TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STRUTS FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: (STRUCTURE: BODY: HATCHBACK/LIFT GATE) ON SEPTEMBER 17, 2008. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE REPAIR WOULD NOT BE COVERED AGAIN. THE CONTACT WANTED TO STATE THAT THE RECALL REPAIR FAILED WITHIN THREE YEARS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THE FRONT DRIVER AIRBAG LIGHT SHOWED UP ON THE DASHBOARD AND BEGAN TO BLINK ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO. TOOK THE VAN INTO A TOYOTA DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT. SENSORS NEED TO BE REPLACED FOR $700! AFTER RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET, IT APPEARS THAT THE 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA'S HAS HAD NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FOR THE AIRBAG DEFECTS. I'M THINKING TOYOTA NEEDS TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS SAFETY DEFECT AND ISSUE A RECALL FOR THE AIRBAGS TO BE REPAIRED/REPLACED. MANY CONSUMERS ARE DRIVING THE 2006 SIENNA'S WITH FAULTY AIRBAGS SINCE IT IS TOO EXPENSIVE TO FIX WHICH IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SOMEONE NEEDS TO BE CONCERNED ABOUT AND ADDRESS WITH TOYOTA!
STEERING OIL LEAK ON PASSENGER SIDE FOUND DURING ROUTINE OIL CHANGE. *TR
THE POWER DOOR GOT STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION THUS LOCKING THE TRANSMISSION AND MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE. LUCKILY THIS HAPPENED WHEN PARKED IN A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD AND NOT ALONG AN INTERSTATE OR BUSY CITY ROAD. *TR
AIR BAG LIGHT TURNED ON AT 78,080 MILES. TOOK IT TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG AND FLOOR HARNESS NEEDED REPLACEMENT. REPAIR WAS QUOTED AT AROUND $1500.00. AFTER DISCUSSIONS WITH DEALER AND TRYING TO GET AN EXPLANATION AS TO WHY AN AIR BAG WOULD NEED REPLACEMENT WITH JUST NORMAL OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE, MY DEALER WAS ABLE TO GET THE PARTS COVERED BY TOYOTA AND I PAID FOR LABOR $861.00. IN JANUARY 2013, THE AIR BAG LIGHT TURNED ON AGAIN AT 84,132 MILES. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG NEEDED REPLACEMENT AND THE HARNESS COULD BE FIXED. MY DEALERSHIP OFFERED ME THE SAME DEAL AS TOYOTA WOULD PAY FOR THE PARTS AND ME THE LABOR $796.00. I HAD MY CAR FIXED BECAUSE I DID NOT WANT TO COMPROMISE MY AND MY FAMILY SAFETY BUT HAD EVERY INTENTION BY THEN TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH TOYOTA WHICH I DID ON JANUARY 24, 2013. I TOLD THEM I SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY OF THE COSTS OF THE REPAIRS; FAULTY AIR BAGS SHOULD BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE MANUFACTURER. I ALSO TOLD THEM I DID NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THOSE AIR BAGS AFTER EVERYTHING I READ ONLINE. TOYOTA RESEARCHED MY CASE, TALKED WITH MY DEALERSHIP AND AFTER 3-4 CONVERSATIONS IN ABOUT 1 WEEK PERIOD, MY CLAIM WAS DENIED. THEY TOOK NO RESPONSIBILITY, REMINDED ME THAT THEY HAD ALREADY PROVIDED THE PARTS (BECAUSE I WAS A GOOD CUSTOMER AT MY DEALERSHIP) AND OFFERED ME $500.00 TOWARDS MY NEXT CAR PURCHASE SHOULD I BE IN THE MARKET FOR A NEW CAR IN THE NEXT ONE TO TWO YEARS! FUNNY!! AS THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER TOYOTA IN MY DRIVEWAY. *TR
MY WIFE AND I GOT INTO OUR VAN ON THE 19 OF MAY AND WHEN WE STARTED THE VAN THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE TOYOTA GARAGE I WAS TOLD I WOULD NEED A NEW PASSENGER AIRBAG AND TWO WIRING HARNESSES FOR THE VAN AT A COST OF $1200. I FELT THIS WAS A SAFETY DEFECT FROM TOYOTA AND HAVE CONTACTED TOYOTA CUSTOMER RELATIONS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM. AS OF YET IT HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED AND IS UNDER REVIEW ACCORDING TO THE LAST EMAIL I RECEIVED FROM THEM. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THE WEB ABOUT THIS SAME AIRBAG ISSUE AND I AS WELL AS OTHER CUSTOMERS FEELS THAT THIS IS A DEFECT THAT TOYOTA SHOULD FIX BEFORE PEOPLE ARE KILLED DUE TO FAULTY AIRBAGS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THE FRONT INTERIOR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WELD FRACTURED WHICH CAUSED A LOUD CLICKING NOISE WHENEVER ACCESSING THE DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO INFORMED THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE MALFUNCTION WAS RELATED TO MANUFACTURERS DESIGN DEFECT. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT HAS TURNED ON. *JS
DURING STATE VEHICLE INSPECTION TECH FOUND POWER STEERING RACK LEAKING (PASSENGER SIDE SEAL). ALL FLUID WAS INSIDE BOOT - NO EXTERNAL LEAK. WE HAVE BEEN TOYOTA CUSTOMERS FOR 25 PLUS YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD A MAJOR FAILURE EVEN WITH 100,000 PLUS MILES. GUESS I EXPECTED MORE FROM TOYOTA. SEEMS TO ME 60,000 MILES IS A LITTLE SOON FOR A MAJOR FAILURE OF THIS TYPE. DEALERSHIP DOES A FINE JOB AND I AM GRATEFUL THEY FOUND AND FIXED DEFECT. JUST WANTED TO GET THIS INFORMATION ON DATABASE IN CASE THERE IS A HIGH FREQUENCY OF THIS TYPE OF REPAIR IN 2006 TOYOTA SIENNAS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG SYSTEM SHORTED OUT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND WOULD GET BACK IN TOUCH WITH THE CONTACT AT A LATER DATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 76,926.

THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE AIR BAG AND AIR BAG HARNESS ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED BUT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,500.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT WARNING OF MY 2006 SIENNA (ONLY 45,000 MILES) STARTED BLINKING AND DIDN'T STOP. ACCORDING TO DEALER WHO RUN A DIAGNOSTIC (OPEN CIRCUIT B0111 OPEN SQUIB) THE CIRCUIT WIRING HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. TOTAL COST OVER $2,000. I USED MY INSURANCE AND HAD IT FIXED. THE CAR STAYED IN THE DEALER FOR A WHOLE MONTH SINCE ACCORDING TO THEM THE PART WAS BEING ORDERED DIRECTLY FROM TOYOTA AND IT WAS COMING FROM JAPAN. THE PROBLEM RECURRED THE VERY NEXT DAY AFTER I TOOK THE CAR FROM THE DEALER AFTER FIXED. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT ACCORDING TO TOYOTA SERVICE BULLETIN A KIT NEEDS TO BE INSTALLED AT THE HARNESS LOCATED UNDER THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AND THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE TOTAL COST WILL BE ANOTHER $1,000. I WAS ADVISED TO CONTACT TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE TO LEARN WHAT TOYOTA COULD DO SINCE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE CAUSED BY A FAULTY ELECTRICAL COMPONENT FROM MANUFACTURING. I DON'T BELIEVE MY INSURANCE WILL COVER FOR THIS EXTRA COST. CHECKING ONLINE I NOTICED THAT HUNDREDS OF OTHER 2006 SIENNAS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. I BELIEVE TOYOTA SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS PARTICULAR MODEL AND FIX IT. I WAS A HAPPY AND SATISFIED TOYOTA CUSTOMER UNTIL NOW AND DEPENDING ON THE OUTCOME OF MY CALL TO TOYOTA I MIGHT NOT CONSIDER TOYOTA IN MY NEXT CAR PURCHASE, UNFORTUNATELY. *TR
WHEN WE TRIED TO CLOSE THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE POWER SLIDING REAR DOOR THIS AFTERNOON, IN THE SUPERMARKET PARKING LOT (WE HAD OUR 2 YOUNG CHILDREN WITH US), IT BEGAN TO CLOSE, THEN OPENED, AND THEN WE COULDN'T CLOSE THE DOOR, EITHER BY USING THE AUTOMATIC/POWER OPTIONS OR BY CLOSING THE DOOR MANUALLY. AFTER 15 MINUTES OR SO, WE FINALLY DID MANAGE TO GET IT CLOSED BY ROCKING THE DOOR BACK-AND-FORTH, BUT WE CANNOT -- AND WILL NOT -- USE THE DOOR AT ALL NOW, AS WE ARE AFRAID THAT WE WON'T BE ABLE TO CLOSE IT AGAIN. PRIOR TO TODAY, WE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH THE DOOR, AND WE TAKE VERY GOOD CARE OF OUR CAR. WE BOUGHT THE MINIVAN FOR THE SPECIFIC PURPOSE OF TRANSPORTING US AND OUR YOUNG CHILDREN. NOW WE ARE VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF DRIVING THE CAR, ESPECIALLY WITH OUR KIDS IN IT. AFTER READING THE MANY OTHER ALMOST EXACT PROBLEMS/COMPLAINTS, WE'RE HOPING THAT TOYOTA ISSUES A RECALL -- HAVING A DOOR THAT DOESN'T OPEN OR CLOSE, IS A CLEAR AND SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, AND IT SEEMS TO BE AN EXTREMELY COMMON PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED TO 100 MPH. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL HAD BECOME STUCK AND WOULD NOT RELEASE. THE CONTACT HAD TO REACH DOWN UNDER THE STEERING WHEEL AND RELEASE THE LODGED ACCELERATOR PEDAL, WHILE CONTINUING TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO INSPECTED THE VEHICLE FOR TEN DAYS BUT WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE A FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS THEN NOTIFIED AND A COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER SENT AN INVESTIGATOR TO FURTHER INSPECT THE FAILURE HOWEVER, WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE A FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
PULLED CODE B0111 OPEN SIDE SQUIB (RH) CIRCUIT MUST REPLACE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR HARNESS AND PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG ASSEMBLY. *TR
WE WERE STOPPED WHEN WE TRIED TO OPEN THE PASSENGER SLIDING ELECTRICAL DOOR. IT OPENED ABOUT 8 INCHES AND THEN IT WOULD NOT OPEN OR CLOSE. NO MATTER HOW HARD WE TRIED WE COULD NOT GET THE DOOR TO OPEN OR CLOSE. EVEN THE MANUAL OVERRIDE WOULD NOT WORK. WE WERE OUT OF TOWN AND MY HUSBAND HAD TO SIT BY THE DOOR AS WE DROVE HOME 40 MILES. THE TOYOTA SERVICE WAS NOT OPEN AND WE HAD NO WAY TO GET OUR FAMILY 0F 7 HOME OR ANYWHERE. IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. *TR

TIRES SOLD BY MONRO SHOP # 190 IN CHRISTIANBURG, VA. SAME TIRE BRAND, MODEL AND SIZE REPLACED AT SHOP #349 IN CHESHIRE, CT AT COST OF ROAD HAZARD COVERAGE CONTRACT AT COST OF $87. 80 TO COVER ALL FOUR TIRES. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT THE OTHER TWO TIRES PURCHASED AT THE SAME TIME WITH THE SAME DOT DESIGNATIONS MAY ALSO DEVELOP SIDEWALL BULGES AND BE THE CAUSE OF A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. IS THERE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT ON THIS TIRE THAT SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO? *TR
AIRBAG LIGHT INDICATOR IN THE DASH STARTED BLINKING UNTIL NOW. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ, SOME AIRBAGS MAY NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS, THUS, A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE READ IN THE FORUMS THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THE TYPE/MODEL OF MY MINIVAN. MY MINIVAN IS ALREADY OUT OF THE WARRANTY AND PERSONALLY THINK THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR AN INSPECTION. THE SERVICE ADVISOR, INFORMED THE CONSUMER IT WOULD COST $ 3,985 TO REPAIR THE AIR BAG ISSUE, BUT STATED IT WAS A SEAT BELT ISSUE THAT REQUIRED A FLOOR WIRING HARNESS WHICH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 45 TO 50 MPH WHEN THE AIR BAG SRS WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED REPEATEDLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE SQUID MODULE AND HARNESS FOR PASSENGER AIR BAGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 44,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
THE REAR HATCH ON MY 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA FAILS TO STAY UP. THE HATCH DIDN'T STAY OPEN AND I WAS HIT ON THE HEAD AND ALMOST STUCK WITH THE HATCH ONTOP OF ME. I TOOK THE MINIVAN IN TO GET IT FIXED BUT WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT SEEING AS THE RECALL DID NOT COVER MY MANUAL HATCH. I FAIL TO UNDERSTAND HOW IF THERE WAS A RECALL IT WOULD ONLY BE FOR AN AUTOMATIC HATCH .... IF THE STRUTS FAIL FOR AUTOMATIC HATCHES, THEN WOULDN'T THEY FAIL FOR MANUAL HATCHES??? I'M VERY UPSET THAT THE NTSB WOULDN'T HAVE MADE TOYOTA INCLUDE ALL MODELS NOT JUST AUTOMATIC HATCHES. *TR
PASSENGER DOOR THE ELECTRONICS JUST STOPPED WORKING. I'VE BEEN TOLD I CAN USE THIS MANUAL RIGHT NOW BUT EVENTUALLY WILL SEIZE UP BY THE DEALERSHIP. VERY COSTLY PART. RESEARCHING ON LINE THERE ARE MANY OWNERS OF THIS VAN WITH THE SAME ISSUE. NO VOLUNTARY RECALL ON THIS PART. I FIND THIS A SAFETY HAZARD AS YOU DO NOT KNOW WHEN THE DOOR MAY CEASE TO OPEN. IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT ON OPPOSITE SIDE OF VAN AND DOOR WILL NOT OPEN AND THE PASSENGER SIDE NO LONGER WORKS, PEOPLE IN THE BACK OF THE VAN WILL BE TRAPPED. NOT SURE WHY TOYOTA HAS NOT HAD A RECALL ON THIS PART. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOOR FAILED. THE CONTACT TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE BUT HAD COMPLICATIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE MOTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED OR TO SEVER THE CABLES. THE DEALER SEVERED THE CABLES AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE DOOR COULD BE USED MANUALLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER THE CABLES WERE SEVERED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,723.
THE POWER SLIDING DOOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WOULD NOT CLOSE; ITS CABLES HELD THE DOOR IN THE OPEN POSITION. I WAS UNABLE TO MAKE THE DOOR OPERATE MANUALLY WITH THE FRAYED AND JAMMED CABLES. THE CAR COULD NOT BE OPERATED SAFELY WITHOUT THE DOOR PROPERLY CLOSED. *TR
ON FEBRUARY 25, 2012, THE PASSENGER SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR ON MY 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA WOULD NOT CLOSE UNLESS I APPLIED FORCE. FOR MONTHS THIS ISSUE DID NOT RESOLVE AND BECAME WORSE TO THE POINT WHERE WE COULD NO LONGER USE THE DOOR. THIS BECAME A SAFETY ISSUE AS MY THREE YOUNG CHILDREN COULD ONLY EXIT THROUGH THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR INTO THE STREET SIDE. THIS PUT MY CHILDREN AND ME IN DANGER OF BEING HIT BY PASSING MOTORISTS. FURTHERMORE, IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY, THIS EXIT POINT WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE TO US. AFTER RECEIVING THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT NOTICE WE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR IN JULY 2012, BUT WERE INFORMED THE PART NEEDING REPLACEMENT, IDENTIFIED AS "R/SLIDING DOOR REAR SUPPORT LATCH AND CABLE ASSY" WAS NOT COVERED EVEN THOUGH THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT NOTICE CLEARLY STATED "REAR SLIDING DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLIES" AND "POWER SLIDING DOOR CABLE ASSEMBLY" WERE COVERED. I WAS TOLD THE PART NUMBERS DID NOT MATCH. IN JULY 2013, I OPENED A CASE WITH TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY AGAIN INFORMED ME THE PARTS WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER THE ENHANCEMENT WARRANTY. I EXPRESSED MY COMPLETE DISAPPOINTMENT FOR THE LACK OF REGARD FOR MY FAMILY'S SAFETY. SHORTLY AFTER, I RECEIVED A SURPRISING CALL FROM THE DEALERSHIP EXPLAINING THAT THE PART IN QUESTION WAS ACTUALLY COVERED. THEIR ERROR WAS UPSETTING. I HAD TO TAKE MY VEHICLE IN TWICE TO FINALLY HAVE THE DOOR REPAIRED AND HAD TO PAY FOR AN ADDITIONAL PART, A HINGE THAT CAUSED THE DOOR TO SAG AND DRAG AGAINST THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE WHICH CONTRIBUTED TO THE SAFETY ISSUE AND ALSO CAUSED VISIBLE DAMAGE TO THE EXTERIOR. I'M THANKFUL THE DOOR IS FINALLY REPAIRED, BUT WORRY THAT THIS ISSUE HAS GREAT POTENTIAL FOR RECURRENCE. I HOPE THE NHTSA INVESTIGATES THE DOORS AS I SEE MANY OTHERS HAVE VOICED SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. ALTHOUGH THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT HAS BEEN TOYOTA'S SOLUTION, IT DOES NOT SEEM TO BE FIXING THE PROBLEM. *TR
SIENNA 200-2006 HAS THREE MAJOR PROBLEMS: 1) THE DOOR CHECK MOUNT CRACKS (SO AS FOR THE WELDED PARTS INSIDE THE DOOR TO CRACK FROM EACH OTHER BY ITSELF). 2) FROM TIME TO TIME THE AIRBAG LIGHT KEEP BLINKING, AND UPON INVESTIGATION, THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAG SOCKET THAT CAN DISCONNECT ANYTIME UPON CHANGING THE POSITION OF THE DRIVER SEAT. 3) THE PAINT OF THE BODY FADES FAST (AS FOR A 6 YEARS OLD GARAGE KEPT CAR THE PAINT TO FADE, IS SOMETHING UNIQUE). *TR
THE SRS LIGHT STARTED BLINKING "ON" WHEN DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH. THE LIGHT REMAINED BLINKING FOR A FEW DAYS THEN THE BLINKING STOPPED. THE BLINKING BEGAN AGAIN AFTER A WEEK. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO A TOYOTA DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM. THEY SAID THAT TOYOTA HAS A BULLETIN OUT ON IT: TSB-0162-10 "SRS LIGHT "ON" - B0111/B0116 - OPEN SIDE SQUIB CIRCUIT THE REPAIR AT THE DEALER WAS QUOTED AT $3682.22. I FELT THIS WAS UNREASONABLE THAT TOYOTA KNEW ABOUT THIS SAFETY ISSUE AND OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM BUT IT WAS NOT DEEMED A "RECALL". I CONTACTED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-331-4331 AND SPOKE WITH A REPRESENTATIVE. I VOICED MY CONCERN AND THEY MADE A CASE NUMBER: 1203051801. THEY ADMITTED THAT THERE WAS A BULLETIN OUT ON THE ISSUE BUT THAT IT WAS NOT A RECALL. I WAS VERY UPSET BECAUSE WE DID NOT CAUSE THIS DEFECT AND IT PUTS OUR FAMILY OF 5 AT GREAT RISK! WE CANNOT AFFORD TO HAVE THIS DEFECT FIXED AT THIS TIME AND FEEL THAT TOYOTA SHOULD OWN UP TO THIS PROBLEM THAT IS AFFECTING MANY AND PUTTING FAMILY'S AT GREAT RISK! WE PURCHASED THE VAN NEW WITH WORKING AIR BAGS - THEY HAVE NEVER BE DEPLOYED, AND WE HAVE NEVER DONE ANYTHING TO ACCESS OR MODIFY THEIR WORKABILITY SO THIS SHOULD NOT BE OUR PROBLEM. HIGHWAY SAFETY REQUIRES AIR BAGS IN ALL VEHICLES AND SHOULD HOLD TOYOTA ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS DEFECT. *JB
THE SLIDING DOOR ON MY MINI-VAN ONLY OPENS HALF-WAY AND THEN CLOSES WITHOUT WARNING. I RECENTLY HAD MY AIRBAG LIGHT FLASHING ON MY DASH AND THE DEALERSHIP SAID BOTH RH AND LH AIR BAG WIRING HARNESSES WITH SENSORS WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE COST TO FIX $5335. I RECENTLY HAD MY POWER SLIDING DOOR GO OUT. THE DOOR OPENED BUT WOULD NOT CLOSE. THE COST TO FIX $1800. *TR
AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON INDICATING A FAILURE IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG. THE AIR BAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH DUE TO A FAULTY WIRE HARNESS AS EXPLAINED THE TOYOTA DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH SIENNA MINIVANS, FOR WHICH A TOYOTA SERVICE BULLETIN HAS BEEN ISSUED, BUT THERE HAS NOT BEEN A MODEL RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHENEVER STARTING THE IGNITION, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THEY DETECTED A PROBLEM WITH THE AIR BAG. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
ALL FOUR WHEELS SHOW EXCESSIVE CORROSION. TOYOTA SAYS THIS IS NORMAL AND NOT COVERED BY ANY RECALL OR WARRANTY. CORROSION MAY BE SIMPLY COSMETIC, BUT OUR CONCERN IS THAT IT WILL BECOME STRUCTURAL OVER TIME CAUSING EITHER WHEEL FAILURE OR LOSS OF TIRE PRESSURE. SEE PHOTOS.
POWER SLIDING DOOR WAS JAMMED IN THE OPEN POSITION. BECAUSE IT HAPPENED ON SUNDAY WE NEEDED TO DRIVE HOME WITH THIS DOOR FULLY OPENED. THIS SITUATION WOULD HAVE BEEN EVEN WORST IF OUR CHILDREN WERE WITH US. *TR

THERE ARE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET FOR THIS MODEL AND YEAR. NOT TO MENTION OTHER MODELS BEING RECALLED FOR THE SAME PROBLEM.. THEY ARE NOT DIAGNOSING THE CAUSE BUT TRYING TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE SYSTEM.(WIRING HARNESS, SENSORS AND AIRBAGS) I BELIEVE AN INVESTIGATION AS TO THE FAULTY COMPONENT OR COMPONENTS ARE IN ORDER. ARE THE REPLACEMENT PARTS THEY ARE WANTING TO USE THE SAME AS THEY FAULTY ONES. ARE ANY OF THEY AIRBAG COMPONENTS IN THE SIENNA THE SAME AS THE TOYOTA HIGHLANDER. (SENSORS CHIPS, WIRING HARNESS). THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY ARE USING THE SAME COMPONENTS THAT WERE ORIGINALLY WERE INSTALLED. HAVE READ MULTIPLE FORUM COMPLAINTS OF PEOPLE ON THERE SECOND OR THIRD TOTAL REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE AIRBAG SYSTEM. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT COULD TAKE ONE TO TWO MONTHS TO GET THE PARTS BECAUSE OF NATIONAL SHORTAGE. AGAIN A SHORTAGE, ARE TOO MANY SIENNAS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, OR ARE THE COMPONENTS THAT ARE FAULTY SIMILAR TO THE HIGHLANDER AND ARE BEING USED IN THAT RECALL. *TR
AUTOMATIC POWER SLIDING DOOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE RECENTLY STOPPED WORKING CORRECTLY. THE DOOR MOTOR TRIES TO OPEN THE DOOR BUT OFTEN STOPS AFTER ONLY MOVING AN INCH OR SO. ONCE YOU GET IT TO OPEN (EITHER MANUALLY OR WITH THE POWER OPEN OPTION WHEN IT RANDOMLY WORKS) DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE WHEN BUTTONS ARE PUSHED. THE DOOR AGAIN WILL MOVE 2 INCHES MAXIMUM AND THEN STOP. IF YOU ARE ABLE TO MANUALLY CLOSE THE DOOR (WHICH IS VERY HARD TO DO) IT DOES NOT ALWAYS LATCH COMPLETELY CLOSED. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. IF I CAN NOT OPEN THE DOOR AT SCHOOL TO DROP OFF MY CHILD, WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN IN AN EMERGENCY WHEN I NEED TO GET MY CHILD OUT? I HAVE FOUND HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON MULTIPLE WEB FORUMS, TOYOTA NEEDS TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PART THAT THEY QUOTED ME ALMOST $900 TO FIX. *TR
THE AUTOMATIC REAR PASSENGER DOOR BEGAN TO GRIND WHILE OPENING. AS WE WENT TO CLOSE THE DOOR WITH THE AUTOMATIC FEATURE IT STOPPED WORKING. THE DOOR WAS JAMMED SLIGHTLY OPEN. WE COULD NOT OPEN OR CLOSE THE DOOR EVEN WHEN PUTTING IT INTO MANUAL MODE. UPON INSPECTION MY HUSBAND SAW THAT THE CABLE THAT IS BELOW THE REAR WINDOW WAS SHEARED. HE WAS ABLE TO CUT THIS CABLE AND FREE THE DOOR FROM BEING JAMMED. IT WAS A VERY LONG PAINFUL PROCESS AS WE WERE AWAY FROM HOME AND ONLY HAD ACCESS TO A VERY SMALL DULL KNIFE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. WE HAVE A MINIVAN BECAUSE WE HAVE SEVERAL SMALL CHILDREN. SMALL CHILDREN OFTEN DART IN FRONT OF AUTOMATIC DOORS WITHOUT REALIZING THEY ARE CLOSING. IF THIS DOOR HAD GOTTEN JAMMED WITH ONE OF OUR SMALL CHILDREN CAUGHT IN IT THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN IN GREAT DANGER POSSIBLY LOOSING A LIMB OR HEAVEN FORBID THEIR HEAD WERE CAUGHT BECAUSE THEY TRIPPED GETTING OUT OF THE VAN. I IMPLORE YOU TO MANDATE A RECALL ON THIS VAN IMMEDIATELY FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL THE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF SMALL CHILDREN THAT ENTER AND EXIT THESE VANS EVERY SINGLE DAY! *TR

THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. THE RESULT WAS THAT THE WIRING HARNESS FOR THE SEAT SENSOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE HAS CORRODED CREATING AN OPEN CIRCUIT. THEY GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE TO REPLACE THE WIRING HARNESS AND AIR BAG (WHICH HAS BEEN APPARENTLY DAMAGED DUE TO THE CORRODED HARNESS) TO A TOTAL OF $3,000. WIRING HARNESSES DO NOT CORRODE IN 5 YEARS UNLESS THE PART WAS DEFECTIVE AT INSTALLATION. SINCE THE SRS SYSTEM IS A MAJOR PART OF THE VEHICLE'S SAFETY SYSTEMS AND THE SYSTEM WAS DESIGNED TO OPERATE AS A WHOLE, REPAIR IS MANDATORY IN ORDER TO INSURE OCCUPANT SAFETY. SEARCHING THE INTERNET THERE ARE LITERALLY 100S OF INSTANCES OF THE EXACT SAME ISSUE WITH THE 2006 AND 2007 MODEL YEARS. THE FACT THAT THIS ISSUE IS A FAULT IN THE VEHICLES SAFETY SYSTEM AND THE HIGH INCIDENT OF THIS FAILURE OCCURRING I BELIEVE JUSTIFIES A RECALL FOR REPAIR OF THE SYSTEM BY THE MANUFACTURER. *TR
