REPLACING LOW BEAM HEADLAMP BULBS EVERY 15K MILES OR LESS ON THIS VEHICLE. 4TH BULB IN 3 YRS JUST BURNED OUT ON 10/28/15. OCCURS AT RANDOM TIMES - NO PATTERN. DISCONTINUED USING THE HEADLAMP AUTO ON/OFF FEATURE AND STILL NO IMPROVEMENT IN SITUATION. BECOMING A SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO PERIODS OF HAVING TO DRIVE WITH ONE HEADLIGHT. IMPOSSIBLE FOR TYPICAL OWNER TO REPLACE LOW BEAM BULBS ON THEIR OWN DUE TO DIFFICULTY OF ACCESSING HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY.
BOTH RIGHT AND LEFT CYLINDER HEAD GASKETS DEFECTIVE (BLOWN). RIGHT HAND CYLINDER HEAD CRACKED.
THE HEAD GASKETS NEED TO BE REPLACED AT 85,000. THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN AND THE OVERHEAT LIGHT WENT ON. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. TOOK THE CAR INTO SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THAT THE HEAD GASKETS NEED TO BE REPLACED, SHORT BLOCK REPLACED AND OTHER RELATED ENGINE PARTS. A HEAD GASKET ISSUE SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING AT 85K MILES ON ANY CAR, BUT ESPECIALLY A SUBARU WHOSE REPRESENTATION IS ABOUT DEPENDABILITY AND RUGGEDNESS.
CAR STALLS FROM RAPID BRAKING. DEALER REPORTS THE TORQUE CONVERTER IS DEFECTIVE.
TRIED TO OPEN DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR TO EXIT CAR AFTER PARKING. HANDLE MADE A SOMEWHAT DIFFERENT SOUND THAN USUAL, AND FAILED TO OPEN LATCH. LOCKING/UNLOCKING AND MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO OPERATE INSIDE DOOR HANDLE WERE UNSUCCESSFUL IN OPENING THE DOOR. WITH DIFFICULTY, I WAS ABLE TO MOVE INTO PASSENGER SIDE OF FRONT SEAT BY CLIMBING OVER THE CONSOLE AND WAS ABLE TO EXIT THE CARE. WHILE THIS WAS NOT AN EMERGENCY, HAD IT OCCURRED DURING AN EMERGENCY, THE DRIVER LIKELY WOULD HAVE BEEN TRAPPED FOR SEVERAL MINUTES. I TOOK IT IN FOR A REPAIR TODAY, AND SUBARU DEALER CAN'T GET THE PART (CABLE RUNNING BETWEEN INSIDE DOOR HANDLE AND LATCH) FOR 3-4 DAYS. TOLD IT WAS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. WONDERED IF IT MIGHT BE RELATED TO THE 2010 TRIBECA DOOR LATCH PROBLEM WHICH PROMPTED A RECALL. *TR
I RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS CAR USED AND NOTICED THE STEERING WHEEL RADIO CONTROLS DID NOT WORK. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I DISCOVERED THERE WAS ALREADY A RECALL ON THIS CAR AND THIS CAR HAS ALREADY HAD THE RECALL WORK PERFORMED ON IT IN DECEMBER OF 2010. THE AFFECTED PART IS THE STEERING WHEEL ROLL CONNECTOR. THIS PART ALSO ALLOWS FOR THE CONTACT OF OTHER ELECTRICAL SIGNALS FROM THE AIRBAG, CRUISE CONTROL AND PADDLE SHIFTERS TO THE CAR'S COMPUTER. I CALLED SUBARU AND THEY SAID THE RECALL WORK WAS DONE. I PURCHASED THE PART FROM THE SUBARU DEALER AND INSTALLED IT PER THE SERVICE MANUAL INSTRUCTIONS. UPON INSTALLATION OF THE ROLL CONNECTOR AND COMPLETION OF THE TOTAL REPAIR THE STEERING WHEEL RADIO CONTROLS FUNCTIONED AS THEY WERE INTENDED. I THINK THIS IS A CONCERN BECAUSE SUBARU HAS REPLACED A KNOWN DEFECTIVE PART WITH ONE THAT AFTER A LITTLE OVER 4.5 YEARS HAS FAILED AGAIN. ACCORDING TO THE INFORMATION ON THE INITIAL RECALL THE STEERING WHEEL RADIO CONTROLS WERE ONLY THE FIRST SYMPTOM OF THE EVENTUAL TOTAL FAILURE OF ALL THE CONNECTIONS OF THE STEERING WHEEL ROLL CONNECTOR. WHICH COULD ALSO LEAD TO THE AIRBAG NOT PERFORMING AS IT SHOULD DURING A CRASH. *TR
CVT TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE PREDICTABLY STALLS WHILE IN MOTION APPROACHING A STOP ON CITY STREETS OR ON THE HIGHWAY. ELECTRIC SYSTEM REMAINS OPERATIONAL DURING AND AFTER STALLING INDICATING THAT THE ISSUE IS UNRELATED TO ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. MECHANIC BELIEVES ISSUE TO BE NOW-KNOWN AND WIDESPREAD FAULTY TORQUE CONVERTER. VEHICLE STALLING IN TRAFFIC HAS BECOME VERY DANGEROUS AND HAS NEARLY CAUSED SEVERAL ACCIDENTS.
HEADLIGHT WENT OUT AFTER REPLACEMENT A YEAR AND 3WKS AGO. THIS IS THE 3RD HEADLIGHT REPLACEMENT ON A 2010 VEHICLE SINCE PURCHASE 3YRS AGO AT 29,500MI AS A CERTIFIED USED SUBARU FROM THE DEALER. *TR
PASSENGER AIR BAG SENSOR SYSTEM IS FLAWED. THE AIR BAG REMAINS "OFF" WHEN I AM IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. IT WILL ONLY SHOW "ON" WHEN ADDITIONAL PRESSURE IS APPLIED TO THE SEAT, WHICH IS UNNATURAL TO HOW A PASSENGER WILL SIT IN THE VEHICLE AND DOES NOT OFFER PROTECTION IN AN ACCIDENT. THE SEAT BACK AND SEAT ARE POSITIONED AS RECOMMENDED IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL. THERE IS NOTHING UNDER THE SEAT. LOCAL DEALERSHIP LOOKED AT THE CODES, RESET THEM TO ZEROS, AND STATED THEY DID NOT FIND ERRORS. A FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER PROVIDED FURTHER INVESTIGATION IN NOV 2014 AND RECOMMENDED A SEAT REPLACEMENT IF THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. AFTER I FOLLOWED UP A FEW WEEKS LATER TO REPORT THE PROBLEM WAS STILL THERE AND TO REQUEST A SEAT REPLACEMENT, THE ENGINEER ADVISED THAT A SEAT REPLACEMENT WOULD IN FACT NOT LIKELY MAKE A DIFFERENCE, AND THAT THE SYSTEM WAS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. NO REPLACEMENT OF THE SEAT HAS OCCURRED, AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTS--I DO NOT HAVE AIRBAG PROTECTION AS A PASSENGER IN THIS VEHICLE. SUBARU AGREED THAT I SHOULD FEEL SAFE IN MY VEHICLE, AND OFFERED THE SUGGESTION THAT I TEST AND CONSIDER PURCHASING A NEWER SUBARU MODEL IF IT WORKS FOR ME. THIS IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE SOLUTION. I AGREE WITH NHTSA COMPLAINT 10328146 AND WOULD LIKE TO SEE SUBARU PROPERLY INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM AND OFFER AN ACCEPTABLE SOLUTION--I.E., RETROACTIVELY FIX THE AIRBAG SENSOR TO WORK AT A LOWER WEIGHT THRESHOLD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 SUBARU OUTBACK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR CAUGHT FIRE AFTER THE HEADLIGHTS WERE ACTIVATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
AS I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE WITH A FOOT TO GO, GOING LESS THAN 5 MPH, THE ENGINE SURGED AND THE CAR SUDDENLY LUNGED FORWARD, CLIMBED A 6 INCH CURB AND TRAVELED ABOUT 4 FEET AND HIT A WOODEN STAIRCASE OF A BUILDING. THE ENTIRE TIME MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE. THIS ENTIRE EVENT TOOK LESS THAN A SECOND. *TR
MY SONS (7YRS OLD) WAS SITTING ON PASSENGER SIDE REAR SEAT WITH BOOSTER SEAT AND SEAT BELT ON. WHEN WE GOT HOME, I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND HE UN-BUCKLE THE SEAT BELT AND WAS PLAYING IN THE CAR. NEXT THING I KNOW THE CAR (UN-BUCKLE) SEAT BELT WRAP HIM AROUND.(I CAN FORWARD PHOTO OF HOW THE SEAT BELT WRAP HIM AROUND(LIKE A KNOT).. HE WAS UNABLE TO FREE HIMSELF. I TRIED AND WAS UNABLE TO PULL THE SEAT BELT LOOSE. I EVEN LET THE SAFETY(SEAT) BELT "RELAX" BUT STILL UNABLE TO PULL EXTRA LENGTH OF BELT FROM THE "C" PILLAR TO LOOSEN THE "KNOT" AROUND MY SON.....AS HE TRIED TO FREE HIMSELF BY "TWISTING HIS BODY AROUND, THE SEAT BELT TIGHTEN WHENEVER THE "KNOT" AROUND HIS BODY GETS SMALLER....I TOOK ME ALMOST 3-5 MINUTES TO FREE HIM FROM THIS "KNOW" BY PUSHING THE KNOT DOWN PASS HIS LEG (LIKE SOMEONE TAKING OFF THEIR PANTS)..... I FELT SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT WITH THIS SEAT BELT AS THERE WERE NO WAY FOR ME TO PULL EXTRA LENGTH OF SEATBELT TO LOOSEN THE "KNOT". AS YOU CAN SEE, IF ANY ADULT NOT AROUND, A CHILD MAY GET PANIC AND TRY TO FREE HIMSELF/HERSELF BY SLIDING DOWN (IE.. LIKE TAKING OFF A T-SHIRT) THAT THIS BELT DESIGN THAT AUTOMATICALLY TIGHTEN (AND DOES NOT LOOSEN WHEN RELAXED) WOULD POST A CHOKING HAZARD, PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW I CAN UPLOAD/SEND THE PHOTO OF THE "KNOT" TO YOU? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 SUBARU OUTBACK. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE PARKING BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND FLASHED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PARKING BRAKE ACTUATOR WAS FAULTY. AFTER LEAVING THE DEALER, THE PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED INADVERTENTLY WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO COME TO A STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 SUBARU OUTBACK. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED IT INTO A UTILITY POLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE ACCELERATION FAILURE OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IS DISABLED WHEN THERE IS A PASSENGER. ON A TRIP TO GA WITH MY WIFE, WHO WEIGHS 135 LBS, SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, THE AIR BAG LIGHT WILL INDICATE 'NOT ENABLED'. AT TIMES IT WILL DISPLAY ENABLED, THEN DISABLED ALL WHILE DRIVING. SHIFTING IN THE SEAT DOESN'T DO ANYTHING. IN SUMMARY SOMETIMES ITS ON, SOMETIMES NOT. WE TOOK THIS TO THE DEALER AND THEIR RESPONSE IS THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE WITH A MECHANIC (PROBABLY A HEAVIER PERSON) IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THEIR RECOMMENDATION IS TO ADD WEIGHTS(!!), REPLACE THE SEAT ($1400). THEIR RECOMMENDATIONS ARE UNACCEPTABLE. THEY DID TELL MY WIFE THERE MAY BE DUST OR THE CONTACTS MAY BE FAULTY. I DON'T KNOW WHY THEY COULDN'T CHECK FOR DUST OR REMOVE, CLEAN AND RE-CONNECT CONTACTS. NOTHING WAS MENTIONED ABOUT THE SWITCH. BIG SAFETY ISSUE NOT TO BE TAKEN LIGHTLY, ESPECIALLY BY THE DEALER. *TR
CONDENSATION CONTINUALLY GATHERS INSIDE ONE OF THE LIGHT FIXTURES. THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE BULB AND FIXTURE ARE INSTALLED TO FACTORY SPECIFICATIONS-THE DEALER HAS CHECKED THIS. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE-WITH THE AMOUNT OF CONDENSATION INSIDE THE LIGHT, THE ILLUMINATION OF ONE HEADLIGHT IS GREATLY DIMINISHED MAKING DRIVING AT NIGHT VERY DIFFICULT ESPECIALLY IN DIMLY LIT SITUATIONS. I ALSO DO NOT BELIEVE THAT THE COMBINATION OF ELECTRIC AND WATER INSIDE COMPONENTS IS "NORMAL" UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. I HAVE CONTACTED MY DEALER AND SUBARU-THE COPY OF THE SENT TEXT FOLLOWS-THEY DO NOT RESPOND. I BELIEVE THE MANUFACTURER OF THIS COMPONENT IS MAKING A FAULTY PRODUCT THAT DECREASES SAFETY. I JUST WANT THEM TO REPLACE THE COMPONENT AT NO COST TO ME SINCE I'VE DONE NOTHING WRONG. SENT TO SUBARU OF AMERICA- "THIS IS PERTAINING TO PROBLEMS WITH MY HEADLIGHTS ON MY 2010 OUTBACK. I'VE BEEN TOLD BY MY DEALER-GOLDSTEIN SUBARU-THAT "CONDENSATION IN THE HEADLIGHTS IS NORMAL IN THE NORTHEAST" THEY ALSO TOLD ME I "COULD DRILL A SMALL HOLE IN THE LIGHT TO LET MORE AIR IN". QUESTION-IF IT IS "NORMAL" WHY SHOULD I DRILL A HOLE-THE LIGHT DESIGN SHOULD ACCOUNT FOR PROPER VENTILATION OF THE FIXTURE-SECONDLY HOW COME NO OTHER CARS ON THE LOT HAVE THIS, IT ONLY HAPPENS IN ONE LIGHT AND THERE ARE NUMEROUS OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER SUBARU OWNERS ONLINE? THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE-ELECTRICITY AND WATER DO NOT MIX-THIS "NORMAL" CONDENSATION GREATLY REDUCES THE ILLUMINATION OF THE HEADLIGHT AND VISIBILITY DURING NIGHT DRIVING-IT'S LIKE DRIVING WITH ONE HEADLIGHT. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MANUFACTURER PROBLEM-MY LIGHT WAS CHECKED BY THE DEALER-THERE IS NO DAMAGE AND ALL THE FACTORY SEALS AND BULBS ARE INTACT, YET WATER CONTINUALLY GETS INSIDE THE FIXTURE. I THINK SUBARU OF AMERICA SHOULD REPLACE THIS SAFETY ITEM AT NO COST TO ME. (MY VIN WAS HERE). *TR
PROBLEM STARTED IN ABOUT JULY, 2014 WHEN MY FRONT DRIVERS SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT WENT OUT. I PURCHASED TWO NEW BULBS AND CHANGED THEM (AND THIS IS NO EASY PROCESS WITH THIS VEHICLE). I WORE LATEX GLOVES SO AS NOT TO DAMAGE THE NEW BULBS. APPROXIMATELY A WEEK AFTER INSTALLING THE NEW BULBS, MY DRIVERS SIDE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT AGAIN, BUT WOULD COME ON AND GO OUT SPORADICALLY. IT SEEMED TO COME AND GO WITH DAMP WEATHER OR WHEN I HIT BUMPS WHILE DRIVING, SO I QUESTIONED THE SEAL OF THE FIXTURE COVER AND/OR THE WIRING CONNECTION, SO I WENT THROUGH THE PROCESS AGAIN AND CHECKED THE SEATING OF THE BULB, WIRING CONNECTION, AND SEAL OF THE HOUSING, AND ALL WERE FINE. THE PROBLEM WAS SOLVED FOR A SHORT TIME, BUT THEN STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN. AFTER A COUPLE OF WEEKS OF ON/OFF OPERATION, IT WENT OUT FOR GOOD. I PULLED THE BULB AND CHECKED THE FILAMENT, AND IT WAS FINE, BUT I PUT THE OLD PASSENGER BULB (ORIGINAL TO THE VEHICLE) IN. IT WORKED AND DID NOT FLICKER FOR SEVERAL MONTHS, BUT EVENTUALLY STARTED TO SHOW THE SAME SIGNS AS THE NEWER BULBS I PUT IN. THEN IT STOPPED WORKING ALTOGETHER. THE BULBS HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWO MORE TIMES BETWEEN THEN AND NOW, BUT I AM HAVING THE SAME TROUBLE AGAIN, STILL WITH THE DRIVERS SIDE. THIS MANY TIMES IS NOT A COINCIDENCE. I FEEL THIS IS A DEFECT WITH THE WIRING OR WITH THE ACTUAL HEADLIGHT UNIT ITSELF. OF COURSE, THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY, AND I DREAD TAKING IT TO THE DEALER TO HEAR IT WILL BE AN EXPENSIVE FIX. WITH SO MANY DOCUMENTED OCCURRENCES, I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY SUBARU. *TR
I HEARD A GRINDING SOUND AND CHECKED THE REAR BRAKES. PAD AND ROTORS WERE WEARING METAL ON METAL. CHECKED FRONT BRAKES AND THEY WERE FINE. CALLED DEALER AS TO WHAT MIGHT BE WRONG WAS TOLD I MUST HAVE DRIVEN THE VEHICLE WITH PARKING BRAKE ON. I ASKED IF THERE WERE PROBLEMS WITH THE PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM AS I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THE BACK BRAKES WEARING OUT BEFORE THE FRONT ESPECIALLY WITH APPROXIMATELY 40K MILE OPEN COUNTRY MILES. I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE STAFF MEMBER THEY HAVE NEVER ENCOUNTERED THIS BEFORE . UP ON GOOGLING THE PROBLEM I FOUND THAT 2010 OUTBACKS WERE HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES. I WANT TO ADD MINE TO THE DATA BASE. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE BRAKES POSSIBLY ACTIVATING WHILE MOVING OR NOT RELEASING AS DESIGNED. *TR
ON APPROXIMATELY 04/13/2014 APPROXIMATELY AT 6:00 PM ET, MY SUBURU OUTBACK 2010 RAPIDLY ACCELERATED WHEN MY FOOT WAS CENTERED ON THE BRAKE PETAL AND I MOVED THE GEAR FROM NEUTRAL TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD, ENGINE HIGHLY REVVED. I PUSHED HARD AS POSSIBLE ON THE BRAKE AND SHOVED THE GEAR BACK INTO NEUTRAL. THE ENGINE WAS RACING AND I SWITCHED OFF THE POWER. I POWERED BACK UP AND THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE, GAS MILEAGE CALCULATOR, ETC. WAS OUT. THE AC/HEAT TEMPERATURE AND CONTROL SCREEN WAS OUT. THE FAN CONTROL ONLY WOULD WORK AND PUT OUT EXTREME HEAT. THE OUTSIDE MIRROR MOTORS WOULD NOT WORK. FOR THE NEXT 30 MINUTES ON THE WAY HOME I STOPPED SEVERAL TIMES AND EXPERIENCED THE SAME ELECTRICAL CONDITIONS UPON RESTART. ON APRIL 14, 2014, ALL SYSTEMS WERE NORMAL WHEN I STARTED THE ENGINE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WAS TOLD THEY WOULD REPLACE THE SWITCH (KEYS) BUT HAD NO INFORMATION ON RAPID ACCELERATION OUT OF CONTROL. I AM CONCERNED THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AND RESULT IN WRECK AND/OR INJURY TO MYSELF AND/OR OTHERS. NO MATS WERE IN THE CAR AT TIME OF INCIDENT. *TT
MODEL YEAR HAS UNDER SIZED BRAKES FOR THE VEHICLE WEIGHT,( ROTORS QUICKLY WARP ) #2 IN THE ABSENCE OF SURFACE RUST, FRONT SUB FRAME ROTTING AWAY. GOT RID OF CAR AFTER JUST INSTALLING NEW SET MICHELLIN TIRES, BRAKES, ROTORS AND DETAILING. HAD I KNOWN!!! HOW DISCOVERED; STATIONARY, LOOKING FOR SOURCE OF STRANGE NOISE UNDER NEATH UPON STOPING AND STARTING IN TRAFFIC.
2010 SUBARU OUTBACK. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO EXCESSIVE BRAKE WEAR, AT LOW MILEAGE. *SMD THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, FOR A BRAKE INSPECTION, DUE TO AN EXCESSIVE NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR BRAKES. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THE BRAKE COMPONENTS HAD A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF RUST AS WELL AS BEING WORN OUT. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE REAR BRAKE DESIGN WAS TOO SMALL FOR THE VEHICLE. HE SUSPECTED THE NEWER VERSIONS OF THE OUTBACK'S HAD A MORE HEAVY-DUTY REAR BRAKE DESIGN THAN HIS VEHICLE. THE MATERIALS USED IN THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION WERE EITHER IMPROPERLY SELECTED, INSTALLED OR DEFECTIVE. *JB
WAS DRIVING ON WHAT APPEARED TO BE A CLEAR, CLEAN ROAD AT ABOUT 8 AM THE DAY AFTER A SNOWSTORM. THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG NEVER DEPLOYED DESPITE SEVERE FRONTAL AND SIDE DAMAGE. THE CAR WAS TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. I STILL HAVE NO EXPLANATION AS TO WHY THIS ALL HAPPENED. IN SEARCHING THE INTERNET FOR ANSWERS, I FOUND 2 RECALLS ONE DATED 6/24/2010 WHICH COULD INVOLVE THE AIRBAG, AND ONE DATED 5/11/2010 WHICH INVOLVED THE CVT COOLER HOSE LEADING TO A CRASH. I HAVE NOT HIT ANY FOD OR POTHOLES - THERE HAS BEEN NO UNUSUAL TRAUMA TO THE TIRES. AFTER 13 MONTHS, 18K MILES, THE LEFT FRONT TIRE'S INNER SIDEWALL SUFFERED A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. AFTER I THOUGHT ABOUT IT, I DECIDED THE "CATCHING FEELING" ACTUALLY FELT MORE LIKE L HAD NOT DEPRESSED A CLUTCH WHEN SLOWING DOWN AND THE CAR WAS GOING TO STALL. I AM SO AFRAID THE CAR WILL CUT OUT ON ME AND I WILL LOSE CONTROL ON THE ROAD. AT APPROXIMATELY 6:35 A.M. CST I STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. I RECALL HEARING WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A WOMAN SCREAMING, IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED BY THE SOUND OF TIRES SCREECHING AS WHEN BRAKES ARE QUICKLY APPLIED. I GLANCED INTO MY REARVIEW MIRROR AND DID NOT SEE ANY ONCOMING HEADLIGHTS. IT WAS THEN THAT MY CAR WAS HIT FROM BEHIND. I HAVE NO RECOLLECTION OF BEING THROWN BACKWARD FROM THE REAR IMPACT, OR BEING THROWN FORWARD FROM THE IMPACT OF HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME, OR STOPPING. I ALSO DO NOT RECALL THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIR BAG IN MY STEERING WHEEL. MY NEXT THOUGHT WAS REALIZING THAT I WAS IN A RECLINING POSITION AND SEEING THE BENT HOOD OF MY CAR WHILE LOOKING THROUGH THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY WINDSHIELD. I WAS IN A GREAT DEAL OF PAIN. MY LOWER BACK WAS BURNING AND I HAD GREAT PAIN IN MY LEFT RIBCAGE. I COULD ALSO TELL I HAD MY BREATH KNOCKED OUT OF ME. MY INJURIES INCLUDED THE FOLLOWING: 4 BROKEN RIBS ON THE LEFT SIDE (#6, 7, 8, AND 9) LOWER LUMBAR STRAIN BRUISES ACROSS MY ABDOMEN, RIGHT HIP, INSIDE OF LEFT CALF, INSIDE OF RIGHT CALF, OUTSIDE OF MY LEFT LEG SPRAIN OF RIGHT ANKLE GASH ON THE FRONT OF MY LEFT LEG I HAVE A PICTURE OF THE BROKEN SEAT IF DESIRED. WHILE DRIVING DOWNHILL IN THE SUMMER ON A DRY ROAD AT AROUND 60 MPH THE STEERING WHEEL EXCESSIVELY BEGIN TO VIBRATE/SHAKE AROUND 55MPH AND HIGHER SPEEDS LEFT TO RIGHT AND RIGHT TO LEFT EXCESSIVELY. THE VIBRATION/SHAKING WAS ALMOST UNCONTROLLABLE AS IF IT WERE ON BLACK ICE. THE VIBRATION ONLY BECAME CONTROLLABLE IF I SLOWED DOWN. THIS SHAKING/VIBRATION ONLY SEEMS TO OCCUR AT HIGHER SPEEDS AND OCCURS QUITE OFTEN. *TR
I TOOK MY 2010 SUBARU OUTBACK TO MY DEALER TO HAVE MY FRONT BRAKES CHECKED. IT FELT LIKE THEY WERE GRABBING, AND I WANTED TO CHECK THE WEAR. THEY CHECKED THE BRAKES, CLEANED THEM UP, AND STATED THEY WERE AT NORMAL WEAR FOR 35,000 MILES. IN THE NEXT BREATH, THEY STATED I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. I STILL HAVE NOT GOTTEN AN EXACT REASON WHY MY TWO YEAR OLD CAR NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION. I HAVE A CVT AUTOMATIC/MANUAL TRANSMISSION. THE DEALER WAS VERY VAGUE AS TO WHAT HAPPENED. THEY STATED IT WAS THE FIRST ONE THEY'VE SEEN THIS HAPPEN TO. *KB
