THE VEHICLE TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE FAILED WHILE IN A PUBLIC STREET, AND WAS ONLY ABLE TO MOVE IN REVERSE (IT COULD NOT BE PLACED IN PARK). DURING AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CHANGE ON THE SATURN AURA THE SHIFT CABLE BROKE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BE STUCK IN THE EXISTING GEAR (REVERSE), UNABLE TO BE PLACED IN PARK OR CHANGED FROM REVERSE TO FORWARD. THIS HAS THE IDENTICAL RESULTS AS RECALL "NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V224000" AND "NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V460000". THE VEHICLE IN QUESTION HAD THE RECALL WORK FOR 12V460000 COMPLETED PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT, AND AFTER CONTACTING GM WAS STATED TO NOT BE AFFECTED BY 14V224000. IT IS MY CONCERN THAT ALL SATURN AURA'S SHIFT CABLES ARE FAULTY AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR
THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACED. THE AUTO WAS TAKEN TO "WRENCH ON WHEELS" ON 04/21/2014 AND POWER STEERING WAS INSTALLED AT MY COST OF 389.97. I HAVE A BILL FOR THIS AMOUNT THAT I CAN SUPPLY. *TR
THE BRAKE LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE WITHOUT BRAKE PEDAL BEING PRESSED. THIS HAPPENED ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. PROBLEMS WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGEMENT. PROBLEMS WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL SENSOR COMING ON WITHOUT CAUSE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 SATURN AURA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH AT NIGHT TIME, THE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED WITHOUT THE BRAKE PEDAL BEING DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THE STEERING WHEEL OF MY CAR WILL MOVE BY ITSELF. IT WILL SHAKE AND TURN WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. WHILE THE CAR ITSELF DOESN'T JERK WHEN IT DOES IT, IT'S EXTREMELY FRIGHTENING. IT WILL HAPPEN AT ANY SPEED AND HAPPENS AT RANDOM TIMES. *TR
THE CAR WOULD NOT GO FORWARD OR BACK UP ONCE YOU HAVE STOPPED AND TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE BRAKES. THE TRANSMISSION FAILED WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THE WARNING LIGHT NEVER CAME ON; IT HAD NEVER STALLED OR JERKED. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS MAKE AND MODEL CAR, THIS IS A COMMON FLAW. ANOTHER OWNER LEFT THE CAMPAIGN NUMBER 12V460000 ON THE INTERNET. I DON'T KNOW THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THIS NUMBER. I DO KNOW THAT MANY OWNERS ARE HAVE THE SAME ISSUES WITH THIS CAR AT 100,000 MILES OR 6 YEARS AFTER OWNERSHIP. THIS IS A $4,000.00 REPAIR. MOST ALL CONCERNED HAVE TWO YEARS OF CAR PAYMENTS LEFT OWING ON THEIR CARS. GM HAS SELECTIVELY CHOSEN SEVERAL INDIVIDUAL OWNERS AND REPAIRED THEIR TRANSMISSIONS. *TR
BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ALWAYS ON AND MY CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING. THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE A FAIRLY LARGE SAFETY CONCERN AND I'VE READ ARTICLES ONLINE THAT LEAD ME TO BELIEVE I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE DEALING WITH THIS PROBLEM. READ SOMETHING ABOUT FAULTY WIRING CAUSING PROBLEMS WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL AND BRAKE LIGHT... *TR
VEHICLE IS INVOLVED IN GM SAFETY RECALL #13036. THE VEHICLE STARTED, INTERMITTENTLY, DISPLAYING TRACTION CONTROL AND ECS TELL-TAIL LIGHTS AND NOT DISPLAYING BRAKE LIGHTS WHEN BRAKES APPLIED. APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH AGO, THE WARNING LIGHT INDICATORS INCREASED. FOR THE LAST TWO WEEKS, THE LIGHTS FLASH OFF AND ON CONTINUALLY AND CONSISTENTLY EVERY SINGLE DAY. IN ADDITION, THE TRACTION CONTROL OFF AND ECS OFF TELL-TAIL LIGHTS DISPLAY CONSISTENTLY, AS WELL. THE LIGHTS ARE SO CONSISTENT, I CAN ONLY CHECK MY MILEAGE WHEN I TURN OFF THE ENGINE. I AM NEVER SURE IF MY BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ILLUMINATING WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES. THE SOUND/NOTIFICATION INFORMING DRIVER WHEN ANY WARNING IS DISPLAYED, "DOOR AJAR, SEAT BELTS NOT FASTENED, TRUNK OPEN, ETC.," AND SOUND FROM THE ON STAR AND FRONT STEREO SPEAKERS IS AT A LEVEL SO LOW A PERSON WITH EXCELLENT HEARING CAN BARELY HERE IT. IT IS A BARLEY AUDIBLE "SCRATCHY" NOISE. I AM SELF-EMPLOYED AND USE MY CAR A GREAT DEAL. I AM VERY SCARED TO DRIVE MY CAR AND HAVE LIMITED MY DRIVING ALMOST ENTIRELY WHICH HAS SERIOUSLY AFFECTED MY BUSINESS. I WORKED VERY HARD TO BECOME A SUCCESSFUL SMALL BUSINESS OWNER, WHICH, AS A RESULT OF THIS RECALL, IS QUICKLY DECLINING. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO ED BOZARTH CHEVROLET AND WAS TOLD IT COULD BE MONTHS AND MONTHS BEFORE THE PARTS BECAME AVAILABLE.TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. ARE THERE ANY OTHER ALTERNATIVES YOU MAY BE ABLE TO OFFER ME? POSSIBLY A LOANER VEHICLE? I DO APPRECIATE THE FACT GM STEPPED UP AND RE-CALLED THE AFFECTED VEHICLES. DUE TO THE FACT I RECEIVED A NOTICE INDICATING MY VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN GM RECALL 13036 AND MY CAR IS EXPERIENCING ALL OF THE PROBLEMS AS OUTLINED IN THE RECALL, I TOOK VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DEALER WHO INFORMED ME MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE AFFECTED VEHICLES, ACCORDING TO THE LETTER TO YOU FROM MS. NANCY LEWIS OF GENERAL MOTORS DATED MAY 28, 2014, 2008 SATURN VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM 04/24/2007 THROUGH 06/27/2008 ARE AFFECTED BY THIS RECALL. MY SATURN WAS MANUFACTURED IN "08/07." DUE TO THE FACT THE VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING EVERY PROBLEM ASSOCIATED WITH THE RECALL AND IT FALLS WITHIN THE MANUFACTURE DATE, PLEASE OUTLINE, WITH SPECIFIC INFORMATION, WHY IT NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. ON 9/2/2014 I TOOK CAR TO ED BOZARTH CHEVROLET TO HAVE SERVICE ON RECALL 13036. MY CAR WAS RETURNED WITH NO CHANGE IN THE PROBLEM; "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, TRACTION CONTROL OFF, SERVICE ECS & ECS OFF" TELL-TALES LIGHTS WERE STILL ILLUMINATING CONSISTENTLY. THE INVOICE INDICATED THEY FIXED THE FOLLOWING UNDER THE RECALL; 1) A06396 ADH PROMOTER, 2) 13596990 (S) CLIP 3) 13596991 (S) RETAINER 4) 15188763 (S) RETAINER 5) 11509086 (S) STRAP AND "108420 CAMPAIGN 13036 PERFORMED BCM & BPPS HARNESS & CONNECTOR REPAIR." THE INVOICE INDICATED I DECLINED SERVICE ON "SES LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL DIAGNOSIS ALSO SHOCKS, STRUTS, ENGINE LEAK DIAGNOSIS, BROKEN PANEL REPLACEMENT 1064 C." THE BEST PART WAS THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED TO HAVE MY OIL CHANGED, WHICH I PERSONALLY DID 3 DAYS PRIOR TO BRINGING THE CAR IN! THEY SHATTERED THE FUSE COMPARTMENT COVER LOCATED INSIDE THE VEHICLE, TRIED TO GLUE IT BACK WITH A BLUE COLORED GLUE WHICH DID NOT WORK AND THEN INDICATED ON THE INVOICE I DECLINED HAVING THE BROKEN PANEL REPLACED AT A CHARGE OF $86.00. ALL THEY WANTED TO DO WAS SELL ME SERVICE WHICH WAS NOT NEEDED. I ASKED THE SERVICE ADVISER IF A BLOWN OR MISSING FUSE COULD CAUSE THE TELL-TALES LIGHTS TO ILLUMINATE AND HE SAID NO. WHEN I RETURNED HOME YESTERDAY, I LOOKED AT THE FUSE COMPARTMENT AND FOUND ONE BAD FUSE AND ONE MISSING FUSE. AFTER REPLACING THEM, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF FOR THE FIRST TIME IN OVER 3 MONTHS. I DID STILL RECEIVE ONE "TRACTION CONTROL SERVICE AND ONE SERVICE ECS" LIGHT. I AM GOING TO RETURN TO DEALER TODAY TO ATTEMPT TO HAVE THEM REMEDY THE ISSUES. A FOLLOW UP COMPLAINT WILL BE WRITTEN IN AN EFFORT TO ASSIST. THANK YOU. *TR
REGARDING RECALL 13036. PERFORMED AT ED BOZARTH CHEVROLET IN NEVADA ON 9/2/2014. VEHICLE IS CONTINUING TO ILLUMINATE TELL-TALES "SERVICE TRACTION, SERVICE ESC, TRACTION CONTROL OFF & ESC OFF" APPROXIMATELY 96% OF THE TIME WHILE DRIVING. LIGHTS WILL GO OFF BRIEFLY WHEN APPLYING BRAKES BUT COME BACK ON AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. AS SOON AS THE VEHICLE IS STARTED, THE WARNING LIGHTS COME ON WITH AUDIBLE WARNING AS WELL. I RETURNED TO THE DEALER & THEY STATED THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED CORRECTLY. IF IT WAS, WHY ARE THESES LIGHTS STILL COMING ON? PRIOR TO THE RECALL, THE LIGHTS CAME ON, BUT IN A DIFFERENT PATTERN. CURRENTLY, THE LIGHTS GO OFF WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN REVERSE. ANY ASSISTANCE OR ADVICE WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED. *TR
BACK IN JAN 2014 CAR WAS PUT IN PARK AT SHOPPING MALL PARKING LOT ENGINE SHUT OFF EXITED VEHICLE SECURITY SYSTEM ENGAGED WITH REMOTE I WAS HAVING DINNER WHEN POLICE CAME IN TO ASKED WHO OWNED THE SATURN AURA AND THAT MY CAR WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD THIS WAS THE BEGINNING OF THE ISSUES . AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS CONSTANTLY LOCK AND UNLOCK WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE CAR HAS BEEN OFF FOR HOURS . AUTOMATIC START MALFUNCTIONED NOW CAR WILL NOT START AT ALL EVEN WITH USING THE KEY . *TR
WHILE WARMING UP THE CAR THE POWER STEERING WARNING APPEARED ON THE DRIVER DISPLAY. LOSS OF POWER STEERING WAS CONFIRMED WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST REQUIRES REPLACEMENT. I DID DO SOME RESEARCH ON THIS PROBLEM AND FOUND THAT TRANSPORT CANADA HAS FORCED A RECALL BY GM TO REPLACE FAULTY POWER STEERING MODULES IN THAT COUNTRY. WITH MORE RESEARCH I DID DETERMINE THAT THE PART NUMBERS INVOLVED ARE THE SAME IN CANADA AS THE ONES IN THE US. WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM HERE IN THE US WHEN GM HAS RECOGNIZED THE PROBLEM IN CANADA? *TR
NOTICED AS I GOT IN MY CAR, THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT TILTED. MY DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE FRAME SNAPPED AND WOULD COST APPROX. $1,200 TO FIX. THIS IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE AND THE FRAME SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR
I PURCHASED A USED 2008 SATURN AURA, FOR MY SON. THE DRIVER'S SEAT WOULD RUB AGAINST THE CENTER CONSOLE WHEN IT WOULD BE MOVED BACK/FORTH. I HAD A GM DEALER LOOK AT IT, AND THEY SHOWED ME THAT THE FRAME OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT IS CRACKED. THEY HAD SEEN THIS BEFORE ON THE AURA, AS WELL AS OTHER SIMILAR CARS IN THE GM FAMILY (PONTIAC G6, FOR EXAMPLE). THE CONCERN I HAD IS IF THE CR IS IN AN ACCIDENT, THE IMPACT COULD BREAK THE SEAT FROM THE FRAME, THUS BEING DANGEROUS FOR THE DRIVER, AND POSSIBLY THE PASSENGERS. I HAVE SEEN IN VARIOUS ONLINE FORUMS, COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME ISSUE. IN SOME CASES, GM HAS REPLACED THE SEAT--EVEN IF THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. IN SOME CASES, GM DID NOTHING. I SPOKE WITH GM, AND THE BEST THEY HAVE OFFERED ME IS A VOUCHER FOR A FEW THOUSAND DOLLARS TOWARDS A NEW CAR, OR 10% THE INSTALLATION COST OF NEW SEAT. YESTERDAY (03/10/15), MY SON CALLED ME TO TELL ME THAT THE SEAT FRAME BROKE ALL THE WAY THROUGH, AND THE SEAT IS NOW VERY UNSTABLE--AND HE IS NO LONGER ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR. FRANKLY, I WILL NOT LET HIM DRIVE THE CAR NOW THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED, AS IT IS VERY UNSAFE. REPLACING THE SEAT COSTS APPRX. $800--I ONLY SPENT $5,000 ON THE CAR WHEN I BOUGHT IT. WITH ALL OF THE ISSUES GM HAS FACED THIS PAST YEAR WITH RECALLS, I THINK IT IS WORTH LOOKING INTO THIS ISSUE--ESPECIALLY SINCE SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED THE SAME PROBLEM. I DO NOT HAVE THE VIN AVAILABLE RIGHT NOW, AS I AM OUT OF TOWN FOR WORK. I CAN GET YOU THE INFO ON FRIDAY OF THIS WEEK (03/13/15), IF YOU NEED IT FOR REFERENCE. THIS IS AN ISSUE I EXPERIENCE A COUPLE YEARS AGO AND DISCUSSED THIS WITH THE DEALER. IT HAS SINCE RETURNED AND IS GETTING WORSE. REAR BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON WHILE THE CAR IS DRIVING AND IN NEUTRAL ALTHOUGH THE BRAKE PEDAL IS NOT DEPRESSED. CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT FUNCTION ONCE THE BREAK LIGHT TURNS ON. WHEN THE PEDAL IS PRESSED LIGHTLY AND THE BREAKS ENGAGE SLOWLY, THE BREAK LIGHTS WILL TURN OFF. UPON MODERATE TO HEAVY BREAKING THE LIGHTS WILL THEN TURN BACK ON. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE. UPON RELEASING THE BREAKS I WILL HAVE APPROX. 7 SECONDS WHERE I CAN USE THE CRUISE CONTROL AND THE BREAK LIGHTS ARE OFF BEFORE THE LIGHTS TURN ON AGAIN AND DISENGAGES THE CRUISE CONTROL. DURING THAT 7 SECONDS LIGHT BREAKING WILL STILL NOT TURN ON THE BREAK LIGHTS. THIS ISSUE IS INTERMITTENT BUT IS APPEARING MORE REGULARLY. DURING A RECENT 40 MILE TRIP I COULD USE THE CRUISE CONTROL FOR A COUPLE MILES, THEN LOOSE IT FOR A COUPLE MORE WITH THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON, THEN REGAIN NORMAL FUNCTIONALITY FOR A COUPLE MORE, ETC. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY ABOUT 6 AM IT THERE WAS SOME SNOW ON THE GROUND. AS I WAS DRIVING MY TRACTION CONTROL KEEP GOING ON AND OFF. AT THAT TIME I DIDN'T KNOW WHY IT KEEP GOING ON AND OFF. THE ONLY PROBLEM I THOUGHT I HAD WAS FOR MY BRAKE LIGHT TO RANDOMLY COME ON. WHICH I DIDN'T KNOW IT CAUSE ALL OTHER FUNCTIONS TO COMPLETELY GO OUT. I WASN'T GOING BUT 35MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I WAS SPINNING AND IN THE DITCH. I GREW UP DRIVING IN THE SNOW KNOWING TO DRIVE A FRONT WHEEL DRIVE CAR IN THE SNOW IT'S BETTER THAN A REAR. NOT UNTIL THIS WINTER HAVE I HAD A PROBLEM. IN THIS INCIDENT I SPUN COMPLETELY OUT OF CONTROL NOTHING THAT I COULD DO TO TRY AND PREVENT IT. YES I KNOW THE SNOW IS NOT SAFE CONDITIONS TO DRIVE IN. I HAVE CLEAN RECORD NOT ONCE HAVE I BEEN INTO A WRECK NOR HAD PROBLEMS DRIVING IN THE SNOW. I HAD TO HAVE TOW TRUCK GET MY CAR OUT OF THE DITCH AFTER LEAVING IT THERE CAUSE I WAS TOO COLD TO BE IN IT. NOW MY DRIVERS SIDE BACK IS DENTED AND A HUGE CATCH DOWN THE CAR. *TR
I PARKED MY CAR, THEN TURNED THE IGNITION KEY SWITCH TO THE "OFF" POSITION AND PULLED THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. THE KEYS WERE IN MY HAND AND OUT OF THE IGNITION BUT THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING. I INSERTED THE KEY BACK INTO THE IGNITION AND TURNED IT FORWARD (IN THE SAME MANNER AS ONE WOULD TO START THE CAR) AND THEN, TURNED THE KEY BACK TO THE OFF POSITION AND THIS TIME, THE CAR TURNED OFF AS USUAL. A FORMAL COMPLAINT WAS FILED TODAY WITH GM AT: 800-553-6000 AND WAS GIVEN AN SR# BEGINNING IN 71- AND ENDING IN [XXX] . TO DATE, I HAVE NOT RECEIVED NOTIFICATIONS OF A GM RECALL REGARDING FAULTY IGNITION SWITCHES FOR SATURN AURA'S. I FAIL TO BELIEVE I'M THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE. *JS
VEHICLE WAS AT A STOP SIGN AND WHEN IT WAS TIME TO MOVE FORWARD THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND WOULD NOT RESPOND TO INCREASE ACCELERATION. VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE APPROXIMATELY 5 MILE TO BE PARKED AT HOME. WHEN AT HOME, CHECKED TO SEE IF VEHICLE WOULD BACK UP AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS NO REVERSE FUNCTION. *TR
EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH THE ESC, TRANSACTION CONTROL SENSORS, AND POWER LOCKS. WE HAVE HAD THE SENSOR IN THE GAS PEDAL REPLACED WITHOUT SUCCESS. WE ARE EXPERIENCING ISSUES DAILY WITH OUR SPEED CONTROL, LOCKS, AND ESC AND TRACTION SENSORS. CONTACTED GM AND THEY STATED OUR VEHICLE IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST DUE TO IT BEING MANUFACTURED IN NY. WE NEED TO GET THIS RESOLVED ASAP AS WE HAVE A NEWBORN ON THE WAY. *TR

HEIDEBREICHT CHEVROLET (LOCATED AT 64200 VAN DYKE, WASHINGTON, MI 48095, (586) 372-6569) REPLACED THE BRAKE LIGHT BULBS, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
I NOTICED THAT IT WASN'T SHIFTING INTO GEAR LIKE IT NORMALLY DOES. AND THEN IT WOULDN'T GO INTO REVERSE. I TOOK IT TO A SHOP THE NEXT MORNING. I HAD TROUBLE DRIVING IT THERE. THE ENGINE LIGHT HAD COME ON. THEY TOOK IT FOR A TEST DRIVE BUT DIDN'T MAKE IT VERY FAR BECAUSE IT WOULDN'T WORK FOR THEM EITHER. THEY HAD TO PUSH THE CAR. I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN 2009 WHEN IT WAS ONLY A YEAR OLD. THEY TOLD ME THE TRANSMISSION WAS GONE. I TRIED TO DRIVE IT HOME BUT ONLY GOT A FEW MILES WHEN I HAD TO PULL OVER AND HAVE IT TOWED. WHEN YOU HAVE THE CAR IN PARK IT IS NOT ALWAYS IN PARK AND IF YOU TURN THE CAR OFF IT WILL NOT START BACK UP. SO WHEN WE TRY TO START THE CAR AGAIN IT WILL NOT START, SO WE HAVE TO MOVE THE GEAR SHIFT TO NEUTRAL TO START IT THAT WAY. WHEN WE MOVE THE GEAR SHIFT TO PARK IT IS NOT ALWAYS IN PARK. WE THINK THIS MAY HAVE HAPPENED IN THE ABOVE ACCIDENT. THE CAR ROLLS BACK. BEFORE WE BECAME AWARE OF THE PROBLEM THIS HAPPENED TWICE. ONCE WHERE OUR CAR HIT ANOTHER CAR AND ANOTHER TIME WHERE I WAS ABLE TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT BUT THAT WAS JUST BECAUSE NO ONE WAS PARKED DIRECTLY BEHIND ME AND I WAS ABLE TO STOP IT IN TIME BEFORE I HIT THE CARS PARKED SEVERAL FEET AWAY. *TR
I HAVE HAD MY CAR FOR ABOUT 1 YEAR NOW AND I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH IT SINCE I LEFT THE DEALER SHIP. THE CAR HAS BEGUN TO GIVE ME A TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT, ENGINE POWER REDUCED LIGHT, AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD TRYING TO GET TO WORK WHEN I CAME UP TO A HILL. I STARTED GOING UP THE HILL AS USUAL AND THE CAR ALL OF SUDDEN LOST ALL POWER. IT WOULD NOT GO ABOVE 45 MILES PER HOUR AND WAS STRUGGLING TO DO EVEN THAT. IT TOOK ME ABOUT 10 MINUTES TO GET THE HILL WHERE I SHUT MY CAR OFF AND WAITED ABOUT 10 MINUTES. AFTER THE 10 MINUTES I TURNED MY CAR BACK ON AND IT FUNCTIONED AS NORMAL. IF THERE IS A PROBLEM GOING ON IN THE CAR WHY WOULD BE CLEARED AFTER 10 MINUTES OF BEING OFF? THIS CAR NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE DOESN'T SEE THAT THE AURA IN FRONT OF THEM IN BEING FORCED BY THE COMPUTER TO SLOW DOWN. THE BREAK LIGHTS DO NOT COME ON WHEN THIS OCCURS. I HAD TO SHUT MY CAR OFF 3 TIMES JUST TO MAKE IT 5 MILES WHERE I COULD GET IT LOOKED AT. THE POWER STEERING IN MY CAR IS ALSO WHACKED OUT. I WILL BE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND IT WILL START TURNING THE WHEEL BACK AND FORTH. I HAVE SEEN THIS HAPPEN IN OLDER CARS, IT IS USUALLY CAUSED BY A BAD U JOINT. IN THIS PARTICULAR CASE IT IS NOT. AFTER THIS OCCURRED I SLOWED DOWN AND PULLED OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PLACED MY CAR IN PARK. THE STEERING WAS STILL SHAKING BACK AND FORTH RAPIDLY. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO MANY DEALERS AND ASKED IF THEY COULD DETERMINE A CAUSE. ALL OF THEM HAVE SAID THE SAME THING, "I HAVE NEVER SEEN THAT HAPPEN BEFORE". I WISH I WOULD HAVE LOOKED INTO ALL OF THE REVIEWS ABOUT THIS CAR BEFORE I BOUGHT IT. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF INSTANCES OF THIS HAPPEN TO AURA OWNERS AND I THINK IT TIME GM PAYS FOR IT! *TR
IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEM WITH SATURN AURA - KEY WILL SOMETIMES NOT GO IN FULLY, OR WILL NOT REMOVE FROM THE IGNITION WITHOUT CONSTANT PLAYING WITH THE KEY, SHIFT MECHANISM AND/OR IGNITION ITSELF. GIVEN GM'S RECENT RECALL ON MORE THAN 1 MILLION VEHICLES IN THE SATURN, CHEVROLET AND PONTIAC LINEUPS, I FEEL THIS IS A LINGERING ISSUE WITH MY CURRENT VEHICLE. DURING THE WINTER OF 2013 I STARTED NOTICING MY DOORS WEREN'T ALWAYS LOCKING AUTOMATICALLY WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK INTO DRIVE AS THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO. THEN I HAD AN INCIDENT IN WHICH I PARKED MY CAR AT A MALL AND COULDN'T RESTART (BECAUSE IT WAS STUCK IN GEAR) IT BUT AFTER TRYING TO START THE IGNITION AND SWITCHING GEARS I WAS ABLE TO START IT AGAIN AFTER A FEW MINUTES. THESE EVENTS SOON LEAD UP TO MY SHIFTER MALFUNCTIONING AND THE CAR GETTING STUCK IN DRIVE WHILE I WAS TRYING TO PARK IT ON A CITY STREET. I WAS NO LONGER ABLE TO SHIFT GEARS AND ONCE TURNING THE CAR OFF I COULD NOT RESTART IT. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE RECALL INVOLVING THE SHIFTER CABLE TAB HOWEVER, I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED BY GM. IN FACT, WHEN I CONTACTED GM I WAS TOLD THAT MY VIN WAS NOT APART OF THIS RECALL. BOTH THE DEALER AND GM SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT EVEN THOUGH IT WAS A KNOWN FACT THAT THERE WERE A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF CARS THAT HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM. EVENTUALLY THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A "LOOPHOLE" THAT WOULD ALLOW THEM TO REPLACE THE PART FREE OF CHARGE DUE TO THIS RECALL. THE FACT THAT I WASN'T NOTIFIED AND INITIALLY GIVEN A HARD TIME BY GM IS VERY ALARMING. *TR

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. EXITING ROUTE 53 AT LAKE COOK ROAD AT 30 MPH. ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE CAR STARTING SWERVING AND WENT DOWN INTO A DITCH FOR NO KNOWN REASON. THE CAR WAS TOTALED. *TR
IT'S HARD TO DRIVE MY CAR NOW THE BRAKES POWER STEERING AND LIGHT HAS TO BE CHANGED FREQUENTLY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, I DISCOVERED A SLIGHT NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN EACH TIME I TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL. IN ADDITION TO THE NOISE, I FELT A "POPPING" THAT APPEARED TO BE COMING FROM THE BASE OF THE STEERING COLUMN. REGARDLESS OF WHICH WAY I TURNED THE WHEEL, THE SOUNDS WERE THE SAME, AND CONTINUED TO GET LOUDER THE MORE I DROVE. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH MY LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER, TO INVESTIGATE THE ISSUE. AFTER THE INSPECTION, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN WAS FAULTY, AND SHOULD BE REPLACED. REPAIR COST OF $950. WITH ONLY 57,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE, IT WAS WAY TOO SOON TO HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS TYPE OF ISSUE. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, I DISCOVERED THAT THERE HAD BEEN SEVERAL STEERING PROBLEM COMPLAINTS DOCUMENTED REGARDING THE 2008 SATURN AURA. *TR
BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON WHEN PEDDLE IS NOT PRESSED, ALSO THE CUTS THE CRUISE OFF WITHOUT WARNING. *TR
REAR BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ON WHEN VEHICLE WAS DRIVING ALTHOUGH THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS NOT DEPRESSED. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS PRESSED LIGHTLY, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WENT OFF, AND THEN IF MORE PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE BRAKES THEY WOULD COME ON AGAIN. PROBLEM APPEARED TO BE INTERMITTENT BUT WAS OBSERVED REGULARLY. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP AND SERVICE TECHNICIAN PERFORMED TSB FIX, WHICH WAS TO LUBRICATE BCM CONNECTOR WITH DIELECTRIC LUBE AND RELEARN BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SENSOR IN BCM. VEHICLE TESTED OK AFTER REPAIR. ***NOTE*** THIS VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A LOW SPEED REAR END COLLISION IN SEPTEMBER 2012 WHERE THE OTHER DRIVER HIT THE REAR OF THIS CAR AS SEVERAL CARS WERE BRAKING FOR A STOP LIGHT. IT IS VERY POSSIBLE THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR SOME TIME AND THAT THIS PROBLEM CONTRIBUTED TO THE EARLIER ACCIDENT. *TR
I WAS FOLLOWED BY A PASSERBY TO MY WORK PARKING LOT NOTIFYING ME THAT THE FOR THE 8 MILES THEY WERE BEHIND ME ON THE HIGHWAY MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ON. THE NEXT MORNING I NOTICED IT AGAIN, COULD SEE THROUGH MY REAR VIEW MIRROR THAT MY BRAKE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND THE BREAK LIGHT REMAINED ON. I APPLIED MY BRAKE FOOT PEDAL AND THE LIGHT TURNED OFF UNTIL I HAD THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR, AFTER I PULLED MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE THE BRAKE LIGHT WENT BACK ON. I VERIFIED THAT MY PARKING BRAKE WAS NOT ENGAGED. THIS ISSUE IS NOT CONTINUOUS TO THE POINT THAT IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME I DRIVE MY CAR BUT INTERMITTENT. THE TIMES I NOTICE IT ARE IN THE MORNING, MOST LIKELY BECAUSE I CAN SEE THE LIGHT ILLUMINATE AT THAT TIME OF THE DAY. THE TEMPERATURE THOSE MORNINGS WERE AROUND 60 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT WHEN THIS ISSUE IS OCCURRING MY CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT WORK, WHICH MAKES SENSE CONSIDERING MY CAR THINKS I AM APPLYING THE BRAKE. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT SCHEDULED WITH MY DEALERSHIP TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE ISSUE AND HAVE ALSO CALLED GM. FROM THE INVESTIGATION I HAVE DONE ONLINE I SEE THAT YOU WERE INVESTIGATING THIS ISSUE AND I HOPE THAT YOU ARE CONTINUING. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY, THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO OSCILLATE (MOVE) FROM SIDE TO SIDE MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO KEEP THE VEHICLE STRAIGHT. A POWER STEERING MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED ON THE DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER. THE OSCILLATION CONTINUED AT ANY SPEED. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED THERE WAS A INTERMITTENT NOISE THAT CAME FROM THE BASE OF THE STEERING COLUMN WHILE THE STEERING WHEEL CONTINUED TO OSCILLATE FROM SIDE TO SIDE. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS HARD TO MAINTAIN IN ONE POSITION AND KEEP THE VEHICLE STRAIGHT AS IT CONTINUED TO OSCILLATE SIDE TO SIDE. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID I SHOULD BRING IT IN AND THAT IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE IN THAT CONDITION. I WAS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE TRANSPORTING MY CHILDREN IN THIS VEHICLE. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AND FAULT CODE C0478 ELECTRIC STEERING MOTOR CIRCUIT HIGH WAS FOUND. THE DEALER REPLACED THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE PART NUMBER 22837369. COST $715.54. I DID SOME RESEARCH PRIOR TO TAKING TO THE DEALER AND FOUND THAT THIS ISSUE IS A RECALL IN CANADA FOR 67,414 VEHICLES. NOT SURE WHY THE NHTSB DOESN'T FOLLOW TRANSPORT CANADA ON THIS. I WILL FILE A COMPLAINT WITH GM. THIS IS THE INFORMATION I FOUND. TRANSPORT CANADA RECALL # 2012331 FOR 2008 MODEL YEAR VEHICLES, DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE POWER STEERING MOTOR CONTROL MODULE. *TR
THE ESC TRACTION LIGHT FLASHED ON AND OFF RANDOMLY, THEN THE CHECK AIRBAG LIGHT FLASHED ON AND OFF RANDOMLY AND FUEL TANK AND THE ENGINE GAUGES GOING UP THEN BACK DOWN TO ZERO. AND NOW THE SECURITY SYSTEM HAS "LOCKED UP" AND WILL NOT DISENGAGE. I FOUND A WEBSITE [XXX] LOTS OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME EXACT ISSUE, MANY START WITH CHANGING OUT TO A NEW BATTERY, THEN THE STATER AND THEN THE ALTERNATOR ONLY TO HAVE THIS ISSUE CONTINUE AND COSTING THEM A SMALL FORTUNE. IT SEEMS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE COMPUTER CONTROL PANEL HAVING A MALFUNCTION OR SHORT. BUT SINCE SATURN NO LONGER EXISTS, GM IS NOT DOING A RECALL EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE VERY MUCH AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. I HAD MY CAR TOWED INTO THE LOCAL GM DEALERSHIP TO DIAGNOSIS / REPAIR THIS MORNING. THEY JUST CALLED ME BACK SAYING THAT THE "UNDER BUS ELECTRIC CENTER" HAS SHORTED OUT / MALFUNCTIONED? BECAUSE IT'S NOT GETTING ANY POWER TO IT WHEN THEY TESTED IT. AFTER READING ALL THE POSTS ON THE ABOVE WEBSITE, IT APPEARS TO BE THE SAME ISSUE. THE POINT IN FILING A COMPLAINT IS THAT #1) GM IS WELL AWARE OF THE COMPUTER PANEL SHORTING OUT / BEING DEFECTIVE AS THERE ARE MORE THAN A 100 REPORTS. AND #2) AS SOMEONE ELSE HAD POSTED, DOES IT TAKE THIS ISSUE HAPPENING WHILE A PERSON IS DRIVING THE CAR, BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND DYING BEFORE ANY TYPE OF INVESTIGATION OR RECALL IS ENFORCED? AND IF AN ACCIDENT HAPPENS, WOULD THE COMPUTER CONTROL PANEL EVEN BE TESTED? OR WOULD THE ACCIDENT BE ATTRIBUTED TO SOME OTHER CAUSE LIKE DRIVER ERROR OR WEATHER CONDITIONS OR WORN OUT TIRES? WHEN I DID DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD GO OFF COMPLETELY. THEN, AFTER APPROXIMATELY 10 SECONDS, THEY WOULD COME BACK ON LIKE THEY WERE BEING DEPRESSED. ALSO, THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT WORKING. IT WOULD NOT SET AND HOLD THE CAR AT A SPECIFIC SPEED. *TR

ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WHEN TRAVELING OVER A PUDDLE, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SPIN IN PARTIALLY INTO THE DIRECTION OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. ALSO, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL DID NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 14V252000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.

THERE IS SOME SORT OF SHORT IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THE CRUISE CONTROL IS RANDOMLY DISABLED, ANY THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE FUNCTIONING BACKWARDS. THEY ARE ON WHEN NOT PRESSING THE BRAKES, THEN GO OFF WHEN PRESSING THE BRAKES. A FEW MILES DOWN THE ROAD, AND THE MY CRUISE WORKS AGAIN AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS GO BACK TO NORMAL. A FEW MORE MILES, AND THE ISSUES RETURN. THIS IS DEFINITELY SOME SORT OF ELECTRICAL SHORT. I JUST HOPE IT DOESN'T WIND UP IN AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. THERE ARE SEVERAL REPORTS OF THE SAME ISSUE. I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK WHEN I SAW MY HIGH MOUNT BRAKE LIGHT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS NOT BEING PUSHED. THEN WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS LIGHTLY PUSHED THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD TURN OFF. THE PROBLEM ONLY OCCURS SOMETIMES. *TR
THE VEHICLE DOES NOT GO INTO PARK. WHEN PLACED IN PARK IT ROLLS FOWARD OR BACKWARD AND I MUST USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO TURN OFF THE CAR AND REMOVE THE KEY. IT ONLY ALLOWS ME TO START MY CAR IN NEUTRAL. IT HAS SHIFTED FROM DRIVE TO NEUTRAL AS I AM DRIVING. THERE HAS BEEN OVER 421, 000 OF THESE RECALLED BUT I AM BEING TOLD MINE IS NOT ON THE LIST AND I MUST PAY FOR IT ALL OUT OF POCKET FROM FALICIA, THE DISTRICT SPECIALIST FOR SATURN. MY BIGGEST CONCERN IS WHO WOULD THE BLAME BE ON IF MY CAR WERE TO ROLL INTO ANOTHER CAR OR BUILDING? I WANT AND NEED TO GET THIS FIXES ASAP BUT DO NOT HAVE ANY MONEY FOR OT AND DO NOT BELIEVE I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT WHEN ALL THE OTHERS WERE FIXED FOR FREE DUE TO IT BEING A DEFECT. *TR

THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD SHAKE WHEN DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING MOTOR AND MODULE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 38,147. UPDATED 9/4/13 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO TRAVEL LEFT AND RIGHT, WHILE THE STEERING WHEEL WAS HELD STRAIGHT. THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING MODULE WAS REPLACED.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE OVERPASS/HIGHWAY, CAR JUMPS/SKIPS TO THE SIDE (OPPOSITE OF TURNING DIRECTION). STEERING SHAFT HAS BEEN REPLACED AND DIDN'T SOLVE THIS ISSUE. WE HAVE HAD FRONT END BASICALLY RE-DONE ALSO. LOSING POWER STEERING FLUID; POWER STEERING WHINES AND IS VERY STIFF. I AM CONVINCED THAT THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE ON THE RECALL LIST!!! VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE AMOUNT OF MONEY WE HAVE HAD TO SINK INTO THIS CAR. WE'VE BEEN DEALING WITH A CONTINUUM OF REPEATED PROBLEMS FOR 3 PLUS YEARS!

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
