DESIGN OF POWER STEERING FLUID RESERVIOR FAILED, CAUSING LEAKAGE, DUE TO SPLIT SEAM. *YC
THE CAR ACCIDENT INVOLVED ANOTHER VEHICLE WHICH ILLEGALLY TURNED IN FRONT OF MY WIFE'S CAR AS SHE PROCEED THROUGH AN INTERSECTION. AS A RESULT, THE FRONT CENTER OF MY WIFE'S CAR HIT THE OTHER WOMAN'S CAR AT THE RIGHT FORNT CORNER, CAUSING EXCESSIVE DAMAGE TO THE CENTER FRONTAL SECTION OF HER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY, AND EVEN THE BODY SHOP OWNER IS WONDERING WHY, AS NATURALLY AM I. I DO NOT WANT THE DEALER OR MANUFACTURER TO BE ABLE TO "COVER UP" WHAT MAY BE A VERY SERIOUS FAILURE OF THE SAFETY SYSTEM OF THIS CAR, AND POTENTIALLY CAUSE MORE SERIOUS HARM TO UNSUSPECTING TOYOTA CAR OWNERS. I WANT TO KNOW IF IT SHOULD HAVE GONE OFF.
WHILE DRIVING THE BRAKES ARE WHINNING..THE DEALER INSERTED A BRAKE KIT FOR STOPPING POWER, AND THE BRAKES STILL DON'T WORK. *AK
WHILE DRIVING, THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED WITHOUT WARNING, AS A RESULT, THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN WITHOUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION FOR FIVE HOURS. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB

WHEN SOMEONE GETS OUT OF THE PASSENGER OR DRIVER SIDE FRONT OR BACK OF VEHICLE AND LOCKS THE DOOR BEHIND THEM, IF ANYONE IS LEFT INSIDE VEHICLE, HE COULD NOT GET OUT FROM THE INSIDE, DOOR LOCKS, THEY WOULD NEED KEYS OR THE TRANSMITTER. *AK

WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT ANY WARNING, THEN THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE. CAUSE UNKNOWN. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
WHENEVER IT RAINS OR SNOWS DEFOGGER WILL JUST STOPPED WORKING. WINDOWS FOGGED UP, AND IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE CLEARLY. CONSUMER FELT THIS WAS VERY UNSAFE. *AK ALSO WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER ON TO ASSIST WITH THE HEATER, THE AIR CONDITIONER LIGHT FLASHED AND THE AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED WORKING. MOIST WEATHER AND DRIVING OVER WATER PUDDLES POSSIBLY CAUSED ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER AND DEFOGGER. *TT

NOISY SUSPENSION FRONT & REAR. ROADWAY BUMPS CAUSE THE FRONT SUSPENSION SYSTEM TO MAKE A BANGING AND BUMPING NOISE. THE FRONT STRUTS HAD REPLACEMENT MOUNTS INSTALLED BUT DID NOT ELIMINATE THE BANGING AND BUMPING NOISE FROM THE FRONT STRUTS. THE REAR STRUTS BOTTOM OUT WITH MINOR BUMPS IN A ROADWAY. THE CASE IS IN ARBITRATION WITH TOYOTA AND TOYOTA IS AGAIN TO REPLACE THE FRONT STRUT MOUNTS WITH A NEWER 2ND GENERATION REPLACEMENT STRUT MOUNT. TOYOTA IS GOING TO REPLACE BOTH REAR STRUTS WITH REPLACMENT STRUTS. AT THIS TIME THE WORK HAS NOT BEEN CONDUCTED SO I DO NOT KNOW WHETHER THE 2ND GENERATION STRUT MOUNTS AND REPLACEMENT STRUTS FOR THE REAR WILL ELINIMATE THE SUSPENSION NOISE. I'VE TOLD TOYOTA I BELIEVE THE STRUT SYSTEM IS BADLY DESIGNED AND THAT THE ENTIRE SUSPENSION SYSTEM IS WEAK. IF TOYOTA'S ADDITIONAL ACTIONS DON'T STOP THE BUMPING NOISE, THE CASE GOES BACK TO ARBITRATION WITH TOYOTA.

THE CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT END COLLISION DUE TO A FAILURE IN THE BRAKES. THE CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL WAS PRESSD DOWN TO THE FLOORBOARD. AS A RESULT, THE CONSUMER RAN INTO A CEMENT WALL AND WAS INJURED. A HIGHWAY PATROL OFFICER WAS PRESENT AND NOTED IN THE REPORT THAT THE ACCIDENT COULD HAVE BEEN CAUSED BECAUSE THE THROTTLE WAS STUCK. MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION WHILE APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT RESULTING IN THE DRIVER HITTING A CEMENT BARRIER, INJURING HER BACK AND BREAKING HER WRIST.
WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES AND STOPPING TO TURN A CORNER THERE IS A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE BRAKES. THE PEDAL IS SOFT, AND IF THE BRAKES DON'T STOP THE VEHICLE DRIVER HAS TO PRESS THE BRAKES AGAIN UNTIL CAN GET THE VEHICLE TO COME TO A STOP. THE DEALER SAID THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. *AK

WITH 11,000 MILES ON VEHICLE THERE WAS A RUBBING NOISE COMING FROM VEHICLE WHEN BRAKE SYSTEM WAS ACTIVATED. DEALERSHIP SERVICED VEHICLE UNDER A SERVICE BULLETIN. THEN, AT APPROXIMATELY 50,000 MILES ON AUGUST 23, 2001 FRONT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS HAD TO BE REPLACED BY DEALERSHIP DUE TO A RUBBING NOISE DURING BRAKE APPLICATION. ALSO AT 54,000 MILES ON JANUARY 22, 2002 REAR BRAKE DRUMS FAILED,AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / DOCUMENTATION. *AK

CONSUMER WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH ON A WET ROAD, VEHICLE HYDROPLANED, CONSUMER LOST CONTROL AND STRUCK A GUARDRAIL. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DEALER/MANUFACTURER NOTIFIED. *AK
