I HAVE REQUIRED 6 JUMPSTARTS IN THE LAST 7 MONTHS. THE VEHICLE IS TWO YEARS OLD.
MY BARELY 2-YEAR CAR CONTINUES TO HAVE ELECTRICAL ISSUES. IT REFUSED TO START FOR THE 4TH OR 5TH TIME OVER THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS... TWICE IN THE PAST WEEK. ONE, PARTICULAR INSTANCE FROM THIS PAST WEEK, I DROVE ABOUT A MILE TO MY LOCAL LIBRARY TO DO CURBSIDE PICKUP. I TURNED OFF MY CAR WHILE I WAITED 2 MINUTES FORTHE LIBRARIANS TO DELIVER MY BOOKS. I HAD MY TWO SMALL CHILDREN IN THE CAR. MY CAR WOULD NOT START BACK UP. I DIDN'T SEE THIS AS A PROBLEM AS A FEW MONTHS AGO I PURCHASED A PORTABLE JUMP STARTER BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN HAVING SO MANY ISSUES WITH MY FAIRLY NEW CAR. WELL, I COULDN'T ACCESS MY JUMPER BECAUSE IT WAS IN MY TRUNK WHICH CAN ONLY BE OPENED WHEN THE CAR HAS POWER. IT, OF COURSE, WAS RAINING, SLEETING AND SNOWING WHILE ALL THIS WAS HAPPENING AND MY CHILDREN WERE SCREAMING AND CRYING. THANKFULLY, ONE OF THE LIBRARIANS HAD NOTICED I WAS HAVING A PROBLEM AND WAS ABLE TO GIVE ME A JUMP. THIS IS PROBABLY THE 4TH OR 5TH INSTANCE IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. HOWEVER, THIS IS THE FIRST TIME WHEN MY CAR WAS STARTED AND THEN WOULDN'T RESTART. USUALLY THE INSTANCE OCCURS IN MY DRIVEWAY. FRUSTRATED, I MADE AN APPOINTMENT AT MY LOCAL SUBARU DEALERSHIP FOR THE FOLLOWING DAY, (FEBRUARY 19) TO SEE WHAT THE HECK WAS GOING ON, THEY SAID THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC AND CAME UP WITH EVERYTHING BEING NORMAL. I WENT HOME AND A FEW HOURS LATER MY FAMILY AND I DECIDED TO TAKE A LONG WEEKEND OUT OF TOWN. THE CAR WAS PACKED, KIDS WERE IN THEIR CARSEATS AND MY CAR WOULD NOT START. PAYING $50K+ FOR A CAR THAT WON'T EVEN START IS BEYOND FRUSTRATING. I KNOW SOMEONE WHO HAS THE SAME CAR AND HAS BEEN HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUES. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR ME OR ANY SUGGESTIONS OF NEXT STEPS I SHOULD TAKE.
MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHILE STATIONARY IN THE DRIVEWAY. WE DID NOT IDENTIFY ANY CRACKS OR CHIPS IN THE WINDSHIELD THAT COULD HAVE CAUSE THIS. THE CRACK STARTED AT THE TOP DRIVER SIDE CORNER OF THE WINDSHIELD.
MY CAR IS 1.5 YEARS OLD AND THE BATTERY DIED IN ME AND LEFT ME STRANDED. CAR STARTED AFTER BEING JUMPED. I USED MY TRICKLE CHARGER AND IT IS TELLING ME THAT BATTERY IS BAD. CAR ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WAS ACTING STRANGE AND NOT TURNING OFF ALL SYSTEMS WHEN CAR WAS TURNED OFF. THIS PROBABLY DRAINED BATTERY.
WINDSHIELD ON MY ASCENT 2019 CRACKED ON DRIVER SIDE WITH NO IMPACT
SEVERAL TIMES OUR 2019 SUBARU ASCENT BATTERY HAS DRAINED DOWN TO LOW LEVELS REQUIRING JUMP STARTS. THIS LAST TIME WAS THIS WINTER AND -15 DEGREES OUTSIDE AND WAS VERY DANGEROUS FOR HER. THE ALTERNATOR DOES NOT SEEM ABLE TO KEEP UP WITH THE LOAD. I HAVE HEARD OF MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. IT SAT OVERNIGHT ON BOTH OCCASIONS.
I PARKED MY CAR AT WORK WITH NOBODY AROUND ME AND NOTHING ABOVE THE CAR. WHEN I GOT OUT OF WORK I SAT IN THE CAR I NOTICED A CRACK ON THE WINDSHIELD APPROXIMATELY HALF A FOOT. I DROVE IT THAT MORNING AND ABSOLUTELY SURE IT WAS NOT THERE. I LOOKED AROUND WHERE I PARKED IF THERE IS ANYTHING THAT COULD POSSIBLY HIT IT AND THERE WAS NOTHING, NONE ON THE GROUND OR ON THE VEHICLE. THE WINDSHIELD JUST SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED EVEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY HOW MUCH MORE IF SOMETHING HIT THE WINDSHIELD ON A HIGHWAY. I ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE TIRES IN ABOUT A YEAR OF USE, I NEVER HAD TO REPLACE MY TIRES THAT SO EARLY ON A BRAND NEW VEHICLLE.
WENT TO BJS TO GET FOOD BATTERY DIED 18K
SMALL CRACK IN WINDSHIELD HAS SPREAD ACROSS ENTIRE WINDSHIELD RAPIDLY. WE DO NOT RECALL WHEN THE SMALL CRACK OCCURRED BUT THE CRACK SPREAD ACROSS THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD IN ROUGHLY TWO WEEKS TIME.
BATTERY DRAINED RAPIDLY WHILE LISTENING TO THE RADIO FOR 15 MINUTES WITH CAR ENGINE NOT RUNNING (STATIONARY). CAR NEEDED TO BE JUMPED.
UNABLE TO START MY SUBARU ASCENT 2019 DUE TO BATTERY ISSUE, FACING THIS ISSUE 2ND TIME. I WAS ABLE TO START MY VEHICLE 3 DAYS AGO AND VEHICLE STATIONARY FOR 3 DAYS IN GARAGE AND TRY TO START TODAY IT DID NOT START START AGAIN IT MAKES LITTLE BIT CRANK SOUND AND THEN NO RESPONSE FROM ENGINE AND HALTED AND MY DASHBOARD DISPLAYED EVERYTHING, TRYED MULTIPLE TIMES NO LUCK FOR ME.
VEHICLE WILL NOT START BECAUSE BATTERY IS DEAD AND REQUIRES A JUMP. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME IT HAS OCCURRED. WE HAVE HAD TO CALL STARLINK TO COME AND JUMP THE BATTERY WHICH RESOLVED THE ISSUE ON 1/25/21, 12/29/20 AND 6/20/20. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW IN MAY 2020. IT IS KEPT IN A GARAGE WHEN NOT IN USE.
55 DEGREE SUNNY DAY IN RURAL VIRGINIA. 2019 SUBARU ASCENT HAS 8214 MILES. DROVE ASCENT ABOUT 4 MILES. STOPPED TO RUN QUICK ERRAND. TWO MINUTES LATER CAR WOULD NOT START. DASH LIGHTS ON, INCLUDING CHECK ENGINE, BATTERY. POWER WINDOWS AND REAR HATCH STILL WORKED. CALLED DEALER-FOLLOWED THEIR INSTRUCTIONS TO TRY STARTING CAR IN PARK, NEUTRAL, ETC. THEY SAID IT SOUNDED LIKE A BATTERY PROBLEM, ADVISED ME TO CALL SUBARU ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. SPOUSE CAME WITH BATTERY CHARGER. CHARGED BATTERY FOR A FEW MINUTES AND CAR STARTED. CHARGED BATTERY OVERNIGHT. SEARCHED ONLINE FOR SUBARU BATTERY PROBLEMS. READ THAT A CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT WAS FILED AGAINST SUBARU OF AMERICA IN 2020 RELATING TO OUTBACK AND ASCENT BATTERY ISSUES. THESE MODELS ARE REPORTEDLY EQUIPPED WITH BATTERIES THAT DRAIN AND DIE. LAWSUIT CONTENDS THAT SUBARU HAS KNOWN ABOUT THESE BATTERY PROBLEMS SINCE 2017, AND HAS ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ABOUT BATTERY DISCHARGING AND DYING AFTER SHORT TRIP DRIVING.
VEHICLE STARTED OFF WITH THE RADIO NOT SAVING CHANNELS. IT WOULD RESET THE RADIO EVERY FEW DAYS. A MESSAGE WOULD COME ON THE DASHBOARD WHICH WOULD SAY THE CAR WILL BE RESTARTED IN A FEW HOURS. AND A LIGHT NOT WORKING. TOOK IN AND THEY SAID IT WAS BATTERY. REPLACED. THEN GOT BACK. WITHIN WEEK OR SO. CAR HAD ALL LIGHTS COMING ON AND OFF ON DASHBOARD. STARTED JUMPING. EVEN DROVE BACKWARDS WHEN PUT IN DRIVE. TOOK IN AND THEY REPLACED TRANSMISSION. WITHIN THE WEEK AFTER GETTING BACK, THE CAR WAS SKIPPING GEARS. ANOTHER TRANSMISSION. THEN BACK IN FOR RADIO NOT SHUTTING OFF WHEN CAR OFF AND LOCKED. WOULD RUN FOR HOURS. ALSO THE TRUNK DOOR WOULD NOT LOCK. TOOK AND THEY SAID IT WAS A SWITCH. RADIO AGAIN STILL RESETTING. RADIO WILL RANDOMLY SHUT OFF AND THEN TURN BACK ON. THE REAR TRUNK WILL LOCK AND THEN NOT UNLOCK. CAR IS STILL DRIVING ROUGH. CLEARLY THE CAR HAS ELECTRICAL ISSUES. IT IS BACK IN NOW.
AT 2 YEARS AND 5 MONTHS OLD (55K MILES, MOSTLY HIGHWAY DRIVEN) THE BATTERY DIES AND I WAS STRANDED WHEN I HAD STOPPED AND PARKED. WOULD NOT START ANYMORE. HAD TO JUMP START CAR AND DRIVE TO DEALERSHIP. SUBARU DEALERSHIP (GILLMAN SUBARU SOUTHWEST, HOUSTON, TX) DID A LOAD TEST AND DETERMINED BATTERY IS DEAD. WOULD NOT REPLACE BATTERY. WANTED TO CHARGE $500 TO REPLACE BATTERY!! WENT TO AUTO ZONE AND HAD IT REPLACED AND INSTALLED FOR UNDER $200!
MY VEHICLE HAS ALWAYS BEEN GARAGE KEPT. APPROXIMATELY 1 MONTH AGO, I WENT TO GET IN MY VEHICLE AND NOTICED THE WINDSHIELD HAD A CRACK (APPROXIMATELY 6') IN THE PASSENGER SIDE. I CONTACTED MY INSURANCE COMPANY WHO ADVISED ME I COULD EITHER PAY THE DEDUCTIBLE ($750.00) OR BETTER YET CONTACT SUBARU, AS THEY'VE HAD NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON SUBARU WINDSHIELDS CRACKING FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I APPLIED WINDSHIELD REPAIR TO PREVENT FURTHER CRACKING, TO NO AVAIL. TWO DAYS LATER, THE CRACK SPREAD OVER TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE. SUBARU'S RESPONSE WAS FOR ME TO BRING IT TO MY LOCAL SUBARU DEALER. WHEN I WENT TO THE SUBARU DEALER THEY INFORMED ME THAT BECAUSE I HAD 51,000 MILES ON MY VEHICLE, SUBARU WOULD NOT REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD AND PROVIDED ME WITH A QUOTE OF OVER $1,300.00. AS I AM RETIRED, MY VEHICLE IS ONLY DRIVEN LOCALLY.
WIFE WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK APPROXIMATELY 09:10 PM(25901 RIVERWOODS RD, METTAWA, IL 60045) NO ONE WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED IN AUTOMOBILE FIRE I-94 1 MILE SOUTH OF ROUTE 176(EXIT 16(/ROCKLAND ROAD). AFTER NO MORE THAN A MINUTE ON THE INTERSTATE, I NOTICED SOME SMOKE AND PULLED IMMEDIATELY OFF TO SIDE OF ROAD AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (AROUND 1.5-2.0 MILES FROM WORK) AND AROUND 5 MIN INTO DRIVE FROM DEPARTURE FROM ADDRESS LISTED ABOVE. WAS FORTUNATE THAT OFFICER M ZAWIEROWSKI WAS DRIVING BY AND ABLE TO ASSIST AND CALLED FIRE DEPARTMENT. WHEN OFFICER STATED WENT BACK TO CAR NOTICED THAT CAR LOCKED UP ALL DOORS AND STATED HOW FORTUNATE YOU (WIFE) WERE ABLE TO ESCAPE. THE ONLY WARNING WAS SMELL AND SMOKE, MINUTE LATER CAR WAS BURNING AND WITHIN SHORT TIME HEAT AND SMOKE WAS SEVERE THAT STATE POLICE CALLED FIRE DEPARTMENT
BATTERY HAS DIED AT LEAST 3-4 TIMES SINCE PURCHASING THE CAR. ALSO ONGOING ISSUES WITH THE RADIO- RADIO HAS STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY BEFORE TWO INSTANCES WHEN THE RADIO DIED. AMPLIFIER HAS BEEN CHANGED IN CAR AND SERVICED MULTIPLE TIMES. ONCE WHILE DRIVING, THE CAR DIED WHILE DRIVING IT AND STEERING LOCKED.
MY BATTERY DRAINS SURPRISINGLY QUICKLY FROM SIMPLE ACTIVITIES LIKE USING THE REAR HATCH DOOR A FEW TIMES BETWEEN STARTS, HAVING THE FRONT LIGHTS ON FOR AS LITTLE AS 15 MINUTES BETWEEN STARTS, AND HAVING THE DOME LIGHTS ON FOR AS LITTLE AS 1 HOUR BETWEEN STARTS. THIS HAS LEFT ME STRANDED MULTIPLE TIMES INCLUDING AT A FOREST CAMPGROUND WITHOUT CELL COVERAGE. I HAVE USED AAA ASSIST MULTIPLE TIMES, AND THE HELP OF STRANGERS. I HAVE ALSO HAD TO PURCHASE A JUMP START BATTERY TO KEEP IN MY CAR. I HAVE ASKED SUBARU TO FIX THE PROBLEM, AND BEEN TOLD SIMPLY THAT MY BATTERY AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS ARE WORKING NORMALLY.
CAR JUST DOESNT START AND NEEDS TO BE JUMPED RANDOMLY, YET DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT COULD FIND NO PROBELMS. ALSO WIERD LAGS, NOISES OCCURING WHILE DRIVING. THIS CAR IS TOO NEW AND HAS 18,000 MILES ON IT, SHOULDNT BE HAVING THESE TYPES OF PROBLEMS. HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE PURCHASE 2019 AND 2020, MOST RECENT JAN 2021 BROUGHT INTO DEALERSHIP SERVICE LARRY MILLER SUBARU BOSIE ID.
MY WINDSHIELD WAS HIT BY SOME SOFT, SMALL DEBRIS AND CRACKED. I LEARNED THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH A LOT OF OWNERS THEREFORE WANTED TO FILE A COMPLAINT. WHILE IT HAPPENE
THE BATTERY DOES NOT STAY CHARGED NOR CAN I GET IT TO CHARGE ABOVE 80%. I STORE HER IN A GARAGE. IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS, THE BATTERY HAS BEEN DEAD (AND REQUIRED A JUMP) 3 TIMES IN 2 WEEKS. I GET UP AND GO INTO THE GARAGE TO START THE VEHICLE AND THE BATTERY IS JUST DEAD. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO TEST THE BATTERY AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. MY CONCLUSION IS THAT IT MUST BE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.
I ALREADY REPLACED THE BATTERY IN LESS THAN 2 YEARS AND LESS THAN 25000 MILES.I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE BATTERY LEVEL IS LESS THAN 12V WHEN I DON'T USE THE CAR FOR AROUND 5 DAYS. TO PREVENT THE BATTERY DRAIN I'VE BEEN CHARGING IT EVERY WEEK OR LESS. I HAVE ALSO AVOIDED USING THE TRUNK BECAUSE IT SEEMS TO DRAIN THE BATTERY FASTER. PARKING THE CAR FOR A DAY AND USING THE TRUNK SEVERAL TIMES DOES BRING THE BATTERY LEVEL TO LESS THAN 12V.
We observed Subaru Ascent 2019 (Limited) car handling poorly over bumpy areas, especially over bumps on turns even at speeds under 40 mph. Car feels as if it is loosing contact with the road. It is also jarring over bumps even while driving straight. In wet conditions, I do not know if I will be able to stop within the proper distance. We took the car to the dealer, that indicated front struts needed replacement. They could not provide an estimate of when struts would be available -- this was over one month ago. I am uncertain if a repair is possible to correct this apparent safety issue.
THE CAR EMITS GAS, PETROL FUMES IN THE CABIN VIA THE VENTS. THE CAR HAS BEEN BROUHGT BACK THO THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO REPAIR THIS. HAVE TAKEN A GAS SENSOR TO THE VENTS AND THE GAS SENSOR PROVES THAT GAS/PETROL FUMES ARE BEING RELEASED INTO THE CABIN AND CAN POTENTIAL CAUSE AFFIXATION. NOTE THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS STATIONARY OR DRIVING
ON 24TH DECEMBER VEHICLE IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY WHINING NOISE OBSERVED AND TRANSMISSION DISENGAGES, RPM INCREASED. IN A FEW SECONDS TRANSMISSION ERROR MESSAGE FLASHED IN CONSOLE, IN ADDITION CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND ALL DRIVER AIDS DISABLED, STRUGGLED TO TAKE CONTROL AND PULL OFF HIGHWAY SAFELY. VEHICLE 20 MONTHS OLD LESS THAN 20,000 MILES. SECOND INSTANCE OF TRANSMISSION FAILING AFTER WUV07 RECALL COMPLETED IN JANUARY 2020. !ST INSTANCE OF TRANSMISSION FAILURE IN CITY STREETS @35MPH SIMILAR BEHAVIOR TRANSMISSION LIGHT, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND DRIVERS AIDS DISABLED, INCORRECTLY DIAGNOSED BY MASTER TECHNICIAN AS VALVE BODY FAILURE AFTER THE WUV07 RECALL THE FUEL EFFICIENCY ALSO DROPPED. A COUPLE OF DAYS PRIOR TO 24TH DECEMBER CONTACTED SUBARU OF AMERICA ABOUT A SHUDDER NOTICED OBSERVED WHILE DRIVING. ENCLOSED IMAGE HAS REPAIRS RELATED TO TRANSMISSION, IN ADDITION DURING THE 2ND REPAIR THE STARTER ALSO FAILED AND STARTER WAS ALSO REPLACED. IN CONCLUSION TWO UNSAFE TRANSMISSION FAILURES IN MOTION AFTER WUV07 RECALL.
HAS A DEFECTIVE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM CAUSING THE BATTERY TO DRAIN PREMATURELY. JUST HAD THE NEW SUBARU BATTERY TESTED AND CHARGED AT ADVANCE AUTO PARTS AND IT WAS BROUGHT UP TO ALMOST A FULL CHARGE. AFTER 4 DAYS OF SHORT TRIPS, BATTERY IS DEAD AGAIN.
AT ONLY 17.6K MILES, THE BATTERY IN MY 2019 SUBARU ASCENT WAS COMPLETELY DRAINED OVERNIGHT, FOR NO LOGICAL REASON. I CALLED SUBARU ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO GIVE ME A JUMP AND I LET IT RUN FOR 33 MINUTES THEN TOOK IT FOR A 10 MIN DRIVE. THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AGAIN THE NEXT MORNING. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY OVERNIGHT AND UNTIL THE 10 MIN DRIVE. DURING THIS TIME THE TAILGATE WOULD PERSISTENTLY BEEP, TRYING TO OPEN.
SEVERAL TIMES, WHEN TRYING TO CLOSE THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW, THE FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW AND THE SUNROOF, THE WINDOW DID NOT CLOSE COMPLETELY AND SUBSEQUENTLY RE-OPENED. IT HAPPENED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AS WELL AS STATIONARY.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? WINDSHIELD How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? CRACKED WINDSHIELD Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? YES Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? NO Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? NO
MY WINDSHIELD HAS BEEN IMPACTED BY OBJECTS FROM THE ROADWAY TWICE AND HAS HAD TO BE REPLACED EACH TIME. THE FIRST INCIDENT WAS IN APRIL 2019, WHEN A CHUNK OF ICE FLEW OFF A VEHICLE AHEAD OF MINE AND NEARLY SHATTERED THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD. THIS WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED. THE REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELD WAS IMPACTED BY A SMALL ROAD ROCK WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE IN DECEMBER 2020, RESULTING IN A GOLF BALL-SIZED PUNCTURE DOWN TO THE ADHESIVE SHEET. EVEN THE SAFELITE TECH REMARKED AT THE LEVEL OF DAMAGE AND WAS UNABLE TO SALVAGE THE WINDSHIELD. I HAVE NEVER SEEN A ROAD ROCK CAUSE THAT MUCH DAMAGE TO A WINDSHIELD, AND I DON'T THINK THERE'S EVER BEEN A VEHICLE I'VE OWNED THAT HASN'T TAKEN A ROCK AT ONE POINT OR ANOTHER. IT'S UNAVOIDABLE. WHAT IS NOT UNAVOIDABLE IS THE CLEARLY DEFECTIVE NATURE OF THESE WINDSHIELDS. I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE BEHIND THE WHEEL. THAT WINDSHIELD WILL PROTECT NOTHING IN A HIGH-IMPACT SITUATION.
THE VEHICLE HAS HAD A DEAD BATTERY ON AT LEAST TWO OCCASIONS IN THE PAST YEAR INCLUDING THIS MORNING (12/04/2020), AND THE VEHICLE IS STILL LESS THAN TWO YEARS OLD, AND ONLY HAS APPROXIMATELY 10,000 MILES.
ON 4 OCCASSIONS THE LIFTGATE OF THIS SUV WAS LEFT UP FOR 45 MINUTES TO 1.5 HOURS WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND STATIONARY. ON EACH TIME THE BATTERY DISCHARGED TO A POINT THE CAR WOULD NOT START. FORTUNATELY WE HAD CELL SERVICE AND COULD SUMMOND HELP, BUT THIS COULD OCCUR WHERE THERE IS NO CELL SERVICE AND LEAVE US COMPLETELY STRANDED. AFTER THE FIRST 3 TIMNES WHICH HAPPENED IN RAPID SUCCESSION I TOOK THE SUBARU ASCENT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE BATTERY HAD A WEAK CELL AND THEY REPLACED IT WITHOUT CHARGE. THE REPAIR INVOICE IS ATTACHED. BUT THEY NEVER TOLD ME THAT LEAVING THE LIFTGATE UP MORE THAN 30 MINUTES WOULD CAUSE THIS PROBLEM AND LEAVE ME STRANDED. THEN WHEN THE PROBLE OCCURRED AGAIN I WENT ONLINE AND DISCOVERED THIS IS A WIDELY-KNOWN DEFECT IN THE SUBARU ASCENT AND OTHER SUBARU MODELS THAT HAS STRANDED THOUSANDS OF OWNERS. OWNERS TAKE THEIR SUVS ON CAMPING OR FISHING TRIPS AND TAILGATING AT EVENTS WHERE THEY LEAVE THE LIFTGATE UP WITHOUT REALIZING THE CAR IS UNLIKELY TO START WHEN THEY WANT TO LEAVE. BUT SUBARU IS REFUSING TO CONSIDER A FIX AND RECALL THESE SUVS. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF ANOTHER VEHICLE WITH THIS DEFECT OR PROBLEM. MANY OWNERS ARE SPENDING $250 OR MORE FOR AFTER-MARKET BATTERIES THAT ARE MUCH STRONGER THAN THE WEAK BATTERIES THAT SUBARU PROVIDES. WHILE THIS DOES NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND SUCH OWNERS CAN STILL BE STRANDED, AT LEAST WITH A STRONGER BATTERY THE CHANCES IT WILL START ARE MUCH BETTER. SUPPOSEDLY THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FILED IN NEW JERSEY AGAINST SUBARU OVER THIS ISSUE, BUT THAT WILL ONLY REWARD THE ATTORNEYS INVOLVED WITH MILLIONS OF DOLLARS AND PROBABLY NET ME $20 IN 5 YEARS. PLEASE CONSIDER FORCING SUBARU TO FIND A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM AND RECALL AND FIX ALL SUBARU ASCENTS STILL ON THE ROAD.
CAR DIED AND WOULD NOT START AT ONE YEAR OLD, DIAGNOSED AS FAULTY BATTERY 11/2019; ALMOST EXACTLY ONE YEAR LATER AT MD OFFICE WOULD NOT START AND LIGHTS FLICKERED AND NO CONTROL, WOULD NOT START AGAIN! ; NOW SITTING IN PARKING LOT WAITING TOW; BELIEVE FAULT IS RELATED TO BATTERY DRAIN IN ONE YEAR AND ELECTRICAL DRAIN; LEFT STRANDED WITH TWO KIDS GETTING COVID TESTED WITH A BRAND NEW 2 YEAR OLD CAR WITH 20,000 MILES ONLY!!!!!!!
THE ENGINE KEEPS STUTTERING WHEN DRIVING AND SLOWING DOWN TO STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. COUPLE OF TIMES, IT SHOULD SHUT DOWN AND I HAVE TO RESTART THE CAR. I DO ENSURE THE CAR IS WARMED UP TO A MINIMUM OF 7-10 MINUTES BEFORE STARTING. IT ONLY STARTED RECENTLY BUT I AM WORRIED THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN MORE AND SUDDENLY STOP WHEN DRIVING AND ME GETTING INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT.
BATTERY DRAINS AND UNEXPECTEDLY. HAPPENED TWICE WHILE LIFTGATE WAS UP; HAPPED 3X FOR NO OBVIOUS REASON.
My vehicle smokes when starting it. A lot of white smoke that can fill a parking lot. The smoke has a strong chemical smell.

BRAKES SHOOK VIOLENTLY AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND WHILE DESCENDING MOUNTAIN. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY SAID THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE. HAD TO REPLACE BRAKES AND ROTORS ON ALL 4 WHEELS. ASCENT HAD ONLY 7600 MILES. VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND RETROFITTED WITH NEW BRAKES/ROTORS THAT CAN HANDLE THE DEMANDS/WEIGHT OF THE ASCENT.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE DRIVING ON A SMOOTH PAVED STREET. CRACK EXPANDED TO OVER 18 INCHES LONG. HAD TO HAVE WINDSHIELD REPLACED.
THE CAR CAUGHT FIRE WHILE SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY (STATIONARY). THE CAR WAS HAVING ELECTRICAL/BATTERY ISSUES IN THE MORNING. I CHARGED THE BATTERY, THEN STARTED THE CAR AND LEFT IT RUNNING IN THE DRIVEWAY, WHEN I CAME OUT OF THE HOUSE, THE ENGINE OF THE CAR WAS ON FIRE. I CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO PUT THE FIRE. THE FIRE MARSHAL DETERMINED THAT AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE IGNITED THE ENGINE. AFTER POSTING THE PHOTOS OF THE FIRE ON FACEBOOK, WE RECEIVED MULTIPLE COMMENTS THAT OTHER PEOPLE'S SUBARU'S HAVE HAD BATTERY/ELECTRICAL ISSUES. THE INSURANCE COMPANY STATED THAT THEY WOULD HAVE A SPECIALIST EXAMINE THE VEHICLE TO HELP DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE.

I HAVE ABOUT 7000 MILES AND MY BATTERY HAS BEEN DIEING AND NEEDING A JUMP START. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER IN APRIL AND NO ISSUES WERE REPORTED BY THE DEALERSHIP. THE PROBLEM HAPPENED 2 DAYS BACK AND AGAIN I HAD TO JUMPSTART AND DROVE THE VEHICLE FOR 5 MINUTES. BUT THE CAR WOULD AGAIN NOT START 30 MINUTES LATER AND NEEDED YET ANOTHER JUMP START. I HAVE A FOLLOW UP APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER AND THE BATTERY PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE COMMON IN MANY SUBARUS AS ASSESSED BY ONLINE FORUMS.
BATTERY DEAD EVEN THOUGH CAR HAS BEEN IN GARAGE AND DRIVEN AT LEAST 2-3X A WEEK. HAPPENED A FEW TIMES SINCE THE FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED IN OCT 2020, AND THEN SUBSEQUENTLY MULTIPLE TIMES WHERE WE NEED IT TO BE JUMPED START. EVENTUALLY TOOK TO DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY IN MAR 2021.
BATTERY FREQUENTLY DIES OVERNIGHT. I'LL GET IN THE CAR THE NEXT MORNING TO TAKE MY KIDS TO SCHOOL AND GO TO WORK AND BATTERY IS DEAD FOR NO REASON. NO LIGHTS LEFT ON OR DOORS OPEN. VEHICLE IS STATIONARY. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 6 TIMES OVER 2 YEARS.
AT ABOUT 13,000 MILES THE VEHICLE SHOWED SYMPTOMS OF WARPED FRONT ROTORS. THEY WERE MACHINED SMOOTH. AT 21,000 MILES THE SYMPTOMS RETURNED AND THIS TIME THEY FRONT ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE NOW HAS 32,000 MILES AND IS PRESENTING WITH THE SAME SYMPTOMS. THE SYMPTOMS ARE: SHAKING WHEN BRAKING AND A NOTICEABLY DELAYED STOPPING TIME.
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS ASCENT'S WINDSHIELD HAS CRACKED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE FIRST TIME WAS WITHIN 60 DAYS OF PURCHASE; IT WAS REPLACED WITH A OEM WINDSHIELD BY SUBARU. THERE WAS NO OBSERVED OBJECT IMPACT IN EITHER CASE. THE ATTACHED PHOTO IS OF THE SECOND CRACK WHICH WAS NOTICED TODAY.
MY FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED (ACCORDING TO THE DEALER) BASED ON THE MOST RECENT RECALL. HOWEVER NOW IT IDLES AND RUNS ROUGH JUST A SHORT TIME AFTER THIS SERVICE. I RECENTLY READ THERE IS ANOTHER LAWSUIT OR ISSUE WITH THIS FUEL PUMP AND THE SYMPTOMS ARE THE SAME.

Additionally, immediately after starting the vehicle, there was a loud ticking sound coming from the exhaust system. The vehicle was inspected by the local dealer, and it was determined that the exhaust manifold lines were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 120,000.
I BOUGHT THE CAR IN OCT 2018. FROM THAT TIME UNTIL TO END OF 2019 I HAD A COUPLE OF CASES OF BATTERY DISCHARGE THAT I DID NOT TAKE SERIOUSLY THINKING THAT IT WAS ME LEFT LIGHTS ON OVERNIGHT OR KIND OF. 12/29/2019 THE CAR DID NOT START AT A GROCERY SHOP. I HAD TO CALL UBER FOR MY FAMILY AND SPEND 3 HOURS IN THE COLD CAR IN FREEZING TEMPERATURE WAITING FOR THE ROADSIDE ASSIST SERVICE. EVENTUALLY THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM BUT CHANGED THE BATTERY. AFTER THAT I BOUGHT A JUMP STARTER THAT I HAD TO USE IT MANY TIMES DURING 2020. IN OCT 2020 WHEN I FOUND OUT THAT THE BATTERY WAS DEAD IN THE MORNING JUST ANOTHER TIME I GOT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN. THAY TESTED EVERYTHING AND SAID THAT THE CAR AND THE BATTERY ARE OK. I FIND THE SITUATION UNACCEPTABLE. IT'S NOT A MINOR. JUST IMAGINE THAT YOU CAN FIND YOURSELF IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE WITH KIDS ON BOARD OUT OF REACH OF CELLULAR NETWORK IN A DEAD CAR. IF THE TEMPERATURE IS FREEZING YOU ARE IN A SERIOUS TROUBLE. RECENTLY I'VE FOUND OUT THAT IT'S NOT MY CAR ONLY. A FRIEND OF MINE OWNS OUTBACK 2017 THAT HAS A SIMILAR PROBLEM. THE INTERNET IS FULL OF STORIES ABOUT DEAD BATTERIES IN OUTBACKS AND ASSENTS. IT'S SAD THAT SUBARU DOESN'T ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM. THEY MUST INVESTIGATE AND OPEN A RECALL TO FIX IT.
