Today 4/7/23 My 2017 Toyota Sienna accelerated on its own. I was driving my 4 children to school and we were at a stop light. When I took my foot of the brake to start making a turn the car gunned it around the corner. It scared everyone in the car half to death. Thankfully no one was hurt but it looks like others on here haven't been so lucky with this issue. I hope toyota does the right thing a d fixes this issue before more people die.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 TOYOTA SIENNA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND ACCELERATED FORWARD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT LEAST ONCE A DAY FOR THE PAST THREE MONTHS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,500.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK THEN INTO THE DRIVE POSITION AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE BUT STILL THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED WITH FORCE AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO OPERATE HOWEVER, AN ABNORMAL GRINDING NOISE WAS COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A BILL FOX TOYOTA AT 755 S ROCHESTER RD, ROCHESTER HILLS, MI 48307 WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THAT APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,873.
