FRONT TIRES HAVE NO TREAD AFTER 20,000 MILES, TREAD SEPARATED AND ONE TIRE BLEWOUT ON HIGHWAY, FIRESTONE SAYS IT IS THE WRONG TIRE ON THE CAR AND TOYOTA SAYS IT IS FIRESTONE'S RESPONSIBILITY TO SUPPLY NEW TIRES. *AK (TIRESIZE: P205/65R15)
WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH THERE WAS VIBRATION IN FRONT END. VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN ON ITS OWN. SMOKE WAS COMING FROM FRONT PASSENGER'S WHEEL. DEALER REPLACED FRONT ROTORS AND TURNED DRUMS. *AK
MY CAR WAS HIT FROM BEHIND BY A GMC TRUCK, MY CAMRY TRUNK COLLAPSED, I WAS PULLED STRONGLY BACKWARD , MY DRIVER SEAT WAS BROKEN FALL DOWN TO A POSITION ABOUT 15 DEGREE FROM THE HORIZONTAL, MY LEFT HAND WHILE STILL HOLD STRONGLY BY REFLEX ON THE WHEEL WAS INJURED WHILE KEEPING ME VERTICAL. I THINK THE DRIVER SEAT ISN'T STRONG ENOUGH TO PROTECT THE DRIVER. I AM 205 LBS AND I DON'T THINK THAT IS TOO HEAVY TO CREATE ENOUGH FORCE TO BREAK THE DRIVER SEAT. I ALREADY REPORT THAT PROBLEM TO TOYOTA CUSTUMER SERVICE BUT THEY WILL ONLY CALL ME DURING THREE BUSINESS DAY IT MEANS BEFOR TUESDAY JULY 31. CONSUMERS WIFE WAS DRIVING AND PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT, AND VEHICLE ACCELERATED INTO A CEMENT BARRIER SURROUNDING A LIGHT POST. SHE WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 20 TO 25 MPH, AND BOTH FRONTAL AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. NO DETERMINATION HAS BEEN MADE AS TO WHY THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO FUNCTION. DRIVER EXPERIENCED WHIPLASH, AND WAS SEEKING FUTHER MEDICAL HELP FOR NECK PAIN. *AK *YD

THERE WERE 4 SKID MARKS ON ROAD, VEHICLE WENT SIDEWAYS WHILE BRAKING, ABS FAILED. VEHICLE WAS TOTALLED. TOYOTA STILL HAS NOT SENT INVESTIGATOR OUT TO LOOK AT VEHICLE. *AK CONSUMER TOOK PHOTOS OF VEHICLES AND ONE SHOWS THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE MOUNTING OF THE AIRBAG SENSOR WITH THE STEEL BEAM AND BUMPER ATTACHMENT BRACKET BENT UP SHOWING THE FORCE OF IMPACT. *SLC
WHILE DRIVING 60MPH ON INTERSTATE VEHICLE STARTED TO VIBRATE, CONSUMER TOOK EXIT, AND SLOWED DOWN TO 55 MPH, APPLIED BRAKES AND VEHICLE STARTED TO VIBRATE MORE. ANTI- LOCK BRAKES LOCKED UP ON RIGHT SIDE FIRST, CAUSING VEHICLE TO VEER TO RIGHT AND VEHICLE TO HIT SIX INCH CONCRETE CURBING, WENT THROUGH CHAIN LINK FENCE AND HIT A TREE.*AK AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND CONSUMER WAS INJURED WITH MANY INJURIES, CONSUMER TOOK PICTURES AND ONE SHOWS THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE MOUNTING OF THE AIRBAG SENSOR WITH THE STEEL BEAM AND BUMPER ATTACHMENT BRACKET BENT UP SHOWING THE FORCE OF THE IMPACT, CONSUMER IS CONCERNED THAT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT EXPERIENCE DEPLOYMENT. *SLC

WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ELECTRICAL SYSTEM BEGAN TO GO DOWN IE; LIGHTS AND AIR CONDITIONER FAILED. ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON, AND VEHICLE SHUTDOWN IN A ROLLING STOP. CONSUMER NOTICED SMOKE FROM ENGINE, AND WAS AT MECHANICAL AUTO SHOP. MECHANIC OPENED HOOD, AND REALIZED ENGINE WAS ON FIRE. POSITIVE SIDE OF BATTERY WAS COMPLETLY MELTED. HOLD DOWN CLAMP ON BATTERY MAY HAVE BROKEN, CAUSING BATTERY TO SLIDE AND OVERHEAT. *AK
THE INSURED WAS INFORMED THAT HER PARKED VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE, THE ESTIMATOR STATED THAT THE FIRE ORIGINATED FROM THE HEADLIGHT WIRING HARNESS OR RECEIVER DEHYDRATOR, THE TOYOTA DEALER STATED THAT THE FIRE MAY HAVE BEEN INTENTIONAL AND THEY COULD NOT ATTRIBUTE THE PROBLEM AS BEING ENGINE OR ELECTRICAL RELATED.*JB(CLAIM#53-C781-583)

AT 9,000 MILES VEHICLE VIBRATED WHILE TRAVELING 70 MPH. BRIDGESTONE/FIRESTONE REALIGNED FRONT END AND REBALANCED ALL THE TIRES. AT 12,846 MILES FRONT TWO TIRES WERE SHOWING SIGNS OF TREAD SEPARATION. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK TIRES ARE BRIDGESTONE POTENZA, P205/65R15 92H, DOT NUMBER Y79LEFA219, TWO TIRES EXPERIENCED TREAD SEPARATION, ANOTHER TIRE WAS BEGINNING TO SEPARATE, DEALER HAD BALANCED TIRES AND RE-ALIGNED WHEEL AT 12489 MILES, HOWEVER THIS DID NOT HELP. *SLC
CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET ABOUT 25MPH AND HEARD A NOISE, AND THE VEHICLE TOOK OFF. SHE APPLIED BRAKES, AND THE BRAKES DIDN'T STOP VEHICLE. VEHICLE STOPPED AFTER HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE. THERE WERE MINOR INJURIES . THE ENGINE BLEW UP. I HAVE REGULARLY CHANGED MY OWN OIL AT 6,000 MILE INTERVALS FOR THE PAST YEAR. THE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON AND I ADDED 2 QUARTS OF OIL. ONE DAY LATER THE ENGINE BLEW AND THE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT NEVER CAME ON.

CONSUMER STATES THAT THE HOOD ON VEHICLE IS INOPERATIVE. CONSUMER STATES ONCE THE HOOD IS OPENED IT WILL UNEXPECTANTLY RELEASE CRASHING DOWN ON OCCUPANTS HEAD. CONSUMER FEELS THIS IS VERY UNSAFE. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *MR
WHILE TRAVELING AND WITHOUT ANY INDICATION VEHICLE WOULD IDLE HIGH, WHICH CAUSED THE CONSUMER TO DEPRESS BRAKE PEDAL, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. RATTLING OR POPPING NOISE EMANATING FROM THE REAR OF VEHICLE AS VEHICLE SLOWS DOWN TO A STOP ON AN INCLINE OR HILL, WITH VEHICLE'S ORIENTATION FACED DOWNWARD WRT THE DECLINE. HAD LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP, ANTWERPEN CONDUCT A 15K CHECK UP AND DETERMINE IF THERE ARE ANY TSBS OR RECALLS; SERVICE ADVISOR SAID THAT NO RECORD EXIST. LOUD POPPING NOISE COULD ORIGINATE FROM REAR STRUT SYSTEM. SAW RECALL OF REAR AXLE FALLING OFF; ANTWERPEN TOYOTA SERVICE ADVISOR SAID NO SUCH RECALL OF TSB FOR THIS VIN.*AK
WHILE THE TRACTION CONTROL WAS ACTIVATED THE VEHICLE HAD A HARD TIME MAKING IT UP A SLOPE WHICH HAD 1-2 INCHES OF NEW FALLEN SNOW, WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL OFF THE VEHICLE HAD NO PROBLEMS GOING UPHILL. NLM

I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALER ON 2 OCCASIONS TO HAVE THE REAR BRAKES ADJUSTED. DURING THE LAST VISIT, I WAS TOLD 80% OF THE CAMRYS BROUGHT INTO THIS DEALER HAD TO HAVE THEIR REAR DRUM BRAKES ADJUSTED BECAUSE THE SELF ADJUSTING FEATURE WAS INADEQUATE.*AK
WHILE DRIVNG ABOUT 30 MPH ENGINE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT A PRIOR WARNING.CONSUMER HAD TO TURN OFF ENGINE, AND PUT PAWL IN NEUTRAL, VEHICLE THEN STOPPED, AVOIDING A CRASH INTO A CROW. DEALER SAID THAT THROTTLE CABLE WAS THE PROBLEM. *AK

BRAKES FAILED WHILE SLOWING DOWN ON OFF RAMP. BRAKES GRIPPED AND THEN LET GO. CAR STOPPED MUCH SLOWER THAN IT SHOULD HAVE. IT FELT LIKE CAR MAY HAVE SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR. *AK

DEALER SAYS THAT THROTTLE STICKING IS THE NORM FOR CAMRYS AND IS NOT A DRIVE TRAIN PROBLEM AND NOT WARRANTED.*AK
DRIVER'S SEAT BELT GET BINDING IN RETRACTOR GUIDE. DEALER NOTIFIED. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
WHILE REPLACING A FLAT TIRE ON A FLAT SURFACE USING A JACK, AND AT THE TIME OF LOOKING FOR OTHER TIRE, JACK BENT TO SIDE AND VEHICLE FELL TO GROUND, DAMAGING VEHICLE FENDERS.*AK THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THE JACK THAT CAME WITH THE VEHICLE WAS NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO LIFT AND HOLD THE VEHICLE. *YH
TEAM TOYOTA WAS VERY UNRESPONSIVE; ALLEGED OWNER NEGLECT. OIL LIGHT CAME ON AND IMMEDIATELY SLUNG A ROD, NO NOTICE NOTHING. THEY TOLD ME IS WAS SLUDGE ALTHOUGH IT DIDN'T TAKE THEM LONG TO MAKE THAT DETERMINATION. THEY COULDN'T HAVE CHECKED VERY FAR BECAUSE THE MECHANIC THAT REPLACED THE MOTOT (NOT A TOYOTA MECHANIC) SAID THERE WAS LITTLE TO NO SLUDGE THERE. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM TOYOTA DISCUSSING OIL GELLING THIS MONTH (JULY 2002). MAYBE THEY'VE BEEN HAVING TOO MANY OWNER NEGLECT CASES WITH BLOWN MOTORS!*AK
BRIDGESTONE, POTENZA, TIRE SIZE 205-65-R1, DOT 9B9L, ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ON TOYOTA, SOLARA 2000 WITH 17,000 MILES. BOTH FRONT TIRES ARE BALD AND ARE SEPARATING AND CRACKING ON SIDES.*AK *SLC
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT GOT INTO THE VEHICLE WITH THE DOORS LOCKED AND THE ALARM BEGAN TO SOUND. WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE HE WAS UNABLE TO UNLOCK THE DOOR AND GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE FROM THE INSIDE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 52,000.
ROUGH VIBRATION/1 SET REPLACED / 2ND SET SAME/DEALER DOESN'T WANT TO REPLACE WITH MICHELIN WHICH THEY SHOULD. I TOOK THE CAR TO TWO SEPARATE DEALERS AND THEY BOTH SUGGESTED REPLACING THE CONTINENTAL GENERAL WITH MICHELIN AND SAID I WOULD HAVE NO PROBLEM. *AK( DOT NUMBER: )
