almost hit by traffic but they avoided me. There are numerous problems with the infotainment system to the point of distraction, most of these problems are transient but on going, they fixed some of them with software updates but then a new crop will pop up. I have not been able to trust the truck since I’ve owned it so I have had to cancel all the plans I made when I bought it. I think two years is long enough to wait to use what I paid for.
Defogger makes windshield unable to see out of have to pull over when driving because the window gets completly fogged
Brought vehicle into chevy dealership for interior detail because it wasn't available at nearest dodge and went to go pick it up and the truck would not turn on. Car towed to Dodge dealership and they stated that there Module H was an issue and they replaced that and still isn't working and they don't know what is wrong. Dodge dealership stated that they don't see any negligence on the vehicle done by chevy dealership. Dodge is going back and forth with support team trying to figure out what is going on. Going on the 4th week of vehicle being in the shop with zero answers. Dodge didn't have a rental vehicle available to me and told me id get reimbursed if I went to get a vehicle and now they are stating they aren't wanting to pay. My vehicle is under full warranty. I have contacted the MN state general attorney and filed a claim.
Have had multiple issues with my radio deleting my preset channels. There has been a couple of times where when I start my vehicle my radio just says loading and I am not able to control any of my climate controls or radio channels. My usb and usb-c plugs quit working for a while. The radio has been replaced and is still having some of the same issues with not loading the screen and also deleting my preset channels.
Navigation not working. I am fear of my life because I use I could died. I been trying Dodge ram an Uconnect to fix this problem for almost a year an tell me the part on order with no time frame to fix it.
Musty smell coming from the Heating/AC since new. Caused a fellow worker to have sneezing fits. Have tried to alleviate the problem myself. Changed cabin air filter, cleaned an already clean cab even more, added disinfectant to vents….to no avail. Smell is still there. Makes me question when this truck was built and how long it sat outside in a field/lot somewhere?
Headlights are frosted up under 20 degrees Fahrenheit. A frost line appears and will not disappear without cleaning. Then it reappears again. I have never experienced this before with any vehicle. Dims the already dim front headlights, not good for safe driving practices.
Defrost does not clear a frozen windshield unless it is above zero and on Max (7) setting. Not enough airflow.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the tailgate unexpectedly opened. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the vehicle was serviced under NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V904000 (Structure) however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, and the dealer sent pictures of the failure to the manufacturer. The manufacturer declined to repair the tailgate. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 8,689.
The truck died periodically before or after a stop in the middle of intersections or just driving along. It has been in for inspection multiple times and one recall on it for some processor. It died a week later. Went in for hybrid control processor update which did not correct the issue. Shop said they were unable to duplicate any abnormal condition, no stored or active codes or pending updates at this time. Don't know when this thing is going to get me hurt or worse. No warning lights or messages prior to the failure.
The back up camera is not working, there is only a blue screen when I put my truck in reverse. The error message says camera system unavailable. Took it to the dealership to get it fixed and they had it for a week and did not give me a loaner I had to pay for a rental car out of pocket I am severely irritated with my local Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram service center they are not catering to me as a customer and it's really ridiculous because we're talking about a safety issue if I can't use my backup camera to hook up my trailer for work.
Both Exhaust Manifolds are cracked and out of warranty. Multiple local ram owners have had the same problem. The large safety concern and is the fumes make its way into the cab with potential CO causing harm to passengers. Replacement Manifolds appear to be on long backorder!!
I was in a ft end accident .the estimate was over $8000.00 and the air bags did not deploy. The body shop said this is normal. my grandson was in a accident was the same year make and model .A front end accident and his airbags didnt deploy.both trucks are in body shops 4 8000.00
With 2280 miles on it driving down the highway gave me warning engine hot pulled over. The engine shredded every belt on the engine. It's a v6 etrorgue. RAM refuses to pay tow bill but yet no explanation of why it happened. Stranded me 90 miles from home. $700.00 tow bill unsafe truck.
My 2022 Ram 5.7 with etorque (25k miles) decided to park itself in the middle of a state Highway. I was coming to a stop at a light and heard some beeping noises from the truck, I looked down and it was trying to put the truck into park while my wheels were still turning. Once I was around 2-3 mph it jammed into park and applied the parking brake. I couldn’t move the knob to drive, and my battery light lit up on the dash. I had to turn the truck off and back on again to get it out of park. The truck almost didn’t seem to want to turn back on and when I put it in drive, the engine started sputtering and the battery light remained on. I gassed it and barely managed to make my turn without stalling into oncoming traffic because the engine kept acting like it was going to die. I stopped in a parking lot for a few minutes, kept the truck running and started back home. While the engine stopped sputtering it still didn’t seem to drive quite right- the truck was surging a little when it shifted and it still had the battery light on. Once I got home (like a mile away) I turned it off and back on a few times with no further issues. Possibly unrelated but I have also been to 3 Ram dealers to try and fix my engine tapping/knocking noise (and sometimes rough idle - maybe lifter related). It’s so loud I can hear knocking from inside my truck and from 15-20 feet away in a parking lot. All three dealers stated it was normal, which (obviously) it is not. I’ve also had issues with electrical burning smells coming from my engine bay, as well as a leaky rear window (probably over the battery pack). Ram needs to acknowledge the safety issues and mechanical failures and fix them immediately before someone gets hurt, or worse. I have read dozens of reports from this site of trucks parking themselves in the middle of the road and so far nothing seems to be done about it. I have footage on my dash-cam, if they would like to reach out and see what exactly happened.
1st Issue: With <5K miles on odometer, engine would not shift out of 1st gear. Check engine light came on. I drove ~5 miles to a safe place and parked. After a few minutes I cranked up and the check engine light was off. Transmission shifted fine. I reported to the service manager at Abernathy Dodge in Lincolnton NC during first scheduled oil change. He shrugged and said "who knows". 2nd Issue: With <10K miles, vehicle would stop suddenly and would not move. I had to pull the park brake lever to release it. Assumed it was a safety system that I was not familiar with. Later, it would lock down and stall and I took the same steeps to release. 3rd Issue: With <39K miles (3k outside of warranty and paid for) the check engine and battery light come on. I took it to Marburger RAM in Shelby NC because it is closer than the dealer where I purchased. They stated it needed a battery module that had to be ordered. I drove it almost home before the engine stalled. Had it towed back to Marburger on 7/13/24. I have called frequently and stopped in on 3 occasions since 7/13/24. Each time they are waiting on some type of battery module. No attempts to reach out and keep me updated. I really like the RAM 1500 truck but, I am sick of electronic gremlins and failure of dealer to address or communicate. I have been extremely fortunate to have avoided a highway accident caused by electronic features beyond the drivers immediate control. Any assistance and manufacturer accountability you can provide is greatly appreciated.
Less than 500 Miles engine code EOBD injection system failure. Engine stalled. 5149 miles EOBD injection system failure - Leaving stop sign, mid intersection, engine shut off truck stopped, parking brake applied automatically. Dealer unable to reproduce issue. Also says no codes show that caused issue. Truck currently at dealer. Dealer told to contact corporate. I opened case with them #[XXX]. Truck is in for the 3rd time without being resolved. No warning when this is going to happen. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
While driving my vehicle at approximately 15-20 mph it unexpectedly and without warning shut down and engaged the emergency brake bringing the vehicle from 20 to 0 immediately. The vehicle the stated ignition was not put in park. I restarted the vehicle and the e brake was engaged.
This is an update on my Ram, 114499224 case. Yesterday Feb 1, 2023 I drove about 6 miles from my house and as I turned left in a mall parking lot my truck engine shut of and when I touched the brake the transmission went abruptly into park and the emergency brake activated. I got the truck started and after a brief stop at the mall I drove back home, and only about a half mile from my home and as I was turning off a main road into my subdivision the truck shut off again and the emergency brake activated and the transmission went into park.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving or while the vehicle was idling, the inner and outer parts of the windshield and windows became foggy, impairing the visibility of the driver. The contact stated that the windshield defroster was engaged but failed to clear the windows and the windshield. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred several times and caused his wife to pull to the side of the road. The contact stated that the inner and outer parts of the windshield and windows was foggy independent of the temperature inside and outside of the vehicle. The contact stated that upon investigating the failure online, he became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V871000 (Visibility) however, the VIN was not included. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer for a diagnostic test. The contact stated that he believed that the dealer could not duplicate the failure as the recall remedy consisted of repurchasing the affected vehicles. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000.
After reviewing all the correct settings to engage alert and braking on the Ram Limited the vehicle under no circumstances will provide an alert or engage braking. In 4 months and 4,000 miles of driving several errant drivers have come within a foot of the truck and several pedestrians have stepped in front of our path. It will not alert to any issues. I opened a case with Stelantis and they have the nerve to say you can call after a wreck and tell us later if it failed. They have no testing allowed and no software to calibrate. Many people on Ram forums even in my home town of San Diego are making this same claim. We have the feature on our older Mercedes and it works very nicely and is something we paid a great deal extra for. Stelantis is hiding behind a known issue and both dealers that have tried to diagnose it were told to send the truck home as is. This feature saves lives it's a priority feature. Just today after leaving the dealer 60 miles from our house a car changed 4 lanes in front and I had to slam on the brakes. No intervention from the truck happened.
My vehicle is equipped with a dial for gear shifting. While stopped at a light I was adjusting the radio. As I took my foot off the brake but before I placed it on the accelerator I was also moving my hand from the radio controls back to the steering wheel. During the transition it brushed across the shifting dial causing the vehicle to shift from drive to reverse. I feel this could have caused an accident had I not realized what I had done and put my foot on the accelerator.
Vehicle has no heat or defrost vehicle has been in the shop for over 30 days this problem began as soon as the car was leased new at the dealership which was at the end of January
Sometimes when i go to come to a stop, my truck stalls, engages the parking brake and shift itself into park. this happens before the truck comes to a complete stop and has happened at least half a dozen times. The check engine light has stayed on after a re-start of the vehicle and when this happens the charging light comes on also. Safety was put at risk because this could very easily cause a collision at an intersection, thanfully it hasnt yet. The truck goes into the dealer on jan. 31st to look at the issue. No warning lamps or warnings are ever present prior to the system failure. The check engine light stayed on the last time this happened which was last night.
My truck is 2 weeks old. I was driving to pick my child up from school, and the sun roof exploded spontaneously spraying glass all over me and causing me to almost wreck the truck. This sounded like a gun shot in my ear and there is glass everywhere. I had to be very careful pulling off the road so I did not get cut or injured.
Vehicle stalled at low speed while in reverse and once the engine stopped running the emergency brake engaged.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 5 MPH, the auto park features independently engaged. The contact stated that the feature would shift the vehicle to park (P), turn the vehicle off, and set the parking brake. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle could be restarted; however, the failure occurred at a traffic signal. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent, but it was a recurring failure. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 12,525.
I started my truck to go to work and 3 warning came on, the abs system, the traction control service, and 4x4 disengaged. This vehicle has 16,100 miles on it. I tried to drive it to the dealership for repair and the rear tires are locked up.
This truck has an intermittent problem that causes it to shut down and leaving me stranded in traffic. This shutdown has happened 8 times. It first happened on Jan-10. This is two weeks after I purchased the truck. Since then, there have been 4 attempts to fix it at dealerships. They were not been able to identifying the causes of these problems or fixing them. The Truck was out of service for 47 days while it was in for repairs. Both of these items exceed the limits of the Missouri Lemon Law. I will briefly review the nature of the problems. These 8 shut down events are not just a stalling problem. When the truck shuts down the yellow engine lights come on and the truck will not try to restart when I press the gas or restart button. In some cases, it automatically engaged the parking brake and I am not able to get the truck switch into park, neutral or reverse. Each time it took between 2 and 20 minutes to restart the truck, while I was stuck in traffic. 3 times I exited the vehicle, walked away, then locked and unlocked it. After that I was able to restart the truck. In 3 of the occurrences the red battery warning light came on. When this happens, I have about 30 min both batteries are drained and everything shuts down. Here is a summary of some of the history of these problems, Summary 1st Occurrence --- 1/10/23 (14 days after I purchased the truck). Occurrences --- 8 (7th was during a test drive at a RAM service center, on 4/25/2023). Times in shop --- 4 (at dealer service centers). Days in shop--- 47 (Out of service). Milage 1st time --- 410 (Odometer at first occurrence) Avr miles to occur --- 454Avr miles (shortest was 30, and two were over 1,000 miles) Avr time to occur --- 17Avr. Days Problem status --- not fixed. (the cause or causes have not been identified or fixed)
The vehicle’s wheel, brake, suspension, and electrical systems have all failed since June 2022. The wheel and suspension systems have been attempted to be repaired multiple times by two different Chrysler Dodge dealerships. To no avail, no resolve. In fact while I was driving the highway after picking up the vehicle this last time, the tailgate opened and triggered the backup camera emergency brakes. We stopped instantly in the middle of the highway. We didn’t hear or know about a recall until three weeks later when we got a letter in the mail. The dealer we purchased the vehicle from did not reach out. All of the problems associated with the truck have been acknowledged by the dealer, second opinion dealership, and Chrysler. The vehicle is a lemon.
My 2022 Ram-1500 V6 Etorque truck has stalled 5 different times. Each time it happened after I had been driving 10 minutes or up to 1hr. Each time I was stopped at an intersection or in stop and go traffic. Twice I was able to restart it in less than 1 min. One time was a few minutes. The other two times it would not restart after several minutes. The Sales person suggested I get out of the truck then lock it and unlock it. After 5 to 15 minutes I was able to restart it. In both cases I had to exit the truck in traffic to lock and unlock it. In all 5 cases I was in traffic when this happened. This problem first occurred a few weeks (480 miles) after I bought the truck. The truck is now into a dealer service shop for a second time for this problem. So far they have not been able to diagnose the problem.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The parking brake was independently activated. The contact stated that the failure occurred while decelerating and coming to a stop at a traffic light. During the failure, the “Parking Assist and Gear Selector” messages were displayed. The vehicle was driven to the local dealer; however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure or detect the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 695.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated while his wife was driving 30 MPH, she heard an abnormal noise and the vehicle then stalled. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the fuel pump and the three fuel injectors to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 21,000.
Driving vehicle at approximately 15 MPH when vehicle accelerated on its own and would not stop by depressing foot brake. Had to put vehicle into neutral and use emergency brake to stop. At the same time several dash warning lights illuminated. Such included but was not limited to, throttle control, trailer tow assist, check engine, brake assist control, etc. The vehicle was parked and unmoved until it was towed to dealership. Upon towing the check engine and throttle control lights remained illuminated. Per dealership, no light is illuminated and no issue with vehicle. Located a number of additional similar issues with Ram’s online with no recall.
when coming to a stop engine stall and the emergency brake is automatically engaged. the battery light stay on after restarting the engine. almost got hit in the rear because of this. It been to the dealership three time. no code show up. 12
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle experienced a loss of power steering assist. The vehicle crashed into trees. No air bags were deployed. There were no injuries. No Police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, it was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000.
I reported the defrost problem previously. Reference # 11498898. The front window on the sides would not clear the ice. I had been driving for 45 minutes. Not much air comes out of the dash on the sides. I have since downloaded a video of my window instead of just a picture.
The front windshield would not defrost. I had viability only in the center. The two sides were iced up and would not clear. There is flow from the center section and little or no flow on the sides.
There seems to be a design flaw in the Rams defrost system. The front defrost vent only produces air in the middle 12" of the 30" vent. With reduced to zero air coming out the outter ends of the vent, the drviers vision becomes extremely impaired in freezing and inclement weather. With the defrost on high, it can not timely remove the frosting or fogging of the window. Due to this design flaw I was in a near miss incident.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the front windshield became foggy. The contact stated that the defroster was not working properly. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V871000 (Visibility). The failure mileage was 6,500.
Purchased the vehicle new, after 10,000 miles driving without any problem I hooked up my truck to my snowmobile trailer to tow it on December 21, 2022 for the first time during the evening hours. I setup my vehicles trailer settings to light duty electric brake settings mode and began pulling my trailer. I just turned left onto the road coming up onto a stop sign going slow the vehicle stalled and the emergency truck brakes turned on and the truck shifted into park. I then placed the truck into Tow mode and got onto the expressway without an issue, when I turned off of the expressway I slowly turned right into a business and the truck stalled, emergency brakes went on and truck went into park. I called La Fontaine dealership whom I purchased the truck from, and they could not inspect it for 1 month. I dropped the truck off to them on Jan 16 and finally was able to pick it back up on the 20th evening. They did not test with a trailer, and I was told that everything was working properly. I opened a case number with Chrysler [XXX] and was told on Jan 25th that they spoke with the dealership and there is nothing more they can do, and if there are any more issues take it to a dealership. I have not pulled this trailer again with my vehicle in fear that it will stall and stop on the road creating an accident. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
While driving the vehicle at low speed two warning lights/messages appeared: “Service electronic stability control, and auto start/stop unavailable/service auto start/stop.” Auto start/stop no longer functions and neither does ESC, which is a safety hazard. Have appointment to have car serviced at dealer.
