NOTICED THE ENGINE BURNING OIL AT AN EXCESSIVE RATE (2 QUARTS EVERY 1500 MILES) AT AROUND 72,000 MILES. AT 85,000 MILES DEALER RAN A CONSUMPTION TEST AND INSPECTED THE ENGINE. ADVISED THAT THE SHORT BLOCK OF THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED FOR $6500. CAR IS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY ON MILEAGE AND TOYOTA WILL NOT COVER THE REPAIR DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE DEALER SAYS THIS IS A COMMON AND KNOWN ISSUE. A QUICK SEARCH ON THE INTERNET OF "2007 CAMRY BURNS OIL" SHOWED THAT MANY OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE NO IDEA IF IT'S SAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE THE CAR UNDER THE CURRENT CONDITIONS (THE DEALERSHIP COULDN'T GUARANTEE IT WAS) AND I DON'T FEEL THAT IT'S MY RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX THIS SINCE IT'S CLEARLY AN ISSUE WITH THIS CAR. ONLINE SEARCHES HAVE ALSO REVEALED THAT TOYOTA HAS COME OUT WITH A NEW SHORT BLOCK FOR THE ENGINE OF THIS CAR, SO CLEARLY, THEY KNOW THE OTHER ONE WAS FLAWED. THIS CAR IS NOT EVEN FIVE YEARS OLD. IT'S NOT NORMAL TO HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. TOYOTA IS INSISTING THAT IT IS. THEY WON'T ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM. PLEASE INVESTIGATE! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH HE ATTEMPTED TO SLOW DOWN AND THE BRAKES FAILED WHEN THEY WERE APPLIED. THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHILE THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT LOCATED THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY CONTAMINATED BRAKE FLUID. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BRAKE FLUID, AND FLUSHED THE BRAKE LINES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED, BECAUSE THE DEALER COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY THE BRAKE FLUID WAS CONTAMINATED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
I PURCHASED MY CAMRY USED IN AUGUST 2010 AND A COUPLE OF MONTHS AFTER OWNING THE CAR, THE DRIVER SIDE SUNVISOR HAD TO BE REMOVED BECAUSE IT FLOPPED DOWN AND WOULD NOT STAY UP WHEN PUT UP. IN JULY 2012, THE EXACT SAME IDENTICAL THING HAPPENED WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE AND IT'S NOW HANGING DOWN AND WILL NOT GO BACK UP AND STAY. I CAN FEEL IN THE SEEM THAT IT'S BROKEN BUT CANNOT FIX IT. EVERYONE, INCLUDING MYSELF THAT GETS IN THE PASSENGER SIDE HITS THEIR HEADS ON IT SINCE IT'S HANGING DOWN. IT'S DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE OF BLOCKING THE VIEWS ESPECIALLY WITH THE DRIVER SIDE...THAT'S WHY WE REMOVED IT COMPLETELY. I CONTACTED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE SOMETIME AGO AND ALL THEY SAID WAS THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE ITEMS. RIDICULOUS! I'VE PRICED THE VISORS THRU THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT THE CAR AND THE PRICE WAS AROUND $100. TOYOTA NEEDS TO REPLACE THEM, I FEEL! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, SMOKE WAS SEEN COMING FROM THE INTERIOR. THE CONTACT MERGED ONTO THE SHOULDER AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO TEST DROVE AND INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO FIND WHERE THE SMOKE WAS COMING FROM OR ANY OTHER ISSUES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
WHILE DRIVING, PULLING OUT OF GARAGE, TURNING RIGHT OR LEFT AT TOWN/CITY SPEEDS AND WHILE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (55MPH AND HIGHER) A KNOCKING, POPPING FEELING IS FELT ON STEERING WHEEL. WHEN THE KNOCKING/POPPING FEELING IS FELT THERE IS ALSO A FEELING OF LOSS OF VEHICLE STEERING CONTROL. AT TIMES A SLIGHT LURCHING FEELING ALSO PRESENT. THE PROBLEM WAS REPORTED TO TOYOTA DEALER, WHO INSPECTED STEERING ASSEMBLY AND SAID THEY 'FEEL' THE PULSE BUT DON'T HAVE A FULL DIAGNOSIS. DURING THE MONTHS OF SEPT/OCT 2012 THE PROBLEM GOT WORSE WITH MORE POPPING/KNOCKING FEELING FELT AT WIDER SPEEDS AND GENERAL STEERING CONTROL BEING LOST MORE FREQUENTLY. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER ON OCT 5 2012 AND THEY STATE THAT THE STEERING SHAFT HAS TO BE REPLACED. MORE CONCERNING IS THE DEALER'S VERBAL STATEMENT THAT THIS IS A 'SAFETY ISSUE AND YOU SHOULD NOT BE DRIVING' THE VEHICLE. I CONTACTED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE TO CHECK ON RECALLS AND THEY STATE NONE EXIST, BUT A TSB HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THIS ISSUE. THEY ALSO STATED (VERBAL) THAT IF MORE COMPLAINTS ARE RECEIVED TOYOTA MAY ISSUE A RECALL. A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH WITH KEY WORDS '2007 TOYOTA CAMRY STEERING SHAFT RECALL' YIELDS 1000S OF HITS ON USERS REPORTING THIS PROBLEM. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT IS SLOWLY ARISING. I HAVE DRIVEN MY CAR FOR ROUGHLY 18000 MILES WHEN THE PROBLEM STARTS. DEALER NOW WANTS APPROXIMATELY $600 TO FIX THE ISSUE BY REPLACING THE SHAFT. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY, NOT JUST FOR MYSELF BUT FOR OTHER MOTORISTS AND FEEL THAT THIS ISSUE REQUIRES FURTHER INVESTIGATION BY COMPETENT AUTHORITY. THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR FELL DOWN INTO MY VISION, ALMOST CAUSING ME TO REAR END ANOTHER VEHICLE. TOYOTA DOESN'T CONSIDER THIS A WARRANTY ITEM AND IT IS NOT COVERED, I HAVE DONE SOME DETECTIVE WORK ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT THOUSANDS OF 2007 CAMRY OWNERS ARE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM, SOME TWICE AFTER THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE FIRST ONE. MY LEFT DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR BEGAN DROOPING LAST WEEK. I NOTICED A FEW DAYS LATER THAT IT SEEMED TO BE GETTING LOWER AND LOWER AND WAS DROPPING INTO MY FIELD OF VISION, OBSTRUCTING MY VIEW. THEN, IT BEGAN RANDOMLY FALLING, WHICH COMPLETELY KEEPS ME FROM BEING ABLE TO SEE WHERE I'M GOING OR WHAT MIGHT BE IN MY PATH. DURING THE COURSE OF A 15-MINUTE DRIVE TODAY, IT FELL 3 TIMES. MY CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY, HAVING A REPLACEMENT INSTALLED IS ALMOST $200 AND I'M LEARNING THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM IN 2007 TOYOTA CAMRYS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN SHE NOTICED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR WOULD NOT REMAIN IN THE UPWARD POSITION. AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT APPROXIMATELY EIGHTEEN MONTHS AGO, THE SUN VISOR WAS REPLACED FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AFTER THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
THE DRIVERS SIDE SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP. IT JUST HANGS DOWN IN THE WAY. IT WAS NOT DAMAGED IN ANY WAY THAT I CAN SEE. JUST NORMAL USE. WHEN DRIVING I HAVE TO EITHER MOVE IT TO THE SIDE TO SEE. THIS HAS CAUSED SOME VISIBILITY PROBLEMS WHEN IT IS VERY BRIGHT OUTSIDE AND YOU ARE DRIVING INTO THE SUN. OR ID I HAVE HAD TO MOVE IT TO THE SIDE IT IMPAIRS MY SIDE VISION. *TR
ON SEPTEMBER 2011, THE TEXTURE OF MY DASHBOARD STARTED CHANGING TO A SHINY TACKY TEXTURE, AND THE CLOSER TO THE WINDOW THE MORE SEVERE IT WAS. I MUST ADD THAT I TAKE GREAT CARE OF MY VEHICLE AND WHENEVER IT'S PARKED OUTSIDE I USE INTERIOR WINDSHIELD COVERS TO PROTECT IT FROM THE SUN AND HEAT. IN AN ATTEMPT TO CLEAN IT, I NOTICED THE DASHBOARD WAS DISINTEGRATING. IT WAS COMING RIGHT OFF AND IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE THE STICKY TEXTURE. FURTHERMORE, THE DASHBOARD IS SO SOFT THAT IT CAN BE SCRAPPED RIGHT OFF WITH A NAIL OR ANY SLIGHTLY SHARP OBJECT. I'VE BEEN INVESTIGATING THIS ISSUE, AND IT APPEARS TO BE COMMON ON 2007 CAMRY'S AND 2007 LEXUS' VEHICLES. I CREATED A VIDEO DEMONSTRATING THIS DEFECT AND HAVE POSTED IT ON YOUTUBE. 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. CONSUMER STATES SUN VISOR FELL OFF AND INTO THE DRIVERS LAP WHILE DRIVING *TGW
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM SHEEHY NISSAN ON SEPT. 25, 2010, WITH 89,720 MILES, ONE PREVIOUS OWNER AND NO ACCIDENTS/DAMAGE REPORTED TO CARFAX, AFTER HAVING A STATE INSPECTION DONE OF ALL MAJOR SYSTEMS. I HAVE THE OIL CHANGED AT REGULAR INTERVALS (MOST RECENTLY, SEPT. 23, 2011 AT 110,990 MILES) AND HAD 100K MILE SERVICING DONE ON JULY 19, 2011. THE ENGINE FAILED DURING A DRIVE TO NEW YORK. CLIMBING THE BRIDGE OUT OF DELAWARE, THE RPMS ABNORMALLY INCREASED. I SAW THE OIL LIGHT ILLUMINATE, TURNED OFF THE RADIO, OPENED THE WINDOW AND HEARD THE ENGINE MAKING LOUD NOISES. I PULLED TO THE SHOULDER ON THE APPROACH TO THE NEW JERSEY TURNPIKE. WHEN THE CAR CAME TO A STOP, THE ENGINE STALLED AND WOULD NOT RESTART. THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE REMAINED AT THE MID-WAY POINT, BUT A GREASY FILM COVERED THE BACK BUMPER. AAA TOWED IT BACK TO MY SHOP, WHERE MECHANICS SAID THEY COULD NOT GET THE ENGINE TO TURN. THEY SAID THE OIL PUMP HAD FAILED. OIL WAS IN THE ENGINE BUT WASN'T CIRCULATING, AND THEY FOUND FRESH OIL AND METAL SHAVINGS IN THE PAN. I PAID $3,819 FOR A COMPLETE ENGINE REBUILD FOR A FOUR-YEAR OLD CAR. SEARCHING THE INTERNET AND THIS WEBSITE, I SEE A NUMBER OF OWNERS OF 2007 TOYOTA CAMRYS HIGHLIGHTING PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR'S ENGINE, INCLUDING SLUDGE BUILD UP. I HAVE RECEIVED NO INFORMATION FROM THE DEALER ABOUT RECALLS. THE USED CAR WARRANTY COVERED THE ENGINE BUT ITS DURATION WAS 30 DAYS OR 1K MILES, WHICHEVER CAME FIRST. IN ADDITION, THE SUN VISOR ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE CONTINUALLY SLIPS, OBSCURING THE VIEW OF TRAFFIC ON THE RIGHT, AND WILL NOT REMAIN IN PLACE - A PROBLEM I SEE OTHER OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE REPORT. I DON'T SEE A PLACE TO ENTER THIS, BUT THERE WERE NO INJURIES OR DEATHS BECAUSE I WAS ABLE TO PULL OUT OF TRAFFIC WHILE THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING. *KB

HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS CAME ON AND WOULD NOT TURN OFF. FUSES HAD TO BE PULLED DUE TO THE BATTERY BEING DRAINED. ONLINE RESEARCH SHOWS THERE IS AN APPARENT PROBLEM WITH THE HEADLIGHT RELAY OR SWITCH BUT THERE IS NO INFORMATION ONLINE WHERE THEY ARE LOCATED. ALSO THERE IS A SEVERE KNOCKING NOISE IN THE FRONT END. THE RACK AND PINION HAD TO BE CHANGED AS WELL AS THE STRUTS AND THE CAR DOESN'T EVEN HAVE 50K MILES ON IT. TOYOTA IS JUNK! *TT
DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR HAS BROKEN AND WILL RANDOMLY DROP DOWN INTO FIELD OF VIEW WHILE DRIVING - WHILE THIS DOES NOT APPEAR TO AFFECT MY WIFE'S VISIBILITY (SHE IS 5' 1"), IT WILL COMPLETELY BLOCK MY NORMAL FIELD OF VIEW (I AM 6' 1"). I CAN ONLY SEE IMMEDIATELY IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WHEN IT DOES THIS AND REQUIRES ME TO DUCK DOWN QUICKLY TO TRY TO SEE WHILE TRYING TO MOVE THE VISOR AWAY AT THE SAME TIME. THIS COULD HAVE DISASTROUS CONSEQUENCES IF IT HAPPENED WHILE MERGING OR PULLING INTO TRAFFIC. *TT
THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR BROKE WITHOUT THE USE OF EXCESSIVE FORCE. IT FLOPS DOWN WHETHER IT IS TILTED FORWARD OR BACKWARD. I CAN'T SEE TO DRIVE UNLESS I MOVE IT TO THE SIDE, BUT THEN IT BLOCKS 80% OF THE VIEW FROM THE DRIVER'S WINDOW. I HAVE TO LEAN FORWARD TO SEE MY SIDE MIRROR. THIS IS ESPECIALLY A PROBLEM AT NIGHT. *TR

ON OR ABOUT SEPTEMBER, 2011, AND WITHIN WARRANTY, MY OIL LIGHT CAME ON. I IMMEDIATELY WENT TO IRA TOYOTA. I HAD TWO QUARTS OF OIL REMAINING IN CRANKCASE. THEY CONDUCTED AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST, ONE OF THREE, AND TOLD ME THAT THE LOSS OF ONE HALF QUART PER 1,000 MILES WAS WITHIN SPECS. RUBBISH. I THEN COMPLAINED TO TOYOTA MOTOR SALES, USA, INC. THEY SENT ME THEIR ENGINEER WHO STATED THAT TOYOTA WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY PERFORMED ANOTHER OIL CONSUMPTION TEST, OF COURSE. NEVER SAW ENGINEER AGAIN. BEFORE ENGINEER, IRA TOYOTA OFFERED TO FIX IT. THEY CLAIMED IT WAS A $1,500 JOB AND IF I GAVE THEM $150.00, THEY WOULD FIX IT. THEY "REPAIRED AUTO" BUT IT REMAINED THE SAME. AND THEY KEPT THE $150. THEY KEPT LYING TO ME FOR A YEAR. THEN, THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD NOT HONOR MY COMPLAINT. NOW, MY AUTO USES ONE QUART OF OIL PER 600 MILES. TOYOTA IS A FRAUD. THEY HAVE SO MANY COMPLAINTS THAT THEY CANNOT FINANCIALLY TAKE CARE OF ALL OF THEM. THEIR VEHICLES ARE LEMONS AND THEIR WARRANTIES ARE WORTHLESS. (SHORT VERSION) *TR
I HAD AN OIL CHANGE 2K MILES AGO BY A CERTIFIED TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND YESTERDAY NOTICED THAT MY OIL LIGHT KEPT TURNING ON AS I ACCELERATED AND DECELERATED. CHECKED THE OIL WITH THE DIPSTICK AND IT WAS NOT REGISTERING. HAD TO PUT 3 QUARTS OF OIL IN TO BRING IT BACK UP TO FULL. HAD TOYOTA CHECK AND THERE WERE NO LEAKS. SAID THAT ITS UNCOMMON THAT THIS IS HAPPENING. AND IT COULD BE BURNING OIL. THAT'S 1 QUART EVERY 1000 MILES WHICH IS UNHEARD OF! I CHECKED ONLINE AFTER MY VISIT WITH TOYOTA AND FOUND OUT THAT THERE IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM! I ONLY HAVE 76K ON THE ENGINE AND MY WARRANTY RAN OUT AT 65K. DEALER SAID EITHER PAY TO HAVE THE ENGINE REBUILT OR BUY A NEW CAR. THEN SAID THAT HE SUGGESTS TO BUY A NEW CAR AND DUMP THIS ONE BEFORE THE PROBLEM GETS WORSE!!!
WHILE MY FIANCEE WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON THE FREEWAY ONE EVENING IN THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER 2011, THE LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT SUDDENLY CAME ON. WHEN SHE ARRIVED HOME I CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL AND FOUND THAT IT WAS APPROXIMATELY 3 QUARTS LOW (MAXIMUM CAPACITY IS 4.5 QUARTS). I HAD THE VEHICLE INSPECTED AT A LOCAL FACILITY, LEXOLOGY, THAT SPECIALIZES IN TOYOTA/LEXUS. THE OWNER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC AND TOLD ME IT WAS A KNOWN EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION WITH THE 2AZ-F3 ENGINES. HE SHOWED ME THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (T-SB-0094-11), AND INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT WOULD EVENTUALLY LEAD TO COLLATERAL DAMAGE OF THE VEHICLE IGNITION AND EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM THAT WOULD ADVERSELY AFFECT THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE AND INCREASE ITS CARBON FOOTPRINT. I SUBSEQUENTLY TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE AN INSPECTION TEST WAS PERFORMED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE TSB AND THE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM WAS CONFIRMED. I CONTACTED TOYOTA AND OPENED A CASE NUMBER (1202062104). THERE WERE SEVERAL EXCHANGES BY PHONE AND IN WRITING WITH TOYOTA IN ATTEMPT TO GET TOYOTA TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND OWNERSHIP OF THE PROBLEM. THE EXCHANGES WERE UNSUCCESSFUL AND I FILED A SMALL CLAIMS SUIT (SUPERIOR COURT OF CALIFORNIA CASE # 13S00672). THE SMALL CLAIMS SUIT WAS ALSO UNSUCCESSFUL AND I AM NOW TAKING ANY AND ALL ACTION WITHIN MY POWER TO BRING THE MATTER TO THE ATTENTION OF OTHERS. I CAN SEE BY OTHER FILED COMPLAINTS THAT THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM. PERSONAL IMPACT ASIDE, THIS IS A VEHICLE AND ENVIRONMENTAL SAFETY ISSUE. I PUT ALMOST AS MUCH OIL IN THE CAR EVERY WEEK AS I DO GASOLINE. THE ADDITIONAL EMISSIONS CAUSED BY THE OIL BURNING IS BEING OFFSET PARTIALLY BY THE EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM, BUT ONLY PARTIALLY, AND EVENTUALLY WILL FAIL TO FILTER IT OUT ALTOGETHER. I URGE NHTSA TO TAKE ACTION AND RAISE THIS TO RECALL STATUS AND HOLD TOYOTA ACCOUNTABLE. *TR

I WOULD LIKE TO REQUEST THAT THE NHTSA TO INVESTIGATE A SERIOUS FAILURE ASSOCIATED WITH THE BRAKE SYSTEMS ON 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY CARS. ON TUESDAY 9/6/11, THE BRAKE PEDAL ON OUR CAMRY WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE CAR DID NOT SLOW DOWN WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING IT. WHEN I CHECKED THE LEVEL OF THE BRAKE FLUID IN THE RESERVOIR IT WAS AT ITS NORMAL LEVEL BETWEEN MIN AND MAX. OUT OF SAFETY CONCERN FOR MY WIFE AND SON, I TOOK THE CAR TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP SO THAT THE COULD IDENTIFY THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM AND FIX IT I FELT THAT THEY WOULD BE THE BEST CHOICE. THEY SAID THAT THE BRAKE PADS ARE FINE AND THAT THEY STILL HAVE 60% LIFE REMAINING ON THEM, THERE IS NO BRAKE FLUID LEAKAGE ANYWHERE AND THAT THEY HAVE DRIVEN IT AND THEY CAN NOT MAKE THE SAME FAILURE TO HAPPEN AGAIN. THE SERVICE ADVISOR'S INPUT WAS THAT IN CASE THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENS AGAIN JUST APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. I PICKED UP THE CAR FROM THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT, AND I DROVE IT MYSELF FOR A FEW MILES AND I DID NOT NOTICE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES EITHER. THIS INCIDENT HAS LEFT ME AND MY WIFE PUZZLED, CONCERNED, FRIGHTENED AND WORRIED THAT THE SAME FAILURE COULD HAPPEN AGAIN WITH AN UNPLEASANT RESULTS AND THAT OTHER TOYOTA CAMRY USERS MAY EXPERIENCE A SIMILAR PROBLEM. THEY STATED THAT THERE WILL ABSOLUTELY NOT BE ANY REPAIR ASSISTANCE UNLESS THEY DECIDE TO ISSUE A RECALL. BASCIALLY SAYING THIS IS MY PROBLEM AND THAT I HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT NO MATTER HOW COSTLY. SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION ON AUGUST 25TH 2011 AT APPROXIMATELY 1:00 PM, MY DAD WAS DRIVING TO GARVEY RANCH PARK LOCATED AT (781 S ORANGE AVE, MONTEREY PARK, CA 91755) AS PART OF HIS DAILY ROUTINE. HE HAD ALREADY PULLED INTO THE PARKING LOT AND WAS GETTING READY TO PARK HIS CAR FACING NORTH BOUND. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR ACCELERATED OUT OF NOWHERE AND HOPED THE PARKING CURB STILL FACING NORTHBOUND. IN ORDER TO AVOID ANY CASUALTIES AND PREVENT HITTING ANY OF THE CHILDREN NEAR THE PLAYGROUND, HE WAS ABLE TO STEER THE CAR AND MADE A U-TURN AT ABOUT 150 DEGREES. AT THIS POINT HE WAS FACING SOUTH BOUND OF THE PARKING LOT AND THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE AT HIGH SPEEDS. HIS CAR THEN HOPPED THE CURB ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE PARKING LOT. ONCE THE CAR HOPPED THE PARKING CURB ON THE SOUTH SIDE, IT CONTINUED TO HOP OVER A COUPLE OF RAISED CONCRETE BLOCKS THAT DELINEATE A PATH ONTO THE HILLSIDE JUST SOUTH OF THE PARKING LOT. DUE TO THE STEEPNESS OF THE HILL, IT PREVENTED THE CAR FROM GOING ANY FURTHER AND THE CAR CRASHED IN BETWEEN TWO TREES LOCATED ON THE HILLSIDE. WE HAD ALREADY TAKEN THE CAR TO LONGO TOYOTA DUE TO THE ACCELERATION RECALL BACK ON MARCH 13 2010. I COULDN'T BELIEVE THE CAR STILL HAD MECHANICAL ISSUES AFTER WE HAD IT SERVICED IT FOR THE RECALL AND WAS GLAD THAT MY DAD DID NOT SUSTAIN A VERY SERIOUS INJURY. I WAS DRIVING MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY WHEN SPARKS FLEW FROM UNDER THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT SEAT, THEN CAME A POPPING SOUND. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN, BUT THIS TIME A FLAME CAME AFTER THE SPARKS. I WAS DRIVING AROUND 55 MPH WHENEVER THIS HAPPENED, AND I WAS ON A VERY BUSY FREEWAY DURING RUSH HOUR (5:30 P.M.) TRAFFIC. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF TO THE SHOULDER, BUT BY THEN THE FIRE WAS SPREADING ACROSS THE DRIVERS SEAT. I WAS ABLE TO STOP BY USING THE TIP OF MY TOES TO APPLY THE BRAKES. THE FIRE BURNED MY PANT LEGS SIGNIFICANTLY, WHILE BURNING A COUPLE AREAS OF MY CALVES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ABLE TO PUT THE FIRE OUT, BUT BY THEN MY CAR WAS TOTALED. THE FIREMAN AND MY INSURANCE INVESTIGATOR STATED THAT THEY BELIEVED THE FIRE STARTED BECAUSE OF ELECTRICAL, WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN FROM MY POWER SEATS. LUCKILY, MYSELF NOR ANYONE ELSE WAS KILLED DURING THIS HORRENDOUS ORDEAL.
