TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR STICKS AND IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO OPEN. SHE HAS TO USE EXCESSIVE FORCE TO OPEN THE DOOR. THE DOOR ALSO FREEZES IN THE WINTER. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THREE OR FOUR TIMES, BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE DEALER STATED THAT ONCE THE 36 MONTH WARRANTY EXPIRED, THE REPAIR WOULD COST $1,800. IN ADDITION, THE REAR AUTOMATIC HATCHBACK CLOSES PREMATURELY AND TOO QUICKLY, WHICH COULD INJURE THE CONTACT'S CHILDREN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 32,000.
2005 TOYOTA SIENNA, MANUAL REAR LIFT GATE STRUTS HAVE FAILED, WILL NO LONGER HOLD THE LIFT GATE OPEN. TOYOTA SENT OUT A NOTICE FOR POWER LIFT GATES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I TOOK THIS COMPLAINT TO TWO LOCAL DEALERSHIPS AND THEY STATED THAT MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE NOTICE. WE ARE FORTUNATE THAT THIS DID NOT RESULT IN ANY INJURIES. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA WITH ALL WHEEL DRIVE AND RUN-FLAT TIRES. I WAS TOLD THAT THE CAR HAS A TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM (TPMS). I HAD TWO EVENTS OF LOW TIRE PRESSURE THAT WENT UNDETECTED BY ME. BOTH TIMES I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER WHO TOLD ME THE NOISE AND VIBRATION WAS DUE TO LOW TIRE PRESSURE. I TOLD THEM THAT I NEVER SAW THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD. THE LATEST EVENT WAS A BLOW-OUT OF THE LEFT FRONT RUN-FLAT TIRE ON HWY 85 IN CA. THE CAR WAS DIFFICULT TO HANDLE AND I SLOWED AND EXITED THE FREEWAY AND THERE WAS NEVER A TPMS WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD TO INDICATE LOSS OF TIRE PRESSURE. THE TIRE WAS TOTALLY GONE. HAD TO COVER THE COST OF THAT REPAIR. I RECENTLY TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER TO FIND OUT WHY THE TPMS WAS NOT WORKING. THE DEALER THEN TOLD ME THAT THE TPMS SYSTEM ON THE 2005 TOYOTA IS BASED ON THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM AND USES THE SPEED OF TIRE ROTATION AND NOT DIRECT TIRE PRESSURE MEASUREMENTS. FURTHERMORE, THEY TOLD ME THAT THE TMPS WAS WORKING PERFECTLY. I FIND APPLICATION OF A TMPS BASED ON TIRE CIRCUMFERENCE WITH RUN-FLAT TIRES IS COMPLETELY USELESS. THERE IS NO WAY THE 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA TMPS WILL EVER WORK WITH RUN-FLAT TIRES. THE RUN-FLAT TIRES HAVE EXTREMELY STRONG SIDE-WALLS TO ALLOW THE CAR TO CONTINUE WITH LITTLE AIR PRESSURE BUT, THAT MEANS THE TIRE DOES NOT DEFORM WITH LOW TIRE PRESSURE. THE FACT THAT I HAD A TOTAL TIRE BLOWOUT WITHOUT A TMPS WARNING LIGHT SHOWING MEANS THE TMPS SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK. I FIND THIS SYSTEM TO BE UNSAFE AND I WANT TO KNOW WHAT IS BEING DONE AND HOW COULD THIS TMPS SYSTEM COMPLY WITH DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION RULE CFR CITATION: 49 CFR PARTS 571 AND 590; DOCKET ID: NHTSA 2000-8572, RIN ID 2127-A133? *TR
THE CABLE THAT IS USED TO OPEN AND SHUT THE AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOORS OF 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA STARTED TO CORRODE AND EVENTUALLY SNAPPED AT ABOUT 40,000 MILES. WE REMOVED THE BROKEN CABLE AND OPEN AND SHUT THE DOOR MANUALLY. THE CABLE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE VAN IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME CORROSION AND I AM EXPECTING IT TO FRAY AND SNAP TOO. I CHECKED IN TO FIXING THE PROBLEM AND WAS QUOTED $1500 PER DOOR. *TR
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA (USED) AND AFTER A FEW DAYS OF OWNING THE MINI VAN THE MANUAL REAR HATCH DOOR DID NOT REMAIN ELEVATED AS IT HAD PREVIOUSLY DONE AND WAS DESIGNED TO DO. THE DOOR, WHICH IS HEAVY, SIMPLY FELL DOWN AND BUMPED ME. I DETERMINED THAT THE FAILURE WAS THE STRUTS (REAR LIFTGATE STRUTS) AND I PROCEEDED TO GET PART QUOTES FROM VARIOUS LOCAL TOYOTA PARTS DEPARTMENTS RANGING FROM $200-$700 (SEEMED A HIGH RANGE...AND I WAS NEVER INFORMED OF A SERVICE BULLETIN THAT WAS ISSUED). I NEXT DID SOME SEARCHES ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT THIS DEFECT WAS A RECURRING ISSUE WITH THE TOYOTA SIENNA AND THAT TOYOTA HAD ISSUED A BULLETIN AND EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO COVER THIS ITEM. UPON RECEIVING RESISTANCE FROM LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS TO COVER THIS WORK UNDER WARRANTY, I CALLED TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS TO MAKE A COMPLAINT. I THEN MADE AN APPOINTMENT AT KINGS TOYOTA IN CINCINNATI, OH AND MADE THEM AWARE OF THE SPECIFIC ISSUE, WARRANTY, ETC AND BROUGHT THE CAR IN ABOUT 4 DAYS LATER FOR MY SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT. AFTER DROPPING OFF THE VEHICLE, I RECEIVED A CALL BACK THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS IN-STOCK (EVEN THOUGH I HAD MADE THE APPOINTMENT SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS WARRANTY ITEM, AND ALSO INFORMED THEM WHEN I DROPPED OFF THE CAR OF EXACTLY WHAT PARTS AND WORK WAS NEEDED). I WANTED TO MAKE NHTSA AWARE OF THE SEEMING RESISTANCE / DELAYS OF TOYOTA TO FIX THIS ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE. FORTUNATELY, I CAUGHT THE REAR DOOR BEFORE IT HIT ME VERY HARD, BUT IF A CHILD OR SMALLER PERSON WOULD HAVE BEEN UNDERNEATH, IT COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY DUE TO THE LARGE WEIGHT OF THE DOOR. DRIVER'S POWER SEAT STOPPED OPERATING PROPERLY. TOOK VEHICLE TO DON JOSEPH TOYOTA, KENT OHIO. THEY ADVISED THAT THE SEAT FRAME/MOTOR ASSEMBLY, PART NUMBER 71120-AE100, WAS DEFECTIVE AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. SERVICE MANAGER FURTHER ADVISED THAT THE ITEM APPEARED TO BE A RESULT OF FAULTY ENGINEERING, BUT TOYOTA HAS YET TO ISSUE A RECALL. SERVICE MANAGER FURTHER ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE OPERATED SAFELY IN ITS CURRENT CONDITION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN SHE WAS DRIVING OVER ROUGH SURFACES, BUMPS OR POTHOLES AND TRYING TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL, SHE NOTICED A GRINDING SOUND AND THE BRAKE WOULD NOT SEEM TO ENGAGE IMMEDIATELY. SHE STATED THAT THE CONDITION SEEMED TO EXIST ON EXTREMELY BUMPY ROADS. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP 3-4 TIMES AND THE BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED AND ROTORS WERE RESURFACED. HOWEVER, THE ISSUE WAS STILL PRESENT AFTER THE REPAIRS. SHE HAD NOT SPOKEN WITH THE MANUFACTURER TO-DATE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 76,500. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 43,000.
1) WE HAD BEEN ON VACATION FOR A WEEK AND A HALF, DURING WHICH TIME OUR MINIVAN SAT IN OUR GARAGE. THE FIRST DAY AFTER RETURNING, I TOOK THE KIDS TO A GROCERY STORE AND USED THE POWER SLIDING DOOR BUTTON TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOORS. WHEN TRYING TO LOCK THE DOORS, I NOTICED THAT ONE POWER SLIDING DOOR WOULD NOT LOCK - IT SLID BACK BUT WOULD NOT LATCH. I TRIED PUSHING IT IN BUT IT WAS NOT WORKING. NOTHING WAS JAMMED IN IT EITHER. THIS HAD NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE. 2) SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING, THE POWER SLIDING DOOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WAS NOT LATCHING. I HAD TO GET MYSELF AND THE KIDS HOME FROM THE GROCERY STORE, BUT THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY SHOWED ME THAT A DOOR WAS UNLOCKED AND THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO TO LOCK IT. I STARTED DRIVING SLOWLY BUT UPON THE SLOWEST OF TURNS IN THE PARKING LOT, THE DOOR WOULD START SLIDING OPEN. MY 7 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS TRYING TO REACH OVER TO KEEP IT SHUT! IN ORDER TO DRIVE TO GET IT REPAIRED, I HAD TO TIE THE DOOR TO AN INSIDE HANDLE AND DRIVE SLOWLY IN ORDER TO KEEP THE DOOR FROM OPENING. THE CONSEQUENCES OF THIS FAILURE: SAFETY ISSUE!!! THIS FAILED WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THIS IS ON A MINIVAN, WHERE CHILDREN ARE SITTING. EVEN THOUGH MY CHILDREN ALWAYS HAVE THEIR SEAT BELTS ON, IT WAS STILL SCARY FOR THEM AND I'M VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR, WHICH DID NOT FAIL AND THUS WAS NOT REPAIRED. HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN ON SUCH AN IMPORTANT PART, ON A RELATIVELY NEW CAR? 3) I CALLED OUR TOYOTA DEALER TO SCHEDULE A SERVICE APPT. THE CAUSE WAS FOUND TO BE "ACTUATORS BINDING INTERNALLY" IN THE DOOR. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE SLIDING DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY. THIS IS A 2005 MODEL YEAR CAR WITH 39K MILES ON IT, THEREFORE JUST PAST THE WARRANTY PERIOD. I SEE THIS AS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE - WHAT IF THIS LOCK FAILED WITHOUT WARNING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE DOOR FLEW OPEN? *TR
THE REAR TRUNK STRUTS DO NOT HOLD THE DOOR OPEN. DOOR CLOSES ITSELF WITHOUT ANY WARNING. MAY HURT SOMEONE WHILE ACCESSING THE TRUNK. *TR
AUTOMATIC SLIDING SIDE DOORS STOPPED WORKING. *TR
I PURCHASED FOUR GOODYEAR TIRES 215/65R16 FROM JUSTTIRES IN MAR 07. WITHIN A FEW DAYS, THERE WERE THREE VALVE STEM ISSUES (LEAKING) ON THREE DIFFERENT TIRES. ABOUT 3 MO LATER, THERE WAS A FOURTH INCIDENT. JUSTTIRES SEEMS TO KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, AS THEY SHOWED NO SURPRISE AND REPAIRED IT IMMEDIATELY. ALTHOUGH THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT OR SUCH, THERE ANCILLARY PROBLEMS RESULTING IN MY LOSING A FULL DAY OF PERSONAL WORK (I AM A RESEARCH SCIENTIST). THE COST OF REPAIRS WAS COVERED BY JUSTTIRES, BUT NOT MY LOST TIME. I BRING THIS UP AS THERE WAS AN ISSUE IN CHINESE MADE VALVE STEM IN FORD VEHICLES TIRES POSED IN TODAY'S AOL. COULD THIS BE A SIMILAR PROBLEM? *TR
LOCKING MECHANISM ON PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR FAILED. DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD WAS CRACKED AND THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE FAILURE COULD RESULT IN THE AIR BAG DEPLOYING PREMATURELY. THE DEALER DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER CONFIRMED WHAT THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT AND OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 125,927 AND THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000. UPDATED 12/01/11 *BF UPDATED 12/12/11
2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. LIFTGATE WILL NOT STAY OPEN OR CLOSED USING THE REMOTE. STRUTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED (TWICE) BY THE DEALER. THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. THEY DID EXTEND THE WARRANTY TO DEAL WITH THIS KIND OF PROBLEM, BUT WILL ONLY FIX IT IF THE STRUT WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. THEY "THINK" IT MAY BE THE MOTOR, BUT REALLY DON'T KNOW. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. WHENEVER THE CONTACT OPENS THE REAR LIFTGATE, IT WILL AUTOMATICALLY CLOSE BACK. THE LIFTGATE WILL ALSO CLOSE REGARDLESS IF AN OBJECT OR THE CONTACT IS ATTEMPTING TO KEEP IT OPEN. THERE HAVE BEEN NO INJURIES DUE TO THE FAILURE. ALSO, WHENEVER SNOW FALLS FROM THE ROOF RACK ONTO THE WINDSHIELD, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO REMOVE THE SNOW FROM THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT'S VISION IS HINDERED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 42,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000.
MANUAL LIFTGATE ON 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA WILL NOT STAY OPEN. DOOR IS HEAVY ENOUGH TO CRUSH CHILD. THE VAN IS CURRENTLY OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE DEALER WANTS $600 TO REPLACE THE LIFTGATE PISTONS. *TR

IN ORDER TO PREVENT THE DOOR FROM CLOSING, THE CONTACT HAD TO HOLD IT OPEN MANUALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THE DOOR HINGE MAY HAVE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WERE 65,000.
THE POWER REAR DOOR LIFTS NORMALLY AND THEN IMMEDIATELY GOES DOWN SUDDENLY, IF SOME IS PUTTING SOMETHING IN THE CARGO AREA, THE DOOR WILL HIT THE PERSON ON THE BACK OR HEAD. AS RESISTANCE IS APPLIED TO THE DOOR COMING DOWN, IT WILL START LIFTING AGAIN AND CONTINUE THE SAME PATTERN. *TR
THIS WINTER I NOTICED A HISSING SOUND COMING FROM ONE OF THE STRUTS THAT LIFTS THE HATCH TO MY 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. THEN, SEVERAL DAYS LATER, THE HATCH OPENED AND THEN SLAMMED DOWN ON MY HEAD AND CONTINUED TO DROP. FROM THEN ON, THE HATCH OPENS WHEN THE BUTTON IS PUSHED BUT DOES NOT STAY OPEN ON ITS OWN, BUT INSTEAD DROPS ON THE HEAD OF ANYONE IN THE WAY. VERY DANGEROUS. THE HATCH IS CRUSHINGLY HEAVY. VAN IS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD, BUT OUT OF WARRANTY BECAUSE IT'S PAST MILEAGE CUT OFF. IS A HATCH EVEN AFFECTED BY MILEAGE?! TOYOTA REPAIR COSTS ABOUT $600!! THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND HAS HAPPENED TO MANY TOYOTA SIENNAS. TOYOTA SHOULD STEP UP AND RECALL! *TR
FRONT SEAT BELTS. BOTH DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE, PASSENGER SIDE MORE FREQUENT. DURING RETRACT BELT FOLDS ON ITSELF AND THEN GETS JAMMED. VERY DIFFICULT TO CLEAR. MULTIPLE TIMES WE HAVE BEEN FORCED TO MOVE RIDER TO BACK SEAT OR FORE-GO USE OF SEAT BELT. DEALER HAS FIXED TWO TIMES AND CLAIMS THERE IS NO CLASS PROBLEM, WILL NOT FIX AGAIN. DEALER CLAIMS WE MUST BE DOING SOMETHING WRONG, WE HAVE BEEN USING CARS FOR THIRTY YEARS WITHOUT THIS ISSUE. *TR
LEFT, REAR MANUAL DOOR WILL NOT OPEN RIGHT REAR POWER DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE TOYOTA SERVICE SAID ALL LATCHES ARE BAD, AND NEED TO BE REPLACED THEY WANT TO CHARGE US $3,800.00 TO REPAIR THE LATCHES THEY CLAIM THAT THE LATCHES ARE NOT DEFECTIVE. *TR

THE PASSENGER DOOR MADE A LOUD NOISE AND WOULD NOT LOCK MANUALLY OR AUTOMATICALLY AND THE DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR CABLE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO PERFORM A DIAGNOSTIC BECAUSE THE DOORS HAD TO BE REMOVED IN ORDER TO LOCATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH IN HEAVY RAIN, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO CHANGE LANES TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY. SHE LOST CONTROL OF HER VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A TRACTOR TRAILER. THE VEHICLE SPUN OFF OF THE TRACTOR AND TRAVELED BACK TO THE LEFT OF THE HIGHWAY. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE POLICE AND EMS WERE CALLED TO THE SCENE, AND THE CONTACT WAS THE ONLY PERSON TRANSPORTED TO A LOCAL AREA HOSPITAL FOR MINOR TO MODERATE CUTS, BRUISES, NECK, AND BACK PAIN. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT'S CHILD WAS SEATED IN A BOOSTER SEAT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. HE LEANED FORWARD IN THE REAR SEAT AND THE LAP STRAP OF THE SEAT BELT WRAPPED AROUND HIS LOWER STOMACH AREA. THE CHILD SUSTAINED MINOR CUTS ON HIS STOMACH. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO RELEASE THE SEAT BELT, BUT THE RETRACTOR WOULD CONTINUALLY TIGHTEN, INSTEAD OF LOOSENING. SHE HAD TO CUT THE SEAT BELT STRAPS IN ORDER TO RELEASE HER CHILD. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 44,279.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVERS SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE DOORS BECAME STUCK. THE DOOR WAS REPAIRED TWICE BY THE DEALER. THE DOOR IS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED AGAIN BY THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN CONTACTED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
REAR BACK DOOR OF MY TOYOTA SIENNA CLOSES ON ITS OWN AND HAD SLAMMED ON MY BACK. *TR
AFTER 2 VISITS TO AN ATLANTA-AREA TOYOTA DEALER IN RESPONSE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN 05V-327(50L), THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE MIDDLE ROW PASSENGER SEAT BELT CONTINUES TO BIND IN THE NEW BEZEL, AND ANY PASSENGER USING THE SEAT BELT IS NOT PROPERLY RESTRAINED. AFTER SPEAKING WITH TOYOTA CORPORATE ABOUT THE PROBLEM IN 2007, THEY WERE UNWILLING TO TAKE FURTHER ACTION ON THE ISSUE. THE BELT HAS BOUND IN THE BEZEL 50 OR MORE TIMES SINCE THEN. *TR

INSTALLATION ISSUES REGARDING EVENFLO GENERATIONS COMBINATION SEAT, MODEL 3522607 L1, MANUFACTURED IN MARCH 5, 2008. 1) LATCH ASSEMBLY IS ATTACHED TO THE BOOSTER SEAT WITH A PLASTIC PEG AND A STRAP WHICH IS SEW ONTO THE LATCH BELT. THIS ASSEMBLY PREVENTS THE LATCH BELT FROM BEING FULLY TIGHTENED ON ONE SIDE AND IN TURN PREVENTS THE SEAT FROM BEING PROPERLY INSTALLED. 2) LATCH BUCKLE SIZE PREVENTS LATCH BELT FROM BEING TIGHTENED AND LEADS TO BINDING OF THE LATCH BELT AS IT IS TIGHTENED. 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA XLE LIMITED, AWD, VIN [XXX], TIRE PRESSURE WARNING SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK, AND NEVER HAS WORKED PROPERLY. IT MOST RECENTLY FAILED ON MARCH 28, 2008, WHERE THE RIGHT REAR TIRE HAD ZERO AIR PRESSURE. THIS WAS A BRAND NEW RUN FLAT TIRE WHICH WENT FLAT IMMEDIATELY AFTER INSTALLATION. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN 31MILES AND THE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. DUE TO THIS FAULTY WARNING SYSTEM, A BRAND NEW $250.00+ TIRE WAS DESTROYED, REQUIRING REPLACEMENT. THIS SYSTEM HAS FAILED NUMEROUS TIMES PRIOR TO THE ABOVE-MENTIONED INCIDENT. SINCE PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE, I HAVE LEARNED THAT THIS TIRE PRESSURE WARNING SYSTEM DOES NOT MONITOR THE TIRE PRESSURE AT ALL; THAT IT ONLY MONITORS THE WHEEL SPEED, AND IT IS EXTREMELY INACCURATE AT THAT. I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT TOYOTA HAD BEEN AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM FOR YEARS AND YET STILL FRAUDULENTLY MARKETED THIS SYSTEM AS VIABLE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING SYSTEM ON THE 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. AS A DISABLED PERSON, THIS TIRE PRESSURE WARNING SYSTEM WAS THE DECIDING FACTOR IN MY BUYING THE 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. I HAVE A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. I HAVE APPROXIMATELY 50,000 MILES ON THE VAN. THE PASSENGER SIDE ELECTRIC SLIDING DOOR BEGAN TO HAVE TROUBLE CLOSING. YOU CAN CLOSE IT MANUALLY, BUT THE MOTOR WAS NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO CLOSE THE DOOR COMPLETELY. I MADE ARRANGEMENTS TO HAVE THE PROBLEM CHECKED AT MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WAS REPLACED TO CORRECT THE DEFECT. THE FAILURE PERSISTED AFTER THE REPLACEMENT OF THE SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY INFORMED THAT THE ENTIRE SRS AIR BAG SYSTEM WOULD NEED TO BE REWIRED. ALSO, THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT THE ENTIRE AIR BAGS IN THE VEHICLE WERE INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE FAILURE WAS APPROXIMATELY 37,000.
STEERING BECOMES STIFF AND MAKES IT HARD TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE DRIVING. THE STEERING KNUCKLE OUTSIDE OF THE FIRE WALL IS EXPOSED TO THE ELEMENTS AND BECOMES STIFF AND REQUIRES FREQUENT LUBRICATION TO MAINTAIN THE FUNCTION OF THE POWER STEERING. THIS IS A CONCERN WE HAVE DEALT WITH FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS AND WE HAVE RECENTLY BECOME AWARE THAT IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VAN.

I AM HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE SIDE POWER SLIDING DOORS. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TWICE AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. SERVICE BULLETIN WAS PERFORMED ON A RATTLE. DEALER ALWAYS TELLS ME THAT THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM- BUT THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE WHEN I GET HOME! THE SLIDING BACK DOORS OPEN BUT WILL NOT SHUT ONCE PUSHING ANY BUTTON AND I HAVE TO DO IT MANUALLY, MEANING THAT I WOULD HAVE TO HIT THE REMOTE A COUPLE OF TIMES TO GET IT TO OPEN. BOTH SLIDING DOORS STUCK CLOSED. THEY WOULD NOT WORK WITH THE BUTTON ARE MANUALLY. AT TIMES I CAN'T OPEN IT USING EITHER INSIDE OR OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE, NOR HAS JIGGLING THE DOOR LOCK. LIFT GATE UNEXPECTEDLY CLOSED WHILE STANDING AT THE BACK OF THE VAN. AT ONE TIME THE REAR DOOR LIGHT ON THE DASH STAYED ON WHEN THE DOOR WAS CLOSED. I PUSHED THE BUTTON ON THE B-PILLAR AND THE REMOTE INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND THE DOOR DID NOT OPEN. I MANUALLY CLOSED THE REAR DOOR AND THE LIGHT WAS STILL ON. EVENTUALLY THE LIGHT WHEN OFF THE AUTOMATIC CONTROL WORKED. ONE TIME THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR STARTS TO OPEN WHEN I TRY TO OPEN IT USING EITHER BUTTON ON B-PILLAR OR REMOTE. IT STARTS MOVING BUT ONLY MOVES MAY BE ABOUT 2-3MM - THAT'S RIGHTS, ABOUT 1/12 OF AN INCH. I CAN HEAR THE MOTOR WORKING FINE, AND NO SOUND IS DIFFERENT FROM THE SOUND THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR MAKES WHEN OPENING OR CLOSING (PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WORKS FINE). NOW, WHEN I TRY TO OPEN DRIVER SIDE DOOR USING THE DOOR HANDLE, NOTHING HAPPENS NO MOTOR ACTIVATION, NO NOTHING. THE DOOR HAS EVEN CLOSED ON IT OWN WHEN MY WIFE WAS GETTING OUT OF IT AND I CAN OPERATE THE VEHICLE WITH THE SIDE DOOR OPEN. *TR
