"TAKATA RECALL" ON APRIL OF 2016 I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL 69M9 TAKATA SDI DRIVER FRONTAL AIRBAG FROM VW. I LIVE IN MIAMI, (ZONE A COVERS STATES WITH HIGH TEMPERATURE CYCLING AND HUMIDITY. TIME UNTIL UNSAFE PROPELLANT DEGRADATION MAY OCCUR IS PROJECTED AT BETWEEN SIX AND NINE YEARS.) , AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT YET GIVEN ME A RECALL DATE.
"TAKATA RECALL " I CALLED TODAY 10/5/16 ( LETTER OF RECALL ISSUED BACK IN 03/2016) THE VW MANUFACTURER AGAIN AND EXPLAINED TO THEM WHAT THE ISSUE IS. THEY TOLD ME THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO TELL ME BECAUSE THE VW CARS ARE NOT ON THE TOP HIGH RISK LIST FOR PART REPLACEMENT AND VW DON'T HAVE AN ESTIMATED DATE OF PART REPLACEMENT, MAYBE NEVER? WHAT DOES THAT MEAN , THAT OWNERS WHO ARE BADLY INJURED OR DEAD BECAUSE OF THIS RECALL ARE PRIORITY AND THE REST OF US WHO ARE CONCERNED CAN WAIT???!!! DOES THAT MEAN THAT NOBODY INCLUDING THE VW AND THE NHTSA DON'T CARE ABOUT GETTING THIS PART ASAP FOR ALL VEHICLE OWNERS WHO'S CARS ARE RECALLED. I ASKED IF I CAN TRY TO REPLACE THE RECALLED PART SOMEWHERE ELSE AND HAVE VW JUST REFUND ME THE MONEY , THEY SAID NO, SO THAT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE TO ME EITHER. WIRING HARNESS RUNNING THROUGH THE TRUNK AREA OF THE VEHICLE IS ROUTED IN SUCH A MANNER THAT OPENING AND CLOSING THE TRUNK CAUSES THE INSULATION TO CHAFE, RESULTING IN A SHORT CIRCUIT WHICH CAUSES THE TRUNK TO OPEN WITHOUT WARNING WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND THE TAIL/BRAKE LIGHTS TO CEASE FUNCTIONING PROPERLY.

STARTED CAR PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE HEARD A WINDING NOISE, PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE STILL HEARD NOISE STOPPED AT STOP LIGHT HEARD "KNOCK " OR "CLUNK" SOUND. I TOOK MY CAR TO JIFFY LUBE IN HOPES THEY COULD TELL ME WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND THEY SAID EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT IT WAS, MY TRANSMISSION. I CALLED CAR MAX WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM WAITING ON A RETURN CALL, THEY WILL HAVE TO COME AND GET MY CAR BECAUSE I DON'T WANT ANYTHING ELSE TO HAPPEN OR MAKE MATTERS WORSE. TAKATA RECALL - IT HAS BEEN OVER A YEAR SINCE THE RECALL WAS ISSUED, BUT MY CAR HAS STILL NOT BEEN REPAIRED. I'VE CONTACTED THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO PERFORM THE RECALL.

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION LURCHES/CLUNKS WHEN STARTING FROM A STOPPED POSITION. THIS PRESENTS A SAFETY ISSUE AS IT CAN ACCELERATE FOR A SHORT PERIOD WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO STOP THE CAR. FROM INTERNET RESEARCH, THIS IS A COMMON A IMPORTANT SAFETY ISSUE WITH VW DSG TRANSMISSIONS. LITERALLY 100S OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE. PLEASE, PLEASE RESEARCH THIS ISSUE. VW CLAIMS THE CAR IS "OPERATING IN SPEC" - ANYONE DRIVING WITH ME IN THE CAR IS SHOCKED AND WONDERS WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE CAR. THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME, BUT THERE ARE OCCASIONS WHEN IS GOES AWAY.
HELLO, I HAVE A 2010 VW CC. MY AIRBAG LIGHT HAS COME ON AND MY HORN AND STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS DON'T WORK. VOLKSWAGEN DOES HAVE A RECALL FOR THE "CLOCKSPRING" WHICH WOULD FIX ALL THIS BUT MY VIN IS NOT COVERED UNDER THIS RECALL EVEN THOUGH SOME OF THE SAME CARS AND SAME YEAR ARE COVERED. I CALLED THEM AND THEY SAID I WOULD HAVE TO GO GET IT FIXED AT A DEALERSHIP AND I WOULD MAYBE GET A REFUND. SINCE THEN MY STEERING WHEEL LIGHT HAS CAME ON AND IT IS VERY HARD TO TURN. I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY WOULDN'T COVER THIS. I WOULD THINK AIRBAG AND HORN ARE HUGE SAFETY CONCERNS AND THEY ALREADY KNOW THAT THIS PARTS FAILS. WHEN I CALLED VOLKSWAGEN CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY LADY COULD NOT HELP ME AT ALL OTHER THEN SAYING THERE IS ANOTHER RECALL FOR THE AIRBAG BUT THEY DON'T HAVE A FIX YET SO THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO. TAKATA INFLATORS: I WAS NOTIFIED OF THIS RECALL ALMOST ONE YEAR AGO, YET MY DEALER STILL DOES NOT HAVE THE PARTS. WATCHING A REPORT YESTERDAY I LEARNED THAT THE VEHICLES MOST VULNERABLE ARE THOSE 6 YEARS OLD AND KEPT IN A HOT HUMID CLIMATE. MY CAR MEETS BOTH OF THESE CRITERIA. I AM UNCOMFORTABLE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE.

THERE HAVE BEEN THREE RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE, AND IT HAS BEEN TWO AND A HALF YEARS SINCE THE FIRST ONE AND NO REMEDY HAS BEEN MADE. IT AFFECTS MY FRONT AIRBAGS, WHICH IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS OR MY PASSENGERS AND MYSELF. ALSO, I HAVE HAD TO TAKE THE CAR INTO THE SHOP FOR MULTIPLE OTHER REASONS CAUSED BY THE FUEL PUMP RECALL ON IT.
TAKATA RECALL. I WAS INFORMED MANY MONTHS AGO THAT MY CAR IS AFFECTED BY THE TAKATA AIR BAG RECALL. THE DEFECT STATES THAT IF I AM IN AN ACCIDENT THE INFLATION MECHANISM CAN RUPTURE AND KILL OR SERIOUSLY INJURE THE DRIVER. EVERY TIME I CHECK WITH MY DEALER I'M TOLD NO FIX IS AVAILABLE. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.

MY CAR ALREADY STOPPED RUNNING AND I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED INTO A MECHANIC WHERE HE KNEW THAT THE FUEL INJECTION ISSUE WAS A RECALL. I HAD TO PAY HIM $100.00 FOR TAKING MY CAR APART AND TELLING ME IT WAS A FAMILIAR ISSUE HE HAD WHEN WORKING ON ANOTHER VW..AND THAT I SHOULD CALL VW AND ASK IF THERE WAS A RECALL. OF COURSE, THERE WAS. I THEN HAD TO PAY FOR A 2ND TOW FROM THAT SHOP TO VW. THEY FIXED THAT RECALL..THAT I NEVER EVEN GOT A LETTER NOTIFYING ME OF THE RECALL. VW FIXED IT. YET NOW I AM STILL WAITING AS MANY OTHERS FOR THE PARTS TO COME IN SO MY CAR CAN BE REPAIRED WITH THIS AIRBAG ISSUE. AS FAR AS IM CONCERNED THIS CAR WAS MADE HORRIBLY UNSAFE AND ITS FALLING APART, ASIDE FROM THE OTHER WORK IVE PAID INTO HAVING DONE TO IT. AM I SUPPOSED TO KEEP PRAYING I DONT GET A SERIOUS INJURED OR FATAL ACCIDENT. AS, THERE HAS ALREADY BEEN BOTH SERIOUSLY INJURED AND FATAL ACCIDENTS AS A RESULT FROM THIS UNREPAIRED ISSUE..I DONT FEEL SAFE EVER GETTING IN MY CAR. IVE ALEADY BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT WITH HARD IMPACT AND IT DIDNT DEPLOY. I AM REQUESTING THAT THIS CAR BE BOUGHT BACK FROM ME, OR TAKEN BACK AND PUT ME IN A SAFE REPLACEMENT CAR OF NOTHING LESS THAN EQUAL VALUE. TAKATA RECALL MY DSG IS FAULTY I AM HAVING A FEW CODES POP UP I'M COOKING MY VEHICLE TO A VOLKSWAGEN DEALER TO GET MY FAULTY AIRBAG RECALL FIX AND THEY NEVER TOLD ME THAT THE DSG WAS ON A RECALL. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY CAR GEAR STARTED FLASHING AND I LOST POWER AND NEARLY GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT
A HEAVY JERK AND BAG WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS BETWEEN 1ST-3RD GEARS. TRANSMISSION DISENGAGES WHILE MOVING BUT PARTICULARLY IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN AND RESTARTED IN ORDER FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO BECOME FULLY OPERATIONAL AGAIN. THERE IS ALSO A HESITATION OR TIME LAG WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO REVERSE BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGES. THE VEHICLE HAS AN AUTOMATIC DSG TRANSMISSION. I AM NOT THE ONLY OWNER OF A 2010 CC THAT HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM. I CONTACTED THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURER AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE COMPANY'S POSITION WAS TO DO NOTHING. THIS VEHICLE HAS 2-3 OTHER RECALLS ON IT AS WELL. THIS IS A MECHANIC ISSUE THAT CAN OCCUR AT ANY MOMENT AND POSSESS POTENTIAL HAZARDS WHEN IN MOTION IN ANY DRIVING CONDITION (HIGHWAY OR STREET). I WAS TOLD BY DEALERSHIP REPAIR CENTER THAT THE CAR REQUIRES A BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION COSTING UPWARDS OF $5,000. AS STATED THIS IS A MANUFACTURING ISSUE AND RESEARCH INDICATES THAT MANY OTHER OWNERS OF THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE HAVE HAD THE SAME MECHANICAL ISSUE WITH THE END RESULT OF HAVING TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. YOU ASK WHEN THIS HAPPENED, HOWEVER, IT IS NOT A PARTICULAR DATE BUT CONTINUOUS.

VEHICLE MAKES A GRINDING AND CREAKING SOUND FROM STEERING ASSEMBLY. I AM AWARE OF SEVERAL OTHER VW/AUDI MODELS (A4, CC, PASSAT, JETTA, GTI) EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. VOLKSWAGEN IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND HAS REFUSED TO PUT OUT A RECALL OR FIX THE ISSUE UNDER WARRANTY OR GOOD WILL. AS PER DEALER RECOMMENDATION, IF THE ISSUE GOES UNFIXED COULD RESULT IN A FATAL ACCIDENT DUE TO POTENTIALLY LOSING COMPLETE STEERING WITHOUT ANY WARNING. WAS TOLD BY DEALERSHIP THAT I NEED TO REPLACE THE WHOLE STEERING ASSEMBLY. THE VEHICLE IS BARELY 5YRS OLD AND LESS THAN 70K MILES. I HAVE FOUND SEVERAL ONLINE POSTS IN FORUMS FROM DRIVERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR IF NOT MORE CATASTROPHIC INCIDENTS WHERE THEY LOST COMPLETE STEERING CONTROL (FOUND IN VARIOUS VW/AUDI FORUMS). WHEN TURNING STEERING WHEEL TO LEFT OR RIGHT, THERE IS A GROAN, GRINDING OR WHIRRING SOUND EMITTING FROM THE STEERING ASSEMBLY; THERE IS ALSO THE OCCASIONAL POPPING SOUNDING FROM EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT, DEPENDING ON DIRECTION AND ANGLE OF STEERING INPUT. THERE IS ALSO A CREAKING SOUND THAT CAN BE HEARD FROM THE RIGHT / PASSENGER WHEEL WHEN TRAVELING AT LOW TO MODERATE SPEEDS. WILL ALSO EXPERIENCE VIBRATION OR NOTICEABLE FEEDBACK IN STEERING WHEEL AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (50MPH +) SIMILAR TO TIE-ROD END LINKS GOING BAD. OR WILL FEEL NOTICEABLE FEED BACK WHILE TAKING A SLOW CORNER WHEN WHEEL IS HELD OR TURNED TO LEFT (AS IN GETTING ON OR OFF AN EXIT RAMP). I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH VW BUT THEY WILL NOT RESOLVE OR HELP CONTRIBUTE TO THE REPAIRS CLAIMING THAT VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY. HOWEVER, STEERING SYSTEMS SHOULD NOT FAIL IN SUCH AN EARLY STAGE OF A VEHICLE'S LIFE UNLESS WORKMANSHIP AND QUALITY ARE SUB-PAR.

THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO TURN INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO DRIVE WITH FORCE BEING APPLIED TO THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.
HEADLIGHTS INTERMITTENTLY GO OUT ON STARTUP. OCCASIONALLY BOTH LOW BEAMS, MOST OF THE TIME IT IS A SINGLE SIDE. AFTER MULTIPLE TIMES STARTING AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE IT WILL RELIGHT....IT CAN SIT FOR HOURS AND RELIGHT, OR WON'T RELIGHT THAT DAY...IT CAN STILL CHANGE BETWEEN PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE AND BACK. BULBS CHECK OUT OK, BOTH HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES REPLACED, STILL NO CHANGE- IT CAN GO OUT AT ANY TIME. DOES NOT SEEM TO BE RELATED TO TEMPERATURE OR HUMIDITY. EXCEPTIONALLY DANGEROUS IF I'M SOMEWHERE AT NIGHT AWAY FROM HOME AND THE HEADLIGHTS WON'T COME ON; THIS ACTUALLY HAPPEND ON A CROSS COUNTRY TRIP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DESERT OF ARIZONA. I FOUND MULTIPLE PAGES OF SIMILAR PEOPLE ONLINE WHO ARE HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM...THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ASAP, VW HAS A HOST OF PROBLEMS THEY REFUSE TO ADDRESS AS WARRANTY EVEN WHEN IT IS PAINFULLY OBVIOUS IT IS WHAT THEY ARE BOUND TO BY THEIR TERMS AND CONDITIONS- THEIR RESPONSIBILITY - REGARDLESS ON WHAT THEY CHOOSE TO COVER HIS IS A SERIOUS SAFET ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESS BEFORE SOMEBODY IS KILLED TRYING TO DRIVE HOME FROM A PLACE THEY'RE STRANDED WITHOUT HEADLIGHTS.

WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AT SPEED AT 65-70 MPH WITH A TRACTOR TRAILER IN MY REAR AND OTHER AUTOMOBILES TO MY RIGHT AND LEFT, THE CAR STOPPED RUNNING AND THE ENGINE SERVICE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. I WAS ABLE TO AVOID A COLLISION AND DRIFTED TO THE RIGHT OF INTERATATE 75. I CALLED THE DEALER WHO SOLD ME THE CAR, O'STEEN VW OF JACKSONVILLE, FL AND SPOKE WITH MY REGULATE SERVICE TECHNICIAN WHO ADVISED ME THAT MY CAR HAD JUMPED TIME AND FOR ME TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. MY INSURANCE WOULD ONLY TOW TO NEAREST REPAIR FACILITY WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN TIFTON, GA SO MY HUSBAND TOWED TO OUR HOME IN BLACKSHEAR, GA. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED AS WELL AS OTHERS. THERE WAS NO WARNING. THE VEHICLE WWW CONFIRMED TO HAVE TIMING CHAIN FAILURE THAT RESULTED IN DESTRUCTION OF ALL CYLINDERS AND COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE. DEALER REFUSED TO REPAIR AND FAILED TO DISOSE THAT A TSB (NHTSA # 10045560) RELATIVE TO THIS DEFECT WAS ISSUED IN JULY OF 2012 PRIOR TO THE CERTIFICATION OF THE VEHICLE I PURCHAED IN DEC OF 2012.
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, PLACING THE KEY INTO THE IGNITION, THERE IS A DELAYED START, OR NO START CONDITION. A MESSAGE APPEARS IN THE VEHICLE DISPLAY SCREEN "DEFECTIVE STEERING COLUMN LOCK". THE VEHICLE IS DISABLED AND UNABLE TO START. THIS IS AN UNSAFE CONDITION FOR MANUAL TRANSMISSION VEHICLES, IF STALLING OCCURS WHILE IN AN INTERSECTION, AND THE OPERATOR IS UNABLE TO RE-START THE ENGINE, AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS. *TR
THE CAR WILL JERK AT LOW GEARS. THE TRANSMISSION WILL JAM WHEN GOING FROM 'DRIVE' TO ANY OTHER GEAR. WHEN TRANSMISSION JAMS, CAR ACTS LIKE IF IT WAS IN NEUTRAL, THE "D" FOR DRIVE STARTS FLASHING ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE CAR WONT MOVE. THE TRANSMISSION WILL SOMETIMES JAM ON FIRST GEAR AND WONT SHIFT UP OR DOWN. I MUST TURN OFF AND ON THE CAR FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO START WORKING AGAIN. THE ISSUES ALWAYS HAPPEN AT LOW SPEEDS OR WHEN GOING FROM DRIVE TO REVERSE.
ENGINE MISFIRES WHEN ACCELERATING TO SPEED. DEALER FOUND ONE BAD COIL BUT I WAS ADVISED TO REPLACE ALL 4 COILS AND PLUGS BECAUSE THE OTHERS COILS WERE GOING TO FAILURE SHORTLY. AFTER THE REPAIR CAR'S PERFORMANCE AND GAS MILEAGE DROPPED AND ON LONG TRIPS THE MILAGES AND PERFORMANCE CONTINUES TO FALL THE LONGER TO RUN. MPG DROPS BY 10. NO FAULT CODES FOUND. ENGINES RUN ROUGH AT 70 MPH AND BURN RICH.
AS I BEGAN TO ACCELERATE, THE CAR STARTED JERKING AND THERE WAS HESITATION IN ACCELERATION. ADDITIONALLY, THE CAR FAILED TO REVERSE WHEN PUT IN GEAR. *JS

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS INFORMED THAT DUE TO THE MILEAGE THE REPAIR WOULD NOT BE COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. WITH NO WARNING, CLUTCH FAILED COMPLETELY WITH ONLY 43K MILES, AND GEARS WOULD NOT ENGAGE, I MADE A SUDDEN SHARP LEFT TURN TO THE ROAD SIDE, LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR, DEPRESSED BRAKE HARD TO FORCEFULLY STOP THE CAR WITH THIRD GEAR ENGAGED. AN ONLINE SEARCH SHOWS THAT MANY OTHER VW CC AND GOLF (2010, 2012 MODELS) HAVE HAD CLUTCH FAILURES WITH APPROXIMATELY THE SAME MILEAGE. ALSO, THERE IS A VW TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (VW 2028783) WHICH SHOWS THERE IS A CLUTCH ASSEMBLY ISSUE WITH THE CAR AND DIRECTS DEALERS TO REPLACE CLUTCH KIT FOR THOSE DEFECT MODELS. I CONTACTED VW CUSTOMER CARE AS THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AND AS I IN NO WAY ABUSED THE CLUTCH. ALSO, INFORMED THEM THAT THIS CC IS STILL WITHIN THE 2YR/24K MILE CPO WARRANTY. 2010 VW CC SPORT SUFFERED DSG CLUTCH FAILURE AT 50000 MILES, ALL THE LURCHING AND DRIVE FAILURE SYMPTOMS WERE EXPERIENCED. POWER LOSS WITH FAMILY IN VEHICLE AT FREEWAY SPEEDS! A WARPED CLUTCH PACK WAS PROMPTLY REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY BY AUTOBAHN DEALERSHIP. 55000 MILES AND THE VEHICLE HAS DEVELOPED INTERMITTENT BAD SHIFT AT AROUND 2ND/3RD GEAR AND SOMETIMES UP IN THE 5TH/6TH GEAR RANGE. THE SHIFT FEELS LIKE A MANUAL BEING PUT INTO 5TH AT 20MPH AND POWER IS LIMITED UNTIL THE GEAR ENGAGES WITH A JUMP. DEALER HAS THE VEHICLE AND IS EVALUATING IT AS ITS AN INTERMITTENT (ONCE OR TWICE A DAY) PROBLEM. A NEW MECHATRONIC UNIT OR TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN SUGGESTED. *TR
