TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, AND AIR BAG LIGHT WOULD INTERMITTENTLY ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
WHILE ON FREEWAY DRIVER SIDE TIRE BURST ALL OF SUDDEN WITHOUT ANY APPARENT REASON. I WAS IN THE SECOND LANE FROM RIGHT AND COULD SAFELY TOOK CAR ON THE SHOULDER. CALLED TOYOTA ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE AND TOWED THE CAR TO NEARBY DEALERSHIP. THEY ASSESSED DAMAGE TO ALLOY WHEEL, TIRE SENSOR AND ASCENDER LINER ALONG WITH TIRE. FOR ANY WARRANTY ISSUED ASKED ME TO CONTACT TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE. TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE DIRECTED TO BRIDGETONE TIRES SAYING ITS NOT THEIR RESPONSIBILITY. *TR
WHEN EASING OUT FROM A NEAR STOP AND APPLY THE GAS THE CAR STALLS. IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW MUCH GAS YOU GIVE IT, THE CAR JUST STALLS. YOU HAVE TO LET UP ON THE GAS PEDAL AND IT TRIES TO CATCH UP WITH GREATER SPEED THAN YOU NEED. I HAVE TAKEN THIS PROBLEM TO 2 TOYOTA DEALERS SEVERAL TIMES SINCE THE FIRST PROBLEM AND THEY HAVE NOT CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. THE FIRST TIME THE DEALER REP SAID IT WAS SUPPOSE TO DO THIS. THE OTHER DEALER SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. I HAVE ALMOST GOTTEN HIT A FEW TIMES BECAUSE IT HAS STALLED WHEN I WAS HALF-WAY INTO THE LANE OF ON-COMING TRAFFIC AND I DON'T TRY AT ALL TO BEAT TRAFFIC.
2012 TOYOTA CAMRY. DAUGHTER WROTE IN ON BEHALF OF MOTHER. CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE, BY PRESSING ON THE BRAKE. *SS THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO STOP, AS SHE APPROACHED A STOP SIGN. THE DRIVER EVENTUALLY CRASHED INTO A FENCE. *JB
NO MATTER WHERE I PARK RODENTS ARE FINDING WAYS TO GET INTO MY CAR. I DO NOT KEEP FOOD IN THE CAR AND I HAVE DONE SEVERAL DIFFERENT THINGS TO PREVENT THEM GETTING IN. INCLUDING MOVING MY CAR AROUND TO PLACES OTHER THAN MY DESIGNATED COVERED PARKING SPOT. MY DEALER HAS TOLD ME TO PISS OFF. AS HAS TOYOTA, BUT IT WOULD APPEAR THAT TOYOTA SWITCHED OVER TO MORE ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY INSULATION MATERIALS IN RECENT YEARS. I PURCHASED THIS 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY BRAND NEW. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR TWO YEARS NOW AND IT WOULD APPEAR I'M NOT THE ONLY PERSON EXPERIENCING THIS AS IS APPARENT FROM THE LINKS BELOW. I HAVE EXTENSIVE PICTURES OF WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO MY CAR. THIS ALSO HASN'T BEEN AN ISSUE FOR ANY OF THE OTHER VEHICLES IN MY PARKING LOT AND MY PREVIOUS CAR WAS PARKED THERE FOR YEARS WITHOUT ISSUE (A DIFFERENT MANUFACTURER). I ALSO PARK OUR OLDER TOYOTA MATRIX (2003) AND TOYOTA MR2 SPYDER (2000) IN THAT SPOT AND I HAVE NOT HAD ANY ISSUES WITH EITHER VEHICLE. I BELIEVE OUR OLDER TOYOTA MODELS HAVE VERY DIFFERENT MATERIALS THAT AREN'T AS ATTRACTIVE TO RODENTS. I FIRMLY BELIEVE THIS HAS TO DO WITH TOYOTA'S MOVE TO MORE ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY MATERIALS. JUST TONIGHT I FINALLY HAVE HAD ENOUGH BECAUSE THESE CREATURES CHEWED INTO MY TRUNK AND WERE CHEWING UP THE MATERIALS IN MY TRUNK NEAR THE HYBRID BATTERY. I'M PARKED IN A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT AREA AND IT'S STILL HAPPENING. THIS ISN'T A COINCIDE! I HAVE SOME SERIOUS HEALTH AND SAFETY CONCERNS HERE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED CHEST AND SHOULDER INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A BODY SHOP BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED OR INSPECTED TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE AIR BAG FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE SITTING AT A STOP SIGN WITH THE DOORS LOCKED, THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE DOOR WAS ABLE TO BE OPENED FROM THE EXTERIOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE MOTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,361. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. *TR
WHEN A LIGHT TURNS GREEN AND I TRY AND GO FORWARD MY TOYOTA CAMRY WILL NOT ACCELERATE FOR 2 TO 7 SECONDS. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR SOFTWARE THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO FIX THE ISSUE, HOW EVER IT IS STILL HAPPENING. THE ISSUE IS INTERMITTENT OCCURRING ABOUT EVERY 1000 MILES. IN THE LAST 4 MONTHS ANOTHER ISSUE HAS HAPPENED WHERE I WILL BE GOING ALONG AT ABOUT 30 MILES PER HOUR AND SUDDENLY THE CAR WILL STALL OUT FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS, THIS HAS HAPPENED 6 TIMES NOW. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO TWO TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS THE FIRST ONE REFUSED TO LOOK AT IT WITHOUT ME PAYING A DIAGNOSTIC FEE, THE OTHER TOYOTA KEPT THE CAR FOR A WEEK AND SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM SO THERE WAS NOTHING THEY WOULD DO. I CALLED TOYOTA NATIONAL SERVICE CENTER AT 1 888 2709371 AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NOTHING THEY WILL DO BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. MY ISSUE IS THEY KNOW THERE IS AN ISSUE, THEY SENT ME A LETTER STATING THAT THERE MIGHT BE PROBLEMS AND THEY VOLUNTARILY EXTENDED MY WARRANTY ON THE SPECIFIC PARTS THEY KNOW CAN CAUSE ISSUES. I AM CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY, AND HAVE TRIED TO GET THE ISSUE RESOLVED. WHAT ARE THE NEXT STEPS I CAN TAKE TO GET THE ISSUE FIXED. *TR
I HAVE A 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY THAT I PURCHASED NEW FROM THE MILITARY CAR SALES IN ANSBACH, GERMANY. I FIRST EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM IN AUGUST 2012 WHEN THE CAR WOULD SHIFT IT WOULD SHUDDER. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT TO BE A FUEL PROBLEM BUT IT WAS NOT. AFTER A FEW MONTHS IT GOT WORSE. I WAS IN TRAFFIC DRIVING OFF FROM A STOP LIGHT AND THE CAR SHUDDERED AND DID NOT GAIN SPEED AND I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED UNTIL I PUT THE CAR IN THE "S" GEAR SETTING AND MANUALLY DOWNSHIFTED TOE 2ND FOR MORE POWER. THAT WAS THE TEMPORARY SOLUTION WHILE DRIVING IN THE CITY. WINTER DAYS PRESENT MORE ISSUES. I CAN'T DRIVE THE CAR RIGHT NOW BECAUSE ITS GETTING WORSE. MY PROBLEM IS THAT I HAVE PRESENTED THIS PROBLEM TO MY DEALER, THEIR MANAGEMENT, TOYOTA GERMANY IN MY LOCAL AREA BUT NO ONE CAN SEEM TO FIGURE OUT THE FUNDING ISSUE FOR THE 60/60 WARRANTY (POWER TRAIN). I TRIED TO GET IT SETTLED BEFORE I HIT THE 60000 MILE MARK BUT I NEEDED THE CAR DAILY FOR WORK. I HAVE SINCE ARRANGED FOR PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION USE AND I HAVE PARKED THE CAR AS OF TODAY FOR GOOD. I WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST ME $6000 TO REPAIR. I HAVE CHASED THIS SINCE I TOOK IT TO TOYOTA RAMSTEIN, GERMANY FOR THE INITIAL LOOK. THEY SAID THEY HAD NO IDEA WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND PERHAPS IT WAS THE TRANS MISSION WHICH WOULD COST AT LEAST 3500 EUROS WHICH IS ABOUT $6000. THE ISSUE ALMOST CAUSED ME AN ACCIDENT IN TRAFFIC TWICE! I FOUND THROUGH THE ARMY AIR FORCE EXCHANGE CAR CARE CENTER. I TOOK THE CAR WHEN I EXPERIENCED MORE ISSUES AND THE TECH BULLETIN IS THE EXACT PROBLEM I AM EXPERIENCING. IT SAYS IN THE BULLETIN THAT IT IS COVERED BY THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY 60 MONTHS OR 60000 MILES. I EVEN PRODUCED THE TECH BULLETIN TO THE DEALER AND THE MECHANICS! I HAVE GONE TO THE DEALER BUT TO NO AVAIL THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO HELP ME. THEY TRIED BUT I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM THEM IN OVER A MONTH. I NEED A CAR!!! *TR

SON HIT IN FACE BY AIRBAG BUT OTHERWISE UNINJURED. LUCKILY, WIFE ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OVER IN CHURCH PARKING LOT. INCIDENT REPORTED TO TOYOTA IN TORRANCE CA AT 9 AM CT ON SAT JULY 27. CAR PURCHASED 5-4-13 AT 31602 MILES. AS OF SEPT. 5 2013 TOYOTA HAS NOT AGREED TO FIX CAR OR REIMBURSE RENTAL CAR EXPENSES TO GET CHILDREN TO DAY CARE. TOYOTA ENGINEER FLOWN IN AUG 6 2013 TO INSPECT VEHICLE. SENT 63 PHOTOS OF CAR AND UNDERCARRIAGE TO TOYOTA AS REQUESTED ON 7-30-13 TO SHOW NO IMPACT CAUSED AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. ASKING TOYOTA TO REPLACE VEHICLE OR FIX VEHICLE PLUS REIMBURSE FOR RENTAL CAR FEES. SIX WEEKS LATER 9-5-13 STILL NO RESPONSE FROM TOYOTA CLAIMS DEPT. RESTRAINT SYSTEM INCLUDING AIRBAGS UNDER WARRANTY UP TO 60000 MILES. ONLY MY SON'S BOOSTER SEAT SAVED HIM FROM DIRECT BODY AIRBAG IMPACT AND SERIOUS INJURY. HAVE PHOTOS TO PROVE IT. *JB
FLAT TIRE IN HOME GARAGE. OE PANTOGRAPH (SCISSOR) JACK WAS USED IN ATTEMPT TO RAISE CAR. EXCESSIVE TORQUE WAS NECESSARY TO BEGIN LIFT, UP TO LIMIT OF FLIMSY JACK HANDLE. AS VEHICLE NEARED TOP OF NECESSARY LIFT, JACK FLIPPED OVER SIDEWAYS AND WAS PROPELLED OUT FROM UNDER CAR WITH SOME FORCE. CAR FELL. NO INJURY OR DAMAGE BECAUSE I OBSERVED ALL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHILE LIFTING. JACK IS FLIMSY, TOO SMALL FOR THE CAR, AND HAS MUCH TOO SMALL A BASE. THIS OCCURRED ON LEVEL CONCRETE FLOOR. FRONT END SUSPENSION HAS POPPING SOUND AND TIRE WIRE ON THE INSIDE OF TEARS IS VERY UNUSUAL., FEELS LIKE THE FRONT END IS FLEXING DOWN AND CAUSES THE FRONT END TO FEEL LIGHT AND UN CONTROLLABLE AND CAUSING THE VEHICLE PULL LEFT. IF GIVE THE LOOK OF THE BOTTOM OF WHEELS ARE BOWED OUTWARD. *TR

I HAD BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE GPS. I TOOK IT TO DASYTON TOYOTA,DAYTON,NJ TWICE TODAY. EACH TIME I WAS TOLD IT WAS WORKING PROPERLY. I HAD THEM SELECT "HOME". AS I LEFT, IT TURNED ON NJ522 & WAS TOLD TO TURN RIGHT (WRONG) LAST WEEK I PUT AN ADDRESS IN FOR WHITE PLAINS,NY (NORMALLY 1.5 HRS.) AFTER 2.5 HOURS,OUR SON HAD TO FIND US TO LEAD US TO THE ADDRESS. OFTEN. IT WILL TAKE US OFF A HWY, THEM PUT US BACK ON THE SAME HIGHWAY.AUTO IS LEASED & UNDER THE NJ LEMON LAW, IF THE CAR DOESN'T MEET UNIFORM CONFORMITY IT MUST BE CONSIDERED A LEMON, AND CAN BE RETURNED TO THE DEALER WITH NO LOSS TO LEASEE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO EITHER DETECT A TROUBLE CODE OR DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,875.
TRIED MULTIPLE TIMES TO GET INTO READY MODE ,CHECKED BRAKE LIGHTS NOT ON WITH BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED.WHEN I USED SHIFT OVERRIDE,VEHICLE LUNGED BACKWARDS STRIKING PERSON,WHILE BRAKE WAS APPLIED. *TR
THERE IS A GRAB HANDLE OVER EACH FRONT SIDE DOOR; THE REAR HINGE OF THE HANDLE POSES A SEVERE DANGER TO THE DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S HEADS. THE HEADLINER IS PADDED, BUT THIS HANDLE EXTENDS ABOUT AN INCH OUT FROM THE HEADLINER AND IS A HARD PLASTIC COVER OVER A STEEL HINGE. A SEVERE SIDE MOTION, AS IN A CRASH, COULD DRIVE THIS HINGE THROUGH THE DRIVER'S OR PASSENGER'S SKULL. A LESSER SIDE MOTION, AS IN A SUDDEN MANEUVER, COULD HIT THE DRIVER'S HEAD HARD ENOUGH TO DISTRACT THE DRIVER AND CAUSE A CRASH. *TR
THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING. NO FEED BACK FROM VOICE .IT DOESN'T DIRECT YOU VERBALLY AND INSTEAD OF MILES IT READS KILOMETERS AND FINALLY IT STOPPED FUNCTIONING AT ALL. *TR

THE VEHICLE WOULD ONLY START WITH A JUMP START AND THEN IT WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER. THIS FAILURE OCCURRED FOUR TIMES OVER A PERIOD OF ONE YEAR. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE CHARGED AND WAS NOT BEING DRIVEN ENOUGH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,400.
I OWN A 2012 4CYL CAMRY XLE. THE CONTACT'S RING FINGER WAS SEVERED AND HE ALSO SUFFERED FROM EXTREME WHIPLASH INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE AIR BAGS HAD FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 7,000. AFTER I DROPPED OFF MY CAR AT THE DEALERSHIP, THEY RAN AN INSPECTION AND FOUND A CODE C1554 POWER SUPPLY RELAY FAILURE AND REPLACED MY POWER STEERING ECU ASSY. I WAS DRIVING AT 20MPH AND NEEDED TO PICK UP SPEED TO MAKE A PASS AND THE CAR JUST KEPT ON REVVING AND THE SPEED DID NOT INCREASE AT ALL AND WHEN IT FINALLY PICKED UP SPEED, IT WAS A HARD JERK. IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING MORE OFTEN. ANOTHER INCIDENT AT A YIELD SIGN HEADING INTO THE HIGHWAY. AS I WAS ENTERING THE HIGHWAY, I HIT BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN AND HAD TO GAS UP TO GET INTO THE LANE AND THE CAR JUST DIDN'T MOVE. I STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL AND THE CAR DIDN'T MOVE. I ALREADY CHANGED THE TORQUE CONVERTER WITHIN THE WARRANTY BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXIST. AS OF RIGHT NOW, THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. *TR
THE TOYOTA CAMRY HAS BEEN REAR ENDED BY A FORD EXPLORER 2002 BETWEEN 40-50MPH, DAMAGING THE TRUNK, BUMPER TAIL LIGHTS, RIGHT REAR SIDE, LEFT SIDE BODY AND SPARE TIRE COMPARTMENT. AT THE MOMENT OF THE ACCIDENT, WERE THE DRIVER AND THREE MORE ADULT PASSENGERS INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE ON THEIR RESPECTIVE SEATS WEARING PROPERLY THE SEAT BELTS AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT, THE DRIVER FROM THE FORD EXPLORER WAS DISTRACTED LOOKING FOR A RADIO REMOTE CONTROL WITHOUT NOTICE THE TRAFFIC ALMOST STOP WHEN THE DRIVER OF THE FORD EXPLORER BACK HIS ATTENTION TO THE TRAFFIC WAS TOO LATE EVEN AS HE MANIFEST HE HAS NO TIME TO PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL. AFTER WE INSPECT THE DAMAGES I NOTICE THE AIRBAG AND SEAT BELT LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD ARE ON EVEN WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION BUT NO AIR BAG HAS BEEN DEPLOY THERE IS A PICTURES AND VIDEO AVAILABLE FOR ANY FUTURE INVESTIGATION UPON REQUEST. *TR
BOUGHT A NEW 2012 CAMRY. FIRST TIME ON HIGHWAY NOTICED EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF PLAY IN THE STEERING DRIVING 50MPH. I WAS VERY SURPRISED ON HOW DIFFICULT IT IS TO KEEP THE CAR DRIVING STRAIGHT AT HIGH SPEEDS. STEERING WHEEL IS VERY LOOSE AND ERRATIC. DRIVING NEXT TO A BIG RIG TRUCK I HAD TO FOCUS ALL MY EFFORT (MOVING MY STEERING WHEEL LEFT AND RIGHT) TO KEEP CAR CENTERED. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND THE STEERING FEELS UNSTABLE AT HIGH SPEEDS. I HOPE TOYOTA CAN UTILIZE A FIX FOR THIS ASAP. I WILL BE FOLLOWING UP WITH MY LOCAL DEALER ON MY CONCERNS. *TR
THE BACK WINDSHIELD SHATTERED INTO SMALL PIECES WHILE IT WAS PARKED IN OUR APARTMENT LOT. I JUST OPENED AND CLOSED THE DOOR IN THE MORNING IT IS SHATTERED INTO SMALL PIECES. I WENT TO THE DEALER, EVEN THOUGH IT IS MANUFACTURING OR TOYOTA'S SUPPLIER ISSUE IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS ISSUE IF A KID IS IN THE CAR,WHOSE CAR SEAT IS FACING THE REAR WIND SHIELD. *TR
