OXYGEN SENSOR FAILURE CAUSED CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF SOMETIMES IT STAYS LONGER. YH
WHILE DRIVING 30-35MPH DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S AIRBAG SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED. HAD A FRONTAL IMPACT AND BOTH AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, WHICH DID NOT PROTECT THE OCCUPANT IN THIS ACCIDENT. DEALER STATED THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY BECAUSE THE SENSORS ARE LOCATED IN DASH PANEL. *AK

EITHER THE FRAME IS OUT OF LINE OR SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE FRONT END ALIGNMENT PARTS AS THE FRONT END CANNOT BE ALIGNED ACCORDING TO SPECS. THEY REPLACED BOLTS IN THE FRONT END FOR ALIGNMENT & THIS DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM OF FRONT END SHIMMY AND TIRE WEAR.

THE VEHICLE SUN ROOF LEAKS, CAUSING THE RAIN TO COME INTO THE VEHICLE AND MAY CAUSE ELECTRICAL DAMAGE IN THE VEHICLE. DEALER CLAIMS "IT DESIGNED TO LEAK". WATER CREATES PROBLEMS WITH SEAT BELT OPERATION. DEALER REFUSES TO REPAIR. *AK *ML
SINCE PURCHASING MY 98 TOYOTA CAMRY 10/3/97, I HAVE TWO SEPARATE INCIDENTS WHEREAS MY BRAKES DID SQUEAK & SQUEAL WHEN STOPPING. BROUGHT MY CAR INTO TOYOTA ON TWO SEPARATE OCCIAISIONS AND WAS TOLD BY DEALERSHIP THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF A BRAKE PROBLEM, AND WOULD PROVIDE A TEMPORARY QUICK FIX UNTIL THE MFGR RECALLED THE CAMRY'S. I'VE HAD FT PADS & MACHINE ROTORS & REAR BRAKES ADJUSTED 2-3 TIMES IN 98. I'VE PAID $300+ TOWARDS THIS SERVICE TO MY NEW CAR AND THERE IS STILL NO RESOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM. DID ADVISE DEALERSHIP THAT I WILL BY ANOTHER CAR, BUT IT WILL NOT BE A TOYOTA CAMRY. I'LL BEGIN PURCHASING HONDA PRODUCTS BEGINNING IN 99 AND WILL NOT GO BACK TO TOYOTA AFTER BEING A FAITHFUL CUSTOMER FOR OVER 10+ YEARS.

VEHICLE EX.PERIENCING PROBLEM WITH COLUMN SHIFT;WHENEVER SHIFTING INTO DRIVE A CLICK SOUNDS CAME FROM THE COLUMN. ALSO WHEN APPLYING BRAKES, AND PEDAL RETURNED TO POSITION, A POPPING SOUND COULD BE HEARD, AND PEDAL WOULD BE LOOSE. CONDITION APPEARED TO GET WORSE AFTER VEHICLE HAD BEEN SITTING STILL FOUR FIVE DAYS OR MORE. MANUFACTURER NOTIFIED, AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT SOMEONE WOULD CONTACT HIM BACK,BUT NO WORDS ( MFR. COMPLAINT #199909280711). ASKING NHTSA HELP IN THIS MATTER.*AK

I BOUGHT MY CAR NEW IN MAY 1998. I HAD THE BRAKES REPLACED AT LEAST 3 TIMES THE FIRST TIME BEING 11/8/99. I HAVE COMPLAINED SEVERAL TIMES OF FRONT END NOISE, CAR DRIFTING, AND STEERING VIBRATIONS. EACH TIME I WAS TOLD IT WAS EITHER INCORRECT TIRE PRESSURE, OUT OF BALANCE OR ALIGNMENT. MOST OF THE TIME I WAS TOLD THE NOISE IS NORMAL ROAD NOISE AND THE DRIFTING IS NORMAL DRIFTING. I THINK SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS. MY CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. I BOUGHT A NEW CAR TO AVOID HAVING TO PAY FOR ALL THESE EXPENSIVE REPAIRS AND BECAUSE I HAD A 7 MONTH OLD BABY. I NOW HAVE TWO CHILDREN AND SOMETIMES I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THEM IN MY CAR. MY CAR STILL MAKES THE NOISE, DRIFTS, STEERING WHEEL VIBRATIONS. I HAVE EVEN REPORTED CLUNKING NOISES FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR AND WAS TOLD IT NEEDED TO BE GREASED OR THE BOLTS TIGHTENED. IT SEEMS TOYOTA HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM ALL ALONG AND DECIDED TO DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. TOYOTA SHOULD BE FORCED TO FIX ALL THE VEHICLES WITH THIS CONDITION. IT SHOULDN'T TAKE SOMEONE'S DEATH BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE. I AM A FIRST TOYOTA BUYER AND VERY DISAPPOINTED. I CAN NOT AFFORD TO FIX A SUSPENSION SYSTEM THAT WAS DEFECTIVE AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE, NOR SHOULD I HAVE TO FOR A $20,000 CAR THAT IS BARELY 5 YEARS OLD WITH ONLY 53,000 MILES ON IT. I THOUGHT THE MECHANICS WERE RIGHT ABOUT NORMAL NOISE UNTIL I SAW ALL THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SUSPENSION SYSTEM. PLEASE HELP. THANK YOU. JB

WHILE ON A TRIP, A GRINDING SOUND CAME FROM THE TRANSMISSION. I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTURAL AND MOVED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THERE I OBSERVED TRANSMISSION OIL POURING OUT OF THE TRANSMISSION. *AK
WHEN PUSHING THE BRAKE PEDAL BRAKES MAKE A LOUD NOISE, THERE IS ALSO EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. TWO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN DONE, DEALER STATES THEY WILL NOT REPAIR AGAIN BECAUSE IT IS THE DESIGN OF THE MODEL. *AK

REPLACED AIR FUEL SENSOR AND OXYGEN SENSOR TWICE.
WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT WITH THE LOW BEAM LIGHTS ON THERE IS A BLIND SPOT IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE, MAKING IT DIFFICULT FOR CONSUMER TO SEE THE ROAD. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
WHEN THERE ARE PASSENGERS IN THE BACK SEATS, AND VEHICLEGOES OVER A SPEED BUMP, THE BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE HITS THE GROUND. *AK
ABOUT 20 FEET OUT FROM HEAD OF DRIVER THE RIGHT HEADLIGHT CREATES A SHADOW IN FRONT OF VEHICLE ABOUT 20' TO 40' FRONT CENTER OF LINE TO RIGHT SHOULDER. IT IS MUCH WORSE ON BRIGHT LIGHTS. DEALER CONTACTED AND WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. ADJUSTMENTS MADE, PROBLEM COULD NT BE REMEDIED. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *AK
ANTI-LOCK BRAKE ACTUATOR WAS REPLACED BY THE AUTOBODY SHOP WHICH REPAIRED THE ACCIDENT DAMAGE.
FULL SIZE SPARE TIRE WAS OVERINFLATED TO ABOUT 50 PSI. THIS GENERAL HP 400 TIRE MAXIMUM PRESSURE RATING PRINTED ON TIRE WALL IS 44 PSI. THE OWNER'S MANUAL INDICATED TIRE SHOULD BE INFLATED TO 32 PSI. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE IF TIRE EXPLODES IN TRUNK OR FAILS ON THE ROAD. *AK
WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE PEDAL IS SOFT. THE BRAKES MAKE A LOT OF NOISE, AND TAKE TOO LONG TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THIS HAPPENS ON ANY TYPE OF ROAD SURFACE DURING NORMAL BRAKING. DEALER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. A BRAKE KIT HAS BEEN ORDERED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *AK
LEFT SIDE INTERIOR PANEL DOES NOT FIT TIGHTLY. YH
TIRES WOBBLE/VIBRATE 70-75MPH BEING THE WORST. MULTIPLE TRIPS TO DEALER. 6 TIRES REPLACED. MULTIPLE TIME BALANCING TIRES. LATEST RESULT - PER DEALER "WE CAN'T FIX BECAUSE IT HAPPENS WITH SPEEDS OVER 65MPH AND TOYOTA WILL NOT AUTHORIZE REPAIRS ON ISSUES OCCURING OVER 65 MPH. ALSO, BRAKES MAKE BAD GRINDING NOISE AND SQUEEKS FORWARD/REVERSE - ADVISED IT IS BECUASE OF THE MATERIAL OF THE PADS. PADS CHANGED ONCE AND HAVE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES, BUT HAVE LEFT LONG SKID MARK WITH ONE TIRE AND CAR PULL TO THE SIDE. *AK
AFTER MINOR VEHICLE COLLISION THE VEHICLE ENGINE COMPARTMENT CAUGHT ON FIRE.
ENGINE MALFUNCTION COMES ON REPEATEDLY INSPITE OF 5 ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR BY DEALER AND MANUFACTURER. *AK

CONSUMER COMPLAINED THAT BRAKING SYSTEM WOULD MAKE UNNECESSARY NOISE WHENEVER CONSUMER APPLIED BRAKES ON SHORT DISTANCE, A LOUD GRINDING SOUND. VEHICLE BEEN IN/OUT DEALER SHOP ON THREE OCCASIONS AND PROBLEM CANNOT BE RESOLVED. *AK
