CENTER SCREEN (MCU) OFTEN FAILS SO THAT I CANNOT ACCESS THE BACKUP CAMERA, HEADLIGHT CONTROLS, AND MANY OTHER CRITICAL FUNCTIONS.
SLOWLY REVERSE, BACKING OUT OF THE GARAGE DRIVE WAY AND ALL SUDDEN HEARD A LOUD CRANK NOISE UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE ON THE DRIVER SIDE. TRY TO DRIVE UP THE DRIVE WAY INTO THE GARAGE AND THE VEHICLE MADE A CRANKY LOUD NOISE. FOUND A PIECE OF METAL BROKEN AND FALL OFF ON THE GROUND UNDER THE VEHICLE. TOWED THE VEHICLE TO SERVICE CENTER AND ADVISOR TOLD THE FRONT SUSPENSION CONTROL ARM/FORE LINK ASSY WAS BROKEN BECAUSE SOMETHING HIT OR IMPACTED THE SIDE WHEELS/VEHICLE THAT MADE THE THE CONTROL ARM/FORE LINK ASSY BROKE. THEY QUOTED AS CUSTOMER'S FAULT AND ADVISED TO REPLACE AND CHARGED FOR BOTH SIDE OF THE SUSPENSION CONTROL ARMS/FORE LINK ASSY WHILE ONLY 1 BROKEN.
LOWER RIGHT CONTROL ARM FAILED. FULLY CRACKED AND PIECE BROKEN OFF. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY GOT TWO WEEKS AND HAD ZERO SUSPENSION ISSUES UNTIL BEING MOVED OUT OF PARKING SPACE. UPON MOVEMENT 1-2MPH WHEEL STARTED TO RUB WHEEL LINER UPON INVESTIGATION FOUND BROKE CONTROL ARM
I WAS DRIVING NORMALLY AND HAD TO APPLY BRAKES AT A RAIL-ROAD CROSSING INTERSECTION AND MY PASSENGER FRONT FORE-LINK PART OF SUSPENSION BROKE. VEHICLE BECAME UNDRIVABLE AND HAD TO BE STOPPED IN MIDDLE OF ROAD. I HAD TO GET MY VEHICLE TOWED TO TESLA SERVICE CENTER IN PLANO, TX AND WAS INFORMED THAT FORE-LINK PART OF SUSPENSION IS BROKEN. IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED NOW.
MCU1 FAILING. MANY REBOOTS. KNOWN TESLA ISSUE. RECALL IS NEEDED.
2 WEEKS AGO I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT NIGHT. MY INFOTAINMENT UNIT TURNED BLACK, I LOST: 1.. AUTO PILOT 2. HVAC 3. EXTERIOR LIGHTS 4. RADIO 5. MAPS, BLINKERS WHEN I CONTACTED TESLA, THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR. WE COULD HAVE EASILY GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT LOSING THESE VITAL THINGS. HOW DO YOU GET TESLA TO FIX THIS AND WHAT IS THE RIGHT FIX?
MY MAIN DISPLAY IS SLOWER TO START UP, RANDOMLY FREEZES, REBOOTS, OR JUST GOES BLACK WHEN I'M DRIVING. THIS IS THE DISPLAY THAT CONTROLS LIGHTS, THE RADIO, THE CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM, AND REARVIEW CAMERA. THIS HAPPENS AT RANDOM TIMES, INCLUDING WHILE DRIVING.
MAIN SCREEN PERIODICALLY WON'T RESPOND. REAR, CAMERA, AN AUDIO SUCH AS TURN SIGNAL NOISES ARE SILENT. I HAVE TO RESET MY CAR BY HOLDING BOTH SCROLL WHEELS ON THE STEERING WHEEL TO RETURN FUNCTIONALITY.
LEFT FRONT SUSPENSION FORE LINK BROKEN /DEFECTIVE. IT WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT
DRIVER FRONT SUSPENSION FAILURE OCCURED WHILE IN REVERSE TO PARK AT TESLA SUPERCHARGER.
WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, I HEAD A SNAP SOUND FROM THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE. THE CARE WAS NOT STABLE. I WAS GOING AT A LOW SPEED OF 25-28 MILES PER HOUR IN A SLIGHTLY HILLY AREA. I THOUGHT IT WAS A TIRE BURST AND PARKED ON THE SIDE. NOTICED THE READ PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL HAS TILTED. I GOT THE CAR TOWED TO TESLA FACTORY AND GOT IT REPAIRED. COSTED ME $2513. TESLA WAS NOT ABLE TO EXPLAIN FOR CERTAIN WHAT HAPPENED. I HEARD THERE WERE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS OF THIS NATURE.
I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE 5 TIMES STARTING IN OCTOBER FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THE PROBLEM I AM HAVING IS MY MEDIA CONTROL UNIT CUTS OUT / GOES BLACK AND RESETS ITSELF. IT DOES THIS RANDOMLY INCLUDING WHEN I AM DRIVING THE VEHICLE. WHILE THIS DOES NOT IMMEDIATELY IMPACT MY ABILITY TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE IT IS DISTRACTING WHEN THIS HAPPENS WHILE I AM DRIVING. TESLA HAS ISSUED SOME ADVISORY ABOUT AN KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE MCU, BUT THEY CONTINUE TO TELL ME THAT A FIRMWARE UPDATE WILL RESOLVE THIS OR TO DO A HARD RESET ON THE SYSTEM TO RESOLVE THIS. THE HARD RESET TAKES 3 - 5 MINUTES TO RESET AND IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE SOLUTION IN MY OPINION. I HAVE ATTACHED THE INVOICES WITH NOTES FROM THE SERVICE CENTER / TECHNICIANS FROM WHEN MY VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT IN TO SERVICE.
THE CAR HAS A DEFECT MCU. ALL SAFETY FEATURE OF THE CAR HAS BEEN DISABLED. I CAN NOT CONTROL CLIMATE CONTROL. I HAVE LOST MY REAR VIEW CAMERA. I CAN NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES TO ANY SETTING TO MY CAR. I CANNOT TURN OFF MY CAR AND MY CAR IS CONSTANTLY ON. I HAVE TO PULL FUSES TO SHUT OFF CERTAIN ASPECTS OF MY CAR OR MY BATTERY WILL HAVE SIGNIFICANT DRAIN WHILE PARKED. I HAVE BROUGHT MY CAR INTO THE A TESLA SERVICE CENTER TO HAVE THE ISSUE REPAIRED. THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS AND KEEP DELAYING THE REPAIR. THE DEFECTIVE MCU IS A KNOW ISSUE, I AM SURPRISED TESLA WILL NOT REPLACE THE UNIT WITH A NON DEFECTIVE UNIT AND WILL ONLY REPLACE IT WITH REFURBISHED PARTS. ALSO, FOR A KNOW DEFECT THAT AFFECTS THE SAFETY OF THE CAR, WHY WONT TESLA KEEP AN AMPLE STOCKPILE OF BOARDS TO REPAIR THE ISSUE. ALL THEY ARE DOING IS PUSHING THE ISSUE FURTHER DOWN THE LINK WITHOUT ANY INTENTION TO PROPERLY FIX THE DEFECTIVE MCU.
MCU GETS STUCK AND BACK UP CAMERA DOESN'T COME UP. ONCE MCU WENT BLANK AND THE CAR DIDNT GO INTO DRIVE MODE WHILE TRYING TO DRIVE AND TOOK A WHILE TO GO TO DRIVE MODE AND NO REAR BACK UP CAMERA AT THE SAME TIME. ONE TIME WHEN THE MCU IS REBOOTING, WHILE I WAS IT WAS IN REVERSE AND THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY GOT STUCK DISPLAYING R, WHILE I SWITCHED FOR D DRIVE MODE AND THE CAR WAS GOING FORWARD BUT DISPLAY SHOWING R, IF I WASNT PAYING ATTENTION WOULD HAVE HIT SOMETHING.
PRIOR TO 10/2/2020 NUMEROUS REBOOTS USUALLY AFTER BEING PARKED. HAD TO WAIT EXCESSIVE TIME SINCE I HAD PIN TO DRIVE ENABLED. DISABLED PIN TO DRIVE SINCE I WAS GETTING STUCK. IT IS EMBARRASSING AND NOT A GOOD REFLECTION ON TESLA PRODUCTS TO HAVE TO WAIT 5 MINUTES TO MOVE YOUR CAR. SOMETHING IS WRONG. 10/2/2020 WHILE DRIVING ON I 40 NOTED THERE WAS A LACK OF TURN SIGNAL SOUNDS. NOTED NAVIGATION DID NOT SEEM TO BE UPDATING TO CURRENT POSITION. WHILE ON AUTOPILOT THE CAR STARTED TO DRIFT TOWARD AN EXIT. THE AUTOPILOT HAD DISENGAGED WITH NO WARNING SOUND' NOTHING. CONTINUED TO STEER MANUALLY. SCREEN WENT BLACK. AC STOPPED. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES THE SCREEN REBOOTED. HAD TO RE-INPUT DESTINATION. 10/3/2020. WENT TO ASHLAND NC SUPERCHARGER TO TOP OFF BEFORE GETTING ON THE BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY. WAS ONLY GETTING 4 KW TO START FINALLY GIVING UP AFTER 30 MINUTES ACHIEVING A MAXIMUM OF 10KW. WHEN I UNPLUGGED I GOT A WARNING "REDUCED POWER, SYSTEMS SHUTTING DOWN. SERVICE REQUIRED. VEHICLE MAY NOT START". THE SCREEN WENT BLACK AND AFTER TIME FINALLY RESTARTED AND I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE. LATER IN CHEROKEE NC THE SCREEN AGAIN REBOOTED AFTER CHARGING AT A J1772 STATION. 10/4/2020. WHILE DRIVING WITH ON I95 NEAR ST AUGUSTINE I NOTED THE LOSS OF TURN SIGNAL SOUND AGAIN. THE NAVIGATION WAS FROZEN AGAIN. AGAIN THERE WAS NO SOUND OR WARNING DISENGAGING OR ENGAGING AUTOPILOT. THE SCREEN WENT BLACK. THE AC WENT OFF. I OBSERVED THE TESLA T COME UP THEN THE SCREEN WENT BLACK AGAIN. THEN THE TESLA T CAME UP A SECOND TIME AND AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES THE CONTROLS STARTED WORKING AGAIN. AGAIN AT NOV 19@ 7:03 PM: DRIVING WEST IN I-4 STANFORD, FL. SAME AS ON 10/2. LOSS OF AUTOPILOT, LOSS OF TURN SIGNAL SOUND, LOSS OF CLIMATE CONTROL, LOSS OF MUSIC. TOOK 6 MINUTES TO REBOOT. TOOK AN ADDITIONAL 5 MINUTES FOR NAVIGATION TO RESTORE. THERE ARE MORE INSTANCES BUT I AM OUT OF CHARACTERS.
THE VCM MALFUNCTION IS CAUSING MY CAR TO SOMETIMES NOT EVEN TURN ON AND IT HAS BEEN OVER 6 MONTHS SINCE I STARTED HAVING THIS PROBLEM AND STILL IT'S NOT FIXED.
TESLA MODEL S CENTER TOUCHSCREEN AND ASSOCIATED ASSISTANCE &INFORTAINMENT FEATURES HAVE BECOME UNSTABLE AND PERFORM CORRECTLY ONLY INTERMITTENTLY. WOULD HAVE CHECKED MORE BOXES ABOVE IN TERMS OF SYSTEMS AFFECTED BUT ONLY ALLOWED 3. BACKUP CAMERA SLOW TO COME UP (WHEN WORKING). SYSTEM SHUTDOWNS AND REBOOTS OCCUR WHILE DRIVING AND PARKED. BACKUP CAMERA, CLIMATE CONTROL, DEFOGGING SYSTEMS, HEAD LIGHT CONTROL, VEHICLE LOCK/UNLOCK, TURN SIGNAL INDICATOR NOICE, AND ALL DRIVER ASSISTANCE SUCH AS AUTOMATIC BREAKING, ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, NAVIGATION ETC ARE AFFECTED WHEN THIS OCCURS. VARIETY OF ERRORS WITH ENTIRE TOUCHSCREEN SYSTEM INCLUDING LACK OF RESPONSE TO VOICE COMMANDS, PHONE CONNECTIONS AND AUDIO CONTROLS OCCUR NEARLY EVERY DAY WHETHER CONNECTED TO WIFI, LTE, DRIVING OR STATIONARY. AUDIO SYSTEM WILL SOMETIMES CHANGE VOLUME WHEN THESE ERRORS OCCUR OR WILL BE UNAVAILABLE TO CHANGE TO A SAFER VOLUME. ISSUES HAVE BEEN OCCURRING FOR THE PAST YEAR AT LEAST BUT HAVE BECOME MUCH WORSE OVER TIME. HAVE REPEATEDLY BROUGHT UP THESE CONCERNS WITH MANUFACTURER WHO STATES SYSTEM IS PERFORMING ACCORDING TO MANUFACTURER STANDARDS AND/OR "KNOWN FIRMWARE ISSUE". THESE ISSUES ABSOLUTELY AFFECT DRIVING SAFETY.
OCTOBER 1, 2020: TOUCHSCREEN -- DRIVING/STREET: HEATER SPEED CAN NOT BE ADJUSTED ON THE TOUCHSCREEN. OCTOBER 14, 2020: TOUCHSCREEN -- DRIVING/HIGHWAY: ON TOP OF DRIVING MAP A HOLOGRAM FROM OTHER FUNCTION APPEARS OCTOBER 26, 2020: TOUCHSCREEN -- STATIONARY: WHEN EVER CHARGING HOME OR ON THE ROAD OR AT SUPERCHARGING, TOUCHSCREEN IS PIXELATED AND SHOWS RANDOM/WEIRD SCREEN NOT RESPONDING. NO REPAIRS WERE DONE AT THE SHOP AFTER THEY'VE BEEN NOTIFIED MULTIPLE TIMES. THEY ATTEMPTED TO INSTALL UPDATES; DISCONNECT AND RECONNECT 12V BATTERY; AND I WAS TOLD TO REBOOTED THE CAR EVERY TIME IT DID HAPPENED AND EVERY TIME THE ISSUE HAVE COME BACK.
THE EMMC FLASH MEMORY IS FAILING, LEADING TO THE MAIN SCREEN BLACKING OUT FOR SEVERAL MINUTES HAPPENS RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING AND WHEN AT STOP AND WHEN THE CAR IS BOOTING UP. THIS PREVENTS ADJUSTMENT OF SEVERAL COMPONENTS INCLUDING CLIMATE CONTROL, MANUAL LIGHTING, CRUISE CONTROL/AUTOPILOT, MUSIC IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR OVER A MONTH, PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE. SERVICE CAME OUT TO JUST RESET THE 12V AND UPDATE THE SOFTWARE AND SAID EVERYTHING IS GOOD BUT IT DEFINITELY IS NOT BECAUSE ITS GETTING WORSE DAY BY DAY
MY INSTRUMENT PANEL AND BIG SCREEN GOES OUT AND IT STARTS TO BOOT LOOP WHILE I'M EITHER DRIVING OR WHEN I GET IN AND I TRY AND DRIVE OFF. MY TURN SIGNALS DON'T WORK AND I CAN'T SEE MY SPEED.
I UNDERSTAND THE NHTSA IS PRESENTLY INVESTIGATING ISSUES WITH THE EMMC WITHIN THE MCU (I.E., THE TOUCHSCREEN). MY VEHICLE HAS RECENTLY EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE AND I WOULD BE HAPPY TO TALK TO AN INVESTIGATOR ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE.
MAIN CONTROL UNIT (MCU)HAS SHUT DOWN SEVERAL TIMES. THE SCREEN HAS GONE BLACK AND NAVIGATION FUNCTIONS AND MAPS DISAPPEARED. INCONVENIENCE MORE THAN ANYTHING THERE. I HAVE LOST THE BACKUP CAMERA AND DEFROST FUNCTIONS. THE CAR HAS REMAINED PRETTY MUCH DRIVABLE THOUGH I DON'T THINK I HAD TURN SIGNALS (OR AT LEAST THE INDICATION ON DASH). THE CAR HAS BEEN BOTH STATIONARY AND MOVING WHEN THESE THINGS HAPPENED.
THE CENTER TOUCHSCREEN DISPLAY IS FAILING. THIS DISPLAY CONTROLS MOST FUNCTIONS OF THE VEHICLE FROM CLIMATE CONTROL TO ENTERTAINMENT. CURRENTLY, I AM UNABLE TO ACTIVE THE REAR DEFROSTER OR ADJUST THE CLIMATE CONTROLS. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THE PROBLEMS WILL GET WORSE OVER TIME.
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AT ABOUT 30-35 MPH IN A HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION ZONE, AND I HEARD A BANG, VEHICLE LOST CONTROL AND WAS SENT OFF THE ROAD. WHEN I INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AFTER THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP, I NOTICED THE FORE LINK/FORWARD CONTROL ARM WAS LOOSE. THE STUD THAT HELD THE BALL JOINT TO THE STEERING KNUCKLE HAD BEEN SHEERED OFF.
THE EMMC FLASH MEMORY IS FAILING, LEADING TO THE MAIN SCREEN BLACKING OUT FOR SEVERAL MINUTES BOTH WHILE DRIVING AND WHEN AT STOP AND WHEN THE CAR IS BOOTING UP. THIS PREVENTS ADJUSTMENT OF SEVERAL COMPONENTS INCLUDING CLIMATE (FANS, DEFOG, AC), MANUAL LIGHTING, CRUISE CONTROL/AUTOPILOT, ETC. IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR OVER A MONTH, PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE. TESLA IS TELLING US WE HAVE TO REPLACE THE FLASH MEMORY (~$500, BUT THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THE PROBLEM WON'T REOCCUR), OR REPLACE OR UPGRADE THE MCU (~$1500-2500). THE CAR WAS RECENTLY UPGRADED TO FULL SELF DRIVE HARDWARE (PAID FOR IN 2016) AND OTHERS HAVE REPORTED THAT THIS CONTRIBUTES TO THE MEMORY DYING, SO WE CONTEND THIS DESIGN FLAW SHOULD BE REPAIRED BY TESLA FOR FREE.
MY TESLA HAS HAD SEVERAL INSTANCES WHERE THE TOUCH SCREEN BLANKS WHILE DRIVING. SOME ARE FOR 30 SECONDS OR LESS, BUT ONE LASTED ABOUT 5 MINUTES. A LOT OF FUNCTIONS ARE LOST DURING THIS TIME AND WARNINGS AS WELL. I TOOK MY CAR TO TESLA BUT THEY ONLY DID A RESET THAT WAS NO HELP. TWICE I SET UP AN APPOINTMENT FOR THIS PROBLEM, BUT BOTH TIMES THEY SAID THEY REMOTELY CHECKED MY CAR AND SEE NO ISSUES. I RECEIVED AN EMAIL FROM TESLA EXTENDING MY WARRANTY COVERING MALFUNCTION OF A MEMORY CHIP (EMBEDDED MULTIMEDIACARD). ACCORDING TO TESLA, THIS MALFUNCTION MAY RESULT IN A BLANK OR INTERMITTENTLY BLANK TOUCHSCREEN BUT WILL NOT IMPACT THE ABILITY TO DRIVE YOUR CAR. THIS IS EXACTLY MY PROBLEM, BUT WHEN I CONTACTED TESLA THEY SAY THIS IS NOT THE PROBLEM MY CAR HAS. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A DRIVING HAZARD AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED IMMEDIATELY.

CAR KEEPS SHUTTING OFF. PAID $7K FOR FULL SELF DRIVING. TESLA REFUSES TO CHANGE CHIP TO MCU 2 WITHOUT PAYING $2500 PLUS TAX. MCU1 FAILS WITH CAR SHUTTING OFF, NOT STARTING AT ALL, PHONE DISCONNECTED, APP DISCONNECTED, AC DEAD. YOU MUST FORCE TESLA TO CHANGE TO MCU2 AT NO COST.
WHILE BACKING OUT OF MY GARAGE THE FRONT LEFT LOWER CONTROL LINK BROKE CAUSING THE WHEEL TO JAM AGAINST THE INNER WHEEL WELL LINER. THE CAR HAD TO BE LOADED ON A FLAT BED TOW TRUCK AND TRANSPORTED TO THE TESLA REPAIR SHOP IN SLAT LAKE CITY. TESLA REPLACED BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT LOWER CONTROL LINKS FOR A COST OF. THE CAR HAD 50,000 MILES AND NEVER HIT ANYTHING TO CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SUSPENSION. NORMAL HARD SURFACE ROAD USE. REPAIRED BY TESLA 8/2/2020.
MY PARKING BRAKE ACTUATOR HAS FAILED. TESLA HAS REFUSED TO REPLACE IT UNDER THE RECALL. THEY CLAIM THAT MY CAR WAS BUILT ONE MONTH AFTER THE RECALL ENDED, AND IS NOT IMPACTED. HOWEVER WHEN ASKED FOR THE DIFFERENT PART#'S THEY DID NOT PROVIDE HOW THEY DETERMINED MY PARKING BRAKE WAS NOT AFFECTED. I TRIED TO WORK WITH THEIR MANAGEMENT AND THEY CONTINUE TO DECLINE REPLACEMENT. MY CAR WAS BUILT IN 2016 NOVEMBER. IT IS HIGHLY UNLIKELY THAT A CUT IN AT THE FACTORY OCCURRED THAT QUICKLY THAT THEY DIDN'T USE THE DEFECTIVE PARTS DURING THIS TIME.
While backing out of a parking spot, I turned my wheels and went over a small depression in the drive for drainage. As my front tires went through the dip I heard a loud clank like something had broken. Then every bump I went over there was a knocking near the driver's side front tire. I took it in to Tesla and the service agent knew exactly right away what had happened because he said he has seen the same exact thing several times before. They explained that it was unsafe to drive and needed to be fix it immediately. When given the estimate they said only the driver's side Fore Link assembly broke but would need to replace both sides. I got a bill for $2150.61.
WHEN VEHICLE IS STATIONARY, FRONT PASSENGER USES A SEAT-BELT TO FASTEN. AFTER IT LATCHES ON AND PASSENGER LEANS FORWARD, IT LOCKS AND THE PASSANGER IS NO LONGER ABLE TO MOVE FORWARD NO BACKWARD. THE CAR IS STILL STATIONARY AND NOT TURNED ON. PASSENGER CAN NO LONGER MOVE. ON A DRIVER SIDE IT HAPPENS ONLY WHEN CAR IS MOVING AND THE BRAKES ARE PRESSED; IT LOCKS THE DRIVER BUT ALWAYS RELEASES IT. ANY CAR THAT WE OWN OR DRIVEN DOES EXACTLY THAT. THAT ISSUE WAS BROUGHT UP EVERY VISIT TO REPAIR SHOP AND EVERY TIME IT WAS NOT FIXED. WE WERE EDUCATED ON HOW TO BUCKLE THE SEAT-BELT. FROM INVOICE: CONCERN: SEATS - CUSTOMER STATES: SEAT BELT CONTINUES TO LOCKED. CAN BE REPRODUCED. CUSTOMER DEMONSTRATED CONCERN TO TECHNICIAN. FOUND SEAT BELT LOCKING AS DESIGNED WHEN PULLED ALL THE WAY OUT. NO REPAIRS NECESSARY OR ATTEMPTED. CORRECTION: GENERAL DIAGNOSIS - NO TROUBLE FOUND
DISPLAY BLANKED OUT. TURN SIGNALS, SOUND FROM CAR, AND OTHERS DID NOT WORK. THIS HAPPENED A COUPLE OF TIMES. CAR DROVE OK EXCEPT FOR DOUBT ABOUT WHAT WAS WORKING. WAS ABLE TO FIX IT BY GOING TO INTERNET AT HOME AND PERFORMING VARIOUS TECHNIQUES.
THE TESLA MODEL S PURCHASED, HAS BEEN RECEIVED WITH MULTIPLE SAFETY CONCERNS. 1) SUPENSION FORE LINKS & ALT LINKS NEED REPLACEMENT DUE TO CORROSION 2)POWER STEER FAULT - RIGHT TOE LINK HAS EXCESSIVW CORROSION & WEAR REPLACEMENT NEEDED. 3) RIGHT AXCEL BOOT LEAKING, CLEVIS MOUNT, RIGHT & LEFT AXEL REPLACEMENT REQUIRED. TOTAL LABOUR EXCEEDS OVER $9,000. THIS VEHICLE ORIGINATED AND MANUFACTURED IN USA WAS IMPORTED TO CANADA. THERE ARE SAFETY CONCERNS BEYOND THIS, THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE AND FEATURES MANY CONCERNS. DRIVING ON RESIDENTIAL ROADS THE SUSPENSION DROPS UNEXPECTEDLY, DURING HIGH SPEEDS THE VEHICLE PULLS TO THE SIDE. PARKING ASSIST & PARKING BREAK INACTIVE. VARIOUS SUSPENSION CONCERNS LEAVE THIS "LUXURY" VEHICLE PARKED IMMOBILIZED.
I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY IN-LAWS PARKING SPACE. I HAD THE WHEEL TURNED AND AS I WENT OVER A SMALL DIP I HEARD A LOUD CLUNK. IT SOUNDED LIKE SOMETHING BROKE SOMEWHERE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT END. I DROVE IT HOME AND WHEN I WOULD GO OVER SOME BUMPS I COULD A KNOCKING / CLUNKING SOUND, LIKE SOMETHING WAS HITTING TOGETHER BUT ONLY ON THE BUMPS. I BROUGHT MY CAR INTO THE TESLA SERVICE CENTER. I DESCRIBE WHAT HAPPENED AND THEY SAID THAT THIS WAS A COMMON THING. I COMMUTE 100 MILES ON THE HIGHWAY EVERYDAY TO WORK SO I HAVE 115, 000 MILES AND MY WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. TESLA SENT ME AS ESTIMATE FOR THE WORK AND IT WAS $2150.67. WHEN LOOKING AT IT I NOTICED THAT THEY WERE REPLACING BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE FORE LINK ASSEMBLY. I ASKED THEM WHY IF IT WAS ONLY THE LEFT SIDE (DRIVERS) THAT BROKE AND TESLA SAID THAT THEY CAN'T JUST REPLACE ONE SIDE, THEY NEED TO REPLACE BOTH. I NEEDED MY CAR SO I PAID THE FULL AMOUNT.
ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS THE CAR ACCELERATED ON IT'S OWN. ON AUGUST 5TH 2020 IT ACCELERATED WHILE IT WAS BEING PARKED RESULTING IN DAMAGE TO THE CAR. ON OCTOBER 30TH, 2020 THE CAR ACCELERATED AFTER I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR FOR APPROXIMATELY 20-30 YARDS.
PASSENGER DOOR AUTOMATICALLY OPENED WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET. NO PASSENGER WAS OCCUPYING THE SEAT.

The contact owns a 2016 Tesla Model S. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the center console failed to operate as needed without warning. The contact also stated that the side mirrors would independently fold in without warning. The contact then received a recall notice for NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V035000 (Back Over Prevention, Visibility, Exterior Lighting). The contact called several service centers in relation to the recall and was informed that parts to do the recall repair were not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
MEDIA CONTROL UNIT (MCU) STOOPED WORKING DUE TO A CHIP FAILURE. THIS RESULTED IN A BLANK MAIN SCREEN (WHICH CONTROLS MANY FUNCTIONS OF THE CAR). THE AC DID NOT WORK, NOT DID THE TURN SIGNALS, OR REVERSE CAMERA. I HAD THE FAULTY CHIP REPAIRED AT MY EXPENSE AND CAR FUNCTIONS FINE NOW. TESLA IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE, AND IS UNWILLING TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR SOMETHING THAT CAN CLEARLY CREATE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE.
MY MAIN CENTER DISPLAY WENT BLANK. FAILED TO COME BACK AFTER MULTIPLE REBOOT ATTEMPTS. CLIMATE CONTROL, GPS, SUSPENSION, BACKUP CAMERA, AND MOST FUNCTIONALITY LOST. FIRST NOTICED WHEN STATIONARY IN MY GARAGE.

MCU1 SCREEN CONSTANTLY REBOOTS TAKING AWAY ALL CONTROLS FROM THE DRIVER. HAPPENS MULTIPLE TIMES. WHEN SCREEN BLACKS OUT IT WILL LAST HOURS OR DAYS AND YOU ARE UNABLE TO CONTROL ANYTHING INSIDE THE CAR AS IT IS THE MAIN UNIT THAT CONTROLS ALL ITEMS INSIDE THE CAR.
THE MAIN COMPUTER TURNS RIGHT OFF A COUPLE TIMES A DAY. WHEN THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING, MOST SAFETY FEATURES ARE DISABLED AND THE CARS ELECTRONIC STOP WORKING. THE CPU IS KNOWN TO HAVE ISSUES BECAUSE A CHIP INSIDE GETS OVERLOADED AND DOES NOT CLEAR ITSELF PROPERLY. A RECALL SHOULD BE HAD TO REPLACE THIS CHIP THAT DOES NOT REMOVE THE CASHE PROPERLY.

ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM HAS, UNCOMMANDEDLY, ACTIVATED ON FULL VOLUME AND UNABLE TO REDUCE/MUTE. BLUETOOTH LINK DISCONNECTED FROM PHONE ELIMINATING HANDSFREE ABILITY MID-CALL. MCU (MEDIA CONTROL UNIT)/MAINSCREEN HAS REBOOTED ON ITS OWN, WITH HIGH OUTSIDE HEAT, PHOENIX, ARIZONA< SHUTTING OFF CABIN COOLING FOR AS LONG AS 5 MINUTES. THESE ARE PRIMARY SAFETY CONCERNS AND MAJOR DISTRACTIONS. ADDITIONALLY, THERE IS FREQUENT LOSS OF GPS/NAVIGATION POSITION, FALSE AURAL WARNINGS AND SOMETIMES A COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE MCU THAT A RESET SOMETIMES/TEMPORARILY CLEARS. THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE THE SUMMER THROUGH NOW BOTH LOCALLY WITHIN THE PHOENIX, ARIZONA AREA, PARTS OF NORTHERN ARIZONA, NEVADA AND CALIFORNIA AT DIFFERENT TIMES, ELEVATIONS, CLIMATES AND TIME OF DAY. HANDLE ON PASSENGER SIDE FAILED, COULD NOT OPEN DOOR. TOUCHSCREEN FAILURE, LOSS OF ALL SYSTEMS EXCEPT BASIC DRIVING FUNCTIONS, THIS HAPPENED AFTER TURNING ON CLIMATE MODE. NOW CLIMATE MODE IS CONSTANTLY ON RUNNING THE A/C FOR THE LAST 2 WEEKS
THIS ISSUE HAPPENED OUT OF NOWHERE, NO COLLISION, NO POTHOLES, AND NO EXTERIOR FORCE. ALL OF A SUDDEN I NOTICED A CLANGING NOISE IN THE FRONT LEFT WHEEL HOUSING. THIS ONLY HAPPENS WHEN GOING AT LOW SPEEDS (5 TO 15 MPH). THIS NOISE IS ESPECIALLY APPARENT WHEN GOING OVER SPEED BUMPS OR UP/DOWN DRIVEWAYS. FEW DAYS AGO I NEAR A VERY VERY LOUD BANG NOISE FROM THE FRONT AND ALL OF A SUDDEN WHEN I BACK UP THE CAR THE WHEEL WAS SCRAPPING AGAINST THE INNER LINNING AND WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL ALL THE WAY. THEN I PARKED AND NOTICED THE WHEEL WAS OFF CENTER (SEE PICTURE). I TOOK IT TO THE SERVICE CENTER AND ATTACHED BELOW IS THE ESTIMATE. ONLY THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE HAD THE ISSUE, BUT THE ESTIMATE INCLUDES A REPLACEMENT OF THE PARTS FOR BOTH FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE. REASON FOR REPLACING BOTH IS THE PARTS BEING REPLACED ARE UPDATED PARTS. THIS IS A SAFTEY CONCERN BECAUSE IF GOING AT HIGHER SPEED AND THESE PARTS WILL FAIL WILL CAUSE THE CAR TO LOOSE CONTROL.
UPON ENTERING THE VEHICLE, THE TOUCHSCREEN REMAINED BLANK AND THE A/C WAS BLOWING. THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY WAS WORKING AND THE CAR WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN. THE SPEED CONTROL AND AUTO ASSIST FUNCTIONS WERE ABLE TO BE ENGAGED, BUT DID NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS DID NOT FUNCTION WHILE DRIVING AND THE A/C DID NOT TURN OFF AFTER LEAVING THE VEHICLE. THE PHONE APP WAS NOT ABLE TO CONNECT TO THE VEHICLE AS WELL. WE DO NOT KNOW WHY THE TOUCHSCREEN FAILED TO WORK. THE CAR WAS DRIVEN DIRECTLY TO THE TESLA DEALER AND LEFT TO BE EVALUATED.
