Battery drains fully from unknown reason. This has happened at least 3 times since purchasing the vehicle, brand new, in 2019. I have had to call roadside assistance within the first year and have purchased a 2 other new batteries. There were no light or other electrical items on which would have drained the battery. It’s starts slow where I need to jump start the vehicle about 5 times before the battery is completely dead. It puts me and my family at risk of being in an isolated or unsafe place when the battery dies and need to wait for roadside service. To my recollection there were no safety checks completed for this issue. I do have a scheduled appointment at a Subaru dealer on 10/27/22 where I will ask them to look at this. There were no warning signs or indications prior to the battery draining.
2019 SUBARU ASCENT WINDSHIELD CRACKS EASILY. SMALL ROCK ON FREE WAY HIT WINDSHIELD AND MADE A HUGE CRACK. 1ST CRACK WAS REPAIRED BY A PROFESSIONAL THROUGH INSURANCE COMPANY, 2ND CRACK HAPPENED TODAY 4/13/20.
A/C Pipe Evaporator refrigerant leaking
THE HOOD OF THE CAR POPPED UP TWICE WHEN DRIVING INTO A HEAD WIND ON THE HIGHWAY. IT SUDDENLY POPS UP AN INCH OR TWO AS IF IT IS ABOUT TO OPEN. THIS HAPPENED ON OUR FIRST TRIP ON THE INTERSTATE. I TOOK IT IN - THE DEALER COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG - AND ADJUSTED THE BUMPERS. THE NEXT TRIP DRIVING 65 INTO A CROSS WIND IT POPPED UP AGAIN. WE HAD TO STOP BOTH TIMES TO CLOSE THE HOOD AND WERE RELIEVED IT DID NOT COME ALL THE WAY UP. I WONDER IF THE LATCH IS NOT SUFFICIENT FOR THE DESIGN TO HANDLE A STRONG WIND. *TR THE CONSUMER REQUESTED TO WITHDRAW COMPLAINT STATING THAT THE LATCH DID NOT COME UNDONE. THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE FLEXED UP AFETR BEING BLOWN BY STRONG WIND. *JS
WAS DRIVING APPROX 40 MPH WHEN I HEARD A SMALL BANG. AT FIRST I THOUGHT I KICKED UP A SMALL STONE. 30 SECONDS LATER A CRACK DEVELOPED IN FRONT OF THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER. AT FIRST IT WAS ONLY ABOUT 6 INCHES LONG. AN HOUR LATER IT WAS CLOSE TO 18 INCHES
2 tires are showing cracks. The tires are losing their threads and it appears that the tires will blow up or tear open as I continue drive the vehicle.
CAR SHAKES WHEN IT IS NOT IN MOTION. WHEN THE CAR IS STOPPED ON THE ROAD, OR BRAKES ARE ENGAGED THE CAR WILL VIOLENTLY SHAKE. WHEN THE CAR ENGINE IS STARTING THE CHECK ENGINE LIKE FLASHES.
PURCHASED A NEW 2019 SUBARU ASCENT IN FEBRUARY 2019. AFTER HAVING IT HOME A FEW DAYS NOTICED A CHIP WITH A SMALL CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD ON THE BOTTOM DRIVERS SIDE CORNER NEAR THE BLACKED OUT AREA, WHICH I DID NOT SEE WHEN I TOOK THE CAR. CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND BROUGHT THE CAR IN TO SHOW THEM. THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR A NEW WINDSHIELD. A MONTH LATER I WROTE A LETTER TO THE OWNER OF THE DEALERSHIP AND NEVER RECEIVED A RESPONSE OR ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF MY LETTER. A YEAR LATER THE SMALL CRACK TURNED INTO A VERY LARGE CRACK AND ULTIMATELY I HAD TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD IN MARCH, 2020, AND PAY THE DEDUCTIBLE ON MY INSURANCE POLICY.
In February 2020, my wife and I discovered fraying on the edge of the second row center seat belt on our 2019 Subaru Ascent. The belt was stuck in the connected position and would not retract into the ceiling retracting apparatus. Other than the fraying on the edge of the belt, the belt was in near-new condition. The vehicle had approximately 23,000 miles on it. She took it to the dealer, Adventure Subaru of Fayetteville. The wear pattern was substantially the same as depicted on a 2022 Subaru Outback we own, Complaint #11468872. The dealer refused to honor the belt’s lifetime warranty. The technician said the fraying was caused by an “outside influence”, possibly our dog. The dog could not have damaged the belt in the manner of the fraying and there were no teeth marks or stains on the belt. It was imperative that the belts be replaced on the spot since our five grandchildren were occasional passengers. The dealer has no records identifying the “outside influence” When the fraying was discovered on the rear center belts on our Outback in May, 2022 (Complaint #1146872), I checked all belts in the Ascent. I discovered that the right and left third row belts had the same wear pattern as on the rear center seat belt replaced in February 2020 AND as on the 2022 Outback (Complaint 1146872). The dealer honored the lifetime warranty on the belts and replaced them on June 8, 2022, when the car had mileage of 48439. The wear pattern on the belt replaced on February 20, 2020, and June 8, 2022, were substantially similar to each other and to the wear pattern on the 2022 Outback. I checked both vehicles closely to find a pinch point or some other edge that could cause the fraying. It is not possible that our dog could have chewed any belt in the pattern displayed. WINDSHIELD HIT BY SMALL PEBBLE ON HIGHWAY. SMALL CHIP FORMED. WITHRN 5 MINUTES 10 INCH SPIDER CRACKS FORMED ALL AROUND. MIDDLE OF A ROAD TRIP HAD TO TURN BACK HOME AND SWITCH VEHICLES. DO NOT FEEL SAFE WITH A WINDSHIELD SOO FRAGILE. SECOND SUBARU IVE OWNED WITH SAME WINDHIELD ISSUE. FIRST WAS A 2018 SUBARU OUTBACK.
WINDSHIELD CRACK APPEARED FOR NO APPEARANT REASON
A PEBBLE FROM A GRAVEL COMPANY HIT MY WINDOW WHILE I WAS IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY, CAUSING A SMALL CHIP. BY THE NEXT MORNING A CRACK ACROSS MY ENTIRE WINDSHIELD HAD APPEARED.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED AGAINST THE DRIVER'S SIDE PILLAR ABOUT MIDWAY UP WHILE SITTING IN DRIVEWAY. WITHIN A COUPLE WEEKS, CRACK INCREASED IN SIZE UNTIL IN FRONT OF DRIVES VIEW.
1ST REPLACEMENT: REPLACED FACTORY WINDSHIELD (7/27/19) DUE TO CRACK FROM TOP RIGHT TO THE MIDDLE OF THE GLASS. 2ND REPLACEMENT: ON THE HIGHWAY ON RAMP AT <55 MPH, A PEBBLE HIT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE TOWARDS THE BOTTOM OF THE OEM (7/27/19) REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELD AND A SUBSTANTIAL CHIP (IMMEDIATE SPIDER CRACK) RESULTED. IN PROCESS OF HAVING THE CHIP FILLED, A 12" CRACK FORMED THAT SPREAD TOWARDS THE EXTERIOR EDGE AND INTERIOR OF THE WINDSHIELD. REPLACED WINDSHIELD ON 3/5/20 (SECOND WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT IN LESS THAN 8 MONTHS). STILL CONCERNED ABOUT RELIABILITY AND INTEGRITY OF THE OEM/FACTORY WINDSHIELDS THAT ARE INSTALLED ON THE SUBARU ASCENT.
BATTERY IS DEAD FREQUENTLY (1-2 TIMES PER WEEK). THIS OCCURS AFTER LEAVING ONE OR MORE DOORS OPEN (THUS THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ARE ILLUMINATED) FOR ONLY 5-10 MINUTES. WE ARE CONSTANTLY HAVING TO JUMP START THE CAR USING A PORTABLE LITHIUM ION BATTERY THAT WE PURCHASED BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR OVER A YEAR.
MY 2019 ASCENT WAS PARKED IN GARAGE OVERNIGHT. WENT OUT TO CAR AND FOUND REAR TAILGATE WOULD NOT OPEN AND CAR WOULD NOT START. BATTERY WAS DEAD. JUMPSTARTED CAR AND DROVE IT TO THE STORE. WHEN I PARKED THE CAR IT WENT DEAD, CAR WOULD NOT RESTART, AND WOULD NOT LOCK, TAILGATE WOULD NOT OPEN. HAD TO GET ROADSIDE SERVICE TO COME OUT AND START CAR. TOOK CAR TO DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG BUT DID REPLACE THE BATTERY. SEVERAL WEEKS LATER WHILE CAR WAS PARKED AND LOCKED IN A STORE PARKING LOT I CAME OUT AND FOUND THE REAR TAILGATE OPEN. NO ONE HAD PUSHED THE REMOTE TO OPEN THE TAILGATE? TODAY I FOUND THE CAR PARKED IN THE GARAGE AND THE TAILGATE WOULD NOT OPEN, THE CAR WOULD NOT START, AND THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AGAIN. I COULD FIND NO REASON FOR THE BATTERY TO BE DEAD AGAIN. THE CAR HAD BEEN DRIVEN NORMALLY AROUND TOWN FOR THE LAST FEW DAYS. IT WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE. ALL THE DOORS WERE SHUT AND NO LIGHTS HAD BEEN LEFT ON. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED IN JUNE 2019 AND HAS LESS THAN 6000 MILES ON IT PLUS THIS IS A NEW BATTERY. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT DRIVING THE CAR AND BEING LEFT ON THE ROAD BY A DEAD BATTERY OR COMING OUT AND FINDING THE REAR TAILGATE OPEN IN A PARKING LOT.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT - DIAGNOSIS ' VEHICLE LOSES POWER AFTER RAPID ACCELERATION ABOVE 45MPH. A WHOOSHING SOUND OCCURS AND THEN ACCELERATION IS LIMITED. ALL WARNING LIGHTS FLASH INCLUDING 'CHECK ENGINE.' THIS HAS OCCURRED ONCE ABOUT A MONTH AGO AND DIAGNOSED AS A POORLY REPLACED GAS CAP'ALTHOUGH IT WAS ACTUALLY ON SECURELY. IT OCCURRED 2 WEEKS LATER 3 MORE TIMES WITHIN TWO DAYS. I BROUGHT IT IN WITH THE LIGHTS ON AND ISSUE STILL OCCURRING TO SUBARU PACIFIC. THEY CLEARED CODES AND TRIED TO RECREATE ISSUE WITHOUT SUCCESS. THEY RELEASED THE CAR BACK TO ME AFTER CORPORATE DEFERRED TO THEM. UPON DRIVING OUT OF DEALERSHIP, THE SAME THING HAPPENED ONLY AFTER ACCELERATION ABOVE 18 MPH'ALL WARNING LIGHTS BACK ON AND SPUTTERING/JERKING/LOSS OF POWER. WHOOSHING SOUND. DEALER IS IN POSSESSION OF THE CAR AGAIN TO LOOK INTO IT. ALSO, THERE TENDS TO BE A GREY-BLUE HUE TO THE EXHAUST EACH TIME CAR STARTS.
WAS AT CHURCH ON A SUNDAY,VEHICLE WAS PARKED OUTSIDE. WHEN LEAVING HOME GETTING INTO THE VEHICLE NOTICED THERE WAS A CRACK ON FRONT WINDOW. *TR
2019 ASCENT WITH 6000 MILES GARAGE KEPT SUSTAINED COMPLETE ELECTRICAL FAILURE AT GAS STATION REFILL. CAR DROVE AND STARTED NORMALLY GOING TO STATION AND AFTER FILLUP FAILED TO START.
THE BRAKES SQUEAL, LIKE METAL TO METAL.THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME. THE ROTORS WERE REPLACE AT ABOUT 13,000 MILES. I WAS TOLD BY THE TECH AT THE DEALERSHIP THE ROTORS NEED REPLACED AGAIN. I WAS TOLD THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE BUT WHEN APPLYING THE BREAKS IT SEEMS I NEED MORE PRESSURE THAT BEFORE. I THINK MAY BE SAFETY ISSUE.
I PURCHASED VEHICLE IN DECEMBER 2018 FOR 2019 MODEL. THE ORIGINAL BATTERY ONLY LASTS SLIGHTLY OVER ONE YEAR. IT IS COMMON KNOWLEDGE THAT BATTERY OF A NEW VEHICLE NORMALLY LASTS FOR MORE THAN 5 YEARS. BATTERY RAN OUT IN LESS THAN 14 MONTHS IS VERY WEIRD AS I HAVE ONLY DRIVEN AROUND 2,500 MILES ONLY. I AM STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT THE BATTERY IS DEFECTIVE.
THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHILE DRIVING IN THE FREEWAY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 SUBARU ASCENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL FUEL ODOR IN THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO (PAUL MILLER SUBARU 3469 US-46, PARSIPPANY-TROY HILLS, NJ 07054 (973) 402-1700), TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE FUEL VAPOR CANISTER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT A REPRESENTATIVE WOULD BE SENT TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE WHICH WAS STILL PENDING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000.
CAR WAS SHAKING WHILE IDLING/ SHIFTING HARD/ STUDDERING WHILE TRYING TO SHIFT AND NOT SHIFTING WHILE GOING UP AN INCLINE. THE TRANSMISSION WAS DAMAGED FROM THE SLACK IN THE CVT BELT AND NOW HAS TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED. ALSO THE BATTERY DIED. NO DOORS WERE LEFT OPEN AND NO LIGHTS WERE LEFT ON. NO REASON TO HAVE A DEAD BATTERY OTHER THAN A LARGE PARASITIC DRAIN WHILE THE CAR IS OFF.
IN JANUARY 2020, WITHIN ONE MONTH OF OWNERSHIP, AT 1200 MILES, MY WINDSHIELD BEGAN TO CRACK AND SPREAD OVER THE ENTIRE GLASS. I REPLACED IT WITH OEM GLASS AND THE DEALER RECALIBRATED THE EYESIGHT SYSTEM. IN DECEMBER 2020, AT ABOUT 20,000 MILES, THE WINDSHIELD GLASS STARTED TO PRESENT GOLD SPECKLES WHEN LIGHT HIT IT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND HE FOUND NOTHING. IT CONTINUES TO IMPACT MY VISIBILITY.
I WAS REAR-ENDED REALLY BAD AT 35+ SPEED OF RESPONSIBLE PARTY, WHILE I WAS AT FULL STOP. IMPACT TOTALED MY VEHICLE, BUT THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. SUBSEQUENTLY, I HIT A STEERING WHEEL WITH MY FOREHEAD AND SUFFERED ONLY A CONCUSSION, LUCKILY.
IN LOW SPEED WHEN WANTING INCREASE SPEED, THE ENGINE LOSES POWER AND BRIEFLY SPUTTERS AND THEN RECOVERS AND ACCELERATES. USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE WHEN GOING UP HILL AND FROM SLOW, RIGHT TURNS. USUALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEED, IT CAN QUICKLY ACCELERATE.
I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW. 2-3 MONTHS LATER I WENT ON VACATION AND CAME BACK TO A HUGE CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD THAT SPONTANEOUSLY APPEARED IN MY HEATED GARAGE WITHOUT AN ASSOCIATED CHIP. IT GRADUALLY EXPANDED BUT I WAITED UNTIL AFTER WINTER TO REPLACE TO AVOID ADDITIONAL CHIPS IN THE WINTER. 2-3 MONTHS AFTER I REPLACED FOR $700 WHILE DRIVING AGAIN A SPONTANEOUS CRACK APPEARED BEFORE MY EYES STARTING AT THE EDGE AND MOVING DOWN WITHOUT ANY APPARENT ROCK HITTING IT PRIOR. SINCE THEN 3 ADDITIONAL CRACKS HAVE APPEARED LARGELY COVERING MY WINDSHIELD. I LIVE IN ALASKA AND HAVE FOR YEARS. I HAVE 4 VEHICLES AND THIS ONE IS JUST DRIVEN AROUND TOWN. THE SUBURBAN WINDSHIELD IS COVERED IN CHIPS BUT NEVER IN MY 20+ YEARS OF CAR OWNERSHIP OF 20 OR SO VARIOUS CARS HAVE SEEN A WINDSHIELD THAT CRACKS TO THIS EXTENT WITHOUT LARGE ROCKS EVEN HITTING IT. THESE CRACKS ARE NOT A CHIP FROM A ROCK THAT EXPANDS. THERE IS CLEARLY A FLAW WITH THIS WINDSHIELD. FIRST TIME I WAS LIKE HUH WEIRD. SECOND WINDSHIELD WITH SAME EXACT PROBLEM, THERE IS CLEARLY AN ISSUE. DEALER IS TELLING ME TOUGH COOKIES LADY. THESE WINDSHIELDS ARE LIKE 1000$ TO REPLACE WITH THE RECALIBRATION REQUIRED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 SUBARU ASCENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IDLE THE BATTERY WOULD DRAIN WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE JUMP STARTED OR THE BATTERY REPLACED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WALKER'S RENTON SUBARU (555 SW GRADY WAY, RENTON, WA 98057, (425) 226-2775) WHO WERE UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,300.
AFTER LEAVING THE REAR HATCH OPEN FOR AN EXTENDED TIME WHILE LOADING THE CAR FOR A TRIP TO FLORIDA, IT FAILED TO START. IT ALSO WAS NOT ABLE TO BE JUMP START IT WITH ANOTHER CAR BATTERY. IT WAS FINALLY TOWED TO THE DEALER ON 12/31/19 & THEY CHARGED THE BATTERY & TESTED & REPROGRAMMED IT.SINCE I WAS GOING AWAY FROM HOME FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD, I DIDN'T WANT TO TAKE A CHANCE THAT THE DISCHARGED BATTERY WOULD CAUSE FURTHER PROBLEMS, SO I PURCHASED A NEW BATTERY & HAD IT INSTALLED. AS I UNDERSTAND FROM THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN, A SENSOR ON THE TAILGATE DID NOT SHUT OFF THE CARGO LIGHT WHEN IT WAS LEFT OPEN FOR THE EXTENDED PERIOD, WHICH DISCHARGED THE BATTERY TO ALMOST NO ENERGY REMAINING. THIS EXTREMELY LOW ENERGY CAUSED THE BATTERY NOT TO BE ABLE TO BE JUMPED & FORCED IT TO BE TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE CHARGED. I UNDERSTAND THAT ALMOST COMPLETE DISCHARGING OF A BATTERY SIGNIFICANTLY SHORTENS ITS LIFE & RELIABILITY. I BELIEVE THAT THIS MODEL SUBARU HAS A DESIGNED DEFECT IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM THAT CAUSES THE BATTERY TO BE ALMOST COMPLETELY DISCHARGED BY HAVING THE TAILGATE OPEN FOR THE TIME IT TAKES TO PACK THE CAR. THIS BELIEF IS REINFORCED BY CHECKING THE INTERNET & LEARNING THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD SIMILAR EXPERIENCES & HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT IT TO THE CAR MANUFACTURER. THE CAR MANUFACTURER NEEDS TO BE FORCED TO INSTITUTE A RECALL & PROVIDE A SOFTWARE "PATCH" & WHATEVER ELSE NEEDS TO BE MODIFIED OR CHANGED TO PREVENT THE BATTERY FROM DISCHARGING IN THE FUTURE. IF PART OF THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM WAS THAT THE OEM BATTERY WAS INAPPROPRIATELY SIZED, THEN THEY SHOULD ALSO REIMBURSE ME FOR THE NEW BATTERY THAT WAS PURCHASED.
DRIVING NORMAL, 30 MPH ON A FLAT ROAD, WHEN ALL DASH LIGHTS LIT UP. RAB, BREAK, CHECK ENGINE, EVERY SINGLE DASH LIGHT AT THE SAME TIME. WE THEN LOST POWER STEERING, AND WHEN WE PULLED OVER COULDN'T GET THE CAR INTO PARK. EVENTUALLY AFTER FIGHTING WITH IT, CAR WENT INTO PARK. ATTEMPTED TO RESTART IT, AND IT DID RE-START BUT WITH THE SAME LIGHTS ON THE DASH. IT WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN AND HAD LOST POWER IN A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. CAR WAS TOWED. DEALER HAS HAD IT SINCE THEN, NOW 01/21/20 AND THEY KNOW IT'S ELECTRICAL, IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE THEY DROVE IT, BUT THEY CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS.
FRESH FUEL SMELL FROM THE VEHICLE (ENTERING THE CABIN WHILE DRIVING AND UPON PARKING). UPON ARRIVING HOME YESTERDAY, THE SMELL WAS STILL VERY STRONG. I WENT A STEP FURTHER AND PULLED THE OIL DIPSTICK TO CHECK THE LEVEL AND TO SEE IF THAT'S WHERE IT WAS ORIGINATING FROM. SURE ENOUGH, THAT IS WHERE I AM SMELLING IT. I WENT SO FAR AS TO WIPE OFF THE DIPSTICK AND CHECK ONCE AGAIN WITH THE SAME RESULT. I ALSO NOTED THAT THE OIL LEVEL IS WELL ABOVE THE HIGH MARK. MY MAIN CONCERN IS THE RISK FOR DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE GIVEN THAT IT APPEARS THAT FUEL IS MIXING IN WITH THE OIL.
FRONT WINDSHIELD CRACKED FOR NO REASON.
ONE NIGHT WHILE DRIVING NORMALLY DOWN A SMOOTH ROAD TO OUR HOUSE, MY FIANC NOTICED A SIGNIFICANTLY LARGE CRACK IN THE BOTTOM OF MY WINDSHIELD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I HADN'T BEEN HIT BY ANYTHING, NOR WAS I ANYWHERE NEAR FLYING OBJECTS THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED SAID CRACK. WITHIN THE NEXT TWO DAYS OR SO THE CRACK TRIPLED IN SIZE WITH NO REASON. AT THIS POINT IT WAS ACROSS 1/4 OR SO OF THE BOTTOM OF MY WINDSHIELD. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED SUBARU OF GEORGETOWN TO SCHEDULE A REPLACEMENT. I HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET BECAUSE MY INSURANCE SCREWED ME OVER. THAT WAS $1000 I WASN'T PLANNING TO SPEND WHILE ALSO PLANNING MY WEDDING.
IN A MATTER OF 3 WEEKS, THE ASCENT CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WITH NO OBJECTS IN VIEW OF THE CAR ON 2 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. THE ANTI-COLLISION BRAKING SYSTEM INITIATED FROM APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH TO A COMPLETE STOP, THINKING THE FOG WAS AN OBJECT. THIS IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE AS THE VEHICLE CAN STOP AT ANYTIME, IN THE FOG. IF THERE WAS TRAFFIC ON THE ROAD, WE WOULD HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED. DEALERSHIP COULD NOT REPLICATE PROBLEM, WILL BE CONTACTING SUBARU DIRECTLY NEXT. MILEAGE IS APPROXIMATELY 8,500.
REAR TAILGATE WON'T OPEN WHEN BUTTON PRESSED MAYBE HALF THE TIME. IT HAS CLOSED TWICE IN THE LAST WEEK WHILE GROCERIES WERE BEING LOADED AND HIT TWO PEOPLE IN THE HEAD. SUBARU DEALER HAS REPLACED THE CONTROLLING MODULE BUT IT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM HAS PERSISTED FOR A YEAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 SUBARU ASCENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED WITHOUT IMPACT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A GLASS REPAIR SHOP AND REPAIRED BUT NOT REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,965.
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, MY 2019 SUBARU ASCENT WINDSHIELD CRACKED SUDDENLY WITH NO APPARENT CAUSE. THE CRACK WAS 2 INCHES WIDE IN THE UPPER CENTER. VERY UPSETTING AS I HAD JUST BOUGHT THE CAR THE DAY PRIOR. DEC 7TH, 2019
WINDSHIELD CRACKED WITHIN A FEW DAYS OF DRIVING IT OFF THE LOT. I WAS JUST DRIVING IT AND I NOTICED A SMALL CRACK...AND THEN WITHIN A FEW DAYS THE CRACK WENT THE ENTIRE LENGTH OF THE WINDSHIELD.
BRAKES MADE LOUD NOISE EVEN WHEN DRIVING OFF THE LOT. TOLD IT WAS A NEW CAR AND IT WILL SUBSIDE. THE NOISE DID NOT SUBSIDE. IT GREW LOUDER. TOOK CAR TO SUBARU DEALER WHERE THEY TOLD ME THE ROTORS WOULD NEED TO,BE CUT! ON A NEW CAR WITH UNDER 900 MILES! TOOK IT HOME AND THE NOISE WAS LESS BUT GREW LOUDER AS THE WEEK WENT ON. BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO SUBARU AND THEY INDICATED THEY WOULD REPLACE THE ROTORS AND THE BRAKE PADS. OF COURSE, THEY DIDN'T MENTION IT WOULD TAKE OVER A WEEK AND A HALF TO GET THE PARTS. NOISE WAS WHEN BRAKING WHETHER STATIONARY OR MOVING. ANOTHER ISSUE IS WHEN MY CELL PHONE RINGS, THE RADIO STARTS BLASTING! I ALMOST RAN OFF THE ROAD. THIS HAPPENED TWICE AND THE DEALERSHIP CAN'T SEEM TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE. THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD NOT HAD TO RESOLVE BOTH THE BRAKES AND RADIO ISSUE WITH ANYONE ELSE IN THEIR DEALERSHIP. I FIND THIS HARD TO BELIEVE, UNLESS THEY DID NOT SELL MANY ASCENTS. I AM ALSO WORRIED ABOUT THE ELECTRICAL AND TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS I KEEP HEARING PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED FROM A SMALL ROCK WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY 6 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE
AFTER CLEANING AND DETAILING THE INSIDE OF MY 2019 ASCENT, THE BREAK PEDAL WOULD ONLY DEPRESS1/2 TO 1 INCH PREVENTING THE AUTO TO START. AUTO ROADSIDE SERVICE JUMP STARTED AND SAID LEAVING DOORS OPEN DRAINED BATTERY BELOW 12V, PREVENTING IT FROM STARTING. SAID SUBARU BATTERIES ARE WAY UNDER POWERED AND DRAIN EASILY.
TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH WHEN A DEER JUMPED IN FRONT OF OUR CAR AND WE HIT IT WITH THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE CRUSHING THE FRONT END. ALL AIR BAGS IMMEDIATELY DEPLOYED AND THE FRONT END BEGAN SMOKING PROFUSELY. WITHIN MINUTES OF GETTING OUT OF THE VEHICLE IT BURST INTO FLAMES AND THE ENTIRE VEHICLE BURNED UP. CONCERNED THAT THESE VEHICLES WILL BURST INTO FLAMES DURING A FRONT END COLLISION AT HIGH SPEEDS.
REAR HATCH DOES NOT FULLY CLOSE OCCASIONALLY. THIS IS ONLY NOTED BY THE HATCH APPEARING OPEN AND THE BATTERY BEING COMPLETELY DRAINED AND DEAD. ON TWO OCCASIONS I HAVE CLOSED THE HATCH WITH THE ON-DOOR BUTTON AND CAME BACK TO FIND THE HATCH SLIGHTLY AJAR AND THE BATTERY COMPLETELY DEAD.
THE WINDSHIELD ON MY SUBARU ASCENT CRACKED IN TWO DIFFERENT PLACES WITHOUT ANYTHING STRIKING THEM. PLEASE SEE PICTURES ATTACHED TO SEE. ON BOTH OCCASIONS MY CAR WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY AND WHEN I CAME OUT THERE WAS A CRACK ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THIS HAPPENED WITHIN TWO WEEKS OF EACH OTHER.
THIS STARTED WITH ONLY 6K MILES ON 2019 ASCENT, THE BRAKES RIDE EXTREMELY ROUGH. BRAKING DOES ARE NOT AS EFFECTIVE AS THEY SHOULD BE. THIS MAKES BRAKING, GIVE THE CAR A BUMPY RIDE AS IT DECELERATES AND THE DRIVER AN UNEASY FEELING.
WE TOOK POSSESSION OF THIS VEHICLE OCTOBER 2019, BRAND NEW ORDER. EVER SINCE WE HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE WE HAVE QUESTIONED SEVERAL DEALERS REGARDING THE HEADLIGHTS PLACEMENT. WHEN YOU DRIVE ON NON LIT ROADS YOU CAN ONLY SEE ABOUT 6 FEET IN FRONT OF YOU. ANYONE WALKING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, AN ANIMAL, BROKEN DOWN VEHICLE, THE STREET YOU ARE SUPPOSE TO TURN ON; YOU DO NOT SEE UNTIL YOU ARE RIGHT ON TOP OF THE OBJECT. WE HAVE BEEN DRIVING WITH THE HIGH BEAMS ON IN ORDER TO SEE WHAT IS AHEAD OF US. THE LOW BEAMS ENGAGED SEEM TO HAVE A WALL ABOUT 6 FEET OUT THAT YOU CAN NOT SEE BEYOND THAT AREA. WE WERE TOLD THAT THE HEADLIGHTS ARE AIMED PROPERLY AND THERE IS NOTHING THAT THEY CAN OR WILL DO ABOUT IT. WHEN DRIVING IN A LIGHTED AREA IT IS NOT AS BAD; WHEN DRIVING DOWN BACK UNLIT ROADS WITH TRAFFIC COMING AT YOU OR TRAFFIC IN FRONT OF YOU THE HEADLIGHTS ARE TERRIBLE. WE LIVE IN A RURAL AREA WITH VERY LITTLE STREET LIGHTING AND I AM REALLY CONCERNED ABOUT HITTING SOMETHING BECAUSE THE HEADLIGHT DO NOT ILLUMINATE ENOUGH TO SEE OBJECTS IN THE ROAD. WE ASKED OUR SALES PERSON ABOUT THE HEADLIGHTS AND HE WENT OUT AND TESTED OUR CONCERN, HE TOLD US TO SAY SOMETHING TO THE MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT WHEN WE BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR ITS FIRST INSPECTION. WE WERE TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT THE HEADLIGHTS. I HAVE ASKED AT THE NEXT DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING. I AM AT A LOSS ON HOW TO CORRECT THIS.
HAD TWO CHIPS IN THE WINDSHIELD, ONE CRACKED AND HAD TO REPLACE WINDSHIELD. 24 HRS LATER HAD ANOTHER CHIP AND ANOTHER WITHIN A COUPLE OF WEEKS. I ONLY DRIVE ON THE FREEWAY ONCE PER WEEK AND DON'T DRIVE MUCH BECAUSE I WORK FROM HOME. I USED TO DRIVE 60 MILES ON THE FREEWAY EVERY DAY FOR SCHOOL AND WORK WHEN I OWNED A SUBURA IMPREZA (2007) AND OUTBACK (2014) AND NEVER ONCE HAD A CHIP IN THOSE 5 YEARS UNTIL I PURCHASED ASCENT. I EXPRESSED MY CONCERNS AND WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE NEW SUBARUS USE A THINNER GLASS DUE TO THE NEW EYE SIGHT FEATURE AND YOU DO NOT GET THE OPTION TO PURCHASE A THICKER GLASS WINDSHIELD. *TR
BRAKE FAILURE ON NEW CAR
GOT INTO THE CAR AT HOME IN THE GARAGE AND THE CAR WOULD NOT START DUE TO A DEAD BATTERY. IT WAS FORTUNATE THAT THE BATTERY DIED AT HOME. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY STRESSFUL IF THIS HAD OCCURRED WHILE WE WERE OUT OF TOWN AND NOT CLOSE TO A SUBARU DEALER. AFTER SUBARU REPLACED THE BATTERY, IT DIED AGAIN ON APRIL 4, 2020, ALSO AT HOME WHILE THE CAR WAS IN THE GARAGE. AT THAT TIME, THE DEALER SIMPLY RECHARGED THE BATTERY AND PERFORMED DEEP DIAGNOSTICS WHICH DID NOT INDICATE ANY SYSTEMIC ELECTRICAL ISSUE. I HAVE ATTACHED A LOG OF ISSUES WHICH POINT TO OTHER ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ISSUES THAT SUBARU HAS ACKNOWLEDGED ARE KNOWN ISSUES BUT SUBARU HAS NOT OR WILL NOT FIX THE ROOT ELECTRICAL CAUSES OF THESE ISSUES VIA A RECALL. THIS BATTERY ISSUE HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED ON OTHER SUBARU MODELS IN PRIOR YEARS. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE FILE I HAVE ATTACHED IS A LOG OF ALL PROBLEMS I HAVE HAD WITH THE CAR SINCE PURCHASING IT. MOST OF THEM ARE RELATED TO THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM (OF WHICH THE BATTERY IS PART OF) SO FOCUS ON THOSE TOO IF APPROPRIATE.
