DURING FUELING WITH THE VEHICLE STATIONARY, FUEL WILL SPILL OUT OF SPOUT WHEN TANK IS FULL AS FUEL DISPENSER SHUTS OFF. THIS HAPPENS ANY TIME VEHICLE IS FUELED.
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH WITH A LOAD IN THE BED OF THE TRUCK AND TOWING A TRAILER, THE VEHICLE ENGINE STOPPED, ELIMINATING POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. AFTE HAVING THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE CP$ HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP HAD DISCINTEGRATED.
2 MONTHS AFTER THE FACTORY WARRANTY EXPIRED, THE DIESEL FUEL PUMP STARTED TO LEAK DIESEL ALL OVER THE GROUND. I NOTICED THE LEAK ON THE ROAD OR THE DRIVEWAY, WHERE I PARKED THE TRUCK. AFTER ABOUT A WEEK I TOOK IT TO A GARAGE. THE TRUCK WAS STILL ABLE TO BE DRIVEN BECAUSE IT HAD NOT COMPLETELY BLOWN THE SEAL YET. HOWEVER, FUEL WAS LEAKING OUT OF IT CAUSING A SERIOUS ENVIRONMENTAL AND FIRE HAZARD. THIS IS HAPPENING SO FREQUENTLY IN THESE TRUCKS THAT THE PART, THAT COST $5800.00, IS ON SERIOUS BACK ORDER WITH DODGE. IT IS SO FAR BACK ORDERED THAT I HAD TO HAVE THIS PART REPLACED WITH AN AFTERMARKET PUMP. I CALLED DODGE AND ALSO EMAILED THEM TWICE, BUT THEY STONEWALLED ME AND REFUSED TO HELP OR GET ME ANYONE HIGHER THAN THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS (NOT EVEN A MANAGER) TO DISCUSS HAVING THEM COVER THIS EXPENSIVE PART THAT SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE FOR A LOT OF DODGE OWNERS. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL WITH DODGE SINCE IT LEAKS DIESEL AND IS A HAZARD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE RAM 3500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, FUEL FUMES WERE EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL SENSOR WAS LEAKING. AS A RESULT, THE FUEL PRESSURE RAIL ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE REPLACED IN ORDER TO REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE WARRANTY WAS REVOKEDE WHEN THE CONTACT INSTALLED AN AFTERMARKET FUEL FILTER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,800 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 34,866.
I HAVE A 2010 DODGE RAM 3500 (SINGLE REAR) 6 MONTHS OLD WITH (4000) MILES. I WAS TOWING MY CAMPER (8000LBS) AND THE ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING - I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT I PURCHASED BAD DIESEL FUEL (KEROSENE IN FUEL) AND IT CAUSED THE INJECTOR TO HYDRO-LOCK AND FLOOD A CYLINDER AND THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, AND IT WILL COST ME ($1000+) TO FIX THIS VEHICLE. THE ANALYSIS THEY CONDUCTED ON THE FUEL WAS VISUAL, AND THIS WAS THERE FINAL DETERMINATION. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER CORPORATE AND I WAS TOLD THEY COULD ONLY GO BY WHAT THE TECH SAYS AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR ME. I CALLED OTHER DEALERSHIPS TO ASK IF THEY HAVE HAD A RUN ON DIESEL VEHICLES WITH BAD FUEL AND NOT ONE OF THEM SAID THEY HAD A PROBLEM. I BELIEVE I HAVE A BAD INJECTOR AND CHRYSLER WILL NOT ANALYZE THEM TO GUARANTEE I WILL NOT HAVE FUTURE PROBLEMS. I TURNED THIS OVER TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND THEY ARE FORCING THE DEALERSHIP TO DO FURTHER EVALUATIONS. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT ANOTHER CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY ARE GOING TO HAVE THE FUEL ANALYZED AND DETERMINE WHAT ACTUALLY CAUSED THE FAILURE. I WILL FINALIZE THIS COMPLAINT WHEN I GET THE FINAL REPORTS ON WHAT EXACTLY CAUSED THIS FAILURE... *TR
I HAVE THE 6.7 CUMMINS DIESEL ENGINE. WHILE STOPPED AND WITH THE AIR CONDITIONING ON AND WHILE THE TRUCK IS PERFORMING THE REGENERATION PROCESS RAW FUEL AND EXHAUST FUMES ENTER THE CAB OF THE TRUCK FORCING ME TO ROLL MY WINDOWS DOWN. THIS HAS CAUSED ME TO GET LIGHTHEADED IF I DON'T ROLL MY WINDOW DOWN IN TIME. THIS HAPPENS ABOUT ONCE EVERY TWO WEEKS TO ME(EACH TIME THE ABOVE CONDITIONS ARE MET). PUTTING THE AIR CONDITIONING ON RECIRCULATE WILL HELP. HOWEVER RECIRCULATE WILL NOT WORK FOR THE HEATER OR WINDOW DEFROSTER WHICH FURTHER IMPAIRS MY ABILITY TO DRIVE. I SPOKE TO THE DEALER AND THEY CALLED DODGE. DODGE SAID THAT THIS IS NORMAL. THIS IS NOT NORMAL AND IS A SERIOUS HEALTH AND SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
