Back-up camera went out along with blind spot camera. All camera inoperable. Front research this appears to be an issue with the computers in 2024 late year Model Y's built in the Tesla Fremont factory.
With the new teslas (not sure about all but I know on the model y ). There is no way to reduce or turn off regenerative braking. Which on snow covered roads makes the car want to go into a skid. Only way to get around it is to force the car in to nutral ( also not great but better than the other option). Then use brakes so it slowed all wheels evenly.
My computer has failed. No cameras work including the rear camera. It no longer has cruise control, keeps me in my lane, or has blind spot detection.
I WAS TOLD BY TESLA THAT A COMPUTER SYSTEM UPDATE INSTALLED BY TESLA BURNED OUT THE AP4 COMPUTER ON THE CAR. THIS AFFECTS ALL CAMERAS, NAVIGATION, AUTOMATIC LIGHTS AND MUCH MORE
Around Dec 16 all cameras in my 2024 Model Y Tesla stopped working and it has not worked since that date. This affects many systems, the most important of which is that I now have no rear backup camera. I believe vehicle manufacturers are required to have functioning back up cameras. I notified Tesla service on 12/16 and was told there was a known computer hardware problem which would cause my incident. Tesla service told me they were unable to obtain the needed computer replacement for a month at least. They informed me there was no safety risk, but I disagree since I don’t have a functioning back up camera, nor lane change camera assistance. Also the display panel is very dark and impossible to read most of the time, posing another safety concern. Why has Tesla not issued a public statement about this problem, and why has NHTSA not mandated a formal recall?
On 12/16/2024 my vehicle received software update 2024.39.15, after installing the update i went to the grocery store and noticed nothing was working in the car except basic driving functionality. cameras were showing up as a black screen. TACC, aurosteer and FSD supervised were no longer working as well as AEB,FCW,BSM,LDW,LKAS and the gps had me in the middle of the ocean, headlights on during broad daylight. I informed a service center by my home and they simply didn’t care, i took it to another service center 50 minutes away and they took two days to do repairs and diagnostics, i was told the computer had shorted out and the technician replaced the car computer and AI4 (HW4) computer system which runs safety features. A software update physically pushed from tesla should not be shorting out computers on its vehicles, i heavily rely on the cameras and safety features since living in a state where nobody knows how to drive (lol). I hope my vehicle is fixed and this issue doesn’t persist anymore.
Vehicle Information: • Make: Tesla • Model: Model Y • Year: 2024 Description of the Problem: After a software update pushed by Tesla, the AP4 computer in my 2024 Tesla Model Y shorted out, causing a complete failure of all systems controlled by this computer. The following safety-critical and driver-assist features have become non-functional: Cruise Control (adaptive or otherwise) Back up Camera Forward Collision Warning Lane Departure Warning Lane Keeping Assistance Blind Spot Warning Parking Collision Warning Full Self-Driving and Auto Park features Cameras required for Autopilot functionality Additionally, because the GPS system has failed, the vehicle’s Navigation system is inoperable. This impacts Tesla’s unique route planning feature that sets up Supercharger stops during long journeys. Without a functioning navigation system, I cannot properly plan my travel or locate charging stations, which severely affects the usability of the vehicle. Safety Concerns: The failure of these systems, especially safety features like forward collision warning, lane keeping assistance, and blind spot monitoring, puts both the driver and others on the road at risk. Losing access to safety-critical functions after an update is unacceptable and poses a serious danger to vehicle occupants and surrounding traffic. Incident Details: • The issue occurred immediately following a software update. • Tesla pushed the update remotely without providing any warning or indication of potential risks. • The failure appears to be related to a hardware short in the AP4 computer, directly caused or exacerbated by the update. Desired Outcome: • A thorough investigation into Tesla’s software update process and its effect on vehicle hardware and safety systems. • A resolution that prevents similar failures in other vehicles and ensures system updates do not compromise vehicle safety or critical functionality.
Navigation is frozen. No cameras work. No full self driving features work. No cruise control.

I was driving at a speed of 60 miles per hour in rainy weather when the car’s emergency braking system suddenly activated. At the same time, the steering wheel locked due to the braking, and I completely lost control of the vehicle. The car spun multiple times before crashing into the center divider of the highway and finally coming to a stop. This was an extremely dangerous incident from a safety perspective. This was the first time such a braking malfunction occurred. The incident has not yet been investigated by the insurance company, and no warning or notification was displayed by the vehicle at any point.
I initially visited the Milford, CT Tesla Service Department and communicated through the Tesla Ap on 12/14/2024 regarding my 2024 Tesla Model Y, which has only 2,357 miles on it. The car's cameras, sensors, & navigation stopped working, making driving unsafe. Now, the bright lights do not go on. The vehicle's camera/sensors are critical for safe operation. Tesla said the car may need a new computer, but they have none in stock. They texted me that they have many people facing the same issues.
The display went black. I reset it. It came back but none of the cameras work.
After a recent software update - all Cameras/Sensors/Cruise Control/ADAS systems are no longer functioning.
Widespread issues acknowledged privately by Tesla service managers, advisors, and engineers. Affects all models built from July 2024 to present with most recent “AP4” computer and hardware, primarily out of Fremont factory. Suddenly, computer is short circuiting. This results in MULTIPLE systems failing given effectively ALL systems are dependent upon this “AP4” computer and hardware, and initially causes GPS and Camera sensors to fail also. This system failure includes: -federally required rear view vision system -adaptive cruise control -automatic emergency braking -blind spot warning -forward collision warning -lane departure warning -lane keeping assistance -parking collision warning -rear cross traffic warning -visibility and wiper systems -all external lighting systems -speed control Internally, Tesla service advisors and managers are being told to advise customers that vehicles can be safely driven until fixed - which is currently diagnosed to be a removal and replacement of this “AP4”, which is heavily supply chain restricted. Customers are being told to wait “weeks” - with estimations in January and February - for this to be fixed. Service Advisors and managers are being told to not acknowledge clear safety concerns given vehicles are no longer compliant with all applicable federal laws and regulations, such as those requiring rear view vision field of view expansion, etc. Further, internally Sales advisors and Managers are being told to continue heavily pushing sales to meet record sales targets to impact stock price. Several private conversations regarding ethical concerns of pushing noncompliant and known defective vehicles for stock value and potential criminality. Service advisors and managers also privately concerned regarding legal liability of impacted and defective vehicles in accident, given Tesla is communicating to continue driving. My own personal vehicle has been impacted, and information above has been gathered privately.
All the cameras on the car failed. There is no rear view backup camera. There are no side cameras. GPS doesn't work. The headlights go crazy during the day or night. Flashing brights and blinding people on the road. I need to manually adjust the lights every time. The screen will stay in dark mode during the day. And day mode during night. There is no cruise control, warning systems, etc.
All cameras on the car are currently "unavailable" and does not display anything. The lack of cameras impact the ability to see the rear when going into reverse since the rear camera is not functioning. No forward collision warning, no automatic emergency braking and no parking collision warning because all rely on the cameras to function.
All of the camera systems are not working (inlcuding the back-up camera), and navigation has failed as well. Followed all instructions on Telsa Manual and website, with no luck. Saftey features promised by the manufacturer don't work because of this. No warnings have appeared. I have scheduled service,at the soonest available time slot of December 27th, but I'm concerned about this happening with a brand new vehicle with on 2,015 miles on it and a 12-day wait doesn't seem acceptable for something that affects safety.
Hello , I just bought the new Tesla Model Y 2024 in the October and all of a sudden all the driver assistance programs are not working, including the Rear Camera(Reverse camera) I took it for the service on December 4th and they fixed issue on December 5th. After few days on December 13th the same issue happened again and Tesla service center is saying I need to wait till February 20th 2025 for the repair. All cameras are not working in the car, it does not show any backup camera, No forward collision warnings or no lane change assist Tesla is not considering this as a safety issue I am including a chat summary with the service center via PDF file. I have included previous repair invoice also when the same issue happened on 4th December
On 12/13/24 after a software update my rear , front and side cameras stopped working. This includes blind spot cameras, and side turn signals. In addition the side mirrors are tiny because the car was designed to use cameras. The back window also has very low visibility. Tesla has confirmed that the car needs a new computer for all cameras and software navigation. The replacement computers are on back order and have scheduled a service replacement in six weeks time. In the meantime, they refuse to provide a loaner car. This car is brand new with only two months worth of usage. They say the car is drive able, but without the main safety cameras I don’t feel safe, the aesthetic of the car was designed to have working cameras. It is very hard to use the tiny side view mirrors and look out the tilted rear window. This is a commuter car, driving over 90 miles on highway per day. I am concerned for safety issues.

Tesla has told me the AP4 computer has failed in my car which has resulted in them having to replace it. I had this issue start right around Thanksgiving. I scheduled the soonest appointment available at 12/24 however Tesla contacted me and moved my appointment because they stated that the part was unavailable at this time and should be delivered by 01/20/25. Not offering me a rental or anything on my brand new '24 Tesla. It has just over 4000 miles on it and is ~2 months old now. This issue impacts: emergency braking, blind spot detection, lane keep/centering, assisting with parking, automatic high beams and wipers, cruise control/ adaptive cruise control, Vehicles built in GPS to be stuck at one location every time, has made my touchscreen not automatically brighten or dim, my auto dimming mirrors be too dim in most driving conditions, constantly fail to install system improvements and safety updates, and because my vehicle keeps trying to do this, it has caused increased battery drain as well. This has increased the safety risk of my vehicle tremendously... Tesla has not seemed to publicly acknowledge the issue yet either.
Bought my Tesla Model Y on [XXX]. Exactly one month later on [XXX] I start my car to find that none of the cameras are working. This means Autopilot, cruise control, rear camera, blind spot monitoring and many more safety features are completely down. In addition the GPS does not function meaning my car is not trackable and Maps don't work, another safety concern and main reason we bought the car. This is a widespread issue that Tesla Service Centers have been informed about from Tesla that it is a bad computer that needs to be replaced - in a 1 MONTH old car. My only option is to wait for a computer to be assigned to me which is at earliest on January 21st of 2025, almost 6 weeks without a fully functioning brand new $46,000 Car with only 1400 miles on it. Tesla are also unwilling to make any kind of restitution such as a loaner car, or a refund for the Full Self Drive and Connectivity packages I just purchased but cannot use as my car is broken. All cameras stopped working. Blind spot detection not working. Blinkers stopped working. No parking assist. Auto wipers . Adas not working. Screen auto brightness not working. Clicking when letting off accelerator. We damaged our tire and rim due to this issue.
After a software update pushed by Tesla, the AP4 computer in my 2024 Tesla Model Y shorted out, causing a complete failure of all safety systems controlled by this computer. The following safety-critical and driver-assist features have become non-functional: 1.Cruise Control (adaptive or otherwise) 2.Forward Collision Warning 3.Lane Departure Warning 4.Lane Keeping Assistance 5.Blind Spot Warning 6.Parking Collision Warning 7.Full Self-Driving and Auto Park features 8.Cameras required for Autopilot functionality 9. Auto headlight dim / Auto wiper system 10. BACK UP CAMERA RENDERED INOPERABLE Additionally, because the GPS system has failed, the vehicle’s Navigation system is inoperable. This impacts Tesla’s unique route planning feature that sets up Supercharger stops during long journeys. Without a functioning navigation system, I cannot properly plan my travel or locate charging stations, which severely affects the usability of the vehicle. This system also initiates preconditioning of the battery (heats it up to be able to charge), so super charging is extremely slow without the gps system availability. Rear visibility in the car is very limited without the federally required backup camera. Incident Details: • The issue occurred immediately following a software update. • Tesla pushed the update remotely without providing any warning or indication of potential risks. • The failure appears to be related to a hardware short in the AP4 computer, directly caused or exacerbated by the update.

All adas options no longer work. Everything related to the cameras on my car are not working including rear view camera.
Unknown. Cameras don’t work, cruise control doesn’t work, gps doesn’t work. Internet says it’s ap4 computer shorted after recent update.
Cameras have stopped working completely. Unable to use rear collision warning capability. Additionally, lane departure capabilities are not working. Navigation is unavailable.

Several malfunctions: all cameras including rear cameras were disabled, high beams would flash on and off continuously when in auto mode. Front Passenger safety restraint failure alert message that eventually turned off. The car continuously has a humming noise even after turned off. Navigation system was not operable.
All the Cameras on the vehicle were unavailable starting today (12/08), including the Rear view Camera. The vehicle was not drivable and no cruise control was working.
The autopilot computer failed. This has rendered all safety systems and camera on the vehicle inactive, including the rear view camera, all forward and side cameras so no active safety systems are functioning. This includes crash avoidance, lane keeping, blind spot warning, cruise control, and rear camera during reverse, the vehicle is nearly impossible to reverse as the view is terrible with no cameras.
The contact owns a 2024 Tesla Model Y. The contact stated while driving 55-60 MPH through a light road mist with the Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised Mode engaged, a message that the FSD Supervised Mode was running on Degraded Mode due to climatic conditions was displayed. Additionally, an audible warning advising to take over immediately because the FSD was disengaged was sounded. The contact was able to take control of the vehicle and continued driving. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times while driving in inclement and rainy weather. Additionally, the contact stated while driving with FSD Supervised Mode and approaching a stopped vehicle, the vehicle failed to stop. The contact took control and was able to stop the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 17,000.
According to Tesla the AI4 computer experienced an internal short circuit. This has rendered all cameras including backup camera, GPS, parking sensors, and automatic wipers inoperable. The visibility out of the vehicle is very poor to the rear without the backup camera. Parking without the rear camera and parking sensors is difficult. Not having physical controls for the wipers makes turning them on/off and changing speeds difficult, causing a lot of drivers distraction.
After a software update pushed by Tesla, the AP4 computer in my 2024 Tesla Model Y shorted out, causing a complete failure of all systems controlled by this computer. None of cameras on my vehicle are now viewable. Due to the design of the vehicle, reversing without having a backup camera functional is a hazardous event. Also, the following safety-critical and driver-assist features have become non-functional: -Cruise Control (adaptive or otherwise) -Forward Collision Warning -Lane Departure Warning -Lane Keeping Assistance -Blind Spot Warning -Parking Collision Warning -Full Self-Driving and Auto Park features -Cameras required for Autopilot functionality -GPS system has failed, the vehicle’s Navigation system is inoperable. Safety Concerns: The failure of these systems, especially safety features like forward collision warning, lane keeping assistance, and blind spot monitoring, puts both the driver and others on the road at risk. Without a backup camera, the risk of causing injury to people or property is greatly increased. All of the cameras on the vehicle are no longer working after the latest update. This means all sensors (even as simple as windshield wipers) do not work. All driver safety assistance does not work.
Car computer is no longer functioning properly. GPS is malfunctioning. Unable to auto dim cabin. All cameras are not working. Blind spot function is not working.
All Cameras, including backup camera stopped working on the car. This has also disabled Cruise Control, automatic breaking, and lane departure. There was no warning that these features would stop working
Cameras don’t work, lane keep don’t work, blind sport don’t work. Car is unsafe to drive.
They advertise it as a computer failure. The cruise control doesn't work, none of the cameras displays, causing me to hit the lawnmower in my garage. Other functions as navigation, range prediction, and automatic light/dark display switching don't work either.
Electrical short in AP4.1 computer. Renders the camera system inoperable. Unable to backup without cameras.
After latest Tesla software upgrade, all cameras and GPS stops working. All automatic functionalities of the car stops working without cameras, and it is really unsafe to drive, for example back up the car since the physical rear view mirror is very small, and car is naturally designed with those cameras to function properly.
Vehicle cameras stopped working. Navigation stopped working. Screen also stopped working for a time. Was able to get it back on but it went off multiple times since. If I can't see the screen, I can't tell how fast I'm going to do anything else. Cameras control many of not all of the safety systems. So those are all inoperable. Issue is being reported across multiple forums all over the internet as "short in ap4 module."
AP4 computer failure has led to navigation, cameras, blind spot monitoring, lane departure and other systems being inoperable. Tesla has stated they don’t have the parts to fix and have pushed out my service repair time twice already. Issue reported on December 4th, since then no time table for repair has been given. Tesla keeps stating the car is operable, leaving out the facts it’s dangerous to drive due to small rear windows and blind spots based on the cars design to work with operable cameras that give the drive clearer angles to view.
Starting on 12/4/2024, my car's camera stopped working, no blind spot warning, no navigation, no rear view camera and no cruise control. Reported to Tesla on 12/8 and they said it is a known problem nationwide and some Autopilot computers are getting shut or something. They have given me an appointment for 1/4/2025. The vehicle is really unsafe to drive without these components working and the vehicle draws on heavy amount of battery usage without these controls and for my commute on highway, I am always nervous about if there is going to be enough for me to reach the next charging station. I would expect this falls into safety recall and Tesla should at least send out a service bulletin as well as provide alternate vehicles for the owners to use until this can be fixed.
The backup camera has failed. There is no image available. Additionally all of the ADAS systems are no longer working. I am not able to see nor hear any warning messages.
2024 Tesla Model Y. All cameras and GPS used for safety and convenience features suddenly stopped working. Everything was working when vehicle parked for the evening, next morning cameras and GPS stopped working. No accident or other incident associated with it. No longer able to use: Backup Camera Automatic Cruise Control (including Full Self Drive (Supervised)) Blind Spot warning when changing lanes. Navigation Parking Collision Warning Automatic Braking There is concern with safety of vehicle overall since many of the safety features rely on Tesla cameras.
All cameras stopped working. With this, all safety features are not working. I can’t see to back up at night. No collision avoidance, no lane departure warning, high beams don’t stay on, turn signal doesn’t stay on. It has been two weeks and Tesla has no fix. There was no warning, just noticed it one day as I was driving it and was very dangerous in dark snowy conditions. I called Tesla service immediately and they gave me an appointment for following week. Then next day I got message from them that there are a large number of vehicles having the issue and they said they don’t have a fix for it and moved my appt out 7 weeks. I have gotten no help from them and I told them I don’t feel safe driving the car. They have not provided another car.
All Cameras not working with latest Software update - told need new AP4 computer on 2024 model Y which is 2 months old. Tesla service advisor states - car is totally safe to drive with just mirrors till appointment in few weeks. No backup camera, navigation, battery life dying faster. It seems like a liability to me to drive this way and very negligent to me.
