TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V604000 (FUEL SYSTEM, BODY); HOWEVER, THE PART FOR THE RECALL REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
STIFF STEERING. STEERING SHAFT KNUCKLE IS EXPOSED AND CORRODES RESULTING IN THE STIFF STEERING. STARTS OUTS AS INTERMITTENT. OCCURS AT ANY SPEED, TURNING RIGHT OR LEFT, ALL ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS. VERY UNSAFE. WIDELY KNOWN ISSUE
THE PAINT ON MY 2009 TOYOTA TACOMA STARTED TO FAIL ABOUT A YEAR AGO APPROX. MARCH 2017. IT STARTED ON THE HOOD WITH SLIGHT CRACKING THAT LED TO PEELING THAT LED TO IT'S CURRENT CONDITION WHICH IS BARE METAL IN LARGE AREAS. THE ROOF WAS THE NEXT AREA TO HAVE THE PAINT FAIL AND IT IS THE SAME SCENARIO AS THE HOOD. THE REST OF THE TRUCK IS STARTING TO FAIL BUT NOT AS BAD AS THE ROOF AND HOOD. THE PAINT COLOR IS DARK CHARCOAL. RUST SPOTS HAVE ALSO STARTED TO FORM WHERE THERE IS BARE METAL. THE TRUCK HAS 66,000 MILES ON IT. THE TRUCK IS A FLORIDA VEHICLE AND HAS NEVER LEFT THE STATE.
STEERING VERY STIFF, DOES NOT RETURN TO CENTER, LOCKS UP, FAILS TO MAINTAIN DIRECTION. THE UNIVERSAL JOINT ON THE STEERING COLUMN-STEERING GEAR IS NOT PROTECTED FROM THE ELEMENTS (ROAD SALT, WATER, ETC.) AND HAS SEIZED, CAUSING THE STEERING TO LOCK UP AND LEADING TO A MINOR ACCIDENT.
I WAS GOING INTO A TURN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE STEERING GOT VERY STIFF I HAD A HARD TIME STEERING THE TRUCK. I ALMOST HIT A GUARDRAIL. HAD A MECHANIC CHECK THE TRUCK. HE FOUND OUT THE UNIVERSAL JOINT ON THE STEERING WAS VERY STIFF. HE WAS SURPRISED TOYOTA HAS NO BOOT COVERING THIS LIKE GM DOES. HE CLEAN THE UNIVERSAL AND COVERED WITH A GREASE. NOW WHEN THE STIFFENS COMES BACK I SPRAY WITH A PENETRATING OIL THEN RE-GREASE THE STEERING UNIVERSAL. I HAVE DONE A GOOGLE SEARCH AND THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH TOYOTA. I AM SURPRISED THEIR IS NO RECALL OR ANY MAJOR ACCIDENTS YET.
I HAVE BEEN WAITING SINCE 9/24/2014 FOR YOU TO MAKE TOYOTA ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR VEHICLES. IT IS NOW 1/23/2017 AND YOU HAVE NOT DONE A [XXX] THING! I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED FROM A DEALER IN JAN SECOND WITH 155185 MILES I LET THE DEALER KNOW ABOUT THE BRAKES WERE TO HARD WE BOUGHT THE TRUCK AND ON THURSDAY 1/12/17 MY WIFE TOOK THE TRUCK TO WORK THAT EVENING AFTER GETTING HOME SHE TOLD ME THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR SO I TOOK IT TO MY REPAIR SHOP ON 1/13/17 TO CHECK IT OUT THEY PUT THE COMPUTER ON TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE ABS UNIT I ALSO LOST THE BRAKES TAKING IT TO THE REPAIR SHOP HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD THAN WENT REAL SLOW AND PULLED IT INTO THEIR SHOP ALSO THERE WAS NO WARRANTY WITH THE TRUCK THE WARRANTY THEY HAD WAS TO HIGH SO NOW ITS GOING TO COST ME OVER 3000 DOLLARS CAUSE THE WHOLE UNIT MUST REPLACED I JUST NEEDED TO KNOW AND YOU KNOW IF THERE WAS ANY OTHER COMPLAINTS OR PROBLEMS WITH THAT YEAR AND MODEL I HAVE HAD 6 TOYOTA VEHICLES AND NEVER HAD THIS TO HAPPEN THANK YOU OH YES THIS WAS ON A CITY ROAD GOING STRAIGHT AND IN MOTION. *TR
THE UNIVERSAL JOINT ON THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT BECAME CORRODED, CAUSING THE JOINT TO BIND AND CAUSE STEERING TO BECOME EXTREMELY STIFF.
NEARLY BRAND NEW TIRE (LESS THAN 3000 MILES) SIDEWALL EXPLODED ON THE HIGHWAY (50 MPH). TOYO, THE MANUFACTURER HAS DONE NOTHING TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. I'VE BEEN BLOWN OFF, AND HAD MY JUDGEMENT QUESTIONED. THIS IS A MAJOR PUBLIC SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. TIRE MODEL IS OPEN COUNTRY R/T (NOT LISTED UNDER OPTIONS).
NHTSA RECALL NUMBER: OPENS NEW WINDOW TAKES AWAY FROM VIN LOOKUP SECTION> 14V604 RECALL DATE: SEPTEMBER 29, 2014 MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBER: E02 SUMMARY: THE SUBJECT VEHICLES? REAR SUSPENSION SYSTEM CONTAINS LEAF SPRINGS THAT ARE CONSTRUCTED OF EITHER THREE OR FOUR LEAVES. THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT A LEAF COULD FRACTURE DUE TO STRESS AND CORROSION. IF THIS OCCURS AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO BE OPERATED, THE BROKEN LEAF COULD MOVE OUT OF POSITION AND CONTACT SURROUNDING COMPONENTS, INCLUDING THE FUEL TANK. SAFETY RISK: IF THE BROKEN LEAF CONTACTS THE FUEL TANK REPEATEDLY, IT COULD PUNCTURE THE TANK AND CAUSE A FUEL LEAK. IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, THIS COULD RESULT IN A FIRE. REMEDY: TOYOTA WILL REPLACE THE LEAF SPRINGS WITH NEWLY DESIGNED ONES. RECALL STATUS: RECALL INCOMPLETE MANUFACTURER NOTES:
MY 09 TACOMA VIBRATED AT CERTAIN SPEEDS AND SLIGHTLY SWERVED GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY CAUSING INSTABILITY AND LACK OF CONTROL. ALSO HEARD SOME CLANKING IN THE REAR END. UPON EXAMINATION THE REAR LEAF SPRINGS IN BOTH SIDES WERE BROKEN. ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC ONE SPRING WAS ACTUALLY RUBBING THE TIRE . TOYOTA HAD NUMEROUS RECALLS FOR TACOMA REAR LEAF SPRINGS BECAUSE THEY WERE BREAKING. HOWEVER, WHEN I CALLED TOYOTA THEY TOLD ME MY VEHICLE CAME FROM A DIFFERENT PLANT AND DID NOT QUALIFY. I NEVER ABUSED THIS VEHICLE NO REASON FOR THIS ISSUE THEY SHOULD ADD THIS PLANT TO THE RECALL LIST TO AVOID ACCIDENT AND INJURY. I SHOULD DISCLOSE THAT I HAD TWO BAD WHEEL BEARINGS AS WELL WHICH MAY HAVE RESULTED FROM THE STRESS CAUSED BY THE LEAF SPRINGS. JUST DON'T KNOW. HOWEVER, NOT JUST A COINCIDENCE THAT BOTH SPRINGS BROKE ON A TACOMA THAT IS WELL KNOWN FOR THIS PROBLEM. THANK YOU *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO BE REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V604000 (SUSPENSION). THE DEALER STATED THAT THE REPAIR COULD NOT BE COMPLETED DUE TO MODIFICATIONS ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO UN-MODIFY THE VEHICLE TO REMEDY THE RECALL. AFTERWARDS, IT COULD BE MODIFIED AGAIN AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
I CONTACTED TOYOTA ON 8/10/16 TO REPORT A BROKEN LEAF SPRING (CURRENTLY ON A RECALL LIST). THE REP WAS FRIENDLY, BUT I WAS TOLD I HAD TO GO TO A DEALER TO HAVE IT REPLACED. THE TRANSFERRED ME TO THE DEALER AND THEN TO THE PARTS OFFICE WHO TOLD ME THAT IT WOULD TAKE 6 WEEKS TO GET THE PART. ONE OF THE PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS RECALL IS THAT THERE IS A CHANCE THAT THE BROKEN LEAF SPRING MOVES AND HITS THE GAS TANK AND CAUSES A FIRE. WHEN I ASKED IF I COULD TAKE IT TO A LEAF SPRING REPLACEMENT COMPANY, I WAS TOLD THAT I COULD, BUT TOYOTA MAY NOT REIMBURSE ME. THEN IN THE NEXT BREATH, THE REP TELLS ME HOW IMPORTANT TOYOTA PUTS SAFETY. REALLY? THEY WANT ME TO DRIVE AROUND FOR 6 WEEKS AND TAKE A CHANCE IN CAUSING A FIRE IN MY VEHICLE INSTEAD OF TAKING IT TO A KNOWLEDGEABLE REPAIR COMPANY.
WHEEL BEARINGS AND HUB ASSEMBLY: SOON AFTER I TOOK MY TRUCK TO A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE REAR LEAF SPRINGS REPLACED UNDER A RECALL, THE TRUCK STARTED RIDING ROUGH AND SQUEAKING LOUDLY AS IT WAS DRIVEN. I WENT BACK TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP AND THEY QUOTED ME NEAR $2,000 TO REPLACE. THE TRUCK SEEMS TO RIDE ROUGHER WITH EACH PASSING DAY. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THE FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS WERE FINE BUT BOTH OF THE REAR WHEEL BEARINGS ARE BAD AND THEY FURTHER SAID THAT THEY NORMALLY REPLACE THE HUB ASSEMBLY WITH THE WHEEL BEARINGS AND THAT WAS PART OF THE REASON FOR THE HIGH COST ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE REP.
I AM STILL WAITING FOR A SOLUTION TO THE DEFECTIVE LEAF SPRING REPLACEMENT ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE. TOYOTA HAS NEGLECTED PROVIDE AN UPDATE OR REPLACEMENT LEAF-SPRING SOLUTION TO THE NOTED ISSUE.

STEERING BECOMES INTERMITTENTLY 'STIFF'. COMPLAINT HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED MANY TIMES BY OWNERS ON FORUMS AND OTHER ON-LINE SITES. APPARENTLY THIS IS A DESIGN ISSUE THAT ALLOWS THE LOWER STEERING JOINT TO SUFFER ACCELERATED CORRODED BY NORMAL USE. DEALERS AND TOYOTA DO NOT ACKNOWLEDGE IT IS A MANUFACTURING ISSUE THAT CAN CAUSE/CREATE SAFETY ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE. PROBLEM OCCURS INTERMITTENTLY AT ANY SPEED OF CAN ALSO OCCUR WHEN ATTEMPTING TO TURN STEERING WHEEL WHEN VEHICLE IS STOPPED. PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND VARIOUS DEGREES OF SEVERITY.
I RECEIVED A NOTICE OF RECALL OVER A YEAR AGO, BUT ONLY GOT THE ACTUAL RECALL NOTICE ABOUT A MONTH AGO. I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE REAR LEAF SPRINGS REPLACED AT TOYOTA OF POWAY. WHEN I ARRIVED FOR THE APPOINTMENT I WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT HAVE THE RECALL PARTS! I CALLED THE TOYOTA CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE LINE AND DESPITE WHAT THE RECALL LETTER SAID, I WAS TOLD THAT THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT HAVE THE PARTS AND THAT THE DEALERSHIP WOULD ONLY DO AN INSPECTION FIRST. I AM COMPLAINING BECAUSE OF THE IN ACCURATE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE RECALL LETTER AND BECAUSE THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP APPARENTLY HAS NO IDEA HOW TO REMEDY THE ISSUE.

CUSTOMER: [XXX] TOOK CAR TO TOYOTA RICHARDSON IN RICHARDSON TX FOR BRAKE AND RECALL REPAIR IN JUNE 2016. THEY GLADLY FIXED THE BREAKS FOR $600 BUCKS, BUT HAD TO ORDER PARTS FOR THE RECALL AND CALL ME WHEN READY. LEFT A BAD REVIEW ON THEIR REQUESTED CUSTOMER SURVEY BECAUSE IT FELT LIKE A "BAIT AND SWITCH" . WAS CALLED BY SVC DEPT MANAGER. HE ASSURED ME THAT THEY WOULD ORDER THE PARTS AND CALL ME. I NEVER GOT THE CALL. I CALLED THEM ON MARCH 2, 2017 TO FIND THE STATUS OF PARTS, AND NO PARTS WERE ORDERED. NO GUARANTEE THAT THEY WILL HONOR THE SAFETY RECALL. I HAVE ATTACHED A COPY OF THE 1ST PAGE OF THE INVOICE DOCUMENTING THAT THE TRUCK WAS DELIVERED FOR THE REPAIRS THAT I HAVE MENTIONED ABOVE. *DL

THE VEHICLE NO LONGER MET THE MANUFACTURER'S GROSS LOAD SPECIFICATIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED OF THE POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
NEW BRUNSWICK CANADA BOUGHT THE 2009 TOYOTA TACHOMA 4X4 EXTENDED CAB-OFF ROAD TRUCK LAST MAY 2-16 AT SAINT JOHN TOYOTA AND SHORTLY AFTER NOTICED THAT SOME TIMES THE STEERING WOULD GET STIFF AND IT FELT LIKE MANUAL STEERING. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOTING WRONG. WHEN ON THE HIGHWAY AND COMING TO A TURN I GRIP THE WHEEL WITH 2 HANDS AND BACK OF ON THE GAS. IN MARCH I HAD THE FRONT SHAFT CHANGED AND ON APRIL 7TH I HAD A NEW RACK AND PINION AND PRESSURE LINE FROM STEERING PUMP AND STEEL LINES ON THE PUMP REPLACED IT COST ME $1,200.00. I DROVE ABOUT 20 KILOMETERS AND THE STEERING WORKED GREAT AND I SHUT IT OFF AND WHEN I STARTED HOME IT WENT STIFF AGAIN. I'M HAVE BEEN AFRAID THAT IF SEIZES UP I'LL BE OFF THE ROAD OR HAVE A HEAD ON COLLISION. THE DAY I BOUGHT THE TRUCK I WAS INFORMED BY A TOYOTA EMPLOYEE THAT THEY HAD JUST RECEIVED A RECALL ON THE REAR LEAF SPRINGS AND THEY REPLACED THEM THAT DAY. IF YOU ARE NOT THE FIRST OWNER DOES ANYONE FROM TOYOTA CONTACT YOU?

LACK OF ALIGNMENT DURING TOYOTA SAFETY RECALL E02 / NHTSA RECALL ID 14V 604 I AM CONCERNED WITH THE LACK OF VEHICLE ALIGNMENT AS AN INCLUDED PART OF E02 POST REPLACEMENT OF THE REAR SPRING PACKS. WHEN THE REAR SPRINGS ARE REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE, THE REAR AXLE OFTEN SHIFTS SUCH THAT IS IT NO LONGER IN THE SAME POSITION AS IT WAS PREVIOUSLY INSTALLED. THUS THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER PROPERLY ALIGNED, AS FRONT TOE IS SET BASED ON THE THRUST ANGLE OF THE REAR AXLE. THE THRUST ANGLE IS DERIVATIVE OF THE ALIGNMENT OF THE AXLE RELATIVE TO THE LONGITUDINAL AXIS OF THE VEHICLE, AND CREATES A MOMENT ABOUT THE YAW AXIS OF THE VEHICLE. RE-ALIGNMENT OF THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE PROVIDES CORRECTIVE MEASURE BY SETTING FRONT WHEEL TOE TO ACCOUNT FOR THE POSITION OF THE REAR AXLE, THUS ENSURING THE VEHICLE TRACKS CORRECTLY AND IS STABLE DURING DYNAMIC MANEUVERS. WHEN THE TACOMA FIRST ENTERED THE SERVICING DEALER IT WAS CONFIRMED TO BE CORRECTLY ALIGNED. HOWEVER, THE PRE-ALIGNMENT NUMBERS ON THE HUNTER EXPRESSALIGN SHEET SHOW THAT THE REAR AXLE POSITION AFTER PERFORMING E02 HAS SHIFTED -0.15 [ISO] ABOUT ITS VERTICAL AXIS RELATIVE TO THE POSITION PRIOR TO REAR SPRING REPLACEMENT. FAILURE TO HAVE THE TACOMA REALIGNED WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN THE NEED TO COUNTER-STEER THE VEHICLE TO MAINTAIN A STRAIGHT TRAJECTORY DURING NORMAL OPERATION. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT THE CUSTOMER SHOULD BE EXPECTED TO BEAR THE BURDEN OF COST FOR THE ALIGNMENT, WHEN IT IS NECESSITATED BY THE CORRECTIVE ACTIONS PRESCRIBED BY TOYOTA DURING E02. FAILURE TO RE-ALIGN VEHICLES BECOMES A SAFETY CONCERN, NAMELY DUE TO UNEVEN TIRE WEAR AND THE POTENTIAL FOR INSTABILITY OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO MISALIGNED AXLES CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO INCREASE TENDENCIES TO OVER-STEER. I AM DISAPPOINTED IN TOYOTA'S APPARENT DISREGARD FOR OWNER SAFETY AND FEEL THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED WITH URGENCY.
I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE FOR THIS VEHICLE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR. THE DEALER SAID I HAD THE PROPER SPRINGS ON THE VEHICLE AND NO REPAIR WAS NEEDED. I FIND THIS HARD O BELIEVE SINCE REAR LEAFSPRING BROKE ON THIS VEHICLE WHEN IT WAS APPROX. 2 YRS. OLD. HOW THEN COULD IT HAVE THE PROPER SPRINGS?
I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR THE SUSPENSION RECALL REPAIR. THE DEALER STATED THAT UPON INSPECTION MY VEHICLE HAS THE PROPER PARTS. I FIND THIS HARD TO BELIEVE AS THIS VEHICLE HAD A BROKEN LEAF SPRING WHEN IT WAS APPROX. 2 YEARS OLD. IF THE PROBLEM IS BREAKING LEAF SPRINGS,THEN HOW CAN A VEHICLE UNDER RECALL THAT HAD A PRIOR BROKEN LEAF SPRING NOT BE REPAIRED?
I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN FOR THE NOTIFIED RECALL REPAIR., ( REPLACE DEFECTIVE LEAF SPRINGS ). THE DEALERSHIP SAID MY VEHICLE DIDN'T NEED THE REPAIR. THIS VEHICLE HAD A LEAF SPRING BREAK WHEN IT WAS TWO YEARS OLD. IVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THIS DEALERSHIP IN THE PAST RE: POOR WORK. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, DESPITE BEING TOLD ANOTHER DEALER HAD ALREADY PERFORMED THE WORK. A VISUAL INSPECTION REVEALED A BROKEN REAR LEAF SPRING. UPDATED 07/05/16. *JB
VEHICLE HAS 91K MILEAGE 4X4 ALL HIGHWAY MILES. BACKED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND COULD NOT TURN WHEEL. CHECKED FLUID BUT IT WAS FINE. ATTEMPTED AGAIN AND GOT ON LOCAL ROAD ONLY TO FIND TRUCK UNCONTROLLABLE AT ANY SPEED. SAW ANOTHER COMPLAINT ON THIS AFTER I GOT VEHICLE TOWED BACK TO MY HOUSE AND DECIDED TO FILE COMPLAINT. MY TRUCK NEVER HAD AN ISSUE LIKE THIS BEFORE NOW. IT IS DEFINITELY UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND TOYOTA APPEARS TO HAVE OTHER TACOMA OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE THAT COULD BE FATAL IF IT HAPPENS WHEN DRIVING AT 65 MPH LET ALONE AT SLOWER SPEEDS ON CURVES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE SUBFRAME AND REAR PASSENGER SIDE LEAF SPRING FRACTURED DUE TO CORROSION. THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUBFRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,500.

STEERING , I BOUGHT A NEW 2009 TACOMA WITH THE PLATNUM WARRANTY AND THE STEERING IS NOW NOT WORKING, I FEEL THAT THIS IS UNSAFE AND IS DIFFICULT TO DRIVE. I CALLED THE NUMBER TO TELL THEM THAT I BROUGHT IT TO A DEALER (VANDERSTYNE TOYOTA ROCHESTER NY) TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND THAT I WAS TOLD I NEEDED TO PAY 130.00 FOR DIAGNOSTIC FEES TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS WITH IT AND THAT THEY WOULD NOT EVEN LOOK AT IT TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT SEEM SAFE TO DRIVE. I SEE THERE ARE MANY RECALLS ON TOYOTA STEERING PROBLEMS AND I AM FORCED TO CONTACT AN ATTORNEY TO SEE IF THIS IS LEGAL ACTION
EXPERIENCED DIFFICULTY STEERING, CHECKED AND FOUND POWER STEERING FLUID TO BE LOW, WITH NO EVIDENCE OF LEAKS. PROBLEM CONTINUED AND GOT WORSE WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS WARM, WENT TO MECHANIC AN DIAGNOSIS WAS FAILED STEERING RACK, FLUID HAD COLLECTED IN THE RUBBER BOOT ENDS. MY MECHANIC HAS SEEN THIS NUMEROUS TIMES WITH TOYOTAS (AS HE HAS ONE HIMSELF). CORROSION OF THE METAL WAS CAUSE DUE TO LACK OF PROTECTION FROM THE ELEMENTS. TOYOTA SAVED S FEW DOLLARS AT THE EXPENSE OF SAFETY. NO RECALL YET BUT THERE SHOULD BE, STEERING BEING AN ESSENTIAL COMPONENT OF DRIVING.

I TRIED MORE THAN A DOZEN TIMES TO SIGN UP, BUT WHEN I INPUTED MY VIN#, THE SITE WOULD ONLY SHOW A SPINNING BALL. I TRIED TO CALL THE PHONE NUMBER LISTED AND IT WAS ALWAYS BUSY. AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS I STOPPED TRYING UNTIL RECENTLY THIS YEAR (2016) . I SEE NOW THAT THEY HAVE UPDATED THE SITE AND I CAN NOW SEE MY VIN#. THIS IS GREATLY DISTURBING BECAUSE THE RECALL WHICH WOULD HAVE EFFECTED MY TRUCK HAD A SUNSET DATE OF NOV. 30, 2015. I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT ABOUT FAULTY HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY.

DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS HAVE BURNED AND CRACKED LENSES. TOYOTA CORPORATE SAYS THE RECALL IS OVER. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED--REPAIR COSTS OVER $500. PLEASE HELP--

TOYOTA SEEMS TO BE DRAGGING THERE FEET ON THE LEAF SPRING FIX FOR THE TACOMAS.ITS BEEN GOING ON 2 YEARS,WHATS BEING DONE?HOW MANY TRUCKS HAVE BURNED UP OR CRASHED BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM.

RECEIVED LETTER FROM TOYOTA 2 YEARS AGO ABOUT LEAF SPRING RECALL. AT THIS POINT MY LEAF SPRINGS HAVE WEAKENED TO THE POINT OF NOT BEING ABLE TO HAUL ANYTHING IN THE BED. EVEN DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE EVERY BUMP OR DIP I HIT IN THE ROAD MY TRUCK NOW BOTTOMS OUT. I CONTACTED TOYOTA ON 1/18/2016 WITH A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE WEAKENED STATE OF THE SPRINGS AND MY CONCERN THAT THEY MAY BREAK AT ANYTIME AND ALSO THE FACT OF WHAT ELSE WILL BE WEAKENED, WORE OUT OR BROKE BY THE TIME THE RECALL IS READY. I RECEIVED AN EMAIL SEVERAL DAYS LATER STATING THAT THE RECALL WAS NOT READY AND APOLOGIZED FOR MY INCONVENIENCE AND FRUSTRATIONS. I BELIEVE THEY HAVE HAD AMPLE ENOUGH TIME TO MANUFACTURE THE PARTS AND START BRINGING THEM IN FOR REPAIR. I WAS TOLD THE RECALL WOULD BE READY IN EARLY 2016. WE ARE NOW INTO MARCH AND I CANNOT GO ANY LONGER WITH THE WEAKENED STATE OF THE SPRINGS. I HAVE ASKED THE DEALERS AND THEY CANNOT EVEN TELL ME ANY INFORMATION ON THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE ALREADY FILED A COMPLAINT WITH TOYOTA ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND IT IS UNDER FILE #1601210129. THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH MY TRUCK AROUND THE 50,000 MILE MARK AND I HAVE JUST CHALKED IT UP AS PARTS BECOMING WEAK AND WORE OUT OVER TIME. I HAD PLANS TO ADD A LEAF TO THE REAR SUSPENSION TO BRING THE RIDE BACK TO WERE IT ONCE WAS. SINCE THE RECALL HAS CAME OUT I GAVE UP THAT IDEA AND HAVE BEEN WAITING IMPATIENTLY SINCE. LIKE I SAID SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE THEY HAVE HAD AMPLE ENOUGH TIME TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE.

THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR AIR BAG CAUGHT FIRE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY AND NOT BEING USED. THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED FROM FIRE DAMAGE, SMOKE AND SOOT. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TOTALED BY OUR INSURANCE COMPANY. THE VEHICLE HAD APPROXIMATELY 76,000 MILES AND WAS OTHERWISE IN PERFECT CONDITION.
IN 2013 OUR LEAFSPRING'S BROKE AND WE HAD TO REPLACE THEM. TOYOTA STARED A RECALL NOTICE BUT HAD NO SOLUTION IN 2014. A YEAR LETTER WE RECEIVED A NOTICE THEY WERE STILL WORKING ON IT. WE REQUESTED A REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE MONEY WE PAID OUT TO HAVE THEM REPAIRED AND THEY SAID NO. JUST RECENTLY THEY SAID WE COULD SUBMIT ALL MY PAPERWORK FOR POSSIBLE REIMBURSEMENT. WE SUBMITTED MECHANICS BILL, CANCELED CHECK AND BANK STATEMENT ALSO CURRENT REGISTRATION AND TITLE. I JUST RECEIVED A LETTER TELLING ME AGAIN THAT I NEEDED TO SUBMIT THOSE ITEMS. I CALLED AND ON THE PHONE THEY ADMITTED THEY HAD THE PAPERWORK I SENT AND THEY EVEN WENT AS FAR AS CALLING THE MECHANIC ( WHILE I WAS ON THE LINE ) ON TO CONFIRM HE DID THE WORK AND NOW THEY WANT A WRITTEN STATEMENT FROM THE MECHANIC ON HOW MY TRUCK WAS ACTING WHEN IT CAME IN FOR THE REPAIRS WHAT PARTS AND NUMBERS HE USED ALONG WITH HIS REMEDY AND THE OUTCOME. THIS IS ON THE BILL I PAID ( EXCEPT THE PART #) I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THEY ARE ASKING ME FOR ALL THE PAPERWORK AGAIN AND NEITHER DO THEIR EMPLOYEES I HAVE SPOKEN TO. I BELIEVE TOYOTA IS JUST TRYING TO GET OUT OF PAYING FOR THE REPAIRS ON THEIR RECALL. I STILL REMEMBER DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND HEARING THIS GOD AWFUL NOISE, WORSE THAN A CLUNK. TOOK IT TO THE TOYOTA DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY LEAF SPINGS WERE BAD. I HAD THEM REPLACED AT OUR LOCAL AUTO SHOP BECAUSE THEY WANTED ALMOST HALF OF WHAT TOYOTA WANTED REPLACE THEM. SO FAR THE REPLACEMENTS ARE WORKING.
MY KEYS KEEP FALLING OUT OF THE KEY SOCKET... WHILE DRIVING ON STREETS .. HAS GONE ON FOR 2-3 YEARS NOW... ALSO HAVE, MANY TIMES, TAKEN THE KEY OUT AFTER PARKING IT AND NOT NOTICED THAT VEHICLE STILL RUNNING... THE LAST TIME BOTH PROBLEMS OCCURRED WAS YESTERDAY.
