MY VEHICLE HAD COMLETE LOSS OF MOTIVE POWER WHILE IN MOTION, I LET IT ROLL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SHUT IT OFF BY TAKING THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. AFTER RESTARTING IT IT SEEMED TO RUN FINE, I WAS ONLY 5 MINUETS AWAY FROM HOME. SECOND INCIDENT HAPPENED ON MY WAY TO WORK IN MORNING RUSH HOUR ON THE HIGHWAY , SAME SITUATION ACCRUED. AFTER WAITING A MINUTE TO RESTART IT WORKED FINE. AFTER THIS HAPPENED ON A DAILY BASIS I TIMED HOW LONG MY CAR WOULD RUN BEFORE IT WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN, IT RAN FOR 14 MIN AND WOULD LOOSE ALL MOTIVE POWER, ALL OTHER POWER WORKED FINE,LIKE LIGHTS, RADIO AND SO ON. I THEN WENT ON THE VOLKSWAGEN WEBSITE AND RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM, COMING TO FIND OUT THERE IS A RECALL ON MY PROBLEM. MY VEHICLE WAS ALWAYS IN MOTION WHEN IT HAPPENED, ON HIGHWAY, SIDE ROADS. I WAS LUCKY NOT TO GET HIT OR COME TO A COMLETE STOP IN THE CENTER OF AN INTERSECTION!!! I TOOK MY CAR TO A VW REPEALER AND EXPLAINED MY FINDING AND GAVE THEM THE RECALL NUMBER 20AE, THEY FIXED IT BY REPLACING THE FUEL PUMP CONTROLL MODULE, DUE TO THE MODULE BEING BAD I ALSO HAD TO GET NEW FUEL PUMP.
REGARDING NHTSA RECALL # 17V509, THE MANUFACTURER HAS YET TO ISSUE A REMEDY IN ORDER FOR ME TO GET THE CAR FIXED. I'VE HAD NUMEROUS TIMES IN WHICH MY BATTERY DRAINED AND I HAD TO GET MY CAR JUMPED. I COULDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY IT KEPT HAPPENING UNTIL I RECEIVED A TAKATA NOTICE REGARDING AIRBAGS ALSO BEING RECALLED AT WHICH POINT I RAN A SEARCH VIA VIN AND DISCOVERED THE FUEL PUMP RECALL INSTEAD. PLEASE ASSIST. THANK YOU.
THE "STEERING COLUMN LOCK DEFECTIVE" MESSAGE IS COMMON IN THE 2009-2010 VW CC MODEL, VW ISSUED A RECALL THAT EXPIRED ON FEBRUARY 28, 2013. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT CAN CAUSE THE CAR TO STALL IN TRANSIT. VW SHOULD ISSUE A SAFETY RECALL ON THIS ISSUE AND TO ENSURE HUMAN SAFETY. MY VEHICLE JUST STARTED TO DISPLAY THE MESSAGE WHEN THE SEASON CHANGED, FROM MY UNDERSTANDING IT'S A COMMON ISSUE THAT VW FAILS TO TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR AND INSTEAD SHIFTS THE COSTS OF A KNOWN DEFECT TO ITS CUSTOMERS.
THE TIMING BELT TENSIONER FAILED WHILE DRIVING. LOST POWER AND REQUIRED A TOW. DAMAGED VALVES, WARPED HEAD AND PISTONS WAS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR. THIS APPEARS TO BE PROBLEM FOR THE 2.0 ENGINE AS I'VE READ THAT HAS OCCURRED WITH MANY OTHER OWNER'S. VOLKSWAGEN SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THESE REPAIRS.
THERE WAS A RECALL IN 2015 INVOLVING A CLOCK SPRING IN THE STEERING WHEEL. RECALL DESCRIPTION: HAIR OR OTHER FIBERS MAY CONTAMINATE THE AIRBAG CLOCK SPRING (A SPIRAL WOUND, FLAT CABLE THAT KEEPS THE AIRBAG POWERED WHILE THE STEERING WHEEL IS BEING TURNED). THIS CONTAMINATION MAY TEAR THE CABLE AND RESULT IN A LOSS OF ELECTRICAL CONNECTION TO THE DRIVER'S FRONTAL AIRBAG. A LOSS OF ELECTRICAL CONNECTION TO THE DRIVER'S FRONTAL AIRBAG WILL PREVENT THE AIRBAG FROM DEPLOYING IN THE EVENT OF A VEHICLE CRASH, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY. ON FEBRUARY 29, 2016, VW DID A RECALL REPAIR BY INSTALLING A COVER OVER THE CLOCK SPRING. ON NOVEMBER 22, 2017, I WAS DRIVING AND WHEN I MADE A TURN, I HEARD A POP IN MY STEERING WHEEL. MY AIRBAG LIGHT IMMEDIATELY CAME ON ALONG WITH AN AIRBAG ERROR. I LOST THE USE OF MY HORN AND THE CONTROLS ON MY STEERING WHEEL, ALONG WITH MY AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THIS SEEN ABOUT. I WAS TOLD THAT I HAD TO REPLACE THE CLOCK SPRING FOR A FEE OF $877.88. I QUESTIONED THIS BECAUSE IT WAS A RECALL ISSUE AND WAS TOLD THAT THE REPAIR WAS COVERED FOR 12 MONTHS/12,000 MILES (WHICH EVER CAME FIRST) AND IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. FIRST OF ALL, THE CLOCK SPRING WAS NOT REPLACED, A COVER WAS PUT ON IT. HOW DO I NOT KNOW THAT THERE WERE FIBERS IN THE CLOCK SPRING BEFORE THE COVER WAS PUT ON? I FEEL THAT VW TOOK AN EASY WAY OUT OF FIXING A PROBLEM THAT COULD HAVE SERIOUS ISSUES LATER, WHICH I AM NOW EXPERIENCING.

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RPMS INCREASED TO 3,500; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER FELT AS IF THE VEHICLE SHIFTED INTO SPORT MODE. THE DRIVE ICON ILLUMINATED. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AGAIN, THE ENGINE REVVED, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT HAD TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MCKINNEY VOLKSWAGEN DEALER AT (855) 402-5098 LOCATED AT 3600 S CENTRAL EXPY, MCKINNEY, TX 75070 WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ENGINE COULD NOT BE TAKEN APART. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE MECHATRONIC CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC (GBF AUTO, 1640 BLACKWELL RD, COOKEVILLE, TN, 38506) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE LOCAL DEALER (HALLMARK VOLKSWAGEN, 2431 GALLATIN PIKE N, MADISON, TN, 37115) STATED THAT THE REMEDY WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER CONFIRMED THAT THE REMEDY WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V509000 (FUEL SYSTEM) FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000. DSG TRANSMISSION: THE CAR HAS BEEN "SLIPPING" WHILE DRIVING, WILL SLIP INTO NEUTRAL AND FAIL ON THE HIGHWAY. WHEN STATIONARY, SOMETIMES WON'T GO IN REVERSE, JUST FLASHES R, WHEN I PUT IT IN REVERSE. CAN TURN IT OFF, TURN IT BACK ON AND IT'LL RUN OK. VW HAS EXTENDED WARRANTY ON 2010 DSG, BUT IS NOT COVERING MY VIN.
WE EXPEND TO BUYING CONSTANTLY THE IGNITION COIL . ONE YEAR AGO WE CHANGE THE WATER PUMP, AND ONE MONTH AGO WE CHANGED THE FUEL PUMP.WE HAD RECALL FOR THE AIR BAG WHICH WAS CHANGED AT THE DEALERSHIP. NOW WE HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE TIRES N 5000 PLUS BECAUSE HAVE BUBBLES IN THE SIDES.

WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO GALPIN VOLKSWAGEN (15421 ROSCOE BLVD, NORTH HILLS, CA 91343 (818) 895-3800) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,337. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE/PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN CC. WHILE STATIONARY, THE BRAKE LIGHTS AND THE REVERSE GEAR LIGHTS MALFUNCTIONED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATED THAT NONE OF THE LIGHTS ON THE TRUNK OF THE VEHICLE WERE ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS STRESS APPLIED TO THE QUARTER PANEL WIRES WITHIN THE TRUNK BY THE OPENING AND CLOSING OF THE TRUNK, WHICH IN TURN FRACTURED THE WIRING SYSTEM. IN ADDITION, THE TRUNK WOULD NOT OPEN WHEN PROMPTED WITH THE KEY FOB. A DEALER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,100. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN CC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT OPERABLE AND THE SHIFTER WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO THE CORRECT GEAR. ALSO, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED THREE OR FOUR TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH PACK FAILED. VOLKSWAGEN OF SANTA MONICA, CA (2440 SANTA MONICA BLVD) WAS CONTACTED, BUT REFUSED TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000.
THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON IN MY VEHICLE AND I FOUND OUT THERE IS AN UNEXPECTED MECHANICAL GEAR DISENGAGEMENT (TROUBLE CODE P2711). THE DEALERSHIP QUOTED $2,400 SUGGESTING ME TO REPLACE CLUTCH PACKS, AFTER I SPENT $140 SIMPLY FOR DIAGNOSIS. I SAW THAT VW USED TO PROVIDE A SAFETY RECALL AND EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR DSG TRANSMISSION FOR CERTAIN MODELS IN 2007 TO 2010. I ALSO FOUND ONLINE THAT THERE ARE MANY REPORTED DSG-RELATED FAILURES. I, JUST AS MANY VW OWNERS DO, HAVE EXPERIENCED DELAYS AT SHIFT POINTS, CAUSING ERRATIC SHIFTING, JERKING, LONG STALL PAUSES, CLUTCH SLIPPING, SURGING IN FORWARD AND REVERSE, ETC. WHILE THE CAR IS EITHER ACCELERATING, PASSING OR CRUISING. HOWEVER, MY 2010 VW CC (55K MILEAGE) IS NOT UNDER THIS EXTENDED WARRANTY. I THINK IT'S VERY RIDICULOUS, SINCE I'VE TAKEN GOOD CARE OF MY VEHICLE, BUT HAVE ALREADY EXPERIENCED 3 SAFETY RECALL (INCLUDING TAKATA RECALL AND FUEL PUMP RECALL), AND THIS TIME THEY REFUSE TO REIMBURSE MY COSTS INCURRED BY THEIR COMMONLY-KNOWN DANGEROUS TRANSMISSION FAILURE. I'M ALREADY HUGELY INFLUENCED BY THIS MODEL'S SAFETY RECALLS, AND DON'T WANT TO PAY $2400 FOR THEIR DESIGN DEFECTS. EVEN IF I REPAIR IT AT MY OWN EXPENSE, IT'S HARD TO SAY SUCH A BAD TRANSMISSION WILL NOT CAUSE OTHER DANGER OR TROUBLE IN THE FUTURE. IF THIS IS THE SAME DSG TRANSMISSION THAT'S REPORTED TO BE TROUBLESOME, THEIR WARRANTY/RECALL SHOULD BE FAIRLY PROVIDED TO ALL INFLUENCED VEHICLES. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME!

TAKATA RECALL BEEN AWAITING A "NEW SHIPMENT" OF AIRBAGS FOR MONTHS NOW. STILL NO STOCK FOR A FIX
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN CC. WHILE THE CONTACT'S SON WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS UNSURE IF ANY WARNING INDICATORS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT'S SON WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND DRIVE HOME. THE CONTACT CALLED TRACY VOLKSWAGEN (686 IYANNOUGH RD, HYANNIS, MA 02601 (508) 775-3049) AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED AT LEAST TWICE PRIOR TO THIS FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO SCHEDULE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WITH A VOLKSWAGEN DEALER, PAY FOR THE REPAIRS, AND SEEK REIMBURSEMENT IF THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE RECALL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V509000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
MY VOLKSWAGEN CC IS A 2010 WITH UNDER 65,000 MILES ON IT AND THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER FAILED. IT BROKE OFF AND ACTUALLY CRACKED THE HEAD SO THAT I NEED TO PUT IN A NEW ENGINE TO HAVE A WORKING VEHICLE AGAIN. THIS IS GOING TO COST ME $4500 FOR A CAR THAT IS NOT EVEN 5000 MILES OVER THE WARRANTY PERIOD. I BOUGHT THIS CAR 3 YEARS AGO AND HAVE ONLY PUT 30,000 MILES ON IT. ALL OF THE MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP AT A COSTLY RATE TOO. IT DOES NOT SEEM LIKE AN ENGINE SHOULD CATASTROPHICALLY FAIL WITH THIS FEW MILES.
I WENT TO START MY VEHICLE PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY TO GO TO WORK AND THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T START. I HAD JUST PUT FUEL IN IT THE NIGHT BEFORE SO I KNEW THAT WASN'T THE PROBLEM. HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO ASE CERTIFIED VOLKSWAGEN MECHANIC AND THEY RAN ALL TESTS TO FIND THAT MY TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER WAS BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $7400. I STILL OWE $7K ON THE VEHICLE AT THIS TIME. I DON'T HAVE THE FUNDS TO PAY FOR THIS. THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING FOR THE PAST 3MTHS. I AM PREGNANT AND AM SO GLAD THAT IT DIDN'T STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY ON ME!
TIRES CONSTANTLY SUFFER FROM CUPPING.
VEHICLE WILL STALL OUT WHILE DRIVING OR PULLING OUT FROM A STOPPED POSITION. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AS IT DOES THIS ON A DAILY BASIS. MY DAUGHTER HAD IT STALL OUT ON THE INTERSTATE WHILE GIVING IT GAS TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE. SHE WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSTATE SITTING THERE AND CALLED 911. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED BUT PUT HER IN A VERY DANGEROUS POSITION ON A BUSY INTERSTATE. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE FUEL PUMP AND ELECTRICALLY THAT WAS ISSUED A YEAR AGO -- HOWEVER THERE ARE NO PARTS TO FIX IT THEY SAY. WE HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF ANY PARTS. I HAVE CALLED VW AND THEY SAID THAT IF I TOOK IT TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS THEY MIGHT COULD HELP WITH FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO CODE INDICATING THAT THE FUEL PUMP PROBLEM EXISTED. HOWEVER, I EXPLAINED THAT THE CAR IS DOING EXACTLY WHAT THE RECALL SAYS IS HAPPENING. I AM SO FRUSTRATED AND FEEL THAT VW IS PUTTING OUR FAMILY AT RISK ON A DAILY BASIS. WE NEED THIS PART AND REPAIR DONE ON OUR CAR IMMEDIATELY. WAITING OVER A YEAR WHEN A KNOWN PROBLEM EXIST IS JUST NOT RIGHT -- WHEN THIS CAN PUT A LIFE AT RISK. IF THE CAR STALLS OUT PULLING OUT IN FRONT OF ANOTHER VEHICLE OR GOING DOWN THE ROAD ON A BUSY INTERSTATE WHEN GIVING IT GAS TO PASS A VEHICLE IS JUST A HORRIFIC ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. NUMEROUS LIVES COULD BE IMPACTED.
MY CAR HAD TROUBLE STARTING THAT MORNING. IT TOOK ABOUT 3 SECONDS FOR IT TO TURN ON AFTER I INSERTED THE KEY. I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST BECAUSE IT WAS GETTING A COLD START NOW THAT WE'RE IN SEPTEMBER. AS I WAS DRIVING A FEW MINUTES AFTER, THE CAR IMMEDIATELY DECELERATED WHILE ON THE ROAD. THAT COULD'VE BEEN CATASTROPHIC. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SHORTLY AFTER AND THE CAR WOULD SHAKE A LOT, ESPECIALLY AT A STOP. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND TALKED TO MY MECHANIC AND HE TOLD ME IT WAS A TIMING BELT ISSUE. ESTIMATING $1600-$5000 FOR REPAIR. JUST 2 MONTHS AGO I HAD THE CEL THAT COSTED ME $700 AND A FEW MONTHS BEFORE THAT $500. I INVESTIGATED THAT THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION SUIT FOR THIS PROBLEM. MY CAR HAS ONLY 54000 MILES
I HAVE A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN CC SPORT WITH A LITTLE MORE THAN 91872 MILES ON IT. I WAS ACCELERATING ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO SPUTTER. THE EPC LIGHT AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT CAME ONE. MY VEHICLE HAS HAD SLUGGISH ACCELERATION SINCE THEN. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED WITH SEVERAL VOLKSWAGEN OWNERS. THE VW CC 2010 AND OTHER CC MODELS HAVE A "TRAY" BETWEEN THE TRUNK AND THE BACK WINDOW THAT CRACKS WITH AGE DEPENDING ON HOW MUCH SUN THE CAR IS EXPOSED TO. CARS UNDER WARRANTY WILL GET THE PART REPLACED FOR FREE. THE COST OF THE PART IS $200 AND IS BOUND TO CRACK AGAIN DUE TO THE CURVATURE IN THE DESIGN AND THE MATERIAL.

TAKATA INFLATORS: DEALER REPLACED THE AIRBAGS DUE TO RECALL BUT THE SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON AFTER REPLACEMENT AND DEALER MADE EXCUSES WHEN I TOOK IT IN FOR INSPECTION STICKER. THE DRIVER SEAT BELT SENSOR DOESN'T STOP BEEPING. THE TRUNK LATCH DOESN'T WORK AND DEALER CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHY THE SUSPENSION HAS CRACKING SOUNDS. ALSO HAD A FUEL LEAK WHICH THEY DID FIX.
