I HAVE NOTICED TONS OF COMPLAINT ONLINE ABOUT TOYOTA COROLLA 2007 GIVING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WITH THE CODE P0741, YOU CAN ALREADY FIND IT ONLINE AND MANY OF THE OWNER SEEMS TO BE FRUSTRATED ABOUT THIS ISSUE. IN MANY CASES CAR DOES NOT HAVE ANY ISSUE BUT THE LIGHT COMES AND GO, SPECIALLY WITH THE S MODEL. IT INCLUDES CARS WITH 50,000 MILES AND ABOVE. THE NUMBER OF CASES SEEMS TO BE SIGNIFICANT AND TOYOTA DEALERS SEEM TO OFFER TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT WHICH IS APPROXIMATELY THE PRICE OF THE CAR. I HAVE SEEN A RECALL FOR 2005 AND 006 COROLLA FOR COMPUTER CHANGE WITH SIMILAR ERROR CODE BUT WITH THIS HIGH NUMBER OF COMPLAINT, I COULD NOT FIND ANY RECALL FOR COROLLA 2007. THE CODE IS MOST OFTEN READ AS SOLENOID ISSUE WHILE TOYOTA DEALERS SUGGESTED TO REPLACE THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION IN ALL CASES(BASED ON REVIEWS). AFTERWARDS, THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME SAFELY. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING 20-40 MPH, THE VEHICLE HESITATED WHILE SHIFTING GEARS AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TOYOTA MARIETTA (750 COBB PKWY S, MARIETTA, GA 30060, (470) 938-8436) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A COMPUTER UPDATE NEEDED TO BE PERFORMED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CONTACT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COST BECAUSE THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS LISTED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V384000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
NUMEROUS TIMES WHILE DRIVING, REGARDLESS OF SPEED (SOMETIMES ON THE HIGHWAY AT 75 MPH, OTHERS WHEN PULLING OUT FROM A STOP TO CROSS A BUSY INTERSECTION), THE VEHICLE SEIZES AND I LOSE CONTROL OF ALL ACCELERATION AND BRAKING MECHANISMS, WHILE THE ENGINE REVS AND THE CAR SLOWS TO ALMOST TOTAL STOP, WITH MY ONLY HOPE OF SWERVING INTO A DITCH TO AVOID BEING REAR ENDED BY THE CARS AND MASSIVE MAC TRUCKS BEHIND MY VEHICLE, IMPOSSIBLE TO AVOID COLLIDING ON THE NARROW STEEP RURAL ROADS. IN THE COURSE OF ONE MILE, TODAY SPECIFICALLY, THE VEHICLE CONVULSED AND SEIZED FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS, WHERE I COULD ONLY TURN MY BLINKER ON AND HOPE PEOPLE COULD GO AROUND ME. I LONG CONSIDERED THIS ISSUE RELATED TO SLIPPERY ROAD CONDITIONS, BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT IT FEELS LIKE, THOUGH EXPERIENCING THE TERROR OF LOSING COMPLETE CONTROL ON A HOT SUNNY, DRY DAY LAST SUMMER PUT THE SEVERITY OF THIS ISSUE INTO PERSPECTIVE- THE DRIVER NEEDS TO BE IN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND THE FULL OPERATOR OF EVERY FUNCTION TO PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM BECOMING A DEADLY WEAPON. THIS VEHICLE INHIBITS MY ABILITY TO PREVENT HARM. IN TRYING TO DIAGNOSE THIS ISSUE, I HAVE SPENT TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS, AND THE VEHICLE STILL REMAINS UNSAFE. ON 4/9/18, I SPENT $2,065.29 TO REPLACE WHEEL BEARINGS FOR THE SECOND TIME IN UNDER A YEAR AND A HALF, AS WELL AS SERVICED THE EMERGENCY BREAK, PURCHASED NEW TIRES YET AGAIN, AND REBUILT THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION. BACK ON 11/20/17, THE VEHICLE RECEIVED BRAND NEW LF WHEEL BEARING AND BRAND NEW SPARK PLUGS FOR $535.29 TO CURE THE POWER ISSUE, TO NO AVAIL. ONLY 8 MONTHS EARLIER ON 3/30/17, I SPENT IN EXCESS OF $1200 TO SERVICE THE STRUTS, SHOCKS, REAR BRAKES, BREAK PADS, RODARS, BRAKE CALLIPERS, AND REAR EMERGENCY BREAK, AND STILL THE ISSUE PERSISTED. THE ENGINE, WHEELS, AND BRAKES OF THIS 2007 TOYOTA MATRIX CONTINUE TO IMPEDE MY ABILITY TO KEEP THE PEOPLE ON THE ROAD SAFE.
THE TRANSMISSION WONT SHIFT RIGHT AND WONT ALLOW ME TO GO ON THE HIGH WAY
RE: TOYOTA 2007 COROLLA: WHEN DRIVING (IN REVERSE) OUT OF OUR DRIVEWAY, ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE CAR WOULD SUDDENLY JERK, EMIT A LOT OF FUMES, AND IT WOULD TAKE OFF ON ITS OWN. PUTTING PRESSURE ON THE BRAKES WOULD NOT STOP THE CAR- ONLY TURNING OFF THE IGNITION KEY STOPS THE CAR. LAST TIME THIS OCCURRED WAS ON NOVEMBER 4, 2014. AFTER DRIVING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND CHANGING GEARS FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE, THE CAR AGAIN JERKED, MADE A LEFT TURN, DROVE ACROSS OUR LAWN, THROUGH THE BUSHES AND TO OUR NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR?S LAWN. WE ARE LUCKY THAT IT DID NOT SLAM INTO OUR HOUSE OR THE ELECTRIC POLE CLOSE TO OUR DRIVEWAY- EITHER ONE WOULD PROBABLY HAVE KILLED US. TOYOTA DEALER ADVISED TO REPLACE WHOLE TRANSMISSION. THIS CAR WAS LESS THAN 5 YEARS OLD WITH 75,000 MILES ON IT. THE DEALER NEED TO CHARGE $4,000 TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. *JS

THE DEALER REPAIRED THE ALARM FAILURE. IN SEPTEMBER OF 2011, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. ON FEBRUARY 21, 2012, A WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS WITHOUT WARNING WHILE PARKED. THE DEALER TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED. THE DEALER PRODUCED A FAILURE CODE DETECTED FOR THE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH LOCK UP AND RECOMMENDED THAT THE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY BE REPLACED. ON FEBRUARY 24, 2012, AN ECM RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. ALSO IN 2012, THE CONTACT NOTICED RUST ON THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE AND SMALL WHITE CIRCLES (THE SIZE OF BASKETBALLS) ON THE REAR BUMPER AND TRUNK. TWO YEARS LATER, LEOPARD LIKE SPOTS WERE PRESENT ON THE ROOF OF THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECTS. THE MANUFACTURER SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER IN DECEMBER OF 2016 FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THERE WERE ONLY PAINT CHIPS ON THE VEHICLE AND FAILED TO INCLUDE THE EXTENSIVE AMOUNT OF RUST ON THE ROOF. THE SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WOULD USE OXIDATION ON THE VEHICLE REGARDING THE RUST. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE PAINT USED ON THE VEHICLE WAS ENVIRONMENTALLY SAFE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE AIR BAGS. IT WAS UNKNOWN IF THE NOTICE PERTAINED TO THE PASSENGER OR DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT PROVIDED. THE VIN WAS INVALID.

MY VEHICLE BECOMES DISABLED WHILE IN MOTION, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BECOMES ILLUMINATED AND THE ACCELERATOR STOPS RESPONDING. TO AVOID DANGER I AM FORCED TO PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY OR COAST TO A STOP AND TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON SEVERAL TIMES, OFTEN HAVING TO WAIT SEVERAL MINUTES BEFORE IT BECOMES OPERATIONAL AGAIN. THE PROBLEM IS INCREASING IN SEVERITY AND HAS GOTTEN TO A POINT WHERE THE CAR IS A HAZARD AND THEREFORE IS OF NO USE UNTIL IT IS FIXED. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN HAPPENING EVERY 20-30 MILES FOR THE LAST 6 MONTHS OR SO, BUT ONE TIME THE CAR WAS ABLE TO TRAVEL 150 MILES WITHOUT AN ISSUE, WHILE OTHER TIMES IT WILL STALL AND THEN STALL AGAIN NO MORE THAN A MILE LATER. THE CAR HAS BEEN OFFICIALLY RECALLED FOR SAFETY REASONS BY TOYOTA, BUT THE DEALERSHIP HAS REFUSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM, INSISTING THAT THE RECALL DOES NOT APPLY. THE RECALL: "THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) FOR CERTAIN 2005 THROUGH 2008 TOYOTA COROLLA AND COROLLA MATRIX MODELS EQUIPPED WITH THE 1ZZ-FE ENGINE AND TWO-WHEEL DRIVE MAY HAVE BEEN IMPROPERLY MANUFACTURED. THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT A CRACK MAY DEVELOP AT CERTAIN SOLDER POINTS OR ON VARISTORS ON THE CIRCUIT BOARD. I LOOKED THIS PROBLEM UP ON THE INTERNET AND DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS WIDESPREAD AND VERY DANGEROUS IN CERTAIN INSTANCES. MY 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA WITH APPROXIMATELY 68,000 MILES IS SUDDENLY HAVING HARSH TO VIOLENT TRANSMISSION SHIFTS AFTER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD A SHOP IDENTIFY OR DIAGNOSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CODE. THEY SAID IT WAS CODE P2716. I CONDUCTED AN INTERNET INVESTIGATION AND DISCOVERED SEVERAL PEOPLE ALSO EXPERIENCING IDENTICAL ISSUES. ALSO, THE SAME INVESTIGATION REVEALED TOYOTA WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND RELEASED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN. TO ME, THE PROBLEM IS NOT AN ISSUE OF WEAR AND TEAR.
