MY WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED WITHIN THE FIRST 30 DAYS OF PURCHASING MY BRAND NEW 2020 SUBARU FORESTER WITH NOTHING IMPACTING IT. I WAS DRIVING WITH NO OTHER CARS ON THE ROAD, MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN ON A WELL PAVED ROAD ON A ROUTE I HAVE DRIVEN FOR YEARS WITH NO PROBLEMS. NOW THERE IS A LARGE BREAK IN GLASS RUNNING ACROSS THE MIDDLE OF MY WINDSHIELD. I EVEN TOOK IT TO SUBARU AND A SERVICE TECHNICIAN SAID HE COULD NOT FIND A PLACE OF IMPACT. WHEN I MAKE A TURN NOW I CAN HEAR THE GLASS BEING STRESSED FROM THE TURN.
A CRACK/CHIP APPEARED AT THE LOWER DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD. I ONLY HAVE A LITTLE OVER 4,000 MILES AND BARELY DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY. THE FIRST I NOTICED IT WAS OCTOBER 14, 2020 WHILE BACKING OUT OF MY GARAGE.
MY WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A SUDDEN, AND LARGE CRACK FOR NO APPARENT REASON, NOTHING ABNORMAL HAD HIT THE WINDSHIELD SINCE BUYING THE CAR. IT WAS PARKED IN MY PRIVATE CARPORT WITH NO CRACK, AND 20 MINUTES LATER WHEN I NEXT GOT IN MY CAR THERE WAS A VERY LARGE CRACK.
CRACKED WINDSHIELD
I RECEIVED A CHIP IN THE WINDSHIELD MY 2020 SUBARU FORESTER ON OCTOBER 8, 2020. IT OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE. IT APPEARED SUDDENLY IN MY FIELD OF VIEW BUT I DIDN'T SEE OR EXPERIENCE ANYTHING THAT COULD HAVE IMPACTED THE WINDSHIELD OR CAUSED THE CHIP. A PROFESSIONAL WINDSHIELD REPAIR COMPANY ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR THE CHIP THE NEXT DAY, BUT IN THE PROCESS, CAUSED A LARGE CRACK TO SPREAD ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. THE WINDSHIELD WAS THEN REPLACED AT A SUBARU DEALERSHIP ON 10/28/20. I HAVE ATTACHED A DOCUMENT OF THE WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT WORK DONE. ON 12/22/20 A CHIP APPEARED ON THE NEW WINDSHIELD WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE. THEN ON 3/7/20 A LARGE CRACK IN A DIFFERENT LOCATION APPEARED AND SPREAD ACROSS MY FIELD OF VIEW. I HAVE ATTACHED PHOTOS OF THE CHIP AND THE LARGE CRACK ON THE NEWLY REPLACED WINDSHIELD. I WILL NOW NEED TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD A SECOND TIME. THIS WILL BE MY 3RD WINDSHIELD ON THIS VEHICLE AND IT IS ONLY 1 YEAR OLD. EVEN WITH A NEW WINDSHIELD, FROM MY EXPERIENCE SO FAR, THE CHANCES OF MY FIELD OF VIEW BEING IMPACTED SUDDENLY BY CHIPS AND CRACKS WHILE DRIVING IS VERY HIGH. THE CAUSE OF THE CRACKS APPEARS TO BE DEFECTIVE GLASS USED BY SUBARU FOR THE WINDSHIELD.
ON THE MORNING OF OCTOBER 1, 2020, I PULLED THE CAR OUT OF MY GARAGE. I WAS THE ONLY OCCUPANT,. THE CAR WAS PARKED FACING THE WALL, ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE GARAGE DOOR, AND I HAD TO BACK OUT OF THE GARAGE INTO MY DRIVEWAY, PUTTING THE CAR IN REVERSE. I THEN HAD TO TURN RIGHT, INTO MY DRIVEWAY LEADING TO THE STREET. AFTER I SHIFTED THE GEAR FROM REVERSE INTO DRIVE, THE CAR STARTED MOVING FORWARD SPONTANEOUSLY, AND I WAS UNABLE TO STOP IT, NOR STEER THE STEERING WHEEL. MY RIGHT FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT I WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE BRAKE PEDAL FELT HARD AND WOULD NOT GO DOWN. I FOUND THE CAR GOING FORWARDS TOWARDS THE GARAGE, BUT SLIGHTLY TO THE RIGHT OF THE OPEN GARAGE DOOR. I WAS ALSO NOT ABLE TO TURN THE CAR WITH THE STEERING WHEEL, WHICH WAS ALSO STIFF. I WAS FULLY AWARE OF THE FAILURE, AND MY INABILITY TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE, WITH THE CAR GOING TOWARDS MY HOUSE, AND THE BRAKE NOT BEING EFFECTIVE. MY WIFE,[XXX]WHO WAS AT THE DOOR, WAS WATCHING AND HELPLESS. THE CAR THEN HIT THE PILLAR/ POST, BETWEEN MY GARAGE DOORS AND STOPPED, HITTING THE RIGHT SIDE, OF THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE INTO THE GARAGE POST. I NOTIFIED MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND DROVE THE CAR TO SUBARU'S SERVICE CENTER, AND HAS SINCE LEFT THE CAR THERE. I HAD MET EXPERIENCED A SIMILAR SITUATION ABOUT 2-3 DAYS EARLIER. AT THAT TIME, I DID NOT THINK MUCH OF IT. THE CAR IS WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF [XXX], SUBARU DEALER, AND THE SERVICE MANAGER, CAN EXPLAIN THE DAMAGES TO THE CAR, AS IT HAS BEEN WITH THEM SINCE THE INCIDENT. MY WIFE WAS STANDING AT THE DOOR AND WITNESSED THE INCIDENT. THE INVESTIGATION WAS THEN HANDED OVER TO SUBARU AMERICA , WHO FURTHER FORWARDED IT TO BOSCH ENGINEERING. SUBARU AMERICA NOW WANTS TO ME TAKE THE CAR WITHOUT EXPLANATION FOR THE FAILURE. I HAVE REQUESTED A COPY OF THE REPORT, WHICH SUBARU HAS DENIED . I have owned several cars in the past but my Subaru Forester’s windshield cracked within the first year. I now have 3 cracks in my windshield and I havent even had it for 2 years. I even spoke with my local Subaru dealership and they even say the windshields crack more then they should.
The contact owns a 2020 Subaru Forester. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond. The vehicle stalled and then went into sleep mode. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after several attempts. There were several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle also experienced failures with the electrical system. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where the contact was informed that the vehicle was operating as designed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 1,300.
I HAVE HAD 3 CRACKED WINDSHIELD ON MY 2019 AND 2020 SUBARU FORESTER, ALL 3 HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY.
A SMALL, APPROXIMATELY 3" CRACK APPEARED ON LOWER DRIVER SIDE OF WINDSHIELD WITH NO APPARENT IMPACT AT THAT TIME. VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND THE CRACKED WAS NOTICED IN THE EVENING. CONTACTED SUBARU WHO DIRECTED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR EVALUATION. WHILE WAITING FOR EVALUATION (SEVERAL WEEKS), THE CRACK CONTINUED TO GROW TO APPROXIMATELY 18". SUBARU DETERMINED AN IMPACT CAUSED THE CRACK, THOUGH THE ONLY POSSIBLE IMPACT SITE WAS APPROXIMATELY 1/16" IN DIAMETER. VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED ONE MONTH PRIOR.
ON SEPTEMBER 26, 2020, MY 2020 SUBARU FORESTER WINDSHIELD WAS HIT BY SOME VERY SMALL OBJECT THAT HARDLY MADE A SOUND WHEN IT STRUCK. THE RESULT WAS A VERY SMALL CRACK ABOUT AN INCH LONG. I HAD THIS REPAIRED BY SAFELITE MOBILE SERVICE ON SEPT. 30 ON APRIL 6, 2021 AS THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN IN TOWN, AN APPROXIMATELY 15 INCH CRACK APPEARED ON THE WINDSHIELD. THIS CRACK RUNS FROM THE VERY BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD UP THROUGH THE REPAIRED "CHIP" MENTIONED ABOVE AND ON FOR ANOTHER 12 INCHES OR SO. THERE WAS NOTHING TO STRIKE THE WINDSHIELD THIS DAY. I CONTACTED THE RAMSEY SUBARU DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR AND WAS TOLD BECAUSE THERE WAS THAT INITIAL CHIP, THE SUBARU WARRANTY WOULD NOT COVER THE CRACKED WINDSHIELD. I CONTACTED THE SAFELITE OFFICE NEAREST ME THAT HAD REPAIRED THE CHIP IN SEPTEMBER AND THEY SCHEDULED ME TO HAVE THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED ON MONDAY, APRIL 12 AT 12:30 PM. I DID PHONE THE DEALERSHIP ON FRIDAY, APRIL 9 TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE ABOUT THIS SITUATION. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS WITH NO ONE ANSWERING THE PHONE, I LEFT A MESSAGE TO CONTACT ME. I HAVE NOT YET RECEIVED A RESPONSE OF ANY KIND. I PLAN TO VISIT THE DEALERSHIP MONDAY MORNING APRIL 12 TO APPEAL MY ORAL DECISION. IF I AM SUCCESSFUL IN THAT, I WILL AMEND THIS REPORT.
NO ROCK DENTS OR ANYTHING AND I CAME OUT ONE MORNING AND A HUGE CRACK APPEARING TO START FROM THE BOTTOM LEFT AND GOING ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD OUT OF NOWHERE. NO ROCK DAMAGE NOTHING JUST A RANDOM CRACK FROM NOWHERE. IT WAS PARKED ALL NIGHT.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED WITH JUST A SMALL ROCK HITTING IT. THERE IS NOW ANOTHER CRACK ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHEN IT GOT THERE. THE WINDSHIELD SOUNDS VERY BRITTLE WHEN THE SMALLEST THING HITS IT. THE WINDSHIELDS ARE DEFECTIVE, I HAVE FRIENDS THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE THE EYESIGHT TECHNOLOGY, SO REPLACEENT IS VERY EXPENSIVE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2020 SUBARU FORESTER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING HE NOTICED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKING FROM RIGHT TO LEFT STARTING ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CRACK WAS ABOUT A THIRD OF THE WAY ON THE WINDSHIELD AND CURVED UPWARD TOWARD THE TOP. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 968.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2020 SUBARU FORESTER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50-55 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD AND ABNORMAL CRACKING SOUND. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD FRACTURED ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE NEAR THE LOWER CORNER OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT CONTACTED GRAND PRIX SUBARU (500 S. BROADWAY, HICKSVILLE, NY 11801; (516) 336-4711) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE WINDSHIELD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BY THE MANUFACTURER OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000.
I HAVE OWNED MY BRAND NEW 2020 FORESTER FOR 6 WEEKS. AS I WAS BACKING MY CAR INTO A PARKING SPOT AT WORK (IT WAS RAINING), I SAW WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A RAIN STREAK APPEARING - STARTED ON THE LOWER LEFT OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDSHIELD - I WATCHED AS IT GREW TO A 16-18 INCH CRACK! NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING HIT THE WINDSHIELD. TRAFFIC WAS SLOWER THAN USUAL BECAUSE OF THE RAIN AND AFTER EXITING THE HIGHWAY, THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC ON THE LESS THAN 5 MINUTE TRIP TO MY WORKPLACE. I FELT NOTHING ON THE INSIDE AND THE OUTSIDE WAS SMOOTH, AT FIRST. SINCE IT WAS RAINING FAIRLY HARD - I CAME OUT 30 MINUTES LATER AND NOT ONLY HAD THE CRACK GROWN IN LENGTH - THE CRACK HAD WIDENED ENOUGH THAT I COULD FEEL IT! WHEN I GOT BACK TO MY COMPUTER - I GOOGLED AND FOUND HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR EXPERIENCES WITH THE FORESTER WINDSHIELDS. I AM SO ANGRY - I WOULD HAVE NEVER BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE HAD I KNOWN ABOUT THE WINDSHIELD ISSUES. I'M TAKING IT TO THE DEALER TOMORROW. IT BETTER GET FIXED - OR I WILL PURSUE LEGAL ACTION AGAINST SUBARU. I JUST MADE MY FIRST CAR PAYMENT!!
WINDSHIELD CRACKING: I HAVE 7K MILES ON MY 2020 FORESTER AND HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD TWICE ALREADY WITHIN 2 MONTHS OF EACH OTHER. THE FIRST TIME I'M NOT EVEN SURE IF I WAS HIT BY ANYTHING. I HAD BEEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY FOR A COUPLE HOURS AND I PARKED IT IN MY DRIVEWAY. WHEN I CAME OUT AN HOUR LATER THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED LEFT TO RIGHT. THE SECOND TIME WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, I WAS HIT BY A VERY SMALL PEBBLE THAT LEFT THE TINIEST OF NICKS - INITIALLY BARELY EVEN VISIBLE. WITHIN AN HOUR IT STRETCHED ACROSS THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD. I LIVE IN AZ - IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN OCCASIONALLY. BUT ALL MY OTHER CARS OVER THE YEARS HAD LOTS OF TINY AND NOT-SO-TINY NICKS FROM SMALL ROCKS THAT NEVER SPREAD OUT AT ALL. THE WINDSHIELD ON MY PRIOR 2014 FORESTER WITH 90K MILES ON IT ONLY HAD TO BE REPLACED TWICE IN 6 YEARS. IN BOTH CASES I WAS HIT BY LARGER PEPPLES THAT LEFT SIGNIFICANT (LIKE 1/2 INCH) SPIDER NICKS. I AM CONVINCED THERE IS SOMETHING GOING ON WITH THE 2020 FORESTER WINDSHIELD - MAYBE THE PITCH OR A MANUFACTURING/DESIGN ISSUE. BUT THIS IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS AND A REAL INCONVENIENCE. IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN SOON, I WILL TRADE IT IN. IT'S A SHAME BECAUSE I LOVE THIS VEHICLE OTHERWISE. MY COUSIN IN CA BTW HAS HAD TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD IN HIS 2019 FORESTER FOUR TIMES IN 17K MILES.
VEHICLE HAS SOME ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH THE TPMS THAT LESS THAN A YEAR IN, ONE OF THEM IS SEEMS TO BE GOING OUT. THEE HEAD UNIT (INFOTAINMENT SYS) ALSO HAD CONNECTION ISSUE THAT WAS AWARE AND KNOWN BY SUBURA DEALER REP WHEN CALLED AND AS TO BRING IN FOR MAINTENANCE. BLINDS POT MONITOR ON THE RIGHT HAS TENDENCY TO NOT FLASH OR ALERT EVERY SO OFTEN.
MY SUBARU HAS 8K MILES ON IT. WAS DRIVING DOWN ROUTE 81 DOING 65MPH WITH NO VEHICLES AROUND ME. HIT A SEEM, NOT A BUMP BUT A SEEM IN THE HIGHWAY AND MY WINDSHIELD NOW HAS A 6' STRESS CRACK WHICH STARTED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD. NO CHIP IN GLASS AND THERE WERE NO CARS NEAR ME AT ALL. AND THE PICTURE I SUBMITTED HAS THE CRACK. THERE'S ONE SPOT TO THE LEFT OF IT AND THAT IS SAP NOT A CHIP.
ONE DAY I LOOKED UP AT MY WINDSHIELD AND THERE IS A SCRATCH/CRACK VISIBLE ON THE INSIDE. NOTHING HIT IT.
WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, A PEBBLE HIT THE WINDSHIELD. THIS EXTENDED TO A 6-INCH CRACK IN THE DRIVE HOME. THE CRACK EXTENDED TO A 1.5-FOOT CRACK OVERNIGHT.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2020 SUBARU FORESTER AND JUST BEGINNING TO ACCELERATE TRAVELING ABOUT 35 MPH IN THE LEFT LANE OF A STRAIGHT TWO LANE ENTRANCE RAMP TO A HIGHWAY. IN THE RIGHT LANE AND IN FRONT OF ME WAS A TRUCK PULLING A TRAILER WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE TRAILER TRAVELING AT ABOUT THE SAME SPEED. THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED ON A CLEAR DAY AROUND 3:00PM IN SEPTEMBER. THE TRUCK WITH TRAILER IN FRONT OF ME KICKED UP A FEW ROAD PEBBLES. BY THE SOUNDS OF THE PEBBLES HITTING THE UNDERSIDE OF THE TRAILER, I COULD TELL THAT THEY WERE SMALL CHIPS OF STONE. THEN, I HEARD ONE OF THEM PING ON MY WINDSHIELD AND IMMEDIATELY SAW A DIAGONAL CRACK (FROM LEFT TO RIGHT) THAT BEGAN UNDER THE RUBBER AROUND THE WINDSHIELD AND EXTENDED DOWN ABOUT 20 INCHES IN FRONT OF ME. THERE WAS NO SPIDER WEBBING OF THE GLASS AND NO VISIBLE POCK MARK WHERE THE PEBBLE MAY HAVE HIT. I COMPLETED MY TRIP HOME AND HAD THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED AND THE FRONT RADAR RECALIBRATED AS SOON AS PARTS AND SERVICE WERE AVAILABLE. I HAVE OWNED AT LEAST 7 CARS (MOST OF THEM OLDER MODELS) THROUGHOUT MY LIFE AND HAVE EVEN HAD SOME OF THOSE CARS HIT BY PEBBLES AND STONES KICKED UP BY OTHER VEHICLES. I HAVE NEVER HAD A WINDSHIELD CRACK IN ALL THAT TIME. MY RECENT INCIDENT WITH MY SUBARU HAPPENED WHEN THIS VEHICLE WAS ONLY 11 MONTHS OLD!!! I DO NOT FEEL THAT A SMALL PEBBLE WITH VEHICLES TRAVELING AT MODEST SPEED SHOULD HAVE SO EASILY CRACKED THE WINDSHIELD OF MY FORESTER THAT I PURCHASED BASED UPON ITS SAFETY FEATURES, INCLUDING THE EYESIGHT DRIVER ASSIST TECHNOLOGY WHICH WAS COMPROMISED BY THIS CRACK. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED TOO EASILY IN THIS LESS THAN A YEAR OLD VEHICLE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED WITH IN A COUPLE OF MONTHS OF PURCHASING THE VEHICLE AND THAT THE CRACK EXTENDED THROUGHOUT THE LENGTH OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOB ROHRMAN SUBARU (1600 S CREASY LN, LAFAYETTE, IN 47905) AND WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO SAFELITE AUTO GLASS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SAFELITE AUTO GLASS AND WAS TEMPORARILY REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FIX WAS NOT PERMANENT AND THAT THE CRACK COULD SPREAD. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 7,900. *LN*JB*DT*JB
WHILE SITTING STATIONARY IN PARKING LOT MY WINDSHIELD SUDDENLY WENT "POP!" AND THEN A CRACK STARTED RUNNING DOWN MY WINDSHIELD FROM THE TOP ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I SAW NO REASON FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. I PURCHASED IT 1 WEEK AGO BRAND NEW.
THE CAR WAS PARKED AS I WAS WALKING UP TO IT THERE WAS A CRACK IN MY WINDSHIELD. I WAS WALKING TO MY CAR AND NOTICED A GLARE WALKING UP AND LOOKED CLOSER AND THERE WAS A CRACKING MY WINDSHIELD
The battery on my 2020 Subaru Forester Premium /LFF14 drains within a week if not driven. There appears to be a parasitic battery drain problem. The car will not start. I replaced the original factory battery with a larger, after-market battery having been told by several sources that this problem is common to Foresters and is caused by defective batteries being supplied to Subaru. However, the new battery did not solve the problem. I regularly test the battery with a battery tester that indicates that the battery is OK, but is discharged and requires charging. I now keep a trickle charger on the car continuously. This seems to keep the battery charge up to 98%. I have retained the original battery which holds a charge indefinitely out of the vehicle. I am aware that driving the car to recharge the battery is extremely hard on the alternator and will cause it to prematurely fail. The car was purchased in August of 2020 and currently has less than 500 miles. This is a recurrent problem.
I HAVE HAD MY SUBARU FORESTER 2020 FOR ONLY 8 MONTHS AND THERE IS ALREADY A CRACK ON MY WINDSHIELD FROM A SMALL ROCK HITTING MY WINDSHIELD. THE ROCK WAS TINY AND IT CREATED A 18IN CRACK ON MY WINDSHIELD.
AN OBJECT HIT MY WINDSHIELD AND SEVERAL MINUTES AFTERWARDS, MY WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED. I WAS DRIVING ALONG THE ENTRANCE RAMP TO INTERSTATE 35E-SOUTH IN MINNESOTA.
My 3rd windshield needs to be replaced for cracking clear across. The first one shattered after a pine one fell from a tree and completely shattered the glass. Employer paid 1,000 (see pic)The next was hit by small pebbles and it instantly cracked one half of windshield. Insurance paid with 500 deductible. This time I heard a pop and a crack appeared from the bottom and continued to crack all the way across with several cracks starting from the original crack. An estimate of 1,000to fix it.
I WAS DRIVING AT 20 MPH ON CITY STREETS WHEN A SMALL ROCK HIT THE LOWER PART OF WINDSHIELD. NORMALLY YOU GET A ROCK CHIP AND YOU HAVE TIME TO SEAL. I HAD ZERO TIME TO GET WINDSHIELD FIXED AS THE WINDSHIELD SPLIT WITHIN A FEW MINUTES. WINDSHIELD SPLITTING SO FAST FOR SUCH A LITTLE ROCK CHIP CAN BE HAZARDOUS.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH, THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED FROM THE EDGE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE ABOUT 8-10 INCHES ACROSS RIGHT IN THE DRIVERS LINE OF VISION. THERE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE A POINT OF IMPACT FROM DEBRIS. THE CRACK HAS SINCE EXTENDED HALF WAY ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD 4 DAYS LATER. I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW AND HAVE OWNED IT ABOUT 7 WEEKS
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, I HEARD A LOUD POP. I LOOKED AROUND AND I NOTICED MY WINDSHIELD HAD A HUGE COMBINATION CRACK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I DIDN'T SEE ANY OBJECT FLY TOWARDS THE CAR OR TRUCKS NEARBY. I WAS DRIVING ON THE 2ND LANE FROM THE RIGHT. IT WAS ABOUT 100 DEGREES F AND 5 MINS BEFORE I HAD TURNED ON THE AC AT THE LOWEST TEMP AND FAN SPEED TO MEDIUM-HIGH.
WHILE DRIVING I HAD A VERY TINY ROCK HIT THE WINDSHIELD(BARELY MADE A NOISE) WITHIN ABOUT 10 SECONDS THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED A GOOD 20 INCHES. AFTER STOPPING AND INSPECTING THE AREA I COULD ONLY FIND A PIN WHOLE AREA WHERE(?)MAYBE SOMETHING HIT THE WINDSHIELD. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN FEB.2020 AND ABOUT A MONTH AFTER OWNING THE CAR THE SALEMAN CALLED ME AND ACTUALLY TOLD ME THEY HAVE BEEN HAVING OR HEARING OF WINDSHILDS CRACKING AND SOME FOR NO REASON. MY DAUGHTER ALSO INFORMED ME THAT SHE HAD SEEN SEVERAL STATEMENTS FROM OTHERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES AND IT APPEARS THERE IS A CLASS ACTION AGAINST SUBARU.
2020 FORESTER. WINDSHIELD CRACKS. WITHIN A YEAR. ONE +1FT LONG CRACK RAN FROM BOTTOM RIGHT HAND CORNER TO MID WINDSHIELD. WINDSHIELD REPLACED. CRACKED AGAIN, THIS TIME ABOUT 18INCH CRACK, STARTING IN LOWER LEFT HAND CORNER OF WINDSCREEN, RAPIDLY RAN INTO MID WINDSCREEN/WINDSHIELD DIRECTLY IN DRIVERS FIELD OF VIEW. THIS IS UNPRECEDENTED IN MY MULTI DECADE DRIVING EXPERIENCE. NEITHER THE OWNER, ME, NOR THE INSURANCE COMPANY SHOULD PAY FOR THIS. AND BECAUSE IT MIGRATES TO MID WINDSHIELD, IT IS A SIGNIFICANT DRIVING DISTRACTION, PARTICULARLY IN SOME SUN CONDITIONS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2020 SUBARU FORESTER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, A HORIZONTAL CRACK FORMED ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE WINDSHIELD AND SPREAD TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CRACK OBSTRUCTED HER VISION WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SUBARU OF BEND (2060 NE HWY 20, BEND, OR 97701) WHERE SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE MECHANIC SUGGESTED THAT THE VEHICLE BE REPAIRED AT AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 3,500.
I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET IN TOWN TODAY, 8/3/2020 WHEN MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I WAS GOING 35MPH. IT CRACKED ON THE DRIVERS SIDE TO THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD IN THE CENTER. I CALLED SUBARU IMMEDIATELY AND WAS INFORMED THAT WINDSHIELDS ARE NOT WARRANTIED. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED IN MARCH 2020. I WAS GIVEN WINDSHIELD REPAIR COMPANIES BY THE LOCAL SUBARU DEALER. I REACHED OUT TO ONE COMPANY AND IM WAITING FOR THEM TO SCHEDULE A TIME AND DATE TO REPLACE MY WINDSHIELD. MY VEHICLE IS DIFFICULT TO DRIVE SINCE THE CRACK IS DIRECTLY IN THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD DIRECTLY AT EYE LEVEL.
I PURCHASED A 2019 SUBARU FORRESTER IN 2019. ABOUT 6 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE, MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHILE I WAS DRIVING, ALONE ON A COUNTRY HIGHWAY. I HAD GEICO COVER THE NEW WINDSHIELD. I PURCHASED A 2020 FORRESTER IN JULY 2020, AND HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN ABOUT 2 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING IT. THE CAR WAS SITTING, ALONE, IN A PARKING RAMP THAT WAS COVERED AT MY HOUSE, WITH NOTHING AROUND IT. I WAS OUT OF MY CAR FOR MAYBE AN HOUR AND CAME BACK AND THE WINDSHIELD HAD CRACKED AGAIN.

THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE CONTACT CALLED FOX MARQUETTE SUBARU LOCATED AT 3825 US 41 WEST, MARQUETTE, MI 49855, WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THE VEHICLE PERFORMED AS DESIGNED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK IN TEN DAYS IF THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500.
WE LEASED THIS CAR FEB 28, 2020. TWO MONTHS LATER WHEN TRAVELING AT 60 MPH WE NOTICED A STAR-SHAPED CRACK ON THE WINDSHIELD WITH NOTHING APPARENTLY HITTING IT. THE WINDSHIELD THEN CRACKED. LESS THAN 3,000 MILES ON THE CAR. WE HAD THE WINDSHILED REPLACED AT OUR EXPENSE. LAST WEEK WHEN TRAVELING 70 MPH A STAR-SHAPED CRACK APPEARED AFTER NOTHING HITTING IT. THE CRACK THEN EXPANDED TWO DIFFERENT TIMES.
VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN COVERED PARKING LOT OUT OF THE SUN. AIR TEMP HIGH 80S. THE WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A CRACK STARTING IN THE TOP MIDDLE DESCENDING TO THE MIDDLE WHERE IT CURVED TOWARDS THE PASSENGER SIDE. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY.
VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON THE STREET OVERNIGHT WITH NO DAMAGE TO THE WINDSHIELD. NEXT MORNING THERE WAS A CRACK FROM THE EDGE OF THE PASSENGER SIDE TO ABOUT A QUARTER OF THE LENGTH OF THE WINDSHIELD. THERE IS NO IMPACT MARKING ON THE WINDSHIELD.
PURCHASED NEW 2020 FORRESTER WITH 25 MILES ON IT MAY 19, 2020. ON JULY 14 I WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY WITH NO VEHICLES CLOSE BY, WHEN WINDSHIELD SUDDENLY POPPED AND CRACKED APPROXIMATELY 12 INCHES ACROSS DRIVER VIEW. NO VISUAL CHIP OR OTHER DAMAGE, BUT CRACK MADE IT DIFFICULT FOR DRIVER TO SEE ESPECIALLY IN SUNLIGHT. CALLED SUBARU DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED THIS IS OFTEN A PROBLEM WITH THE "SMART" WINDSHIELD, AND WAS NOT FAULTY OR COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. WINDSHIELD CONTINUED TO CRACK. DEALERSHIP REPAIRED WINDSHIELD AND CALIBRATED EYE SIGHT ON JULY 23 AT THE COST OF $1416.27. WE HAD GLASS COVERAGE WITH SAFECO INSURANCE, DEALERSHIP COULD NOT FILE INSURANCE CLAIM SO WE PAID FOR COST AND SUBMITTED CLAIM TO SAFECO. SAFECO EVENTUALLY PAID US IN SEPTEMBER AFTER MULTIPLE PHONE CONVERSATIONS AND QUESTIONS, INCLUDING WHETHER THE WINDSHIELD COULD HAVE BEEN FAULTY WHEN PURCHASED.
I PURCHASED A 2020 FORESTER ON 7/11/20 AS A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAD 3955 MILES ON IT AND HAD BEEN USED AS A LOANER BY THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER COMPLETING THE PAPERWORK AND FINALIZING THE SALE, THE SALESPERSON ACCOMPANIED ME TO THE VEHICLE TO EXPLAIN SOME OF THE FEATURES. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, I DISCOVERED A CHIP IN THE WINDSHIELD, EVEN THOUGH THE CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED VEHICLE INSPECTION CHECKLIST INDICATED THE WINDSHIELD HAD BEEN CHECKED AND THERE WERE NO CHIPS OR CRACKS. THE SALESPERSON ARRANGED AN APPOINTMENT FOR ME TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK FOR A REPAIR TO THE WINDSHIELD. AFTER THE REPAIR WAS COMPLETED, THE CHIP WAS STILL OBVIOUS. GIVEN THE CURRENT LAWSUIT CONCERNING SUBARU WINDSHIELD ISSUES, I AM CONCERNED THAT THE CHIP MAY WORSEN.

THE CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED VEHICLE INSPECTION CHECKLIST INDICATES NO CHIPS/CRACKS IN THE WINDSHIELD (FALSE INFORMATION). I AM CONCERNED THAT THE CHIP WILL BECOME LARGER, ESPECIALLY IN LIGHT OF THE CURRENT LAWSUIT REGARDING SUBARU VEHICLES WHICH INCLUDES MY FORESTER.
WINDSHIELD ROCK CHIP. WHILE DRIVING EASTBOUND ON I-90 OUTSIDE OF SEATTLE A ROCK HIT THE WINDSHIELD AND IMMEDIATELY CRACKED IT. THIS IS THE THIRD INCIDENT OF ROCK CHIPS TO THE WINDSHIELD. I HAD PREVIOUSLY HAD TWO CHIPS WITHIN A MONTH OF EACH ONE. I MADE AN INSURANCE CLAIM AFTER THE SECOND CHIP BECAUSE THE WINDSHIELD SPLIT. THIS WAS IN MARCH 2020. THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED AND IS NOW CHIPPED ALREADY/ AGAIN. A COMPLAINT WILL ALSO BE FILED WITH SUBARU AS THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THE WINDSHIELD HAS CHIPPED BETWEEN TWO DIFFERENT WINDSHIELDS. THIS VEHICLE IS NOT EVEN A YEAR OLD YET.
WINDSHIELD HAS CRACKED 2 TIMES.
DRIVING ON A SURFACE STREET AT A CONSTANT SPEED OF ~45 MPH, A SMALL PEBBLE FLEW INTO THE WINDSHIELD AND CREATED A CRACK WHICH FURTHER EXPANDED AS A HAIRLINE CRACK WHICH IMPAIRS VISION THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD AND CAN POTENTIALLY CAUSE PROBLEMS WITH THE EYESIGHT SAFETY FEATURES. AT THIS SPEED, THIS INCIDENT SHOULD NOT CAUSE A CRACK.
DRIVING THE CAR ON THE HIGHWAY FROM A RELATIVES HOUSE, GOING APPROX 65 AND WAS HIT BY SOMETHING SMALL, COULD NOT VERIFY WHAT IT WAS, BUT PRESUME IT WAS A ROCK. UPON IMPACT, IT SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT, WHICH SCARED EVERYONE IN THE CAR. THE DAMAGE TOOK ITS TOLL ON THE WINDSHIELD WHERE IT LEFT A HUGE BASEBALL SIZE BREAK AND A SMALLER BREAK ABOVE IT. THIS IS THE 4TH TIME THIS WINDSHIELD HAS BEEN DAMAGED AND I PURCHASED NEW IN OCTOBER 2019. IT JUST TURNED 6000 MILES AS I JUST HAD THE 6K SERVICE DONE ON IT RECENTLY.
