TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 12V491000 (VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS) AND SINCE THEN, THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATES INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE RPM GAUGE FLUCTUATES WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
ENGINE MADE KNOCKING NOISE. INSPECTION BY TOYOTA DEALER REVEALED ENGINE MAIN BEARING PROBLEMS PROBABLY RESULTING FROM LOW OIL PRESSURE OR OIL DEPLETION. POSSIBLE FAULTY PISTON RINGS WITH THIS ENGINE/YEAR 2007. THIS PROBLEM IS REPORTEDLY COMMON WITH THIS 4 CYLINDER ENGINE, BUT I DO NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT DATA TO BETTER ASSESS. *TR
VEHICLE STARTED FROM PARKED CONDITION. AS OPERATOR TAPPED THE GAS PEDAL LIGHTLY TO TAKE IT OUT OF PARKED CONDITION, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY HAD A VERY HIGH SPEED CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL AND THE VEHICLE HIT A HOUSE. APPARENTLY IT CAUSED A OPEN THROTTLE CONDITION. PRESSING BRAKE ONLY AGGRAVATED THE CONDITION (ADDING MORE SPEED) . THIS HAPPENED WITH AN EXPERIENCED DRIVER WITH OVER 10 YEARS OF DRIVING RECORD AND 0 INCIDENT (NOT EVEN A PARKING TICKET). ALL EARLIER RECALL WERE DONE BY DEALER. *TR
BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I COASTED TO A STOP. I HELD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. IT WAS A LIGHT RAIN ON A CONCRETE ROAD. THE DASH BOARD LITE UP WITH A WARNING CHECK VSC SYSTEM. IT ONLY HAPPEN THAT ONE TIME. AS I DROVE OFF AFTER THE EVENT, I HEARD AN UNFAMILIAR SOUND AND I CAUTIOUSLY DROVE HOME. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS WORKING NORMAL AGAIN. THE DASH BOARD WARNING SIGN WENT OUT AS I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND PROCEEDED FORWARD. SINCE THAT ONE EVENT I HAVE NEVER HAD ANOTHER INCIDENT. IN THE USA TODAY ON 1/28/14 I READ THE ARTICLE ABOUT THE POWER-ASSIST BRAKES IN 2007 & 2008 CAMRY HYBRIDS. AFTER DISCUSSING THE ARTICLE WITH MY FAMILY (WHO ALSO HAVE THE SAME VEHICLE); THEY REPORTED NO SUCH INCIDENT. ON THEIR ADVISE, I TOOK MY CAR TO MY TOYOTA DEALER AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO DETECT OR DUPLICATE THE SAME BRAKING EVENT. IT WAS TEST DRIVEN AND COMPUTER SYSTEM CHECKED. IT'S IN MY CAR HISTORY AND THE DEALER ASKED ME TO NOTIFY YOU FOR REFERENCE. *TR
THIS PROBLEM STARTED SMALL .. BECAME MORE FREQUENT AND INCREASINGLY DANGEROUS. FIRST INCIDENT PROBLEM OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. BRAKE WARNING LIGHT, ABS WARNING AND VEHICLE STABILITY WARNING APPEARED IN THE DRIVERS MESSAGE CENTER. IN EACH INSTANCE BREAKING WAS NOT THE CAUSE OF THE WARNING DISPLAYS. THE DISPLAYS WERE INTERMITTENT AND HAVE NOW BECOME A PERMANENT FIXTURE. OFTEN ADDING INTERMITTENT MOANING NOISES FROM THE FRONT LEFT WHEEL WHILE BRAKE IS DEPLOYED AND VEHICLE IS STOPPED. WHEN BRAKING AT TIMES, THERE WAS NO RESPONSE, SLOW RESPONSE OR ADDITIONAL PRESSURE IS REQUIRED TO BEGIN TO SLOW THE VEHICLE. SPEEDS ARE ALL VARIED. CITY DRIVING AND FREEWAY SPEED. IN EACH CONDITION, WARNINGS OR BRAKING PROBLEMS WOULD OCCUR. THUS FAR NO FAILURE TO THE SYSTEM HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED.. WHEN URGENT BRAKING IS REQUIRED, THERE IS NO ABS RESPONSE. FRONT LEFT AND RIGHT REAR ARE MOST EFFECTED. EACH PRODUCING ABNORMAL AMOUNTS OF BRAKE DUST. BRAKE PADS ARE REPLACED FREQUENTLY DUE TO THE PADS CONSTANTLY BEING DEPLOYED NOW. RUINING FUEL EFFICIENCY. REQUIRING TOO. FREQUENT REPAIRS FOR NORMAL USAGE. I IMPLORE THE NHTSA TO INQUIRE ON THESE SAFETY MECHANICAL DEFECTS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY SOLARA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND UNOCCUPIED WHEN IT IGNITED INTO MASSIVE FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED TO EXTINGUISH THE FLAMES. THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FIRE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO ELECTRICAL FAILURES AND THAT THE FIRE ORIGINATED FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A SAVAGE FACILITY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THERE WAS A CONCURRENT INVESTIGATION ASSOCIATED WITH THE FAILURE UNDER NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: EA12006 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID. WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WOULD DECELERATE OR REACH A COMPLETE STOP, THE CONTACT WOULD FEEL THE BRAKE PEDAL VIBRATE. THERE WAS ALSO A CHIRPING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE BRAKES. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ABS ACTUATOR WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. ABS WARNING LIGHTS APPEAR ON DASH, INTERMITTENT LOSS OF BRAKING. SYSTEM RESET AND CAR WAS FINE FOR COUPLE OF WEEKS THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. SYSTEM RESET AGAIN - FINE FOR ANOTHER COUPLE OF WEEKS NOW THE LIGHTS ARE ON AND STAY ON. TOYOTA DEALER WANTS $2500-3,000 TO REPAIR SYSTEM AND TELLS ME IT IS RARE AND HAVEN'T SEEN IT IN OTHER VEHICLES OF MY TYPE. YET I FIND SEVERAL PEOPLE WITH THE SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL OF MY VEHICLE ON THE INTERNET WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. COINCIDENCE?? *TR UPDATED 07/30/13*LJ
MY TOYOTA CAMRY BURNED 1 QUART OF OIL ABOUT EVERY 1000 MILES, THE PROBLEM STARTED AT 51000 MILES, DEALER PERFORMED OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AND ADVISED ME TO PAY 2500 DOLLARS FOR LABOR TO FIX THAT PROBLEM, THEY ONLY COVER THE PARTS COST 1500 DOLLARS . I DID A RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT MANY CAMRY HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, I CAN'T AFFORD TO FIX THIS CAR, PLEASE HELP , HOPEFULLY NHTSA WOULD MAKE THE TOYOTA CORPORATION DOING A RECALL AND FIX THIS PROBLEM, THANK YOU VERY MUCH. *TR
I BROUGHT THE CAR IN TO ELMHURST TOYOTA, IN ELMHURST, IL FOR A ROUTING OIL CHANGE AND A RECALL REMEDY NOTICE FOR THE POWER WINDOW MASTER SWITCH. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THEY PERFORMED THE REMEDY, THE PASSENGER-SIDE REAR WINDOW STOPPED OPERATING. IT TOOK ME A WHILE TO FIND OUT BECAUSE I DO NOT OPERATE THE WINDOWS IN THE WINTER. THE DEALERSHIP GAVE ME THE RUN AROUND AS TO HOW THE WINDOW MOTOR MAY BE BURNED OUT OR THE LINKAGE FALLEN OFF. I TOOK THE CAR TO AN INDEPENDENT SHOP. THE SHOP WAS ABLE TO OPERATE THE WINDOW WITHOUT THE MASTER SWITCH IN THE CIRCUIT. THE FAULT WAS ISOLATED TO THE MASTER SWITCH. THE SHOP REPLACED THE SWITCH. TOTAL COST: SWITCH FOR $302, LABOR $180, AND TAX $20 FOR A GRAND TOTAL OF $502. REPORTED THE DAMAGE THROUGH TOYOTA CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE CENTER, WHICH QUICKLY SIDED WITH ELMHURST TOYOTA, I.E., THERE IS NO PROOF THE DEALERSHIP DAMAGED THE MASTER SWITCH AND I SHOULD HAVE BROUGHT IT TO THEIR ATTENTION "FASTER." I BELIEVE BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND TOYOTA ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DAMAGE OCCURRED DURING PERFORMING THE REMEDY MAINTENANCE. I KEPT THE FAILED SWITCH IN CASE SOMEONE WANTS TO PERFORM A POST FAILURE ANALYSIS TO IT.
ON 12/11/12 I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CHECK VSC SYSTEM LIGHT CAME ON WITH THE ABS LIGHTS, MASTER WARNING, BRAKE LIGHTS, AND OTHERS. THE BRAKES WERE HARD TO DEPRESS. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC THAT MORNING OR ELSE I WOULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND SHUT THE CAR DOWN. I RESTARTED THE CAR AND THE LIGHTS WERE OFF AND IT WAS DRIVABLE AGAIN. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND BROUGHT THE CAR IN. THEY TOLD ME THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO RETRIEVE A TROUBLE CODE EXCEPT FOR BATTERY VOLTAGE. THEY REPLACE A BATTERY THAT COST ME $511. THAT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. ON 12/22/12 THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN AND I ROLLED INTO AN INTERSECTION BECAUSE I WAS NOT ABLE TO DEPRESS THE BRAKES ALL THE WAY. ONCE AGAIN, LUCKILY THERE WERE NO CARS IN THE INTERSECTION. BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD ONCE AGAIN THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO RETRIEVE A TROUBLE CODE. FROM THAT TIME ON I TRIED REPLACING TIRES BECAUSE THE MASTER MECHANIC TOLD ME IT MY BE THE DIFFERENT WARE ON MY TIRES, STILL NO RELIEF. FROM 2012 TO YESTERDAY THE WARNINGS APPEARED. THERE WAS THE SAME TICKING AND SQUEAKING SOUND THAT WAS ORIGINALLY REPORTED. THE LIGHT WERE ON CONSTANTLY AND THE BREAKING SYSTEM WAS STILL DIFFICULT TO DEPRESS. I HAD TO MAKE SURE I RENTED A WHEN DRIVING LONG DISTANCES AND TO LEAVE PLENTY OF ROOM WHILE DRIVING TO ENSURE SAFE DISTANCE FOR MY FAULTY BRAKING SYSTEM. SO, IT WAS FIXED WITH $2000 TO REPLACE THE BRAKE ACTUATOR SYSTEM BY A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP. NOW MY CAR SOUNDS NORMAL AND DRIVES NORMAL AGAIN. I BELIEVE THAT IF SO MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME SAFETY PROBLEM THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. LUCKILY I WAS NEVER INVOLVED IN A COLLISION OR FATALITY BUT I COULD DEFINITELY SEE IT HAPPENING. *TR
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, I HAD NO OIL IN THE CAR. HOWEVER, I WAS WELL WITHIN THE RANGE BEFORE AN OIL CHANGE WAS DUE.THEY CONDUCTED AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AND FOUND NOTHING WAS WRONG. BUT EVERY TWO MONTHS SINCE THEN, I'VE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAD ANOTHER OIL CONSUMPTION TEST IN JANUARY 2013. THE RESULTS OF EACH OIL CONSUMPTION TEST IS SAID TO BE OK, BUT EVERY TWO MONTHS AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST IS REQUIRED AND MY CAR KEEPS BURNING TOO MUCH OIL. FINALLY, THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE OVERHAULED. IF THIS HAS BEEN THE PROBLEM ALL ALONG, THEN THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE WHEN I FIRST MADE MY COMPLAINT IN DECEMBER, BEFORE MY WARRANTY RAN OUT. I WAS TOLD THAT TOYOTA WILL NOT PAY FOR MY ENGINE TO BE OVERHAULED BECAUSE MY WARRANTY IS NOW EXPIRED. I'M FORCED TO EITHER PAY $4,100 TO OVERHAUL THE ENGINE AND HOPE THAT THE PROBLEM WILL BE FIXED, OR BUY A NEW CAR. TOYOTA SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS SINCE THE PROBLEM BEGAN BEFORE MY WARRANTY RAN OUT. TOYOTA HAS EXCLUSIVELY CHANGED MY OIL FOR 6 YEARS AND WAS AWARE THAT THE CAR WAS CONSUMING TOO MUCH OIL. THEY SHOULD HAVE SUGGESTED THE ENGINE OVERHAUL DURING MY WARRANTY. IT WAS FAULTY ON THEIR BEHALF NOT TO MENTION THE SEVERITY OF THIS ISSUE UNTIL AFTER THE WARRANTY IS EXPIRED. THIS PROMPTED ME TO CONDUCTED RESEARCH AND I FOUND THAT HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE. A RECALL ON THIS ENGINE SHOULD BE MADE. TOYOTA OFFERS NO ASSISTANCE IN ANYTYPE OF SOLUTION. WHEN PULLED DOWN TO BLOCK THE SUN THE VISOR BRACKET FELL OFF. THE DRIVERS SIDE FELL OFF IN DECEMBER 2012 & THE PASSENGER SEPTEMBER 27, 2013. *TR
THE SUN VISOR FELL DOWN ON ME AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND A CAUSE FOR CONCERN. I CONTACTED BOTH THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND WAS INFORMED BY BOTH THAT EVEN THOUGH THERE IS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR EXACTLY THIS ISSUE FOR 2007 CAMRYS, IT ONLY APPLIES TO AMERICAN-MADE CARS. SINCE MY CAR WAS MADE IN JAPAN, IT IS NOT COVERED, EVEN THOUGH THE SYMPTOMS ARE EXACTLY THE SAME AND I WOULD FALL UNDER THE SAME REPAIR PROGRAM. THIS IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE AND TOYOTA SHOULD FIX IT. *TR
REGULARLY WHEN I DRIVE THIS CAR I PRESS THE BRAKES AND THEY DO NOT ENGAGE OR THEY ENGAGE ON A DELAY. I HAVE MENTIONED IT TO THE TOYOTA SERVICE CENTER SEVERAL TIMES. I FIRST NOTICED THE ISSUES IMMEDIATELY AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR. I REPORTED MY CONCERNS TO TOYOTA WHO DISMISSED MY COMPLAINT. TOYOTA ALWAYS TELLS ME NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE BRAKES. TL - THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY CONVERTIBLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE OUTER SURFACE OF THE DASHBOARD WAS DETERIORATING, DEVELOPED CRACKS, AND BECAME VERY STICKY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,500. MAH
THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP. IT KEEPS FLOPPING DOWN AND AFFECTS VISIBILITY. *TR
MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID BEGAN TO CONSISTENTLY MAKE NOISES AS I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL (WITH THE VEHICLE IN THE STOPPED POSITION) FOR A FEW MONTHS BEFORE THE VSC SYSTEM FAILED. LUCKILY, THE FAILURE OCCURRED AS I WAS BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND WAS ABLE TO STOP. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER AND PROCEEDED TO PAY $2200 TO HAVE THE ABS ACTUATOR REPLACED. I HAVE ANOTHER 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID WITH JUST OVER 60,000 MILES AND IT IS BEGINNING TO MAKE THE SAME BRAKE NOISE AS THE OTHER VEHICLE. THE DEALER HAS SAID IT IS NOT A PROBLEM. I CAN ONLY HOPE THAT WHEN THE BRAKES GO OUT AGAIN I WILL NOT BE TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED, OR NEGOTIATING THE MOUNTAIN ROADS I USE TO COMMUTE DAILY. I HEARD YESTERDAY ON THE NEWS THAT THIS PROBLEM IS BEING INVESTIGATED. I HOPE THEY RECALL THIS VEHICLE SOON AND HAVE THIS REPAIRED BEFORE ANYONE IS KILLED OR INJURED. *TR
2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DISSATISFACTORY REPAIR WORK ON VEHICLES POWER WINDOW UNIT AND DOORS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED PRIOR TO HIS VISIT TO THE DEALER, THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS WORKED FINE ON THE DRIVER AND REAR DOORS. UPON REACHING WORK A FEW HOURS LATER AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR, THREE OF THE DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK. THE CONSUMER RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND AN INSPECTION REVEALED ALL THREE ACTUATORS WERE DEAD. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED IT WOULD COST$ 1,800 TO FIX. THE DEALER STATED IT WAS A COINCIDENCE THAT THE DOOR LOCKS STOPPED WORKING AFTER THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED ON THE POWER WINDOW UNIT.
I OWN A TOYOTA CAMRY 2007 AND THE DASHBOARD IS MELTING AND HAS CREATED SHINY DASHBOARD. I HAVE CLEANED WITH PLAIN WATER/DAMP CLOTH BUT IT IS NOT GETTING BETTER. I HAVE A FRIEND WHO ALSO OWNS CAMRY 2007 AND IS FACING SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE MAINTAINED MY CAR VERY WELL AND THIS IS SURELY MANUFACTURING DEFECT. ON DECEMBER 1ST THIS YEAR AND I MET WITH AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF MELTING DASHBOARD AND SHINY DASHBOARD THAT CREATED GLARE IN MY EYES. THANK GOD, NO ONE WAS INJURED. I HAVE ALSO READ ONLINE THAT MANY PEOPLE WHO OWN TOYOTA CAMRY 2007 ARE FACING SAME PROBLEM. *TR

THIS VEHICLE HAS AN ELECTRONIC ABS ACTUATOR PUMP THAT FAILS AND LEAVES THE CAR WITHOUT ABS BRAKES. APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON ISSUES IN THIS CAR FOR YEARS 2007-2009 AND TOYOTA HAS NOT RECALLED THIS CAR TO REPLACE THIS PART WITH AN UPGRADE PART THAT PREVENTS THE FAILURE. I HAD TO REPLACE THIS PART WITH MY OWN MONEY IN 2012 AND THE CAR IS GIVING SIGNS THE PART IS FAILING AGAIN. I WOULD LIKE THE NHTSA HELP TO HAVE TOYOTA EVALUATE THIS SITUATION THAT IS AFFECTING MANY OF THIS MODEL CAR AND ISSUE AND REDESIGN THIS PART AND ISSUE A RECALL FOR ITS REPLACEMENT. *TR
THE DASHBOARD OF OUR 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY IS MELTING. THERE HAVE BEEN NO CHEMICALS USED ON THE DASHBOARD WHAT SO EVER. IT HAS ALWAYS ONLY BEEN CLEANED WITH WATER. THE MELTING IS PRONOUNCED MORE AS THE DASHBOARD NEARS THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD. IT IS NOW VERY STICKY AND IS COMPLETELY RUINED. MOST IMPORTANTLY, SINCE MELTING, IT HAS BECOME VERY SHINY. I HAD A ONE CAR ACCIDENT & THE AIR BAGS ON THE SIDE OF THE DRIVERS DOOR INJURED BOTH OF MY LEGS. THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE VISOR FAILED ON ME WHEN I PUT IT DOWN. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE SUN VISORS. THIS ISSUE CAN BE A POTENTIAL HAZARD AS IT OBSTRUCTS MY VIEW DURING NORMAL OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE TO MOVE THE VISOR TO THE SIDE IN ORDER TO HAVE A FULL VIEW AHEAD. THE ABS FAILURE LIGHT, BRAKE AND WARNING ICONS. I HAVE IT CHECKED OUT AND I'M TOLD BY TOYOTA CAR'S ABS ACCUMULATOR SYSTEM AND WATER PUMP MUST BE REPLACED AND THAT THEY HADN'T HAVE SUCH ISSUES BEFORE. IT HAD LESS THAN 49,000 MILES ON IT AND WAS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT, THE ROAD, WEATHER, AND VISIBILITY WERE GOOD. I WASN'T SPEEDING, TEXTING, PHONING, EATING, DRINKING, OR BEING DISTRACTED FROM DRIVING IN ANY WAY. THERE WAS ONLY ONE CAUSE FOR THE ACCIDENT THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD NOT DEPRESS. I COULDN'T STOP FOR A RED LIGHT AND CRASHED WITH ANOTHER CAR. I SAW THE RED LIGHT WITH PLENTY OF TIME TO STOP IF ONLY THE BRAKES HAD WORKED! IT SOUNDS AS IF THIS HAS HAPPENED QUITE A BIT WITH THIS MODEL AND SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO. MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY ENGINE HAS BEEN BURNING OIL FOR THE LAST ONE YEAR. THERE ARE SIGNIFICANT SLUDGE IN THE ENGINE THAT CAN DAMAGE THE ENGINE VERY SOON. IF I DON'T FILL THE ENGINE WITH ADDITIONAL OIL BETWEEN TWO OIL CHANGES, WHEN ITS TIME TO CHANGE OIL, NOTHING COMES OUT FROM THE ENGINE - THE ENTIRE OIL IS BEING BURNT BY THE ENGINE AND THE RED OIL CHANGE SIGN COMES OUT WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS A SERIOUS QUALITY ISSUE WITH TOYOTA. I NEVER HAD TO DEAL WITH SIMILAR ISSUES WITH ANY OTHER VEHICLE. WHEN I TOLD THE TOYOTA DEALER, THEY REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS PROBLEM - THEY ASKED MY TO KEEP ADDING OIL. IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY, THERE WAS A RECALL FOR 2001 - 06 TOYOTAS FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF TOYOTA OWNERS WHO ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE - PLEASE GOOGLE IT TO CHECK. THEREFORE, I AM REQUESTING AN NHTSA INVESTIGATION OF THIS ENGINE PROBLEM AND START A RECALL OF ALL 2007 CAMRY ENGINES ASAP. WILL APPRECIATE ANY HELP FROM NHTSA. *TR
