TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED INDICATING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE TEST RESULTS DETERMINED THAT THE SIDE AIR BAG WAS DEFECTIVE. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE SIDE AIR BAG AND HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT DID NOT HAVE THE SIDE AIR BAGS OR THE HARNESS REPLACED DUE TO THE DEALER NOT HAVING THE PARTS AVAILABLE TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,929.
BLINKING AIRBAG LIGHT APPEARED RANDOMLY, NO CAUSAL INCIDENT. REPAIR WILL COST OVER $1000. AIRBAG WIRING SHOULD NOT GO BAD ON IT'S OWN AFTER SO FEW YEARS AND SO FEW MILES. *TR
DURING A SAFETY INSPECTION THE MECHANICS HAVE SAID THE STEERING FLUID IS LEAKING. THEY WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE RACK AND PINION STEERING ASSEMBLY. THE COST AVERAGES $1100. THIS IS REPORTED AS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS VEHICLE AND A SAFETY PROBLEM FOR DRIVING. *TR
THE REAR LIFT GATE WILL NOT STAY OPEN CAUSING POTENTIAL FOR INJURY. THERE WAS A SAFETY RECALL IN 2008 AND THE REAR HATCH STRUTS HAD A DESIGN FLAW AND THEY WERE REPLACED. THIS IS A SECOND FAILURE OF THESE STRUTS. A SMALL CHILD CAN EASILY BE CRUSHED UNDER THE HATCH IF IT COMES DOWN WITHOUT WARNING. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA LE WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION THAT IS CURRENTLY AT 76256 MILES. I HAD BOUGHT IT NEW. (DELIVERY DATE 1-JAN-2007) ON 20-DEC-2012, AT 75800 MILES, I NOTICED A WHIRRING SOUND (LIKE A TURBO WHINE) WHEN I LIFTED MY FOOT OFF THE GAS (NO LOAD) AROUND 45 MPH. THE GRINDING/WHIRRING NOISE WOULD BE MOST APPARENT BETWEEN 25 MPH TO 45 MPH. I TOOK IT TO MY NEAREST TOYOTA DEALERSHIP ON 31-DEC-2012 FOR CHECKUP ( 76257 MILES AT THE TIME) AND THEY DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS GOING BAD AND WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE EXACT DIAGNOSIS WAS THAT THE "SIDE CARRIER BEARING INSIDE OF THE DIFFERENTIAL IS MAKING THE NOISE. NEED NEW TRANSMISSION - $5700.00". THE ESTIMATED COST IS $5700.00 THIS LOOKS LIKE A DESIGN FLAW IN THE TRANSMISSION, I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND HAVE DRIVEN THE VAN WITH LOT OF CARE. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT THE TOYOTA TRANSMISSION WOULD START TO FAIL AT LESS THAT 76000 MILES. I HAD BOUGHT A TOYOTA VAN ASSUMING THAT THEIR VEHICLES ARE RELIABLE. I BELIEVE THERE ARE MANY 2006 TOYOTA SIENNAS ON THE ROAD THAT WILL START HAVING THIS PROBLEM. THIS CAN CAUSE A HAZARDOUS SITUATION IF THE TRANSMISSION FAILS ON A HIGHWAY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. TOYOTA SHOULD PROVIDE EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE SIENNA TRANSMISSION JUST LIKE THEY DID FOR RAV4 2001-2003 MODEL WHEN THEY EXTENDED THAT WARRANTY TO 10 YEARS OR 150,000 MILES. *TR
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON SIGNIFYING A SYSTEM FAILURE. THIS IS A CHRONIC ISSUE WITH 2006 SIENNAS, REGARDLESS OF MILEAGE. SEEMS TO BE MORE A MATTER OF TIME. *TR
I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA WITH MOST RECENTLY THE POWER PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR THAT IS BROKEN AND DOES NOT OPEN OR CLOSE. THE DEALER FT. MYERS TOYOTA SAID THE PARTS WERE ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER AND MAY TAKE MONTHS TO GET THE PARTS TO FIX. THEY DID SAY THEY WOULD COVER UNDER WARRANTY. SECONDLY, MY STEERING ASSEMBLY NEEDED REPLACEMENT AT 80,000 MILES BECAUSE OF LEAKING FLUID AND I HAD TO PAY THE LABOR TO FIX. LASTLY, ALL 4 OF THE TIRE RIMS ON THE CAR HAVE PEELING, BUBBLING AND CHIPPING PAINT THAT IS EXPOSING THE METAL RIM. IT MAY CAUSE FURTHER CORROSION TO THE RIMS AND CAUSE A SAFETY PROBLEM TO THE WHEELS. GERMAIN TOYOTA IN NAPLES, FLA WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR WOULD NOT HELP WITH THE RIMS. FT. MYERS TOYOTA WHERE I GET THE CAR SERVICED TOLD ME ABOUT THE NATIONAL BACK ORDER PROBLEM AND ALSO CHARGED ME FOR THE DEFECTIVE STEERING ASSEMBLY WHICH I THOUGHT SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER THEIR LIFETIME POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. THEY SAID IT DID NOT. *TR
FRONT DOOR POPS WHEN OPENING / CLOSING. DOOR WELDINGS ARE LOOSE, APPARENTLY A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH TOYOTA SIENNA'S. DEALER IS NO HELP, WANT TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE DOOR AT MY EXPENSE. *TR
AT 68000 MILES, THE SRS LIGHT ON MY 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA CAME ON. IT WENT OFF FOR ABOUT 2 HOURS THEN CAME BACK ON. AFTER THE SECOND TIME THAT IT CAME ON, I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS THE CONNECTORS BEING BAD AND THAT THE AIR BAG HAD GONE BAD. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM AND MODEL ON BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES, YET TOYOTA HAS NOT MADE A SINGLE RECALL FOR THESE PROBLEMS WITH THE AIRBAGS. WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR US DRIVERS CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF OUR CHILDREN TO GET A RECALL FOR THESE FAULTY WIRINGS AND AIRBAGS? *TR
STARTED GETTING THE DRIVE SIDE FRONT DOOR POP NOISE. DOOR ASSEMBLE IS NOT WELDED PROPERLY OR LOUSE OR DESIGN IS NOT CORRECT TO LAST THIS DOOR WELDING LIFE OF VEHICLE. AS I NOW FROM OTHER VEHICLES DOOR ASSEMBLE SHOULD LAST LIFE OF VEHICLE AND THERE SHOULD BE NO PROBLEM. THERE WAS RECALLED ON THIS DOOR NOISE WHEN I WAS RECEIVED THE RECALL LETTER FROM TOYOTA, I SHOWED THIS RECALL LETTER TO TOYOTA SERVICE CENTER TIME OF REGULAR SERVICE TO MANAGER AND HE MENTIONS THAT THERE IS NO NEED TO REPAIR THIS TIME. NOW TOYOTA CUSTOMER IS NOT HONORING THIS REPAIR. GIVING ME THE REASON YOU ARE OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS TYPE OF STRUCTURAL BODY PROBLEM SHOULD BE LIFE OF VEHICLE. AS CUSTOMER AND SAFETY I DO NOT FILL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE SINCE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE, THERE ARE SO MANY ISSUES, REPAIRS, AND RECALL. VEHICLE DETAIL MAKE AND YEAR: TOYOTA SIENNA CE 2006. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SENSORS FOR THE SLIDING DOORS MALFUNCTIONED, CAUSING THE PASSENGER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR TO CLOSE WHILE A CHILD WAS STANDING IN THE DOOR'S PATH. THE CHILD SUSTAINED BRUISING AND A CUT ABOVE HER EYE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT A COMPLAINT WAS BEING ESCALATED TO THE LEGAL DEPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT WAS COMPLETELY EXTENDED AND LOCKED. THIS HAPPENED TWICE. I HAVE ALSO READ ABOUT NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF OTHER TOYOTA SIENNA OWNERS. *TR
FAIL OF AUTOMATIC REAR HATCH ON REPLACED RECALL STRUTS. HATCH WILL NOT STAY OPEN, CAUSING POSSIBLE INJURY. HATCH BROKE A BROOMSTICK I HAD USED TO PROP DOOR OPEN. *TR

THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A SHORTAGE IN THE AIR BAG WIRING HARNESS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 59,400.
THE DRIVER-SIDE REAR SLIDING DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE BY INTERIOR CONTROLS OR REMOTE. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS I WAS ABLE TO MANUALLY FORCE THE DOOR CLOSED. HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES SINCE, ONCE LEAVING THE LIGHTS ON AND DOOR OPEN OVERNIGHT IN THE COLD, DRAINING THE BATTERY AND LEAVING MY BELONGINGS UNPROTECTED AND ANOTHER TIME WHILE MY KIDS WERE LOADED INTO THE VEHICHLE IN EXTREME WINTER CONDITIONS AND WE WERE NOT ABLE TO CLOSE THE DOOR OR DRIVE HOME. HUGE SAFETY CONCERN! I EXPECT MY CHILDREN TO BE SAFE IN MY VAN WHICH IS WHY I PURHASED A TOYOTA AND BECAUSE I EXPECT THEM TO BE NON-ACCESSIBLE TO STRANGERS/CRIMINAL ACTS WHEN THEY CLIMB INTO OUR FAMILY VAN AND I CLOSE THE DOOR... DEALER IS SAYING THAT THE ISSUE IS WITH THE HINGE AND IS NOT COVERED BY THE SAFETY RECALL ISSUED. *TR
MY SLIDING REAR DOORS ARE STICKING OR NOT CLOSING/OPENING AT ALL. THE REAR RIGHT SLIDING DOOR WHEN OPENED WITH THE DOOR HANDLE NEEDS TO BE TUGGED IN ORDER TO OPEN. *TR
UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE SRS WARNING LIGHT KEPT FLASHING. THE DEALER WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE BROUGHT IN FOR AN IMMEDIATE INSPECTION. AFTER THE INSPECTION, THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THAT THE WIRING FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG HAD A SHORT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. COST FOR THE REPAIRS WAS ESTIMATED AT $1,500. THE DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED ME THAT TOYOTA WOULD CARRY THE COST OF THE REPAIRS UNDER WARRANTY, EVEN THOUGH THE WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE EXPIRED AT 60,000 MILES. WHILE THE DEALERSHIP'S HANDLING OF THIS INCIDENT IS CERTAINLY APPRECIATED, IT ALSO MADE ME SUSPICIOUS. A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH SHOWED VARIOUS RESULTS INDICATING THAT AN AIRBAG ISSUE IN THE 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. I WOULD LIKE TO REPORT THIS ISSUE TO THE NHTSA FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION AND A POSSIBLE NATIONWIDE RECALL. AIRBAG WIRING SHOULD NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED WITH THIS SORT OF LOW MILEAGE. THANK YOU. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE SITTING AT A TRAFFIC STOP, A VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS PUSHED FORWARD UNTIL CRASHING INTO A PRECEDING VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED HEAD, NECK, SHOULDER AND BACK INJURIES. THREE CHILD PASSENGERS WERE ALSO INJURED, SUSTAINING NECK AND BACK INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND WAS NOT INSPECTED FOR THE CAUSE OF THE AIR BAG FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 128,000.
I WAS DRIVING IN AUGUST AND COULD HEAR SOMETHING BANGING ON THE UNDERSIDE OF MY VAN, I WOULD STOP AND IT WOULD GO AWAY BECAUSE THE TREAD WOULD FALL ON ROAD AND THEN START A DAY LATER WITH MORE TREAD COMING OFF. IT WAS THE TREAD COMING OFF OF MY TIRES BUT DIDN'T KNOW THAT AT THE TIME AND GETTING CAUGHT ON THE UNDERSIDE OF MY VAN. THIS WENT ON FOR 2 WEEKS. MY TIRE SENSOR NEVER CAME ON. I DROVE TO OHIO ON I-75 OCTOBER 21, 2012 AND MY FRONT 2 TIRES BLEW OUT AT THE SAME TIME - BR 001522 TIRES. A BIG SLASH IN ONE TIRE A SMALL HOLE IN ANOTHER. I PULL OVER AND SEE A LOT OF THE TREAD IS COMPLETELY OFF OF BOTH TIRES. I GET TO A TIRE STORE AND THEY SAID IT LOOK LIKE THE ALIGNMENT CAUSED THE WEAR. I REPLACED ALL 4 TIRES AND HAVE THE TIRE CO PUT THE 2 IN MY BACK VAN. I GO TO BELLE TIRE TO GET A REFUND FOR MY TIRES WITH 29,000 MILES ON 65,000 WEAR TIRES. THEY SAID THEY WOULD CALL BRIDGESTONE. BRIDGESTONE DENIED MY CASE FOR A REFUND. I GOT AN ALIGNMENT 11/14/2012 AND IT SHOWS MY ALIGNMENT WAS OK A LITTLE OFF BUT WOULD NEVER HAVE CAUSED THAT KIND OF WEAR WITH TREAD JUST COMING OFF BOTH TIRES AT THE SAME TIME - THEY ARE DEFECTIVE TIRES. THE WHITE SPIKES WERE SHOWING ON BOTH TIRES - THE TREAD CAME OFF COMPLETELY ON BOTH TIRES AROUND THE EDGES. *TR

THE DASHBOARD ON MY VEHICLE IS MELTING. EVEN THOUGH IT IS A 2006 MODEL MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 59,000 MILES. WHEN I REPORTED IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS BECAUSE I USED THE WRONG CLEANER AND I HAD DAMAGED IT. THE ESTIMATED COST TO REPLACE THE DASHBOARD COVER WAS $1,000.00. OUR LOCAL TV STATION RAN A REPORT THAT THE TOYOTA'S AND LEXUS VEHICLES ALL HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM. *TR

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THAT THE STEERING COLUMN WAS PARTIALLY FRACTURED AND WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE CONTACT SPOKE TO THE MANUFACTURER BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 68,000.
AFTER LEAVING A BALISE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP TO GET 2 NEW TIRES, I WAS DRIVING HOME AND THE SRS INDICATOR LIGHT STARTED BLINKING. BROUGHT IT BACK TO BE TOLD IT WAS DEFECTIVE AND WOULD COST ABOUT $1000.00 TO FIX. *TR

THE REAR TAILGATE STRUTS SUDDENLY FAILED AND THE TAILGATE FELL AND HIT A PASSENGER IN THE READ CUTTING THE HEAD OPEN AND RESULTING IN STITCHES TO CLOSE A CUT ON THE HEAD . *TR
MY 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA VAN HAS AN SRS LIGHT THAT INTERMITTENTLY COMES ON. I HAVE SEEN NO RESOLUTION FROM TOYOTA. I UNDERSTAND THAT THE SRS IS DISABLED WHEN THE LIGHT IS ON, THUS A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED INTERMITTENT BRAKE FAILURES. THE BRAKES WOULD FUNCTION NORMALLY, THEN COMPLETELY FAIL, THEN BEGIN FUNCTIONING NORMALLY AGAIN. THIS INCIDENT RESULTED IN A LOW SPEED COLLISION. THE INITIAL OCCURRENCE WAS AFTER DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS FOR APPROXIMATELY 20 MILES AND BRAKING FOR STOPPED TRAFFIC. AFTER BRAKING TO APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE BRAKES WERE RELEASED, AND THEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED AGAIN. THERE WAS NO BRAKING EFFORT. THE DRIVER BEGAN PUMPING THE BRAKE PEDAL, AND WAS ABLE TO DO SO THREE TIMES BEFORE IMPACT. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN PLACED IN PARK AND AN ACCIDENT REPORT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN MOVED UNDER ITS OWN POWER TO A NEARBY PARKING LOT, DURING WHICH TIME THE BRAKES FUNCTIONED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN HOME. THE NEXT MORNING THE VEHICLE WAS BEING BACKED OUT OF THE GARAGE AND HAD ANOTHER COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED BY PLACING THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK. AT THIS TIME, THE VEHICLE IS SCHEDULED TO BE TOWED TO THE LARICHE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN FINDLAY, OHIO FOR DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR. THE TELEPHONE NUMBER TO THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS 419-423-5656. *TR
MASTER HEAD UNIT, INCLUDING NAVIGATION, REAR CAMERA, BLUETOOTH, AND STEREO, STOPPED WORKING. IT MAKES A CLICKING NOISE BUT THE SCREEN IS DEAD AND DOES NOT RESPOND AT ALL. APPEARS TO BE FROM A DESIGN DEFECT THAT CAUSES OVERHEATING OF THE UNIT OVER TIME. MULTIPLE REPORTS OF SIMILAR FAILURES ARE ALL OVER THE INTERNET. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE AS THE REAR CAMERA, BLUETOOTH, AND NAVIGATION ARE ALL IMPORTANT ITEMS FOR EXTRA SAFETY IN OPERATING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS A RHEOSTAT IN THE CIRCUIT THAT CONTROLS POWER TO THE DASHBOARD LIGHT, ACTIVATED WHEN YOU TURN THE NIGHTTIME DRIVING LIGHTS. THE RHEOSTAT HAS FAILED, YOU CAN'T SEE THE DASHBOARD AT NIGHT, ALREADY COST ME ONE SPEEDING TICKET. THE REAR HATCH RUBBER DOOR HANDLE MELTED DUE TO HEAT DURING THE SUMMER. DURING COLD WEATHER, THE REAR HATCH CANNOT BE OPENED DUE TO THE MELTING DOOR HANDLE. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE DOOR HANDLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A PRETTY HIGH COST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE REGARDING THE MELTING DOOR HANDLE. *JS
