- Driver’s seat back recliner mechanism / seatback locking mechanism. During a rear-end interstate collision while stopped in traffic, the driver’s seat suddenly reclined backward unexpectedly. After the accident, the recliner adjustment knob/handle was found detached at the tow yard. The vehicle is currently at a tow/salvage yard and may be available for inspection upon request. - Because the seat reclined unexpectedly during impact, the driver’s body position changed suddenly and the front airbag did not appear to make protective contact. The driver briefly lost consciousness and is experiencing significant neck stiffness and pain following the crash. The seat movement may have reduced the effectiveness of the airbag and seatbelt system and increased risk of head and neck injury. - No. The vehicle has not been evaluated by a dealer or independent service center at this time due to collision damage. - The vehicle has been inspected by police at the accident scene and is pending inspection by insurance. The seat mechanism has not yet been specifically evaluated by the manufacturer. - No warning lights, messages, or prior symptoms related to the seat or restraint system were observed before the accident.

My leaf spring(s) is noisy/loosened and to the best of my limited knowledge is at risk for breaking off and puncturing the fuel tank per repair shops. This issue is not covered under Safety Recall E02 (E12) by Toyota for the model year 2012 Tacoma. As a consumer, I don't understand the determination of when the recall is cut off for specific model years. I would like for NHTSA and Toyota to analyze this issue as the model year 2012 Tacoma could be at risk. I have case with Toyota Customer Resolutions that has been closed. Thanks for your attention into this matter.
Under the bottom of my truck, there is tons of rust. I know a lot of the trucks my year, make, and model has been recalled for rust on the body and other parts of the truck. I was told that a Toyota dealership should replace it with the amount it has, and now a hole has appeared but they only told me a price to fix everything that is rusted. Just puts my vehicle at risk driving it back and forth to work.
My truck started having a vibration when driving around 45-55 mph. This problem first became noticeable when it had about 115,000 miles on it. Over time the speed that the vibration became noticeable at gradually increased. By 125,000 miles on the truck, it was vibrating hard between 60 and 70 mph. The dealership determined that the problem was that the drive shaft was out of balance and that it had to be replaced. They replaced the drive shaft, but this doesn't seem like a problem that should creep up with that relatively few miles on the vehicle, and I have read that if the drive shaft actually fails, it can severely damage the vehicle and potentially cause injury.
Will not fix the frame. my husband has a 2005 and it looks new compared to my 2012. The last mechanic I used told me not to bring it back to him to much rust. Toyota said it passed their inspection. There is no way. They’ve had my truck almost a yr. I thought they was fixing it. No they just been chilling. They never called me to tell me it was they wouldn’t honor the recall. Nothing. I keep reading on here cold climate states are the only complaints. Someone is lying on here because I know at least 20 Toyota Tacoma owners from Texas who have filed incident reports.
Sudden and total loss of power steering while backing up to park. There were/are no warning lights or messages displayed on the dashboard. With great difficulty, I was able to drive the car to my local mechanic. Steering was extremely difficult. The power steering unit has been ordered by my mechanic.
The check engine light on the dashboard of my 2012 Tacoma turned on and will no longer accelerate appropriately and especially while driving uphill, posing a danger to myself and other drivers. I was on a two-lane highway with a cliffside drop on one side and a wall of steep rock on the other and absolutely no where to go as there was only one lane going in each direction and my truck would not accelerate over 20mph in an area where you’re expected to keep a pace above 40mph and as such ended up with a long row of impatient and increasingly frustrated drivers behind me, only more incited by my having to turn on my hazard lights as a result of a crawling speed I was forced to deal with and with nowhere to pull over and get out of the way. How can I possibly rely on this vehicle to be safe for me or anyone else, especially on a fast-moving highway in this condition? I have taken the vehicle to an auto shop and I as told the air injection system is bad and that this is a typical problem for Toyota Tacomas and the cost would be just shy of $3,000! I was recommended by a mechanic to reach out to Toyota directly because this is obviously an issue the manufacturer should readily respond to and repair. Please advise.
Drivetrain vibration and cricket chripping noise; likly coming from propeller shaft
The contact owns a 2012 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle failed to exceed 45 MPH. The contact stated that the check engine and traction control warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed him about a Special Service Campaign: 20TC01. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the air injection pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed him that the Special Service Campaign: 20TC01 had expired. No additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.
My truck lost drivability while I was going 60 I ran into a ditch to stop. It hads two codes . I took it in they replaced my rack n pinion. Check engine light came on . Mechanic said he could not work on it anymore because of the rust. To much corrosion he would be risking liability for other parts getting damaged because of all the rust. Took it to mike Shaw to have frame tested. It passed they said. But I can’t find a mechanic to work on it but mike Shaw and they’ll just keep charging for each item they don’t care.
The contact owns a 2012 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that the undercarriage of the vehicle was significantly rusted. The TPMS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was repaired under the warranty; however, the failure recurred. The dealer informed the contact that the rear bumper and brackets were rusted, and there was no recall or warranty coverage. The contact stated upon pulling into the driveway of the residence, the contact noticed a trail of fluid leak on the street. The contact stated that the transmission lines were fractured due to rust. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the contact was informed that the vehicle was significantly rusted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 71,000.
The frame has rusted through in several spots.
The passenger leaf spring or right leaf spring has broken and the truck has not hauled any kind of weight, there is a previous recall on similar trucks but they end with 2011 models but looking at the 2012 model it’s build is similar and seems to have a chance of having the same effect as mine already has.
Switching valve stuck open bank 1 and 2. Truck is in limp mode. Air pump is full of water.
Is there a recall on leaf springs
June 1st 2021 I went to park in a parking space at a local mall. My truck instead of stopping it accelerated out of control jumped two stone curbs, drove though a fence and landed into a swamp. Call Toyota and they have opened a new case # 210602000065. Police report # 21-374-AC. This isn't the first time that this has happen with this truck. It happen in Aug 2019. I contacted Toyota case number 1908060035. They sent out EAA Engineering Analysis Ass. out who did a ACM.CDRX file a month later. Toyota came back said they couldn't find anything wrong and my case was closed. Another incident in winter of 2016 where my truck was stopped and it accelerated on its own and It drove in the 4 way intersection where it caused an accident. lots of damage to cars. Toyota was contacted and they sent me to a dealer for repairs. Dealership has records of my truck coming in since I owned it with complaints of Truck not moving at all to all of sudden to acceleration on its own.
I was attempting to park in a parking space to return items at a department store at a mall. All of a sudden my truck accelerator on its own. The truck traveled over two cements curbs crossed a road before traveling through a chain-link fence down the front of retaining wall into a wooded area swamp. It took three tow trucks to remove the truck. Police report 21-374-AC. Truck wasn't repairable so my insurance company totalled the truck. I filed a complaint with Toyota in Case number 210602000065 but no outcome. This is the second time this truck has had accelerator issues. My first complaint was Aug 2019 with Toyota case number 1908060035. Toyota pulled the black box and came back stating they couldn't find anything.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 80 MPH, WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS NOT BEING DEPRESSED, THE BRAKES LOCKED UP WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO START SLIDING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V054000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 76,000.
HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AS THE 2011 TACOMA'S WITH FAULTY LEAF SPRINGS STARTED AS A SQUEAK SPRAYED WD-40 AND FLUID FILM DIDN'T HELP THEN FEW MONTHS LATER HEARD A CLUNK AND NOW DRIVER SIDE LEAF SPRING IS BROKE THIS SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL!!
RECENTLY I HAVE NOTICED THE STEERING ON MY 2012 TACOMA IS HARDER THAT NORMAL AND NO LONGER RETURNS TO CENTER AFTER TURNING. UPON INVESTIGATING ONLINE AND VISUALLY INSPECTING MY TRUCK, THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING ROD LOWER BALL JOINT HAS FAILED! UPON VISUAL INSPECTION IT APPEARS THAT THE CUPS AND BEARING ARE DESTROYED . TOYOTA CONSIDERS THIS A NORMAL WEAR ITEM!! THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 34,400 MILES ACTUALLY THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT WILL SOMEDAY RESULT IN INJURY OR DEATH AND SHOULD BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY BY TOYOTA. IT APPEARS THAT MANY TOYOTA OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE FOR MANY YEARS.
HORN WILL NOT WORK WITH THE STEERING WHEEL CENTERED. IF YOU TURN THE STEERING WHEEL 90% TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT THE HORN HAS WORKED SOMETIMES. TOYOTA ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM ON OTHER TACOMAS BUT NOT FOR THE 2012. THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IS SAYING THAT ITS MOST LIKELY THE CLOCK SPRING.
WHEN ACCELERATING THE TRUCK LOST ALL POWER AND ACCELERATION. ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. ENGINE WILL NOT INCREASE RPM WHEN ACCELERATOR IS PRESSED. TRUCK WILL SLOWLY DRIVE BUT IS UNSAFE TO BE ON THE ROAD AS IT SLOWLY ACCELERATES UP TO 20-30MPH MAX. VEHICLE WAS MERGING INTO TRAFFIC FROM PARKING LOT ACCESS.
HORN WILL NOT WORK WITH THE STEERING WHEEL CENTERED. IF YOU TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT AND PUSHING THE HORN IT WILL WORK. TOYOTA ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM ON 2005-2009 TACOMA BUT NOT FOR THE 2012. TOYOTA HAS KNOWN THAT THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE CLOCK SPRING THAT THEY WON'T ADDRESS ON THE 2012'S.
The contact owns a 2012 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds in areas with low traction, several unknown warning lights would illuminate on the instrument panel and the vehicle would begin to drift independently. Once the contact regained control of the vehicle, the warning lights would disappear, and the vehicle would resume normal operation. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer for repair. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V054000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic, Electronic Stability Control) which he linked to the failure. Upon speaking with the dealer, the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and the contact was directed to the website for assistance. The vehicle remained in the possession of the dealer and had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 85,500.
PAINT PROBLEMS ON ALL FOUR DOORS FLAKING OFF .RECIEVING A NOTICE FOR MY CAMARY BUT NOT THE TACOMA, BOTH COLORS WERE LISTED.
FAILURE OF DRIVERS SIDE LEAF SPRING WITH LARGE SECTION(4-6IN) MISSING. GAVE NO NOTICE OF FAILURE PRIOR TO FAILING. FOUND WHEN CHANGING TIRES. DO NOT USE VEHICLE FOR TOWING BEYOND SPECS OR OFF ROADING. TOYOTA RECALLED PREVIOUSLY FOR THIS ISSUE UNDER SAFETY RECALL E02(E12) FOR 2005-2011 M.Y. STATING BROKEN LEAF SPRINGS COULD PUNCTURE FUEL TANK PROPAGATING IN A FIRE. TOYOTA DEALERSHIP WAS UNWILLING TO ASSIST IN REPAIR OR ADMIT FAULT DESPITE SAFETY RELATED ISSUE.
TOYOTA HAS KNOW THAT THE CLOCK SPRING HAS BEEN FAILING FOR YEARS. THEY ISSUED A RECALL FOR MODEL YEARS 2005-2009. TRUCKS IN THE MODEL YEARS 2010-2012 ARE ALSO AFFECTED. PROBLEMS - LOSS OF HORN, LOSS OF AIRBAG. OPTIONAL IF EQUIPPED - LOSS OF CRUISE CONTROL AND/OR LOSS OF RADIO CONTROLS. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD! LOSS OR HORN AND LOSS OF AIR BAGS ARE A VERY, VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION!!! THE CLOCK SPRING FAILS RANDOMLY SO YOU MIGHT NOT BE AWARE UNTIL IT IS TOO LATE!!!
RIGHT FRONT WHEEL SUDDENLY LOCKS FOR SEVERAL SECONDS PUTTING A DRAG ON THAT WHEEL, SLOWING THAT WHEEL DOWN. HAPPENS ON SHARP TURNS ONLY SO FAR, MOSTLY GOING DOWN HILL, ALL AT REASONABLE, SAFE SPEEDS FOR THE CURVE. DRIVER IS NOT USING THE BREAKS AT THE TIMES THIS HAS HAPPENED, AND RELEASES THE GAS AND HOLDS TIGHT TO THE STEERING WHEEL. NO DASH LIGHTS APPEAR. IT IS INCREASING IN FREQUENCY AND STARTING TO SCARE US ON OUR DEEP CLIFF CURVE ROADS. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING JUST ONCE IN AWHILE 5 YEARS, BUT IS NOW HAPPENING 2-5 TIMES EACH TIME WE DRIVE THE 15 MILE RIVER CANYON WITH TIGHT CURVES AND STEEP CLIFFS. WE ONLY KNOW WHEELS ANS BRAKE SYSTEM ARE INVOLVED, AND THE STABILITY OF THE VEHICLE.
TRAC OFF AND CEL ON, TRUCK GOES INTO 'LIMP MODE' AND DECELERATES WHEN GAS ALLPIED. LOUD WHINING NOISE WHEN FIRST STARTING.
I BROUGHT TRUCK TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AS PART OF RUSTED FRAME RECALL TO BE VERIFIED. THEY STATED TRUCK WAS NOT RUSTED ENOUGH UNDERNEATH FOR TOYOTA TO APPROVE RECALL. THAT WAS A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO. I HAVE RECENTLY BROUGHT IT TO A FEW MECHANICS TO DO SOME WORK ON A/C AS THE A/C STOPPED WORKING AND THAT REFUSE TO WORK ON IT AS THE TRUCK IS SO RUSTED UNDERNEATH!! THEY SAID IT WOULD CRUMBLE. NOT EVEN WORTH IT.
MY 2012 TACOMA WARNING LIGHT 1) ENGINE AND 2 TRAC OFF WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND LOST POWER GOING 65 MPH ON FREEWAY AND WOULD NOT GO OVER 25 MPH (DANGEROUS!). OBD-II SCANNER DISPLAYED ERROR CODE CHECK P2442 INDICATING FAULTY AIR INJECTION PUMPS AND/OR AIR SWITCHING VALVES. *TR
21012 TACOMA WITH 52,000 MILES IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT AIR SWITCHING VALVES, AIR PUMP & GASKETS. KNOWN PROBLEM WITH TOYOTA OF WHICH THEY ONLY MADE A HANDFUL OF RECALLS TO OWNERS. $1500 FOR REPAIRS THAT SHOULD BE COVERED BY TOYOTA
ON MY 2012 TACOMA THE CODE P2440 AND P2442 WHICH REPRESENT A STUCK OPEN VALVE IN THE SECONDARY AIR INJECTION SYSTEM. UPON MY RESEARCH INTO THIS ISSUE ON FORUMS I HAVE LEARNED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE TOYOTA SYSTEMS PARTICULARLY THE 2012 TACOMA. THE COST OF THE PART IS ABOUT 400 TO 500 DOLLARS FOR THE VALVES AND ANOTHER 500 DOLLARS FOR THE SECONDARY AIR INJECTION PUMP. THE FAILURE WILL PLACE THE VEHICLE INTO A LIMP MODE AND HAS TO BE FIXED IN ORDER TO THE TRUCK TO KEEP ON GOOD WORKING CONDITION. IT SEEMS LIKE THIS ERROR HAS AFFECTED MANY TACOMA OWNERS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER MAKING A TURN, THE STEERING FAILED TO RETURN TO THE CENTER POSITION AUTOMATICALLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING CEASED IN THE TURNED POSITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ADDITIONAL EFFORT WAS NEEDED TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. VANDERSTYNE TOYOTA LOCATED AT (4374 W RIDGE RD, ROCHESTER, NY 14626, 585-225-6600) WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SUBJECTED TO A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT A COST OF $550 OUT OF POCKET. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000. *BF*JB
TWO DASHBOARD LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AT THE SAME TIME: THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE TRAC OFF LIGHT. AT FIRST I REALLY DIDN'T NOTICE MUCH OF A DIFFERENCE BUT AFTER 2 DAYS I EXPERIENCED SIGNIFICANT POWER LOSS. I WOULD PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC OK UNTIL ABOUT 20MPH THEN HAVE NO POWER. IT CRAWLED WHILE TRYING TO GET UP TO SPEED. I READ ON THE INTERNET THAT IF YOU DISCONNECT THE BATTERY AND OPEN THE GAS CAP THE LIGHTS WOULD GO OUT AND THE PROBLEM WOULD GO AWAY. I DID THIS AND IT WORKED; OR SO I THOUGHT. I THEN LEFT FOR AN HOUR TRIP (I KNOW DUMB) AND WITHIN 15 MINS THE LIGHTS CAME BACK ON AND I COULDN'T GET THE TRUCK OVER 60MPH ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. I ACTUALLY STOPPED AT A REST STOP AND DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY AND REMOVED THE GAS CAP. AGAIN THIS SHUT OFF THE LIGHTS BUT ONLY FOR ABOUT 5 MINS. THEN THE POWER LOSS WAS BACK. TOOK TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC WHO I TRUST AND HE SAID IT WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT WAS SOMETHING CALLED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN BUT NOT YET A RECALL. APPARENTLY THE TUNDRA AND SEQUOIA ARE RECALLED FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT NOT THE TACOMA. I DON'T GET IT. I WAS TOLD TO KEEP MY RECEIPTS ($1,870.68) RIGHT AFTER CHRISTMAS THANK YOU, AND HOPEFULLY ONE DAY GET REIMBURSED IF IT BECOMES A RECALL. I CAN ONLY HOPE THIS IS A NO INTEREST INVESTMENT INTO MY FUTURE. *TR
FAILURE OF THE SECONDARY AIR INJECTION SYSTEM P2440 AND P2442, WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING ONTO A CITY STREET FROM A PARKING LOT. WHEN ACCELERATING IMMEDIATELY THERE WAS A DECREASE IN POWER AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALONG WITH THE "TRAC OFF" LIGHT ILLUMINATING SIMULTANEOUSLY. THE VEHICLE HAS A NOW MAXIMUM SPEED OF AROUND 55 MPH AND EXTREMELY SLOW TO ACCELERATE BEING ALMOST DANGEROUS ON BUSIER ROADS. AFTER BEING CHECK OUT BY A THE DEALER IT WAS FOUND TO BE THE SECONDARY AIR INJECTION SYSTEM WHICH IS COVERED BY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT PARTS ARE ON BACK-ORDER.
BRAKES ACTUATE ABNORNMAL. BRAKES ENGAGE APPROX. 2 SECONDS AFTER THEY ARE APPLIED. BRAKES ALSO WILL COME ON AT FULL FORCE LOCKING THE VEHICLE UP. MASTER TECH DIAGNOSTIC - FAULTY BRAKE BOOSTER. TOYOTA HAS RECALLS FOR 2012 TACOMA'S HOWEVER MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL.
WHEN I'M DRIVING THE TRUCK BETWEEN 30 AND 40 MILES AN HOUR THE TRUCK FEEL LIKE WANTS TO STOP AND SAUNDS WUIRD I THINK IS THE TORQUE CONVERTER IS NOT DOING HIS JOB PROPERLY ALSO THAT SUSPENSION IS GETTING RESTLESS SO BAD AND SO QUICKLY AND THE CHATS ARE SO HARD SO I DON'T KNOW IF IT IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH IT OR IT'S JUST NORMAL IN THE CAR AND SAW THE THINGS I'VE BEEN CHECKING ON IT 2012 TOYOTA AND I HAD IT FOR THREE YEARS ALSO IT TAKES TOO LONG TO HEAT UP IN WINTER TIME
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I HAD NO ACCELERATION BEYOND 20 MPH. I TOOK IT FOR A DIAGNOSIS AT AUTO ZONE AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS CODES ,2450 AND 2442, SECONDARY AIR VALVES STUCK OPEN. I AM STUCK IN AN UNFAMILIAR CITY AND NO MECHANICS WITH TIME TO FIX IT, TO SAY NOTHING OF ME NOT HAVING THE FUNDS TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THE LIGHT CAME ON WHEN I WAS TURNING A CORNER ON A HILL. I UNDERSTAND THIS HAS BECOME A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR TOYOTAS AND I WOULD HAVE EXPECTED A RECALL NOTICE SO THAT TOYOTA WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM! I HAVE NO WAY OF GETTING HOME AS PART OF MY DRIVE IS THRU A VERY STEEP AND TREACHEROUS CANYON.
REAR LEAF SPRING IS BROKEN AND NEAR THE GAS TANK. THIS IS AN EARLY 2012 MODEL. THERE IS ALREADY AN ACTIVE RECALL ON THE 2011 MODEL. MILEAGE IS ONLY 45000.
I'M A OWNER OF TACOMA PRE-RUNNER 2012. I RECENTLY TOOK MY CAR TO SCAN SINCE I HAD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. ATTACHED I SEND YOU THE CODES AND I ALSO INCLUDE THE FACT SHEET DELIVERED TO ME AT THE SERVICE CENTER. I WANT TO KNOW IF THIS IS COVERED BY ANY WARRANTY.
ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO MY TRUCK WAS HESITATING AND MY CHECK ENGINE/OFF TRAC LIGHT WAS ON. THE CAR WOULD NOT GO ABOVE 40MPH ON CITY STREETS OR HIGHWAY. I WENT TO A TOYOTA DEALER IN PUERTO RICO, THEY SAID THE CODES WERE P0052, P0456, P2140, P2442 SECONDARY AIR INJECTION SYSTEM IS BAD AND WOULD COST $2,458.08 FOR REPAIRS. I DON'T KNOW IF IT IS COVERED BY ANY WARRANTY. IT IS A 2012 TOYOTA TACOMA PRE-RUNNER.
SECONDARY AIR INJECTION SYSTEM CODE P2440 AND P 2442
TODAY LEAVING WORK MY TRUCK WENT INTO COMPLETE LIMP MODE. TURNED AROUND AND THANKFULLY I WORK AT A DEALERSHIP NOT A TOYOTA ONE THOUGH. I GOT THE CODES THAT POPPED UP CHECKED AND IT WAS THE CODES FOR THE AIR INJECTION PUMP AND FLAPS. I CALLED TOYOTA AND THEY SAID THIS IS COMMON IN THE MY TRUCK AND I AM RIGHT OUTSIDE MY COVERAGE FOR IT. IT ENDS AT 150,000 AND I HAVE 163. I HAVE TO DRIVE THIS TRUCK BACK AND FORTH ON THE INTERSTATE AND IF THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WHY WOULD Y'ALL PUT A CUTOFF ON THE PROBLEM. WHY IS THIS NOT A RECALL. I BOUGHT MY TRUCK 2ND HAND SO I HAD NO IDEA OF THIS PROBLEM.
THE CODES FOR THE AIR SWITCHING VALVE.
DEFECTIVE CLOCK SPRING. OPEN CIRCUIT.
