The contact stated that while performing routine maintenance on the vehicle, the contact observed that the passenger’s and driver’s side support rails on the sub frame had several sections that were severely rusted. The contact stated that there were gaps of approximately 2-feet on both rails where the metal was rusted through. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact researched online and became aware that the failure was a known issue. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 189,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 RAM 2500. THE CONTACT SMELLED MOLD INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND THE HEADLINER AND STORAGE UNDERNEATH THE BACK SEAT WERE RETAINING WATER. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CAB WAS LEAKING DUE TO A FAULTY SEALING ON THE REAR WINDOW. THE VEHICLE WAS TEMPORARILY REPAIRED AND THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE SEAL ON THE REAR WINDOW NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE DID NOT RECEIVE A PERMANENT REPAIR. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 DODGE RAM 2500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD WAS FRACTURED DOWN THE MIDDLE AND HAD DISINTEGRATED. IN ADDITION, THE FRACTURE OF THE DASHBOARD WAS INTERFERING WITH THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT AND THE UNIT HAD FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE DASHBOARD AND AIR CONDITIONER WIRES WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
