The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Ram 3500. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 MPH, the air bag warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the driver's side air bag needed to be replaced. The mechanic informed the contact of NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V947000 (Air Bags). The contact called a dealer and was informed that the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 146,000.
The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Ram 3500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle shut off without warning. The contact stated that the failure occurred after driving over a bump in the roadway. The contact stated that occasionally, while wiggling the ignition key the engine would turn on before shutting off. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who determined that the ignition switch was faulty and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V373000 (Electrical System). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 270,000.
Fobik key ignition vibrates causing switching from (RUN) position to (ACC) position, shutting off the engine and making it almost impossible to steer a 3000kg machine without power steering increasing the risk for accidents.
WIN ignition module has slowly been causing difficult starting problems. Now, over even slight bumps, the sloppiness in the connection between the key and the WIN module allows the key to move and the vehicle to shut off while driving. This is becoming more and more common and is very dangerous. Just on my 10 minute drive home from work today, it occurred 4 times. One time, I had just turned right on a red light (with plenty of space between me and oncoming traffic) and the truck shut off completely. Without the key being in the exact right position, I had difficulty restarting the truck and could have been very dangerous to me and the vehicle coming toward me.
My family and I were traveling down the interstate about 60-65mph in 2 wheel drive when out of nowhere we started hearing a whining/roaring noise that quickly got louder. Seconds later, there was a loud rumbling noise that sounded like something was coming through the floorboard of the truck. Luckily, I was able to steer the truck to the shoulder of the road and get it to stop, but the truck would not go into park. I had to use the park brake to make sure that it wouldn't roll. After the tow truck arrived and safely jacked the truck up, we immediately noticed that it was the transfer case that had exploded. Gears were hanging out in plain site and it caused a bend in my front driveshaft. There were no warning signs and I had just had the transfer case and my transmission serviced and flushed 2 weeks prior. This put my family's and other lives in danger because had there been more traffic on the road at the time this happened, I wouldn't have had time or room to maneuver my truck safely to get it off the road. We could have been rear ended or had broken parts fly off the truck, that would have been out of my control. The truck was towed to the shop where I had the transfer case serviced, but as of now there's a national backorder on transfer cases for this truck. In speaking with the dealer and doing my own research, I've also learned that there has been a recall on the transfer cases of 2016 and newer Ram 3500 trucks. This needs to be looked into asap. Codes pulled from the truck at the auto shop where the truck currently is are c1404, c1405, c140d stating that the transfer case motor puts the system in 4wd by itself while driving without any warning.
My husband, our son, and I were traveling down the highway at about 60-65mph when we started hearing a low winding sound. Seconds later, before my husband could get the truck over to the shoulder of the road, there was a loud banging sound coming from underneath the truck that sounded like something was coming through the floorboard. He was finally able to get the truck pulled to the shoulder of the road but wasn't able to put the truck in the park position. He had to use the park brake to get the truck to completely stop. Once the tow truck safely lifted the truck, you could clearly see gears hanging amd what looked to be remains of the transfer case. The truck was towed to a body shop where several codes were discovered, which all pertained to the truck going into 4wd by itself without any warning and unknowing to the driver. This glitch is what appears to have caused the transfer case to grenade, further causing damage to the drive shaft and smashing the fuel line. We, as owners, had the transfer case serviced and fluids flushed just two weeks prior to this happening After further investigation and conversations with the local Dodge dealer, it appears that this has happened in several situations yet no safety recalls have been issued. There is a national backorder for transfer cases for our particular year which is a red flag. We're now left with an over $8100.00 bill and everyone pointing the finger at each other. This could have ended tragically had there been more traffic on the road when the truck began stalling on the busy interstate.
WHILE DRIVING, THE TRUCK JUST SHUTS OFF. RESULTING IN LOSS OF STEERING, LIGHTS AND POWER BREAKS.
DURING FUELING WITH THE VEHICLE STATIONARY, FUEL WILL SPILL OUT OF SPOUT WHEN TANK IS FULL AS FUEL DISPENSER SHUTS OFF. THIS HAPPENS ANY TIME VEHICLE IS FUELED.
Truck totally destroyed by spontaneous fire, suspected to be related to short in radio or dashboard. Assessment done by fire department and truck paid off by Progressive Insurance but no compensation for contents of truck. Truck in driveway, not running and fire damaged adjacent vehicle at cost of $7000 paid by vehicle owner and USAA insurance.
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH WITH A LOAD IN THE BED OF THE TRUCK AND TOWING A TRAILER, THE VEHICLE ENGINE STOPPED, ELIMINATING POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. AFTE HAVING THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE CP$ HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP HAD DISCINTEGRATED.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000. *BF CONSUMER STATED DUE TO THE EXPLOSION MAY HAVE RESULTED IN SOME HEARING LOSS AND CONTINUOUS NOISE IN THE HEAD OF THE CONSUMER. THE TIPM MALFUNCTIONED AND MADE VEHICLE OPERATE ERRATICALLY WHILE IN MOTION. SMELLED AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE. GOT TO A GARAGE AND WAS TOLD IT WAS PROBABLY THE TIPM.*DT*JB

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO (CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM315 GOODMAN RD E, SOUTHAVEN, MS 38671 (662) 349-3006) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE GEAR ACTUATOR FAILED NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT SUBJECTED TO A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE RAM 3500. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED TO 10 MPH ON ITS OWN. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW CAMSHAFT WAS NEEDED. THE MECHANIC ALSO SUGGESTED THAT THE CONTACT TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER. THE CONTACT CALLED PINE BELT CHRYSLER JEEP NEW JERSEY (88, 1400 OCEAN AVE, LAKEWOOD, NJ 08701, (732) 719-4651), BUT THEY REFUSED TO SERVICE THE VEHICLE FOR FREE BECAUSE IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.

DRIVING ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT 70 MILES PER HOUR. WENT OVER A BRIDGE AND FRONT END STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY. STOPPED AND LOOKED FOR A PROBLEM. COULD NOT SEE ANY ISSUES. THOUGHT IT MAY BE MUD COMING OUT OF WHEELS CAUSING A BALANCE PROBLEM. CONTINUED TRIP. DROVE ABOUT 130 MILES. WENT OVER SMALL BUMPS AND FRONT END STARTED VIOLENTLY SHAKING.HAD TO STOP ON SIDE OF ROAD. CAME HOME AND RESEARCHED PROBLEM. FOUND OTHERS HAVE SAME PROBLEM REFERRED TO AS "DEATH WOBBLE" THIS COULD CAUSE PROBLEMS IF IN HEAVY TRAFFIC OR IF PULLING A TRAILER. THIS TRUCK ONLY HAS 53235 MILES AND IS USED MAINLY FOR ON HIGHWAY USE.

RELEASED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WHEN GETTING READY TO START ROLLING WAS TOWING A TRAILER. HEARD A SNAP AFTER ROLLING A FEW FEET, THE EMERGENCY BRAKE DID NOT DISENGAGE WHEN RELEASED AND THE BACKING PLATE ON THE CALIPER SNAPPED OFF. I BELIEVE THE COLD FREEZING TEMPS TIRED OUTSIDE AFFECTED THE ENGAGEMENT MECHANISM AND PREVENTED IT FROM ACTUALLY RELEASING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE .
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON HIGHWAY,DOING APPROXIMATELY 67 MPH, THE DRIVERS FRONT WHEEL HIT A BUMP IN ROAD AND THE FRONT END STARTED TO SHIMMY AND VIBRATE UNCONTROLLABLY."THE DEATH RATTLE".WHEN THIS HAPPENS, YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE.I BELIEVE THIS WAS THE STEERING ISSUE IN THE 2015 RAM BUY BACK.WHY ARE THESE DEFECTIVE TRUCKS STILL BEING SOLD?
THE IGNITION SWITCH IS LOOSE AND HAVE A HARD TIME STARTING VEHICLE. WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY SOME TIMES THE TRUCK WILL NOT TURN ON POWER. IF YOU MOVE THE KEY THE VEHICLE WILL THEN BE ABLE TO START. ONCE YOU LET THE KEY GO SOME TIMES IT WILL SHUT OFF AGAIN AND SOME TIMES IT WILL STAY RUNNING. IT WILL ONLY STAY RUNNING UNTIL YOU HIT A BUMP, ONCE YOU HIT A BUMP THE VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF. LOOSING ALL POWER, LIGHTS, AND ASSISTED BRAKING. THIS HAPPENS WHILE STATIONARY AND MOVING.

THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AS SMOKE ENTERED THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STEPPED OUT OF THE VEHICLE, LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD, AND THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY BURST INTO FLAMES. THE ORIGIN OF THE FIRE WAS NOT DETERMINED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISED THE FIRE AND STATED THAT THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE MAY HAVE BEEN DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL SHORT ENTERING INTO THE FUEL LINE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FIRE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 280,000. THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT AND, WHILE COASTING OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, THE SUSPENSION BECAME DAMAGED FROM THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE COSMETIC DAMAGES WERE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED AND DIAGNOSED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000.
SIMILAR TO ONLINE REPORTS OF PAST DODGE RAM TRUCK "DEATH WOBBLE," TRUCK WOBBLES AND SHAKES DANGEROUSLY DESPITE NUMEROUS FIXES AND ADJUSTMENTS TO TIRES/ALIGNMENT AND OTHER. TIRE ROD SNAPPED OFF, LUCKILY WHILE NOT ON THE FREEWAY. WE HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED OUT OF OUR DRIVEWAY AND HAD TO STOP MID-TRIP ON OUR WAY TO WYOMING TO PURCHASE NEW TIRES. RAM 3500 2010.
WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ONE EVENING MY TRUCK STARTED MAKING THE MOST AWFUL GRINDING SOUND COMING FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE. THEN MY ABS LIGHT AND SERV 4WD LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH. A FEW SECONDS LATER THE TUCKED BOBBLED AND WEAVED AND I COULD NO LONGER STEER IT. WHEN I GOT OUT TO LOOK AT THE PROBLEM THE WHEEL ITSELF WAS RESTING ON THE HUB ASSEMBLY. PREVIOUS TO THIS I'VE HAD TO REPLACE FRONT END PARTS LIKE CRAZY. NEW BALL JOINTS AND I JOINTS ANNUALLY. BRAKES TWICE A YEAR, AND IT WILL EAT UP TIRES ON THE FRONT. ALSO THE TRUCK WILL NOT STAY ALIGNED. I'VE CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND FIRST THEY WERE VERY HELPFUL, BUT THEN THEY STARTED TO GIVE ME THE RUN AROUND. I'VE HAD TO HAVE THEIR TIE ROD END RECALL FIXED SEVERAL TIMES AS WELL.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THOMAS CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP (67791 MALL RD, ST CLAIRSVILLE, OH 43950, (877) 268-3302) AND THEY UPGRADED AND REPLACED THE STEERING BOX, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE POWER STEERING PUMP TO TROUBLESHOOT THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST. IT WAS REPORTED TO ME BY GRADY AMBULANCE IN ATLANTA GEORGIA THAT THEIR RAM 3500 AMBULANCES, YEARS 2010 THRU 2013, WERE EXPERIENCING COMPLETE LOSS OF STEERING DUE TO THE FRACTURING OF THE DRAG LINK TO PITMAN ARM BALL JOINT DURING LOW SPEED HIGH TURN ANGLE PARKING LOT MANEUVERS. ELEVEN VIN'S WERE SENT TO ME, WHICH RANGED BETWEEN 2010-2013 MODEL YEARS, AND MILEAGE RANGING FROM APPROXIMATELY 80K -140K MILES. IT WAS REPORTED AND VERIFIED THROUGH WARRANTY THAT SOME OF THESE 11 VEHICLES HAD RECALL 13V-529 PERFORMED FOR THE TIE ROD PRIOR TO THE DRAG LINK BALL JOINT FRACTURING, AND SOME OF THE 11 VEHICLES DID NOT HAVE 13V-529 CAMPAIGN PERFORMED PRIOR TO THE DRAG LINK BALL JOINT FRACTURING. THE REPLACEMENT OF THE DRAG LINK "END" WHERE THE BALL JOINT WAS FRACTURING WAS NOT PART OF RECALL CAMPAIGN 13V-529 SO GRADY WAS PURCHASING THE DRAG LINK END SERVICE PARTS FROM LOCAL DEALERSHIPS AND REPLACING AT THEIR OWN EXPENSE. I RECEIVED 3 OF THE DRAG LINK ENDS, SHIPPED FROM ATLANTA TO MY OFFICE AT FCA US LLC IN AUBURN HILLS. I NOTIFIED MY MANAGEMENT OF THIS AND GAVE 2 OF THE 3 DRAG LINK ENDS WITH FRACTURED STUDS TO THE MATERIALS LAB FOR QUICK ANALYSIS. ALL 3 DRAG LINK ENDS AND BALL JOINTS APPEARED VISUALLY TO HAVE EXACTLY EXACTLY THE SAME FAILURE MODE, WHICH AT FIRST GLANCE WAS A FATIGUE FRACTURE (2 PC SEPARATION) THROUGH THE SHANK OF THE BALL STUD. FCA MATERIALSL LAB CONFIRMED FATIGUE WAS ROOT CAUSE. ALL MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS WERE WITHIN SPEC. NO EVIDENCE OF BALL JOINT OVERARTICULATION WAS APPARENT.
AT 17000 MILES THE OXYGEN SENSOR WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND DOES NOT APPEAR TO HINDER OR EFFECT THE PERFORMANCE OR HANDLING OF THE TRUCK. I ASKED THE PARTS DEPARTMENT IF THEY HAD REPLACEMENT PARTS AND HOW MUCH THEY COST. THE INFORMED ME THEY COST $150.00 BUT DID NOT HAVE ANY AND HAD NO IDEA WHEN THEY WOULD HAVE STOCK. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR ENVIRONMENTAL REASONS.
2 MONTHS AFTER THE FACTORY WARRANTY EXPIRED, THE DIESEL FUEL PUMP STARTED TO LEAK DIESEL ALL OVER THE GROUND. I NOTICED THE LEAK ON THE ROAD OR THE DRIVEWAY, WHERE I PARKED THE TRUCK. AFTER ABOUT A WEEK I TOOK IT TO A GARAGE. THE TRUCK WAS STILL ABLE TO BE DRIVEN BECAUSE IT HAD NOT COMPLETELY BLOWN THE SEAL YET. HOWEVER, FUEL WAS LEAKING OUT OF IT CAUSING A SERIOUS ENVIRONMENTAL AND FIRE HAZARD. THIS IS HAPPENING SO FREQUENTLY IN THESE TRUCKS THAT THE PART, THAT COST $5800.00, IS ON SERIOUS BACK ORDER WITH DODGE. IT IS SO FAR BACK ORDERED THAT I HAD TO HAVE THIS PART REPLACED WITH AN AFTERMARKET PUMP. I CALLED DODGE AND ALSO EMAILED THEM TWICE, BUT THEY STONEWALLED ME AND REFUSED TO HELP OR GET ME ANYONE HIGHER THAN THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS (NOT EVEN A MANAGER) TO DISCUSS HAVING THEM COVER THIS EXPENSIVE PART THAT SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE FOR A LOT OF DODGE OWNERS. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL WITH DODGE SINCE IT LEAKS DIESEL AND IS A HAZARD.

WHICH I BOUGHT A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE BECAUSE THE REPRESENTATIVE THAT I SPOKE WITH ON 10/1/2015 STATED THAT I SHOULD NOT DRIVE MY VEHICLE MY DODGE RAM IF I AM CONCERNED WITH MY PERSONNEL SAFETY, IS NOW IS PRESENTING ISSUES WITH ME REGARDING THE RECALL PROCESS AS WELL AS WITH THE 2 VEHICLES I PURCHASED ON 10/4/2015. I LOST THE USE OF THE ADDITIONAL INCENTIVE THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE OFFERED. THIS IS TO REPAIR A FUEL COMPONENT THAT COULD FAIL AND CAUSE A FIRE IN THE VEHICLE. BOTH OF THESE ITEMS PRESENT SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES TO THE OPERATORS AND PASSENGERS OF THE VEHICLE. RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE ON DECEMBER 1, 2014 STATING THAT THE DIESEL FUEL HEATER ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR MAY OVERHEAT AND CAUSE A FUEL LEAK. THE DIESEL FUEL HEATER HOUSING AT THE FUEL HEATER ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR MAY OVERHEAT, LEADING TO THE FAILURE OF THE O-RINGS THAT SEAL THE MALE ELECTRICAL TERMINALS IN THE DIESEL FUEL FILTER/HEATER ASSEMBLY. A LEAKING DIESEL FUEL FILTER/HEATER COULD CAUSE UNDERHOOD SMOKE AND/OR AN ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE. AS OF TODAY, FEBRUARY 21, 2015 THERE IS NO REMEDY AVAILABLE PER THE NHTSA WEBSITE AND THE LOCAL DODGE DEALER HAS CONFIRMED AS SUCH. SINCE THERE IS NO REMEDY AVAILABLE, THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WANTS TO CHARGE ME TO INSPECT IT FOR THE PROBLEM. I DON'T FEEL THAT I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE A RECALLED VEHICLE INSPECTED FOR THE RECALL NOR SHOULD I HAVE TO WAIT THREE MONTHS OR MORE FOR A SOLUTION FROM THE MANUFACTURER. ALSO, I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT 82 DAYS AFTER THE DATE ON THE RECALL NOTICE THERE IS NO REMEDY. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED TO WORK, NOT SIT IN THE YARD.
