2007 TOYOTA TACOMA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO 5 RECALLS ON VEHICLE *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED OVER THE LAST FIVE YEARS THERE WERE APPROXIMATELY FIVE RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE AND THE DEALER REFUSED TO REMEDY THEM, WHICH MADE THE VEHICLE ALMOST WORTHLESS.
SUN VISOR DROPPED AND WILL STAY IN PLACE. NO REASON FOR THIS TO HAPPEN; IT'S DISTRACTING AND DANGEROUS AS IT FAILS TO ADEQUATELY BLOCK THE SUN. THERE APPEARS TO BE A DEFECT IN THE MECHANISM HOLDING THE VISOR IN PLACE. COMPOUNDING THE PROBLEM IS THE PART IS NOT READILY AVAILABLE AT PARTS STORES AND IT'S PRETTY EXPENSIVE -- MORE THAN $100 EACH FOR SOMETHING THAT NEVER SHOULD HAVE FAILED TO BEGIN WITH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WERE BUBBLES ON THE SURFACE OF ALL FOUR WHEELS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT A STOP, THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE BECAME FLAT. THE PSI WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE CHEMICALS USE TO ATTACH THE ALUMINUM ALLOY ON THE WHEELS, THAT CAUSED THE PRODUCT NOT TO SEAL. AS A CONSEQUENCE THE WHEELS WERE DISSOLVING, CAUSING THE TIRE TO DEFLATE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE WAS FILED WITH THEM. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 56,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 12V092000 (AIR BAGS: FRONTAL) AND ATTEMPTED TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR REPAIRS WITH DEALER. THE DEALER THEN ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE PARTS NEEDED FOR THE REPAIR WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT WAS NOT GIVEN AN ESTIMATED TIME FOR PARTS TO BE AVAILABLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
WHILE PASSING A SLOWER VEHICLE MY ACCELERATOR STUCK IN FULL THROTTLE AND WOULD NOT RELEASE, I TRIED TO PUT ON THE BRAKES BUT THE VEHICLE KEEP PICKING UP SPEED. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND STARTED HITTING THE GAS PEDAL WITH MY RIGHT FOOT, THE ACCELERATOR RELEASED AND MY TRUCK WAS DOING OVER 70 MPH OR MORE. THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING AT FULL SPEED WHILE IN NEUTRAL AND I WAS JUST ABOUT TO SHUT OFF THE ENGINE WHEN IT RELEASED, I CONTACTED THE TOYOTA DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE TRUCK AND THE MAN ASKED HOW MANY FLOOR MATE'S WERE IN THE DRIVER SIDE OF MY TRUCK. I INFORMED HIM THAT THE ONLY MAT WAS THE MAT THAT CAME WITH THE TRUCK , I WAS INFORMED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO DROP OFF MY VEHICLE AND LEAVE IT UNTIL SOMEONE WENT OVER IT. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THIS WOULD TAKE ABOUT ONE DAY OR MORE, AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO FILL OUT A BUNCH OF FORM'S FIRST. I TOLD THE SERVICE PERSON THAT THIS WAS MY ONLY VEHICLE AND THAT I HAD NO OTHER VEHICLE TO USE UNTIL THEY WERE DONE WITH THERE CHECK OF THE VEHICLE, THE SERVICE PERSON ( [XXX] OF PGH PA) SAID THAT'S THE WAY IT IS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT MALFUNCTIONED DUE TO A FAULTY FAN SWITCH AND CONNECTOR THAT BURNED THE FAN WIRE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE RESISTOR TO THE FAN UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT DID NOT REPLACE THE RESISTOR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DECELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND SENT AN ENGINEER TO FURTHER INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE ENGINEER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000. THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE PULLING OUT TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE HE ATTEMPTED TO USE THE KICK DOWN FEATURE. THE TRUCK REARED UP WHEN IT DOWN SHIFTED, THEN IMMEDIATELY FELL FLAT ON ITS FACE. THE ENGINE DID NOT SHUT OFF BUT, RETURNED IDLE WITH THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. UPDATED 12/27/2012 *JS
TRUCK WAS IN A PARKING SLOT WHEN IT SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND JUMPED THE CONCRETE BARRIER AND HIT THE BUILDING (DELI) BROKE THE GLASS AND DAMAGED BUILDING. AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. DAMAGE TO TRUCK WAS $6533.97. THIS IS SECOND TIME TRUCK HAS ACCELERATED UNEXPECTEDLY. TOYOTA INSPECTED IT ON 6/25/2012 AND DETERMINED IT WAS NOT A MANUFACTURE DESIGN OR DEFECT. I BELIEVE THERE IS SOME KIND OF MALFUNCTION. THEY CHECKED THE OPERATION OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THEY CLAIM ALL THROTTLE TESTS WERE SAFE AS THEY WERE DESIGNED. *TR
VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 38,000 MILES, 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA. I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 3 MPH WHEN FOUR INDICATOR LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND A WARNING ALARM CONSTANT TONE. AT THAT POINT I LOST ALL POWER TO THE BRAKING SYSTEM. I DID NOT EXPERIENCE ANY ISSUES LEADING UP TO THIS INCIDENT AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER TO THE BRAKES. THE DEALERSHIP STATED I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE ABS ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY (MASTER CYLINDER ASSEMBLY, WITH ENGINE CONTROL MODULE, WITH BOOSTER PUMP). TOYOTA CURRENTLY EXPERIENCES A NATIONAL BACK ORDER ON THE REQUIRED PARTS TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE (PART NUMBERS 47050-04041 AND 47070-04020). I AM CONCERNED THAT THERE IS A LARGER PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM THAT HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED BY TOYOTA. I WAS FURTHER TOLD THAT THIS ISSUE IS EXTREMELY RARE BUT WITH A BACK ORDER ON THE PARTS AND NO ANTICIPATED DELIVERY DATE, I AM VERY SKEPTICAL. IT SEEMS THERE HAVE BEEN SOME BRAKING ISSUES WITH OTHER TOYOTA MODELS AROUND THE SAME TIME FRAME. *TR
I WAS ON MY WAY TO GET GAS I CAME TO A STOP LIGHT THERE WERE ABOUT 4-5 CARS WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO CHANGE, MY TRUCK STARTED TO ACCELERATE AS SOON AS I APPLIED MY BRAKES,UNABLE TO STOP THE TRUCK I PULLED INTO A GAS STATION THAT WAS ON MY RIGHT I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE TRUCK ON PARK AND IT BEGAN TO ACCELERATE EVEN FASTER.I TURN THE CAR OFF AND THE ACCELERATION STOPPED I MISSED THE GAS PUMP BY 2 FEET.I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO MCGEORGE TOYOTA 9314 WEST BROAD STREET RICHMOND VA AND THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC TEST,THEY CAME BACK TO ME AND SAID THAT I HAD LOOSE MATS,AND WRONG PEDALS ON MY TRUCK,WHICH HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH WHAT I EXPERENCE(,I REPORT THIS ALSO TO TOYOTA ),I FEEL THAT THEY ARE TRYING TO BRUSH THIS UNDER THE CARPET BY SAYING IT WAS MY MAT,AND GAS PEDALS THAT WERE INSTALLED IN MY TRUCK,I KNOW WHAT I WENT THROUGH AND ALMOST HAD A REAL TRAGIC ACCIDENT IT WAS NOT THE MATS,OR MY PEDALS..THIS TRUCK TOOK ON A LIFE OF ITS OWN AND I COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE OR MYSELF, AND WOULD LIKE TO GO ON RECORD IN CASE ANYTHING HAPPENS TO ME OR SOMEONE ELSE..THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THIS TOYOTA TACOMA BY THE WAY I ONLY HAVE HAD THIS TRUCK LESS THAN A MONTH AND HAVE NOT EVEN MADE MY FIRST PAYMENT ! *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT WAS ENTERING A PARKING SPACE AT 5 MPH WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED INTO A BUILDING. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM. THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WOULD SEND AN INVESTIGATOR TO FURTHER INSPECT THE FAILURE. IN ADDITION, THE MANUFACTURER FILED A CLAIM ON BEHALF OF THE CONTACT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
STEERING BECAME VERY STIFF. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BRAKE FLUID WAS LEAKING INSIDE THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE. AFTER INSPECTING THE BRAKES, HE NOTICED BRAKE FLUID LEAKING ON THE CARPET OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING DIAGNOSIS OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
ONE BY ONE, ALL FOUR ELECTRONIC DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS THAT LOCK AND UNLOCK THE VEHICLES DOORS STOPPED FUNCTIONING. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP REPLACED THEM, ONE AT A TIME UNTIL ALL FOUR WERE WORKING AGAIN. THIS WAS COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT I HAD PURCHASED WITH THE VEHICLE. NOW, AT 84,000 MILES, TWO OF THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS HAVE FAILED AGAIN ! THIS TIME, THE DEALER TOLD ME BECAUSE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED I WAS OUT OF LUCK AND WOULD HAVE TO PAY ROUGHLY $500.00 PER DOOR TO HAVE IT FIXED! MY RESPONSE WAS " THIS IS A PRE-EXISTING CONDITION, SO THEY SHOULD BE REPLACED BY TOYOTA". THE SERVICE REP TOLD ME THAT THE PARTS WERE ONLY WARRANTEED FOR ONE YEAR. THE DEALERSHIP CONTACTED TOYOTA, AND SUBMITTED ALL OF THE PAPERWORK FROM MY PREVIOUS PROBLEMS. TOYOTA RESPONDED WITH A "TOO BAD, WE'RE NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING TO HELP YOU". SO, HERE I AM WITH FAULTY DOOR LOCKS THAT YOU THINK ARE LOCKED, BUT ARE NOT. WHICH LEADS TO A SAFETY AND SECURITY ISSUE FOR ME AND ANYONE THAT RIDES IN MY VEHICLE. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET, THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE TRUCKS. I'M WONDERING WHY THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL REGARDING THIS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRAME SNAPPED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BECOME DIFFICULT TO STOP WHEN BRAKING. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING ANY RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN EVERY RECALL LISTED FOR THE YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL INCLUDING NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V388000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT WITH AN AUTHORIZED DEALER TO HAVE THE RECALL SERVICE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,553.
SPIRAL CABLE IN STEERING DEFECTIVE, HAD TO REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE ASSEMBLY. AIR BAG NOT OPERATING IF DASH LIGHT ON. *TR
THE PROBLEM WITH LEAF SPRING STARTED THREE YEARS AND AFTER THE FINAL RECALL, WE WAITED TWO MONTHS. THE BAD LEAF SPRING CAUSED A ROUGH VIBRATION, WHICH CAUSED ROD, DRY SHAFT, U JOINT, AND REAR END ARE CONNECTED WHICH CAUSED DAMAGE TO ALL CONNECTED PARTS.THE THREE YEARS AND TWO MONTHS OF ROUGH VIBRATION CAUSED A SNOWBALL EFFECT WHILE DRIVING, TURNING AND IN MOTION.
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT STAYS ON, CODE INDICATES DEFECTIVE SPIRAL CABLE. SEEMS TO BE A COMMON DEFECT IN NEWER TACOMAS AND IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE SINCE THE AIR BAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT. REPLACING THESE IS APPARENTLY A PROFIT MAKER FOR TOYOTA, ISN'T IT ABOUT TIME THEY WERE MADE TO PAY FOR THIS DEFECT THEMSELVES, VIA A SAFETY RECALL? OR DO PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE FIRST? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT STATED THE DAYTIME RUNNING LAMP HOUSING MELTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE WHO STATED BOTH HEAD LAMPS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,388.
VIBRATION OCCURRED BETWEEN 15 AND 20 MPH. THE TRUCK FELT LIKE YOU WERE DRIVING OVER A GRAVEL ROAD. RESEARCH INDICATED THERE WERE TSB'S FOR A SIMILAR PROBLEM AT A LITTLE HIGHER SPEED WHICH EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 5 YEARS OR 80,000 MILES. I WAS FIRST TOLD BY THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP THAT THE PROBLEM WAS A RUBBER INSULATOR ENGINE MOUNT IN THE TRANSMISSION. I WAS LATER TOLD WHEN THE TRUCK WAS IN FOR REPAIR THAT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT THAT. THE PROBLEM WAS NOW ONE OF THE U JOINTS WAS NOT TURNING LIKE IT SHOULD. THE REPAIR RECOMMENDATION WAS REPLACE THE DRIVE SHAFT AND 3 U JOINTS AT A COST OF ABOUT $1,000.00. I ENDED UP SPENDING $731.00 AND TOYOTA PAID THE REST. THE REPAIR BILL STATES "DRIVE SHAFT FROZE". THE REPAIR WAS DONE ON NOVEMBER 29, 2011. *TR
THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING. MY PASSENGER LOOKED IT UP IN THE MANUAL AND IT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TO BE RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE FOR MAINTENANCE. THE PROBLEM TURNED OUT TO BE THE SPIRAL CABLE FOR THE AIR BAG HAD BROKEN. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE, AS THE AIR BAG WILL NOT DEPLOY WHEN THIS CABLE BREAKS. FORTUNATELY FOR ME, THIS HAPPENED PRIOR TO THE EXPIRATION OF THE WARRANTY FOR PASSENGER RESTRAINTS, AS I SEE THIS IS A PRETTY EXPENSIVE REPAIR. I HAVE LOOKED AT THIS SITE AS WELL AS OTHERS AND SEE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM, AND HAVE TO WONDER WHY THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ON THIS PART. WHY AREN'T SAFETY FEATURES ALWAYS COVERED IN ALL CARS, AS LONG AS THEY ARE ON THE ROAD? *TR

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO RECALL NOTICE RELATED TO FLOOR MATS *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED HE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE THAT STATED AN INCOMPATIBLE DRIVER'S SIDE FLOOR MAT WOULD BE REPLACED IF NECESSARY AND THAT THE CARPETS WOULD BE CLEANED. THE CONSUMER STATED HE SIGNED A WORK ORDER AUTHORIZING THE REPAIR. THE NEXT DAY, THE CONSUMER COMPLAINED TO THE DEALERSHIP, THAT NO CARPET MODIFICATIONS HAD TAKEN PLACE AND THE CARPET WAS DIRTY. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS TOO HIGH TO THE POINT THAT HE WAS HAVING DECREASED CONTROL OVER THE ACCELERATOR MECHANISM. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING, CAUSING HER TO CRASH INTO A TREE. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE UNTIL THE CONTACT PLACED THE VEHICLE INTO PARK. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, NOR WAS THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. NO ISSUES HAVE OCCURRED WITH MY TRUCK UNTIL NOW. JUST RECENTLY THE AIR BAG LIGHT ON MY 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA SR5 4X4 CAME ON FOR A FEW SECONDS WHEN TURNING THE TRUCK ON, IT STAYED ON FOR A FEW MOMENTS, LONGER THAN USUAL THEN TURNED OFF. WHILE DRIVING THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND WOULD NOT GO OFF. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP; THEY SAY THIS IS A SPIRAL CABLE ISSUE - COST TO FIX IS $400.00. TRUCK HAS APPROXIMATELY 76000 MILES ON IT. DOING MORE RESEARCH ON TOYOTA TACOMA DISCUSSION FORUMS ONLINE THERE ARE A FEW 100 OTHER PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT HAVE THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE. THIS IS DEFINITELY A RECALL AND A SAFETY ISSUE, THE DEALERSHIP LET ME KNOW WHEN I TOOK MY TRUCK IN THAT THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY WITHOUT FIXING THIS ISSUE. MY TRUCK IS PRACTICALLY STILL NEW, I HAVE NEVER HAD AN ISSUE LIKE THIS BEFORE WITH ANY OF MY OTHER VEHICLES. I WILL BE SENDING A LETTER TO TOYOTA ABOUT THIS ISSUE AS WELL. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS. WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES AND COMING TO A STOP THE TACOMA SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND FLEW OVER TWO GOOD SIZE BOULDERS A CAST IRON FIRE PIT AND CAME TO A REST AFTER HITTING A SOLID CONCRETE PICNIC TABLE. A REPORT WAS FILED WITH COHO CAMPGROUND HOSTS ACTING AS TO GO ON FILE WITH THE WASHINGTON STATE FORESTRY DEPARTMENT. THIS EVEN OCCURRED AT THE WYNOOCHEE DAM AND RESERVOIR LOCATED IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST OF WASHINGTON STATE. THE TRUCK WAS REMANDED TO TOYOTA OF OLYMPIA WASHINGTON AND THE INSURANCE CARRIER WAS NOTIFIED. THE TRUCK WAS DUE FOR THE WELL DOCUMENTED TOYOTA FLOOR MAT, GAS PEDAL AND BRAKING ACCELERATION OVERRIDE MODIFICATION. NOW LISTEN CAREFULLY HERE...THE FLOOR MATS WERE HEAVY DUTY RUBBER NON-TOYOTA BRAND MATS. THEY WERE NOT IMPEDING THE GAS PEDAL IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM. THE TRUCK ACCELERATED INSTANTLY WHILE BRAKING AND ALMOST AT A DEAD STOP. REVIEW OF NHTSA FINDINGS ON THIS ISSUE ARE SHOCKING. I DID NOT HIT THE ACCELERATOR BY MISTAKE, THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN THE SIZE, FEEL AND CONSISTENCY OF THESE TWO INCREDIBLY DIFFERENT PEDALS. MANY CHILDREN AND CAMPERS WERE PRESENT IN THIS CAMPGROUND, THE SHEER LUCK THAT NO ONE WAS KILLED IS A MATTER OF FATE. AS A FORMALLY TRAINED OBSERVER AND TROUBLESHOOTER OF AIRCRAFT ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS, IT IS MY OPINION THAT THIS VEHICLE DELIVERED UNINITIATED STIMULUS TO THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL SYSTEM. I AM 100% POSITIVE ABOUT THIS FINDING AS I PERSONALLY EXPERIENCED THIS FAILURE WITH A CLEAR MIND AND EXCELLENT VANTAGE POINT. I HAVE NOW BEEN THROUGH THE ENTIRE TOYOTA PROCESS AND HAVE HAD ALL RECALLS AND INVESTIGATIONS PERFORMED. DAMAGE FROM THE ACCIDENT DUE TO SUA HAS BEEN REPAIRED. TOYOTA FINDINGS WERE CONCLUSIVE. THEY DID NOT RECOGNIZE THE CODE AND CHARGED ME $59.50 STATING THAT THEY WOULD CALL BACK AFTER SPEAKING WITH TECHNICAL SUPPORT. LATER THEY SAID THE PROBLEM IS THE SPIRAL CABLE AND QUOTED ME $562.44 TO REPLACE IT. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED IN JULY 2011 AT 59,000 MILES. I PLAN TO FIX IT SOON FOR 2 REASONS: MY LIFE IS WORTH MORE THAN $562 AND I BELIEVE IN VIRGINIA THE LIGHT NEEDS TO BE OFF TO PASS THE YEARLY STATE INSPECTION. AFTER A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH OF THE PROBLEM, I CAME ACROSS MULTIPLE FORUMS WITH USERS WHO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. SOME WERE LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM OCCUR WITHIN THE WARRANTY PERIOD BUT OTHERS, SUCH AS MYSELF, WERE ASKED TO PAY UPWARDS OF $800 FOR NEW HOUSINGS. AFTER LOOKING AT THE BULBS, I NOTICED THAT EVEN THE HOUSINGS FOR THE BULBS ARE SHOWING BURN MARKS. ON THE ROAD I HAVE SEEN AT LEAST 8 DIFFERENT TOYOTA TACOMAS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, THEIR LENSES ARE EITHER BUBBLING UP AND BURNING, OR FULLY CRACKED. SPIRAL CABLE DIAGNOSED AS NEEDING REPLACEMENT BY A TOYOTA DEALER IN MAY OF 2011, REPLACED BY AN INDEPENDANT REPAIR FACILITY IN DECEMBER OF 2011. A RECALL NOTICE WAS SENT OUT REGARDING THIS ISSUE SHORTLY AFTER I HAD THE REPAIRS MADE. I SENT TOYOTA COPIES OF MY RECEIPTS TO GET REIMBURSED IN MAY OF 2016. TOYOTA WILL NOT REIMBURSE ME FOR THE REPAIRS SINCE THE REPAIR ORDER OF THE INDEPENDENT REPAIR FACILITY DID NOT DO A DIAGNOSIS. I DID NOT ASK THEM TO, SINCE TOYOTA HAD ALREADY DONE SO. THE SYMPTOM OF THE ISSUE WAS A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD THAT WAS ALWAYS ON. THE CABLE WOULD WEAR PREMATURELY, CAUSING A SHORT, WHICH CAUSED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.

I BOUGHT AN UNDERCOVER TRUCK TONNEAU COVER TO COVER THE BED OF MY 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA TRUCK. AFTER THREE YEARS OF USE THE COVER DEVELOPED SEVERE FATIGUE CRACKING AROUND THE MOUNTING HINGES. FEARING A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE, WITH THE COVER POSSIBLY FLYING OFF INTO TRAFFIC, I REMOVED THE COVER FROM THE TRUCK. THE FAILURE HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED BY UNDERCOVER AND THE PART REMAINS IN MY POSSESSION. THEIR RESPONSE WAS THAT THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE OR REPAIR THE COVER SINCE IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THAT IT SHOULD BE REMOVED IF I FELT IT WAS A SAFETY HAZARD.
