WE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL ABOUT DEFECTIVE AIRBAGS BACK IN AUGUST 2015 (EVEN THOUGH THE RECALL WAS MADE AWARE TO NHSA BACK IN MAY 2015). IT IS NOW OCTOBER AND NOTHING HAS OCCURRED TO REMEDY THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION! ALL THE LETTER SAID FROM TOYOTA IS THAT NO ONE SHOULD SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. WITH A FAMILY OF 4, AND THIS BEING OUR ONLY VEHICLE, THAT IS OUTRAGEOUSLY UNACCEPTABLE! WE NEED THAT SEAT. ALSO, IF THE AIRBAG SHOULD DEPLOY METAL MATERIAL, I WOULD THINK THE DEBRIS WOULD NOT BE CONTAINED JUST TO MY FACE, BUT TO MY CHILDREN SITTING IN THE BACK! WHY HAS TOYOTA NOT COMPLETED MANUFACTURING REPLACEMENT AIRBAGS AND SENDING THEM TO ITS CUSTOMERS?! WHY HAVE THEY NOT SENT AN UPDATE TO THIS SITUATION?

IT IS NOW 10-22-15 I HAVE HEARD NOTHING ABOUT THE PART AS OF YET BUT THEY EXPECT ME TO DRIVE MY CAR WITH NO PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT FOR THIS LONG OR IT CAN CAUSE BODILY INJURY OR DEATH-ARE YOU KIDDING ME! PLACED CALL TO LOCAL DEALER ON 11/10/15 AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NO ESTIMATE FOR WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR REPAIR. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER TOYOTA PRODUCT. MY DAD BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW IN 2006 AND HE GAVE ME THE CAR IN 2013. THIS CAR HAS HIT DEAR HEAD ON IN TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS AND THE AIRBAG NEVER DEPLOYED ON EITHER OCCASION. BOTH CAR DEAR CRASHED HAPPENED WHEN MY DAD WAS DRIVING. ON 2/1/15 I GOT INTO MY CAR AND WAS GOING TO GO ON AN ERRAND. I STARTED THE CAR AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. MY DAD CHECKED THE ERROR CODE ON THE CAR AND FOUND IT WAS B1181 WHICH IS THE SAME CODE YOU HAVE RECALLS ON THE 2010-2011 COROLLAS. I BELIEVE THAT MY AIRBAG FAILURE IS A DIRECT RESULT OF THE EARLIER 2 COLLISIONS, WHEN THE AIRBAG FAILED TO DEPLOY DURING THE CAR-DEER ACCIDENTS, AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED FOR A POSSIBLE RECALL. *TR
I DID NOT USE THE CAR THE WHOLE SATURDAY UNTIL 8 PM. IT WAS A VERY COLD DAY IN NY. I STARTED DRIVING AND THE BRAKES WORKED FINE FOR THE FIRST 4 MINUTES, BUT AFTER THAT I WAS GOING DOWNHILL AND THE BRAKES STOPPED WORKING (THEY GOT HARD TO PRESS) AND THE MORE THAT I PRESSED THEM THE RPM BECAME LOWER, I WAS ONLY ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY SHIFTING TO NEUTRAL, PRESSING THE GAS AND THEN THE BRAKES FINALLY WORKED BUT THEN THE CAR TURNED OFF BY ITSELF. TOYOTA HAS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM FOR COROLLA'S 09/10 BUT NOT FOR 06 SO WHEN I CALLED THEM THE REFUSED TO HELP EVEN THOUGH I TOLD THEM I ALMOST KILLED MYSELF, BEING ABLE TO STOP JUST A FEW FEET AWAY FROM AN INTERSECTION. *TR

MY 2006 TOYOTA COROLLA HORN JUST STOPPED WORKING ONE DAY FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE AIRBAG WAS FAULTY AND IT WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. I ASSUMED THAT IT (THE AIRBAG) WOULD BE REPLACED AT TOYOTA'S EXPENSE, BECAUSE OF THERE MANY AIRBAG RECALLS. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE, TOYOTA IS CLAIMING THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT ON THE AIRBAG RECALL LIST. SO, I CONTACTED TOYOTA CORPORATE OFFICE AND OF COURSE I RECEIVED THE "SORRY WE CAN'T HELP YOU STATEMENT"! I WAS COMING UP ON A CURVE ON AN ICY ROAD WHEN MY BACK END SPUN OUT AND I FISH TAILED AND LOST CONTROL OF MY CAR. I ENDED UP IN A DITCH FIRST HEAD ON AT FULL SPEED, I BELIEVE TO BE AROUND 40 MPH AND MY AIR BAGS DID NO DEPLOY, WHEN I OPENED MY EYES AGAIN I WAS FACING THE ROAD. I NOTICED THAT MY STEERING WHEEL WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN SO THAT "12" WOULD GO FARTHER RIGHT THAN "2" OR LEFT THAN "10". I FOUND THAT EVEN WITHIN THAT "10" TO "2" RANGE, THE CAR WAS NOT FOLLOWING MY STEERING FAST ENOUGH TO MAKE TURNS AND CURVES AS QUICKLY AS IT USUALLY DOES. I HAD TO SLOW DOWN SHARPLY TO STAY ON THE ROAD. TEN MINUTES LATER, I HAD TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN THE ROAD IN ORDER TO DIRECT THE WHEELS INTO MY DRIVEWAY. DURING ALL OF THIS, IT SEEMED THAT BOTH ACCELERATION AND BRAKES WERE LESS RESPONSIVE THAN USUAL. MY WIFE WAS COMING BACK HOME AFTER DROPPING OUR 3 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AT THE SCHOOL. AT A SIGNAL, WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN AFTER A RED LIGHT STOP, THE STEERING WHEEL GOT STUCK IN THE RIGHT-TURNED POSITION ITSELF. IT COULD NOT BE BROUGHT BACK TO THE STRAIGHT POSITION FROM THE RIGHT-TURNED POSITION. IN FACT, BRAKES ALSO DIDN'T WORK AT THE SAME TIME. AS CAR WAS VERY SLOW (AS IT HAPPENED RIGHT AFTER THE STOP FOR MAKING THE RIGHT TURN AT THE RED LIGHT SIGNAL), MY WIFE, EVEN THOUGH PANICKED, QUICKLY HIT HARD AT THE STEERING WHEEL WHICH RELEASED THE STEERING WHEEL FROM STUCK POSITION. AFTER THIS SHE WAS ABLE TO BRING THE STEERING WHEEL BACK TO STRAIGHT-WHEEL POSITION AND APPLY THE BRAKES TOO. WE ARE NOT SURE IF WE'D RUN INTO THIS SITUATION AGAIN SO HAVEN'T DRIVEN THE CAR SINCE THEN. *TR

A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. I HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKES ON MY CAR ALMOST EVERY 1 YEAR AND A HALF BECAUSE YOU COULD HERE SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES LIKE THEY ARE METAL TO METAL. ALSO HAVE IN SIDE DOME LIGHT PROBLEMS THE LIGHT WILL NOT COME ON WHEN THE DOORS ARE OPEN THE SWITCH WORKS WHEN THE DOORS ARE CLOSED AND ON ALL THE TIME. CLOCK HAS A SHORT COMES ON FOR 10 MINUTES THEN GOES OUT FOR MONTHS THEN MAYBE COME ON THE OFF FOR MONTHS. VERY UP HAPPY WITH TOYOTA COROLLA LE 2006 SHOULD NOT HAVE PROBLEMS WITH A CAR THAT IS 6 YEARS OLD NOW I HAD IT 8 YEARS AND STILL HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE 0-2 SENSORS. *TR

I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT AT WORK (CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY EAST BAY IN HAYWARD CA) AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH. I APPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE, BUT INSTEAD OF STOPPING, IT WENT OVER THE CURB, CROSSED THE WALKWAY, BROKE THROUGH AND KNOCKED OVER A LARGE BUSH, ROLLED DOWN AN INCLINE FOR 3-4 YARDS, AND STOPPED WHEN IT STRUCK A TREE.
