BATTERY DIES REGULARLY - DEALER HAS REPLACED THE BATTERY THREE TIMES ALREADY. NO LIGHTS ARE ON, NO CLEAR REASON WHY THE BATTERY SLOWLY AND CONSISTENTLY DRAINS OVER TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, BUT CHILD AND PET HAVE BEEN LOCKED INSIDE, AND IT HAS HAPPENED IN REMOTE LOCATIONS. ALSO, WITH ELECTRICAL PARKING BRAKE, IT CAN'T BE RELEASED FOR TOWING WHEN THE BATTERY DIES. STRANDED IN THE WOODS WITH A KID TRAPPED IN THE CAR AND NO MEANS OF JUMPING IT IS VERY DANGEROUS.
HATCH LEFT OPEN OVER NIGHT, PARKED IN GARAGE. NEXT MORNING FOUND BATTERY WAS DRAINED AND UNABLE TO START ENGINE.
ON THE DAY THAT I BOUGHT THE CAR, ON MY WAY BACK HOME, A SMALL ROCK CRACKED THE WINDSHIELD. OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS, THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED IN 4 MORE SPOTS. THE QUALITY SEEMS REALLY BAD. I'VE NEVER HAD THIS WITH ANY OTHER CAR.
WHEN DRIVING IN LOW SPEEDS, THE CAR IS VERY JUMPY AND SEEMINGLY INCONSISTENT WITH THE AMOUNT OF FUEL DELIVERED TO THE PEDAL. THE CAR SEEMS LIKE IT WILL ALMOST STALL OUT, THEN I HAVE TO PUSH THE GAS PEDAL FURTHER DOWN TO DELIVER MORE GAS, BUT THEN IT MAKES ME GO TO FAST AND JUMPS.
VEHICLE BLOWS OUT WHITE SMOKE UPON START UP, THIS IS A HIT AND MISS PROBLEM. THIS IS AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN PARKED OVER NIGHT, BUT HAS OCCURRED AFTER PARKED FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS, IT HAS BEEN SENT TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES
WE BOUGHT A USED 2019 SUBARU ASCENT TOURING (CA. 18,000 MILES) IN JULY OF THIS YEAR. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE BATTERY WHEN WE BOUGHT IT. SINCE THEN, THIS NEW BATTERY HAS DIED FIVE TIMES ON US, THE FIRST TIME ON SEPTEMBER 4 2020 AND MOST RECENTLY ON NOVEMBER 28. IT HAS ALWAYS DIED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. AFTER IT DIED THE THIRD TIME ON NOVEMBER 22, WE BROUGHT IT INTO THE LOCAL SUBARU DEALERSHIP. THEY HELD THE CAR FOR TWO NIGHTS AND WERE UNABLE FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. IT IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN.
A crack appeared one morning on the drivers/middle of the windshield going from the bottom up about 8 inches then turning toward the drivers side. Took the car to the local Subaru dealer where the tech examined and at first could not locate a ding in the glass. He eventually used a ball point pen and ran it along the crack. Just behind the wiper he said he felt some resistance and that indicated a chip. He rubbed the pen tip aggressively over this point till there was some wear. I pointed out that not only was this behind the wiper but how could something so small that it took hard rubbing with the pen to provide "a source" for the crack cause the windshield to break. I suspect a defective windshield.
In March of 2020, I took the car into the dealership due to the multiple times I had to charge the car, their answer was I wasn’t driving the car enough. They charged the battery and told me I needed to drive the car at least 20 minutes every couple of days at 50mph+ in order to keep the battery charged. In August of 2020 I had just loaded up the car to go on a vacation and when I went to leave the house the car would not start. After charging the battery for 30 minutes in the garage it then started. Fast forward to June of 2021, I have had to charge the battery 4 more times in order for it to start. The last time was when we were leaving a campground in May, 2021, and the car wouldn’t start due to the battery. Fortunately the campground had a charger and got us back on the road.
MY WIFE AND I PURCHASED A NEW SUBARU ASCENT IN FEBRUARY OF LAST YEAR. SINCE THEN INTERMITTENTLY THERE IS A LARGE BLUE/GRAY CLOUD OF SMOKE THAT COMES FROM THE EXHAUST WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED. HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE LOCAL DEALER FOR REPAIR 4 TIMES AND THEY REPLACED A PART THE FIRST TIME BUT SINCE THEN SAID THAT THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. ACCORDING TO THE ASSISTANT SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALER THEY HAVE SEEN THIS PROBLEM BEFORE AND SUBARU AMERICA IS ALSO AWARE BUT HAVE SAID "(THAT THERE IS NO FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM)". AT THE SECOND AND THIRD VISITS THEY HAD SAID "(THEY WERE GOING TO CHANGE A PART IN THE CAR BUT THEN DECIDED NOT TO BECAUSE THE REPRESENTATIVE FROM SUBARU OF AMERICA SAID IT WOULD NOT HELP)". THE SERVICE REPORTS FOR THESE VISITS ONLY STATE THAT THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER THEN SAID THAT ANY SOLUTIONS WOULD HAVE TO COME FROM SUBARU OF AMERICA. ACCORDING TO SUBARU OF AMERICA THEY HAVE NOT SEEN THIS PROBLEM BEFORE AND THEY OFFER NO REMEDY. FROM WHAT I HAVE LEARNED THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE KNOWN TO SUBARU. I KNOW OF ONE PERSON THAT STATES HIS "ENGINE BLEW" (A2002SLP@YAHOO.COM) AFTER HE HAD HIS CAR EVALUATED BY SUBARU, AFTER MANY MONTHS THEY AGREED TO REPLACE HIS ENGINE. THE BATTERY HAS REPEATEDLY BEEN DRAINED TO THE POINT WHERE THE CAR WILL NOT START. THE CAUSE APPEARS TO BE LEAVING THE TAILGATE OPEN WITH THE ENGINE OFF FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, EVEN IF I TURN OFF THE SMALL CARGO LIGHT AND SOME LIGHT TI AVOID BATTERY DRAIN WHILE THE TAILGATE IS OPEN. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 4 TIMES AND REQUIRED ME TO JUMP START THE CAR. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE BATTERY AFTER ONE OF THESE INCIDENTS AND TOLD ME THE BATTERY HAD BEEN SEVERELY DEPLETED, NECESSITATING REPLACEMENT. THE MOST RECENT TIME THIS HAPPENED, AFTER I JUMP STARTED THE CAR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON AS DID ALL WARNING LIGHTS FOR THE EYESIGHT SAFETY SYSTEMS THE X MODE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM, AND THE EYESIGHT SYSTEM DID NOT FUNCTION. IT HAS BEEN FORTUNATE THAT EVERY TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED I'VE BEEN AT HOME WHERE I COULD JUMP START THE CAR. IF THIS HAPPENS ON A TRIP WE WOULD BE STRANDED.
HAIRLINE CRACK ON WINDSHIELD. UNKNOWN HOW AND WHEN IT STARTED. NOTICED WHEN I ENTERED THE CAR IN EVENING.
CURRENTLY MY CAR IS BEING REPAIRED AT SUBARU DEALERSHIP HAD ISSUES WITH VIBRATION THEY ARE SEEING IF IT'S A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM APPARENTLY THERE WAS A RECALL WITH THE 2019 SUBARU ASCENT I NEVER RECEIVED ONE BUT I AM HAVING TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND THEY ARE LOOKING INTO WHAT THE DEAL IS I'M JUST WONDERING WHY I NEVER GOT A RECALL THIS IS DANGEROUS GOD FOR BID MY CAR OR TO SLOW DOWN OR STOP WHEN I'M DRIVING I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY I NEVER GOT THE NOTICE
I PURCHASED THE SUBARU ASCENT 2019 IN SEPTEMBER OF 2018. RECENTLY WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND APPLYING THE BRAKES A STRONG VIBRATION RESULTED WHILE BRAKING. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE SUBARU DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE TURNED. THE CAR ONLY HAS 14,000 MILES AND THE BRAKES ARE ALREADY FAILING.
BATTERY KEEPS GOING DEAD. HAPPENS WHILE STATIONARY. HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES FOR UNKNPWN REASON. I CHECKS FINE.
WHEN ACCELERATING THE CAR LURCHES AND HESITATES, THERE IS ALSO A LOW GROWLING NOISE FROM THE RIGHT SIDE. THIS HAPPENS MOST OFTEN AT LOW SPEEDS, IN NEIGHBORHOOD DRIVING, UNDER 30 MILES HOUR. THE CAR HAS ALREADY HAD A NEW TRANSMISSION AS WE WERE TOLD THIS WOULD RESOLVE THE ISSUE. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY THE ISSUE CONTINUED AND WAS BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE OFFICIAL DIAGNOSIS FROM THE DEALERSHIP IS WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE ISSUE IS AND WE CANNOT FIX IT. PLEASE DRIVE AS NORMAL. THIS ISSUE HAS BENE ONGOING WITH THE CAR FOR MONTHS.
MY ASCENT HAS A LITTLE OVER 16,000 MILES ON IT AND WAS PURCHASED FEB. 2019. THE BATTERY DIED JUST SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY AFTER NOT BEING DRIVEN FOR 4 DAYS. NO LIGHTS WERE LEFT ON AND TAIL GATE WAS NOT OPEN. HAD TO JUMP START IT AND TAKE IT TO SUBARU. BATTERY WAS DEFECTIVE. LUCKILY THIS HAPPENED AT HOME AND NOT 2 DAYS LATER WHEN I WAS SUPPOSED TO BE DRIVING TO THE AIRPORT FOR A FLIGHT.
PARKED THE CAR. THE REAR LIFTGATE WOULD NOT OPEN WITH FOB OR FROM DASHBOARD. TWO QUICK BEEPS BUT NO MOVEMENT. WE DECIDED TO JUST GRAB OUR ITEMS FROM THE INSIDE AND LEFT. WHEN WE RETURNED TO THE CAR ABOUT AN HOUR LATER, THE CAR WOULD UNLOCK BUT THE REAR LIFTGATE STILL DIDN'T WORK. WE LOADED UP THE CAR AND STARTED THE CAR BUT BATTERY WAS DEAD. AFTER CHARGING UP THE BATTERY, ALL THE MAJOR SAFETY CAR FEATURES HAVE BEEN DISABLED AND THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON WITH MANY OTHER LIGHTS SHOWING UP. THE CAR IS DRIVABLE BUT OBVIOUSLY DOESN'T FEEL RIGHT OR SAFE. I JUST CALLED SUBARU TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. I EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM. THEY ORIGINALLY SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT FOR 2 WEEKS LATER BUT I MANAGED TO GET AN APPOINTMENT FOR NEXT DAY. I'M CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE CAR ESPECIALLY WITH THE NUMBER OF OTHER OWNERS WITH ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS SPECIFICALLY RELATED TO THE TAILGATE.
WINDOW WITH LONG CRACK AFTER VERY SMALL ROCK HIT WINDSHIELD AT LOWER SPEED (45 MPH).
OUR CAR IS ABOUT A YEAR OLD AND THE CAR BATTERY HAS NOW DIED 3 TIMES. IT STARTED WHEN CAMPING WHEN OPENING AND SHUTTING THE LIFT GATE FOR UNLOADING. WE DON'T KEEP THE BACK END OPEN TO PREVENT CHIPMUNKS GETTING INTO THE CAR FOR FOOD, SO IT WAS NOT LEFT OPEN AND THE LIGHTS DRAINED IT. WE HAVE HAD TO PURCHASE JUMPER CABLES AND A BATTERY CHARGER SO WE DON'T GET STRANDED AGAIN IN THE MOUNTAINS OR OUR DRIVEWAY. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE BATTERY AND THEY SAW NO DRAIN ON IT. MAYBE THEY WILL COME JUMP OUR CAR WHEN WE NEED IT NEXT.
THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD 6,228 MILES ON THE ODOMETER AND THE BATTERY DIED. IT WAS PURCHASED IN APRIL 2019 AND BATTERY DIED IN JULY 2020.
THE FRONT PANEL OF MY SUNROOF HAS A LARGE CRACK ORIGINATING FROM A CONNECTION POINT WITH THE VEHICLE. I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED ANY IMPACTS IN THIS AREA THAT COULD EXPLAIN THE CRACK. I NOTICED THE CRACK WHEN PREPARING TO USE MY SUNROOF.
FOUND MY BATTERY DEAD AND MY REAR TRUNK DOOR OPEN. I HAD CLOSED IT AND PARKED MY CAR IN MY GARAGE THE EVENING OF THE 4TH. I WENT TO MY GARAGE TODAY AND DISCOVERED THIS. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS OCCURRED. AFTER SEARCHING THE WEB, I KNOW THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM THAT WILL CAUSE THE BATTERY TO GO DEAD IF THE REAR LATCH DOESN'T PROPERLY LATCH OR THE DOOR IS LEFT OPEN FOR A SPECIFIED AMOUNT OF TIME. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING. LAST TIME, I HAD TO CANCEL A DR'S APPOINTMENT WHEN I DISCOVERED IT. TODAY, I WAS JUST GOING TO MY GARAGE FOR ANOTHER PURPOSE SO DIDN'T NEED TO DRIVE ANYWHERE.
DEFECTIVE GLASS. WINDSHIELD AND MOONROOF GLASS BOTH CRACKED WHILE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. CAR WAS IN COVERED PARKING.
I HAVE A 2019 SUBARU ASCENT. ON JULY 2, MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING ON A RURAL ROAD WHEN OUT OF NOWHERE THE CAR STARTED VIBRATING AND RATTLING AND HIS SPEED WENT FROM 60 MPH DOWN TO 30 MPH IN A MATTER OF SECONDS AND THE CAR STARTED FLASHING INFORMATION ON THE DASH. AND THE CAR SHUT OFF. HE GOT OFF THE ROAD AND CALLED AAA. IT WAS AN HOUR AND A HALF BEFORE THEY GOT THERE. NOTHING AND NOBODY WAS AROUND AND HE HAD TO BEG THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER TO LET HIM AND OUR ELDERLY DOG RIDE TO THE NEAREST SUBARU DEALERSHIP WHICH WAS ABOUT 50 MILES AWAY. I WAS ALREADY AT THE BEACH AT EMERALD ISLE NC AND HAD TO GO PICK HIM UP AT PARKWAY SUBARU IN JACKSONVILLE NC. THIS WAS ON JULY 2,2020. TODAY, JULY 11, WE STILL DON'T HAVE MY CAR BACK. I AM THANKFUL THAT PARKWAY DEALERSHIP LOANED US A CAR TO GET BACK TO RALEIGH WHERE WE LIVE AND BOUT OUR CAR, AT SOUTHERN STATES SUBARU. PARKWAY HAS TOLD US VARIOUS THINGS THAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM. FOR FOR SEVERAL DAYS THEY HAD TO GUESS AS THE SUBARU HEADQUARTERS IT WAS 'DOWN'. AS OF NOW PARKWAY STILL HAS MY CAR AND I HAVE THEIR LOANER SUBARU OUTBACK. THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND COULD HAVE CAUSED A CRASHED AS WELL AS LEFT MY 65 YEAR OLD HUSBAND AND DOG STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF A VERY RURAL ROAD. THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE AND WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A VERY RELIABLE SUBARU ASCENT HAS GREATLY DISAPPOINTED. PLEASE HELP!!
AT 9119 MILES ON MY VEHICLE I HAD TO CONTINUALLY JUMP START THE VEHICLE IN ORDER TO START THE ENGINE. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE BATTERY ONCE FOR THIS SAME ISSUE AT 680 MILES.
Battery drains and vehicle inoperable. First time had to have towed to dealer- Adventure Subaru- who said problem not identified. Happens repeatedly. Left stranded .
WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE AROUND A TRUCK ON A HIGHWAY, THE CAR REFUSED, FELT LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL AND EVERY LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD LIT UP. MY SPEED WAS PROBABLY AROUND 60MPH, WHEN I TRIED TO QUICKLY GET AROUND THIS TRUCK. IT WAS FULL OF FURNITURE THAT I FELT WAS LOADED IN AN UNSAFE MANNER. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE CAR HAS DONE THIS AND THE CVT CHAIN SLIP WAS SUPPOSEDLY FIXED IN A RECALL N DECEMBER. THIS TIME SUBARU SAID IT WAS A LEAKY GASKET IN THE INTER COOLER??
2 WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENTS IN LESS THAN ONE YEAR. 1ST WAS NOVEMBER 2019 WITH MAJOR CRACK IN WINDSHIELD FROM SMALL ROCK WHILE DRIVING HWY 60 NEAR SALOME, AZ. INSURANCE REPLACED WITH OEM WINDSHIELD. 2ND WAS MAJOR CRACK FOR NO APPARENT REASON WHILE DRIVING ON US 10 NEAR MORONGO, CA IN JUNE 2020. BUMPY ROAD, BUT DID NOT HEAR ANYTHING HIT WINDSHIELD PRIOR TO IT CRACKING. PICTURES OF 2ND CRACK ATTACHED. REPLACED AT OWN COST OF $640.77 AS DID NOT WANT TO MAKE ANOTHER CLAIM TO INSURANCE COMPANY IN LESS THAN A YEAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 SUBARU ASCENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED WITHOUT IMPACT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, ASSISTANCE WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 6,100.
KEEPING THE REAR GATE OPEN, OR EVEN JUST OPENING AND CLOSING THE REAR GATE WHILE THE CAR IS PARKED, DRAINS THE BATTERY RAPIDLY. THIS CAN LEAVE DRIVERS STRANDED IN UNSAFE LOCATIONS. BASED ON DISCUSSIONS WITH OTHER ASCENT OWNERS, THIS PROBLEM IS WIDESPREAD. THIS BEGAN HAPPENING ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER WE BOUGHT THE ASCENT AND HAPPENS REGULARLY AND FREQUENTLY. SUBARU OF AMERICA APPEARS TO BE IN DENIAL THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM AND THERE ARE LAWYERS GATHERING INFORMATION ON A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT.. *TR
I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE ALMOST 1 YEAR. THE WINDSHIELD GOT A CHIP AND SMALL "SPIDERING" HAPPENED - PHOTO 1. THEN I WAS DRIVING IN THE RAIN AND A ROCK, I'M ASSUMING, DINGED THE WINDSHIELD. DIDN'T NOTICE ANYTHING BUT IT WAS RAINING. THE NEXT MORNING I LOOK AT THE WINDSHIELD AND THERE IS A BIG CRACK - PHOTO 2. TO REPLACE THIS, BECAUSE OF EYESIGHT, IS APPROX. $2000! AS MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON MY DRIVEWAYS AFTER MAYBE A DAY OR TWO WITHOUT DRIVING IT, MY BATTERY WAS DEAD. I JUMPED STARTED IT AND IT WORKED, BUT AS THEY WENT BY THE BATTERY KEPT DYING. I DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. THEY SAID MY BATTERY TESTED BAD AND BECAUSE THE CAR ONLY HAS 18K MILES, IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. OK, SO I WENT ON WITH MY DAY. A COUPLE OF WEEKS WENT BY AND THE BATTERY DIED AGAIN. BRAND NEW BATTERY. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY TELL ME THEY COULDNT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. TO LET IT DIE AGAIN AND TOW IT BACK TO THE DEALER. SO I DID! A WEEK AFTER MY BRAND NEW BATTERY HAD TESTED 'GOOD', IT HAD TO BE TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. TODAY THEY CALLED ME STATING A CELL IN THE BATTERY TESTED BAD SO THEY ARE GOING TO REPLACE IT. HOW COULD THAT BE POSSIBLE? SOMETHING IS WITHDRAWING CHARGE OFF THE BATTERY AND THEY CANT FIGURE IT OUT. THEY ARE GOING TO KEEP THE CAR OVERNIGHT TO SEE IF THEY NOTICE ANY DISCHARGE FROM THE BATTERY. BUT COM'ON. I HAVE GOTTEN MY TRANSMISSION REPLACED AT 5K MILES, MULTIPLE TIRES HAVE BLOWN OUT ON THE HIGHWAY, THE FUEL PUMP RECALL A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO AND NOW THIS ISSUE. DO NOT BUY A SUBARU PLEASE!!!!
MOON ROOF CRACKED. CAR WAS PARKED AWAY FROM TREES ETC. ROOF WAS IN TACK WHEN PARKED. VEHICLE WAS NOT IN MOTION. WHEN I RETURNED TO MY VEHICLE 2 HOURS LATER IT HAD A HUGE CRACK EXTENDING FROM BACK TO FRONT OF WINDOW. IT WAS A WARM SUNNY DAY, BUT NOT EXCESSIVELY HOT.
IF NOT STARTED FOR SEVERAL DAYS IT SEEMS SLUGGISH TO START. A 10 DAY PERIOD THIS MONTH OF NOT STARTING RESULTED IN INABILITY TO START. I CALLED SUBARU STARLINK AND WAS SENT A TOW TRUCK DRIVER TO GIVE ME A "JUMP"., WHICH WORKED. I WAS TOLD BY TOW TRUCK DRIVER THAT THE ALTERNATOR SEEMED TO BE FUNCTION---BY THE DIAGNOSTICS ON HIS BATTERY JUMP STARTER. THEN HE REPORTED HE HAS HAD TO JUMP NUMEROUS NEWER SUBARU VEHICLES. LATER THAT DAY, WITH THE VEHICLE PARKED IN MY GARAGE, I BRIEFLY-- SEVERAL MINUTES, A HIGH PITCHED WHINE/ELECTRIC LIKE, COMING FROM THE PASSENGER REAR CORNER NEAR WHEEL WHEEL WHER THE FUEL INTAKE IS LOCATED. THAT SOUND STOPPED SHORTLY LATER. I HAVE STARTED MY SUBARU DAILY OR EVERY DAY TO ENSURE IT WILL START. I SUSPECT SOME ELECTRICAL ITEM MAY BE DRAINING THE BATTERY--- WHICH ALREADY SEEMS UNDERSIZED FOR ALL THE NEWER ELECTRICAL ITEMS IN NEWER VEHICLES. COULD THA FUEL SYSTEM BE AT FAULT? I HAD HEARD ABOUT A FUEL PUMP RECALL/ISSUE. I AM NOT TRUSTING THIS VEHICLE TO START---AS EXPECTED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE.
PREMATURE BATTERY FAILURE. TWICE SINCE PURCHASE, THE BATTERY HAS FAILED TO START THE CAR AND HAD TO BE JUMP STARTED. BOTH TIMES THE TEMPERATURES WERE MODERATE AND THE CAR HAD BEEN DRIVEN AT LEAST 20 MILES BEFORE BEING PARKED. *TR
AIR CONDITIONER BROKE. ONE DAY IT WORKED, THE NEXT DAY IT DIDN'T. HAD TO TAKE IT TO SUBARU AND THEY SAID SOME TYPE OF TUBING SLIPPED OR BROKE. THEY FIXED IT AND SAID IT WAS A COMMON OCCURRENCE THERE.
A CRACK FORMED IN THE WINDSHIELD WHILE DRIVING STARTING ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, WHERE THE WINDSHIELD MEETS THE CAR FRAME. WE WERE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY GOING STRAIGHT, AT APPROX 75MPH AND THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS AROUND WHEN IT CRACK STARTED TO FORM. THERE WAS NO ROCK/ ITEM THAT HAD HIT THE CAR. IN LESS THAT 24 HOURS, THE CRACK GREW TO BE 3/4 ACROSS THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD. THERE WAS NO AREA THAT LOOKED LIKE A "POINT OF IMPACT" AND THERE WAS NO "STAR". WHEN SPEAKING TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID THAT MANY WINDSHIELDS THESE DAYS HAVE BEEN CRACKING EASIER THAN NORMAL, THAT THEY HAVEN'T BEEN MADE WELL THE LAST FEW YEARS. NO ONE AT SUBARU INFORMED ME OUT THIS WHEN I WAS BUYING THE CAR, AND THE MODEL AND YEAR HAVE BEEN ADDED TO A LIST OF KNOWN VEHICLES WITH WINDSHIELD ISSUES. *TR
LIFT GATE NOT WORKING. GETTING STUCK CLOSE AND DRAINING THE BATTERY. AT ONLY 17000 MILES WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY TWICE. WHEN TRYING TO START THE CAR WILL MAKE A VIBRATION SOUND AND ALL LIGHTS WILL COME ON BUT THE LIFT GATE IS SUSPENDED CLOSE AND THE VEHICLE WON'T START. THIS HAS HAPPENED OVERNIGHT. AND WHEN THE BATTERY IS JUMPED AND THE VEHICLE WILL START, THE LIFT GATE WILL STILL NOT OPEN. *TR
THE CAR WAS IN THE USUAL PARKING SPACE WHEN I GO TO WORK. NO HAZARD OR DEBRIS THAT MIGHT HIT THE CAR/ WINDSHIELD BUT TODAY WHEN I GET OFF FROM WORK, MY WINDSHIELD HAS A 30' LINEAR CRACK, EXTENDING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE UP TO THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD. THERE IS NO MARK THAT THE WINDSHIELD IS HIT BY A STONE OR DEBRIS OR HIT BY SOMETHING HARD. I DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPEN OR HOW IT GOT A CRACK. IT MIGHT BE POSSIBLE THAT THE WINDSHIELD WAS CRACK BY THE DIRECT HEAT OF THE SUN? MAYBE THE WINDSHIELD IS DEFECTIVE ON IT'S OWN AFTER CERTAIN TIME. OUR SUBARU ASCENT WAS PURCHASED ALMOST 23 MONTHS AGO WITH 30K MILEAGE. *TR
MY COMPLAINT IS THAT THE WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKS. I HAVE REPLACED MY WINDSHIELD ONCE LAST YEAR THINKING IT WAS CAUSED BY A SMALL ROCK. 5/29/20 MY WIFE INFORMED ME THAT ANOTHER ONE HAS FORMED AND DUE TO COVID MY WIFE HAS NOT LEFT THE HOUSE MUCH WHILE SHE HAS BEEN WORKING REMOTELY. *TR
THE BATTERY DRAINS REPEATEDLY IF YOU DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR EVERY DAY. SUBARU CLAIMS THERE IS NO PROBLEM AND JUST REPLACES THAT BATTERY. *TR
ON OT ABOUT OCTOBER 6TH OF 2019, VEHICLE(WHITE 2019 SUBARU ASCENT TOURING) WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE AND HAD BEEN DRIVEN THE DAY PRIOR. IT FAILED TO START PRIOR TO A CRITICAL PEDIATRIC SPECIALTY APPOINTMENT. SUBARU SENT A MECHANIC TO JUMPSTART THE CAR AND THE ENGINE TURNED OVER. THE APT WAS MISSED DUE TO THE DELAY. ON OR ABOUT MID-MAY OF 2020 THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START AFTER BEING PARKED IN THE GARAGE. ATTEMPTS TO CHARGE THE BATTERY DID NOT WORK. SUBARU ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE RETURNED AGAIN AND JUMP STARTED THE CAR. IT WAS LEFT TO RUN FOR OVER AN HOUR. THE FOLLOWING DAY IT WOULD NOT START AGAIN. *TR
DEAD BATTERY MULTIPLE TIMES, DEALER SHIP HAS REPLACED THE BATTERY BUT CONTINUES TO HAVE ISSUES AND LEFT STRANDED EACH TIME THIS OCCURS, ONE TIME ON 12-17-2020 IN THE MOUNTAINS IN FREEZING COLD WEATHER WITH A CHILD, NO HEAT BECAUSE OF DEAD BATTERY. THIS ISSUE CANN OCCURING WHEN THE BACK TAILGATE IS OPEN FOR 10 MINUTES. SUBARU IS NOT GOING TO LOOK INTO THE PROBLEM EVEN THOU THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS OCCURING ON SUBARU OUTBACKS AND THE ASCENT MODELS. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY CONCERN SINCE MY WIFE DRIVES THIS CAR MAINLY AND HAS HAD TO CALL FOR HELP TO GET THE CAR STARTED. I WILL BE BRINGING IT BACK TO THE DEALER ONCE AGAIN. THEY WILL END UP REPLACING THE BATTERY AGAIN BUT THE FACT THAT IF YOUR CAR IS TURNED OFF AND DOORS ARE OPEN FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME THE DRAW COMING OFF THE BATTERY IS NOT ENOUGH TO START THE CAR AGAIN LEAVING YOU ONCE AGAIN STRANDED.

BATTERY KEEPS GOING DEAD. I HAVE HAD TO JUMP THIS 10-MONTH OLD CAR 4 TIMES IN THE PAST MONTH. I DO NOT WANT TO DRIVE IT AS I MAY GET STUCK SOMEWHERE. THE BATTERY GOES FLAT DEAD WITH NO ABILITY TO REMOTELY UNLOCK THE CAR, AND NO WAY TO OPEN THE TAILGATE. *TR
THE FIRST EXPERIENCED THE ISSUE WHEN THE LIFT GATE WAS LEFT OPEN FOR A WHILE THE BATTERY DIED BEFORE THE BATTERY DIED ON THE LIFT GATE WAS LEFT OPEN AND WE COULDN'T OPEN THE LIFTGATE AND THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE LIFT GATE TO OPEN WAS THE UNHOOK THE BATTERY THEN AFTER THE LIFT GATE WAS LEFT OVER WITH WHILE THE BATTERY COMPLETELY DIED THEN FROM THEN ON THE BATTERY CONTINUED TO NOT BE FULLY CHARGED WHEN TO SUBARU THEY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT THE ISSUE REP. *TR
WHEN THE CAR IDLES FOR EVEN SHORT PERIODS OF TIME (5 MINUTES) THE INSIDE OF THE CAR WILL START TO SMELL LIKE FUMES (EXHAUST TYPE SMELL). THIS HAPPENS IN ANY ENVIRONMENT (PARKING LOT, OUR DRIVEWAY, RURAL AREA) WHEN THE CAR IS IN PARK AND STILL RUNNING. RARELY HAVE I SMELLED THE FUMES UPON STARTING THE CAR, ALTHOUGH IT HAS HAPPENED BEFORE. THE PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED IN EVERY SEASON AND WITH THE CAR BLOWING OUT WARM, NEUTRAL, AND AIR CONDITIONED AIR. THIS WAS NOTICED VERY SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR IN SEPTEMBER OF 2018. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN TO THE SUBARU DEALERSHIP THREE TIMES AND THEY HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO FIND THE ISSUE. THE FIRST TIME THEY WERE ABLE TO DETECT THE SMELL BUT FOUND NO PROBLEM TO CORRECT. THE OTHER TWO TIMES THEY SAID THEY WEREN'T ABLE TO REPLICATE THE SMELL EVEN AFTER LEAVING IT ON FOR AN HOUR. I CAN ELICIT THE SMELL EVERY TIME IF I LET IT RUN FOR A FEW MINUTES WHILE PARKED. OTHERS APPEAR TO BE HAVING THIS ISSUE AS WELL AND ARE BEING TOLD THE SAME THING BY THEIR DEALERSHIPS. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS ISSUE AS MY CHILDREN MAY BE AFFECTED WHEN THEY ARE IN THE CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 SUBARU ASCENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED INSIDE OF THE GARAGE, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE CONTACT ASKED HER SON TO JUMP START THE VEHICLE. THE CONTAC'S SON JUMPED THE BATTERY AND THE VEHICLE RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED TWICE PRIOR TO THE VEHICLE BEING DIAGNOSED AT WHITE BEAR SUBARU. THE CONTACT STARTED THE VEHICLE AND DROVE TO WHITE BEAR SUBARU (3505 HIGHWAY 61 N, VADNAIS HEIGHTS, MN 55110) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE BATTERY WAS DEFECTIVE. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 11,000.
AT FREEWAY SPEED, THE BRAKE MAKES NOISE AND VIBRATE WHEN YOU PRESS THE PEDAL LIGHTLY TO REDUCE SPEED, THIS HAPPENS MOSTLY WHEN YOU GO DOWNHILL. BATTERY DRAINS WHEN PARKED INSIDE THE GARAGE OVERNIGHT, REAR GATE DOES NOT LOCK WHEN CLOSED.
