LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS BOTH WENT OUT AT THE SAME TIME WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THE DRIVER'S SIDE HAS SINCE BEEN REPLACED TWICE OVER THE LAST 6 MONTHS AND IS NOW OUT AGAIN AND THE PASSENGER SIDE HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE. *TR
WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 65 MPH ON ROUTE 11 IN CT WHEN RED LIGHTS COME ON AND CAR SLOWS TO 20 MPH.PULLE TO SIDE OF ROAD AND CALLED AAA/TOWED TO HARTFORD TOYOTA IN HARTFORD CT. FIRST TOLD IT WAS A HYBRID BATTERY THEN TOLD IT WAS THE INVERTER WHICH THEY SAID IS ON BACK ORDER. NOW I,M GETTING THE RUN AROUND FROM THE MAIN OFFICE IN CALIFORNIA.. BROUGHT CAR IN FOR A RECALL ON SOFTWARE UPDATE IN FEB 2014 AND FROM WHAT I READ THIS MAY CAUSE THE INVERT TO FAIL THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION IN THIS MATTER. *TR
ON THURSDAY, JUNE 19TH, JUST BEFORE NOON, POLICE STATE MY WIFE WAS STOPPED AT THE INTERSECTION OF AMERICAN LEGION RD. AND HWYS 61-67. THE TRAFFIC LIGHTS WERE MALFUNCTIONING AND FLASHING RED ALL 4 DIRECTIONS. AFTER STOPPING SHE PROCEEDED ON AND WAS STRUCK ON THE DRIVERS SIDE ABOUT WHERE THE DOOR HINGES ARE. THE DRIVER STATED HE DID NOT SEE THE FLASHING RED LIGHTS. IT PUSHED THE PRIUS ACROSS THE INTERSECTION AND INTO THE CURB SURROUNDING THE TRAFFIC LIGHT. IT WAS A PONTIAC AZTEC WITH THE HIGH HOOD, AND SUPPOSEDLY THE HOOD CRASHED OUT THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW, SHOWERING MY WIFE WITH GLASS. SHE SUFFERED CONCUSSION, BROKEN CLAVICLE, 10 STAPLES IN THE BACK OF HER HEAD, AND HAS EXTENSIVE SWELLING ALONG HER ENTIRE LEFT SIDE. IT ALSO KNOCKED OUT BOTH HEARING AIDS, SCRATCHED UP HER GLASSES FROM THE FLYING GLASS AND KNOCKED HER WATCH OFF. UNFORTUNATELY THE SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. IT IS BEING HANDLED BY HARTFORD INSURANCE SO THEY CAN GIVE YOU MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE DAMAGE. THE CAR HAS ABOUT 38,000 MILES ON IT. THE POLICE REPORT IS BY FESTUS, MO. P.D..... TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA PRIUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE DRIVER SIDE TIRE BECAME LOW ON AIR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO NOTICED THAT THE VALVE STEM SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND HAD IT REPLACED. TWENTY MINUTES LATER THE TIRE SENSOR WARNING ILLUMINATED AND THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE WAS ALSO LOW AND THE STEM VALVE HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,979.
I BROUGHT MY 2010 PRIUS INTO THE TOYOTA MARIN (CALIFORNIA) DEALER IN JANUARY 2014 IN RESPONSE TO THEIR RECALL RELATED TO PROBLEMS WITH STEPPING ON THE BRAKE AND HAVING THE PRIUS ACCELERATE RATHER THAN STOP. THE CORRECTIVE SOFTWARE WAS PRESUMABLY INSTALLED. FAST FORWARD TO FATHER'S DAY, JUNE 15, 2014. I AM PARKING MY PRIUS FOR A FATHER'S DAY BRUNCH. I'M GOING ABOUT TWO MILES PER HOUR INTO A PARKING SPACE. I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. THE CAR ACCELERATES. I MENTALLY DOUBLE CHECK THAT I HAVE MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. I DO. OUT OF CONTROL, THE CAR JUMPS THE CURB AND SMASHES RIGHT INTO A TREE. MY WIFE ASKS IF MY FOOT IS ON THE BRAKE. I TRIPLE CHECK. IT STILL IS--I HAVEN'T MOVED IT. A WEEK LATER I FEEL THE TRAUMA OF CONSTANTLY VISUALIZING THE POSSIBILITY OF HAVING TRIED TO STOP AT A CROSS WALK AND KILLING A FAMILY ON THE WAY TO THEIR FATHER'S DAY BRUNCH. --IT TOOK THREE DAYS OF CONSTANT CALLING AND DYSFUNCTIONAL EXTENSIONS TO CONNECT WITH A PRIUS CASE MANAGER. THEN SHE INFORMED ME IT WOULD TAKE ME MORE THAN A MONTH TO HAVE MY CAR INSPECTED AND GET AN ASSESSMENT. IF I RENTED A CAR THERE WOULD BE NO ASSURANCE IT WOULD BE COVERED. --THIS PROBLEM HAPPENED AFTER I RESPONDED TO THE RECALL. HOW CAN I TRUST A CAR THAT IS AUTOMATICALLY CRASHING AFTER THAT PRECISE PROBLEM HAS ALLEGEDLY BEEN ADDRESSED? --I JUST RECEIVED (JULY 19, 2014) A LETTER FROM TOYOTA SALES SAYING THE CAR'S BRAKES AND ACCELERATOR WERE TESTED AND "ALL IS FINE." HOWEVER, IN MY AND OTHERS' SIMILAR EXPERIENCES THE SURGE HAPPENS ONLY OCCASIONALLY. WE BOUGHT THE CAR USED, HAVE GONE ABOUT 20,000 MILES WITH IT, AND NEVER HAD THE PROBLEM. SO A TEST EVEN FOR A YEAR AT A TIME IS IRRELEVANT. --MY "ASK": SINCE OTHERS SHARE THIS EXPERIENCE AND IT COULD RESULT IN DEATH, I WANT TOYOTA TO SELL THIS CAR FOR PARTS AND RECALL THE 2010 PRIUS UNTIL A SOLUTION CAN BE FOUND. I AM SHOCKED AT PRIUS' IRRESPONSIBILITY. *TR
THE INVERTER IN THE CAR FAILED WHILE ACCELERATING. I ACCELERATED FROM A STOP LIGHT WHILE THE CAR WAS IN POWER MODE. WITHIN A FEW SECONDS, THE CAR LOST POWER, AND I COULD NOT KEEP UP SPEED. THE CAR ENTERED A SAFETY MODE THAT ONLY ALLOWS MINIMAL FORWARD MOVEMENT. A FEW SECONDS LATER, THE CAR WOULD NO LONGER MOVE. BEFORE THE CAR STOPPED, SEVERAL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD INCLUDING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND POWER STEERING LIGHT. "CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM" ALSO APPEARED ON THE DASH. A FEW MONTHS EARLIER, THIS CAR HAD THE SOFTWARE UPDATE OFFERED BY TOYOTA FOR THE COMPANY'S PRIUS RECALL. *TR
JUNE 2, 2016 TWO YEARS AGO MY ORIGINAL HEADLIGHTS FINALLY BURNED OUT. SINCE THAT TIME I HAVE BEEN REPLACING BULBS ABOUT EVERY 3 TO 4 MONTHS, WITH THE LAST BULBS LASTING ONLY 2 MONTHS. ONCE ONE OF THE LOW BEAMS BULBS BURNS OUT THE OTHER BULB BURNS OUT ALMOST IMMEDIATELY. I HAVE JOINED THE PRIUS CHAT FORUM AND HAVE LEARNED THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON AND ONGOING COMPLAINT. IT SEEMS TOYOTA HAS ELECTED TO IGNORE THIS PROBLEM. THE BULB ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IS MOST DIFFICULT TO REPLACE, WITH ME HAVING TO MOVE THE WINDSHIELD RESERVOIR OUT OF THE WAY. I AM GUESSING THIS STARTED ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO.
TWO OCCURRENCES. WAS DRIVING 65 MPH WHEN SUDDENLY CAR BEGAN TO LOSE POWER. WAS UNABLE TO REGAIN ANY POWER BUT WAS ABLE TO COAST TO STOP ON SHOULDER. PRESSED THE ON/OFF BUTTON TO OFF. WAITED A FEW SECONDS AND PUSHED IT ON. WAS THEN ABLE TO DRIVE AGAIN. HOWEVER ABOUT 3 MILES LATER AT 25 MPH THE SAME THING HAPPENED. BOTH SITUATIONS OCCURRED DURING A TURN WITH AN UPHILL GRADE. FIRST TIME THE GRADE CHANGE WAS V.GRADUAL THE SECOND TIME MUCH MORE ABRUPT. NO SUCH PROBLEMS THE PREVIOUS YEAR WE HAVE OWNED THE CAR. DEALER SAID NO CODES WERE FOUND DURING A SCAN. *TR
I WAS LEAVING A PARKING SPACE AND EXITING THE PARKING AREA WHEN BOTH HEADLIGHTS WENT OFF LEAVING ME IN THE DARK. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED THEM ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. I HAD THE RUNNING LIGHTS, THE TURN SIGNALS, THE HIGH BEAMS BUT NO LOW BEAMS. I DROVE HOME WITH MY HIGH BEAMS ON. I WENT TODAY AND REPLACED BOTH BULBS THEN TRIED THE LIGHTS AGAIN. NOTHING. I TOOK THE BULBS BACK AND EXCHANGED THEM AND STILL NO HEADLIGHTS. *TR
WHILST STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, BEHIND A SUBURU, THE BRAKE FAILED AND HIT THE SUBURU. (THIS WAS NOT THE FIRST TIME THE BRAKE FAILED, BUT FORTUNATELY THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS INVOLVED WHEN THE CAR DID NOT STOP. THE DRIVER BELIEVED THAT BLACK ICE WAS INVOLVED, BUT AFTER THE INCIDENT WITH THE SUBURU, REALIZED THAT IT WAS BRAKE FAILURE.) BELIEVING THAT THE AUTO COULD NO LONGER BE TRUSTED, IT WAS SOLD. TOYOTA INSISTED IT WAS DRIVER ERROR., AND CLAIMED THAT THERE WAS NO FAULT IN THE BREAKING SYSTEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA PRIUS. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING IN REVERSE APPROXIMATELY 2 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A PEDESTRIAN AND ALSO AN OCCUPIED PARKED VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DID NOT SUSTAIN AN INJURY HOWEVER, THE PEDESTRIAN SUFFERED UNKNOWN INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THAT THE BATTERY AMPERAGE WAS DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE REMAINED AT THE DEALER FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION RELATED TO THE BRAKING ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
DRIVING DOWN STREET SLIGHT DOWN HILL , DEPRESSING BRAKE AS I APPROACH STOP SIGN, HLT A SMALL BUMP OR POT HOLE IN STREET. CAR BRAKES RELEASE EVEN THOUGH MY FOOT IS STILL ON THE BRAKE. I LURCH FORWARD AND HAVE TO STOMP ON THE BRAKES. IF THERE WAS A CAR IN FRONT OF ME OR A PEDESTRIAN, I WOULD PROBABLY WOULD HAVE HIT THEM. I THOUGHT THIS PROBLEM WAS FIXED IN THE LAST RECALL !!!!!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA PRIUS. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SLOW DOWN. THE CONTACT HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH EXTREME FORCE IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO STOP. THE YELLOW AND RED BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING INDICATORS AND THE ABS WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL FELT LIKE A SPONGE ONCE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS FULLY DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY AND THE BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP ASSEMBLY FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V235000 (SERVICE BRAKES). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
2010 PRIUS 2. MULTIPLE OCCASIONS OF COMPLETE LOSS OF ENGINE POWER AND STALLING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTARTED/REBOOTED CAR. ALL INTERIOR LIGHTS STAYED ON BUT THE ENGINE WAS OFF. DEALER COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND COULD FIND NO FAULTS. *TR

THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED SEVERAL TIMES, BUT WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE AND DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE.

MAKING A RIGHT TURN AT 15 MPH AND UPON PRESSING GAS PEDAL TO ACCELERATE AFTER COMPLETING TURN, POWER IS REDUCED TO 'LIMP HOME MODE' AT 10 MPH. CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM MESSAGE APPEARS ON CENTER CONSOLE. 1 MILE LATER THE VEHICLE LOSES ALL POWER AND WILL NOT RESTART. EMERGENCY TOWED TO NEAREST TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. INVERTER ON BACKORDER FROM LOS ANGELES WAREHOUSE AND ESTIMATE IS 3 WEEKS TO REPLACE. RETAIL PRICE OF INVERTER PLUS LABOR AND RENTAL CAR EXPENSES ALL COVERED UNDER WARRANTY IS ABOUT $11,000 USD. TOYOTA HAS BEEN EXEMPLARY IN THIS ORDEAL AND TAKING CARE OF THE CUSTOMER. ONE OF THE HEADLIGHTS (LOW BEAM) STOPPED WORKING SOMETIMES IN 2013, THEN IT CAME BACK. OVER THE COURSE OF 2013-2014, THE FRONT RIGHT LIGHT WENT OUT AND I HAD THE LIGHT BULB REPLACED. THEN IT DIED AGAIN. I REPLACED BOTH BULBS BASED ON THE AFTERMARKET RECOMMENDATION BUT THE LIGHTS ARE NOT BRIGHT ENOUGH. THE FRONT LEFT PARKING LIGHT ALSO DIED TWICE. SOMETHING IS SCREWY WITH THE ELECTRICAL FOR THE LIGHTS. *TR
(40) FLEET 2010 TOYOTA PRIUS. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLES HEADLIGHTS MALFUNCTION. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HE HAD TO ROUTINELY REPLACE 7-8 HEADLAMPS PER WEEK ON THE FLEET OF 40 VEHICLES. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THE FREQUENT BURNOUT OF THE BULBS WAS LIKELY DUE TO WITHER SECURITY OFFICERS NOT PROPERLY CARING FOR THE VEHICLE OR THE VEHICLES BEING USED MORE FREQUENTLY FOR PERSONAL USE. ALSO, THE WIRING HARNESS FAILED ON THE VEHICLES. THE CONSUMER STATED THERE IS CURRENTLY 1 VEHICLE IN THE SHOP NOW, AND THE DEALER QUOTED A PRICE OF $8,000.00 TO REPLACE THE WIRING HARNESS.*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA PRIUS. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 10 MPH IN A PARKING LOT AND MADE A LEFT TURN WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED HER BRAKES IMMEDIATELY BUT THE BRAKES FAILED, CAUSING THE CONTACT TO DRIVE OVER A STOP SIGN, A CURB AND THEN CRASHING INTO TWO APARTMENT A/C UNITS. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A RULING FROM HER INSURANCE ADJUSTER TO DETERMINE WHETHER OR NOT THE VEHICLE WOULD BE DEEMED AS DESTROYED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
APRIL 23,2014 ENTERED A PARKING STRUCTURE, WHEN PARKING THE CAR, THE CAR ACCELERATED, WITHOUT REASON. CAR HIT AND BROKE THE PARKING BARRIER, WHICH WAS A OAK LOG. REPORTED TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP BUT DID NOT WANT TO VIEW THE CAR, CLAIMED IT WAS PROBABLY OPERATOR ERROR. FOOT BOTH ON GAS AND BRAKE AT SAME TIME. I DO NOT DRIVE WITH TWO FEET, SAID DID NOT THINK IT WAS THAT. HE THEN REFERRED ME TO THE TOYOTA CORPORATE LINE, I HAVE A FILE WITH THEM ABOUT THE ACCELERATION ISSUE. JUST HAPPY THIS HAPPENED IN A PARKING STRUCTURE AND NOT IN A CROSSWALK SITUATION WHERE A PEDESTRIAN COULD HAVE BEEN HIT. *TR
THE LOW BEAM BULB LAMP CAME LOOSE FROM ITS HOUSING - MELTING THE SOCKET, AND WHILE STILL "WORKING" DID NOT PROVIDE PROPER ILLUMINATION FOR NIGHT DRIVING AND PERHAPS POSED A FIRE HAZARD. UPON TAKING TO THE DEALER, THEY REPLACED THE ENTIRE UNIT (FOR $720.08) AND HAVE ORDERED A RETROFIT BRACKET (IT IS ON BACK ORDER) THAT THEY WILL INSTALLED TO PREVENT RE-OCCURRENCE. SEEMS THERE IS A PROBLEM - THEY KNOW IT - BUT THE PUBLIC BARES THE COST AND POSSIBLE SAFETY ISSUES ASSOCIATED WITH THE PROBLEM. THEY ARE NOT TAKING ANY PROACTIVE ACTION TO INSTALL A RETROFIT BRACKET TO PREVENT THE WORKING LAMP ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE CAR FROM DISLODGING AND CAUSING A SIMILAR PROBLEM. *TR
IF THE VEHICLE HITS A POT HOLE WHILE SLOWING DOWN, THERE'S A SUDDEN LOSS OF BRAKING POWER AND THE VEHICLE MOVES A FEW FEET FORWARD. THE VSC LIGHT COMES ON AT THE SAME TIME. I'D NOTICED THIS A FEW TIMES IN THE PAST BUT WITH THE ROADS DETERIORATING AFTER A BAD WINTER, THE POT HOLES ARE BIGGER AND THIS IS VERY PROMINENT AND SCARY. GOING TO TAKE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. I FEEL IT'S DEFINITELY AN ISSUE WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM. *TR
VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT WITH ENGINE RUNNING. ENGINE SUDDENLY STOPPED AND WOULD NOT RESTART. A CHECK HYBRID SIGNAL APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION. IT HAD TO BE TOWED. *TR

APPLYING BRAKES, EITHER GRADUALLY OR WITH FORCE, WHILE FRONT LEFT OR FRONT RIGHT TIRE TRAVELS OVER A POTHOLE OR SUNKEN MANHOLE COVER RESULTS IN TEMPORARY (< 1 SECOND) COMPLETE LOSS OF BRAKING POWER. BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED THROUGH THE ENTIRE DURATION OF THE INCIDENT. LOSS OF BRAKING POWER RESULTS IN DRIVER APPLYING BRAKE WITH MORE FORCE. WHEN BRAKES RESUME POWER, THE INCREASED FORCE RESULTS IN A SUDDEN DROP IN SPEED. THE SRS WARNING LIGHT (AIRBAG ICON) LIT UP AFTER PULLING MY 2010 PRIUS OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY ON APRIL 4, 2014. WE TESTED WHETHER THE SEATBELT HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT, OR WHETHER IT MADE A DIFFERENCE IF SOMEONE WAS SEATED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT OR NOT. NEITHER SEEMED TO MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED AUGUST 1, 2009, AND HAS JUST OVER 61000 MILES ON IT. IT HAS NOT BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS, NOR RUN OVER ANYTHING. THERE IS AN UMBRELLA THAT I STORE ON THE FLOOR OF THE VEHICLE, CLOSE TO THE DRIVER'S SEAT. SINCE THAT TIME, THE LIGHT APPEARS INTERMITTENTLY, BUT WHEN IT COMES ON, IT STAYS ON THE ENTIRE DAY. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, BUT IT WAS NOT DISPLAYING AT THE TIME, SO THEY RECOMMENDED BRINGING IT BACK WHEN IT WAS SHOWING UP MORE CONSISTENTLY. *JS
I AM WRITING DUE TO HAVING HAD MY 2010 TOYOTA PRIUS SELF ACCELERATE WHILE DRIVING ON FOUR OCCASIONS. THIS BEGAN OCCURRING AFTER I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO TOYOTA OF CLERMONT, FLORIDA FOR A ROUTINE SERVICE ON 3/31/2014. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS THERE, THE DEALERSHIP ALSO PERFORMED A RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. THIS RECALL IS REFERENCED AS: TECH(S) : 20799 RECALL EOE MOTOR GENERATOR AND POWER MANAGEMENT UPDATE PERFORM SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR MG ECU AND POWER MANAGEMENT ECU AGG09A 0.7 AS OF 8/5/2014 MY VEHICLE HAS HAD UNINTENDED ACCELERATION ON 4 OCCASIONS. IN 3 OF THE 4 I KNOW IT HAS OCCURRED AS I RELEASED THE BRAKE. THIS RELEASE IS CONFIRMED BY THE FACT THAT IT IS NECESSARY TO REAPPLY THE BRAKE TO STOP THE ACCELERATION. THE 4TH OCCURRENCE MAY ALSO HAVE OCCURRED AFTER A BRAKE RELEASE. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM VIA BOTH MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER AND TOYOTA CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE CENTER AT 1 800 331-4331. I AM BEING TOLD THE PROBLEM IS OPERATOR ERROR. I HAVE DONE THE RESEARCH TO SEE IF THIS IS EVEN POSSIBLE. FOR ME TO APPLY THE BRAKE AND FUEL SIMULTANEOUSLY WOULD BE BOTH EXTREMELY DIFFICULT AND VERY OBVIOUS. ADDITIONALLY IF THIS DIAGNOSIS WERE CORRECT THE VEHICLE WOULD STOP ACCELERATING WHEN THE BRAKE WAS RELEASED. IN FACT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES WHEN THE BRAKE IS RELEASED NOT WHILE THE BRAKE IS DEPRESSED. *TR
FUSE BOX COVER LEFT LOOSE BY DEALER AFTER PRIUS RECALL SERVICE. IN THE PROCESS OF DOING THE ENGINE SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR THE PRIUS RECALL, APPARENTLY THE TOYOTA DEALER TECHNICIAN FAILED TO ENGAGE THE HOOKS & TABS AT THE BACK OF THE FUSE BOX COVER, AND JUST "CLICKED" THE FRONT LATCH; THIS LEFT THE FUSE BOX COVER LOOSE AND EXPOSED TO WATER PENETRATION. THE LOOSE FUSE BOX COVER MIGHT PERMIT WATER TO ENTER THE FUSE BOX COMPARTMENT, CAUSING A SHORT. THE SHORT COULD SHUT-DOWN CAR ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS CAUSING A CATASTROPHIC SHUT-DOWN OF ENGINE, AIR BAGS, POWER BRAKES, ETC. THIS COULD EASILY RESULT IN LOSS OF LIFE, WHEN THE ENGINE STOPS AND SAFETY SYSTEMS (AIR BAGS) FAIL DUE TO THE SHORT; THIS SIMILAR TO THE GM IGNITION RECALL ISSUE. THIS IS ESPECIALLY CRITICAL IN A "DRIVE-BY-WIRE" CAR LIKE THE PRIUS. ==>THE TOYOTA PRIUS RECALL IS BEING DONE IMPROPERLY (AT LEAST OCCASIONALLY), LEADING TO A MUCH MORE SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. SERIOUS OIL CONSUMPTION. TOOK IT TO THREE DIFFERENT TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS AND THEY ALL HAVE SAID THE OIL CONSUMPTION IS WITHIN NORMAL LIMITS. HAVE TO ADD OIL EVERY1000 MILES. I NEVER HAD TO ADD OIL TO A CAR AND THIS MY THIRD TOYOTA. THE THIRD DEALERSHIP EVEN TOLD ME TO TRADE IT IN AND GET A NEW ONE. I HAVE SEEN OTHERS COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS ON CARCOMPLAINTS.COM. PASSENGER AIRBAG DOESN'T GO ON 50% OF THE TIME. I TRIED TO REMEDY IT TODAY AT DEALERSHIP, SO I LISTED TODAY AS INCIDENT DATE..BUT REALLY BEEN HAPPENING SINCE OCTOBER 2013 WHEN I BOUGHT IT USED. THE AIR BAG READS: PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF WHEN A PERSON, GREATER THAN 100LBS SITS IN THE FRONT SEAT. I HAVE PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE OF A PERSON SITTING IN FRONT SEAT, WITH PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF, YET DEALER CANNOT FIX IT BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM, OR COULD GET A MALFUNCTION CODE. I STATED, IT ONLY HAPPENS APPROX 50% OF THE TIME. I ONLY TOOK ONE PHOTO ONE DAY LAST WEEK...I OFFERED I COULD HAVE 20 PHOTOS! OF A PERSON IN THE FRONT SEAT WITH THE SIGN PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF, BUT UNLESS THE DEALER CAN RECREATE IT AND IT WARRANTS A MALFUNCTION CODE, THEN THEY CAN FIX IT. I AM FRUSTRATED BEYOND BELIEF, AS I HAVE PROOF THE AIR BAG SENSOR IS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY, AND YET THE DEALER AND TOYOTA CANNOT FIX IT. THE SERVICE MANAGER STATED HE WOULD "OPEN A CASE" WITH TOYOTA, AND I DID THE SAME AS WELL. I ALSO TOLD TOYOTA I WAS ENTERING THIS INTO THE NHTSA DATATBASE. THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT IN LATE MARCH 2014. IT WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER ON MARCH 29. ON APRIL 12, BOTH HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING IN THE DARK. ON APRIL 13, THE SMALLER LIGHTS ABOVE THE HEADLIGHTS WERE ALSO OUT. THEY CONTINUE TO NOT WORK. THE LIGHTS IN THE REAR OF THE CAR ARE FUNCTIONING. *TT
MY 2010 PRIUS HAS HAD AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE MAIN HEADLAMPS BLOWING, BECOMING INOPERATIVE AND EFFECTIVELY LEAVING ME WITH DIMINISHED VISIBILITY. THIS HAS HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY EVERY 3 MONTHS SINCE MARCH 2014. EITHER ONE OR BOTH HEADLAMPS WILL BLOW. THIS IS DUE TO A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL AND IS COVERED UNDER A TOYOTA/NHTSA SERVICE BULLETIN (TSP-0204-12). IN MY CASE, I PURCHASED THE CAR USED, FROM A TOYOTA DEALER WITH THE TOYOTA CERTIFIED CAR WARRANTY, BUT THIS FAILURE OF THE WIRING HARNESS IS APPARENTLY NOT COVERED. JUDGING BY THE PERCENTAGE OF COMPLAINTS IN THE SAFERCAR.GOV DATABASE FOR THIS MODEL, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND MY EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN TYPICAL. AFTER DRIVING FOR A COMBINED TIME OF 4 HOURS IN A 5 HOUR PERIOD, MY WIFE LEFT A STORE SHE VISITED OFF ZEBULON ROAD AND I-475 NEAR MACON GA. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO RE-ENTER SOUTHBOUND I-475 THE CAR FAILED AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. A FEW SECONDS AFTER THE DRIVE SYSTEM SHUT DOWN AND WOULD NOT RESTART. THE DASH INDICATORS SAID CHECK HYBRID POWER SYSTEM. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A DEALER ROGERS TOYOTA IN MACON GA, WHERE IT NOW IS. THE DEALER SAYS THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE THOUGH THE INVERTER IS BEING REPLACED UNDER AN EXISTING RECALL ISSUED LAST WEEK. A RECALL ISSUED FOR AN ELECTRONIC COMPONENT OF MY VEHICLE IN FEBRUARY 2014. AFTER SEARCHING THE RECALL DATABASE BY MY VIN, I LEARNED OF THE RECALL AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT (MARCH 8, 2014) TO HAVE MY CAR SERVICED BY THE SAME DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED IT (NORTH HOLLYWOOD TOYOTA, 4606 LANKERSHIM BLVD, NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA 91602). WHEN I WENT TO PICK UP THE VEHICLE, I WAS TOLD BY DEALERSHIP EMPLOYEES THAT THE RECALL DID NOT APPLY TO MY CAR, AND THEREFORE NO FIX WAS MADE. THE RECALL WEBSITE SHOWS THAT THE RECALL REMAINS TO THIS DAY, AND IS MARKED INCOMPLETE. MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING HONE FROM WORK AND GOT ON THE FREEWAY EARLY MONDAY MORNING APPROXIMATELY 1:05 AM AND SUDDENLY THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT. SHE TRIED TURNING THEM BACK ON AND OFF AND ON AGAIN BUT STILL NO LIGHTS, SO SHE HAD TO DRIVE HOME IN THE DARK WITH NO HEAD LIGHTS. SHE WAS ALMOST HIT BY OTHER DRIVERS BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT SEE HER. TOYOTA RELEASE A RECALL FOR 2010 TO 2014 TOYOTA PRIUS. RECALL WAS MADE TO AFFECTED PRIUS MODELS TO RECTIFY SOFTWARE IN TWO OF THE PRIUS'S ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNITS, ONE FOR THE MOTOR/GENERATOR AND THE OTHER CONTROLLING THE HYBRID SYSTEM.I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE RECALL DONE, HERE IS WHERE MY PROBLEMS STARTED, I SAW A DROP ON MPG FROM 52 TO 44. I PURCHASED A CERTIFIED USED 2010 TOYOTA PRIUS FROM THE EAST COASTS NUMBER ONE CERTIFIED USED TOYOTA DEALER. I WAS PRESENTED WITH PAPERS SHOWING ALL THE CHECKS PERFORMED WITH A CERTIFIED USED TOYOTA AND THAT THE VEHICLE I WAS PURCHASING HAD PASS ALL THE INSPECTIONS. I TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE DURING THE DAY AND DID NOT USE THE HEADLIGHTS. ONCE I WAS HOME (OVER 3 HOURS AWAY) I USED THE HEADLIGHTS FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS. THE DRIVER'S SIDE LIGHTS WERE VERY DIM. I TOOK THE LOW BEAM BULB OUT AND NOTICE A LOT OF CORROSION ON THE BULB AND MOISTURE IN THE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY. I LET IT DRY OUT AND REPLACED BOTH THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM LIGHT BULBS. OVER THE SUMMER I NOTICED A FEW TIME MOISTURE WOULD BUILD UP BUT WOULD BE GONE WITHIN A FEW DAYS. NOW DURING THE WINTER THE MOISTURE HAS FROZEN INSIDE THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY AND IMPEDES ON THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE HEADLAMP. MY VISIBILITY IS REDUCED AND HAS NOW BECOME A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE NOT OWNED THE VEHICLE FOR A FULL YEAR YET AND EVEN PURCHASED THE TOP OF THE LINE EXTENDED TOYOTA WARRANTY. MY LOCAL DEALER STATED IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER ANY WARRANTY AND THAT WOULD COST AROUND $500 TO BE REPLACED. ON MONDAY FEBRUARY 24TH 2014 MY 2010 TOYOTA PRIUS, HYBRID INVERTER FAILED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND MY CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED ON THE ROAD. I LOOKED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CAR WOULD NOT START. I DECIDED TO CALL A TOLL TRUCK COMPANY TO TAKE ME TO THE NEAREST TOYOTA DEALER. ONCE I ARRIVED THE SERVICE ADVISOR INFORMED ME, THE 2010 TOYOTA PRIUS HAS TWO ACTIVE SAFETY RECALLS. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED. THE TWO SAFETY RECALLS ARE THE HYBRID INVERTER & BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP ASSEMBLY. TODAY IS THURSDAY FEBRUARY 27TH 2014 AND THE TOYOTA DEALER HAS FAILED TO REPAIR AND RETURN MY CAR. THE TOYOTA DEALER STATED THIS IS A SAFETY RECALL, THEY NEED PERMISSION FROM TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS TO APPROVE PARTS. I PLEADED WITH THE TOYOTA DEALER TO PROVIDE ME WITH A VEHICLE, WHILE I WAIT, THEY REFUSED. *TR
I STARTED NOTICING A HIGH PITCH NOISE SPORADICALLY ON MY CAR AFTER IT WAS A FEW MONTHS OLD. IF I STOPPED AND RESTARTED THE CAR, THE NOISE WOULD GO AWAY. WHEN I BROUGHT IT TO TOYOTA THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. IT WOULD HAPPEN ABOUT 1-3 TIMES PER MONTH AND SOME MONTHS NOT AT ALL. ON THIS PARTICULAR TRIP ABOUT A MONTH AGO, I DID NOT NOTICE THE NOISE ON START UP (I HAD A COLD THAT AFFECTED MY HEARING), BUT DID HEAR IT AFTER GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY. THERE WAS NO WHERE TO REASONABLY PULL OVER AND RESTART THE CAR SAFELY, SO I KEPT DRIVING. AFTER ABOUT 15-30 MINUTES THE SPEEDOMETER CLUSTER/DASH THAT DISPLAYS THE SPEED, FUEL AND DRIVE POSITION WENT BLANK AND THE NOISE WENT AWAY. SEARCHING ONLINE THERE WERE AT LEAST A HANDFUL OF OTHERS WHO EITHER HAD THEIR SPEEDOMETER REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY OR OTHERWISE WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I ALSO FOUND A RECALL ON THE 2009, A YEAR EARLIER, PRIUS FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND YES THE SAME COMPANY MAKES THE PART. I BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE DEALER ASAP AND THE DEALER WANTED TO CHARGE ME $120 TO DIAGNOSE. WHEN I QUESTIONED THEM, THEY SAID THEY NEED TO TAKE THE DASH APART, WHICH IS A LIE AS THIS WOULD BE MORE EXPENSIVE AS PER OUR CONVERSATION. I ASKED FOR A QUICK COMPUTER DIAGNOSIS AND THEY REFUSED. I THEN CALLED TOYOTA WHO SAID MY CAR IS LONG OUT OF WARRANTY FOR THIS PART AND THAT BECAUSE I DIDN'T PAY FOR A DIAGNOSIS THEY WOULD NOT TAKE IT FURTHER. WHEN I PRESSED ON WITH THEM THEY HID BEHIND CONFIDENTIALITY WHEN I ASKED ABOUT OTHERS WHO HAD THIS ISSUE AND THEN THEY SAID EVEN IF I PAID FOR A DIAGNOSIS AND THIS WAS FOUND DEFECTIVE THERE ARE NO PROMISES. THEY WANT ~$1,200 TO FIX THIS DEFECT. *TR
WHILE RETURNING FROM WORK AT 5:30 PM, 02/18/14 ON HIGHWAY 90 WEST TO ALBANY, NY, WITH CRUISE CONTROL SET TO 50 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL GOT STUCK ON MY 2010 TOYOTA PRIUS. THE PEDAL DID NOT RETURN BACK TO ITS ORIGINAL POSITION EVEN WHEN I TURNED OFF CRUISE CONTROL. I SPONTANEOUSLY TAPPED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IN THE HOPE OF RELEASING BUT DID NOT YIELD ANY RESULTS AND THE VEHICLE MAINTAINED ITS SPEED. APPLYING BRAKES MADE NO EFFECT AND DID NOT CURTAIL THE CAR. IT CONTINUED TO MOVE WITH ALMOST THE SAME SPEED EVEN WHEN BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED. I HAD NO CONTROL ON MY CAR IN ONE OF BUSIEST FREEWAYS. I CONTINUOUSLY APPLIED THE BRAKES AND TRIED TO MERGE TO THE RIGHT MOST LANE WITH HAZARD BLINKERS ON. IT TOOK MORE THAN 5 MILES PANIC RIDE TRYING TO AVOID TRUCKS AND OTHER CARS TO MERGE TO THE RIGHT LANE. EVEN WITH THE BRAKE FULLY DEPRESSED, THE 2010 PRIUS DID NOT SLOW DOWN AND I MANAGED TO REACH THE SHOULDER LANE WHICH HAD GRAVEL & SNOW. THEN I PRESSED PARK BUTTON AND SWITCHED OFF THE ENGINE BY PRESSING THE POWER BUTTON. I COULD FEEL THE WHEELS LOCK UP BUT THE PRIUS CONTINUED TO MOVE WITH STRONG RUBBER BURNING SMELL. FINALLY, I ENGAGED THE PARKING BREAKS TO STOP IT FROM MOVING INTO THE FREEWAY. AFTER COMPLETE STOP, WITH DIFFICULTY I MANUALLY PULLED UP THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THIS ENTIRE ORDEAL WAS SHOCKING AND AN UNBELIEVABLE NARROW ESCAPE FROM A MAJOR CATASTROPHIC EVENT. I THANKED GOD & CALLED 911 AND THE HIGHWAY PATROL POLICE CAME TO THE SPOT AND PROMPTLY HELPED TO MOVE THE VEHICLE AND MYSELF FROM THE FREEWAY TRAFFIC. THE 2010 TOYOTA PRIUS WAS MOVED TO TOYOTA DEALER SERVICE CENTER WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR & PERFORMED EVERY SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE SERVICE PUNCTUALLY. INCIDENTALLY THE LAST SERVICE AND CERTIFICATION WAS IN 12/2013. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT EVEN REGULAR DEALER MAINTENANCE SERVICE AND CERTIFICATION DID NOT HELP THIS VEHICLE. THE OIL DOOR FELLS OFF. *TR
2010 TOYOTA PRIUS. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE ENGINE PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING, SHE HEARD A POP AND THE ENGINE AND POWER STOPPED. SHE COASTED TO THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL AND THE VEHICLE CAME TO A SUDDEN, FULL STOP. THE WARNING MESSAGE ON THE DISPLAY READ, CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSIS, AND INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THE PROBLEM WAS THE COMPUTER THAT RAN THE HYBRID SYSTEM. HOWEVER, THE PART WAS ON NATIONAL BACKORDER. IT TOOK A MONTH, FOR THE PART TO ARRIVE. THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE, FOR THE VERY PART THAT FAILED ON HER VEHICLE. *JB
THE ABS/BRAKE/STABILITY LIGHTS ARE "ON" PRIUS DASH. THE BRAKE LOST PRESSURE AND MUSHY. THE BRAKE MUST BE PUMPED A FEW TIMES TO GET PRESSURE AND TO STOP THE CAR. EITHER THIS IS ABS ACCUMULATOR(JUST FOUND OUT THERE IS A RECALL WHILE GETTING DEALER APPOINTMENT) FAILURE OR BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER FAILURE. THERE IS NO FLUID LEAK VISIBLE OUTSIDE OR INDICATOR LIGHT BUT THE FLUID IS ALMOST EMPTY IN THE RESERVOIR. I DON'T HAVE DEALER DIAGNOSIS AT THIS POINT YET. I'M NOT SURE IF THE ACCIDENT I HAVE ON 1/27/2014 THAT I'VE REAR-ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE WHILE TRAVELING ABOUT 30-35MPH AND TRIED TO STOP BUT THE CAR DID NOT STOP AND BUMPED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT. FORTUNATELY, THERE IS INJURY OR MAJOR DAMAGES. AT THAT TIME I DIDN'T THINK OF IT THAT THE BRAKE MAY HAVE ISSUE OR NOT BUT THINKING BACK THE BRAKE DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH BITE TO STOP EVEN THOUGH THE CAR IS TRAVELING SLOW ENOUGH AND THERE IS AMPLE DISTANCE. AS FAR AS I REMEMBER I DO NOT FEEL THE ABS KICKING IN EITHER. HOPEFULLY, I'LL FIND OUT MORE FROM DEALER SERVICE. THANKS. *TR
WHEN MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING OUT OF THE PARKING LOT IN CHARLOTTE ON FRIDAY 02/07, ALL 3 LIGHTS - BRAKE, ABS, SKID CONTROL LIGHTS ALL WENT UP. WHEN HE STEPPED ON THE BRAKE, HE DIDN'T FEEL ANYTHING. LUCKILY HE WAS JUST GETTING OUT OF THE PARKING LOT, SO HE WAS DRIVING SLOWLY. WHEN HE STEPPED ALL THE WAY DOWN ON THE BRAKE, IT HAD THIS LOUD METAL RATTLING NOISE, AND HE WAS ABLE TO STOP. WE TOWED THE CAR TO TOWN AND COUNTRY TOYOTA ON SATURDAY, THE ASSISTANT SERVICE MANAGER SAID HE'S NEVER SEEN IT BEFORE, AND THE ERROR CODE SHOWN DURING DIAGNOSIS IS A CODE THEY'VE NEVER SEEN. THE MESSAGE ASKED THEM TO CONTACT TOYOTA TECHNICAL SERVICE. ON MONDAY 02/10, THE DEALER CALLED AND TOLD US THAT IT WILL COST OVER $4500 TO FIX IT. WE BOUGHT THE CAR IN FEB 2011 AS BRAND NEW CAR, SO IT'S JUST 3 YEARS OLD. I THEN CONTACTED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND REQUESTED THAT TOYOTA COVERS THE REPAIR. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NO RECALL PROGRAM RELATED TO THIS PROBLEM, AND THAT IF I RUN INTO THE SAME SITUATION AGAIN, OR OTHER PEOPLE RUN INTO THE SAME ISSUE, THEN TOYOTA MIGHT CONSIDER A RECALL, AND WOULD REFUND ME FOR THE REPAIR. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT I HOPE I'LL NEVER RUN INTO IT AGAIN EVER! IT JUST SEEMS TOYOTA IS VERY COLD AND INDIFFERENT TO PEOPLE'S SAFETY. *TR
THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME STOPPED ABRUPTLY AND I SLAMMED ON MY BRAKES. I HELD THEM TO THE FLOOR AND THE CAR CONTINUED AT THE SAME SPEED INTO THE REAR END OF THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I WAS AT LEAST 1 AND 1/2 CAR LENGTHS AWAY WHEN I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY STATE FARM INSURANCE THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE 2010 PRIUS. I WAS TOLD MY MY TOYOTA CAR DEALER THAT MY CAR WAS BUILT IN MARCH 2010 AND THUS WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. I PURCHASED THIS CAR IN 11/13. IS THERE A WAY TO VERIFY EXACTLY WHICH DAY MY CAR WAS BUILT? *TR
THE HEADLIGHTS BURN OUT ON A REGULAR BASIS. SHORTLY AFTER REPLACING THE BULB IT WILL BURN OUT AGAIN (USUALLY WITHIN A WEEK). AT TIMES BOTH SIDES BURN OUT AT THE SAME TIME WITHOUT WARNING CAUSING A SAFETY HAZARD. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM FOR TOYOTA PRIUS PRODUCTS. WE HAVE CONTACTED THE COMPANY WHO STATES THIS PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED WITH THE 09 MODEL YEAR AND REFUSE TO ADMIT OR ASSIST WITH REPAIRS OF THE KNOWN ELECTRICAL DEFECT. *TR
