THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT ROCKS WHEN ACCELERATING, AND TOYOTA HAS A TBS FOR THE 1999 MODEL, BUT IT DOESNT COVER MY CAR, MADE IN 9/99. THEY REFUSE TO REPLACE OR FIX THE ROCKING CHAIR, AND I FEEL THAT IT WILL EVENTUALLY FAIL WHILE DRIVING. PLEASE HELP WITH THIS PROBLEM.*AK
PASSENGER DOOR WINDOW WOULD OCCASIONALLY HIT THE DOOR FRAME WHEN BEING CLOSED, CAUSING A VIOLENT SHAKE AND LOUD HITTING NOISE. HAD TO BRING TO THE DEALER TWICE BEFORE I COULD GET IT FIXED.
THIS CAR HAS HAD A LEFT PULL SINCE DAY 1. THE TIRES HAVE BEEN ROTATED, 2 REPLACED, NVERTED, INSIDE OUT, ALIDNED, AND REALIGNED, AND NOTHING STOPS THIS DRIFT, WHICH BECOMES A STONG PULL AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. *AK
VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A FIRE WHILE TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY AT 40 MPH. FIRE WAS SEEN FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE ON DRIVER'S SIDE. VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER . *AK
A SNOW STORM HIT BOSTON ON 2/18/2000. AFTER WORK, I FOUND MY CAR HAVING DIFFICULTY LEAVING THE PARKING LOT IN WHICH THE EXIT IS A SLOPE. AS I WAS DRIVING HOME, THE CAR HAD TROUBLE CLIMBING UP EVERY SLOPE ALONG THE WAY. AT ONE POINT, WHEN I CAME TO A ST. *AK( DOT NUMBER: Y79L TIRE SIZE: 205/65R15 )
DURING A VERY HEAVY RAIN, I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE UP A MODERATELY STEEP HILL AT 40MPH. WITH A CONSTANT PRESSURE TO THE ACCELERATOR, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY BEGAN LOSING POWER AND SLIGHTLY DECELERATED. I INCREASED THE FOOT PRESSURE ON THE ACCELERATOR. THE ENGINE THEN 'WOUND UP' AND A HIGH PITCHED, CONSTANT WHINE CAME FROM IT. AT THE CREST OF THE HILL, THE RPMS DROPPED, THE WHINE CEASED, AND THE VEHICLE RESUMED ITS NORMAL ACCELERATION. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THAT, I HEARD A RATTLING NOISE FROM THE UNDERCARRIAGE AROUND THE FRONT DRIVER SEAT AREA. IT SOUNDED LIKE METAL BANGING ON METAL. IT STOPPED AFTER A FEW SECONDS. EARLIER IN THE EVENING, MY WIFE HAD DRIVEN THE VEHICLE IN THE SAME HEAVY RAIN AND NOTED THE SAME PROBLEMS WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH ON A LEVEL ROADWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS CHECKED BY THE DEALER ON 2/14, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ENGINE PROBLEM, NOR SAW ANY LOOSE COMPONENTS ON THE UNDERCARRIAGE. *AK
WHEN DRIVING AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED AND PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE WITH FOOT DEPRESSED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL VEHICLE CONTINUED TO MOVE, CAUSING UNWANTED ACCELERATION AND EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED THE DEALER. DEALER SAID THAT A BRAKE LIGHT WAS ON AND THAT THE COMPUTER CODES SAID BRAKE DEPRESSED AND FRONT WHEELS SPINNING, BUT WOULDN'T WRITE IT ON THE REPAIR TICKET FOR LEGAL REASONS. *AK *ML
THERE'S AN AREA ON REAR WINDOW THAT DOES NOT CLEAR WHEN DEFROSTER IS ON. THIS AFFECTS VISION FROM THIS SPACE. THIS PROBLEM ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
SUSPENSION IS TO LIGHT, WEIGHT OF THIS VEHICLE IS DISTRIBUTED POORLY WHICH IS ANOTHER REASON WHY THE FRONT END STARTS TO LIFT UP OVER 50MPH. THIS HAPPENS ONLY ON THE FREEWAY.
WHILE DRIVING AROUND 70 MPH, FRONT END SHIMMIES AND VIBRATES. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO TWO DEALERSHIPS FOUR TIMES. NEITHER DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN ABLE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
MICHELIN, 205/65R15, RADIAL TIRES, ORIGINAL TIRES, LEFT FRONT TIRE BLEWOUT WHILE DRIVING. IT WAS JUST SERVICED ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO.*AK THE DEALER COULD NOT FIND THE CAUSE FOR THE TIRE FAILURE, BUT BLAMES THE CUSTOMER. *YH
CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 65MPH ON HIGHWAY WHEN A DOG RAN IN FRONT OF VEHICLE IN TRAFFIC AND SHE VEERED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE, CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. CONSUMER'S HEAD HIT STEERING WHEEL, AND SHE LOST CONTROL, AND WENT INTO AN ENBANKMENT. VEHICLE FLIIPED TWICE. UPON IMPACT, DUAL AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY, AND CONSUMER SUFFERED HEAD INJURIES. *AK
BRAKE PEDAL COVER CAME OFF WHILE DRIVING, FTC#877-382-4357. *AK
THE GROVES IN THESE TIRE IS SO NARROW THAT THEY ALLOW THE SNOW TO FILL THEM UP. IT CREATES A SMOOTH SURFACE CAUSING AN EXTREMELY SLIPPERY CONDITION. ONLY EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLE IN THE WINTER.
TRANSMISSION LEAKING,SERVICE DEPT. REPLACED THE FRONT TRANSMISSION SEAL, SIX WEEKS LATER, FLUID ON THE DRIVEWAY AGAIN. SECOND REPAIR THE DEALER REPLACED FRONT SEAL AGAIN & THE TORQUE CONVERTOR.*ET
DEFECTIVE PAINT JOB. I BEGAN COMPLAINING RIGHT AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT LARGE SPOTS WERE THE CLEAR COAT HAS PEELED OFF, THEN THE PAINT, THEN THE BODY RUSTED THAT THESE WERE ROCK CHIPS, THEN THEY WERE CAUSED BY ACID RAIN. THE DEALER FIXED THE PROBLEM ON SOME SPOTS ONCE. THE PROBLEM CONTINUES TO HAPPEN AND GET WORSE. THE DISTRICT MANAGER WAS SUPPOSE TO CALL ME WHEN HE WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP NEXT. THAT WAS ALMOST A YEAR AGO. I AM TO DISCUSSED WITH THEM TO EVEN GO IN AGAIN. *LA
ONGOING PROBLEM WITH A CLUNKING SOUND COMING FROM REAR OF VEHICLE. NOTICED CLUNKING SOUND WOULD APPEAR INTERMITTENTLY BELOW A HALF OF TANK OF FUEL, AND ALWAYS BETWEEN HALF AND ALMOST FULL TANK OF FUEL. DEALER NOTIFIED, AND BELIEVED THE PROBLEM WAS IN THE SUSPENSION. REPAIRS MADE , BUT PROBLEM STILL OCCURRING.VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN TO DEALER ON ANOTHER OCCASION, AND CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE. MANUFACTURER NOTIFIED, AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT NO SOLUTION COULD BE FOUND. *AK
RE: DUNLOP SP SPORT 4000 TIRES, ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ON 2000 TOYOTA CAMRY PURCHASED NOV 1999. HE FINAL DIGITS OF THE DOT NUMBER ON ALL THE TIRES IS: 369. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT THESE DIGITS ARE SUPPOSED TO INDICATE THE DATE OF MANUFACTURE. BUT SURELY THAT DATE CANNOT BE THE 3RD WEEK OF 1969! SO MY COMPLAINT IS THAT THE TIRES DO NOT ACCURATELY INDICATE THE DATE OF MANUFACTURE.*AK

ON A MAIN STREET WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25-30 MPH, A VEHICLE AHEAD OF THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE HAD STOPPED TO TURN LEFT AND CONSUMER REAR ENDED THE VEHICLE IN FRONT. UPON IMPACT, NEITHER AIRBAG DEPLOYED. DRIVER'S SIDE AUTOMATIC SEAT BELT DIDN'T LOCK*AK
ABS SYSTEM LIGHT CAME IN. DEALER REPLACED ABS SYSTEM, BUT HAD ME DRIVE CAR WHILE SYSTEM WAS ON ORDER. BRAKES RESPONDED POORLY WITHOUT SYSTEM AND DIDN'T DRIVE DUE TO CONCERN OF FAILING BRAKE. REAR SYSTEM FAILED REAR STRUTS REPLACED . GAS TANK HAS LOUD THUD WHEN TANK FULL TO HALF TANK, THUD INTERMITENT WHEN TANK UNDER HALF. DEALER SAID CAR MAY JUST HAVE THUD/SIAD SOME CARS DESIGNED WITH BAFFLES THAT THUD
SEAT BELT WOULD COME ACROSS THE NECK WHEN USED, DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE LEAKING. NAR 07/28/2003.*MR THE VEHICLE SUNROOF LEAKED. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT SERVICE STATION SEVERAL TIMES FOR REPAIR BUT THE LEAK RECURS. THE VEHICLE TAIL LIGHT WAS INOPERATIVE. THE DEALER CLEANED THE CONNECTOR AND REPLACED THE BULB. THERE WAS A MUSTY ODOR COMING FORM THE A/C DUCT. THE DEALER ADDED FRIDGE FRESH. *NM

THE REAR SUSPENSION MAKES NOISES AT LOW SPEEDS. THE VEHICHLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER SIX TIMES AND THE STRUTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE.
WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED IN AN PANIC SITUATION PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR AND THE BRAKES DO NOT RESPOND. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED AND CLAIMS THERE IS NOT PROBLEM; WILL NOT REPAIR. *AK
WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS 3/4 OF A TANK FULL OR FULLER A THUMPING NOISE OCCURS IN THE FUEL TANK, CAUSE UNKNOWN, FUEL TANK HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE WHICH HAS NOT CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
THE VEHICLE SWERVES ON HIGHWAY DUE TO STEERING WHEEL DEFECT. YH
WHEN THE CAR IS PUT IN REVERSE AND THE BREAK RELEASED, THE CAR MOVES ITSELF WITHOUT TOUCHING THE GAS AT ALL. IT WILL CONTINUE TO GO AT A FAIRLY RAPID SPEED, UNTIL THE BREAK IS HIT AGAIN. IT WILL GO AT THIS SPEED FOR OVER 100 FEET. IT WAS REPORTED TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID "THEY ALL GO THAT WAY". IF A CHILD WAS WITHIN 20 FEET OF THE CAR THE CAR WOULD PROCED OVER THE CHILD. *AK
WHILE STOPPING AT LIGHT SHIFTED TO FIRST GEAR WITH BRAKE DEPRESSED, ENGINE IDLED HIGH, AND VEHICLE TOOK OFF. CONSUMER HAD TO TURN VHEICLE OFF TO STOP. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
CONSUMER HAS ONLY OWNED THE VEHICLE FOR 35 DAYS, PUT VEHICLE INTO PARK WITH VEHICLE STILL RUNNING. CONSUMER TOOK FOOT OFF THE BRAKE, AND SEVERAL MINUTES LATER, VEHICLE JUMPED BACKWARDS, HITTING A VEHICLE. HAD NOTICED GEAR SHIFTED TO REVERSE BY ITSELF. TRANSMISSION WAS LOCKED INTO REVERSE GEAR. CONSUMER PUT FOOT ON BRAKES AGAIN TRYINGTO SHIFT GEAR INTO DRIVE, BUT GEAR WOULD NOT MOVE.VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED FOWARD WITH FOOT STILL ON BRAKES. CONSUMER HAD TO PUMP BRAKES IN ORDER TO STOP ALMOST HITTING TWO PEDESTRIANS. DEALER CLAIMED THERE WAS NO DEFECT.*AK
WHEN DRIVING ON ROUGH ROAD SURFACE OR WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED THERE IS A VIBRATION IN FRONT END, CAUSING POOR VEHICLE CONTROL. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED DEALER, DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS.*AK
I HAVE CALLED AND LEFT MESSAGES ON THE DEALERS MANAGERS PHONE WITH NO RETURN CALL, HAVE WENT TO DEALERSHIP AND HE IS NOT AVAILABLE. AIR CONDITIONER IS VERY SMELLY, PASSENGER FRONT DOOR HARD TO OPEN-SOMETIMES DOESN'T, BRAKES SOUND AND FEELS STRANGE TO ME (MECHANIC DOESN'T THINK SO), WHEN KEY IS TAKEN FROM IGINTION IT IS HOT, TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED W/A REBUILT ONE.
MY SOLARA PULLS LEFT EVEN AFTER ALIGNMENT, ROTATION ETC! NOT A VERY SAFE FEATURE! I PARTICIPATE IN EDMUNDS SOLARA FORUM, AND MANY PEOPLE HAVE THIS PROBLEM. NEVER RESOLVED BY THE DEALER. THE SOLARA MAY SHARE PARTS WITH TOYOTA SIENNA, THAT HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM. I UNDERSTAND TOYOTA RECENTLY CHANGED A PART # FOR SOLARAS STEERING ASSEMBLY.
GEAR IS EASLY MOVED FROM DRIVE TO NEUTRAL WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE BUTTON ON GEAR SHIFT. DEALERSHIP/MANUFACTURER WERE CALLED ABOUT THE PROBLEM. DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THIS WAS A NORMAL CONDITION. *AK

THE AIR VENTS EMIT A FOUL ODOR COMPARABLE TO DIRTY OLD RAGS AS A RESULT OF MOLD, MILDEW AND BACTERIAL ACCUMULATION INITIATED BY MOISTURE THROUGHOUT THE SYSTEM, THIS UNHEALTHY CONDITION IS INTENSIFIED BY THE MORE COMPACT STRUCTURE OF THE NEW MODEL CARS DESIGNED WITH A REDUCED VENTILATION AREA. * NLM THE CONSUMER STATES THAT BACTERIAL FUMES FROM MOLD AND MILDEW CONDENSATION INSIDE THE VEHICLE'S VENTILATION AGGRAVATED HIS ALLERGIC CONDITION. THE CONSUMER WAS ASKING NHTSA TO INTERVENE IN THE DISPUTE THAT WAS UNFAIRLY DECIDE. *YH
VEHICLE HIT A POLE WHILE BACKING UP AT 1 MPH, BUMPER TORN AND DENTED ABOUT 3 INCHES FROM THE RIGHT, REINFORCING BAR DOES NOT EXTEND TO THE ENDS OF THE BUMPER, THE DESIGN OF THE BUMPER IS NOT SUFFICIENT AND RESULTED IN MORE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. *CJ
WHILE TRAVELING AT 50-55 MPH A TRACTOR TRAILER HIT CONSUMER'S VEHICLE, CAUSING CONSUMER TO RUN OFF ROAD, AND HITTING A WALL. CONSUMER HEAD HIT WINDSHIELD. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
WHILE DRIVING CONSUMER HAD DIFFICULTY CONTROLLING THE STEERING OF THE VEHICLE IT WOULD DRIFT ACROSS THE ROAD AND CONSUMER HAD TO FORCEFULLY CLUTCH THE STEERING WHEEL TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE, CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE IN TO BE INSPECTED, AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE TWO REAR TIRES WERE OUT OF ROUND THE TREAD ON TIRES WERE FINE, BUT MECHANIC FELT THAT TIRES WERE OF POOR QUALITY. WAS DRIVING VEHICLE AND THERE WAS A BREAK IN THE ROAD. A SPLIT SECOND LATER, ABS KICKED IN AND VEHICLE ACCELERATED. HAD NO WARNING IT WOULD HAPPENED. NEARLY HAD AN ACCIDENT. HAD TO PRESS ON BRAKES HARD TO STOP. *AK
CONSUMER WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH WHEN REARENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE, BUT DID NOT HAVE TIME TO APPLY BRAKES OR SLOW DOWN, DUAL AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY, CAUSING MINOR TO MODERATE INJURIES. MANUFACTURER WILL NOT SEND OUT AN INSPECTOR TO DETERMINE CAUSE.*AK
EXPERIENCING WHEEL ALIGNMENT PROBLEMS, VEHICLE PULLS SLIGHTLY TO THE LEFT, BECAUSE THE HIGHWAYS ARE SLANTED TO THE RIGHT. VEHICLE STILL PULLS TO THE LEFT.
