2005 TOYOTA TACOMA STARTED JUMPING OUT OF GEAR WHILE IN FOURTH GEAR.*MR THE CONSUMER STATED THE PROBLEM ONLY HAPPENS WHILE IN 4TH GEAR. *JB
WELL I HAVE A 2005 TOYOTA TACOMA X-RUNNER, AND IT SEEMS LIKE I HAVE BEEN GETTING A CRACK ON THE RIGHT REAR TIRE GOING STRAIGHT ACROSS THE TIRE. IM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS CONCERN. *NM
I HAVE CRACKING/SPLITTING HORIZONTALLY ACROSS 2 TIRES. OTHER 2005 TOYOTA TACOMA XRUNNER OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR FACTORY INSTALLED BRIDGESTONE POTENZA RE050A TIRES.
PURCHASED NEW 2005 TOYOTA TACOMA PICKUP, 4 CYLINDER, AUTOMATIC, 4X2. ON FIRST DRIVE OF NEW TRUCK A SHAKE OR SHIMMY WAS NOTICED AT ANY SPEED ABOVE 20 MPH, BUT MOST NOTABLE IN THE 45 TO 70 MPH RANGE. RETURNED TRUCK TO DEALER. WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A DEFECT KNOWN TO TOYOTA, BUT THAT TOYOTA HAS BEEN UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OR PROVIDE A FIX. BOBBY RAHAL TOYOTA IN MECHANICSBURG REFUSES TO REFUND MONEY, CANNOT FIX THE PROBLEM AND REFUSES TO WORK ON THIS DEFECT CITING NO CURE. CONCERN IS THAT A CONSTANT FRONT END VIBRATION OF THIS SORT WILL LEAD TO SUSPENSION AND / OR STEERING FAILURE RESULTING IS A CRASH.*JB
MY TIRE LOOKS LIKE ITS GOING TO COME APART. THERE IS SOMETHING THAT LOOKS LIKE A CUT FROM ONE SIDE OF THE TIRE TO THE OTHER. I HAVENT RAN ANYTHING OVER FOR IT TO DO THAT. MY FRIEND HAS THE SAME TRUCK AND HIS TIRE IS DOING THE SAME THING.MY FRIEND AND I WENT TO A FIRESTONE DEALER IN SAN DIEGO AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING UNTIL IT GETS WORSE.
DT: THE CONSUMER'S VEHILCE HAS LESS THAN 4,000 MILES ON IT. THE CONSUEMR INDICATED THAT HE ONLY DRIVES ON PAVED ROADS. HE HAS HAD 2 ROAD HAZARDS. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW WITH THE TIRES ON IT. THE FIRST ROAD HAZARD THE DEALER TOLD HIM IT WAS JUST A NAIL. THE SECOND ROAD HAZARD THEY TOLD HIM THE SAME THING. THE PSI RECOMMENDED FOR THE FRONT TIRES WAS 29, BUT THE REAR TIRES WAS 30. THERE WERE NO ABNORMAL BULGES NOTICED. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS TO COME ON PRIOR TO THIS. THE TIRES ARE FIRESTONE TIRES. HE REGULARLY CHECKS HIS TIRE PRESSURE AND HAS THEM ROTATED WHEN NEEDED. *AK *NM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA TACOMA. WHEN SHIFTING FROM FOURTH TO FIFTH GEAR, USUALLY AROUND 45 MPH, THE RPM WOULD INCREASE. THE CONTACT COULD NOT DETERMINE HOW MUCH THE RPM INCREASED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A NORMAL FUNCTION OF THE EMISSION CONTROL. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,300 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 23,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT HEARS METAL GRINDING WHEN MAKING LEFT TURNS. THE FAILURE HAS BEEN OCCURRING EVER SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. TOYOTA STATED THAT THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW TO REPAIR THE FAILURE, HOWEVER THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE SAFE TO DRIVE. THEY ALSO STATED THAT THEY DO NOT CONSIDER IT A SAFETY HAZARD. TOYOTA STATED THAT THIS IS A FAILURE DEALING WITH THE TRANS-ACTUAL AND TRANSFER CASE OF THE STEERING COLUMN. THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 38,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
WHILE PERFORMING A NORMAL REVIEW UNDER THE HOOD, I DISCOVERED THE OEM DELPHI BATTERY HAD SPRAYED ACID ON THE UNDER SIDE OF THE HOOD WHICH RAN DOWN THE FENDER WELL (REMOVING THE PAINT ON BOTH) AND CONTINUED RUNNING DOWN TO THE FRAME AND AC LINE.
STEERING WHEEL WILL MOVE BACK AND FORTH AS IF A SURGE OF PRESSURE. THIS CAUSES VEHICLE TO BECOME DIFFICULT TO HANDLE. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO DEALERSHIP TWICE WITH OUT CORRECTION THEY SAY THAT IT IS FINE. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THERE IS A VIBRATION IN THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE AT SPEEDS OF 25 TO 35 MPH. THE FRONT TIRES HAVE BEEN REPLACED ONCE TRYING TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM. THE INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP PERSONNEL DETERMINED THE VIBRATION WAS DUE TO DEFECT IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION . THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *NM
DT:TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE. WHILE DRIVING IN PARKING LOT AT LOW SPEED HIT BRAKES AND BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR. VEHICLE FINALLY STOPPED AFTER BEING STEERED ON CONCRETE ABUTMENT. DID NOT HAVE ANY PROPERTY DAMAGES OR ACCIDENT, BUT THERE WAS BRAKE FAILURE. HAD TOWED VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP WHERE HE PURCHASED VEHICLE. DEALER TESTED IT, AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE, BUT DID NOTE THAT THE BRAKE PRESSURE WAS WEAK, AND THE PEDAL HAD TO BE PUT TO THE FLOOR TO STOP. BECAUSE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE THEY COULD NOT REPAIR. *AK
BRIDGESTONE RE050A TIRES CRACKING ACROSS THE TREAD. THESE TIRES COME STOCK FROM TOYOTA ON THE 2005 TOYOTA TACOMA X-RUNNER. *NM
2005 TOYOTA TACOMA TIRE FAILURE I WOULD FIRST LIKE TO MAKE IT CLEAR, THIS TRUCK HAS NEVER BEEN USED FOR ANYTHING BUT GOING BACK AND FORTH TO THE GROCERY STORE ETC. IT HAS NEVER BEEN PUT INTO FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. WE PURCHASED IT FOR A CROSS COUNTRY TRIP BUT WERE AFRAID TO USE IT DUE TO THE TIRES WEARING OUT AT 3,000 MILES AND THE CONTINUED VIBRATION. (FYI-WE TOOK A PLANE) THERE IS NO WAY TO GET A GOOD BALANCE ON THE TIRES ON THE 2005 TOYOTA TRUCK BECAUSE OF THE DESIGN OF THE RIMS. I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE TO DIFFERENT DEALERS IN DIFFERENT STATES AND I GET THE SAME MESSAGE FOR ALL. THE TIRES WORE OUT WITHIN THE FIRST 3000 MILES AND WE HAD THEM REPLACED. THE TRUCK HAS A VIBRATION THAT YOU CAN FEEL IN THE STIRRING AND IS SHOWING UNEVEN TIRE WEAR. I WAS TOLD BY A TOYOTA REP. THAT THEY WERE HAVING THIS TROUBLE WITH ALL THE NEW TRUCKS BECAUSE OF A CHANGE IN DESIGN THIS YEAR. THIS PROBLEM MAKES IT UNSAFE TO TRAVEL ON INTERSTATES BECAUSE YOU CAN'T GO OVER 45 WITHOUT A SIGNIFICANT VIBRATION. A FACTORY REP. DROVE OUR TRUCK AND ACTUALLY SAID THERE WAS NO VIBRATION AT 85 MPH. HE DID FEEL THE VIBRATION AT LOWER SPEEDS BUT SAID THAT THERE WAS NOTHING HE COULD DO ABOUT IT. BESIDES THE SAFETY FACTOR OF THE VIBRATION THIS COULD BE A REAL SAFETY HAZARD WHEN PEOPLE CAN'T AFFORD A NEW SET OF TIRES EVERY 3,000 MILES SO THEY DRIVE ON WORN OUT TIRES. *NM
DT: THE CONSUMER PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ON MAY 31, 2005 AND SAYS THE AIR FROM THE ENGINE WAS ENTERING THE CAB OF VEHICLE. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME HE USES THE VENT. IT HAS BEEN DOING THIS FROM THE DAY HE BOUGHT IT. HE SAID HE COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHY THE VENTED AIR WAS SO HOT. DEALER WILL NOT RETURN HIS CALLS AND SAY THE PROBLEM IS CONSISTENT WITH THE VEHICLE. MANUFACTURER SAYS THEY WILL LOOK AT THE VEHICLE. CALLER CAN'T GET A LOANER VEHICLE WHILE HIS IS BEING LOOKED AT. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THE PROBLEM CAN'T BE FIXED BECAUSE IT IS AN ENGINEERING DEFECT AND IS NOT EASY TO FIX. THE CONSUMER WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE FUMES BEING INHALED INTO HIS LUNGS. *JB
WIND NOISE IN CAB OF MY 2005 TACOMA EXTRA CAB. THIS IS A EXTREMELY INTOLERABLE NOISE THAT DESTROYS ANY POSSIBILITY OF HAVING A ENJOYABLE DRIVING EXPERIENCE IN THIS VEHICLE. CONDITION WAS; PRESENT WHEN DELIVERED, TOLD TODAY AFTER COMPLAINING FROM DAY ONE THAT THE CONDITION IS ONE CAUSED BY ENGINEERING DEFECT AND TOYOTA HAS NO FIX FOR IT. I KNOW THIS IS PRESENT IN ALL TACOMAS OF THIS MODEL, 2005-2007 AS I HAVE DRIVEN ANOTHER NEW TRUCK EXACTLY LIKE MINE WITH THE SAME CONDITION. DEALER IS NO HELP WHATSOEVER. THE OUTSIDE REVIEW MIRRORS VIBRATE EXCESSIVELY ESPECIALLY ON WINDY DAYS, SO MUCH THAT VEHICLES OR ANY OTHER OBJECT IS INDISERNABLE. I HAVE TAKEN MY PROBLEM TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS, THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED FROM SWAPPED MY MIRRORS WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE TO NO AVAIL. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A SAFETY DEFECT AND SHOULD BE FIXED BY TOYOTA BY ENGINEERING A BETTER OUTSIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR FREE FROM VIBRATION.
ABUNDANT FRAME RUST ON 2005 TOYOTA TACOMA WITH 53,000 MILES. VEHICLE DRIVEN IN NORMAL CONDITIONS; UNDERSIDE SPRAY-WASHED REGULARLY ALL WINTER LONG. THE AMOUNT OF FRAME RUST IS CONSISTENT WITH OTHER SIMILAR TACOMAS I'VE SEEN, BUT MUCH GREATER THAN ON OTHER MAKE AND MODEL TRUCKS OF THE SAME AGE OR OLDER, EVEN MUCH OLDER. MY CONCERN IS THAT THE RATE OF RUST DEVELOPMENT ON THESE TACOMAS COULD EVENTUALLY LEAD TO FRAME FAILURE, PUTTING OCCUPANTS AND OTHERS AT SAFETY RISK. *TR
DT: CONSUMER WAS UNLOADING A MOTORCYCLE FROM HIS TRUCK AND THE REAR TAILGATE BENT IN ALMOST A V. THIS SHIFTED THE MOTORCYCLE'S WEIGHT, AND ALMOST RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. THE MOTORCYCLE COULD HAVE FALLEN OFF THE TAILGATE OR FALLEN UPON THE CALLER .THE OWNER'S MANUAL DOES NOT STATE HOW MUCH WEIGHT THE TAILGATE CAN SUPPORT OR ANY PRECAUTIONS ON LOADING ONTO A TAILGATE. *AK
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA TACOMA WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING AT ANY RATE OF SPEED IN FOURTH GEAR, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD INTERMITTENTLY SWITCH INTO NEUTRAL WITHOUT WARRANT. WHEN PLACED BACK INTO FOURTH GEAR, THE VEHICLE WOULD FUNCTION AS NORMAL UNTIL THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR. THE CONTACT STATED HE WOULD EXPERIENCE THE FAILURE AT LEAST ONCE EACH TIME THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATED. THE DEALER ADVISED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER RECALL AND WOULD NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT PARKED THE VEHICLE AND WAS NO LONGER OPERATING IT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 1,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 15,000.
THE FENDER SUPPORT BRACKETS BROKE CAUSING THE FENDERS TO BECOME LOOSE AND CRACK. *JB
MY 2005 TOYOTA TACOMA PICKUP HAS SEVERE PAINT CHIPPING PROBLEMS ON THE ROCKER PANELS, LOWER DOORS, AND FRONT OF THE BEDSIDES. TOYOTA IS DENYING RESPONSIBILITY. THEY WANT TO DO A PAINT REPAIR WHICH WILL DEPRECIATE THE VALUE OF MY TRUCK INSTEAD OF GIVING ME A NEW TRUCK WHICH IS THE ONLY WAY TO PROPERLY CORRECT THE PROBLEM. UNLESS THEY WERE TO STRIP MY TRUCK DOWN TO BARE METAL AND REPAINT FROM SCRATCH, THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO DO IT PROPERLY.
I HAVE A 2005 TOYOTA TACOMA 4 DOOR AND EVER SINCE TAKING IT OFF THE LOT 5 DAYS AGO, WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES IN ANY WEATHER, ON ANY SURFACE OF ROAD, I GET A THUMPING IN THE PEDAL AND THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES TO STOP. IT GETS WORSE WITH MORE PRESSURE APPLIED TO THE BRAKES. THE FRONT END SEEMS TO BOUNCE, AND FEELS LIKE IT WILL GO OUT OF CONTROL. THE TRUCK HAS 230 MILES ON IT, I WILL BE CALLING THE DEALER TODAY.
STEERING WHEEL SHACKS FROM APPROXIMATELY 62 TO 75 MILES PER HOUR. HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TWICE. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY CAN NOT FIND THE PROBLEM AND THAT THE SHACKING IS NOT A SAFETY CONSERN. THE SECOND VISIT TO THE DEALER THEY HAD THE VEHICLE FOR 3 DAYS. VEHICLE HAS 1700 MILES.
2005 TACOMA PRERUNNER HAS A POP OR THUMP THAT OCCURS WHEN THERE IS AN ACCELERATION FOR A DEAD STOP AND THEN ALSO A THUMP WHEN THERE IS A DECELERATION. IT CAN BE FELT IN THE CAB AS THOUGH THERE IS A SPACE BETWEEN THE CAB MOUNTING BOLTS AND THE FRAME I.E., NOT TIGHT ENOUGH AND CAUSES THE CAB TO LIFT FORWARD AND UP WHEN STOPPING OR THE OPPOSITE WHEN ACCELERATING. HAVE TAKEN IT TO TOYOTA OF MANHATTAN BEACH, CA., THEY TIGHTENED THE BOLTS AND IT WAS BETTER BUT IS NOW BACK AS IT WAS IN BEFORE. *NM
CONSUMER WAS UNDER THE ASSUMPTION THAT A BED AND A BEDLINER CAME WITH THEIR 2005 TOYOTA TACOMA.*MR WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH WITH A LOAD OF 208 BRICKS IN PLASTIC WRAP. THE CONSUMER HAD TO MAKE A SUDDEN STOP AND WHEN HE DID THE BRICKS SHIFTED AND RAN INTO THE CAB OF THE TRUCK DENTING IT. THE CONSUMER BELIEVES IF THERE WAS A TRUCK BED INSTALLED THIS WOULD NOT HAVE OCCURRED. *NM
THE PAINT ON MY 2005 TOYOTA TACOMA IS CHIPPING OF VERY RAPIDLY AND THE PAINT IS VERY SOFT AND CAN NOT WITH STAND THE NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS IN MY STATE.THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE PAINT FROM THE FACTORY AND NO RESOLUTIONS ARE BEING MADE
WIND NOISE - I EXPERIENCED THE SAME INTOLERABLE WIND NOISE IN THE VEHICLE AS OTHERS. IT WAS MOST APPARENT AT FREEWAY SPEEDS IN A CROSS WIND. THE DEALER SAID THERE WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE WAY THE WINDSHIELD WAS SEALED AND REPLACED IT BUT TO NO AVAIL. AFTER SEVERAL VISITS THEY CALLED IN A FACTORY TECHNICIAN WHO QUICKLY IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM AS AN IMPROPER FITTING FRONT PASSENGER DOOR AND SEAL. DRIVING AT FREEWAY SPEED HE APPLIED LIGHT OUTWARD PRESSURE TO THE UPPER PORTION OF THE DOOR FRAME AND THE NOISE WOULD OCCUR. EXAMINING THE EXTERIOR FIT OF THE DOOR THERE WAS APPROXIMATELY A 3/16" MISMATCH TO THE REAR DOOR THAT ALSO INDICATED AN IMPROPER FIT. THIS PROBLEM WAS INCREDIBLY ANNOYING AND TOOK APPROXIMATELY 5 MONTHS TO RESOLVE. SINCE, I HAVE HAD AN OCCASIONAL WHISTLE BUT NOT THE PERSISTENT SOUND AS BEFORE. *NM
2005 TACOMA PRERUNNER. AUTOMATIC-PACKAGE 2. HAD NEW VEHICLE SURGE 3 DIFFERENT TIMES AFTER PURCHASE FIRST WEEK OF MARCH. LAST TIME SENT ME INTO MIDDLE OF BUSY INTERSECTION. THIS WAS TUESDAY MARCH 29, 2005. CALLED DEALER AND THEY SENT A TOW TRUCK. ALL PEOPLE AT DEALERSHIP HAVE BEEN VERY NICE, BUT SAY THEY HAVE FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. FOUND OUT LAST WEEK, THAT A LADY ON A TEST DRIVE HAD A CAR SURGE THROUGH THE SHOWROOM WINDOW AT SAME DEALERSHIP. I HAVE NO FAITH THAT THE VEHICLE WON'T DO THIS AGAIN. I AM REFUSING TO PICK VEHICLE UP AT DEALERSHIP, EVEN THOUGH I PAID CASH.
I HAVE A 2005 TOYOTA TACOMA WITH ALMOST 600 MILES ON IT. TODAY I DROVE IT IT WAS A LITTLE WINDY OUT GOT HOME AND LOOKED AT THE TRUCK,IT WAS COVERED WITH ROCK CHIPS!! I HAVE READ ON TOYOTANATION.COM OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND THINK IT IS DUE TO WEAK PAINT, AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED. *AK
1. FROM DAY ONE ;2. LOUD POPPING NOISES FROM UNDER SIDE - CABIN ATTACHMENT TO THE CHASIS. ITS BEEN TWO WEEKS SINCE I TOOK THE VEHICLE AND ITS GETTING WORSE. OCCURRS WHEN GOING OVER EVEN SMALL BUMPS/RUTS/MANHOLE COVERS OR OTHER IMPERFECTIONS IN THE ROAD ESPECIALLY AT SLOW SPEEDS. AND, THERE IS SIGNIFICANT "SWAYING" IN THE CABIN. PROBABLY DUE TO IMPROPER SECUREMENT OF THE CAB TO CHASIS. 3. HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALER WHO CALLED TOYOTA IN CALIFORNIA WHO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM IN A LOT OF THE 05 TACOMAS WITH TRD, 4X4, 4 DOOR, SHORT BED MODELS, BUT HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO YET. IS THIS VEHICLE SAFE FOR ME AND MY FAMILY? THE DEALER,VERY NICE, SAID HE WILL HAVE TO WAIT FOR TOYOTA TO COME UP WITH A SOLUTION. FURTHER RESEARCHING ON EDMUNDS' TOYOTA TACOMA FORUMS, I SEE MANY MANY NEW OWNERS WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS WHICH ACTUALLY HAS BEEN REPORTED SINCE THE INTRODUCTION OF THE VEHICLE LAST OCT/NOV. ITS BEEN MOR THAN 4 MONTHS AND TOYOTA IS SELLING IT WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.*AK
I HAVE A SILVER 2005 TOYOTA TACOMA EXTENDED CAB AND THE PAINT IS CHIPPING EVERYWHERE, ROCKERS, DOORS, LEADING EDGE OF REAR DOORS, A COUPLE OF SPOTS ON THE WINDSHIELD PILLARS, AND IN FRONT OF THE REAR TIRES FEEL LIKE IT GOT SANDBLASTED. I COMPLAINED TO TOYOTA OF KEENE. HE TOLD ME TOYOTA TOLD HIM TO DO WHATEVER IS NECESSARY TO FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT HE IS ONLY TO PAINT THE LEADING EDGE OF THE READ DOORS. THE BODY SHOP TOLD HIM IF THEY PAINED THE REST IT WOULD ONLY CHIP OFF. I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANY OTHER MANUFACTURES OR OTHER MODELS OF TOYOTA CHIP LIKE THIS. WHAT WILL IT LOOK LIKE AT 50,000 MILES. 2005 TOYOTA TACOMA DOUBLE CAB WITH SKID PLATE. SKID PLATE CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO VIBRATE AT HIGH SPEEDS, 70 MPH AND HIGHER. IT'S WORSE WHEN CAUGHT IN A CROSS WIND ON THE HIGHWAY OR ON WINDY DAYS. MY IN CAR GPS SYSTEM SHOWS IT DOING 75 MPH WHEN THE SPEEDOMETER (IN DASH)SHOWS IT DOING 80, 66 MPH WHEN DOING 70 ON THE SPEEDOMETER. SO IF DOING A MINIMUM SPEED POSTING OF 45 MPH I WOULD BE DOING ONLY 43 MPH ON THE SPEEDOMETER. TOYOTA CLAIMS THAT THE SPEEDOMETER IS WITH IN TOLLERANCE AND WILL NOT ADDRESS THE ISSUE. *JB

EXHAUST POOR ENGINEERING. THE CROSSOVER PIPE ON THE EXHAUST IS THE LOWEST POINT OF THE VEHICLE. IT HANGS DOWN BELOW THE TRANSFERCASE MOUNT. THIS WILL GET CRUSHED IF TAKEN OFF ROAD. I BOUGHT A 4 X 4 TRD MODEL FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF TAKING IT OFF-ROAD. A CRUSHED OR DAMAGED CROSSOVER PIPE COULD RESULT IN CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING OR EVEN DEATH. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED FOR THIS PROBLEM.*AK

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA TACOMA. WHEN HE SETS THE CRUISE CONTROL AT 65MPH THE RPMS WILL INCREASE FROM 2,000 TO 5,000. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR THE FAILURE SEVERAL TIMES. THE DEALER STATED THEY DID NOT LOCATE A FAILURE AND NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER TOOK A REPORT AND SENT AN INSPECTOR TO THE DEALER AND THE INVESTIGATOR CONCLUDED THE VEHICLE WAS BUILT THAT WAY AND THE VEHICLE WAS NORMAL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
SEVERE BLISTERING, FLAKING AND CHIPPING OF PAINT ON MY NEW TOYOTA TACOMA. FIRST OCCURED ON JANUARY 11, 2005, WHEN THE TRUCK WAS ONLY 5 WEEKS OLD, AFTER AN 18 MILE ROUND TRIP TO WORK ON PAVED ROADS. THERE WERE HUNDREDS OF FLAKES AND CHIPS ON THE TRUCK, TOO MANY TO COUNT. AFTER A FEW MONTHS OF THIS, MUCH OF THE PAINT ON THE LOWER SECTIONS OF THE TRUCK WAS GONE. THIS IS HAPPENING TO MANY TACOMAS, AND TOYOTA IS TRYING TO BLAME IT ON ENVIRONMENTAL DAMAGE, BUT I DON'T SEE ANY OTHER VEHICLES WITH THE SAME KIND OF DAMAGE, ONLY TACOMAS. WHEN DRIVEN AS THE MANUFACTURER INTENDS, THE TACOMA SUFFERS SEVERE PAINT DAMAGE, MUCH MORE THAN ANY REASONABLE OWNER WOULD EXPECT. TOYOTA OFFERED ME A "COURTESY" PAINT JOB, BUT A BODY SHOP PAINT JOB AND NEVER MATCH THE ORIGINAL FACTORY FINISH AND IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE ON A BRAND NEW TRUCK. PLUS, THE PAINT JOB TOYOTA OFFERS COVERS ONLY THE AREAS AFFECTED SO FAR, LEAVING BEHIND ALL OF THE OTHER AREAS ON THE TRUCK WHICH ARE STILL PRONE TO SEVERE CHIPPING AND FLAKING. IN MY OPINION, THE PAINT IS DEFECTIVE.
CABIN MOUNT BOLTS AND BUSHINGS CONTRACT IN THE COLD WEATHER AND BECOME LOOSE. THERE IS A LOUD BANGING NOISE HEARD THROUGHOUT THE CAB OF THE TRUCK. WHEN THE WEATHER WARMS UP THE SOUND GOES AWAY. DEALER REMOVED THE BUSHINGS AND BOLTS AND REALIGNED TO NO AVAIL. *JB
WHILE DRIVING IN INCLEMENT WEATHER VEHICLE STARTED LEAKING ONTO THE FLOORBOARD. THIS CAUSED A FLOOD INSIDE THE VEHICLE. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE A POST BECAME DETACHED FROM THE MAIN FRAME OF THE VEHICLE. MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT A PROXY GLUE WAS APPLIED AND FIXED IT. *AK
