First notices that volume control on steering wheel and temp and directional display stopped working about a year ago. Now air bag light stays on when car is started and alarm for seat belts quit working.
The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that he took his vehicle to get inspected and was informed that the chassis was extremely corroded and would collapse if the mechanic attempted to jack the vehicle up. The contact became aware that the failure was common. The contact stated that the vehicle was included in a service campaign where rust inhibitor was applied on the chassis of the vehicle however, the treatment failed to prevent the subframe from rusting. The dealer nor the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage 267,000.
This is my second Tacoma. Both cases I’ve found out too late that the frames are shot. Although before I purchased I had it inspected by Toyota shop to identify any problems including frame rot. First one I bought new second used. Both cases I was told I am out of the recall window. My loyalty to your brand is in question. You’ve recognized a problem and on the surface it appears your taking responsibility for it. Then , atleast in my case, don’t. Disappointed starts to describe my feelings on this matter. If you care to make any concessions and retain a Toyota customer reach out to me.
On my last vehicle inspection, the mechanic told me that he will fail me next time due to a rotting frame. This is a serious safety hazard. Through my research, this is a common problem with this year truck (2008) and other years. To my knowledge, I was never contacted by Toyota as far as any recall. This truck still looks new and I am very dissapointed with what I read about this so called "Recall" has expired or about to expire in 2023. I would like very much to have this repaired. I don't know how to go about it.

Hello, I have a 2008 Toyota Tacoma that I bought new from the dealer in 2008. In 2021, around October, I noticed the frame has rusted. After crawling under the truck, I realized this is bad. There were holes in the frame. One of them, I was able to stick my finger in. This is a dangerous condition and I hope there is a fix for it. My truck is in excellent condition with only 80,000 miles on it. I take very good care of it and hope to get another 250,000 miles out of it. Will Toyota fix it?
The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated while performing repairs under the vehicle, he noticed there was a crack on the sub frame and rusting. The dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that they would not replace the sub frame. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that the anti-corrosion coating was already applied to the sub frame. The failure mileage was approximately 284,000.
This vehicle falls under a Toyota "Limited Service Campaign" based on the VIN. Because the vehicle is registered in Arizona my parents never received a notice of this campaign. But this vehicle is now in Indiana and is exposed to issues related to this campaign (Frame Rust - Cold Climate states). To base a campaign on state registration is short sighted and wrong. My parents still reside in Arizona and the vehicle is registered there but it will remain in Indiana as their vehicle for when they visit. I contacted Toyota and asked them to inspect and apply the CRC per the campaign but they have refused. Would ask the NTSB to review this campaign and cover all customer vehicles that might have exposure to cold climate not limited to registration state. If we would have been made aware of this we would have acted sooner but again, no one from Toyota informed us of the issue.
The issued with my truck is the rust in the frame underneath, I purchased the truck in August of 2020. I didn't noticed any issued until I went to get the safety inspection done in June 2021 and it failed. The mechanic showed me the problem so I went to a body shop to get some metal added to the frame and got it reinspect it and it passed. After doing some research on these trucks saw that there was a recalled for almost 10 years from Toyota but it ended in March 2021. Now, this year when my inspection was due the same problem occur; it failed again. It seems like this problem will continue every year, I would like to know if there's anyway this recall can be reopen after talking to some mechanics they seem to still run in to these Tacoma Trucks showing up with this rusted frame problem. I hope it never happens but there's always the possibility of hitting a nasty pothole on the highway and who knows what might happen. I considered this a huge safety issue. I bought the truck as is from a small used car dealer, which of course did not tell me about this problem. I have spent almost $1,500 to get it to just pass inspection and this problem will never go away.
GAS TANK SUPPORT RUSTED OUT CAUSING THE GAS TANK TO FALL OFF THE TRUCK

I HAD TO BRING MY 2008 TOYOTA TACOMA IN TO GET SERVICED . I RECEIVED A CALL REGARDING THE STATE OF THE FRAME. THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THE ARE MULTIPLE SPOT ON THE FRAME WITH BAD RUST DAMAGE AND SOME OF THE CROSS MEMBERS ARE MISSING WHERE THEY ATTACH TO THE FRAME AND SAID IT WOULD NOT PASS STATE INSPECTION. IN 2015 THE TRUCK WAS RESPRAYED TO PROTECT THE FARME WHICH LASTED ABOUT 1 MONTH. AT THIS POINT THE FRAME WILL NOT LAST ANOTHER YEAR.
TOOK TRUCK IN FOR INSPECTION MECHANIC SAID FRAME IS ROTTED OUT TOYOTA SAID THAT THERE'S NO RECALL PENDING ON THIS VEHICLE

I HAD 2 PREVIOUS RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE TO CHECK FOR A RUSTED FRAME. . . . WHEN I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE I HAD IT UNDER COATED AND OF COURSE IT PASSED THE TWO INSPECTIONS. .THE UNDERCOATING HAS NOW FLAKED OFF SO NOW THE FRAME HAS RUSTED THROUGH . . I TOOK IT TO A BODY SHOP AND HAD A PATCH WELDED ON TO THE FRAME. . . TOYOTA NOW SAYS THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE FOR A RUSTED FRAME. . . I HAVE TO QUESTION THIS AFTER RECEIVING THE TWO PREVIOUS RECALLS. . .

THERE WAS A FRAME INSPECTION FOR REPAIR NOTICE FOR MY TACOMA FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS. I JUST FOUND OUT ABOUT IT WHEN MY FATHER SOLD IT TO ME. HE DID NOT REALIZE THERE A RECALL BECAUSE THEY LOOK LIKE ALL THE OTHER SCAMS THAT PREY ON THE ELDERLY. I WAS SUPPOSED RECEIVED OWNERSHIP OF THIS TRUCK IN MARCH OF THIS YEAR, THEN COVID 19 HIT. I WAS SENT HE FROM WORK AND TOLD I COULDN'T GO FURTHER THAN MY COMMUTING DISTANCE FROM MY GOVERNOR HERE IN MAINE. I FINALLY RECEIVED THE TRUCK ON APRIL BECAUSE MY FATHER LIVES 100 MILES FROM ME. THEN HAD TO WAIT FOR MY TOWN OFFICE TO OPEN IN JUNE TO REGISTER IT. FINALLY BROUGHT IT TO TOYOTA TO GET SOME OTHER RECALLS TAKEN CARE OF ON JUNE AND THEY NOTIFIED ME THAT I HAVE SEPARATION IN MY FRAME. TOO BAD BECAUSE TOYOTA WAS FIXING AND REPLACING SUCH FRAMES BIT IT EXPIRED THE MIDDLE OF APRIL. I CONTACTED TOYOTA TO SEE IF THE COULD POSSIBLY EXTEND THE PROGRAM BECAUSE OF COVID 19. IT TOOK 3 HOURS ON THE PHONE AND THEY CAME BACK TWO WEEKS LATER SAYING THEY WOULD NOT COVER MY TRUCK. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. FIRST OFF TOYOTA JUST ASSUME THAT WHEN A TRUCK HITS 12 YEARS OLD THAT IT'S OK FOR THEIR FRAMES TO FAIL. THEY ALSO DON'T CONSIDER A SHUT DOWN STATE A GOOD ENOUGH REASON TO EXTEND THIS COVERAGE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER TAKING THE VEHICLE IN FOR INSPECTION AT AUTO NATION, HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE'S SUBFRAME WAS CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS COATED WITH A PROTECTIVE SEALANT TO AVOID FURTHER CORROSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE NOTICED MORE CORROSION TO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER MALLOY TOYOTA (400 WEEMS LN #3609, WINCHESTER, VA 22601; (540) 678-1791) WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE SUBFRAME HAD ROTTED THROUGH AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 199,773.
RUNAWAY VEHICLE REPORTED FRIDAY, 04/24/2020. HAPPENED AGAIN FRIDAY 05/01/2020, AND TODAY 05/04/2020. SIX TIMES NOW I HAVE REPORTED. FRIDAY AND TODAY I WAS BACKING OUT OF DRIVEWAY. STARTED UP, HAD FOOT ON BRAKE, PUT IN REVERSE, AND THROTTLE WENT WIDE OPEN. TURNED SWITCH OFF, PUT IN PARK, AND STARTED UP. ALL OK.THOUGHT A/C COMPRESSOR MIGHT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH ELECTRONICS, BUT A/C WAS OFF ON 05/01/20. I HAVE A ELECTRO / MECHANICS TECH DEGREE AND HAVE WORKED IN APPLIANCE SHOP OVER 15 YEARS. WORKED IN VEHICLE SHOPS OVER 25 YEARS. CURRENTLY SCHOOL BUS PARTS SPECIALIST FOR GWINNETT BOE. I KNOW FROM INTERNET THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT NOBODY WANTS TO FIX. I HAVE WRITTEN TO SENATOR, CONGRESSMAN, TOYOTA CORP AMERICA. THEY WANT TO BLAME PROBLEM ON FLOOR MATS. AT TIMES I DID NOT HAVE ANY MATS IN. LAST TWO TIME I HAD WEATHER TECH CUSTOM FIT HARD PLASTIC MATS IN VEHICLE. I CAN'T SELL AS-IS, AS I DO NOT WANT ANYONE TO GET KILLED IN IT.SO AS A TAX PAYING AMERICAN, I AM STUCK WITH WHAT EVERYONE KNOWS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT HAS KILLED HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE AND NO ONE CARES. MY WIFE HAS INFO ON REPORT FROM ELECTRONIC ENGINEER FIRM THAT WON CASES IN COURT. I TOLD HER WHEN I DIE IN ACCIDENT, FILE LAW SUIT AGAINST TOYOTA AND US GOVERNMENT AS THEY HAVE BEEN TOLD ABOUT THE PROBLEM. MY TRUCK WENT THREE YEARS WITHOUT DOING THIS. NOW HAS RUN AWAY THREE TIMES IN ONE WEEK! I COULD UPLOAD THE REPORT IF NEEDED, BUT YOU PROBABLY ALREADY HAVE SEVERAL COPIES.
FORTH TIME. SAME SITUATION. WHILE CREEPING ALONG IN DRIVE, WITH FOOT ON BRAKE PEDAL, A/C COMPRESSOR CLICKED ON, ENGINE RPM'S REVVED SLIGHTLY, THEN THROTTLE WENT FULL FORCE. TIRES STARTED SPINNING; BRAKES WOULD NOT HOLD. HAD TO TURN IGNITION SWITCH OFF. TURN BACK ON AND ALL OK. GOVERNMENT KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WITH 2002-2011 TOYOTA'S, AND HAVE FINED THEM HEAVILY. THERE NEEDS TO BE A BRAKE OVERRIDE SYSTEM INSTALLED ON ELECTRONIC THROTTLE SO THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN. VERY DANGEROUS. AND IT DID NOT INVOLVE THE FLOOR MAT AS ONE WAS NOT IN VEHICLE.
STEERING IS VERY DIFFICULT AND VERY STIFF. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE RECALLED AND I SEE MANY OTHER 08 TACOMAS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. WHY HAS THERE BEEN NO RECALL? ALSO STEERING DOES NOT RETURN TO POSITION YOU HAVE TO CONTINUOUSLY TURN IT ON YOUR OWN. I SEE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS AND THERE IS APPARENTLY NO WAY TO FIX IT. I ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT ON MY WAY HOME TODAY BECAUSE I COULDN'T STEER THE TRUCK. DEFINITELY NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. ALL OF THESE COMPLAINTS POINT TO THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. THE STEERING IS VERY DIFFICULT WHEN MOVING AND WHEN STATIONARY. IT DOES IT ON CITY STREETS, HIGHWAYS, ALL THE SAME. AND AT TIMES STEERING WILL BE NORMAL AND YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT. WHEN I TRY TO TURN MY TRUCK WITH THIS PROBLEM IT DOES NOT RESPOND AND THE WHEEL DOES NOT RETURN TO POSITION.
DURING A 60MPH DRIVE OVER HOUSTON SHIP CHANNEL BRIDGE MY VEHICLE START TO STALL MID INCLINE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT PURSUED YIELDING PO171 & PO174. THIS HAS BEEN TROUBLE SOME AND FEAR OF POWER LOST DURING DRIVING. FUEL PRESSURE WAS CHECKED SEVERAL TIMES BUT FINALLY SEEN INTERMITTENT PRESSURE DROP BELOW 20PSI.. THE FUEL PUMP AND DRAINER HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND NOW HAVE DRIVEN 400+ MILES NO CEL. NOTE THE ATTACHMENT OEM REPLACEMENT KIT INFO. I AM CONCERNED OF REPEAT DANGER OF MAJOR STALL DURING DRIVERBILITY.
STEERING IS VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. WHEN MAKING A TURN IT DOES NOT STRAIGHTEN ITSELF OUT IT KEEPS GOING IN THE DIRECTION THAT YOU TURNED. IT IS VERY HARD TO STRAIGHTEN OUT AND HAS BECOME VERY DANGEROUS. THE PROBLEM HAPPENS IN A STATIONARY POSITION, CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAY. BOUGHT MY 08'TOYOTA TACOMA USED 10/21/19. NOT KNOWING ABOUT THE RUST PROBLEM THESE SEEMED TO HAVE. IT HAD 174000 MILES ON IT, AND SO FAR I AM FIRST HAVING TO GET A NEW OIL PAN, (RUST HOLE) IT IS ABOUT A 7+ HOUR JOB BECAUSE THE CROSS MEMBER CAN NOT BE REMOVED . COST WILL BE ABOUT $800.00, WHILE WAITING FOR THAT TO HAPPEN THE REAR AXLE (DIFFERENTIAL) STARTED TO LEAK. ANOTHER RUST HOLE...THE DIFFERENTIAL IS ONE PIECE, NO REMOVABLE COVER. NOW I'M IN FOR A USED ONE AND ADD LABOR IT WILL BE SOME AROUND $1200.00 TO $1500.00 TO FIX...WHAT GIVES, THIS IS WAY OVER THE TOP FOR A 11 YEAR OLD TRUCK! I GOT RID OF MY 2000 FORD RANGER WITH WHEN I BOUGH IT HAD 200,000 MILES ON IT. AT 206,000 WHEN I GOT RID OF IT, NO LEAKS ANYWHERE, THE BODY WAS RUSTED OUT BUT THIS NY. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL PROBLEM LONG AGO AND I ASKING WHY IT WASN'T. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO ON MY END TO GET SOME HELP WITH THIS MAJOR COST. I AM 74 YEARS OLD AND ON SS. AIR BAG FAULT INDICATOR IS ON IMMEDIATELY WHEN VEHICLE IS STARTED , AND DOES NOT GO OFF . VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH THE 16 CHANNEL SPIRAL CABLE. ALSO THE HORN IS INOPERATIVE
MY VEHICLE HAS A LOT OF RUST AREA ON THE BOTTOM FRAME. I AM UNABLE TO PUT A CARJACK TO LIFT THE VEHICLE UP WITHOUT THE FRAME BREAKING. I AM AFRAID IF I NEED TO SWITCH THE TIRE I WONT BE ABLE TO BECAUSE OF ALL THE RUST. I NEED TO PLACE A SIDE STEP RUNNING BOARD ON THIS VEHICLE BUT I AM AFRAID IT MAY BE TOO RUSTED TO HOLD IT. THERE IS SOME RUST ON THE BODY AREA AND I WAS THINKING ABOUT FIXING IT MYSELF BUT THE FRAME MAYBE A LITTLE HARDER TO FIX IF I NEED TO REPLACE THESE PARTS.
THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT U JOINT SEIZES UP OR IS VERY HARD TO TURN AND WILL NOT LET THE STEERING RETURN TO STRAIGHT POSITION. U JOINT IS NOT COVERED AND EXPOSED TO ELEMENTS THEREFORE LETTING IT RUST AND CORRODE. OTHER TOYOTA VEHICLES HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM BUT NOT THE TACOMA.
TRUCK UNINTENTIONALLY ACCELERATES WHEN BRAKING
STEERING FELT LIKE IT LOCKED UP WHEN I WAS TURNING ONTO A BUSY ROAD. VERY STIFF AND HARD TO TURN. DRIVING HOME IT CONTINUED TO BE INTERMITTENTLY HARD, THEN EASY, THEN HARD AGAIN, ALL DURING A SINGLE TURN! CAUSED ME TO HAVE GREAT DIFFICULTY TURNING. RESEARCH PROVES THIS IS A VERY COMMON DEFECT AND I WONDER WHY TOYOTA HAS NOT ACCEPTED RESPONSIBILITY AND ISSUED A RECALL.
TAKATA RECALL THE SPINDAL CABLE IN THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDS REPLACED AND THERE IS A SIMILAR RECALL ON THE SAME MODEL AND YEAR BUT IT DOES NOT APPLY TO MINE.IT SAYS MY AIRBAG MIGHT NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT.
SUN VISOR IS DEFECTED. IT'S NOT WORKING PROPERLY. IT GOES DOWN WHEN IT GOES IN THE UP POSITION.
AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY IN A HIGHWAY ACCIDENT THAT LED TO A ROLLOVER AND SEVERE BODILY INJURIES.
I HAVEN'T BEEN CONTACTED FROM THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK FROM ABOUT ANY RECALLS... I NEED TO GET THE 3 RECALLS DONE ON MY TRUCK ASAP
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD ALL OF A SUDDEN THE STEERING IS FROZEN MEANING I LOSE ALL MY STEERING. IT LOCKS UP WHEN STEERING LEFT OR RIGHT.
WHILE OPERATING THIS VEHICLE ON MY PROPERTY IN 4WD THE TRANSFER CASE BECAME STUCK IN 4WD. IT STILL IS STUCK IN 4WD AND WON'T RETURN TO 2WD AS IT SHOULD. I'VE BEEN FORCED TO REMOVE THE FRONT DRIVESHAFT (NO EASY TASK) TO PREVENT UNNECESSARY WEAR AND TEAR ON THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL. AFTER READING NUMEROUS FORUMS RELATING TO THIS SUBJECT I'VE DETERMINED THAT THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH THIS MODEL TRANSFER CASE.
I PURCHASED MY 2008 TOYOTA TACOMA IN 2010 WITH 39,000 MILES ON IT. IN EARLY 2018, I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM TOYOTA THAT MY TRUCK NEEDED TO HAVE THE FRAME INSPECTED. I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN LEESBURG, VA AND HAD THE FRAME INSPECTED AND TREATED WITH SOME TYPE OF BLACK TREATMENT. THIS SUBSTANCE NEVER COMPLETELY ADHERED TO THE FRAME AND WASHED OFF. THIS IS APPARENT IN THE ATTACHED PHOTOS. I EXPRESSED A CONCERN ABOUT REOCCURRING RUST IN APRIL 2020 WITH THE TOYOTA DEALER AND THEY DIRECTED ME TO CALL TOYOTA DIRECTLY. I THEN OPENED A CASE WITH TOYOTA, CASE #2004082516 AND WAS UNABLE TO GET THE FRAME RE-INSPECTED DUE TO COVID. RECENTLY IN 2021 DURING A REGULAR SERVICE, THE TECHNICIAN BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION LARGE GAPING HOLES IN THE FRAME. THE TECHNICIAN SAID THAT THE FRAME WOULD NOT PASS VA STATE SAFETY INSPECTION WHICH IS DUE IN APRIL 2021. I AM NOW LEFT WITH A VEHICLE THAT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND OF NO VALUE.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER INDEPENDENCE TOYOTA (730 AIRPORT RD, HAZLETON, PA 18202) AND THEY STATED THAT THE LEAF SPRINGS ON THE REAR SUSPENSION WERE NOT DAMAGED. THE CONTACT TOOK HIS VEHICLE IN FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE AT ANOTHER UNKNOWN DEALER AND THE LEAFS WERE DISCOVERED TO BE FRACTURED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER INDEPENDENCE TOYOTA AND THIS TIME THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE LEAFS WERE FRACTURED AND REPAIRED THE VEHICEL UNDER THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 139,000.
HARD STEERING. AT LOW SPEEDS AND NOT MOVING
THE AIRBAG/ SEATBELT SIGNAL SHOWS UP IN DASHBOARD . OBVIOUSLY SOMETHING IS WRONG. IT COMES ON APON STARTING AND STAYS ON. THEN AFTER TURNING OFF THEN BACK ON ITS NOT SHOWING. WHAT GIVES ?
STIFF STEERING WHEN DRIVING AT A LOWER SPEED AND WORSE MAKING A U TURN OR ANY SHARP TURN. THE STEER DOESN'T ROLL BACK AS NORMALLY WHEN I MAKE A U TURN AND I HAD TO BE QUICK TO STEER IN BACK IN TIME TO PREVENT HITTING THE MEDIAN. THE STEER LITERALLY GET STUCK . I HAVE CHANGED THE STEERING PUMP AND HAVE ALSO CHANGED THE RACK AND PINION BUT THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE .WASTED OVER A THOUSAND DOLLAR ON PARTS AND LABOR.
IT SUDDENLY BECAME HARD TO STEER, IT WOULD TURN EASILY (NORMAL EFFORT) PART OF THE WAY, AND FEEL STIFF OR TIGHT PART OF THE WAY. THIS PROBLEM STARTED OFF INTERMITTENTLY BUT THEN BECAME CONSTANT. NOT ONLY WAS IT RISKY MAKING A TURN BECAUSE AT FIRST YOU APPLIED MORE FORCE THAN NORMAL AND SUDDENLY IT BECAME EASIER TO TURN CAUSING OVERSTEER. IT DID NOT WANT TO SEEM TO RETURN TO STRAIGHT WHEN YOU FINISHED THE TURN. THIS PROBLEM WAS THERE WHETHER YOU WENT FAST OR SLOW AND ON ALL SURFACES. THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT. WE PAID NEARLY $500 TO FIX SOMETHING THAT PROBABLY SHOULD NEVER HAVE GONE BAD.
VEHICLE STATIONARY IN DRIVEWAY. TIRES ARE THE SAME SPECS AS ORIGINAL TIRES. WHEN TIRES ARE INFLATED TO RECOMMENDED PRESSURE (DOOR PLACARD) THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT COMES ON. I CONSULTED WITH 3 DIFFERENT TOYOTA DEALERS REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. NO ONE WAS ABLE TO GIVE ME AN ANSWER. MEANWHILE, OVER INFLATION IS REQUIRED TO KEEP WARNING SYSTEM OFF. WHAT IS THE CORRECT TIRE PRESSURE??? OVER / UNDER INFLATION IS A SAFETY RISK. AN INACCURATE WARNING SYSTEM IS ALSO A SAFETY RISK.
UPON ARRIVAL AT THE LOCAL LAUNDRY MAT I HEARD WHAT ALMOST SOUNDED LIKE A LOW CALIBER GIUN SHOR SECONDS LATER THERE WAS HEAVY BROWN SMOKE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THEN SECONDS AFTER THAT TWO FOOT FLAMES CONSUMED THE FRONT BUMPER. THE FOG LIGHT WIRING HARNESS MELTED AND THE HEAT WAS SO INTENSE IT CAUSED THE BUMPER TO CATCH FIRE. CALLED TOYOTA AND WAS HOPEFUL THEY WOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR NEGLIGENCE. BUT AFTER SENDING AN OVER PAID INVESTIGATOR WHO FLAT OUT LIED ABOUT MODIFICATIONS DONE ON THE TRUCK( WRONG) TOYOTA THEN TRIE TO TELL NE I WAS THE SECOND OWNER ON THE VEHICLE SO THAT ON TOP OF PHANTOM MODS PRECLUDES TOYOTA OF ANY RESPONSIBILITY. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY TOYOTA YOU'VE DONE NOTHING BUT LIE ABOUT THIS INCIDENT THAT COULD HAVE POTENTIALLY BEEN A DEATH TRAP!*DT *AS
STEARING GOT STIFF DUE TO STEALING SHAFT LINKAGE. MANY INTERNET STORES ABOUT THIS . THIS TRUCK EVEN THOUGH 10 YEARS OLD ONLY HAS 140,000 MILES ON IT. THE U JOINT OF THE PART HAS RUSTED BADLY. THIS IS A POOR DESIGN.
FRONT AXLE SHAFT VARATION.
STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN I LEFT OR RIGHT WHILE DRIVING. TOOK VEHICLE TO TOYOTA SERVICE DEPT. THEY FOUND THAT THE JOINT ON THE LOWER PART OF THE STEERING SHAFT WAS WORN. THEY RECOGNIZED THIS SAME PREMATURE PART FAILURE ON MANY OTHER 2ND GENERATION TACOMAS SUCH AS MINE. THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE THIS ISSUE COULD HAVE CAUSED ME TO HAVE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
