PURCHASE NEW A 2009 TOYOTA TACOMA FROM TOYOTA OF SCRANTON-VEHICLE FINAL PAYMENT FOR OUR TRUCK WAS OCT 2012. THE TRUCK HAS NOT MISSED AN APPOINTMENT AT TOYOTA OF SCRANTON (THEY ALWAYS MAINTAINED THE VEHICLE). WE TOOK THE TRUCK FOR INSPECTION AT TOYOTA OF SCRANTON IN SEPTEMBER (YEARLY INSPECTION) THE TRUCK FAILED INSPECTION WITH REGARDS TO RUST SPOTS AT FRAME OF TRUCK. TOYOTA DID NOT PASS THE TRUCK FOR INSPECTION AND TOLD US TO GO TO A LOCAL WELDING COMPANY AND HAVE IT WELDED "SUPERIOR WELDING CO." I HAVE BEEN IN TOUCH WITH CORPORATE AND MANUFACTURE REGARDING THIS ISSUE. THEY ARE WORKING ON CASE. I FEAR FOR OTHER MOTORIST WHO MAY HAVE IT WELDED BY OTHERS OR NOT WELDED AND IT BE UNSAFE ON THE HIGHWAY/ROADS. THE TRUCK WAS AT DEALERSHIP WHEN TOLD OF ISSUE. TOYOTA RECALLED 2008 TRUCKS FOR RUSTED FRAMES (DANA MANUFACTURE) - A TOYOTA TACOMA RUSTED FRAMES LAWSUIT FILED IN ARKANSAS. I HAVE SPOKEN TO 14 PEOPLE + 3 SUPERVISORS, IT IS NOW IN THE HANDS OF A "FIELD TECHNICIAN SPECIALIST". THEY TOLD ME THE DECISION WITH NOW GO OUTSIDE THE REGIONAL OFFICE.
BURNT HEADLIGHT LEN. THE RUNNING LIGHT LENS IS BURNT AND CRACKED DUE TO OVERHEATING. WHEN I TRIED TO CONTACT TOYOTA'S RECALL PHONE NUMBER, AFTER OVER A DOZEN ATTEMPTS, THE NUMBER WAS ALWAYS BUSY.

THREE WEEK NEW (JUNE 11,2015) MICHELIN LTX A/T 2 ALL SEASON 265/6517 112S PURCHASED AND INSTALLED BY COSTCO, BLEW OUT DRIVERS SIDE REAR( JULY, 6, 2015) AT 70 MPH WITH AN OAT OF 78 DEGREES. ENTIRE SID WALL DISINTEGRATED. TIRE WAS PROPERLY FILLED WITH NITROGEN TO THE MANUFACTURES RECOMMENDED PRESSURE AND HAD APPROXIMATELY 1500 MILES ON THE TIRE) 2009 TACOMA CLUB CAB TRUCK 4 X 4 WITH TWO LIGHT WEIGHT PASSENGERS AND NO CARGO. NOTE: THIS SAME MODEL TIRE WAS RECALLED BY MICHELIN LAST SUMMER (2014) DUE TO A SIDEWALL DEFECT THAT CAUSED UNKNOWN SIDEWALL BLOW OUTS.

APPROXIMATELY 2 YEARS AGO, I FOUND THAT THE LEAF SPRINGS ON MY 09 TOYOTA TACOMA HAD BROKEN SO I HAD THEM REPLACED. IF MEMORY SERVES ME CORRECTLY I HAD THEM REPLACED A SECOND TIME FOR THE SAME ISSUE. SINCE THEN I HAVE BEEN CONTACTED BY TOYOTA REGARDING A RECALL ON THE 09 TACOMA LEAF SPRINGS. RESEARCHING THE INTERNET I FOUND THAT TOYOTA HAD ANNOUNCED IN NOVEMBER OF 2014 THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM, THAT THEY WOULD BE SEEKING A SOLUTION AND NOTIFYING OWNERS. HERE IT IS AUGUST 2015 AND THEY STILL HAVE NOT FOUND A SOLUTION FOR THIS VERY SIMPLE PROBLEM AND I AM IN THE SAME BOAT AS I WAS MONTHS AGO. EACH TIME I CONTACT TOYOTA I AM TOLD THAT THEY ARE WORKING ON A SOLUTION ALMOST A YEAR LATER.

VEHICLE STEERING IS UNSAFE, THE STEERING WHEEL SOMETIMES DOESN'T RETURN BACK TO CENTER ON TURNS AND STEERS VERY HARD . WHEN I INSPECTED THE VEHICLE THE UNIVERSAL JOINT ON THE STEERING SHAFT IS BINDING. THE PART IS CALLED INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT #2. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS DUE TO UNPREDICTABLE STEERING AND ALSO IF IT FAILS AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THERE SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL. *TR

TOYOTA IS NOT ADDRESSING THE TACOMA REAR LEAF SPRING SAFETY RECALL IN A REASONABLE TIME. I WAS NOTIFIED OF THE LEAF SPRING RECALL IN THE FALL OF 2014. IN MARCH OF 2015 I TOOK MY 2009 TACOMA TO THE DEALER TO INVESTIGATE EXCESSIVE NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE TRUCK. DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT DETERMINED THAT ONE OF THE LEAF SPRINGS HAD FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED PER THE SAFETY RECALL. DEALER ORDERED THE REPLACEMENT SPRINGS BUT WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A TIME WHEN THEY WOULD BE AVAILABLE SO THE REPAIR COULD BE COMPLETED. AFTER NEARLY A MONTH, STILL WAITING FOR PARTS. CALLS TO BOTH THE DEALER AND TOYOTA CORPORATE TO FIND OUT WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE HAVE BEEN FRUITLESS. BOTH STATE THAT THE REPLACEMENT LEAF SPRINGS ARE UNAVAILABLE AND WILL NOT PROVIDE A DATE WHEN THEY WILL BE AVAILABLE. GIVEN THE LENGTH OF TIME THAT TOYOTA HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS SAFETY ISSUE, I FIND THAT THIS IS LACK OF REPAIR PARTS AND ADDRESSING THIS SAFETY ISSUE IS UNACCEPTABLE ESPECIALLY FOR OWNERS SUCH AS MYSELF WHO ARE KNOWN TO HAVE FRACTURED LEAF SPRINGS. RECOMMEND THAT NHTSA INVESTIGATE WITH TOYOTA AS TO WHY THIS SAFETY RECALL IS NOT BEING ADDRESSED IN A PROMPT MANNER. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN: 14V604000 (SUSPENSION). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 123,000.

THERE IS AN ISSUE ON DRIVING AMBER SIGNAL LIGHTS LOCATED ON FRONT OF VEHICLE. BULBS ARE TOO HOT, AND HAVE MELTED AND CRACKED THE LENSE COVER ON THE INSIDE OF THE HEAD LIGHT ASSEMBLY. IT IS HAMPERING LIGHT OUT PUT, AND COULD FORM A HOLE IN THE FUTURE WHICH WILL PROVIDE A HIGH BEAM OF LIGHT TO ON COMING TRAFFIC. ALSO, IT COULD IGNITE DUE TO HEAT AND PLASTIC MELTING. REPORTS OF THIS OCCURING ON TOYOTA VEHICLES HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS WITH NO RESOLVE. MIND YOU, THIS IS A ENGINEER OR MANUFACTURING MISHAP AND ERROR AS THEY FAILED TO CONSIDER AT THE MOMENT OF DESIGNING /MANUFACTURING, AND NOW THE RESULTS ARE MORE THAN EVIDENT. OTHER TOYOTA VEHICLES ARE NOT HAVING THIS ISSUE WHICH MEANS THAT SOMEONE FIGURED OUT A RESOLVE ON THEIR FUTURE PRODUCTION IN ORDER TO AVOID BAD PUBLICITY. IT IS FAIR TO SAY, THAT TOYOTA SHOULD REPLACE SUCH A DEFECT, OR REIMBURSE ITS CUSTOMERS WHO DECIDE TO REPLACE THEM DUE TO SUCH A DEFECT. THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING THE VALIDITY OF THIS MANNER!
TL-THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND WITHOUT CAUSING THE CONTACT TO CRASH. THE SPECIFICS OF THE CRASH WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS PRIOR TO THE CRASH. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NOT INJURIES REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. DJR

IN SEPTEMBER 2014 A RECALL WAS ANNOUNCED ON MY STYLE 2009 TOYOTA TACOMA PICK UP BECAUSE THE REAR LEAF SPRINGS COULD CORRODE AND BREAK. ON NOVEMBER 14, 2014, I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE LETTER FROM TOYOTA THAT MY VEHICLE WAS BEING RECALLED DUE TO THIS ISSUE. I HAVE CONTACTED TOYOTA MANUFACTURING COMPANY ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS ONLY TO BE TOLD "WE ARE WORKING ON IT" (REPLACING THE SPRINGS). THAT IS THE ONLY ANSWER I HAVE EVER RECEIVED. EVEN THEIR WEBSITE STATES "WE ARE WORKING ON IT". I WANT TO KNOW WHEN THESE SPRINGS WILL BE REPLACED ON MY VEHICLE!!!

MY COMPLAINT DOES NOT ACTUALLY INVOLVE TOYOTA BUT IT DOES INVOLVE IN AFTERMARKET PART THAT I INSTALLED ON MY VEHICLE. I ORDERED A SET OF WEATHERTECH FLOOR LINERS, WHICH IS SUPPOSE TO BE MOLDED FOR YOUR VEHICLE FLOORS. THE MAJOR PROBLEM IS THE CLUTCH PETAL WANTS TO CATCH UNDER THE MAT ITSELF. THIS VEHICLE IS 7 YEARS OLD AND 2 YEARS AGO THE READOUT SCREEN FOR THE COMPASS AND TEMPERATURE GAUGE FAILED!! I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND THEY SAID TOYOTA HAS HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE CHIP BOARDS. WHY HASN'T THIS BEEN RECALLED! I SPENT A WHOLE LOT OF MONEY TO HAVE A VEHICLE WITH THESE FEATURES AND NOW IT'S NOT FUNCTIONING! MAKES ME MAD!! GET THIS COMPONENT UNDER RECALL, IT'S REALLY EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE! I WOULD HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT SOONER BUT DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THIS SITE.

I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON 10/10/2014 WHEN I HEARD A WEIRD SOUND FROM UNDER MY VEHICLE. I PULLED OVER AND LOOKED UNDER MY VEHICLE AND NOTICED MY REAR LEAVE SPRING WAS SNAPPED IN THE MIDDLE AND AT A 90 DEGREE ANGLE. *TR

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE PASSENGER LEAF SPRING CRACKED. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER DID NOT FOLLOW THROUGH WITH THE TERMS OF THE RECALL AND ONLY REPLACED THE PASSENGER LEAF SPRING, WHEN THE DRIVER SIDE SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED AS WELL. SINCE THE DRIVER'S SIDE WAS NOT REPLACED, IT LEFT THE VEHICLE SITTING IN AN AWKWARD MANNER. THE DEALER CLAIMED THE WOULD REPLACE THE DRIVER SIDE LEAF SPRING. HOWEVER, THEY ONLY MADE THE PROBLEM WORSE. *JB

SEPTEMBER 29, 2014 TOYOTA MOTORS INFORMED NHTSA OF PLANS TO CONDUCT A VOLUNTARY RECALL OF THE TOYOTA PRE-RUNNER PICKUP TRUCKS. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE LEAF SPRING IS DEFECTIVE AND COULD FRACTURE DUE TO CORROSION AND STRESS. I HAVE A LEAF SPRING THAT IS NOT FRACTURED OR CRACKED BUT IS MAKING A LOT OF STRANGE NOISES AND MY MECHANIC SAYS THE LEAF SPRING ON ONE SIDE IS DEFECTIVE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO MY DEALER TWICE AND THEY REFUSE TO REPLACE IT BECAUSE IT IS NOT CRACKED. I HAVE CALLED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE TWICE ALSO AND THEY REFUSE TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. HOW LONG IS IT GOING TO TAKE TOYOTA TO DEAL WITH THIS RECALL OR ARE THEY WAITING FOR A FEW PEOPLE TO DIE. WHY CAN'T THEY BE PROACTIVE INSTEAD OF REACTIVE AFTER PEOPLE ARE INJURED.
