I WAS STOPPED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AT ABOUT 8AM ON SEPT 11, 2014. THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME MOVED FORWARD SO I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE TO LET MY CAR COAST FORWARD. I BRAKED TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND INSTEAD OF BRAKING, THE CAR ACCELERATED. INSTANTLY THINKING I TOUCHED THE WRONG PEDAL OR THAT THE PEDAL WAS STUCK, I LOOKED DOWN (SCRUNCHING TOWARD MY RIGHT SHOULDER) TO ENSURE I WAS PRESSING FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. I BRAKED AGAIN AND THE CAR SHOT FORWARD AGAIN HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I INJURED MY RIGHT SHOULDER TRYING TO PREVENT THE CRASH, SUFFERED WHIPLASH FROM THE INCIDENT AND AM STILL HURTING TODAY. I AM STILL WAITING FOR THE MANUFACTURER TO RESPOND TO MY COMPLAINT AND REVIEW THE BLACK BOX FOR MY VEHICLE, WHICH IS CURRENTLY HOUSED BY MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND MAY BE TOTALED AS A RESULT OF THIS ACCIDENT. *TR
THE DATE AND MILEAGE I LIST ARE APPROXIMATE. AT FIRST WE THOUGHT THIS WAS AN ISSUE RELATED TO BRAKES NOT RELEASING, NOW WE SEE IT IS RELATED TO A GAS PEDAL/THROTTLE ISSUE. WHAT HAPPENS IS WHEN TAKING OFF THE CAR WOULD FALL FLAT, LIKE BRAKES STICKING. NOW THE PROBLEM IS WORSENING, AND IT IS APPARENT THAT THE ENGINE IS NOT RESPONDING, THAT IS, NO RPM'S BUILDING. IT IS NOT THE BEHAVIOR OF AN ENGINE HESITATING. IT IS RUNNING FINE, JUST UNRESPONSIVE. NOW A FEW DAYS AGO MONDAY MAY 27, 2015 I HAD AN ISSUE AND THE CAR WOULD NOT CLIMB OVER 15 MPH FOR ABOUT 1/2 MILE. NO MISSFIRE, NO SIGNS OF ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING. I HAD THE GAS PEDAL DOWN ABOUT 1/2 WAY FOR THE CAR TO EVEN MOVE. THE CAR WAS RECENTLY AT MIDAS. THEY SEEN NO PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. *TR
ON THE MORNING OF AUGUST 27, 2014, MY DAUGHTER WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, WITH HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE. THE 2006 TOYOTA COROLLA SUDDENLY ACCELERATED, JUMPED THE CURB, AND CRASHED INTO A STONE SUPPORT COLUMN IN FRONT OF A DOCTOR'S OFFICE. IF THE STONE SUPPORT COLUMN HAD NOT BEEN THERE TO STOP THE CAR, THE CAR WOULD HAVE CRASHED THROUGH THE FRONT OF THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN SEVERE INJURY OR EVEN DEATH TO THE OCCUPANTS INSIDE. THE COROLLA SUSTAINED SIGNIFICANT FRONT END AND FRONT SIDE DAMAGE TOTALING $5761.89. ALSO, BOTH THE DRIVER SIDE AND FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2006 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED BY AN ONCOMING VEHICLE. THE IMPACT CAUSED A CHAIN REACTION CRASH AND THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE BECAME LODGED UNDERNEATH THE REAR OF THE PRECEDING VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED NECK AND LOWER BACK INJURIES, AND A PINCHED NERVE IN THE LOWER BACK WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 186,000. MA 10/19/2015 UPDATED 11/30/2017*CN
MY SON WAS DRIVING WHEN HE HYDROPLANED FLIPPED THE CAR ON THE FRONT END AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY HE HAD A BIG KNOT ON HIS HEAD AND 3 CRACKED RIBS. THE CAR WAS TOTALED.
TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP REGARDING AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL, AND ENGINE FEELING HOT. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON....I DID NOT HAVE MONEY FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC NOR THE MAINTENANCE THEY SUGGESTED.. AROUND $1500. I ASSUMED THEY CHECKED THE AIRBAGS, BUT THOUGHT IT ODD THAT THEY DID NOT GIVE ME ANY PAPERWORK. THEY SAID EVERYTHING WAS FINE.

OUR TOYOTA COROLLA 2006 HAD A SRS AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT COME ON. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WE WERE INFORMED THAT THE DRIVER?S AIRBAG MODULE IS ATTACHED TO A SPIRAL CABLE ASSEMBLY WITH ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS THAT HAVE BECOME DAMAGED FROM TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. THE DAMAGE TO THE SPINAL WIRE CAUSED THE AIR BAG WARNING LAMP TO ILLUMINATE WHICH MEANS THAT THE AIR BAGS MAY NOT DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT. THE SPINAL CORD NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AS WELL AS THE ENTIRE AIRBAG SYSTEM. THERE IS A SIMILAR ISSUE ON OTHER COROLLAS I BELIEVE THEY ARE YEARS 2009 AND 2010 AND SO I THINK THIS NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO SINCE IT IS HAPPENING ON OUR VEHICLE AND PROBABLY OTHERS. *TR
OUR TOYOTA COROLLA 2006 HAD A SRS AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT COME ON. I OBSERVED A REAR TIRE WITH A LARGE BULGE IN THE SIDEWALL OF THE TIRE UPON GETTING OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE TIRE IS ABOUT 1 YEAR OLD COOPER TIRE. CS4 TOURING TIRE. 195/65R-15. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE SWITCHED LANES AND SIDE CRASHED THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE CONTACT'S HEAD STRUCK THE DASHBOARD. THE CONTACT WAS NOT TREATED FOR HIS INJURY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
ENGINE STALLED DURING DRIVING, THE CAR ALL SUDDENLY LOST POWER. NO INDICATION OF USUAL BEFORE. REIGNITE THE CAR, RUN LOOKS LIKE NORMAL AGAIN. HAS NO PROBLEM FOR 10 DAYS SO FAR. NOT QUITE SURE HOW CAUSED IT? *TR
WHEN I ROLL DOWN MY WINDOW ON THE DRIVERS SIDE, THERE IS ALWAYS A LOUD *CHUNK* SOUND WHERE A SCREW THAT IS TOO LONG IN THE DOOR IS SCRAPING UP AGAINST THE WINDOW AS IT ROLLS DOWN, EVERY TIME. IF YOU ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW WHILE THE DOOR IS IN THE OPEN POSITION, YOU CAN NOT CLOSE YOUR DOOR BECAUSE THE GLASS IS CATCHING ON THE SCREW AND PUTTING HUGE GASHES IN THE WINDOW. I AM AFRAID IT WILL ONE DAY DECIDE TO SHATTER ALL OVER ME OR MY MOTHER WHO SOMETIMES BORROWS MY CAR. *TR
PAINT ON MY VEHICLE IS CHIPPING AND CLEAR COAT COMING OFF. I'VE SEEN MANY COROLLA'S THE SAME MODEL WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.
MY DAUGHTER WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT, SHE WAS T-BONED IN THE DRIVERS DOOR BY A MERCEDES BENZ SUV GOING 40MPH AND THE DRIVERS SIDE IMPACT AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE POLICEWOMAN, EMT, AND TOW TRUCK DRIVER ALL COULD NOT BELIEVE THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. BY THE GRACE OF GOD MY DAUGHTER IS GOING TO BE FINE AFTER SOME RECOVERY TIME. HOWEVER I FEEL HAD THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED HER INJURIES WOULD HAVE BEEN LESSENED CONSIDERABLY. WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR I PURPOSELY LOOKED FOR ONE WITH THE ADDITIONAL SIDE IMPACT AIR BAGS. I AM VERY DISTURBED THAT THIS SAFETY FEATURE I HAD HOPED WOULD PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SAFETY FOR MY CHILD FAILED SO MISERABLY. *TR

THE AIR BAG LIGHTS COME ON AND OFF FOR FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AND THE BEEPING WON'T STOP UNLESS I PULL THE SEATBELT OUT AND LATCH IT IN PLACE AND THEN THE PASSENGER AIR BAG SAYS "AIRBAG OFF"???? PLEASE ADVISE. THANK YOU. EVEN IF SOMEONE IS SITTING AND BELTED IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, THE AIRBAG INDICATOR SAYS OFF. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY TOYOTA HAD JUST LEFT MY HOUSE AND I TURNED THE CORNER AND JUST AFTER I TURNED THE CORNER THE CAR SHUT OFF COMPLETELY. I STEERED TO MOVE FROM MIDDLE OF ROAD SO IT RESTARTED AND I DROVE ABOUT 20 FT TURNED A CORNER TO PARK THE CAR AND IT SHUT OFF AGAIN. I THEN NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. A MINUTE OR TWO LATER I'M ON THE PHONE W FIRE DEPARTMENT CAUSE MY CAR WAS IN FLAMES. AFTER FIRE WAS PUT OUT BY FIRE DEPT THE FIREFIGHTER SAID THE CAR IS A TOTAL LOSS AND I ONLY HAD LIABILITY. THEY TOWED TO A SALVAGE YARD AND I WAS TOLD BY FIREFIGHTER CAUSE OF FIRE IS UNKNOWN, POSSIBLY SOMETHING ELECTRICAL MAY HAVE SHORTED HE WAS NOT SURE. TWO DAYS LATER, I SEE A SAFETY RECALL FOR MY CAR ON THE NEWS WAS ANNOUNCED FOR POSSIBLE FIRE IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT. *TR

I WAS BACKING UP OUT OF A PARKING SPACE, STOPPED AND PUT CAR IN DRIVE POSITION, AND 2006 TOYOTA COROLLA ACCELERATED TO A HIGH SPEED, ENGINE ROARED. I PUT MY FOOT ON BRAKE IMMEDIATELY, SHUT OFF ENGINE AND PULLED EMERGENCY BRAKE. LIGHTS ON DASHBOARD WERE LIT, AND I HAD NO POWER STEERING. CAR BOLTED FORWARD AND HIT THE BACK OF A PARKED TRUCK WHICH STOPPED MY VEHICLE. MY DAUGHTER WAS IN THE PASSENGER SIDE AND EXPERIENCED THIS HORRIBLE EVENT. I WAS BRINGING HER HOME FROM AN OPERATION ON HER ARM. NEEDLESS TO SAY, WE WERE BOTH TERRIFIED. HAD CAR TOWED TO THE TOYOTA GARAGE. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID HE COULDN'T TOUCH THE CAR DUE TO PROTOCOL, AND GAVE ME THE 800 # FOR TOYOTA. THAT WAS ON A MONDAY AND ON FRIDAY I HAD TO GET MY OWN RENTAL CAR AS I HAD NOT HEARD FROM TOYOTA IN REGARD TO A RENTAL CAR. *TR
TAKATA RECALL I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS FOR THE WORK TO BE DONE TO MY TOYOTA. CLAREMONT TOYOTA TELL ME THAT THEY DONOT HAVE PARTS. I HAVE TALKED TO THEM ON THE PHONE AND IN PERSON NUMEROUS TIMES.
I WAS DRIVING IN A DRIVING RAINSTORM ON THE BALTIMORE BELTWAY BETWEEN TWO CARS AT 6 AM WHEN MY DRIVERS SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM CAME OFF. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON RANDOMLY 5 TIMES OVER THE PAST 2 MONTHS. FILED COMPLAINT WITH TOYOTA. ECM SEEMS TO BE ACTING UP, THEY THINK IT'S AN ISSUE WITH A MANIFOLD GASKET. TAKING VEHICLE TO DEALER THIS WEEK TO HAVE THEM DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE. *TR
CAR WAS REAR ENDED AT STOP LIGHT, AIR BAG LIGHTS CAME ON, BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, LIGHTS STAY ON. THE 2005 MODEL HAD AN AIR BAG RECALL, THE 2006 DID NOT, WE BELIEVE TOYOTA SHOULD CHECK THIS OUT UNDER THIS RECALL AT THEIR EXPENSE.
AT SPEEDS ABOUT 45 MPH , CARS JERKS AND SHAKES AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON . THE DEALER REPLACE ECM FOR RECALL AND 2 DAYS LATER , THE CAR STILL DOES THE SAME THING. I HEAR ALOT OF HORROR STORIES ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND TOYOTA SHOULD FIX IT FOR FREE . I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE FAR FROM MY HOUSE BUT I CANNOT AFFORD TO BUY A NEW CAR RIGHT NOW . TOYOTA HAS ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN INDICATING THAT THE A/C CONDENSER IS NOT PROPERLY PROTECTED, CAUSING PREMATURE FAILURE OF THE CONDENSER UNIT. THE NUMBER FOR THIS REPORT IS AC002-06. MY A/C CONDENSER HAS FAILED DUE TO THE FAULTS IN THIS CONDENSER UNIT. I SPOKE WITH TOYOTA AT 1-800-331-4331, AND THEY ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE PART IS FAULTY, BUT REFUSE TO COVER THE REPLACEMENT OF THIS FAULTY UNIT AS PART OF A RECALL. I'M CONCERNED THAT, IF TOYOTA ACKNOWLEDGES THAT THIS PART IS FAULTY, THEY REFUSE TO REALL AND REPLACE THIS PART. *TR

I WAS PARKING IN MY TANDEM PARKING SPOT BEHIND MY HUSBAND'S CAR. I TAPPED THE ACCELERATOR AND THEN STEPPED ON THE BRAKE TO FINISH PARKING. WHEN MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE, THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. I PRESSED HARDER ON THE BRAKE BUT THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE, AND STOPPED WHEN IT HIT MY HUSBAND'S CAR. THE HOOD, BUMPER, GRILL, AND FRONT FENDERS ON MY CAR WERE DAMAGED. THE BUMPER ON HIS CAR WAS CRACKED. I AM CERTAIN I WAS PRESSING THE BRAKE AND NOT THE ACCELERATOR. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH TOYOTA. THEY DID AN EDR INVESTIGATION ON MY CAR BUT COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM OR FIND EVIDENCE OF SUA. THE PERSON WHO DID THE INSPECTION TOLD ME HE DEEMED IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. TOYOTA TAKES ABOUT 3-4 WEEKS TO CLOSE THE CASE FROM THE TIME OF INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO DECELERATE AND TRAVELED OVER A CONCRETE PARKING BARRIER BEFORE CRASHING INTO THE FRONT END OF AN UNOCCUPIED VEHICLE. THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONTAL AIR BAG DEPLOYED, WHICH CAUSED BURNS TO THE CONTACT'S LEFT ARM, BRUISED RIBS AND INJURIES TO THE CHEST AREA. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED IN AN AUTHORIZED DEALER BUT WAS NOT INSPECTED TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE ACCELERATION FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,500.
THE RED WARNING AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. NOTHING HAPPENED, THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY BUT THE RED AIRBAG LIGHT STAYED ON AND IS STILL ON TODAY. I CALLED THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN VALDOSTA BY INTERSTATE 75 AND SPOKE WITH A MECHANIC ABOUT THE AIRBAG LIGHT THAT WAS STAYING ON. HE TOLD ME THERE WAS NO DANGER OF THE AIRBAG BEING DEPLOYED BUT IF I WANTED TO GET IT CHECKED OUT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE WORK. HE ASSURED ME THERE WAS NO DANGER OF THE AIRBAGS NOT WORKING PROPERLY JUST BECAUSE THE RED AIRBAG LIGHT WAS STAYING ON (ON THE DASHBOARD). I DID NOT GET HIS NAME BUT I TRUSTED HIS KNOWLEDGE. NOW THAT THE AIRBAG DANGEROUS RECALLS ARE IN THE NEWS I AM CONCERNED FOR POSSIBLE SAFETY. THE RED AIRBAG LIGHT IS STILL ON. I WANT TO KNOW IF THERE IS ANY KIND OF DANGER FOR ME. ON MAY 19, 2013 MY HUSBAND AND CHILDREN WERE AT A REST STOP...OUR 2006 TOYOTA COROLLA WAS PARKED ENGINE ON WITH THE AIR CONDITION ON AS WELL WHEN THEY HEARD A LOUD EXPLOSION FROM THE BACK OF THE CAR THE REAR WINDSHIELD HAD SHATTERED INTO A MILLION PIECES. IT IS STILL BEING HELD UP BY THE TINT. WE TOOK THE CAR IN TO ATKINS KROLL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND THEY JUST KEPT TELLING US THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE IT WASN'T A RECALL. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE... MY CHILDREN COULD HAVE HAD SHARDS OF GLASS ALL OVER THEIR FACES IF IT WASN'T FOR THE TINT OR HAD THEY BEEN DRIVING ON THE ROAD COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THIS HAPPENED ON I-95 NORTH IN MARYLAND BETWEEN MD-32 AND MD-175. AT HIGHWAY SPEED, THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION OF MY 2006 TOYOTA COROLLA CAME APART. THE CAR IMMEDIATELY STARTED MAKING NOISE AND BEGAN TO SHAKE. I LOST CONTROL FOR A FEW SECONDS FROM THE SHAKING AND THE FEELING AS IF SOMEONE WAS PRESSING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. DRIVING ON US 19 AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH WHEN MY CAR ACCELERATED TO 70 MPH. I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND IT SLOWED BACK DOWN AND WAS FINE AFTER THAT. AFTER DRIVING ABOUT AN HOUR ON A HIGHWAY LATE ON A VERY HUMID EVENING, I EXPERIENCED MOMENTARY LOSS OF BRAKING CAPABILITY WHILE TRAVELING OVER AN UNEVEN ROAD SURFACE (THROUGH CONSTRUCTION AREA). THIS EXPERIENCE OCCURRED REPEATEDLY AS I CONTINUED MY RIDE ALONG MAIN SUBURBAN ROADS AND EVENTUALLY INTO A RESIDENTIAL AREA (AT LEAST 4 MORE TIMES DURING A 20-MINUTE PERIOD). I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND TOYOTA CORPORATE, WHO SAID THAT SINCE THEY COULDN'T (DIDN'T) REPLICATE THE PROBLEM, IT WAS AS IF IT NEVER HAPPENED. WHAT?!! THEY WON'T EVEN LOOK ANY DEEPER INTO MY CAR (EVEN IF I'M WILLING TO PAY THE COST) TO SEE IF THERE ARE ANY NON-OBVIOUS PROBLEMS FOR FEAR OF LEGAL LIABILITY. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD COST TOO MUCH (~$650), AND THEY COULDN'T GUARANTEE THE PROBLEM WOULD BE CORRECTED. I TOLD THEM $650 WAS A SMALL PRICE TO PAY IN COMPARISON TO SOMEONE'S LIFE BEING PUT AT RISK. I FOUND A POSTING ON THE INTERNET THAT THE A/C CONDENSERS ON 2005/2006 COROLLAS ARE NOT PROTECTED AND THERE WAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUED BY TOYOTA- NUMBER AC002-06. TOYOTA HAS REDESIGNED THE COROLLA TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM IN 2007 LEAVING 2005-2006 CUSTOMERS IN THE DUST. I SPOKE WITH THE TOYOTA DEALER IN CHANTILLY ON 8/17/12, AND HE SAID THAT THE TECHNICAL BULLETIN WAS ISSUED ONLY FOR TOYOTA MECHANICS' USE, AND THAT MY CAR WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY, EVEN THOUGH I ONLY HAVE 35,000 MILES ON THE CAR. HE ALSO WANTED TO CHARGE ME WITH $130 TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. I WENT TO MY PERSONAL MECHANIC INSTEAD, AND HE REPLACED THE A/C CONDENSER, CHARGING ME $556 FOR HIS SERVICE. HE ALSO SAID THERE WAS NO WAY TO PROTECT THIS CONDENSER SO THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN IN THE FUTURE. THE VEHICLE HAS VERY FEW MILES, AND TOYOTA IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM.
