THE CAR ACCELERATES WHEN BRAKING. ONLY HAPPENED TWICE SO FAR. DON'T REMEMBER EXACTLY WHERE OR WHAT I WAS DOING BUT FOR SURE NEEDED TO SLOW DOWN & AS I BRAKED THE CAR ALSO ACCELERATED AT THE SAME TIME. I DON'T REMEMBER THE DATES. IT'S BEEN AWHILE AGO. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY MY HUSBAND TURNED THE DEFROST ON AND WE HEARD A 'POP' SOUND. THEN MY HUSBAND SAID YOUR WINDSHIELD IS CRACKING AND NOTHING HIT THE WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK STARTED IN THE BOTTOM CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD IN THE BLACK PART OF THE WINDSHIELD AND THE CRACK CURVES UP AND TOWARDS THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD.
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON CLEAR DRY ROADWAYS, THE STEERING FEELS AS IF I HAVE A BRIEF LOSS OF CONTROL. I LIKEN IT TO HITTING A PATCH OF ICE AND HAVING A SLIGHT LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL. I'VE NOTICED IT TWICE WHILE ENTERING A CURVE AND DECELERATING FROM 55 MPH TO 45 MPH (THE REDUCED SPEED LIMIT OF THE CURVE). THIS ISSUE HAPPENS ONLY INTERMITTENTLY AND IS ONLY NOTICEABLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. WE HAD THE SUBARU DEALER LOOK AT IT AND THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG.
2017 OUTBACK SECOND TIME WINDSHIELD HAS CRACKED. FIRST TIME (11/2018)SOMETHING VERY TINY HIT THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD AND IT CRACKED. THE CAR WAS ON AN INTERSTATE. THE EMPHASIS IS ON TINY, NO WAY IT SHOULD HAVE CRACKED. THIS TIME, 12/25/2019, I WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, ON AN INTERSTATE, LOOKING STRAIGHT AHEAD AND ALL OF A SUDDEN A CRACK APPEARED ON THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD. I EXCLAIMED TO MY HUSBAND "THE WINDSHIELD JUST CRACKED!". NOTHING HIT IT, IT JUST CRACKED AND IT CONTINUES TO GROW. THIS WAS AND CONTINUES TO BE A KNOWN PROBLEM BASED ON READING I HAVE DONE. I HOPED THE FIRST TIME AROUND SUBARU HAD CORRECTED THE PROBLEM WITH THE WINDSHIELD, I HAD A CORRECTED WINDSHIELD AND NO LONGER HAD TO WORRY. WHY ISN'T THIS OBVIOUS PROBLEM BEING ADDRESSED? MY INSURANCE RATE WENT UP AS A RESULT OF THE FIRST "INCIDENT". AND, WITH THE FIRST ONE IT TOOK AROUND 30 DAYS TO GET IT RESOLVED PRIMARILY BECAUSE OF A DIFFICULTY LOCATING A SUBARU REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELD.
THE CAR BATTERY HAS DIED FOR NO APPARENT REASON TWICE WITHIN LESS THAN 2 YEARS OF OWNING THE VEHICLE. I'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY BOTH TIMES AS IT WOULD NOT HOLD A CHARGE.
WITH ALL ITEMS OFF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IN THE VEHICLE DRAINS THE BATTERY IN A SHORT TIME. I HAVE INSTALLED A SWITCH ON THE BATTERY TO OPEN CIRCUIT SO THE BATTERY DOESN'T DRAIN WHILE PARKED. THIS PREVENTS ME FROM BEING STRANDED AGAIN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED.WHEN I RETURN TO THE VEHICLE I SWITCH BACK TO CLOSED BATTERY CIRCUIT. I NOW CAN START THE CAR AND I AM NOT STRANDED. THIS PROVES TO ME THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM DRAWING TOO MUCH CURRENT WHEN VEHICLE IS PARKED WITH NO ITEMS ON IN THE VEHICLE. IF YOU WANT I WILL PROVIDE THE CURRENT FLOW WHEN VEHICLE IS OFF AND PARKED. THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM AND I WILL PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION THAT YOU WANT. I APPRECIATE YOUR ACTION ON THIS PROBLEM.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED, OVER FOOT LONG
I have to jump-start my vehicle several times a week, sometimes multiple times per day. The battery drains dead in minutes, even after an hour long trip. I have about 42,000 miles on my car and I'm on my third battery - about to purchase a fourth battery. I also had to purchase a jump box to store in my car due to being stranded several times with a car that does not operate. I leave all cabin light switches set to the OFF position, I do not use the trunk lift if the car is not running, I do not leave the headlights on, and I drive roughly 4 days per week. This is unacceptable, and dangerous - Subaru brands these cars as adventurous and outdoorsy, but I have been stranded in dangerous snow storm and I'm sure others have as well. There were never any system or dash warnings - it just fails to start without warning.
Throttle fails to respond for a brief but serious amount of time. When pulling into traffic, instead of accelerating the engine remains at an idle and the car moves forward slowly. I push on the throttle trying to make it go. Then it takes hold and the car leaps forward. Safety: Normal power is delayed as the car moves into traffic. Oncoming traffic must slow to prevent an accident. The dealer where I purchased the car, Santa Monica, CA, tried to find error codes. Also removed the throttle valve to check that it wasn't somehow stuck. They drove the car briefly. They say they've done all they can. No warning lamps, messages, codes stored in the computer. Note that the throttle pedal signals the computer to work the engine throttle valve (so I'm told). Problem occurs about once a month. First time was when I took posession at the dealer's. I requested to recind my purchase but, because I didn't by the cancellation option ($250), they refused.
WINDSHIELD HAD A CRACK FOR NO REASON. CAR WAS STATIONARY AND IN THE COVERED GARAGE. WE NOTICED THE CRACK ORIGINATE FROM THE BOTTOM CENTER OF THE GLASS AND WAS SPREADING UPWARDS TOWARDS THE MIDDLE. WE HAD TO GET THE ENTIRE THING REPLACED.
MY WINDSHIELD STARTED CRACKING FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I NOTICED IT AFTER GETTING READY TO TRAVEL HOME AFTER WORK. MY CAR WAS PARKED IN A COVERED GARAGE.
IN FEBRUARY 2019, A CRACK APPEARED STARTING AT THE BASE OF THE WINDSHIELD. THROUGHOUT THE DAY IT GREW TO GO ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. SUBARU SAID I HAD TO FIX IT THERE DUE TO EYESIGHT. IN DECEMBER 2018, THE SAME THING HAPPENED. I NOTICED A SMALL CRACK WHEN I GOT INTO MY CAR. NOTHING HIT IT. THROUGHOUT THE DAY THE CRACK SPREAD ABOUT TWO FEET. THIS ALL HAPPENED IN LESS THAN A YEAR. I DO NOT THINK A CRACK OCCURRED FROM BEING HIT BY ANYTHING. I THINK IT'S A DEFECTIVE WINDSHIELD. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY BOTH TIMES THAT I SAW THE INITIAL CRACK.
THERE ARE TWO CRACKS ON THE WINDSHIELD, INCLUDING AREAS THAT DON'T SEEM TO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO BE HIT BY ROAD DEBRIS (ON THE VERY EDGE, PROTECTED BY BODY TRIM. THESE WERE DISCOVERED AND HAVEN'T BEEN CONNECTED TO ANY OBVIOUS PIECE OF ROAD DEBRIS OR DINGS. THEY WERE JUST DISCOVERED IN A NORMAL VISUAL INSPECTION PRIOR TO DRIVING.
TWICE, DURING A TIME PERIOD OF 10 MINUTES, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED SUDDENLY WHEN THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED. I COULD HEAR AND FEEL THE ACCELERATOR KICK IN WHEN MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE -- THE VEHICLE WAS PROPELLED FORWARD. FIRST AT A STOP SIGN BEFORE PULLING OUT ONTO A BUSY CITY STREET, THEN 10 MINUTES LATER WHEN STOPPING TO ALLOW CROSS TRAFFIC TO CLEAR BEFORE PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT. PAVEMENT WAS DRY (NO ICE, SNOW, OR WATER). I KNOW THAT MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE AND NOT THE ACCELERATOR. CALLED THE DEALER AND BROUGHT IT IN IMMEDIATELY. OVER ABOUT A 3-WEEK PERIOD, THE DEALER EVALUATED THE VEHICLE AND HAD A SAFETY ENGINEER FROM CORPORATE COME IN TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE, AND THE CONCLUSION WAS THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR, AND NOTHING SHOWED UP ON THE VEHICLE LOGS/DATA TO INDICATE A PROBLEM. I SAID I REFUSED TO DRIVE THE CAR ANYMORE. WE DECIDED TO TRADE IT IN, AND THEY DIDN'T GIVE US ANY TRADE IN ASSISTANCE BECAUSE THEY SAID NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. HOWEVER, THEY DID GIVE US $2,500 COUPON TOWARDS A BRAND NEW, 2020, VEHICLE, WHICH WE USED. *TR
WINDSHIELD CRACKS AND REQUIRES REPLACEMENT FOLLOWING THE SMALLEST OF PEBBLES IMPACTING WINDSCREEN. THIS IS MY SECOND REPLACEMENT FOLLOWING A SMALL HIT RESULTING IN THE ENTIRE SCREEN CRACKING FROM MOLDING TO MOLDING, RENDERING THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE.
- I have been stranded multiple times waiting on a jump because the battery has drained and died for no apparent reason. - OEM Battery on my 2017 vehicle was replaced under warranty at the end of 2019. At the end of 2020 (one year, and less than 10,000 miles later) I was stranded in a parking lot waiting on a jump after sitting in the car with the radio on for 45 minutes. I took the car to an auto parts store for testing and it "failed." - In May of 2021 I went to get in the car after 3 days of not driving it and the replacement OEM battery was completely dead. To the point that it wouldn't even unlock the car doors using the key fob.
The contact owns a 2017 Subaru Outback. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start. The contact was able to jump start the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the battery was replaced; however, the failure recurred several times. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the contact would be notified of what the manufacturer was responsible to cover. The failure mileage was 70,000.
TRANSMISSION PERIODICALLY PUTS EXTRA POWER TO WHEELS DURING BRAKING RESULTING IN MANY NEAR MISSES.
WINDSHIELD CRACKS AND INSTANTLY SPREAD WITH MINIMAL IMPACT DISABLING CAR SPEED CONTROL AND SAFETY SYSTEMS SUCH AS PRE-COLLISION BRAKING AND LANE KEEP ASSIST.
THE WINDSHIELD JUST CRACKED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ENTERING THE FREEWAY. THERE WAS NO VEHICLE IN FRONT OF MINE WITHIN 150 FEET. THERE IS NO MARK INDICATING AN IMPACT TO THE WINDSHIELD WHERE THE CRACK STARTS.
I HAD A CRACK REPAIRED, IT ISN'T GOOD THOUGH.
THE CAR BATTERY WAS FOUND TO BE DEAD AFTER SITTING FOR AT LEAST 2 DAYS, ON 3 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS BEFORE BEING REPLACED ON 1/8/2020. AFTER BEING REPLACED THE SAME PROBLEM KEPT HAPPENING. THE NEW BATTERY WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE PLACE OF PURCHASE WHERE IT WAS TESTED AND FOUND TO BE IN GOOD WORKING ORDER. SINCE BEING REPLACED THE SAME CONDITION KEEPS HAPPENING, AT LEAST 4 MORE TIME , MOST RECENT AS 11/3/2020. EACH TIME THE VEHICLE SAT IN OUR DRIVEWAY FOR 2 TO 3 DAYS NOT BEING USED
BATTERY DRAINS PREMATURELY. PURCHASED NEW IN DECEMBER 2017. PRIMARY USE IS SHORT-TRIP-DRIVING TO/FROM WORK. CAR FAILED TO START IN NOVEMBER 2019. CHARGED BATTERY AND TOOK IN FOR SERVICE. BATTERY REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. PROBLEM REPEATED IN APRIL 2020.
BATTERY APPEARS TO DRAIN OVER A RELATIVELY SHORT PERIOD OF TIME RESULTING IN: P1604 STARTABILITY MALFUNCTION, B2320 BACK &SIDE RADAR LOW VOLTAGE, C1413 ANTILOCK BRAKES VOLTAGE MALFUNCTION, B2500 POWER LIFT GATE VOLTAGE MALFUNCTION, B2A07 TELEMATICS BATTERY CHARGE HISTORY FAULT, B1011 BATTERY POWER SUPPLY CONTROL MALFUNCTION, B1013 IGNITION POWER SUPPLY FAILURE, AND B1014 ACCESSORY POWER SUPPLY FAILURE. ALL IS TAKING PLACE WHILE VEHICLE IS PARKED IN HEATED GARAGE.
BATTERY DRAIN. BATTERY NEEDED REPLACEMENT 11/14/2019.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED. IT'S UNKNOWN WHETHER IT WAS DUE TO ROAD TRAFFIC AS WE DIDN'T NOTICE IT RIGTHT AWAY. THE ORIGINAL CRACK STARTED BELOW THE DASHBOARD EYESITE.
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS (WHEN STARTING IN DRIVEWAY - STOPPED, WHILE DRIVING IN PARKING LOT - 5 MPH, DRIVING IN TOWN - 25 MPH, WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY - 60 MPH) ALL ADVANCED SAFETY FEATURES ARE DISABLED INCLUDING (BUT NOT LIMITED TO) EYE SIGHT (FAB - FORWARD AUTO BRAKE, ACC - ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, LAS - LANE ASSIST STEERING), RAB - REAR AUTO BRAKE, REAR CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT, BLIND SPOT DETECTION, PARK BRAKE, ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, POWER STEERING. NOTE THAT THE FAILURE OF THESE SYSTEMS DOES NOT CAUSE A CHECK ENGINE CONDITION AND NO ERROR CODES ARE LOGGED. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE FIRST 4/5 FAILURES LEFT NO CODES. THE NEXT FAILURE WAS DELIVERED TO DEALER WHILE RUNNING IN A FAILED STATE. DEALER REPORTED NO CODES FOUND. SINCE THE DEALER DID NOT REPORT THIS TO SUBARU I WILL BE REPORTING THIS PROBLEM TO SUBARU.
THE BATTERY FAILED LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD. COMPLETELY DIED ON NOVEMBER 6,2019. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND WOULD NOT START.
KEYS GET LOCKED INTO IGNITION WHEN IN PARK AND READY TO LEAVE CAR AND ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE.
KEY HAS BEGUN TO GET STUCK IN IGNITION EACH TIME I SHIFT INTO PARK AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. ONE HAS TO REPEATEDLY SLAM THE GEAR SHIFT INTO PARK FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH TO RECOGNIZE THE CAR IS INDEED IN "PARK" AND RELEASE THE KEY. COULD CREATE AN ISSUE FOR ANYONE WITHOUT THE PHYSICAL STRENGTH TO "SLAM" THE GEAR SHIFT INTO "PARK" OR SOMEONE WHO NEEDS TO QUICKLY EXIT THEIR VEHICLE AND GET INTO THEIR LOCKED HOUSE OR BUILDING. HOUSE KEYS ARE ALWAYS ATTACHED TO CAR KEYS, WHICH ARE INEVITABLY STUCK IN THE IGNITION. A SEARCH OF ONLINE FORUMS SHOWS THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT SUBARU HAS NOT MADE GOOD ON AND DEALERS ARE CHARGING OWNERS UPWARDS OF $600 TO REPAIR.
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY WHEN THE DRIVER HEARD THE WINDSHIELD CRACK. DRIVER NEVER SAW ANY ITEM STRIKE THE WINDSHIELD. BECAUSE EYESIGHT SENSORS HAVE TO BE RECALIBRATED AFTER A WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT, THIS INCIDENT COST ALMOST $1000 TO REPAIR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 SUBARU OUTBACK. DURING COLD WEATHER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE FAILURE OCCURRED EVER SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED ON APRIL 15, 2017. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CAPITAL SUBARU (920 CAPITAL EXPRESSWAY AUTO MALL, SAN JOSE, CA 95136) ON THREE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, BUT THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,718.
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PLACED IN PARK IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO REMOVE THE KEY. THIS LEAVES ME STRANDED AS I CAN NOT LEAVE THE VEHICLE. I WAS LEFT STRANDED IN MEXICO. *TR
WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A CRACK FROM THE VERY TOP EDGE WITHOUT ANY IMPACT OR SIGNS OF DAMAGE. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND IN A COVERED GARAGE.
I have had to replace the battery multiple times since purchasing the vehicle in 2017. Each time the battery was determined to be unusable by qualified service staff. Battery replacements occurred on (1) 2019-10-18 at 34,877 miles and on (2) 2022-02-24 at 67,339 miles. The first occurrence left me stranded at a hotel on a sub-freezing day. The second occurrence left me stranded in a parking lot. Both required me to obtain commercial service to get on the road. Both occurrences were subsequently diagnosed by a reputable service shop (Les Schwab) as a battery failure and replacement was recommended. The battery failures occurred without warning from the vehicle (no lamps).
IGNITION KEY GETS STUCK AND WOULD NOT COME OUT BECAUSE OF FAULTY SHIFT GEAR SENSOR NOT RECOGNIZING THE PARK POSITION.
MY SUBARU OUTBACK 2017 WINDSHIELD WAS HIT BY A TINY STONE AT ~50MPH SPEED, BARELY LEAVING ANY MARK. HOWEVER, LATER ON (HOURS LATER) A CRACK STARTED TO GROW FROM THAT AREA. EVERY SEVERAL DAYS IT WOULD INCREASE BY A FEW INCHES, EVENTUALLY SPLITTING INTO COUPLE DIRECTIONS ACROSS A FEW WEEKS PERIOD. IT ENDED UP CLOSING A FULL LOOP, AT WHICH POINT I FEEL IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND AM ABOUT TO REPLACE IT. SIMILAR TYPE OF MINOR STONES HITS NEVER SEEMED TO CAUSE ANY SUCH ISSUES ON OTHER CARS I'VE OWNED.
THE IGNITION KEY CANNOT BE REMOVED FROM IGNITION. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY TIME, BUT SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK. I HAVE READ MANY ONLINE COMPLAINTS WHERE THIS IS HAPPENING TO SEVERAL SUBARU OWNERS. THEY SAID SUBARU IS CHARGING THE CONSUMER ANYWHERE FROM $375 TO $800 TO FIX IT.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,700.
THE WINDSHIELD ON MY 2017 SUBARU OUTBACK WITH 28,000 MI. HAS DEVELOPED A CRACK I SEE THAT A LOT OF OWNERS OF OUTBACKS ARE ALSO HAVING CRACKS DEVELOP. NOT SURE IF THERE IS A RECALL ON THE WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK SHOWED UP AS I PULLED THE CAR OUT OF THE GARAGE I WASN'T EVEN DRIVING ON THE ROAD. THE CRACK IS ON THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD NEAR THE CENTER.
THE KEY GETS STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND WILL NOT RELEASE. HAVE TO LEAVE THE KEY IN IGNITION ALL THE TIME.
KEY GETS STUCK IN THE IGNITION. THE CAR DRIVES, TURNS OFF, AND TURNS ON LIKE NORMAL HOWEVER, WHEN THE CAR IS PUT INTO PARK, TURNED OFF, AND THE THE KEY IS ATTEMPTED TO BE REMOVED THE KEY DOES NOT COME OUT. IT ONLY COMES OUT AFTER SOMETIMES AN HOUR OR MORE OF PUTTING THE CAR INTO DRIVE AND THEN INTO PARK AGAIN. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I ATTEMPT TO REMOVE THE KEY.
AFTER STOPPING VEHICLE AND PUTTING IT IN PARK, KEY WILL NOT RETURN TO START AND IS STUCK IN IGNITION.
Multiple battery failures with regular usage. Had to replace battery with AAA on a weekend evening. 10/6/2019 new battery cost $148.42, plus hours of waiting time. In 2021, two calls to AAA to jump start dead battery from regular usage.

SUBURBAN IMPORTS OF TROY (1800 MAPLELAWN DR, TROY, MI 48084) WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE BATTERY WAS BELOW THE LOAD TEST. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL AT THE DEALER AWAITING THE BATTERY REPLACEMENT. THE CONTACT REFERENCED A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR THE BATTERY FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,900. CONSUMER STATED THE BATTERY HAS BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES.*JB
WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A CHIP WHICH TURNED INTO A 12 INCH CRACK WITHOUT IMPACT FROM ROCKS OR LARGE ROAD DEBRIS. THE CHIP APPEARED WILL DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE SOUND OF SAND OR BUGS WAS HEAR TO HIT THE WINDSHIELD BUT WAS NOT ANYTHING THAT WOULD RESULT IN A CHIP THAT WOULD LEAD TO A 12 INCH CRACK. THE WINDSHIELD HAD TO BE REPLACED. COST TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD OUT OF POCKET WAS $675.73 PLUS TAX
I bought the car new. 2 years later the battery died. I had to replace the battery again this summer. That’s 2 batteries in less than 5 years. I just received the notification about the electrical problem Subaru knew about since 2017.
I OWN AND DRIVE A 2017 SUBARU OUTBACK PREMIUM. I LIKE THIS CAR AND ENJOY DRIVING IT. MY CAR HAS THE FULL EYESIGHT SAFETY SYSTEM. ON SEPTEMBER 27 2019 I WAS DRIVING SOUTHBOUND ON THE NORTHEAST EXTENSION OF THE PENNSYLVANIA TURNPIKE. I WAS A FEW MILES SOUTH OF THE LANSDALE EXIT IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF THREE. THE ROAD WAS DRY, THE WEATHER CLEAR AND TEMPERATURE ABOUT 80 DEGREES. I WAS DRIVING BETWEEN 65 AND 70 MPH. A CAR PASSED ME ON THE RIGHT AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED AND PULLED INTO MY LANE IN FRONT OF ME. MY SUBARU PRE-COLLISION BRAKING SYSTEM SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES AND BROUGHT ME TO AN ABRUPT STOP IN MY LANE. I HAD NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. MY WIFE WAS SCREAMING ' WHAT ARE YOU DOING ? WHAT ARE YOU DOING ? 'MY EYES WENT TO THE REAR VIEW MIRROR TO SEE WHO WAS GOING TO HIT ME. MY FOOT STAYED ON THE ACCELERATOR TRYING TO KEEP MOVING. THE PRE-COLLISION BRAKING SYSTEM FINALLY RELEASED THE CAR AND I WAS ABLE TO MOVE AGAIN. I MOVED TO THE RIGHT LANE AND PUT MY EMERGENCY FOUR WAY FLASHERS ON. IT HAPPENED TWO MORE TIMES IN THE NEXT MILE. I PULLED OVER AND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ADVISED HOW TO TURN OFF THE PRE-COLLISION BRAKING SYSTEM. ON OCTOBER 3RD I TOOK MY OUTBACK TO THE CIOCCA SUBARU DEALERSHIP IN ALLENTOWN PA. THEY KEPT THE CAR FOR A WEEK AND CLAIMED THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THEIR EYESIGHT SYSTEM. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR.
4TH WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT ON 2017 SUBARU OUTBACK 2.5I PREMIUM WITH EYESIGHT (43,000 MILES). MINOR IMPACT WHILE DRIVING WHICH I'M SURE HAPPENS EVERY DAY TO OTHER MAKES WITHOUT NEEDING TO REPLACE WINDSHIELD. NEVER HAD TO REPLACE A WINDSHIELD IN THIS HOUSEHOLD WITH 80+ YEARS OF DRIVING NON-SUBARUS. SUBARU CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT DEFECTIVE GLASS FROM 2015-2016 IS NOT BEING USED AS OEM REPLACEMENT. WENT WITH AFTERMARKET ON 4TH TIME. SEEMS TO ME THAT SUBARU GLASS IS DEFECTIVE.
FAULTY WINDSHIELD, I AM ON MY THIRD WINDSHIELD WHICH HAS JUST CRACKED. THE CRACK ALWAYS BEGINS IN THE SAME PLACE, LOWER PASSENGER SIDE BELOW WINDSHIELD WIPER ASSEMBLY IN DEFROST PORTION OF GLASS. SUBARU HAS REPLACED THE GLASS TWICE AT NO COST AT 27,407 MILES AND 45,099 MILES. NOW AT APPROX. 63,000 MILES IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN. SUBARU IS "UNAWARE" OF ANY PROBLEM WITH THE WINDSHIELDS IN 2017 OUTBACK MODELS. I AM UNAWARE OF ANY ROCK IMPACT TO THE GLASS. WHILE IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY, I HEAR A POP SOUND AND CRACK BEGINS TO FORM AND SPREAD QUICKLY.
