TOYOTA needs to amend their vehicle specs. The actual mileage on the car after my 4.5 years of ownership was TOTALLY different than what was claimed. Upon purchase I was able to achieve 44 mpg, and when fueling completely the remaining distance on the display read about 400 miles. Now I can only achieve 22 mpg and when fueling vehicle completely it now reads 320 miles remaining. This is a LIE and must be admitted by Toyota that it is a grim underestimate. Driver habit has nothing to do with this, I am a very careful (almost slow) driver and the fact that mileage varies this much after a few years of ownership makes no sense. I am dreading the day that this will eventually read 15 mpg on the display. At that point I am definitely selling this car and looking to another brand like Lexus. It is truly ironic how my dad owns a 2015 Tundra that still works like a pro and is able to achieve around 15 mpg consistently even after 7 years of ownership, and my mom's 2019 Sienna is now starting to struggle reaching 17 mpg after just a few years of driving. TOYOTA needs to seriously start concentrating more on vehicle/mechanism reliability instead of trying to install a million safety features (which I find for the most part unnecessary) like every other car manufacturer. What happened to the reliability that was there nearly 10 years ago? It's a shame because I am really trying to love my car and do whatever I can do make sure that it is running smoothly always but my efforts seem to be in vain all the time. My car has other issues as well besides this and at this point it's hard to believe that it will still be functioning great for another 10 years.
Brakes being difficult to press down randomly causing excess friction on my roters causing shaking/instability/ almost lost control.
I bought a 2018 Toyota Camry from auction but when I went for vin number verification by California Highway Patrol, CHP it was discovered that the original tinted windshield does not have space for public view of vin number, which is Toyota original windshield with Toyota logo and stamp. This is factory defect, which I have tried to contact Toyota USA, but it seems Toyota is not responding positively to have the windshield replaced since it does not meet U.S standard. I have case number opened with Toyota case [XXX]. As a result of this I have not been able to register my vehicle. California Highway Patrol, CHP has asked me to go back to Toyota to get this fixed before my vehicle vin could be verified. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).”

The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the braking system warning light would intermittently flash on the instrument panel upon depression of the brake pedal. The contact then received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V890000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was not available. The dealer had been notified about the warning light and gave the contact a loaner vehicle while his vehicle remained in the possession of the dealer. As parts remained unavailable, the contact then called the manufacturer who informed him that the NHTSA was responsible for releasing the parts for repair and to notify the NHTSA about the parts delay. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 37,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available. The consumer stated the problem was resolved on 06/15/22.
The brakes just stopped working. Got a message on the screen about "Low Braking Power. Stop in a safe place". The engine stopped working and the pedal (brake) was very hard. Thank God I was able to stop and not crash. I checked all car stored codes\errors - no codes and the car running normally now. I know that the 2018 Camry had recall about the brake vacuum pump but somehow my car wasn't in a recall list. Thank you
The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V890000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The local dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact indicated that while depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle would not immediately slow down or stop. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were made aware of the failure. No assistance was offered. VIN tool confirms parts not available. The failure mileage was 29,000.
I was rear ended when I was braking hard to avoid hitting a dog in the street (where I live you can be sued for running over/injuring a dog). My car speed was about 10 mph give or take, and I was rear ended by a distracted driver (who admitted to using antidepressants on a daily basis) who I believe was going at least 45 mph. My car was pushed forward at least 6 ft and no airbags were deployed. I thought I died because I saw a flash of bright light enveloping my entire vision while my chest and forehead were whipped forward harshly and almost touched my steering wheel. My whiplash injuries are moderately severe and have actually put a few discs along my entire spine and cervical area off-center, continuing to cause extreme back/neck pain and discomfort. I have sharp intermittent pain in my head as well. Had the airbags went off from the steering wheel I strongly believe I would not be in this much pain, having to take time off work to seek treatment a few times a week. I am confused as to why the airbags did not deploy when my car was crashed into behind at such a high speed when viewing footage. Had this happened on the freeway I have no doubt I would be dead from a broken neck or in the hospital as a 'living vegetable' from a cracked spine. Toyota should be making airbag deployment in all types of accidents a priority. Individuals are just as prone to sustaining life threatening injuries when rear ended as during a frontal collision.
Around 47k miles the steering shaft failed and the vehicle became extremely difficult to steer. The wheel would also not return to center on its own after turning and had to be forced back in order to drive the vehicle straight again. It was almost as if the power steering went out altogether. The dealer was aware of the issue and said that some of the steering column bind and need to be replaced. Causal research such as doing a Google search for "Toyota steering shaft binding" shows that this has been an issue for several years. The fact that the dealer knew about it shows that Toyota is simply ignoring the issue.
My car started to have issues while driving, especially when I slow down. It wants to die while I’m driving or waiting for traffic so I can turn or entering roundabouts. I recently waited for traffic and found myself turning in front of a semi. I had plenty of time, but through my turn realized that if my car had died that semi would have hit me at 45 mph. There are 2 lights on, check engine and master warning light. I have tried to have the issue fixed twice already and it was better for about 20 miles and then I have the same issue. These issues seem identical to the ones as described in the recalls for the same year make and model of my vehicle, but my specific vin is not part of the recall. I am concerned it is also part of the same issue. (It seems to have the same symptoms as the recall for the fuel pump issue or the incorrect sized pistons)
The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle veered into another lane, but the lane departure system did not alert him. The lane departure warning light was illuminated. The dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that he would need to pay for the diagnostic test and repair. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 13,400.
My Issue was LOW BREAKING POWER in other words i couldn't stop on some of these 2018 camry le there was an recall for the brake vacuum pump something about not being machined right some kind of oil leak my car was not part of it but my pump went out for that reason while i was driving back from tahoe DAM LUCKY IT DIDN"T HAPPEN COMING DOWN THE HILL now i have to cash out about 1000 did my car slip threw the crack what can i do can i get my money back THIS COULD HAVE ENDED MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I was complete left or right turning steering wheel at low rpm, it feels like hard of stiff and loosen and stiff again and loosen. So I was gone to toyota dealership, but they couldnt find anything.
The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal became stuck and was difficult to depress. The contact was able to pull over and had the vehicle towed to the dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle as vacuum brake pump failure and needed a vacuum brake pump replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact to tow the vehicle to the nearest dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 57,000.
I was driving back home about 70 miles an hour and all the sudden i got a message on my dashboard saying that i have a low braking power and yes there was not power at all. The car did not brake at all there will be a lot of tragedies because that is very dangerous, i got very lucky i had the time to look for the emergency break pedal but very scary. I research if anybody had a problem like that and there is about 60 people that had gone trough the same problem and contacted toyota and see if they is a recall on this problem and they said no. Every car that i saw on the complaint list is at over 100 k, so once you hit the 100 k be very careful and by the way is a toyota camry 2018
When opening the trunk the trunk lid opens very fast and makes contact with the rear window. This has a very high potential to break the rear glass making it unable to see out off.
Ever since getting my Fuel Pump kit installed my car jerks when it goes in and out of over drive when increasing speed.
The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated while driving 65 mph, the brake pedal was difficult to depress. The contact stated that the brake warning light was illuminated. The contact stated he continued to depress the brake pedal and upon reaching a hill, he used the parking brake to slow and park the vehicle on the side of the road. The contact stated he called a towing company but after four hours of waiting, his wife drove to the location and assisted by driving bumper to bumper to the local dealer at slow speeds. The local dealer diagnosed the vehicle and informed the contact that the brake vacuum pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending repairs. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V211000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 255,000. The Vin was invalid.
1st Occurance: Approaching stop sign getting off freeway and brake pedal was hard to depress and brakes slow to work, pulled emergency brake to stop vehicle just in time. No warning lights, no squeaking brakes or grinding noises. We had a long drive approximately 4-5 hours freeway with 1 hour stop before reaching our destination where this occurred. 2nd occurance: Next day in city traffic driving 35-40mph. Noticed brakes getting less effective with each use eventually having to use emergency brake as main brake. Still no lights or noises from vehicle. Pulled over and called Carmax where I financed and had MaxCare to make an appt for brakes to be fixed and diagnosed. Appt was made for a week or so out and in the meantime, driving home to park the vehicle… 3rd and last occurrence:(same day) while approaching a traffic light, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to stop the vehicle. No brake warning light. No dashboard warning lights on at all. The brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard to stop the vehicle and vehicle did not stop. Pumped the brake pedal a few times and still nothing. Vehicle ended up getting deemed totaled by insurance. Also note: the airbags did not deploy. The accident was a head-on collision with a rock wall going 40-45mph. Seatbelts fastened. Passenger was dazed from hitting head during accident and bleeding. Right leg received a 7 in cut which is now a knurly 3-4 inch scar. I was left carless and basically homeless with no where to stay in an unknown city for weeks until I was able to purchase a bus ticket home. Due to being stuck 6 hours away from home and carless I lost my job. My life has been completely turned upside down and my mental health is continuing to decline. I am unable to take kids to school or sports as well as the park for simple family quality time.
Hello! When i am pushing the brake pedal it is very hard, like engine is of! I took my car to local diller and they was diagnosed that i have to replace brake vacuum pump, but i have to pay for that service $1350... but i know that Toyota hade recall exactly for this part of brake sistem. I chaked my car for this recall but there is no recall for my car, only fuel pump is... but fact is that my car have same problem, why it is not qualifay fo recall i don’t understand. Can you help me figure it out why i have to pay , when thousands of other car was repaired for free by dillers? Thank you
The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while her son was driving at low speeds the brake pedal was hard to depress and slow to respond. The warning light illuminated was unknown. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where diagnosed the brake booster vacuum pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was unknown. The contact stated that the failure was similar to NHTSA campaign number: 18V211000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC).
In dealer 2 different dealers for 2 computer failures 2x. So called repaired. Car hits the brakes by itself there is no way to turn off the radar on the front of the car. You have to remember to turn it off everytime you drive it. Then the gas pedal and brakes failed. The tow truck guy said just disconnect the battery for 15 minutes to re-set the Ecu. Well he did and I had to retrain the car how to shift over several days. Good thing the failure occured at 30mph. I am selling this. I have owned Camry's since the 90's and im afraid to drive this and bought another car. Contact the next owner. Selling it as is.........
I was driving 75 mph on I-10 East going into Houston when I received a low braking power warning. My brakes were useless and I had to use the slow down gradually and slowly used the emergency brake. There is a safety recall on the vaccum pump for this year and model but my car did not qualify for this.
I bought my Camry with 5 miles on it. It’s a 2.5L 8 speed Camry SE. immediately I felt something not right when it would shift between 3/4 gear. It would rock back and forth in a jerking motion. The car has trouble shifting in automatic. When putting it into sport mode it automatically starts at 4th geer. It’s as if the gear shifters are not able to communicate with the engine. It’s stall on me when making a turn and I was almost t-boned June of 2018! Finally a recall on the fuel pump. I go take it in immediately to have the recall fix. Upon doing so the mechanic informed me that my vacuum pump seems to be bigger than the one that standard for my car. He said there’s no recall for my vin number but for other cars during that same year there is. So there was nothing I could do but wait for my vin number to be on the recall list. Then In June 2021 I was backing out of a parking spot and there was a truck in my rear cross traffic that was approaching, my Camry sensed the vehicle with it sonar sensor the alert went off and my braking assistance worked accordingly but the system failed to get the Communication clearly to the engine which in return did not slow down the acceleration of the throttle. So I backed into a truck and my son and myself were in the vehicle. No airbags were dispensed. No injuries but damages to my trunk lid, tail light, brake light and number were damaged. My car now has airbag malfunction and the steering assistance is working correctly.
Transmission has a shock when shifting. It also revs high in order to shift, when it does it has to much power. Vehicle can decide when to shift it just jerks
I was going home from Houston to Richmond Texas but a few minutes into driving some warning lights came on and a warning message says Secondary Brake System malfunction. Then all of a sudden the steering wheel was almost locked and was very hard to maneuver. But due to safety of where I was driving I tried hard to reach a Toyota service center nearby which was about to close so I decided to drive to another one nearby my home. A week or so later they said the car was inspected and repaired but on my way home after picking up the car I had to return it again and since then which has been approximately a month now the car is still in service waiting for parts. The safety of others and mine was at risk as the steering wheel was very tough to maneuver. The problem was confirmed by the dealer. The vehicle component was inspected by Toyota service worker and they said they also had it checked by the manufacturer personnel. There were no prior warning or symptoms prior to this incident which happened on May 24, 2021.
I was driving in downtown and a sudden loss of braking power. My speed was 20 mile/ hr and I push down brake strongly to stop the car. I was at the highest risk even stopped the car. The Toyota dealer said that I must replace booster vacuum pump while Toyota has recall to replace this part for certain camry 2018 but my car is not included.I had a warning lump at the same time of losing the brake power.
MANY TIMES THE BLIND SPOT MONITOR DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY. WHEN THERE IS NO VEHICLE NEARBY AND DRIVING ALONE ON THE ROAD, STILL THE BLIND SPOT MONITOR LIGHT UP AND NOTIFY OF VEHICLE AT MY BLIND SPOT AND SOMETIME WHEN THERE IS A VEHICLE AT MY BLIND SPOT OVERTAKING THE IT SHOWS WHEN THE VEHICLE HAS ALREADY PASSED. WHILE DRIVING ON CRUISE CONTROL SUDDENLY IT SAYS CRUISE CONTROL NOT AVAILABLE. THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN ALWAYS BUT SOMETIME. BOTH OF THE ABOVE HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY.
Grinding sound appears when backing up such as when backing out of garage. Does not seem to be present when shifted out of reverse.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HER HUSBAND WAS DRIVING 10 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE AS NEEDED. THE PARKING BRAKE WAS ACTIVATED WHILE USING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW THE VEHICLE TO A STOP. HER HUSBAND WAITED FOR A WHILE BEFORE CONTINUING TO DRIVE TO THE RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THERE WAS NO AIR ENTERING THE VACUUM PUMP. THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND ORDER THE VACUUM PUMP AND REPLACED IT HIMSELF. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CAMSHAFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
VEHICLE JERKS WHEN IN MOTION OR BEFORE BRAKING. THIS IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. IT DOESN'T SEEM TO PROPERLY SWITCH SPEEDS WHICH ALSO CAUSE IT TO JERK FORWARD. AGAIN, POSSIBLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. IT CONSTANTLY SLOWS DOWN BECAUSE IT "DETECTS ITEM" WHEN THERE'S ABSOLUTELY NOTHING IN THE ROAD. IT WILL SLOW DOWN AT ANY TIME ON THE HIGHWAY. I'VE RECEIVED 2 MASTER WARNINGS ALERTS THAT THE DEALERSHIP SAID, WEREN'T REGISTERED IN THE VEHICLES DATA BASE. THE MASTER ALERT IS LOUD AND FILLS UP MY DASHBOARD SO, IT HAPPENED. IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME.
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 50 MPG ON THE HIGHWAY, THE "LOW BRAKING POWER" LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER SEEING THIS, I ATTEMPTED TO SLOW DOWN BUT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS HARD TO PUSH DOWN AND I HAD TO PUSH IT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR IN ORDER FOR MY CAR TO SLOW DOWN/STOP. HAD MY CAR CHECKED BY A MECHANIC AND THEY SAID THAT THE BRAKE VACUUM PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. BASED ON MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE WITH THE BRAKES, TOYOTA NEEDS TO DO A RECALL.
During the summer months when temperatures were extreme, my car suddenly had that infamous orange triangle light up and a warning about the tire pressure. I had to avoid taking the freeway home and instead had to take a 30-minute long trek home along the streets. When I went to inspect my tires I saw several large bulges along the sides of multiple tires, especially the front two tires. I immediately took them to the nearest reputable tire shop and they told me that most likely a nail may have caused the issue, but they did not find a single nail nor any holes in the tire that may have been leaking out air. Repair process was difficult as the first tire shop I went to did not carry the tires my car comes with (apparently they are very hard to come across where I live) but offered to replace all tires with used ones for $70 and strongly recommended I get new ones as soon as possible. The second shop told me that I was lucky to spot the issue quickly and seek repair or else the car tires would have exploded while in motion. Whatever manufacturer stock tires Toyota is using should not even be approved at all. Why not use strong, sturdy tires from a reputable brand instead of settling for cheap ones? Since replacing the tires I have had no issues whatsoever.
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK THE VEHICLE, THE DRIVER DEPRESSED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO CRASH AND HIT THREE OTHER VEHICLES. NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. NO ONE WAS INJURED. NO POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INSPECTED THE VEHICLE BUT COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE. 14,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V682000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) HOWEVER, THE PART FOR THE RECALL REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. HARTFORD TOYOTA SUPERSTORE (135 W. SERVICE RD, HARTFORD, CT 06120) AND LYNCH TOYOTA (179 TOLLAND TURNPIKE, MANCHESTER, CT 06042) WERE CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT PARTS WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALERS THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE UNLESS THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT BECAME ILLUMINATED. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND LYNCH TOYOTA WAS CONTACTED AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT REAPPEARED LESS THAN 12 HOURS AFTER THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND A COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
Fuel\propulsion system, There was no power given to the engine when I turned a corner with an exorbitant amount of time. There was a car at least 100 yards away. When I put my foot on the gas pedal there was no power. It felt like the car did not switch gears for the fuel pump or Pistons just were not working correctly. The car almost rear-ended me and caused a major accident. This has happened multiple times.
The windshield seems to be unsticking from the car and dust seems to be getting inside.
The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel would make an abnormal squeaking noise without warning. Over time, the steering wheel had stiffened which caused the contact to use excessive force to steer the vehicle. The contact had initially taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic where he was informed that the steering shaft needed to be replaced. The contact then took the vehicle to a dealer where they repaired the steering shaft under his extended warranty. The manufacturer was notified of the matter and offered no assistance. The vehicle had been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
MY CAR HAD A RECALL. WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR I TOLD THE DEALER THAT MY CAR JERKED. THEY STATED IT WAS OKAY. MY CAR WAS IN SERVICE SEVERAL TIMES AND EACH TIME THEY ACTED LIKE THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG.
SUNDAY NIGHT MARCH 21/2021 8:37PM I WAS DRIVING IN STATEN ISLAND WITH A PASSENGER, WAY TO DROPP HIM OFF, OVER 40MPH, AND SUDDEN MY CAR HAD A BRAKES FAILURE, ON MY DASHBOARD APPEARS A CODE 'LOW BRAKING POWER', WE WERE IN PANIC, AND I WAS APPROACHING TO A LINE OF CAR IN AN STOP LIGHT IN RED, I WAS PUSHING MY BRAKES SEVERAL TIMES BUT NEVER RESPONSE, I HAD TO MANEUVER MY CAR TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER AND THERE WAS PEOPLE CROSSING AND FINALLY I GOT PUSH MY EMERGENCY BRAKE.(I HAVE HE VIDEO IN FULL HD AS EVIDENCE)
UPON TURNING ON THE CAR THE CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT WILL NOT TURN IN. THIS HAS CAUSED THE UNIT TO COMPLETELY NOT WORK AS I CANNOT ADJUST ANYTHING OR TURN IT ON. THERE ARE NO LIGHTS, NO AIR, NO RESPONSE. TURNING THE CAR OFF AND ON AGAIN DOES NOT REMEDY THE SITUATION. I HAVE HAD THE UNIT REPLACED ONCE ALREADY AND BARELY FOUR MONTHS LATER THE ISSUE BEGAN AGAIN.
The defroster failed to keep the wind shield clear. Their is no airflow to the defrost which cause no visibility on the windshield.
I WAS ABLE TO FIX THE ISSUE OF THE VEHICLE NOT RESPONDING WELL TO BURSTS OF SPEED, SIMPLY TURN OFF ECO MODE, AND REFILL VEHICLE WITH BETTER GAS (DO NOT USE THE CHEAPEST TIER OF GAS AVAILABLE AT THE GAS STATION, GO THE NEXT TIER UP FROM THAT). I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR 3 YEARS NOW WITH UNDER 13,800 MI AT TIME OF WRITING. THERE ARE STEERING ISSUES WHEN TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEEDS. I SHARE THIS VEHICLE WITH OTHER INDIVIDUALS AND ALL OF THEM COMPLAIN OF THE VEHICLE SHAKING SEVERELY WHEN TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEEDS. STEERING WHEEL FREQUENTLY SEEMS TO "LOCK" IN PLACE WHEN DRIVING CURVES. THE RECALL THAT IS CURRENTLY IN PLACE, 20V682, HAS BEEN EFFECTIVE SINCE LATE OCTOBER 2020 AND AS OF NOW THERE IS NO REMEDY AVAILABLE. I SPOKE TO A TOYOTA REP EARLY FEBRUARY AND THEY WERE ANTICIPATING A REMEDY TO BE AVAILABLE BY THE END OF THE MONTH BUT THERE IS NO REMEDY AVAILABLE. TRIED CALLING AGAIN AND THIS TIME THEY WERE UNABLE TO GIVE ME AN EXACT DATE FOR THE REMEDY TO BE READY. MEANWHILE I AM READING MORE AND MORE COMPLAINTS OF OTHER DRIVERS WITH THE SAME VEHICLE STALLING WHILE IN MOTION, ENDANGERING NOT JUST THEIR OWN LIVES BUT THE LIVES OF OTHER DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS AS WELL. THE LAST THING I WANT IS FOR ME OR MY OWN FAMILY MEMBERS TO BE IN A SEVERE ACCIDENT AND POSSIBLY LOSE OUR LIVES. IT IS IRRESPONSIBLE FOR TOYOTA TO KEEP US ALL WAITING FOR SUCH A LONG TIME FOR A REMEDY. THERE SEEM TO BE MORE AND MORE RECALLS AFFECTING ALL TOYOTA BRANDED VEHICLES DUE TO POOR QC. IF THEY COULD ONLY TAKE THE TIME TO PROPERLY TEST ALL PRODUCTS BEFORE RELEASE THEM TO THE PUBLIC, WE WOULD NOT HAVE TO DRIVE IN OUR VEHICLES FEELING ON EDGE AND UNCOMFORTABLE ALL THE TIME. IF THESE RECALLS KEEP COMING I AM SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING SELLING THE VEHICLE ONCE MY PAYMENTS ARE DONE IN 3 YEARS, AND CONSIDER LOOKING ELSEWHERE FOR BRANDS WHO VALUE SAFETY INSTEAD OF ADDING MORE TECH GADGETS TO HIKE UP PRICES.
WIFE AND KID DRIVING ON 35 MILE ZONE 5:00 PM TRAFFIC HALF MILE BEFORE TRAFFIC LIGHT WITH TWO LEFT LANE TURN THE D N LIGHT ON TRANSMISSION AND THE DASH D N R START FLASHING STOP AT THE LIGHT LEFT URN CAR THE START GOING BACK WORD ALTHOUGH THE CAR IS DRIVE MODE THE PADEL MOVING WITHOUT TOUCHING IT. MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER WERE TERRIFIED IT COULD HAVE HAPPEN IN FREE WAY OR WHEN THEY WERE GOING 40 PHR COULD HAVE KILLED THEM OR CAUSED MAJOR INJURY TO THEM AND OTHERS. THEY EXPERIENCE CAUSED THEM SEVER PANIC AND STRESS THEY DON'T WANT TO TOUCH THIS CAR NEITHER DO I . CALL TOYOTA CORP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE APPROACHING A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. UPON INSPECTION, THE BRAKE FLUID WAS VERY LOW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND VACUUM PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. SEVERAL UNKNOWN DEALERS WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V211000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000.
