TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN TO THE DEALER FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. WHILE INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THEY FOUND THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER AND REAR DRIVER SIDE STRUTS WERE LEAKING. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE STRUTS NEEDED REPLACING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,992 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 35,000. UPDATED 03/09/12 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED ON APRIL 5, 2011, SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE. SHE WAS INFORMED THE RIGHT AND LEFT REAR STRUTS WERE LEAKING. THE CONSUMER WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD HER VEHICLE DID MEET THE REQUIREMENTS BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAD LESS THAN 35,000 MILES. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS MORE THAN THREE YEARS OLD. THEY OFFERED TO REPLACE THE STRUTS AT A COST OF $ 668.77. THE CONSUMER WENT FOR HER 35,000 MILE CHECK-UP A MONTH LATER, AND WAS INFORMED ONE OF THE STRUTS HAD WORSENED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SUN VISOR WOULD CONTINOUSLY FALL FROM ITS HOUSING WHETHER THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING OR BRAKING TO A STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
PARKED THE AUTO, WAS IN A MEETING FOR 45 MIN. STARTED THE AUTO AND "CHECK VSC SYSTEM" WARNING CAME ON. TRIED DRIVING AND BRAKES WERE ERRATIC, TOOK TO DEALER, THEY SAID THAT THEY HAD TO REPROGRAM THE COMPUTER BECAUSE I HAD DONE SOMETHING TO THE BATTERY. NOT TRUE. BUT IT SEEMED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED AS IT PERFORMED OK. ON MAY 29, 2014 I BACKED THE CAR OUT OF OUR GARAGE AND PARKED IT ON THE STREET, ABOUT ONE HOUR LATER I STARTED IT TO RETURN IT TO THE GARAGE AND THE "CHECK VSC SYSTEM" CAME ON AND THE BRAKES WERE VERY ERRATIC. I THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE CLOSEST DEALER AND THEY CHECKED IT AND INFORMED ME THAT THE BRAKE CONTROL COMPUTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT ACCOST OF NEARLY $2000.00. AS THIS APPEARS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE I FEEL THAT TOYOTA SHOULD HAVE RECALLED THE VEHICLE AND REPLACED THE DEFECTIVE PARTS UNDER A RECALL PROGRAM. I FEEL VERY FORTUNATE THAT THE BRAKE CONTROL COMPUTER DID NOT FAIL WHILE THE CAR WAS MOVING. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC SHOP FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE WHERE IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT ALL FOUR SHOCKS WERE LEAKING FLUIDS ABNORMALLY. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE LEAK WAS NORMAL AND THERE WAS NO NEED TO REPLACE THE SHOCKS. THEY ALSO INFORMED HIM THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED HIM TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DIFFERENT DEALER FOR A SECOND OPINION AND POSSIBLE REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.

I PURCHASED THIS AUTOMOBILE NEW IN 2007. APPROX 2 YEARS AGO THE DASH BOARD STARTED TO MELT. IT IS PRESENTLY VERY SOFT AND STICKY TO THE TOUCH. IF YOU TOUCH IT WITH ANYTHING FIRM LIKE A FINGER OF EDGE OF A SUN VISOR IT LEAVES A PERMANENT MARK. SMALL PIECES ARE COMING OFF THE EDGES OF THE DASH OVER THE NAVIGATION SCREEN. CAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN IN THE GARAGE WHEN AT HOME AND I HAVE ALWAYS USED A SUN VISOR WHEN PARKED AWAY FROM HOME. *TR

MY 2007 CAMRY XLE IS EQUIPPED WITH A SMART KEY SYSTEM. WHEN I ENTER THE CAR I DEPRESS THE FOOT BREAK PEDDLE AND WAIT FOR THE GREEN LIGHT ON THE START BUTTON TO TURN GREEN WHEN IT DOES I START THE CAR. BUT SOME TIME THERE IS NO LIGHT YELLOW OR GREEN. I WAIT A SHORT WHILE AND TRY AGAIN AND MAYBE THERE IS A GREEN LIGHT OR A YELLOW LIGHT OR NOTHING. I CHANGED THE REMOTE BATTERY BUT THAT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I CALLED THE DEALER THEY TOLD ME TO BRING THE CAMRY IN FOR A TEST AND THE COST WILL BE $ 90.00 I THINK THIS IS NOT FAIR. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SUN VISOR OF THE VEHICLE SNAPPED AND WOULD NOT STAY IN THE UPWARD POSITION, MAKING IT DIFFICULT FOR THE DRIVER TO SEE. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED, NOR WAS THE MANUFACTURER OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,000.

A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE DRIVER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO CONFIRMED THAT THERE WAS ENOUGH DAMAGE DONE TO THE VEHICLE TO ACTIVATE THE AIR BAGS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS SENT PICTURES OF THE CRASH AND DETERMINED THAT THE DAMAGES WERE NOT SUBSTANTIAL ENOUGH TO TRIGGER THE AIR BAG SENSOR FOR DEPLOYMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
WE OWN A 2007 CAMRY HYBRID. ABOUT NOON CENTRAL TIME TODAY, MY WIFE WAS ATTEMPTING TO PARK THE CAR AT A LOCAL GYM. AS SHE SLOWLY TURNED INTO THE PARKING POSITION, THE ENGINE RACED VERY FAST AND THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD PAST THE ENDLINE OF THE PARKING POSITION AND STOPPED AFTER JUMPING OVER THE CEMENT BARRIER. SHE DESCRIBED STEPPING ON THE BRAKE AND THE CAR DID STOP BUT UNFORTUNATELY NOT UNTIL IT HAD GONE WELL PAST THE ENDLINE FOR THE PARKING POSITION. *TR
MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY LE'S DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR LAST WEEK START TO DROOP DOWN AND WOULD NOT STAY IN THE UP POSITION CAUSING AN OBSTRUCTION OF MY DRIVING VIEW. I HAD TO TURN THE VISOR TO THE SIDE BUT THAT EVENTUALLY STOPPED ROTATING TOO. IT TURNS OUT THE METAL INSERT HAD COME OUT AND WAS NO LONGER PROVIDING ANY TRACTION TO THE VISOR. APPARENTLY THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE OTHER COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE SAME ISSUE WITH TOYOTA CAMRY'S AROUND THAT YEAR'S MODEL. IT WAS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE AND I HAD TO REMOVE THE VISOR MANUALLY FOR MY OWN SAFETY AND FOUND THAT THE PARTS INSIDE WERE DAMAGED. MY SUSPICION IS THAT IT WAS POORLY CONSTRUCTED SINCE MY 1998 TOYOTA CAMRY HAS HAD NO SUN VISOR ISSUES AFTER 13 YEARS OF WEAR AND TEAR. LUCKILY I NOTICED PROBLEM AND DID NOT START DRIVING IMMEDIATELY. I HAD TO USE MY LEFT ARM TO HOLD THE SUN VISOR UP FOR MY DRIVE BACK HOME. THIS IS AN EXTREME SAFETY ISSUE AS THIS CAN POTENTIALLY CAUSE SIGNIFICANT VISIBILITY ISSUES AND LEAD TO ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS. 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY XLE WITH 32,000 MILES: DRIVER'S SIDE INTERIOR SUN VISOR FAILS TO STAY IN UPRIGHT POSITION AND LOCKING CLIP SNAPPED INSIDE VISOR WHEN ATTEMPTING TO SECURE. THE VISOR HAS HAD PROBLEMS BEING LOOSE FOR MONTHS AND FALLS DOWN WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS. THE CLIP WOULD OCCASIONALLY COME UNDONE, CAUSING THE VISOR TO SWING OPEN. WHEN CLICKING THE VISOR'S LOCK BAR INTO THE ROOF LOCK, THE BAR BROKE OFF WITH MINOR FORCE APPLIED. NOW VISOR WILL NOT STAY IN PLACE IN ANY POSITION, CAUSING DANGEROUS VISIBILITY ISSUE. AUTH DEALER OFFERED TO REPLACE FOR $185, SAYING CANNOT REPAIR. STEEP PRICE FOR SIMILAR PROBLEM ENCOUNTERED BY MANY MANY OTHER 2007 CAMRY OWNERS. *TR
MY 2007 CAMRY'S DASHBOARD SEEMS TO BE "MELTING." IT IS VERY STICKY AND REFLECTS A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD - MAKING IT HARD TO SEE. I AM AFRAID IT WILL EVENTUALLY LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE HEARD OF OTHERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, SO I KNOW THERE MUST BE A SOLUTION OR A RECALL SOON. TOYOTA CHANGED DASHBOARD MATERIAL IN 2009 (FROM WHAT I HEARD ON THE NEWS) SO IT MAKES ME BELIEVE THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE ISSUE... PLEASE HELP! *TR
THE VISORS STOPPED STAYING UP, THEY ARE NOT WORKING, FIRST THE DRIVERS SIDE BROKE, IT JUST FALLS DOWN AND WILL NOT STAY UP. THEN ABOUT 3 MONTHS LATER THE PASSENGER SIDE FELL DOWN, I HAVE TO USE A STRAIGHT PEN TO MASH THEM TO STAY UP. MY VEHICLE IS CONSUMING OIL IN EXTREME QUANTITIES, A QUART EVERY 800-1000 MILES. THE PROBLEM IS MANUFACTURERS DEFECTIVE PISTONS AND PISTON RINGS AND TOYOTA KNOWS ABOUT IT BUT DENIES TO TAKE ACTION. I HAVE TO FILL MY ENGINE WITH THE OIL EVERY 2800 MILES OR SO OR TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR OIL CHANGE. MY ENGINE, I'M AFRAID WILL DEFECT IN DRIVING CAUSING HARM TO ME AND OTHERS AROUND ME BECAUSE I DON'T FOLLOW MY MILEAGE AND ONLY WAY I KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM MY OIL LIGHT FLASHES ON AND OFF WHEN I'M BRAKING THAT'S THE SIGN THAT I HAVE TO GET OIL CHANGE. NOW ITS NOT ENVIRONMENTAL EITHER EVEN THOUGH TOYOTA CLAIMS THAT ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION IS COMING OUT THEIR EARS ALL THE TIME WHEN THAT MUCH OIL IS BURNED INTO THE AIR AND FUNNY THING IS IT DOESN'T EVEN SMOKE IN TAIL PIPE AND VEHICLE PASSES EVERY EMISSION TEST. HOW??? I DON'T KNOW. ALL I KNOW IS THAT MY ENGINE IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY DUE TO NO FAULT OF MY OWN AND DUE TO MANUFACTURER DEFAULTED PARTS BECAUSE I WAS TOLD BY SERVICE GUY THAT OTHER YEAR TOYOTAS HAVE DIFFERENT PISTONS AND PISTON RINGS AND I ASSUME IT WOULD BE RIGHT FOR OUR CARS TO RECEIVE THOSE BECAUSE WE PAID FULL AMOUNT FOR THESE CARS AND WE SHOULDN'T RECEIVE SHORT END OF THE STICK. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD VIOLENTLY JERK AND SUDDENLY ACCELERATE WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WOULD ALSO SHIFT GEARS INDEPENDENTLY BETWEEN SECOND AND FOURTH GEARS. WHEN THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR, THE ENGINE WOULD EXHIBIT AN ABNORMAL INCREASE IN RPMS AND WOULD FLUCTUATE BACK AND FORTH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE SHE WAS INFORMED THAT SHE WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000.
2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. CONSUMER STATES VEHICLE HAS A VERY LOUD SCREECH FROM THE REAR BRAKE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE *TGW THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THERE WAS TRASH ON THE BRAKE SHOE AND IT WOULD EVENTUALLY WEAR OFF. THE CONSUMER STATED IT HAS BEEN 4 1/2 YEARS AND THE NOISE IS STILL PRESENT. *JB

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
THE DRIVERS SIDE SUN VISOR NO LONGER STAYS IN THE UP OURT OF THE WAY POSITION. THE VISOR NOW FLOPS DOWN AND DOES NOT STAY UP CAUSING A EMPAIRMENT OF YOUR VISION. IF PUSHED TO THE SIDE WINDOW IT IS STILL DOWN BLOCKING MY SIDE VISION. THIS IS A VERY COMMON COMPAINT FROM MANY TOYOTA CAMRY OWNERS. *TR
THE DASHBOARD OF MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY SE HAS BEEN MELTING AND THERE IS A SHINE REFLECTION OF THE DASHBOARD IN THE WINDSHIELD CREATING A VISIBILITY PROBLEM. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW WHEN IT CAME OUT AT MAROON TOYOTA AT WESTON, FL. WHEN I STARTED WITH THE PROBLEM I TOOK IT TO THIS DEALERSHIP AND THE MANAGER SAID MY CAR WAS OUR OF WARRANTY AND COULD DO NOTHING. I ALSO TOOK IT TO HEADQUARTERS TOYOTA IN MIAMI WHERE I HAVE BEEN TAKING MY CAR FOR MAINTENANCE AND I GOT THE SAME REPLY. I CALLED TOYOTA USA AND THE AGENT SAID HE CAN'T DO ANYTHING ELSE EITHER BECAUSE THE DASHBOARD OF THE CAR HAS A WARRANTY OF ONLY 3 YEARS. THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT OF THE CAR. I NEVER HEARD OF A MELTING DASHBOARD AND MY CAR RIGHT NOW HAS LESS THAN 65K AND THIS STARTED WHEN IT WAS AROUND 50K MILES. PLEASE, CAN YOU HELP? I AM SURE I CANNOT BE THE ONLY ONE COMPLAINING. I NOTICED WHEN APPLYING SUDDEN BRAKES LOW ENGINE OIL LIGHT CAME ON BUT IT WENT AWAY WHEN BRAKES WERE RELEASED. I THOUGHT IT MAY BE TIME FOR OIL CHANGE AND GOT OIL CHANGE DONE SHORTLY. THAT PROBLEM DIDN'T CAME BACK TILL FEW MONTHS LATER. I HAD MY OIL CHANGE DONE FROM THE DEALER AND THE SERVICE WAS NOT DUE YET SO I WENT TO THE NEARBY AUTO SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME IT DIDN'T SHOW ANY OIL IN THE DIPSTICK SO THEY DID THE OIL CHANGE AND FILLED IT UP(NO VISIBLE PROBLEM NOTICED). I THOUGHT I WILL GET IT INSPECTED WITH THE DEALER ON MY NEXT VISIT. NEXT TIME WHEN I WENT TO DEALER I MENTIONED IT AND THEY WERE TOO BUSY TO CHECK THAT BUT THEY DID VISUAL INSPECTION AND DIDN'T SEE ANY PROBLEM OR LEAKS. AGAIN AFTER SAME ISSUE THEY TOLD ME TO COME AFTER 1200 MILES AFTER OIL CHANGE BUT THEY DIDN'T FIND ANY PROBLEM. I HAD TO CARRY THE OIL WITH ME JUST IN CASE AS THE NEARBY AUTO PLACE TOLD ME IT WAS ABNORMAL. I HAD TO TOP IT UP AGAIN SHORTLY AS THE DIP STICK SHOWED NO OIL. I COMPLAINED TO THE DEALER AGAIN AND THEY TOLD ME TO COME BACK AFTER 2500 MILES AND THEY SEALED THE KNOB WITH SILICON OR SOMETHING SO IT CANNOT BE TAMPERED WITH AND THEY TOLD ME TO COME ON WEEKDAY SO THEY CAN TALK TO THE TOYOTA ENGINEER. WHEN I RETURNED THEY TESTED IT AND FOUND NORMAL CONSUMPTION AND NO PROBLEM FOUND. I AM STILL FACING THAT PROBLEM AND I CALLED TOYOTA HOTLINE AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD GO BY THE DEALERS OPINION ON THAT AND THERE WAS NO KNOWN PROBLEM ON THE VEHICLE. WHEN I READ THESE POSTS ON THIS WEBSITE THEN IT DEFINITELY SEEMS LIKE A PROBLEM AND NOW MY VEHICLE IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY EITHER . MY ENGINE IS STILL FINE, ONLY PROBLEM IS I HAVE TO CHANGE OIL TOO FREQUENTLY. IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO ENGINE IN FUTURE I DEFINITELY HOPE TOYOTA WILL COVER IT SINCE THEY HAVEN'T IDENTIFIED ANY PROBLEM ON MY ENGINE AFTER SO MANY VISITS. *TR
DASHBOARD IS STICKY AND THE CONDITION IS GETTING WORSE BY THE DAY. THE WHOLE DASHBOARD IS MELTING AND THIS ALSO CREATES A SAFETY HAZARD SINCE THE VISIBILITY IS IMPAIRED BY THE GLARE WHEN DAYS ARE SUNNY. WE BOUGHT A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY IN OCTOBER 06 AND HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING LOW OIL LEVELS FOR THE PAST 3 YEARS. ON A COUPLE OF OCCASIONS, THE OIL LEVEL HAS GOTTEN SO LOW THAT THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON. WE HAVE BEEN REPORTING THE PROBLEM TO TWO SEPARATE TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS AND THEY'VE ASKED ME TO RETURN THE CAR FOR OIL CHECKS AFTER 1000 MILES, WHICH SHOW A LOST OF OVER A QUART OF OIL. OUR TOYOTA DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN TELLING US THAT IT IS NORMAL FOR THE CAMRY TO CONSUME OVER A QUART OF OIL AFTER 1000 TO 3,000 MILES AND THERE IS NO PROBLEM TO FIX. I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THROUGH FIDELITY AND A SERVICE SPECIALIST BY THE NAME OF [XXX] AT TOYOTA OF ORLANDO BEEN GIVING ME THE RUN AROUND ABOUT GETTING FIDELITY TO GIVE THEM THE GO AHEAD TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. HE SAID THAT HE HAS CALLED FIDELITY A COUPLE OF TIMES TO GET AUTHORIZATION BUT THEY HAVE NOT GOTTEN BACK WITH HIM BUT WILL CONTACT US WHEN HE GETS THE OK. IT HAS BEEN OVER TWO WEEKS SINCE HE SAID HE HAS BEEN TRYING TO GET THE GO AHEAD FROM FIDELITY, SO WE DECIDED TO CALL FIDELITY TO FIND OUT WHY THEY WERE DELAYING GIVING THE DEALERSHIP THE GO AHEAD TO FIX THE CAR, SEEING THAT WE HAVE THE PLATINUM PLACE. FIDELITY INFORMED US THAT NO ONE FROM TOYOTA OF ORLANDO HAS EVER CONTACTED THEM AT ANY TIME ABOUT OUR 2007 CAMRY. WE THEN SPOKE WITH A SERVICE MANAGER BY THE NAME OF [XXX] AND HE HAS BEEN GIVING ME THE SAME STORY ABOUT IT IS NOT UNUSUAL FOR THE CAMRY TO CONSUME OVER A QUART OF OIL BETWEEN 1000 TO 3000 MILES, SO THERE IS NOTHING TO FIX. WE HAVE OWNED OVER 8 CARS AND HAS NEVER HAD THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM. I HAVE SPOKEN TO SEVERAL MECHANICS AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THIS PROBLEM SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING TO A NEWER MODEL CAR LIKE OURS. I OWNED A 2007 CAMRY LE. ON 3/05/11 MY BRAKES FAILED WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. I CAREENED ACROSS THE HIGHWAY AND THEN THE CAR STARTED FLIPPING. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED HIM THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 53,600.
