Tires are load range E but max load on tire is only 65psi. Truck requires 80 psi tires. Not sure how they can be load range E and only handle 65 psi. Can not tow anything because sidewall of tire is too flimsy to handle load at highway speeds. Tires also have bad vibration at highway speed even though I have tried balancing them multiple times. tire size is 35x12.5x18
I have a set of 285/60R20 Discoverer AT3 XLT tires that I purchased new for my ‘14 Ram 2500 in December of 2020. On June 7th of this year (2023) I had my tire “cave in” in the middle due to the belts in the tire separating. This defect on the tire caused an extreme wobble and made the vehicle unsafe to drive. The tires in question had 33k miles on them and my local dealer said they would not be warrantied and I was forced to pay $900 to replace both front tires. On August 19, the same defect occurred on one of the 2 remaining tires (tires have 37k miles on them). This defect in the belts/cords again cause the tire to “cave in” and have a death wobble while driving down the road. I own numerous vehicles and have been through several sets of tires on each of them and have never experienced 1) an extreme failure of the tire like this and 2) this high of a failure rate (currently at 50%). These tires are unsafe for the road and need to be recalled!
PATRIOT AT LT 285/60R20 TIRES 15,XXX MILES ON FOUR BRAND NEW TIRES, SUDDEN VIOLENT VIBRATION OCCURRED, STOPPED VEHICLE AND FOUND FRONT LEFT TIRE HAD BULGE IN TREAD AND WAS SEPARATING. TWO DAYS LATER SAME THING AND FOUND RIGHT REAR TIRE IN SAME CONDITION. ALL TIRES HAVE CODE DOT TBF2 FA5C 2318 2014 RAM 2500
THE MANUFACTURE REQUIRES TIRE PRESSURE BE INFLATED TO 80 PSI IN THE REAR TIRES. THIS MAKES TRACTION AND STABILITY VERY HARD TO MANEUVER ON SNOW/ICY COVERED ROADS. TIRE PRESSURE IS UNBALED TO BE LOWERED BECAUSE OF TPS LIGHT ON DASH FLASHING AND BEEPING. I LOST CONTROL SEVERAL TIMES A SLOW SPEEDS, BECAUSE OF THE PRESSURE.
DRIVING DOWN THE I-10 EAST OF JUNCTION I FELT A SLIGHT VIBRATION AND ATTEMPTED TO PULL OVER AND AS I WAS DOING SO THE PASSENGER REAR TIRE BLEW OUT AND BENT IN THE FENDER BED OF MY TRUCK AND BROKE THE STABILIZER BAR FOR THE BED SKIN. THE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE SIDE WALL. THERE WAS NO TREAD LEFT ON THE TIRE, ONLY SIDEWALLS. I REMOVED THE TIRE AND PUT ON THE SPARE TO GET HOME. WENT TO DISCOUNT TIRE THE NEXT DAY AND FOUND OUT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE SAME TIRE BUT DIFFERENT SIZE. THEY REPLACED THE TIRE WITH A NEW ONE AND FILED A CLAIM WITH KUMHO AND SENT THE DEFECTED TIRE TO THEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 RAM 2500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL BEGAN TO SHAKE AND THERE WAS A BURNING ODOR FROM THE DRIVER SIDE. THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE HOOD AREA BEGAN TO SMOKE AND THE CONTROL BEGAN TO BECOME UNSTABLE. THE ABS WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE BRAKES BECAME INOPERABLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE, BUT NO OFFICIAL DIAGNOSTIC WAS GIVEN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 DODGE RAM 2500. WHILE HAVING THE TIRES REPLACED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VALVE STEMS WERE FRACTURED. AS A RESULT, THE VALVE STEMS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT IF THE VALVE STEMS WERE CHANGED, THE FAILURE WOULD STILL RECUR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE TIRES WERE FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR TIRES HAD A REQUIRED PRESSURE OF 80 PSI, AND THE FRONT TIRES REQUIRED A PRESSURE OF 65 PSI DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR HAULING. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT USED FOR HAULING AT ALL TIMES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS NOT USED FOR HAULING, THE OVER INFLATED TIRES BOUNCE, CAUSING THE TIRE MONITORING SYSTEM TO ILLUMINATE. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THAT THE TIRE PRESSURE WAS UNABLE TO BE ALTERED SINCE THAT WAS HOW THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED. THEREFORE, THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO CORRECT THE TIRE PRESSURES. TPMS DOES NOT ALLOW SETTING TIRE PRESSURES TO EITHER THE OEM DOOR STICKER SETTING NOR THE RECOMMENDED TIRE SETTING FROM THE TIRE MANUFACTURER WITHOUT SETTING WARNING LIGHT AND NAG SCREEN ON STARTUP. CONSTANT WARNING LIGHT AND NAG SCREEN CORRECTION WILL LEAD TO DRIVER COMPLACENCY, NEGATING THE PURPOSE OF TPMS ALERTING THE DRIVER TO A POTENTIAL PROBLEM WITH THE TIRES. TPMS REQUIRED OVERINFLATION RESULTS IN POTENTIAL LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL DUE TO LOSS OF TRACTION. THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR WILL NOT GO OFF AND KEEPS BLINKING "LOW TIRE PRESSURE. I HAVE MADE SEVEN ATTEMPTS TO GET THIS RESOLVED. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER I BOUGHT THE TRUCK FROM LAST NIGHT THAT THERE IS NO MORE HE CAN DO. THEY OVER INFLATED THE TIRES TO 80 PSI TO MAKE THE SENSOR GO OFF BUT THE TIRES ARE ONLY RATED FOR 65PSI MAX. THIS OVER INFLATION HAD VOIDED THE TIRE WARRANTY FROM THE TIRE MANUFACTURER. THIS COULD ALSO RESULT IN A TIRE BLOW OUT AND ACCIDENT WHICH COULD CAUSE DEATH TO ME, MY FAMILY OR PASSENGERS. I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO GET THIS PROBLEM RESOLVED BEFORE ANYONE GETS HUT OR KILLED. *TR
TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM & FIRESTONE TRANSFORCE HT 275/70R18 TIRES I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH MY TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM AND TIRES. MY TESTING IS FINDING A TIRE PRESSURE VARIANCE OF UP TO 15 PSI BETWEEN HOT AND COLD PRESSURES. ORIGINALLY MY TRUCK WOULD GIVE ME A TPM WARNING MESSAGE WITH 3 PSI VARIANCE. NOW IT HAS BEEN REPROGRAMMED BY CHRYSLER SO IT REQUIRES A 15 PSI VARIANCE. THIS CONCERNS ME AS SUCH A PRESSURE VARIANCE PLACES MY REAR TIRES AT 94 PSI. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT THESE TIRES WILL BREAK DOWN AND WE WILL SEE A REPEAT OF THE 1980'S FIRESTONE TIRE PROBLEMS. *TR

TIRE OVER INFLATION. PER MANUFACTURER SPECS THE REQUIRE YOU TO RUM 80 PSI IN REAR TIRE ALL OF THE TIME, EVEN WHEN NOT LOADED, OR TPMS COMES ON. THIS HAS LEAD TO WEARING THROUGH TIRES IN LESS THAN 20K OF DRIVING. RAM HAS REFUSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM OR EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE IT IS ONE. ALL TIRE MANUFACTURER CHARTS SAY BY THE UNLOADED WEIGHT OF THE REAR OF THE TRUCK TIRES SHOULD BE AT 45 TO 55 PSI FOR PROPER TIRE WARE.
