ALL OF A SUDDEN VEHICLE WENT FULL THROTTLE, CAUSING OWNER TO LOSE CONTROL O VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE THEN INTO A BRICK WALL. APPLYING BRAKES HAD NO AFFECT ON STOPPING VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM WAS REPORTED TO MANUFACTURER. *AK
DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED WHILE DRIVING AT 40MPH WITHOUT ANY REASON. DRIVER WAS KNOCKED OUT, AND THE VEHICLE WENT OVER THE DIVIDER AND WAS HIT BY 2 OTHER CARS. DEALER HAS VEHICLE. *AK
THE VEHICLE AFTER CRUISE CONTROL WAS SET REPONDED WITH A CONTINUING OF SUDDEN ACCELERATION. NONE OF THE OPERATIONAL CONTROL SELECTIONS/ACCELERATE/ SET/COAST/OFF/RESUME AND ACCELERATE. WHEN ACTIVATED WOULD NOT ALTER THE CARS INTERNAL CONTROL. THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF, THEN TURNED BACK ON AND STILL NOTHING HAPPENEED. THE AUTOMATIC GEAR SHIFT WAS MOVED TO NEUTRAL AND THE ENGINE WENT IMMEDIATELY TO HIGH RPM'S (ABOVE 5,000 RPM). THERE WERE TWO INCIDENTS OF SUDDEN ACCELERATION THAT ON 2/03/99 ONE WAS ON THE FREEWAY. THE SECOND WAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC FLOW JUST AFTER PEAK HOUR. WEATHER AND DRIVING CONDITIONS WERE VERY GOODTO EXCELLENT..
THE TOYOTA DEALER SERVICE CENTER WHERE THEY INSTALLED THE CAR ALARM, THEY HAD TO CUT THE FIREWALL SEALS WHICH CAUSED THE EXHAUST FUMES AND ANY OTHER FUMES TO ENTER INTO THE VEHICLE, WHICH MAY MAKE OCCUPANT TO FEEL SICK. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
STRUT STARTED TO MAKE A CLICKING SOUND. DEALER FOUND STRUT LEAKING, AND REPLACED IT. CLICKING CONTINUED SO DEALER MADE MODIFICATIONS TO STRUT TOWER. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH VEHICLE ACCELERATED, BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND PEDAL WENT TO FLOORBOARD. VEHICLE WENT INTO AN INTERSECTION AND FRONTAL IMPACT INTO A HOUSE. DEALER CONTACTED AND IS NOT AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. VEHICLE WILL BE REPAIRED AT OWNERS EXPENSE. (2) AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY UPON IMPACT. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *AK.ET.
VEHICLE REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 45-50 MPH, AND BOTH AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. DRIVER RECEIVED WHIPLASH IN NECK AND LOWER BACK. DEALER / MANUFACTURER NOTIFIED. PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
DEALER HAS INFORMED ME THAT THE CHARCOAL CANISTER ASSEMBLY HAS BEEN A PERSISTENT PROBLEM. NEW PARTS ARE BEING MANUFACTURED. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR 2.5 WEEKS ALREADY AFTER THREE ATTEMPTS TO FIX IT. *AK

AIR BAG LIGHT WILL COME ON AND STAY ON, CONTACTED DEALER, AND EALER TRIED TO FIX AIR BAG, BUT THE REMEDY DID NOT WORK. SECOND TIME CONSUMER TOOK IT BACK TO TRY TO GET IT FIXED. CONSUMER HAS HAD VEHICLE IN SHOP THRREE TIMES. CONTACTED DEALER. *AK
STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES WHEN SPEEDS OF 65 MPH AND HIGHER,DEALER HAS ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR 4 TIMES AND PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED.
THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATE DURING ACCERALTION AT ALL SPEEDS. THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES AT NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS AT ALL SPEEDS. THE VIBRATIONS ARE AT THE GREATEST AT SPEEDS GREATER THAN 50 MPH. THE CAR WAS BROUGHT BACK TWICE TO THE DEALER AND EACH TIME IT WAS DISMISSED AS ROUNDING OF THE TIRES. TO THIS DAT ETHE CAR HAS APPROX 5600 MILES AND THE VIBRATION CONTINUES
ON FLAT ROADS,STEERING WHEEL BINDS OR LOCKS INTO A LEFT TURN REQUIRING DRIVER TO USE CLOCKWISE FORCE TO THE STEERING WHEEL TO RETURN IT & MAINTAIN VEHICLE ON (CENTER) STRAIGHT PATH.(STEERING WHEEL DOES NOT RETURN TO THE CENTER). IF I LET THE STEERING WHEEL GO, VEHICLE WILL TURN INTO THE LEFT LANE OR CENTER DIVIDER IN ABOUT 5 SECONDS. I AM AN OUTSIDE SALESPERSON AND ON TWO OCASSIONS I HAVE HAD TO SHARPLY STEER THE CAR AWAY FROM THE LEFT TO AVOID HITTING ONCOMING TRAFFIC,I HAD NO EXPECTATION THE CAR WOULD STEER ITSELF TO THE LEFT SO QUICKLY. I UNDERSTAND THAT SOLARA AND SIENNA SHARE SAME PLATFORM,POWERTRAIN & STEERING...SIENNAS HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM (ODI PE99-070) & OWNERS HAD NEW MODIFIED STEERING RACK GUIDES REPLACED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM & AND THAT THE SOLARA STEERING RACK HAS QUIETLY BEEN MODIFIED WITH NEW PART # 44250 06081. I TOOK MY SOLARA TO THE DEALER TO CHECK ALIGNMENT ABOUT 6 TIMES(FIRST TIME WHEN CAR HAD ABOUT 300 MILES), ROTATED, BALANCED TIRES,DEALER TOLD ME BRIDGESTONES POTENZA TIRES WERE TO BLAME,I REPLACED THEM WITH B.F.GOODRICH BUT THE STEERING WHEEL CONTINUES TO BIND OR LOCK INTO A LEFT TURN.
INDICATOR FOR THE POSITION OF THE GEAR SHIFT IS LOCATED ON THE FLOOR AND IS IMPOSSIBLE TO VIEW MOST OF THE TIME DUE TO ITS' SMALL SIZE AND IS INDISTINCT DUE TO REFLECTIONS IN THE PLEXIGLASS OCOVER ON THE CONSOLE.
SUDDEN ACCELERATION RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT.
BEGAN WITH A TICKING SOUND FROM UNDER THE CAR. THE TICKING SOUND WAS AUDIBLE WHILE THE CAR WAS IDLING, AND AFTER THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE 2/99. I TOOK IT TO DEALER 3-23-99. TECHNICIAN SAID IT WAS NORMAL TO OCCASONALLY HEAR THIS NOISE WHILE IDLING, BECAUSE OF THE HEAT PRODUCED BY THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. ALTHOUGH NOT NORMAL FOR IT TO CONTINUOUSLY MAKE THE NOISE THROUGHOUT TIME THE CAR IS ON. TECHNICIAN SAID HE WOULD ORDER AN ENTIRE NEW EXHAUST SYSTEM FOR THE CAR. THE PARTS ARE IN, AND REPLACEMENT IS SCHEDULED FOR MARCH 31, 1999, AT EVANS TOYOTA. I WAS TOLD IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL THEN. *AK

SERIES OF SIX OR MORE VIOLENT SWERVES INTO ADJACENT LANES INITIATED BY SWERVE TO AVOID POTHOLE. CONTROL LOSS WAS INAPPROPRIATE TO MANEUVER, POSING SIGNIFICANT DANGER.
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN HEAD-ON COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, DUAL AND SIDE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY WHICH COULD HAVE RESULTED IN INJURIES. *AK
THERE IS DISTORTION IN THE WINDSHIELD. WHEN DRIVING DURING THE DAYTIME. THIS CAUSES A TERRIBLE STRAIN ON DRIVER'S EYES, AND RESULTS IN HEADACHES. THE DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED, BUT IS NOT SURE WHAT CAN BE DONE TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM. *AK
WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS APPLIED IT GOES TO THE FLOOR, CAUSING EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE, BEFORE IT COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK

CONSUMER HAD A DEFECTIVE GAS TANK. WHEN SHE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IT WAS FINE. AS SOON AS THE GAS TANK IS THREE QUARTERS FULL IT MAKES CLUNKING NOISE. WHEN DEALER TEST DROVE VEHICLE IT HAD ALMOST NO GAS IN THE TANK. GAS TANK WA SREPLACED WITH A TANK FROM CAMRY ON 13/08/1999, AND IT STILL DOES THE SAME THING. *AK
THE FRONT HEADREST IS TOO BIG, DISABLING THE DRIVER'S REAR VISION, WHICH COULD CAUSE A VEHICLE CRASH. DEALER HAS NOT SEEN VEHICLE. *AK
WHEN APPLYING ABS BRAKES A LOUD NOISE OCCURS AND EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE OCCURS. DEALER CAN NOT IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
ON INCLINE OR HILL ,WHEN TAKING FOOT OFF BRAKE VEHICLE WILL BEGIN TO ROLL BACKWARDS ABOUT 20 FEET, CAUSING SAFETY HAZARD. *AK

WHEN BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED IT WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR, GIVING NO RESPONSE. IT WAS LIKE PEDAL WAS NEVER BEING PUSHED. VEHICLE WAS STILL MOVING AT FULL SPEED, AND WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN, RESULTING IN A REAR END COLLISION. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED.*AK
WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS APPLIED IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION, IT GOES TO THE FLOOR AND CAUSES A RUMBLE, BEFORE IT COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED.
WHILE PRESSING THE BRAKES VEHICLE CONTINUED TO TRAVEL ALSO, BRAKE WOULD PULSATE. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED, CAN'T REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATON. *AK
CONSUMER ENCOUNTERED A FRONT END COLLISION WHICH PUSHED THE FRONT HOOD BACK TOWARDS THE WINDSHIELD. BOTH DRIVER SIDE/ PASSENGER'S SIDE AIRBAG'S EXPERIECED NO DEPLOYMENT DURING COLLISION. PASSENGER OF THE VEHCILE SUFFERED A FRACTURED STERNUM. *AK

CONSUMER TRIED TO INSTALL A CHILD SAFETY SEAT INTO THE VEHICLES REAR SEAT, VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED WITH SWITCHABLE SEAT BELTS AND WHEN THE CHILD SEAT BECOMES SECURE AS TO NOT MOVE AN INCH EITHER WAY THE SWITCHABLE SEAT BELT RELEASES. *ET

SERIOUS UNSAFE VIBRATION AT 60MPH AND UP. DEALER HAS REPLACED TIRES 3 TIMES, BALANCED THE TIRES 5 TIMES AND PERFORMED ALIGNMENT. STILL HAS PROBLEMS. HAD A HIGHSPEED BALNCING PERFORMED TO NO AVAIL ALSO.
I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES, TAKEN IT BACK 4 TIMES, THEY GLAZED THE ROTERS. I CANNOT MAKE SAFE STOPS. BREAKS ARE GRINDING. ASKING FOR HELP BE FOR FATALITY TOLD OVER AND OVER NOTHING IS WRONG. THEY ARE WRONG. I PAID $1500.00 FOR CERTIFIED WARRANTY AND THEY STILL WON'T FIX MY BRAKES.
WE HAVE SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR. THE CAR HESITATES WHEN YOU TAKE OFF. THE DEALERSHIP HAS HAD IT (THIS WILL MAKE) 5 TIMES SINCE MARCH 31,1999. THEY HAVE HAD IT FOR WEEKS AT A TIME. THE BRAKES MAKE NOISES WHEN THEY ARE APPLIED. THEY SAID THEY REPLACED THE VENTS BUT WE STILL HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THEM. WE STILL, AFTER ALL THOSE TIMES IN THE SHOP, HAVE THE SAME ORGINAL PROBLEMS AS BEFORE WE EVER WENT TO THE SHOP. WE HAVE FOUND OUT THAT THEY HAVE EVEN LIED TO US WHEN WE WERE BUYING THE CAR. THEY TOLD US IT WAS A LIMITED EDITION AND IT ISN'T. THEY WERE THE ORGINAL OWNERS, THEY WERE NOT. THEY WON'T GIVE US THE NAME OF THE ORGINAL OWNER. (FOUND THIS OUT DURING ARBITRATION) THERE ARE SEVERAL THINGS WRONG WITH THIS CAR. AND CAN'T FIND ANY HELP ON THE SITUTATION. PLEASE ADVISE.
