A CAR CAKED OUT OF ITS PARKING SPACE ON THE STREET INTO TRAFFIC AS A WAS ABOUT TO PASS WHICH MADE MY CAR HIT THEM IN THE REAR AND SENT ME INTO A TREE AND THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED THAT CAUSED ME TO HAVE A CONCUSSION AND SPIT MY HEAD CAUSING ME TO BLEED
SPEEDOMETER, TACHOMETER GOES TO ZERO OR TACHOMETER (RPMS) NEEDLE BOUNCES AROUND. ABS AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS GO ON, TEMPERATURE GAUGE GOES TO ZERO. AIR CONDITIONING STOPS BLOWING COLD AIR. ALL HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS.
5/13/2015: 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. VSC (VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL) LIGHT CAME ON (5/9/2015). IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO STOP THE VEHICLE. HAD TO FLOOR THE BRAKES IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE STEERING WAS ALL OVER THE PLACE, NOT TIGHT WITH THE STEERING WHEEL MOVEMENTS. BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP (NEW COUNTRY TOYOTA OF CLIFTON PARK, NY) WHERE WE BOUGHT IT 9 MONTHS AGO AND THEY SAID THIS IS A COMMON PART THAT FAILS. IF THIS IS TRUE, THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL...THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. I AM THANKFUL THAT MY SON DIDN'T GET IN AN ACCIDENT. THEY NOW WANT $2500 TO REPAIR IT. WHEN WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FOR OUR SON 9 MONTHS AGO, THEY SAID THAT WE CAN GET 250,000 MILES OUT OF IT, IT WAS A VERY SAFE CAR FOR OUR SON TO BE IN....I BEG TO DIFFER!!! I SEE LOTS OF COMPLAINTS LISTED FOR THIS ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTOL AND HOPE THERE WILL BE A RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE WAS CONSUMING OIL EXCESSIVELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS WORKING UP TO SPECIFICATIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS DID NOT PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TOYOTA SENT ME AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST LETTER AND UPON TAKING IT TO RALPH HAYES TOYOTA TO DO THE TEST I WAS TOLD MY CAR DID NOT QUALIFY. I PERFORMED THE TEST MYSELF AND FOUND IT USED ONE OR MORE QUARTS OF OIL IN THE 1300 MILES SUGGESTED IN THE LETTER. THE CAR EMITS A LARGE CLOUD OF OIL SMOKE ON MORNING START UPS.
DRIVING TODAY WITH MY SON IN THE CAR I LOST ALL BRAKE POWER. UNABLE TO USE THE BRAKES THEN MOMENTS LATER IT RETURNED.
ON MAY 8TH 2015 , I WAS TAKING A TRAFFIC IN A CURB ON IRVINGTON AVE NEWARK NJ THE STEERING WHEEL STUCK AND I COULD NOT HAVE ANY BREAK SO THEN THE CAR GOES STRAIGHT WITH ME TO A POT LIGHT,I HAVE SERIOUS INJURIES IN MY CHEST AND LOWER BACK, MY CAR IS COMPLETELY BROKEN( DRIER'S FENDER,FRONT LIGHT,RADIATOR, SUPPORT RADIATOR, LOWER ARM CONTROL , WATER PUMP,WOOD,WHEELS,BUMPER ETC...AND THE REST OF THE NAME THAT I DON'T REMEMBER THE FOLLOWING WEEK ,I CONTACTED TOYOTA ; THEY OPENED A CLAIM UNTIL 30 DAYS AND ABOUT ANOTHER 60 DAYS AFTER INSPECTED MY CAR THEY SENT A LETTER AND THEY TOLD ME THEY CAN'T DO NOTHING FOR ME ;THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR.PLEASE HELP ME CAUSE THE NEEDS A LOT OF MONEY TO BE FIXED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A STREET LIGHT AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 138,000.
AFTER DRIVING 3000 MILES I AM DOWN A QUART OF OIL. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ON THIS ISSUE AND WHEN I BROUGHT IT BACK THEY TOLD ME TO RETURN AFTER 1000 MILES I RETURNED AFTER 1000 MILES AND HEY TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING RONGWITH THE CAR. THE CAR IS STILL DOWN A QUART AFTER 3,000 MILE
ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON AND SPEED ODOMETER STOPS AND ALL START BACK UP. ALSO THE AIR CONDITION START BLOWING OUT LESS AIR AND ONCE THE LIGHTS GOES OFF EVERYTHING START BACK WORKING NORMAL. CALLED TO TOYOTA AND THEY SAID THAT ITS NO RECALL, BUT THIS IS CRAZY BECAUSE ITS TO MANY PEOPLE HAVING THIS ISSUE.
ABS MODULE FAILURE DUE TO MANUFACTURING DEFECT. INTERNAL SHORTING IN MODULE CAUSE CARS COMPUTER CAN SYSTEM TO GO DOWN. ABS BRAKING STOPS WORKING, DASHBOARD INSTRUMENTS LOSE ALL SIGNALS AND GO TO ZERO. SPEED/RPM/TEMP/BRAKING LIGHTS COME ON ABS. TOTAL DASHBOARD CONFUSION. CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM STOPS WORKING.
I FIX THIS INTERMEDIATE SHAFTS IN 2010 AND NOW IT HAPPEN AGAIN. TOYOTA SHOULD DO A RECALL ON THIS PART.
DASHBOARD PANEL GAUGES STARTED TO FLUCTUATE. THEY BOUNCE UP AND DOWN. ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS CAME ON. AC STOPPED WORKING. I CALLED TO TOYOTA RECALL CENTER AND WAS DIRECTED TO GO TO A TOYOTA DEALER TO HAVE THE CAR INSPECTED IN MY OWN COST....... *TR
WHEN BRAKING FOR A YELLOW STOPLIGHT. I LOST ALL BRAKES AND BRAKE PRESSURE. SEVERAL INDICATOR LIGHTS INCLUDING THE ABS LIGHT AS WELL AS A MESSAGE "CHECK VSC SYSTEM". THERE WERE NO VEHICLES NEXT TO ME SO I WAS ABLE TO CHANGE LANES TO CLEAR TRAFFIC IN ONCOMING TURN LANES AND PASS THROUGH THE INTERSECTION SAFELY. THE BRAKES REENGAGED AT THE NEXT APPLICATION OF THE BRAKE. WE DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME AND THE EVENT OCCURRED AT EACH STOP, APPROX 10 OCCURRENCES, DEPRESSING THE BRAKE AND FAILING WITH THE ERRORS ABOVE THEN REDEPRESSING TO ENGAGE THE SYSTEM. *TR
THE DASHBOARD IN MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY IS MELTING AND HAS TAKEN ON A VERY STICKY AND SHINY APPEARANCE. EVERY LITTLE THING STICKS TO THE DASH AND IT CAN'T BE CLEANED. NOT ONLY CAN'T IT BE CLEANED, IT ALSO CREATES A LARGE DANGEROUS GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD WHILE DRIVING IN THE DAY.
BRAKING WENT VERY SOFT. CHECK VSC SYSTEM WARNING MESSAGE APPEARED ALONG WITH MULTIPLE DASH LIGHT AND ADDITIONAL ERROR MESSAGE TO CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM. *TR
THE HYBRID BATTERY MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDS REPLACED AFTER ONLY 90K MILES. *TR
ON 3/4/15 I HAD AN OIL CHANGE AT CONRAD'S. ON 3/11/15 I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO TOYOTA FOR THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. AT THIS TIME THEY ASKED WHEN MY LAST OIL CHANGE WAS AND I STATED 3/4/15. THEY SAID THEY TYPICALLY LIKE TO PERFORM THE OIL CHANGE BEFORE THE TEST BUT THAT OIL CHANGE WAS RECENT ENOUGH TO USE. WHEN THEY CHECKED MY OIL THEY SAID MY CAR ARRIVED WITH NO OIL READING ON THE DIPSTICK AND THAT IT WAS MORE THAN ONE QUART LOW ON OIL. I EXPLAINED HOW COULD THAT BE I HAVE NO OIL IN MY DRIVEWAY OR ANYWHERE. THE SERVICE ADVISOR SAID THEY WOULD NEED TO DO AN OIL CHANGE OR THEY COULDN'T DO THE TEST. I CALLED CONRAD'S THEY STATED THAT IS NOT TRUE AND IT'S THERE WORD AGAINST TOYOTA. I HAD TOYOTA PERFORM THE OIL CHANGE AND THEY ALSO SEALED THE ENGINE OFF FOR THE TEST. ON 4/22/15 I RETURNED AS I HAD REACHED 1200 MILES SINCE THE START OF THE TEST. AT THAT POINT THEY STATED MY CAR PASSED AND THE OIL CONSUMPTION WAS GOOD. IN JUNE I WAS HEADED OUT OF TOWN AND THE OIL LIGHT FLASHED ON AS I EXITED THE HIGHWAY. AT THAT POINT WE ADDED TWO QUARTS OF OIL. NOW IT IS 8-5-15 AND MY SON WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND THE ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING. WE ADDED TWO QUARTS OF OIL BUT IT'S TOO LATE. THE NOISE COMING FROM INSIDE THE ENGINE DID NOT STOP. CALLED TOYOTA TODAY AND TALKED TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AND HE SAID I COULD BRING IT IN TO BE LOOKED AT. I WILL HAVE TO TOW IT UP THERE AS I'M NOT SURE IF IT'S DRIVABLE. NEXT OIL CHANGE WAS 9-7-15 OR 92481 MILES. CURRENT MILAGE 94014. IT APPEARS THAT THE CAR IS BURNING AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF OIL EVEN THOUGH TOYOTA CLAIMS IT PASSED THE TEST.
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, AND AS I WAS COMING TO A STOP I HEARD A WARNING DING, LOOKED DOWN, AND MY DASHBOARD READ "LOW ENGINE OIL PRESSURE." I FOUND THAT WARNING ODD CONSIDERING I HAVE ONLY PUT 2,000 MILES ON MY CAR SINCE MY LAST OIL CHANGE, I HAVE NOT NOTICED ANY OIL LEAKS IN MY PARKING SPOT OR UNDER MY CAR, AND I HAD MY TRANSMISSION SERVICED FOUR WEEKS AGO AND THERE WAS NO MENTION OF ANY LEAKS BY THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN. I PULL INTO THE WALMART PARKING LOT CLOSE BY, CHECK MY OIL, AND OIL LEVELS ARE NOT REGISTERING ON MY DIPSTICK. I QUICKLY BOUGHT 2 QUARTS OF THE MANUFACTURERS RECOMMENDED WEIGHT OF OIL, PUT THEM IN, AND WENT DIRECTLY TO MY SERVICE STATION. THE SERVICE STATION TOOK ME IN IMMEDIATELY, COMPLETED THEIR INSPECTION, AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY CANNOT FIND ANY LEAKS ANYWHERE. IN ADDITION, THERE ARE NO BAD SMELLS, NO SMOKE, NO SIGNS OF OIL BURNING, NOTHING. THEY RECOMMENDED AN OIL CHANGE, WHICH I DID. THE SERVICE STATION GAVE ME A 50% DISCOUNT ON THE SERVICE BECAUSE IT WAS ONLY 2 MONTHS AND 2,000 MILES SINCE I WAS LAST THERE FOR AN OIL CHANGE. THE MECHANIC SUGGESTED THAT I KEEP A CASE OF OIL IN MY TRUNK, CHECK THE OIL LEVEL ONCE A WEEK, AND ADD OIL AS NEEDED. I THINK THIS IS A LOT OF OIL CONSUMPTION, AND A LOT OF WORK FOR SUCH A YOUNG VEHICLE. MY CAR IS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY XLE 4 CYLINDER WITH 79,004 MILES AS OF 21 APRIL 2015. *TR
CHECK VSC WARNING INDICATOR CAME ON WHEN DRIVING MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID THIS AFTERNOON. WHEN THAT WAS ON, MY CAR WAS DRAGGING AS IF THE EMERGENCY BRAKES WERE ON. SO I DROVE VERY SLOW WHEN THIS TOOK PLACE, IN AN ATTEMPT TO GET HOME SINCE I WAS ONLY A FEW MILES FROM WHERE I LIVED. IN ABOUT 5-7 MINUTES, WHEN I HAD STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, THIS WARNING WENT OFF AND THE CAR WORKED AS IT NORMALLY HAS. WHEN I GOT HOME AND GOOGLED THIS FOR MY CAR, A NUMBER OF ARTICLES CAME UP ABOUT A POSSIBLE RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE FOR 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRIDS. CAN YOU PLEASE ADVISE ON THE STATUS OF THE POSSIBLE RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE WITH THIS CAR? *TR
I WAS BACKING UP IN MY DRIVEWAY, TURNING THE VEHICLE AROUND. THE CHECK VSC WARNING MESSAGE CAME ON AS WELL AS THE ABS WARNING LIGHT AND ANOTHER RED EXCLAMATION POINT. THE BRAKES CEASED WORKING PROPERLY, JERKING WITH EVEN THE LIGHTEST TOUCH, AND NOT WORKING AT ALL FOR A FEW SCARY SECONDS, AND THEN SUDDENLY JERKING AS IF THEY HAD BEEN SLAMMED ON HARD. AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE DOWN OUR ROADWAY FOR A HALF MILE, WE CONCLUDED THAT THE BRAKES WERE GOING TO CONTINUE TO DO THIS AS THE CONDITION DID NOT CHANGE. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 TOYOTA CAMERA THE AIR BAGS LIGHTS ON FOR THE DRIVERS SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE ON AND THE SEATBELT LIGHT ON. *TR
I HAD TAKEN THE CAR IN FOR AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. WHILE I WAS THERE I WAS ADVISED OF A BULLETIN STATING AN BRAKE RESERVOIR TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WHEN I GOT THE CAR BACK EVERYTHING SEEM FINE. THE NEXT DAY I HEARD WHAT I WOULD CALL A CHIRPING COMING FROM INSIDE THE ENGINE DEPARTMENT. I DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO SEE WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM AT THAT TIME. I CHECKED IT LATER THE NEXT DAY, BUT COULDN'T GET IT TO ACT UP. AGAIN, THE NEXT DAY I HEARD IT AGAIN. IT TOOK SEVERAL DAYS FOR ME TO FIGURE OUT THAT IT ONLY SHOWED UP WHEN THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED. I WAITED TO TAKE CARE OF IT SINCE I KNEW I WAS GOING TO TAKE THE CAR BACK FOR THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AND IT WAS ONLY A NOISE. ON 2/7/15 I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A FAULTY ACTUATOR AND IT WOULD COST $1447.39 TO REPAIR. I WENT ON LINE REGARDING THE PROBLEM WITH THE RESERVOIR. IT STATES "ANALYSIS OF THE FAILURE DATA INDICATE THAT EACH CONDITION PROVIDES WARNING PRIOR TO ANY REDUCTION IN POWER ASSISTED BRAKING, WITH LESS THAN 10 PERCENT OF ALL REPORTS AND CLAIMS INVOLVING DIAGNOSTIC CODES OR COMPLAINT NARRATIVES INDICATING INCREASED BRAKING EFFORT OR REDUCED BRAKE EFFECTIVENESS. IN ADDITION, MOST OF THE INCIDENTS IN WHICH REDUCED BRAKING ASSIST APPEARS TO HAVE OCCURRED INVOLVED OPERATION IN A REDUCED ASSIST MODE AND NOT A SUDDEN, COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER ASSISTED BRAKING". IN THOSE CASES THEY WILL REPLACE THE ACTUATOR. I FEEL THIS WAS CAUSED BY BY THE RESERVOIR BEING REPLACED. I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM UNTIL THIS WAS DONE!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, THE BATTERY WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000.
- 2007 CAMRY HAS BEEN CONSUMING UNREAL AMOUNT OF ENGINE OIL. - I TOOK IT TO THE DELEARSHIP; AND THEY MENTIONED REPLACEMENT OF PISTONS WILL BE COVERED UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY BUT IF THE ENGINE IS DAMAGED THEY WILL NOT COVER IT. AT THIS POINT, I AM NOT EVEN SURE THE PISTON IS NOT WORKING AS IT WAS SUPPOSED TO. - THE CAR WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW AND THE DEFECT ON ENGINE WAS BROUGHT TO OUR ATTENTION ONLY A MONTH AGO IN 2015. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. IN ADDITION, WHEN DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE LOST OIL AFTER TWO OR THREE DAYS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RADIATOR DETACHED AND LEAKED WATER, AND THE OIL RING FAILED. BOTH COMPONENTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE RADIATOR WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 187,671.
THE SUN VISOR BROKE WHEN I WAS USING IT WHILE THE SUN WAS COMING DOWN. IT'S A SAFETY HAZARD SINCE THE SUN BLINDS YOU. TOYOTA DOES NOT PRODUCE RELIABLE CARS LIKE THEY USED TO. *TR
CAR DASHBOARD WHEN EXPOSED TO SUN , GETS STICKY AND GLOSSY. THE REFLECTION ON THE WINDSHIELD CREATES HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITION. THE DASHBOARD MATERIAL APPEARS TO BE VINYL. THIS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED, TOYOTA MOTOR CO. DID SEND A LETTER INFORMING THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS SITUATION, BUT HAS NO RESOLUTION OR TIME FRAME IN SOLVING THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS UNFAIR TO CONSUMERS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL EXTENDED TO THE FLOOR WHEN IT WAS DEPRESSED AND THE STOPPING DISTANCE INCREASED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE BRAKE AND ABS SENSORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 175,232.
THE CAR SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THE NEEDLE WENT TO ZERO, THE TACHOMETER FLUCTUATES OUT OF CONTROL UP AND DOWN, THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON, THE LIGHTS THAT INDICATE WHAT GEAR YOU ARE IN TURNED OFF, THE GAS GAUGE APPEARS TO STILL WORK OKAY, BUT THE MILEAGE STOPS CALCULATING ALTHOUGH THE DIGITAL DISPLAY IS STILL ON JUST NOT COUNTING MILEAGE. I HAVE NO WAY TO KNOW HOW FAST I AM GOING OR IF MY CAR WILL EITHER NOT STOP DUE TO BRAKE LIGHTS BEING ON OR JUST CUT OFF SINCE THERE SEEMS TO BE SOME ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION. THE AIR CONDITIONING ALSO STOPPED WORKING. THIS HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES, THEN AS QUICKLY AS IT STOPPED, IT STARTED WORKING AGAIN. IT HAS NOW DONE THIS EACH DAY AT MULTIPLE TIMES DURING EACH TRIP FOR THE PAST 3 DAYS SINCE THE PROBLEM FIRST STARTED. NOT KNOWING HOW FAST YOU ARE GOING IS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE AND SOUNDS LIKE THIS ISSUE HAS COME UP BEFORE WITH OTHER TOYOTA OWNERS AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR

WHEN I WAS DRIVING AT 65 MPH..THE CHECK VSC SYSTEM WARNING CAME ON. THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 1 MONTH AGO. I THOUGHT NOTHING OF IT BECAUSE IT WENT OFF AFTER I STARTED THE CAR AGAIN...SO 3 WEEKS LATER IT COMES ON AGAIN AND GOES OFF. WHEN IT CANE ON THE BRAKES DIDN'T WORK AS WELL, AND ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS WERE ON. YESTERDAY ON 3/25/2015 IT CAME ON AND HAS NOW STAYED ON. THE BRAKES ARE WORKING CORRECTLY, HOWEVER, I KNOW SOMETHING IS WRONG. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE AND FOUND OUT THAT TOYOTA IS ASSISTING WITH FIXING THIS ISSUE. MY CAR STARTED USING OIL AT 115,000-123,000 MILES. I TOOK IT IN 2-3 MONTHS AGO AND TOYOTA PERFORMED AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. MY CAR USED 1.6 QUARTS OF OIL DURING THAT TIME, IT DID NOT HAVE ANY EXTERNAL LEAKS WHEN THEY PERFORMED THIS TEST. I WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT UNDER RECALL AND THIS MUCH OIL CONSUMPTION IS NORMAL. USING THE MUCH OIL IS NOT NORMAL AND IT WAS NOT USING OIL BEFORE THE 115,000 MILES. I WAS TOLD SINCE IT WAS NOT UNDER RECALL THAT IF I WANTED THE VALVE SEALS REPAIRED IT WOULD BE UNDER MY EXPENSE. THIS IS NOT A NEW COMPLAINT ABOUT THE 2007 CAMRY AND THE INTERNET HAS NUMEROUS CUSTOMERS HAVING EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION AND SOME WERE WORSE THAN MINE. TOYOTA SHOULD OWN UP TO THIS DEFECT AND FIX IT.
I OWN A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY SE AND FOR THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH MY CAR NOT STARTING IF IT IS ON UNLEVEL GROUND. I ASSUMED IT WAS SOMETHING IN THE GAS I HAD RECENTLY PURCHASED BUT THAT DOES NOT SEEM TO BE THE CASE. IF MY CAR IS PARKED ON UNLEVEL GROUND, I NOW HAVE TO PLACE THE GEAR IN NEUTRAL AND PUSH THE CAR TO A LEVEL GROUND IN ORDER FOR IT TO START. I RECENTLY HAD IT CHECKED OUT BY A MECHANIC AND HE TOLD ME THAT IT HAD TO BE A SENSOR IN THE FUEL PUMP CAUSING MY CAR TO RESPOND IN ONE OF TWO WAYS: 1) THERE WAS NO GAS IN THE TANK OR 2) THE ANTITHEFT SENSOR WAS ON AND THE CAR DOESN'T START IF THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN STOLEN. I HAD A FULL TANK AT THE TIME SO OPTION 1 WAS DEFINITELY NOT THE CASE. ON 20 MARCH 2015, WHILE STARTING THE CAR, A WARNING INDICATOR SHOWED UP ON MY INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE INDICATOR STATED ( CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM.....VSC SYSTEM ). I PARKED THE CAR FOR THE DAY. DAY 2, I TOOK THE CAR TO A AUTO SHOP AND HAD A BASIC SCAN THAT READS ABS CODES PERFORMED ON THE CAR. THE BASIC SCAN REVELED TO "REPLACE BATTERY PACK". TWO MECHANICS INFORMED ME WHILE PERFORMING THE SCAN, A BURNING ODOR WAS OBSERVED FROM THE CAR. I DROVE THE CAR HOME AND PARKED IT. I LASTLY OBSERVED THE ONLY INFORMATION DISPLAYED FROM THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS " CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM". THE ONLY LIGHTS ON WERE THE WARNING LIGHT AND THE ENGINE LIGHT. *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING AND CAME TO THE STOP MY SPEEDOMETER DROPPED DOWN TO ZERO, MY TACHOMETER KEEPS GOING UP AND DOWN, THE ABS AND BRAKE SIGNALS LIGHT UP, AND MY A/C SEEMS TO STOP WORKING. I RESEARCHED THIS ONLINE AND NOTICED THAT HUNDREDS OF CONSUMERS ARE EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM. SEEMS TO BE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE ABS MODULATOR/SENSOR CORRODING. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN CLOVIS AND THEY SAID THEY HAD TO START WITH A BASIC DIAGNOSIS OF $129 AND THAT THIS WAS NOT A RECALL ISSUE. HOW CAN THIS NOT BE A RECALL OF THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS!? I HAVE A TOMTOM THAT CAN KEEP TRACK OF MY SPEED SO I'LL JUST USE THIS UNTIL A RECALL IS MADE AND THIS ISSUE CAN BE FIXED FREE OF CHARGE. *TR
MELTING DASHBOARD CAUSING GLARES ON THE EYES AND THEREFORE DRIVING BECOMES DANGEROUS. THE DASHBOARD BECOMES STICKY EMITTING SOME FUMES THAT COULD BE HAZARDOUS TO ONES HEALTH IF INHALED FOR EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME. GOT AN OIL CHANGED AND ABOUT 3 WEEKS AFTER HEARD ENGINE MAKING A FUNNY KNOCKING AND TICKING SOUND. LOOKED UNDER HOOD TO CHECK FLUIDS AND THE OIL WAS COMPLETELY DRY! HAD TO FILL IT UP W QUARTS OF OIL, AND CONSTANTLY DUMP OIL INTO ENGINE BECAUSE IT WAS BURNING UP SO RAPIDLY EVERY 2/3 WEEKS, MATE NICE LIGHT WOULD COME ON INDICATING LOW OIL, RECEIVED A LETTER FROM TOYOTA INDICATING THEY HAVE A PROBLEM W THE CAR CONSUMING ENGINE OIL TO RAPIDLY, CONFRONTED THE LOCAL DEALER SHIP OF MY ISSUE N THEY INSIST I MUST PAY OUT OF POCKET TO REPAIR ENGINE WHICH NOW IS KNOCKING VERY LOUDLY N HAS NO ACCELERATION AT 95.00 AN HR THEN THEY CAN PERFORM ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST TO DETERMINE IF THAT WAS THE REASON FOR MY FAILURE! FOR THE SECOND TIME IN LESS THAN A YEAR, THE BRAKE AND ABS LIGHTS CAME ON THE DASHBOARD. THE LIGHTS WENT OUT SHORTLY AFTER, BUT THE ABS ENGAGED WHEN THEY SHOULDN'T, CAUSING MY STOPPING DISTANCE TO BE DRAMATICALLY INCREASED. I NEARLY CRASHED, AND WAS FORCED TO SWERVE TO AVOID THE CAR AHEAD. TOYOTA HAS A SERVICE BULLETIN ON THIS PROBLEM--IT HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED, TWO YEARS RUNNING, AT A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AS A CORRODED ABS SENSOR. TOYOTA REFUSE TO PAY FOR LABOR, OR CREATE A PART THAT IS BETTER SHIELDED. THIS IS DANGEROUS. WHO KNOWS WHEN IT WILL GO OUT AGAIN? I AM DEEPLY CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY. *TR
DASH BOARD IS RATHER STICKY ESPECIALLY DURING HOT DAYS
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT AROUND 45MPH. ALL OF A SUDDEN. MY ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT INDICATORS LIGHT UP. MY SPEEDOMETER DROPPED DOWN TO 0. MY GAUGES JUMPING AROUND. MY SPEED IN ACTUALITY DIDN'T GO DOWN TO 0. AND, MY CAR DIDN'T STALL OR CUT OFF. BUT, IF IT HAD. I COULD HAVE BEEN RAN OVER BY A SEMI TRUCK OR ANOTHER VEHICLE. PRIOR TO THIS HAPPENING, MY TIRE SENSOR LIGHT WAS ON. I TOOK TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY SAID ONCE THE TIRE SENSOR WAS FIXED, THE OTHER WOULD GO AWAY. I HAD TIRE SENSOR FIXED. THE LIGHTS WENT OFF FOR A BRIEF PERIOD. BUT, BACK ON AGAIN AT INTERVAL TIMES. THE CAR ALSO SEEMS TO WANT TO CUT OFF WHEN IDLING AT RED LIGHTS. WHEN I GOOGLED THE PROBLEMS ONLINE. IT SEEM TOYOTA CARS OF ALL MAKES AND YEARS ARE HAVING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. I AM TAKING BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP ONCE AGAIN. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY CAR LOST SOME BRAKING POWER AND SLIGHT PULSING COULD BE FELT WHEN PRESSING ON BRAKES. AT THE SAME TIME THE DASH LIGHTS ALL LIT UP; EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT, ABS LIGHT, WARNING LIGHTS, AND SCREEN SAID CHECK VSC SYSTEM. PRIOR TO SYSTEM FAILING EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT WOULD RANDOMLY TURN ON... VERY SCARY WHEN DRIVING 65 MPH. ALSO AT SLOWER SPEEDS, IT IS DIFFICULT TO APPLY ADEQUATE PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP NORMALLY.

THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. PRIOR TO THE COLLISION, THE VEHICLE INADVERTENTLY ACCELERATED WHILE DRIVING. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AFTER THE CRASH AND SENT AN INSPECTOR. THE INSPECTOR STATED THAT THERE WAS NO CLAIM SINCE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS NOT DEPRESSED DURING THE COLLISION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 34,000. WE GOT A WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT ON OUR TOYOTA WHICH STARTED TO LOSE ALOT OF OIL WE TOOK TO TOYOTA GREEN IN LEXINGTON KY THEY HAD ON THEIR REPORT WE DONE OVER 2196 MILES WHEN STARTED THE TEST. WHICH WAS COMPLETELY WRONG THEY SAID WE ONLY USED 1/2 QUART OF OIL SO IT WAS NOT LOSING ENOUGH OIL EMAILED TOYOTA CONSIDERS OIL CONSUMPTION EXCESSIVE WHEN IT EXCEEDS 1.1 QUART PER 600 MILES. MY HUSBAND HAS BEEN CHECKING SINCE TOOK WRITES DOWN MILEAGE WHEN HE CHECKS IT HAD LITTLE OVER 900 MILES ON IT AND WE HAD LOST ALMOST A QUART OF OIL IT LIKED 1/8 BEING A FULL COURT. OF COURSE THEY SAY IT SAYS IT IN THE BOOK WHAT THEY CAN USE. I HAVE HAD EXACTLY 4 TOYOTAS AND THEY HAVE NEVER DONE THIS. THEY TOLD US THAT WE CAN TAKE BACK IN 5000 MILES OR 6MO WHICH EVER COMES FIRST. THIS JUST DOES NOT SOUND RIGHT TO ME. AT THE FIRST DAY OF WARM WEATHER, THE SUN SEEMED TO MELT THE DASH AND CAUSE A GLARE ON THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. IT GETS SO BAD THAT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE DASH TOP SEEMS TO TURN TO A STICKY, GLUE SUBSTANCE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS.

I WAS DRIVING AND NOTICED THAT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND ABS LIGHTS WERE ON. THE SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER WERE AT ZERO AND THE WATER TEMP METER WAS BOUNCING UP AND DOWN. I TOOK THE CAR TO A DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED ONE OF THE COMPUTER PARTS THAT CONTROLS THE DASH, THEY HAD TO HAVE THE ODOMETER READINGS SET PRIOR TO SHIPMENT. THE REPAIR COST AROUND $700, BUT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I DID A SEARCH ON-LINE AND OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR CAMRY'S. SOME WERE CLAIMING THAT THE ISSUE IS WITH THE ABS MODULE. I UNPLUGGED THE ELECTRICAL LEAD TO THE ABS MODULE AND PLUGGED IT BACK IN AND THE ISSUE WAS CORRECTED FOR SEVERAL HOURS, BUT ULTIMATELY CAME BACK. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THE CAR LIKE THIS FOR WHILE AND IT ISSUE WITH THE DASH IS INTERMITTENT. I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE THERMOMETER COMES AND GOES, THE INDICATOR OF WHICH GEAR I AM IN COMES ON AND GOES OFF AND THE ODOMETER DOES NOT ADVANCE WHEN THE DASH IS MALFUNCTIONING. THERE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE A PATTERN OF WHEN THE PROBLEM STARTS OR STOPS IT APPEARS TO BE RANDOM, IT SWITCHES FROM WORKING TO NOT SEVERAL TIMES AN HOUR. *TR
